1861. L'Italia diventa una nazione e nasce una moda alla quale si può propriamente attribuire il termine di "Italiana". Questo è quanto potreste vedere alla mostra "Moda in Italia. 150 anni di eleganza" fino al 29 gennaio 2012 presso la Reggia di Venaria, provincia di Torino.

Ho avuto il privilegio di visitarla e ora mi trovo qua a riassumere in qualche riga la bellezza eterea di 150 anni di moda. Oltre alla mostra, in cui si possono ammirare fra gli altri i vestiti della corte Savoia, quello di Angelica nel Gattopardo, le vestaglie di Eleonora Duse o le scarpe disegnate per Marilyn da Ferragamo, la Reggia di per sè lascia a bocca aperta. Un edificio gigantesco e fiabesco e un giardino altrettanto meraviglioso. La mostra si sviluppa su più sale, ognuna dedicata ad un decennio a partire appunto dall'anno dell'Unità e conta 200 vestiti. Oltre ai vestiti troverete filmati, dipinti ed un percorso olfattivo davvero interessante.

Non posso negare che ci siano state per me delle sale più belle di altre. Non posso non segnalare quella dedicata agli anni '20, con vestiti attualissimi e veramente luminosi, la sala degli anni '50 con i vestiti di manifattura italiana fatti per le più grandi dive del cinema dell'epoca e infine la sala della moda contemporanea (1970-2011) in cui si entra in una vera e propria sfilata di manichini e si tocca con mano il fascino della grande sartorialità italiana.

1861. Italy became a nation and with that proper Italian Fashion born. That's what you can see in the exhibition called "Moda in Italia. 150 anni di eleganza" that you can visit until the 29 of January at the Reggia di Venaria (Torino).

I went there a couple of days ago and right now I'm here, trying to sum up the amazing-ness of 150 years of fashion. The exhibition is gorgeous, you can admire dresses from the Savoia court (end of 1800), the dress worn by Angelica in Il Gattopardo or the shoes designed for Marilyn Monroe by Salvatore Ferragamo. The place where the exhibition is held is amazing too. It's an old and enchanted palace with a flourish garden in the back. The exhibition is made of several rooms, each one of them is dedicated to a different decade starting from 1860. On top of the amazing 200 dresses, you can find clips, paintings and a really interesting olfactory project.

I have to say some of the rooms caught my attention. I loved the 20's. There were some of the most amazing and sparkly dresses I've ever seen in my life, they could have been Topshop ones. In the 50's room there were dresses belonged to some of the most amazing divas of that decade: Gina Lollobrigida, Elisabeth Taylor, Ava Gardner and Marilyn Monroe. And lastly the contemporary room (1970-2011) where you can walk through a real mannequins fashion show and admire the amazing talent of some of the most admirable fashion designers.

Come diciamo in Italia "Due piccioni con una fava".

Oh yes, nel giro di pochi giorni mi sono portata a casa (più o meno) due delle cose che stavano nella mia personale wishlist da secoli: un paio di Jeffrey Campbell e uno smalto Deborah Lippmann.

Ora, iniziamo dalle scarpe. La storia è lunga. Ho parato per mesi un paio di zeppe JC borchiate su Solestruck, bellissime. Ma ho resistito dall'acquistarle perchè con le spedizioni e tutto mi sarebbero costate una fortuna. Poi...BANG! Ho visto sulla pagina di Facebook di "L'emporio delle Cose" a Bologna che avevano le classiche Foxy Wood in pelle nera o tan a 75 Euro. Sì, ho scritto bene: 75 EURO. Un regalo in pratica a cui non ho potuto dire di no!

Per quanto riguarda lo smalto la storia è diversa. Sappiamo tutti che qualsiasi boccetta del brand costa sui 20 euro, lo so, un latrocinio ma gli smalti glitter sono meravigliosi. Beh, ho trovato uno shop Ebay più che affidabile che vende prodotti di brand noti, fra i quali la Lippmann, e non ho potuto resistere. Benvenuto "Today was a Fairytale"!

In pratica...fine della storia!

Oh yeah, in a couple of days I bought two of the things I had in my wishlist for AGES: a pair of Jeffrey Campbell and a Deborah Lippmann nail polish.

Let's start with shoes. I've been looking to Solestruck site for months to buy me a pair of JC but the shipping cost always made me desist. Well, I found them in a store here in Italy for 75 Euros. Oh yes. 75 Euros for Jeffrey Campbell Black Foxy Wood. A classic on sale.

Now on the nail polish. We all know how much a Deborah Lippmann nail polish costs...a lot! Broswing the web I found a trustful Ebay shop that is selling luxury cosmetic brands. Well, I couldn't resist and I bought myself "Today was a fairytale" nail polish.

La copertina di Vanity Fair che vedete sopra è l'inizio del mio dramma. Il mio occhio, ormai dipendente nell'individuare nuove sfumature di smalti, si è follemente innamorato di quello indossato qui dalla MotherMonster aka Lady Gaga. Si chiama "Waking up in Vegas" ed è uno dei colori più richiesti fra quelli di Deborah Lippmann, brand dell'omonima nail artist che costa intorno ai 20$ a boccetta. Bang!

This Vanity Fair cover is the origin of my drama. I suddenly noticed the amazing shade of nail polish wore by Mother Monster aka Lady Gaga here. It's called "Waking up in Vegas" and it's one of the best seller shades of Deborah Lippmann line retailed around 20$.

Il colore è descritto come un grigio talpa molto cremoso. So che la descrizione non regge la bellezza di questo colore, ma è solo per indirizzarvi sulla sfumatura. L'effetto mannequin (ossia lo stesso effetto mani/unghie che si ha su un manichino) è uno dei trend per la cura delle unghie. Questo colore è perfetti per l'effetto.

The shade is described as a putty-liscious creamy grey. I know the description is not as good as the colour itself but whatever. The mannequin effect (nails of the [more or less] same colour of skin) is one of the biggest nail trend. This colour is perfect for the effect.

ELF Desert Haze

Facendo un ordine per ELF di tutt'altri prodotti, ho notato questo colore. Si chiama "Desert Haze" e, appena visto, mi ha ricordato il già ipercelebrato "Waking up in Vegas". BANG! E' lui...il dupe perfetto per il colore della Lippmann. Visto ed ordinato. Lo smalto ELF costa 1,70 Euro, il colore è bellissimo, la tenuta buona e il prezzo ottimo. Insomma, affare fatto! Ho risparmiato 15 euro e finalmente ho il mio grigio talpa cremoso.

While broswing ELF site to make an order I noticed this nail polish. It's called "Desert Haze" and, as I saw it, I thought about "Waking up In Vegas". BANG! It is the perfect dupe for it. Saw it and ordered it. The ELF nail polish costs just 1,70 Euros, the colour is amazing, it's long-lasting and the price is wonderfully economic. Deal done! I saved 15 euros and I finally have my putty-liscious creamy grey.

E' appena passato il cosidetto "Black Friday" (il primo venerdì dopo il Ringraziamento che da inizio allo shopping natalizio con saldi stratosferici) e, con il mondo dello shopping sempre più lanciato sul web, molti siti di shopping hanno deciso di estendere questa tradizione tutta americana anche alla rete.

Come molti dei trend più forti, quello azteco/maya invade ancora riviste e strade di mezzo mondo declinato il versione invernale. I motivi caratteristici dell'antico mondo precolombino avevano già conquistato l'estate 2011 ponendosi sul podio dei trend più seguiti.

Anche nella stagione fredda appena iniziata il trend prosegue la sua corsa e rimane saldo sul podio dei "Most Wanted".

As a lot of other trends the Aztec one is still conquering the world, now in its wintery version. The peculiar motifs of the pre-columbian world conquered last summer and they were considered one of the stronger trends of the season.

Le stampe geometriche e colorate arrivano ora su cardigan, vestiti ed unghie dando un tocco di allegria ed etnicità anche all'armadio più funereo.

Personalmente sono una fan delle geometrie, adoro i triangoli che esercitano su di me sempre un certo fascino, per cui trovo questo trend molto appetibile. Come sempre "est modus in rebus", cioè "c'è una misura nelle cose", quindi tutto è lecito basta non esagerare. Un piccolo tocco di Maya magari ci proteggerà in questo 2012 che deve venire!

The coloured and geometric geometries are going on now on cardigans, dresses and nails and they give a touch of happiness and ethnicity even to the most morbid of the closets.

I'm a big fan of geometries, I love triangles that always fascinate me that's the reason why I find this trend really interesting. As I always say "est modus in rebus", "there's a proper measure in things", the only important thing is being appropriate. Who knows, maybe a little touch of Maya will save us in the upcoming 2012!

In Italia li chiamiamo semplicemente "Beatles" facendo riferimento a chi li ha lanciati nel cyberspazio della moda mezzo secolo fa. Questi stivaletti alla caviglia sono diventati il simbolo di una generazione ed oggi, come tutte le mode, tornano a spopolare ai piedi di mezzo mondo. Non c'è firma o brand che non li abbia proposti, da quelli d'alta moda alle catene più economiche in mille versioni e per tutti i gusti ( e i portafogli). Sono uno di quei pezzi che danno un tocco androgino ai look più femminili e gridano "British", a conferma di questo dopo i Fab Four le testimonial più agguerrite sono due British d'oc come Kate Moss e Alexa Chung.

Non so quanto siano entrate nell'immaginario modaiolo di noi italiani, ma a me piacciono moltissimo e per questo mi sono concessa una versione low cost dei Beatles: quella di H&M. Per 39,95 Euro mi sono portata a casa degli stivaletti molto carini ed economici. Molto carini sono anche quelli di Monki, un brand svedese che sta conquistando il Nord Europa e che ha da poco lanciato il suo shop online.

Non mi resta che augurarvi un buon shopping.

E che Beatles sia!

Every brand offers them this season in their collections, from high fashion to low cost. They easily give an androginous twist to every look and they scream "British" out loud, as evidence of that Kate Moss and Alexa Chung are 2 super-British testimonials of nowadays Chelsea Boots.

I really love them and I treated myself with an H&M pair of Chelsea Boots for 39,95 Euros, really cute and economic. I really like the ones from Monki too, which is a Sweden brand that is conquering Nord Europe and it's launching its online shop these days.

All I have to say now is Happy Shopping.

Domenica ho in programma una gita tutto shopping all'H&M più vicino (Firenze, se vi dovesse interessare!). Visto che non capita spesso che io possa bruciare tutti i miei risparmi all'H&M, ho fatto una wishlist che forse verrà rispettata o forse no, ma che mi da un'idea di quello che vorrei almeno provare, così da non tornare a mani vuote (fosse mai!). Ho risparmiato e risparmiato per 4 settimane e, ormai in astinenza da shopping, smanio all'idea di spendere qualche euro in qualcosa di nuovo. I pezzi che vedete nel collage sono tutti della nuova collezione H&M e, in teoria, disponibili in ogni punto vendita.

Spero di poter trovare tutto o magari anche di meglio.

I've planned a shopping trip to the nearest H&M on Sunday (it's the one in Florence, just to let you know). I'm not able to go spending money to H&M really often so when I get the chance I always make a sort of wishlist to realize what I want or would want to buy. I've been shopping-free for 4 weeks and now I'm in full shopping abstinence and ready to spend all my money. All the items in the collage are from the fall/winter collection and all available at H&M.

The Cake Boss!

Domani è il compleanno di mio padre e, vista la mia passione per il fare i dolci, mi sono cimentata in una ricetta veloce e semplice ma d'effetto, degna del Boss delle torte!

Tomorrow is my dad's birthday and I decided to make a cake quick and easy to make but really yummy and stunning like a Boss Cake work!

INGREDIENTI / INGREDIENTS:

- 5 uova / 5 eggs

- 40 gr di Maizena / 40 gr of corn flour

- Frutti di bosco / Raspberries

- 1 o 2 limoni / 1 or 2 Lemons

- 200 ml di panna liquida / 200 ml of sour cream

- 200 gr di zucchero / 200 gr of sugar

- Cioccolato bianco / White chocolat

- Pasta Frolla / Short Pastry

Stendi la pastafrolla in una teglia, ricoprila con della carta argentata e dei legumi secchi e metti in forno a 200°C per 20 minuti.

Put the short pastry in a pan, cover with foil and put over some dried legumes, put it in the hoven at 200°C for 20 minutes.

Metti in un pentolino le uova, la panna e lo zucchero e mescolali insieme, poi aggiungi il succo del limone e la maizena.

Put in a kettle the eggs, the sour cream and the sugar first. Mix them and then add the lemon juice and the corn flour.

Nel frattempo fai sciogliere a bagnomaria del cioccolato bianco.

Meanwhile make the chocolate melt in a bain-marie.

Metti il composto sul fuoco per 10 minuti circa, fino a che non ottieni la tipica consistenza della crema.

Put the kettle over the fire for 10 mins. circa until you have the typical thick consistency of the cream.

Stendi la crema sulla base di frolla e rimettila in forno a 180° per 8/10 minuti.

Apply the cream on the pastry and put it back in the hoven at 180°C for 8 to 10 mins.

Lascia freddare il tutto e poi cospargi la torta di frutti di bosco.

Let it cool down a little bit and then put over the raspberries.

Spolvera di zucchero a velo e con il cioccolato fuso fai una veloce decorazione.

Dust it with some icing sugar and make some quick decorations with the melted chocolate.

This is a girl's shop who makes leather goodies like anybody else, beautiful coloured or plain bag Balenciaga style. The prices are not super economic but they're 100% handmade, they're beautiful and the quality of the product is amazing. In my wishlist there's a bag like the one on the picture!

Io li definisco un incontro fra la stravaganza e la raffinatezza di Audrey Hepburn. Ci sono pezzi forti ma molto fini, tutti realizzati a mano. Non vedo l'ora di avere abbastanza fondi per poter svaligiare lo store!

Last but not at all least my latest obsession. This girl from NY makes amazing and unique jewellery pieces. I define them a mix-match between edgy-ness and Audrey-ness. There are tons of edgy but still smart pieces and everything is handmade. Can't wait to have enough money to buy everything in the store..for real!

...I desperately need to want less!

Delle volte mi metto a fantasticare su tutto quello che voglio. Mi fa bene vederlo tutto insieme in un'unica immagine. Questo è quanto voglio in questo momento. Sfortunatamente non riesco a mettere da parte abbastanza per potermi permettere molte di queste cose (vedi anello e bracciale Tiffany, jeans o occhiali da sole VB o Balenciaga). Ci sono cose però che forse arriverò a regalarmi [o farmi regalare, sempre ben accetto] (vedi Peridot di Chanel, Her by Narciso Rodriguez o l'orologio che bramo da mesi di Michael Kors). In tutto ciò ci sono un paio di oggetti di Monki, una marca scandinava in stile H&M dai prezzi stracciati che spero di poter svaligiare al più presto.

Sometimes I like wondering what I would like to have. And sometimes it feels good looking at them all in one picture. This is what I want right not. Sadly enough for me I can't save enough money to buy a lot of this stuff (see Tiffany's ring and bracelet, VB sunglasses or jeans or the gorgeous Balenciaga). There are also stuff I could buy one day [or make someone buy them for me] (see the Peridot by Chanel, Her by Narciso Rodriguez or the Michael Kors watch I want from ages). I put in there also some stuff from Monki, a Scandinavian brand which makes amazing stuff at amazing prices and just opened a shop in Oxford Street, London.

Quando ho visto questa cover la prima cosa che mi è saltata per la mente è la canzone di Beyonce (da qui la citazione del titolo), mai visto tanto sbrilluccichio nelle mie mani. Un piccolo capolavoro.

When I saw this cover for the first time Beyonce's lyrics came to my mind (that's where the title comes from), I've never seen before so many bling-ness in my hands. A little piece of art.

Un mese fa sono stata contattata da MeBlingBling.com, un sito che produce cover per cellulari e Ipad a mano. Morale della favola, mi hanno chiesto se fossi interessata a provare una delle loro cover in cambio di una review del tutto libera su Youtube. Di solito non accetto prodotti, ma l'azienda mi è sembrata affidabile e cordiale per cui ho accettato.

A month ago I was contacted by a site called MeBlingBling.com (they make cover for mobile phones and IPad) and they asked me if I was interested in one of their covers for a review on Youtube. I don't usually accept this kind of offer but they were kind and honest to me and they give me all the freedom I needed to make a review video. So I accepted.

Giorni fa stavo guardando un video di Lisa Eldridge con Sophy Robson, una super esperta di unghie made in London. Sono quindi finita nel suo sito trovando centinaia di idee meravigliose per le mie mani.

Some days ago I was watching a Lisa Eldridge video on nails featuring Sophy Robson, a nail expert made in London. I found myself surfing her site and finding tons of ideas for my nails. Ho deciso di tentare una mia versione di una sua nail art (la quarta nella foto in alto) dal titolo "I scream for Ice Cream".

I tried my own version of one of her styles called (the fourth in the pic above) "I scream for Ice cream".

Ho prima steso uno strato di smalto azzurro su tutte le unghie, lasciato asciugare bene e poi mi sono dedicata alla decorazione sull'anulare. Con un giallo pastello ho disegnato una goccia di gelato che si scioglie sulla punta e il centro dell'unghia. Dopo cinque minuti di aciougatura ho proceduto a disegnare i piccoli chicchi di zucchero rosa e poi un finale di top coat.

I put on a light blue polish on all the nails first, I let it dry and then focus on the ring finger. I used a pastel yellow nail polish to dry a melting ice cream drop. After that I created some small sugary pink lines on the nail.

E' vero, sono stata via per molto tempo e un (doveroso) omaggio ad Amy Winehouse non mi scagiona dall'accusa di abbandono di blog. In poche immagini e (altrettanto poche) parole cercherò di aggiornarvi su quanto accaduto.

I know, I've been away for a long time and a tribute to Amy Winehouse is not gonna save me from the charge of blog neglet. I'm going to try summerize what happened in a few images and words.

Ho fatto un pò di shopping su Etsy acquistando un pò di cose per creare gioielli.

I did some shopping on Etsy finding some really cute bits and bops to create by myself some cute jewellery.

Ho ricevuto il mio ordine Boohoo di 30£ e sono soddisfattissima. Ottimi affari con i saldi!

I received my order from Boohoo and I'm 100% satisfied. I spent 30£ and I got three beautiful pieces with the sales!

EE infine ho dipinto i muri della mia stanza di bianco dopo anni di orrendo rosa ed ora sono pronta per darle un nuovo look, molto più pulito e maturo.

And I finally painted my walls white and now I'm ready to give to my room a clean and modern look.

Nell'ultima gita pro-shopping in occasione del mio compleanno ho fatto un salto da Lush, la mia prima volta. La prima cosa che (letteralmente) ti investe sono 100mila profumi e 100mila colori e alla fine ti ritrovi a passare due ore in negozio senza accorgertene!

In my last shopping trip for my B-Day I want to Lush for the first time! The first thing you notice is the strong smell and then the colours of the soaps and masks and at the end you find yourself spending 2 hours in the shop!

Ero andata lì soprattutto per testare il labbrasivo (uno scrub per le labbra) al sapore di Big Babol. Costa sui 5 euro e li vale tutti. A parte il sapore fantastico e il colore allucinogeno quello che colpisce è l'azione che fa sulle labbra screpolate..qualcosa di miracoloso!

I went there for the Bubblegum lip scrub. It's around 5 euros and it's totally worth it! I love the smell, the flavour and the colour but most of all the effect it has on your lips..a miracle for dry lips!

Ho deciso di provare un paio di saponi. Il primo è Tiratisu, una sorta di dolce in barretta da strofinare sul corpo per profumare come una pasticceria. Lascia la pelle morbida e idratata. Buonissimo!

I tried a couple of soaps too. The first one is Vanilla In The Mist, it's a sort of cake in a bar. You rub it on your body to smell like a bakery shop. It makes your skin soft and hydrated. So good!

Il secondo ed ultimo è Karma. Ne sono assuefatta. L'ho usato ogni giorno da quando l'ho preso e ne ho ordinato un panetto nuovo dal sito con incluso il profumo stick. Ha un che di orientale e speziato, un profumo unisex e molto intrigante. Non riesco a smettere di sniffarlo!

The second one is Karma. I'm addicted to it. I've used it every single day since I got it. I ordered a new bar and also the perfume stick on the site. It has an oriental smell a little bit citrusy and spicy. It's a unisex parfume and it's really attractive!I can't stop sniffing it!

All I wish for my Birthday is...

Cinque giorni al mio compleanno, cinque giorni e sarò ancora più vecchia. Da quando ho superato la tanto attesa soglia dei 18, ogni 25 giugno diventa sempre più pesante. Già faccio discorsi da nonna del genere "ah, come passa il tempo" o "beato te che sei giovane". Povera me. Comunque, nonostante la desolazione per la vecchiaia che incombe, non riesco a non stilare la mia lista dei sogni, con regali più o meno fattibili, ma dei quali sono certa non vedrò l'ombra neanche quest'anno.

Five days to my birthday, five days and I'll be a little bit older. Since 2006, when I turned 18, every 25th of June is a little bit heavier. I find myself saying "granny" things like "time pass by". Poor me. Anyway, getting older is not detaining myself from creating a dream wishlist of present that I'm sure is not gonna come true!
