Pop! Boom! Bang! Cake! #RECIPE

Pop Boom Bang Cake by D. Talcott

2 quarts popped popcorn (unsalted)

4 cups Cheerios (use favourite flavour)

1 cup raisins (optional)

1 ½ cups nuts (your choice)

1 cup M&Ms (plain)

4 Tablespoons Butter

1 10 0z. package Kraft Marshmallows

In a very large bowl mix together popcorn, M&Ms, Cheerios, nuts, and raisins.

In a saucepan melt the butter and marshmallows over low heat.

Stir the melted ingredients into the popcorn mixture.

Put into a lightly buttered bundt cake pan or 10-inch tube pan.

Press down using wax paper.

When it has cooled, remove from the pan and slice when ready to serve.

VARIATIONS: Add ½ cup Reese’s Pieces. Use various flavours of the Cheerios.

It's Christmas! In July!

Who doesn't love Christmas? I know I do. It is, in fact, the time of year I love the most! One of my most cherished traditions is watching A Christmas Story with family.

I've never had an ugly Christmas sweater -- truly! I DO have the most ghastly vest, however.

When given the chance to review a pair of lounge pants from
uglychristmassweater.com I jumped at the chance.

Happy Husband wears lounge pants every night (all day Saturday and Sunday if possible). They keep his legs warm.

The very first pair to catch my interest are the pair I got for Happy Husband.

This is the very essence of A Christmas Story, paying homage to the Major Award... The Leg Lamp and, last but not least, PINK NIGHTMARE!

Mike loves them already. He says the pants have a nice, non-binding waistline and plenty of leg room.

Aren't they adorable? They are so soft, too. Snuggly soft... Ahem! The front has a drawstring closure.

This was a great challenge -- fun, tasty, and a wonderful opportunity to create a new family snack. I made a couple of #TeamSavory batches that has a touch a of sweet as well.

1 box Cheez*It Duoz Cheddar Jack & Sharp Cheddar Pretzel 1 box Cheez*It Duoz Bacon & Cheddar 1 bag Kroger Mini-Twist Pretzels 1 Cannister Kroger Honey Nut Roasted Whole Cashews 1 Cannister Kroger Private Selection Praline Pecans I 11 oz package M & M's. Mixed all together and divided into two airtight containers.

I'm Back!

After a VERY extended period of no stitching, I'm back! My eyesight went bad... so it was, I thought, useless to keep trying.

However, Happy Husband bought me a new OTT-LITE desk lamp and some 5X readers (yes, 5X, can you imagine?) and I cautiously picked up an old WIP.

This is Celtic Heart from M-designs. I started this several years ago on 36 ct. Lugana. The floss is Vikki Clayton's HDF in Lavender and Rose. I'm working 1 over 2 and getting fantastic coverage.

I have the chart divided into 4 parts to make it easier to keep my place. So far, so good.

It's so nice to have needle and fabric in my hand again. I've missed this.

I'll update my progress in a couple of days.

MONTGOMERY ALABAMA PIE

MONTGOMERY PIE

2 eggs

1/4 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice

2 teaspoons grated lemon rind

1/2 cup sugar

1-1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1 cup water

4 tablespoons soft butter

2/3 cup sugar

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 cup milk

1 deep dish pie crust

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Beat one egg with the lemon juice and rind, ½ cup sugar, 2 tablespoons flour, and 1 cup water. Beat until smooth and pour into unbaked pie shell.

Beat butter and one egg in a large bowl; add 2/3 cup sugar and baking powder; then alternatively add milk and 1-1/2 cups flour (about 1/3 each time). Beat until smooth then spoon the mixture over the first layer of the pie.

Bake 35-40 minutes.

Check with toothpick for doneness. Cool on a wire rack. Slice and enjoy. Be sure to spoon the lemon filling left in the pan over the top of the slice before serving.

The baking time may vary for this pie. Best success for baking at 350 degrees F. for 45 minutes. Be careful not to overbake or underbake. The top layer should be a firm sponge layer with the bottom being a creamy lemon pudding.
