GREAT WALL OF INDIA will announce his retirement from international cricket on Friday, ending a career that underpinned India's rise to the top of the sport. Dravid, 39, has called a press conference in Bangalore that will also be attended by N Srinivasan, the BCCI president.

Dravid is set to be the first of India's senior-most cricketers - including Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman - to quit the game after a season of speculation surrounding their future. His decision follows a poor tour of Australia but he enjoyed a prolific run through 2011, scoring five centuries - including four in the Caribbean and England. However, he is set to captain Rajasthan Royals in the upcoming IPL season.

The first public tribute came from Tendulkar, who said no tribute was enough for the "one and only" Dravid. "There was and is only one Rahul Dravid. There can be no other. I will miss Rahul in the dressing room and out in the middle," he said.

Dravid, who made his debut at Lord's in 1996, scoring 95, will end his career as one of the greatest players of his generation and among the most accomplished ever. He scored 13,288 Test runs - behind only Tendulkar - in 164 matches, with 36 hundreds at an average of 52.31. His ODI career, which effectively ended in 2008 with a brief reprisal in 2011, was scarcely less successful - it yielded more than 10,000 runs and 12 centuries. He also has 210 catches, a Test record, in addition to 196 catches in ODIs.

Behind the statistics, he will be remembered as the consummate team player, moving around in the batting order to suit the team's requirements and keeping wickets when necessary - most strikingly in ODIs, when his double role gave the team balance on its way to the World Cup final in 2003. His remarkable fitness allowed him to play 93 consecutive Tests from his debut to December 2005.

He will be remembered as one of the last classical Test match batsmen, renowned for his technique and a willingness to bat through difficult circumstances - and over prolonged periods - yet able to stroke the ball around when the mood struck him. He was the anchor of India's famous middle-order, keeping the innings together while the strokeplayers - Tendulkar, Laxman and Ganguly - played a more attacking role. He appeared to especially flourish in partnership with Laxman, never more so than in the Eden Gardens Test of 2001.

His batting qualities and efforts were often overshadowed by the flair of his team-mates yet they were brought into sharp focus over the past year with India's Test team struggling through a period of transition. Dravid showed his class on the tour to England in 2011. In a series in which India were completely outplayed and none of their other batsmen scored more than 275 runs in the Tests, Dravid amassed 461, including three hundreds, two of them when opening the innings against a high-quality pace attack. However, that was followed by a poor series in Australia, which reopened the debate about his retirement.

As a captain Dravid had mixed success; he led India in 25 Tests, winning eight and losing six. Under him India cemented a newly won reputation for being good travellers, winning Test series in Pakistan in 2003-04 - he captained in two out of three Tests - West Indies in 2006 and in England in 2007. His captaincy coincided with Greg Chappell's controversial term as coach, though, and Dravid was clearly uncomfortable with the role.

Moms, wives, friends, sisters, poor women, rich women, black women, white women, it was women from all walks of life banding together to create a movement.

But many girls will go most of their childhood NOT hearing about this movement, or any other inspiring stories that should be shared in honor of Women’s History Month. So what can YOU do about it?

Here’s a list of things you can do to celebrate Women’s History Month where you live.

Talk to the School – Talk to your child’s teacher about Women’s History Month. Ask if there are any lessons plans in place for Women’s History Month. If not, offer to do something. You can visit websites like this for lots of ideas.
Read A Book – You don’t’ have to plan an entire activity. Find some books (check thislist) for ideas and offer to read. March 2nd just happened to be Read Across America Day as well. Maybe you can offer to celebrate at your child schools by reading a book to the class or at any reading assemblies being planned. Choose a book from the above list, or any book about an amazing SheHero in history.
Go on an Adventure – Do a little research and see if there are any activities near or around where you live celebrating Women’s History Month. Or see if any local museums have any exhibits or areas that have to do with women artists.
Local History – Look up and research local history. Find out local history, the first woman mayor, when women first began voting in your areas, local architecture and other things that may keep
Read Books & Watch Movies – Simple yes, but visit the library and Netflix and stock up on a batch of age appropriate books and movies () about women form history.
Use The Internet – The Internet is a treasure trove of information about women in history, take advantage.
Celebrate Your Own History – Use Women’s History month is a great excuse to take your kids to visit Grandma and listen to stories about the amazing SheHeroes in your very own family!

Ra one review: pics and trailors

Shah Rukh Khan’s ambitious film ‘RA.One’ has all the ingredients of a blockbuster film. Thrilling action sequences, mind blowing special effects, foot tapping numbers and SRK romancing Kareena. But yet, inspite of all this, ‘RA.One’ falls short somewhere.

In the garb of a futuristic film which boasts of mind blowing special effects, the story remains the same old one and in fact is a mixture of some world class sci-fi films. So in the entire film, one can find traces of ‘Terminator’, ‘Biccentinial Man’, ‘Matrix’ and amusingly, our very own ‘Robot’.

The plot is pretty simple. On the behest of his son Prateik (Armaan Verma), Shekhar Subramaniam (Shah Rukh Khan), the geeky gaming expert creates an anti hero who is invincible. Hell breaks lose when the anti hero RA.One(Arjun Rampal) manages to come out of the virtual world and enter the real world. And to protect the mayhem that ensues, G.One (SRK again) comes to protect the world.

The clashes between the hero and the antagonist work well. Due to his uncanny similarity to Shekhar who is now dead, Sonia(Kareena), his widow finds herself warming up to G.One. Infact, G.One the robot also develops an emotional and protective bond for Sonia and her son.

The film has its moments but they are far and few in between. Some of the scenes are surely entertaining but when one goes to watch a SRK film, one hopes to be entertained throughout, and sadly ‘RA.One’ fails to do so.

Music by Vishal Shekhar is splendid. But songs appear out of no where and for no reason as such. The high point is surely the AKON number-‘Chammak Challo’. Director Anubhav SInha falters mainly due to a hollow script. It fails to leave an impact of any kind.

For SRK fans, it is a film which has the superstar in a new avatar. Of that of an action star. But somehow, SRK’s loverboy acts surpasses his action hero image any day.
Watch it for the special effects and for ‘Chammak Challo’. Don’t expect it to woo you the way other SRK films do, because it isn’t the same.

Samsung NEW launch NeXus Prime

Samsung is all set to launch its new mobile phone Nexus Prime (rumoured name) in Hong Kong on Wednesday. The new phone will be the third mobile phone to be made in collaboration with the search giant Google, the first two being Nexus (made by HTC) and Nexus S (made by Samsung itself). It was first scheduled to be launched last week, but was postponed due to the demise of arch rival Apple’s co-founder Steve Jobs earlier this month. Let’s have a look at what we can expect from the new mobile phone.

Rumoured Specifications

Nexus Prime will be the first mobile phone to run on Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS), the latest version of the Android operating system. We had first written about the OS when Google announced it at its I/O 2011 conference earlier this year and later when Notion Ink disclosed that the new version will be launched by Google in late October, 2011. It seems their prediction turned out to be true after all (earlier Notion Ink had accurately predicted the release date for Android 2.3 Gingerbread)

Android has already become the most widely used operating system for smartphones and tablets and Ice Cream Sandwich will take this to the next level since it will be Google’s first operating system that will run on both tablets and phones.

Running on the Android 4.0 (ICS) operating system, the mobile phone will have a 4.65 inch Super AMOLED high definition (HD) touchscreen display (1280×720 pixel resolution) and will be powered by a dual-core 1.5GHz processor. The device will have 1GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory which can be further expanded up to a total of 64GB (32+32) with a 32GB microSD card.

The device will be free of physical buttons and instead will have on-screen touchscreen buttons instead (like the ones present in popular Samsung devices). It may also sport an 8 megapixel rear camera that can also record full HD videos at 1080p and a 2 megapixel front facing camera.

The device will also have a 2050 mAh battery, which should provide up to 10 hours of talk time. On the connectivity front it will have Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and 3G and will come with a microUSB port, a microSD card slot and an HDMI port.

Availability and Price

The device would be made available in various countries including US and UK early November this year, following which it will be launched in other parts of the world including India. The device will easily be priced in excess of Rs 30,000 considering the specifications it offers and many believe that it will directly compete with the latest sensation from Apple, the iPhone 4S.

Apple has already sold more than 3 million pieces of iPhone 4S since its launch and we expect that the initial craze over ICS will work in favour of Nexus Prime and will help boost the sales of the new mobile phone from Samsung.

Rangoli is a popular art form among Indian women. Rangoli are painted on the ground in front of houses using colored rice powder -- sometimes supplemented by flower petals and other colorful materials. Rangoli are typically painted during the tamil month of Maarkazhi (between December 15th and January 15th).

Hindu Legend: During the month of Maarkazhi, the Goddess Andal prayed to Lord Thirumal to marry her. Her wish came true and others also began to pray to have the husband of their dreams. During this month, unmarried women paint rangolis to welcome Lord Thirumal in hopes that they will have the same good fortune as Andal.

- pastel crayons and poster paint both have nice bright colors and make terrific choices for young children coloring in the rangoli.
- Salt glitter is another interesting choice. It's a little messy, but some kids like a bit of a mess when they craft.

real rangoli are typically made with a rice paste, which makes colored rice is a nice option
To food color rice,
- add a healthy amount of food coloring to two 1 tsp of rubbing alcohol in a ziploc
  bag.
- Pour in about 3/4 cup of UNCOOKED rice.
- Close the bag
- Shake well (like shake and bake)
- Pour onto a piece of wax paper or tinfoil to dry (put it in a cookie sheet so it doesn't accidentally get
  knocked on the floor)
- Making the colored rice is messy and food color doesn't come out of clothes well... the shaking part can be
  done by kids, but the rest should be done by an adult.
- I like using food coloring PASTE instead of drops as I find the color is richer, but drops work too.
- Let dry (about 1/2 a day -- less if you spread them out well in a warm airy place) -- once again, I never listen
  to my own advice... our rice had about 5 minutes to dry before we used it... we just made sure to have a
  damp rag to wash off our hands.

New Delhi, Oct 17: After a stunning 126-run victory against England in the ODI series opener, a resurgent India is confidently set to take on England in the second ODI to be played at the Firoz Shah Kotla ground in New Delhi on Monday October 17 afternoon.
The day/night encounter is expected to be witnessed by a jam-packed crowd as there has been a huge demand for the tickets, especially after the first win. The morale boosting victory had helped India to overcome the woes of the recently concluded England tour in which India failed to win even a single match against England - in test, ODI and T20.
Though the first encounter was branded as a 'revenge match', Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni said that it was not revenge, but that his team wanted to break the losing jinx.
In the absence of star players, the Indian team kept its cool and performed brilliantly to thrash England out of the game.
For spinner R Ashwin and allrounder Ravindra Jadeja, the last match proved fruitful as both youngsters showed their ability and bagged 3 wickets each under pressure. Jadeja too batted brilliantly and earned showers of praise from captain Dhoni after the match. "Jadeja has brought consistency in his performance over the last few matches," Dhoni said.
According to the pitch expert in New Delhi, the Kotla ground is expected to be bowler-friendly. Praveen Kumar, newcomer Umesh Yadav, Ashwin and Jadeja are once again expected to prove their ability with the ball, and put the team in a comfortable lead in the five-match series.
Indian batting looks stronger after a spectacular display by the captain himself who led the team from the front with his unbeaten 87. Gambhir, Raina, and Kohli once again provided stability to the team.
On the other hand, England will look to score a victory on Monday, as they cannot allow India to dominate the series. In England, pitches were favourable for their players, but they need more practice to adjust to Indian wickets. But by the time they adjust, it may be too late or India may clinch the series by then!
Before the series began, captain Alastair Cook told the media that it would be difficult to beat world champions in their home turf. He has now warned his players to learn a lesson from the previous match and rise to the occasion.
Toss will once again play a significant role in the match. Since it is a day and night game, the team batting second could face some trouble. If the team batting first scores around 250, it will have a good chance to dominate the match. Scores between 220-240 may even end up in a last-over thriller.

India's first facebook movie does not boast of any heavyweight on the credit list but the film 'Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge' is relying heavily on its youth appeal and tight script. Most of the faces involved with the film are relatively inexperienced including the debutant director Nupur Asthana.

Probably the idea behind taking all new faces in the film was that the film revolves around social networking sites which are primarily dominated by the youngsters, and most of the prominent faces of the Bollywood have already crossed that age limit to be called teens.

The story opens with a bunch of college kids who are experiencing the weirdness of adolescence in an environment which is both liberal and high on hopes.

The Hindi film industry is not known for western kind of chic-flicks or films based on the social networking phenomenon, thus even the moderate success of 'Mujhse Fraaaandship Karoge' can prove to be a trend setter.

Produced by Y-Films, a tributary to the mother company Yash Raj Films, has produced the film which explores the desires of the youth which get reflected through their facebook status.

'Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge' has four people in the centre in the shapes of Rahul, Vishal, Preity and Malvika, played by Nishant Dahiya, Saqib Saleem, Saba Azad and Tara D’Souza. These four people are divided into two different groups.

The first group consists of Rahul and Malvika, who have good looks and great fan following in their college. Vishal and Preity form the second group who are creatively brilliant but are shy in expressing their views at public forums.

The problem arises when introvert photographer Preity falls for the rockstar Rahul and Vishal the writer starts feeling attracted towards Malvika.
