Today's custom invitation work: a pretty tree themed save the date. "Save the Date" is carved into the front of the tree with the bride and groom's info on the back. Over the past 7.5 years of owning Lasso'd Moon, I've found myself, on numerous birthdays and holidays, designing gifts for my three boys and their cousins (and sometimes friends at school). Every year, we've bought numerous lego sets, only to have them end up dismantled for parts, bought video games that end up scratched, etc, etc. So when I finally found a source to make personalized gifts, I was pretty psyched. And now, I'm bringing that to you.

It may seem early to start thinking about your wedding invitations for your 2013 wedding, but it's actually the PERFECT time. Custom invitations, in the height of wedding season, can take anywhere from 4-8 weeks to produce, depending on the quantity and complexity of your order. By starting the process now, you can save yourself stress by getting the majority of your design work done now and then filling in the final details when you have them.

For May-July weddings, now is the right time to send your save the dates. Order now in our Wedding Invites Etsy shop, or contact us for a custom photo card design.

Don't forget- invitations being sent out in January will need extra postage due to the yearly postage increase.

Summer news and a Hey! How are you?

It's been a crazy spring and being the sole employee, somethings I had to let slide, a big one being this poor neglected blog. But hopefully I'll be able to get back into the swing of posting more often and first up is some great summer news. The first is this beautiful lookbook from Vermont Wedding Style that I'm super excited to be a part of. We designed two completely new invitation suites that will be available soon for ordering online (or you can email to order now).
The second is that we're having a great sale now through 7-15-2012 on our signature wedding invitations. Save 10% on orders over $200 and 15% on orders over $500. We rarely have a sale- so be sure to take advantage of this special offer. No codes needed- the discount will be taken when you check out. This offer does not apply to custom designs and only through orders placed through the site.
Lastly, with summer comes the three kids being home more and me having less phone time during the day to take calls or set up meetings. So calls that come in after 1pm EST will be returned the following morning, but I will still be available for questions via email until 4:30 EST.

An Intimate Wedding at Mountain Top Inn

From Margaret Belanger Photography: Anne and Tim got married on a gorgeous early summer day in Vermont. The only people in attendance were Anne's mother, her aunt, and Tim's parents. And of course, Anne and Tim's dogs, Banjo and Chester. Banjo even walked Anne down the aisle! Every little detail of the wedding was important! Anne wore her aunt's high school graduation dress as her wedding dress. She knit the little birds and the nest that held their wedding bands. She made the flag banner that decorated the chateau they stayed in. She made the table runner out of antique fabric and embroidered her and Tim's initials in it, as well as their wedding date. She also made their wedding invitations and announcements. I'm sure there are a million other details that I'm leaving out. It was all so unbelievable and gorgeous! It was such an honor to be there to share in their day. Since there weren't hundreds of guests to contend with, it meant we had plenty of time to take portraits. The Mountain Top Inn was full of amazing photo opportunities and we tried to take advantage of all of them! Anne and Tim had no problem hopping into the canoe and paddling out a little ways. They posed on hay bales and with horses and in fields of flowers. And at the end of it all, they shared a really lovely intimate dinner with their families. It was such a wonderful way to celebrate their marriage!

Custom Birch Tree Wedding Invitations

Sarah and Steve came to me last summer looking for a custom winter wedding invitation that did not include snowflakes and would incorporate birch trees in some way. In the end we incorporated two photos- one of a snowy woods (with maple and birch trees) and one one the insert cards (a macro shot of birch bark). Paired with a rich green backing and belly band, along with a dark brown metallic z-fold from Envelopments, it was perfect for a wedding at the Christmas Tree Farm Inn in New Hampshire.

Eli spent his summers on Martha's Vineyard and thought it would be the perfect place to shoot an engagement shoot with his bride-to-be Megan. A North Carolina couple, Megan and Eli flew to the vineyard to spend the weekend exploring and photographing around the island and all of their favorite spots. From Evangeline Lane Photography.

I think engagement shoots are such a great idea- it gives you and your beloved a chance to take some gorgeous candid and relaxed photos without all of the ceremony of a wedding. Are you doing engagement photos?

Swan and Stone Millinery- Felt Fascinators and more

I love meeting new wedding professionals- but when I met Sam Stone of Swan&Stone it was obvious that we already knew each other (our kids have been classmates for a couple of years) but I had no idea what beautiful hats and fascinators she and her business partner make. So it was a pleasure to get to see them at the Rutland Bridal Show in January.

Sweet Stowe Elopement

Water for Elephants Photo Shoot

From the photographer: Water for Elephants, an amazing story of a young lad who finds his way to a traveling circus, falls in love with a beautiful blonde and in the end, rescues her and then spend the rest of their lives together… Randi Marie Photography and Blue Door Creative teamed up to create a wedding that would be a lovely replication of this amazing book. Author Sara Gruen offers visual aids throughout the pages of her book to help Kate & I gather idea’s to incorporate in to this styled shoot. With warm tones and a rustic feel, what started as a mere idea turned out to be an amazing wedding brought about from the past; "Water For Elephants meets A Rustic Barn." Brides need ideas outside the blank ballroom to make their wedding one of a kind. What better of a way to do it then create a wedding perfect for the vintage rustic bride? Executing this idea was nothing but ease as we had the best vendors on board that anyone could ask for. We wanted to build this styled shoot to help give brides outside-the-box ideas for a fabulous wedding. Our amazing bakers, Juliana with 3.14 Pies and Megan with Eat Sweets Pastry, teamed up to make delicious treats and the yummiest goods. The fabulous “Print Your Party” did our custom paper goods. We gave her an idea and she turned it in to a dream come true. Sew In Love created the perfect dress for our bride. The florist took our idea and turned it in to a dream. Stemming from the very vintage past, we wanted to incorporate a hairpiece that would really compliment the style of our shoot along with our bride’s personality. Kira, a fun and outgoing lady, was more then happy to be our model. For the name of love, that girl would be up for anything! Daniel, a handsome fella with the sweetest personality, made the perfect groom with his gentle personality and striking good looks.

Custom Wedding Invitation Projects- VT Moutains and Pine Trees

We worked on some really pretty custom invitation projects last year, which I'll be highlighting over the next couple of weeks. First up is Devon's invite, featuring a sketch her mom drew on the invitation itself. The folder and green paisley backing were from Envelopments. The entire wedding invitation suite was closed with a coordinating belly band.

Real Vermont Weddings: Nicole and Brooke, Top Notch Resort

From Nicole: Words of advice we'd offer: make sure to stay organized and communicate & confirm specific details with vendors...Take time to talk and thank each and every guest, and we really enjoyed seeing each other prior to our ceremony...Kathleen called it the "First Look" and it was a very private / emotional moment and helped take some of the nerves off. We also joke that our wedding day was literally "the calm before the storm" as Hurricane Irene came to town the following day. Kathleen got a couple of pictures of Brooke (the Weatherman) in his room watching the storm on CNN prior to the ceremony.

"Our wedding day was such a fantastic whirlwind! I spent the majority of the day getting ready with my lovely bridesmaids, laughing and occasionally walkie-talkie chatting with my husband-to-be who was getting ready in another part of the house. The most nervous I was all day was in the 5 minutes leading up to our "first look" - which is exactly why I would highly recommend the first look option to any couple. Hal and I had the opportunity to see each other and cry and be excited in the comfort of a gorgeous little wooded area before all the amazing chaos ensued. We both loved getting the chance to just stare at each other and let all that nervous energy out before the actual ceremony. And lest you husbands and brides-to-be out there are wondering: we still cried and laughed and were ten shades of excited once I was walking down the aisle and standing under the chuppah! It's all about taking a deep breath, being relaxed, remembering that you are marrying the person you love, and having a wonderful time. "
