How To Have A Perfect Tea Party: in Beverly Hills that is

So it's official, Anastasia of the famed, Anastasia of Beverly of Beverly Hills throws the best tea parties or any party. This was my amazing time at her house with some amazing people, new friends and old ones too. You might recognize the faces above, (well besides me, Kylie Jenner and Princess Pia Mia, that made me wish I had gone with a red lip after all!)...they both really sweet.

How, adorably, "I'm so gonna instagram or pin that cake", is this:

This was Anatasia, or Anastasia of Beverly Hills, as she is known for her incredible list of celebrities that have had their eyebrows and even hairline redesigned by Anastasia. She not only has one of the most amazing success stories, huge roster of clients from Oprah to Kim Kardashian, but she has one of the most genuine and kind hearts and I love her daughter, Claudia too! I'm honorary family now....and I have her instagram to prove it! (hee hee)

Some amazing guests that became new friends. And I got to see so

me friends I've only met via twitter and friends I haven't seen in a while. Here with party planner, Andres and the beautiful, Mynxii White I love her hair and I was kind of excited because I filmed a tutorial how to make a flower head band like hers! I just need to edit it! We totally hit it off and talked about everything, even coloring your hair in the shower! ha ha ha

Not only is Ken Paves, a really good umbrella holder, but he is also an amazing, celebrity hair stylist.

And Troy Jensen, who is an incredible make-up artist to a huge list of celebrities. And we talked about his new make-up workshops he's going to be doing, and how fun it might be to do a video of him doing my make-up...might be fun to see someone elsed putting make-up on me besides, me! ha ha ha

Not only his Natasha Lillipore's hair amazing, her face is like a vintage doll, but her sweet mama came with her too! And my phone did something weird and made us come out all cray-cray looking!

It was the perfect tea party....with the nicest of people, which is rare at events where fashion, beauty and/or celebs are! ha ha ha ha Just goes to show that Anatasia has wonderful friends!

This is how I put on make-up most days....

Most days I have about 3.5 minutes no scratch that, maybe 2 minutes to slap some foundation and mascara on and swipe on some red lipstick and liner and some mascara.

I was in a huge hurry this morning to get ready. I'm typing this from the Youtube Space in LA. And I'm surprised I even have make-up on this morning. I was trying to upload pictures from the Hyper Tea Party I went to yesterday at my friend, and just an overall amazing person, that happens to do Oprah's and many other celebrities eyebrows, Anastasia of Beverly Hills, as she is known for all her amazing eyebrow goodies!

Fast forward to internet issues, I could not upload all the photos in time before I had to leave, hence my 3.5 minute make-up.

So you may have though this was just a one time challenge, but this is more like my everyday make-up (ha ha ha):

My one exception...today I swiped on my favorite of all favorite lipliners: CHERRY from MAC and I actually did my eyebrows too! I know, fan-say!

But tomorrow I promise you will see all the wonder that was at the Tea Party, you might even be surprised to see a little well known someone's in my pictures! hee hee

And as i'm typing this in the Youtube Office Lobby, someone just slid down a giant fireman's pole, from the 2nd floor, there are guys filming a helicopter something outside, and guys playing an old school video game! Only at a Youtube office! ha ha ha ha ha This is kinda the most awesome, workspace!

3 Minute Make-Up Challenge

How fast can you put your make-up on?

I don't know of too many people that have endless amounts of time to get ready. It's either rushing to get ready for school, you have negative time to get ready if you're a mom, or you're rushing to work or anywhere really!

Now I've done a 3 Minute Make-Up Tutorial, which you can watch by clicking HERE.

But I saw a really fun MAKE-UP CHALLENGE, where you have a timer and have to put all your make-up on in 3 minutes. No thought out plan, no tutorial, just putting it on.

And since I'm always up for a challenge, here you go, the 3 MINUTE MAKEUP CHALLENGE:

Throwback Thursday: So I kinda had the same hair 12 years ago....

Happy Throwback Thursday and what better way to celebrate with some pictures from back in the day when people actually had to go get pictures developed to see them! ha ha ha ha

So, both of these pictures were taken at the same time: about 12 years ago (so yes I was an old looking 6 year old, ha ha ha ha)

But the funny thing is, it's almost the same exact hair cut and color that I have now! Maybe every decade this will be my haircut!
So pretty much I did NOT copy Miley Cyrus' hair, I just went back to one of my old favorite haircuts, and Miley shaved the sides....I'm not gonna do that, yet anyways! ha ha ha

These pictures were taken by my friend, Marc Cartwright, back when we were both in the beginning of our careers, me as a make-up artist, he as a photographer. We met on a shoot we were hired to do and we became friends.

He also took this picture:

And then years later he took this picture....when my hair was wayyyy longer and back to it's natural color!

That turned out to be a buffet of throwback pics! Hee Hee

How To Keep Going When You Feel Like Giving Up

At some point in our lives we've felt like giving up on something. Giving up on a relationship, going after our dream, maybe even on life all together. Maybe today as you read this, you are feeling that way right now.

We all now that feeling, even the happiest of happy people, have woken up, only to wish they were still asleep and didn't need to face the day. And I hope that this little bit of words, will speak to your heart and stir up that success story inside you, stir up that champion in you, and stir up the joy that is waiting to help get you through!

John Mason said: "There is a common thread that runs through the lives of exceptional people. They are beaten over the head, knocked down, vilified, and for years get nowhere. But every time they're knocked down, they stand up. You cannot destroy these people."

Life is gonna throw some poop at us, we are going to make bad choices that might dump a pile of poop on our lap, and maybe keep dumping that poop on us for a while, or we might have people that are not so good for us, throw poop at us!

Now, we can either say, oh life is just poop and I can't take it anymore, or "going after my dream is pointless so I just better settle for this poop life, poop relationship, poop attitude........"

BUT, let me remind you that some of the most beautiful blossoms in the world, grew from a lot of poop (AKA manure) in their soil!

•If you are going through a rough break-up: remember that you smiled and laughed and had fun long before you knew this person and you will smile and laugh again, without them. And sometimes God will pull the weeds from our lives, so that a beautiful flower can grow instead. And sometimes we can't even realize that it was a "weed" until much later! ha ha ha

•If you feel like all your dreams will never happen: remember that every great dreamer felt this way, but kept going! Sometimes it's the problem that we face and find a way around, to do something differently, that actually becomes the very reason for the success!

•If you feel like your finances or job, or lack of a job are getting you down: Sometimes it's been in the very moments of losing a job, that you are able to take a new job, you never would've thought of, or started a new business and it turns into something more successful than you ever thought! Sometimes what looks like a loss, is actually the stepping stone to your greatest success.
I know of a story of a guy who, had his car totaled on the first day of his job, in the parking lot. He didn't even like his new job, but as he spoke with the insurance man about his car and how it was his first day on the job, the insurance man said how nice and friendly he was, and that they were hiring. He ended up getting a job at the insurance company, making more money, all thanks to what looked like a really bad day! We must look for treasures and opportunity blessings all the time. Sometimes they are hiding in the middle of what looks like a BIG problem!

•If you just don't feel like waking up and going on: Know that today, you can choose to make one small step to making a difference in your own life! Go on a walk in the sunshine, listen to your favorite happy song, remind yourself of what you love, like and what makes you happy! You never know if tomorrow or next week might hold the moment that will be the best day of your life so far, waiting with a blessing bigger than you could've ever dreamed!

And know that any success worth having came with a lot of work, and a lot of moments when you are feel like you're too tired to go on, and usually a lot of people telling you how you are no good, and it will never workout. And there is no worthwhile success story that happened overnight. There are many months and years that go unspoken when talking about "overnight success"!

If you feel like you've reached where the road stops, the "pavement ends"...all that means is, it's time to put on your trail running shoes and blaze a trail where maybe, no one else has gone.

CHALLENGE OF THE DAY: Refuse to give in to the temptation to quit!
All great champions and successful people refuse to quit. Yes, things may get hard, the road may be bumpy, you may feel like giving up.....but you won't. You won't stop until you're reached the top, and you will have the most awesome, success story to go with it!

You don't have a good success story without major moments of things looking like they weren't going to work out!

The words:
I CANNOT: have never produces anything
I WILL TRY: Is almost like giving up
I WILL: is going for something with determination, even if small at first
I CAN: is building up the belief and positivity you need to make something great out of your life

What are you going to commit to doing today besides, NOT GIVING UP?

You were born to succeed, don't let the poop of life, people's words, what others are doing, or some hardships stop you! Be like a hurdler, running and jumping over each "hurdle problem", each time getting faster at it, jumping higher, so whatever problem come your way...you say, "no problem, I can do this! And it will make me jump higher, be more creative, grow stronger, develop more character than I had before."

3 Reasons Not To Be So Hard On Yourself

We are all human. We ALL make mistakes. But how you handle the mistakes in your life will MAKE THE BIGGEST DIFFERENCE to decide if you will go on to have a victorious life, filled with a success story or if you will always be the victim and just turn your life into one big depressing, sob story, with little or no success.

So here's 3 tips on how to handle the mistakes when they come, and they will. If you think your life is mistake free, then that is the FIRST mistake you've already made! Whether your mistake was a bad relationship, doing something harmful to yourself, just making ANY bad choice, you know what yours are, here's some things that will help:

#1. STOP LOOKING BACK AND WISHING YOU HADN'T DONE "IT"
Whatever your "it" is, quit wasting your precious time wallowing in "oh if only I had done that differently...." OR "I just wish I could go back and .....", well, you can't. And to live in the past is crazy, because you can't go back and change one thing, and thinking about it all the time is just going to make you CRAZY, frustrated and depressed.
Mistakes happen, they're a part of life, and we're going to make more. If you didn't you'd be some super human that needs to go down in the record books for a life free of mistakes.
Get yourself a ticket out of "Wish I, Coulda-Woulda"-LAND, it's a place where no one is going anywhere. It's like me spending all my time wishing I had green eyes, that's not gonna change their color and even if I tried to pretend they are green with contacts, it's just going to look fake and weird.

#2. SOMETIMES OUR "MISTAKES" OR FAILURES CAN BE OUR BIGGEST BLESSINGS
I remember when people said that me having Jordan, even though I was already married, but was really young, was a huge mistake. Jordan has been my greatest blessing, and without him, I wouldn't have been led to a series of other choices, that eventually got me to a place which looked like even more mistaken choices, that actually led me to start writing my blogs and doing youtube. And I wouldn't even be writing this today if it wasn't for all those things that went wrong.
That is what I think is one of the great things about God, he can use what might look like our greatest mistakes, and because God is about GRACE, he can turn what looks like a mess into a beautiful masterpiece that we never dreamed of.

#3. YOUR GREATEST HEARTACHES CAN BE YOUR GREATEST GIFTS (to others)
When you go through something, it can give you a heart, sympathy, kindness, and understanding for others who've gone through the same thing, that you didn't have before.

I know what it feels like to lose a loved one, be alone, choose relationships just because your lonely and not because it's the best relationship, I know what it feels like to be cheated on, broken up with, divorced, be a single mom, to feel like others are doing better than you, that your not good enough, pretty enough, thin enough, popular enough, all those things and more. But know that you are more precious than diamonds and each mistake or failure can add to your sparkling success story, you can be a sparkly, disco ball, "cracked mirror", like I always say:

"A cracked mirror sparkles more light than a perfect one. Go out their and be the most perfectly-imperfect sparkly disco ball of light in this world"

Mistakes and bad choices are a part of life. Accept that and learn from your mistakes so you become wiser, stronger, and grow a bigger heart that is full of more love and understanding for others. And, as you give yourself more understanding and room to make mistakes and go easy on yourself, you'll find that you will do that for others too! And that is what the world needs, more people who are understanding. It's usually the people pointing fingers at others, that actually hold a life full of big mistakes that they haven't healed from, so instead they point out what others are doing wrong to make themselves feel better.

Be the person that is wiser, and understands more, and offers a heart of forgiveness and understanding. Because your only other alternative is to be bitter, depressed, frustrated and living in the past. And if you're living in the past, well, that's almost like you're crazy, because that's not real or possible unless your name is Marty McFly.

And remember, our lives our like tapestries,

we may only be able to see the one side that looks like knots and tangles thread, but on the other side, each one of those knots and tangles are a part of a beautiful picture.

I've been through what I thought were huge failures, and sometimes those huge failures are the exact thing that helped me get to an even bigger blessing and opportunity. Remember, the greatest, most successful people in the world know a secret:

That you "fail" your way to success!

Leave your past where it belongs, in the past.

Learn from your lessons and embrace mistakes.

Know that the people who point out the mistakes of others, usually have way BIGGER mistakes they have hidden in their hearts.

And remember sometimes a failure or what looks like a mistake, is actually just the manure in your garden to help your flowers grow that much more beautiful!

And I just made a mistake. I stayed up until 3am editing a video, and realized I left a part out, and now have to film it and add it in. Instead of saying, "oh, I was up til 3am for nothing!", I'm saying "It's gonna be even better now, I know it!"

I kissed a boy....but we're not dating.

I spent the last two days filming a video with more than just myself, which is how I normally roll, but it was like I was really going to work and had a boss. Yes, they hired me to play a part in youtube/commercial. My roll: Melissa -A girl who has been internet dating

*yes we had a part where Chester had to kiss Melissa (me)...I made a vlog that I need to edit, I'll put it up later. Chester probably kisses girls everyday. Me, I was worried I might just give him an Eskimo kiss or something.

These were the shoes I wore, yes they are mine, and they hurt my feet. So, I wore my VANS that you see there, until I had to put my Jeffrey Campbells back on- cute but these are not comfy.

I saw this awesome, box thing, that they tried to hide by putting an exact picture of the street on it! How awesome is that!?

I love working on sets, it reminds me back in my days before youtube, when I was not in front of the camera, put putting makeup on everyone that was.
One of my favorite parts is the food. This was the breakfast table....and although the donuts looked tasty, I had an omelet and pineapple, I love pineapple. (insert me patting myself on the back for not eating that donuts)

But don't worry, later I drank this milkshake!

And A huge PS, I think I'm thinking, of thinking about doing a "let's get in shape for summer" video or series of blogs or something, because well, I'm gonna do it everyone might as well do it with me! ha ha ha

•I had also custom painted some shoes, that were Becca's favorite, but that went over the 30 minutes to do!

Cindo De Mayo and my sister...

That is me, my blue eyed little niece, and my bff, AKA my sister, Tiffany. Now people don't think we're twins that our hair color is different....hee heee, well actually they still do.

What were you doing yesterday, on Cinco De Mayo? Well at about 11:30am, this is what we were doing: We were at the Melrose Trading Post, buying these kids sunglasses for Ellie and getting me a new hat.

If you wanted to know what I've got on, this is it:
*BLACK CARDIGAN -which already has some "vintage looking" holes, from FOREVER21.
*HOUNDSTOOTH TANK TOP - again, the F21.
*BELT- it's one of the oldest things I own, I got it at Ross like a billion years ago.
*RED SHOES- Breckell's from PLNDR. I love them and they are reeeedonkulously comfortable. Because you know I'm a sneaker-kind of girl.
JEANS - Boyfriend jeans - 7 For All Mankind Jeans in Josephina (the cutest boyjeans) I refused to buy expensive jeans, until I bought a pair, realized I lived in them and they became worth every penny, because they last forever and they flatter your figure better than the "saggy-pulling-them-up-all-day" cheapo jeans that fall apart.
HEADSCARF- it's just a bandana I have in my giant bandana/scarf drawer!
SILVER NECKLACE- back to the Forever 21 again!
EARRINGS- cross earrings I got at Claire's.

And since we are part Mexican, well , even if we weren't, we got Cinco De Mayo cupcakes. And actually they were just regular cupcakes, but they put the CINCO sticker on all the Sprinkles cupcake boxes yesterday! They should have made a Mexican Hot Chocolate flavor or FLAN flavor cupcake! I've got cupcake ideas for days! ha ha ha

But the best part was getting to see my sister. She makes me laugh so hard I cry. And she shares my love of cupcakes, speed walking (we've been known since high school for walking really fast), and she gives me great advice if I'm not sure if something looks cute that I'm trying on. She's been able to do that for years!

I miss her and wish we were neighbors....and I can't get enough of her babies...and my babies love playing with her babies....just look again at her sunglass-cutie:

3 Things You Need To Know About Handshakes

Yes, I've been a part of a few handshakes in my life and today I'm about to tell you 3 things that make a good handshake, well good. I personally am a "hugger", but everyone needs to know the "Art of The Handshake"- you will shake a hand or two every now and again.

My model for the day, happens to be someone you may have seen or heard before, a man by the name of Simon Cowell. (PS. To think that Simon Cowell would ever, say my name, let alone say that he is a fan of mine, well, I just wish I could've told the me, that ate lunch by herself that, or the me that was in a relationship where someone told me that all my dreams were "pipe dreams", or well, my list could go on and on....as you will see in the video, I almost fell off my chair!)

BACK TO THE BUSINESS AT HAND...(total pun intended)

THE 3 THINGS THAT MAKE A GOOD HANDSHAKE

#1. Don't offer your hand like:

a. you are a princess

b. your wrist is broken

c. your are doing an impression of a dead fish with your hand

DO make sure you offer straight out, thumb up and open your hand like it's a welcome sign to say: PUT ER' RIGHT THERE BUDDY!

#2. WRAP YOUR STICKY FINGERS ROUND' THEIR HAND, MAN!

LIKE SO:

DO NOT be "Princess Dead Fish Hand" that just sets your hand out for them to squeeze.
• People that do that seem weak and or like you aren't good enough to bother shaking their hand.
•Neither one of those are impressions you want to make.
•Grab their hand firmly, but gently.
NO NEED TO SHOW ANYONE HOW STRONG YOU ARE WITH YOUR HAND-CRUSHING HANDSHAKE- that'd be like squeezing someone as hard as you can when you hug them....not the idea!
•I once had a girl try to squeeze my hand so hard, it pressed my poor fingers against my rings so hard I thought she broke a finger or two. Don't be Captain Hand Crusher.

#3. PRACTICE THE 1-2 SHAKE:
DON'T just stick your hand out and give a one, "I salute you" shake. That seems like a police officer or army general would shake your hand like that. A handshake is supposed to be a friendly, social greeting and farewell.
• What you want to do is a fast and firm- once, twice...three times a lady... Just kidding. A quick 1-2 of hand shaking, any more than 3 shakes and it's just awkward.

How To Let Go Of Bad Relationships

We are designed to love other and to be loved by others. People forget that in the world, and just focus on themselves sometimes and the thought of loving others:
A. Just plain scares people
B. They don't know how to do that
C. They are too selfish to care about others
D. Are afraid of loving others, in case they might get hurt or rejected

But I'm here to tell you, not all "relationships are created equal". And just because someone is willing to, or says they are your friend, DOES NOT MEAN they are a good friend and that you need to keep spending your time on them.

Be careful who you choose to surround yourself with, because whether you like it or not, good or awful, you will become like the people around you.

“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” - Jim Rohn

*You hang around rude, sarcastic, negative people- guess what you are going to start becoming like.

*You hang around people who are materialistic, that only care about using people to help themselves, and just post pictures of themselves showing off everywhere - guess who you are going to try to keep up with?

*You hang around judgmental people who make fun of others, who care more about making them selves feel better by making fun of others- guess what you might be tempted to start thinking?

#1. You need to look at the people you spend time with, or who call themselves '"your friend".

#2. Do they make you feel bad.
-Whether they subtly try to make you feel bad, or they go out of their way to make you feel bad, that's not a friend. A friend loves at all times.

#3. Do they make you feel less cool, less important, less successful, less anything than they are?
- If they do, that is not a friend. A friend would never want you to feel "less than them" in any way.

#4. Do they just use you?
- I have friends that have used me for something they wanted, and it hurts to see that once they've used you help them, they move on to use someone for something else. Part of being a friend is helping each other out, but that's not what I'm talking about...everyone know in their heart when someone is just using you, and then they move on to become bff's with a new person until they use them for what they want, then their on to the next. That is not a friend- that is someone that manipulates others into thinking they're friends to get what they want before they move on to their next "friend".

#5. Do they call you names or make fun of you?
-It's one thing to joke around with your friend, and you both laugh at your or their funny hair that day, or how you said something wrong and you both cracked up, but if they are just making fun of you, what you're wearing, what you said, how you talk- any of those. That's not a friend, that a "frenemy, they almost get a selfish pleasure out of making themselves seem funny at others expense.

#6. Are they mean to others?
- Any one that makes fun of others, is not cool in my book. If you have a heart, that wants to make fun of anyone for any reason, it looks like they have a small heart and a "small mind". People with big hearts love others and make them feel good, and people with "big minds" have an open mind and appreciate others being different, looking different, dressing different, and think it's great we're all not the same! It would be a very boring world if we were all the same!

Someone that talks about others behind their back to you, will most likely talk about you behind your back also.

#7. Are they a bad influence?
This can be anything from them being lazy and making you feel bad for being motivated, or they get bad grades and make you feel bad for studying, or they do things you know is wrong or even illegal.
Even a friend that is really materialistic and only cares about money and fancy things can be a bad influence! ha ha ha

Analyze, Listen to your Heart, and Make A Decision
If any of your "friends" make you feel like any of the ways above, it's time to get away from those friends so you can make time to make some new real friends.

I am naturally a really happy, positive person that doesn't make fun of others, but I have had friends in the past that were negative, sarcastic and made fun of others. And it made me tone down my happiness, and if they were all complaining about things, I felt like an outsider for not joining in and I couldn't stand being around them for very long.

I've also had friends that used me for something, pretended to be a close friend, then when they got what they wanted, they went on to be besties with the next person they could use.

THINGS YOU MIGHT NEED TO DO:
1. Stop spending time with your "toxic friend".
-If you are spending your time hanging out with "bad" friends, how are you ever gonna have room to meet new friends.

2. Stop Following Them on Their Social Media
- Now that social media is a part of our world, this is an extension of having them in your life and thoughts, and the negativity and negative way the effect you can still be felt through someone's instagram feed, tweets and faceboook. As we all know, people mostly use social media to show off the "coolest" part of their day or life, or to complain! ha ha ha

3. Learn the Art and Awesomeness of Being Alone
-yes, in school this may seem like the sign of "huge loser-dom", but I and many people I know, were all a part of the the "I ain't go nobody to eat with group". But how are you gonna meet anyone new if you're busy with all your old meanie friends anyway! This is like the person who's never single and free to meet the right person, so they just keep dating the wrong person, because they're afraid to be alone. Well you're not going to meet anyone unless your single! ha ha ha

-and, I've even gone to the movies by myself, which is awesome. No one is talking your ear off during the good part, or annoying you with how loudly they are chewing their popcorn! ha ha ha

-annnnnd, in the adult world, anywhere you go during lunch time, you'll see tons of people on their lunch break, doing guess what?!? EATING ALONE! ha ha ha ha

-Starbucks has turned "eating or, drinking" alone into an art, where people sit by themselves for hours in Starbucks....all aloooone!

BOTTOM LINE:
You are precious, awesome, and one cool individual that deserves to have friends that think the same thing. If you have a friend, that just makes you feel bad in any way, then it's time to sail on the sea of finding a new friend. One of my dearest friends, was met when I wasn't even looking: we both worked at a job we didn't like, and I didn't even think we'd become friends, now she's one of my dearest friends.

Just like jeans, it's not about how many you own, it's about having that one pair that fits great! You don't need a closet full of poorly fitting pant-friends, one just need one pair-friend, that fits you just right!

And always remember, even if you feel all alone, I'm like your "virtual bff", even when I'm sleeping you hang out with me in my videos on youtube! hee hee

8 Things You Need To Do This Month to Make it a-MAY-zing!

Hooray it's May!

We have a brand spankin' new set of weeks wrapped up in a bow named, May, to live to make it as awesome as we want! Here are some things I think we all need to do this month to make it greater than last month!

#1. GET EXCITED!

This month is a blank set of time, just waiting to be made fabulous by you!

Don't just live for Friday, because we only have 4-5 Fridays a month, and that's an awful lot of days to not be excited about! Make each day great no matter what the name of the day, and no matter if you have school, work or play...each day can be awesome. Start making everyday as fun as a Friday, even if you have piles of work, you be the fun in the middle of the work. A smile, a song, a dance break, can make any job a little better!

* Don't you dare let your problems rule you! Instead you call all your PROBLEMS, CHALLENGES. I learned this from my dad. He said, don't give the challenges in your life the power over you to be called a problem, a problem needs a solution, and sometimes their isn't a solution. But there is always a way to overcome, get through, get stronger, get wiser, become better for not giving up! And sometimes what looks like a problem, is really just a ladder to a new level of success, that you wouldn't stretch out and try, unless you had to move out of your comfort zone, and dare or be pushed to an extreme to try something new or new a way of doing something.

*YOU ARE A CHAMPION, AND CHAMPIONS GET KNOCKED DOWN, BUT THEY ALWAYS GET BACK UP. IF YOU STOP GETTING BACK UP, YOU'VE FORGOTTEN YOU WERE BORN A CHAMPION...SO GET BACK UP AND KEEP GOING!

#3. Hunt For Treasures and Blessings In Your Day

Each day passes away and we climb back in bed, just like the night before, but what did you do differently than the night before when you climbed in bed?!? Did you spend your day looking for the small, sparkles of joy, trying to catch your eye, or did you get blinded and mesmerized by a big ugly "problem".

Each day comes wrapped with little treasures in it, sometimes we are so busy being upset, stressed out, or depressed that we don't even notice the treasures.

And sometimes the treasure come wrapped inside, what looks like a big old, ugly problem!

*Many businesses were started when someone lost their job, had nothing else, or anything to lose, but to finally try to start their dream business, or go after what they never could when they were busy working away at that job! Always keep an eye out for the blessing that might look like it's wrapped up in a bunch of junk.

#4. Get out and go for a walk in the great outside!

#5. Feel the sunshine on your skin, look at the flowers blooming, let yourself get re-charged!

#6. Eat some yummy fresh fruit.

#7. Get a workout in, so your feel fit and fabulous and strong.

#8. Laugh! Watch your favorite funny movie!

5 Foods & Drinks To Avoid To Look Younger

Okay, some of these you may already know, and I'm not preaching to you, I need to be reminded of these myself. And as you know, I am guilty, if you follow me on instagram you will see all my posts of cupcakes and rainbow sprinkled covered fro-yo! But I will say, I patted myself on the back, when I avoided the ice cream shop, even though my tastebuds really wanted one. Now, this doesn't mean you have to cut all these out of your life...everything in moderation, and don't eat a whole bag of sour gummi candies as a meal, like I have before! hee hee hee
And make wise food choices as often as possible- If I just ate what tasted good, I would live on cupcakes and hot chocolate- but instead I'll make my smoothie (recipe video at the bottom) to balance out when I go on a cupcake spree!
So let's get this party started...

#1. SUGAR - awwww man! I have more than a sweet tooth, I have a sweet jaw full of teeth!
*Turns out, our moms were right, sugar is no good for our health or our skin!
*Sugar molecules do major damage to not only our internal bodies, but it also our skin. Sugar gives our skin a big shove to having more wrinkles, as fast as possible. Not to mention, making you feel more tired and making you crave more sugar after your sugar "high" has worn off!
*Some studies show that SUGAR ages the skin faster than the sun. (You won't burn or get skin cancer, but sugar will push you to bonus wrinkles just the same!)
The not sweet side of sugar:

has an inflammatory response in the body
lowers your immune system
is awful on your insulin levels
is a mood buster – sugar highs then sugar mood blues
oh and bonus weight gain is always a nice one

#2. CAFFEINE - Your daily cup of joe may give your day a jumpstart, as well as a jumpstart on wrinkles! I've never been a huge coffee drinker, but coffee ice cream is one of my favs, it's a good thing I don't need a bowl of it to start my day.
*Coffee is a diuretic, it dehydrates you. Which is why you always see these "cellulite" treatments with coffee, it just basically dehydrates cells, constricts blood vessels, so you get a temporary illusion from dehydration of the cells. This is like saying, wearing Spanx, helps you lose weight.
Bottom line, any dehydration is no bueno, for your skin cells that need water to stay plump an to help flush out toxins from the skin.
*So all those mocha-frappa-rappa-donka-donk, drinks are not just hittin' ya with the caffeine, but a 1-2 punch of the "bonuses" sugar on top- it basically a wrinkle-booster-in-a-cup! Ha Ha ha ha
*If you have to have your coffee, I suggest drinking a couple extra glasses of water to help hydrate you and your face!
* You are supposed to drink half your weight in ounces: EXAMPLE: you weigh 140 lbs, you need to drink 70 ounces of water to maintain proper hydration. Remember, one of the key component in fatigue is dehydration.

The bad side of caffeine:

exhaustion, fatigue- requiring you to buy more coffee, Starbucks loves this!
addictive
creates artificial highs and lows
insomnia
dehydration

Where it's found: coffee, a lot of teas, soda (watch out for Mt. Dew, it a sugar and caffeine doozy)

#3. ALCOHOL - No matter how many people quote the anti-oxidant power of wine, the damage that the sugars and the dehydration from the alcohol, do more to make your skin de-plumped, and more prune like, which ushers in prune-like wrinkles to be formed and to form a lasting bond with your face! If you can't live without a glass of your favorite whatever, make sure your sipping water right along with your cocktail.
The free gifts of alchol:

Robs you of vitamins especially Vitamin B and minerals
Dehydrates leading to wrinkles- "say hello to my little prune-y face"
Affects brain cells
Ages skin and organs
and no one wants Liver disease, on top of wrinkles! Ha ha ha

#4. TRANS FATS & HYDROGENATED OILS - (also note, that is not butter, butter is ok, well dont' eat a whole stick for a snack or anything, it's margarine that is the bad news)
What is that? It is a process where cheap sources of liquid oils are heated and turned into solid fats. Just take a look at the ingredient list on some of your fav snack and treats and you might be surprised how much hydrogenated "goodness" you'll find.
And these are the lovely things it causes:

Heart disease
Malabsorption of healthy oils
Diabetes
Adult Acne - acne can be caused by the internal inflammation that these cause in our bodies.
Attacks the nervous system

Where it's found: Cakes, cookies, biscuits, pastries, oils, spreads and pretty all kinds snack foods!

#5. FRIED FOODS - (oh sweet french fries!) - the problem is the heating and sometimes re-heating fats and oils. The heat is what changes the chemical balance creating the same problems as those sneaky ol' trans fats.
What it does:

Produces cancer causing chemicals
Increases bad cholesterol
Turns ‘OK’ food into ‘bad’ food (fried zucchini is not a healthy veggie anymore!)
Weight gain and obesity
Ages the skin- you're skin will look crunchy and fried like the food you're eating! ha ha ha

Now you might be thinking, well what am I supposed to eat and drink today! Well, if you have to put down your donut, your barrel of coffee or your jug of soda...this might be a little bit trickier! But hey we're not all going to just live on the veggies we're growing in our imaginary garden, so just limit the junk as much as you can, and eat healthy as much as you can, and go fill up a glass of water right now- AND DRINK IT! ha ha ha And sometimes, like for me, this is a good reminder, to get my food eating on the right track and make it easier to say no to dessert or a side of fries or will stop me from adopting a lonely pint of Coffee Heath Bar Crunch!

I actually had a list of 10 things, but didn't want to overwhelm everyone! And I will say, once when I cut out all sugar (The only sweet things I ate were fruit or berries) for 30 days, I've never seen my skin look so amazing. Oh, you sugar, you!

Maybe I'll do a video of ALL, or at least most of what's in my kit- it's a lot of pro stuff, that is super powered pigment, super long lasting, and special products for weddings, tv, film, video, and for special appearance and any time anyone needs to look really good, for a long time...ha ha ha

SUPER POWER MAKE-UP ESSENTIALS:

RCMA "Vincent Kehoe" or "VK" 18 FOUNDATION & CONCEALER PALETTES- these are the essential foundation/concealer palettes for any make-up artist. You can match ANY and EVERY skin tone from the lightest fair to the deepest dark tone. And I love all these shades of pink!

BEAUTY SO CLEAN - I am a semi-germaphobe! So this is not only a must have for make-up artist, but for anyone that wears make-up. Here is what I'm calling:

THE PRINCESS "DONUT" UPDO

It's got hints of classic pin-up hair, hints of princess hair (did someone say Cinderella?!), and then I'll show you 2 ways- without the hair color streaks, and with some fun pink highlight powder streaks to add a bit of fun and funky to this updo!

Throwback Thursday: 8 Years Ago I looked like this...

In honor of it being my Alani's 8th birthday today (click here to see more on my KANDEELAND blog)...
I thought I'd post what I look like a little over 8 years ago.
As you see me with my mom above, and me with my baby-garden-belly (and my really awesome roots, since I didn't highlight them again while I was pregnant, or after, really!). It's a good thing my hair grows slower than the average human!

And me, with my sister, Tiffany, before she had any of her babies, and still did things like snowboarding. As you can see in the picture, I was not snowboarding!

What's funny is I still own those olive green, wrap-around pants I got at Urban Outfitters, way before I was pregnant and I still own them way after! Talk about bang for your buck!

I'm off to try to edit the hair tutorial for this video:

to get it up for you guys, and to go deliver cupcakes to Alani's class, and to get the house all decorated to surprise her when she comes home from school!

6 Candy Colored Shoes To Fun-Up Any Workout

Now you guys know, I love anything fun and colorful, and anything that reminds me of candy!

So one day, when I was in Sprinkles Cupcakes, (yeah, I know weird place to find a pair of running shoes I'd fall in love with) I saw a lady with the most fun, confetti, party like workout shoes. She must have been celebrating her workout by getting a cupcake!

And they happened to be made my my favorite running shoe makers too- ASICS!

Even if you don't run, these are great workout shoes, or you can just wear them to do errands and you'll look and be really fast! Or like I do, I put them on, thinking I'll have time to workout, only end up wearing them all day and not end up working out.

I started running year and years ago and I've tried all different running shoes from Nike to New Balance, and my favorite shoes are my Asics.

They have incredible cushioning, support, and they are designed with incredible technology.

But the best part, to my eyeballs, is the fun "shoe party" designs they have!

Perfect Pin-Up Princess Make-Over

Our Perfect Pin-Up Princess Prom Make-up!

Where the Magic Happens...or where I film my videos.

I thought it might be fun to show you a "behind the camera" peek at where, how, and what it looks like when I film a video. So here's a "butterfly on the wall", peek at what it looked like yesterday when I filmed a bunch of tutorials: make-up tutorials, a hair tutorial, we even did nails!

This is the BEAUTIFUL MESS, that covered my desk!

And here's a quick break down of the gear (lights, camera, and stuff I use to make my videos:
Now lighting is the most important part! And in many of my videos, especially my first ones, the lighting is atrocious. Sunlight is the best at making everyone look pretty, so I had been in search of "lights like natural window light"...and the guy at the camera shop said these would do the trick! They are no sun, but I guess as good as I can get, well, since I don't have $3,000 LED lights or anything!

LIGHTS: The ones you see above, are the IMPACT OCTOCOOL 9 bulb LIGHTS Youtube gave me a gift card to reward me for so many videos, or something a while ago, so that's when I bought those lights.

CAMERA: I have the Canon T3i Rebel
PROS:
I like it because I can take really beautiful pictures and you can make the background blurry and soft, and you can brighten it up with the lighting options, which is better than the canon "video camera" that I have.
CONS: It doesn't autofocus, and since I'm a team of one, it's hard to focus on my self when I'm sitting in a camera far away from it! ha ha So I have to put something on my chair to focus on, then run around and go sit down!
*I wish is came with a remote to zoom in and out, like my "video camera" one does.

NEXT CAMERA I WANT TO GET:

The Canon Vixia HF G10 Camcorder HD
This baby is supposed to be the bomb-biggity of camcorders, well for now anyways, until the G11 comes out! ha ha ha

WHY I WANT ONE:
*Ability to soft focus background like a DSLR (like my tradition camera).
*Comes with a remote to zoom in and out while filming yourself. I love this!
*20% improvement in low light filming
*up to 12 hours built in HD recording
*10x HD video lens
*9 cinema filters (kinda like instagram for your videos)
*And it's supposed to have a "dramatically improved" instant autofocus ability
*It's got that fancy hood that just makes you look profesh along with helping fight glare
*And the new sensor is supposed to be much better.

And here's me and the precious girls that were my models yesterday for all the tutorials I filmed! We filmed before and afters, a hair tutorial, we even filmed some nails!

Out with the Ombre in with the Sombre!

Ok, the Ombre has been a round a while now, and it hasn't really shown too many sign of slowing down.

I still see ombre's all day, erry' day.

And as you can see, that was me above with my OMBRE, and I even made a video on How To Ombre You Hair, Yourself!

So I asked my friend Kim Vo, celebrity "blonder to the stars", who was also responsible for the Ombre trend taking off and sharing it with the world in 2010, just how it started and will the Ombre go away, and what's next and how to do it!

OMBRE ORIGIN:
He said the Ombre really originated a chic, "recession-ista" way to let your highlights grow out a bit, yet have that effortless-I-just-came-back-from-the-beaches-of-Brazil look, like Gisele Bundchen.

IS THE OMBRE TREND GONE:
Kim, said, no. It's like it's own beast, it adds light and bright to a lot of girls faces, and it's like highlights. It might not be going anywhere for a while, but it will be having a little "ombre make-over" or revamp.

ENTER THE "SOMBRE":
A softer more gentle Ombre. See Kim applying the "Sombre" technique (below), and then the achieved SOMBRE. See, it's a gentler gradation of color and highlight. It looks more like a natural highlight that you'd see in kids hair, that have been playing in the sun and their ends just get a few shades lighter. Not the full on, extreme blonde ends like an Ombre!

Wild Hair, Hauls, and a little video I made in NYC:

I can hear Kid N' Play calling, can you? This was just some of the awesome hair I saw in NYC...the above Graffiti Hair was done by the amazing, Tootdabarber at the International Beauty Show.

And then the hair was about to get bigger and crazier at The Battle of The Strands, NYC qualifying competition, where I got to be a judge, along with "Blonde-er to the Stars", Kim Vo and the editor-in-chief, of American Salon, Kelley Donahue.

This was the team from the Oscar Blandi Salon, that won with their Cotton Candy Girl theme:

Even her "dress" was made of hair, fake hair that is!

And I loved the "butterfly inspired make-up" that the team from Hair and The City's, make-up maven, Raven did!

And I got a little 30 minute break in my 36 hours of being in NYC, to run down the street to the Urban Outfitters, that was near my hotel (I actually was hoping to find a new shirt to wear for the Battle Of The Strands, but ended up wearing the same one! ha ha ha)...so I filmed a little "NYC See what I got" video...

And I even found the instax cameras that I fell in love with after Gala Darling, Rocknroll Bride, and NubbyTwiglet showed me theirs at The Blogcademy. Is was "insta-instax-love"!
