As many of you already know I've spent a lot of time searching and studying this very topic. It seems the more it comes out the more hush, hush seems to come out on this very topic. Anyone that know anything about the Bible knows what this system actually is.
It's not rocket science to figure out what the technology brings. After all Eventually we will no longer be able to buy or sell without it right?

IBM recently released its annual tradition of five predictions for five years in to the future — among them, the belief that passwords will become redundant.
Generation Y, rejoice! No longer will you struggle with attempting to remember the password for your Facebook account, Twitter, Gmail, games networks — the list goes on. We’ve all had those moments, cursing under our breath, when after three attempts you are locked out just as you remember the actual word and number combination. Or even worse, forced to fill out mud-smear captchas until your eyes start to swim.
According to IBM, future generations won’t need to suffer this kind of hardship.

As a kid, I marveled at movies featuring retina or hand scanners, or instant DNA analysis to authenticate the bad guy to his vault. As an adult, I figured these devices would mean the end of passwords and spoofing and would bring the collision of sci-fi future and real-world security. Sadly, I still don't have a retina scanner at my desk. What I do have are so many passwords that I need a password manager to keep them straight.

I don't blame companies for hesitating to invest--biometrics systems still have problems, despite IBM’s prediction of advances. A prime example is how some fingerprint readers fell victim to the highly advanced gummy bear attack, in which a user acquires a gummy bear, applies it to the reader, and presses down. The sensor reads the fingerprint from the last user, which has now transferred to the gummy bear. The reader is defeated, the gummy-wielding attacker is authenticated as the previous user, and the system has become worthless. Organizations have been forced to replace hardware and software in light of this attack and revert to legacy methods, such as passwords, that are not vulnerable to rubbery candy.

ORONO, Maine — Hand scanners are now commonly used for students to gain entry to University of Maine dining halls as a way to foil the costly sharing of student identification cards.
The hand scanners, installed in Hilltop, Wells and York dining commons last semester, are mandatory for all students with an unlimited meal plan. Within the next few years the university plans to require their use by all students who eat at the dining halls.
The scanners were installed to keep costs down and eliminate the sharing of MaineCards, a practice that can cost UMaine up to $4,100 per card, the price of a meal plan for an academic year, according to Director of Auxiliary Services Dan Sturrup and Director of Dining Operations Kathy Kittiridge.
“The scanners were installed to ensure the integrity of our contracts so we can keep our prices low,” Sturrup said in an interview.
“If people are sharing meal plans, it increases food costs, which in turn increases the costs overall for students,” Kittiridge added.
The scanners cost UMaine $331 per unit. The total expense was about $5,000, including installation costs, which came directly out of the auxiliary services budget, according to Sturrup and Director of Technology Management Benny Veenhof.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama unveiled a defense strategy on Thursday that calls for greater U.S. military presence in Asia and envisions cutting troops in Europe as the Pentagon seeks to reduce spending by nearly half a trillion dollars after a decade of war.

Obama, in a Pentagon news conference alongside Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, released a strategy document that calls for the United States to maintain a force that can win one war while still having the capability to deter the objectives of an adversary in a second conflict.

That is a shift away from the military's often repeated goal of being able to fight and prevail in two wars in different theaters simultaneously.

The more I look into this new bill signed by our President on New Years Eve the more I have to question it. What is the Law of America now? Do we Live under the Constitution still? Or this Law now passed by Obama? There is no possible way we can do both.

For each of the past forty-eight years, Congress has passed the misnamed National Defense Authorization Act to set forth the budget of the Defense Department. President Obama just signed into law the latest version of the NDAA, but not without some controversy.

The House originally passed this 1145-page bill (H.R.1540) back on May 26 by a vote of 322-96. Only six Republicans voted against the bill (Justin Amash, John Campbell, Jason Chaffetz, John Duncan, Tom McClintock, & Ron Paul).

The 926-page Senate version of the bill (S.1867) was passed on December 1 by a vote of 93-7. Only three Republicans voted against the bill (Tom Coburn, Mike Lee, & Rand Paul). The Senate then incorporated the measure in a now 908-page H.R.1540 as an amendment.

Happy New Year. No more rights to a Fair Trial.

President Obama Signs Indefinite Detention Bill Into Law

This is what I find very sad. This very Law that just past should be all over the Main Stream News. Yet, as I keep looking I see nothing on it whatsoever?
Whether or not you like Alex. He has this totally right. This is something that should be all over the News and it is not.
Wake Up America it is now law.
This new law breaks so many rights the Constitution gives the Citizens of the United States of America. I cannot for the life of me understand how or why this is not getting more coverage. This law is taking away your rights as an American, and this isn't even being talked about? Really?

Specifically, Obama wrote:

My administration will not authorize the indefinite military detention without trial of American citizens … Indeed, I believe that doing so would break with our most important traditions and values as a nation.

But a closer reading shows that the signing statement is just smoke and mirrors.
Specifically, it was Obama - not Congress – who originally requested that an exception for American citizens be removed from the bill. As such, his professed reluctance is wholly disingenuous.
Moreover, Obama signed a bill which would allow future presidents to indefinitely detain U.S. citizens, and his signing statement in no way limits their power to run roughshod over our rights.

Federal Government Takes Final Step to Suspend Constitution

http://RTR.org | In what can only be considered a tragic irony, the U.S. Senate passed out of the final conference committee the controversial National Defense Authorization Act of 2012, coinciding with the 220th Anniversary of the ratification of the Bill of Rights. Section 1031 of the National Defense Authorization Act otherwise known as the NDAA, provides broad authority for the federal government to use the military in domestic operations in order to detain Americans indefinitely and without trial. Such a move not only whitewashes the natural rights of Americans, whereby even publicly criticizing the federal government can now rise to the purposefully vague definition of a "belligerent act", it also sits in direct violation of "Posse Comitatus" an 1878 law forbidding use of the military at home and against Americans. As Congressman Paul stated, the bill requires absolutely no supporting evidence to issue the order of detention, instead leaving it up to the whim of the Executive Branch to act as Judge, Jury, and in some cases having already decreed the power to assassinate Americans earlier in the year, executioner.

The danger behind allowing any law that includes such arbitrary terms, as "belligerent act" simply cannot be overstated as the Department of Homeland Security has already published multiple reports labeling those who support the Constitution or protest the FEDERAL RESERVE to be "domestic belligerents" and thus in the eyes of the federal government a threat to National Security.

Finally. It's nice to see the REAL NEWS about all this. It's not politics. It's about our Freedom and our Constitutional Rights as Americans. Not a Democracy. We are a Republic. Not a MOB, What is going to be the Media's excuse for this one? Republican, Democrats and The Church needs to wake up. Now is that time to do something instead of sitting around complaining calling them names, like is see so many doing right now. Stop believing the Media The first and second amendments go hand in hand. I wonder how many people know them both today?

While Average Americans sit around gripping about the other side of politics. A movement is happening where not just one side is voicing what they believe and know. While Many and I mean many people are trying to make this all about Political issues and elections. The reality is this. We all have a chance to stand up right now. Instead of gripping and calling people names online thinking it's about taking away your jobs. We should be out there teaching and showing the Truth in all this.
I see the Tea Party calling these people Mobs for going out for doing exactly what they are doing. Yet, I have also come to realize that the Tea Party somehow is making all this Political as well? The really Tea Party should be out in the middle of all this.

I have seen Christians complaining how Islam is in the streets praying. I'm not sure what they expect if they are not out in the Streets Praying in a time like this.

30,000 move on to Liberty Plaza! No Arrests

Anyone that has kept up with Today's World News should know by now this was going to come. It was just a matter of time. If the people who think they run this Country don't wake up to the fact the People have had enough. This just may get a bit ugly. We have watched world wide the people in Egypt, Libya, Damascus, Iran, among many others. Did people actually think it wasn't going to happen here? This is just the beginning.
Wall Street. The Banks and the Government seem to not even care about any of this. Even though thousands are out in numbers all over the Country? What's really going on?
I cannot count how many posts I've shared on the events the led up to this. Some may say "Your Crazy, The Government isn't hiding anything, It's not the banks. and so on. Or what about the Tea Party? They are crazy to right? Wake up People. It's about America and it values and Morals. Being a Free Nation Matters to these people. A Nation under control and dictatorship will only make it even worse.

We were born Free.

I will do my best to try to keep up with the events going on here. Sorry for not posting lately. It gets a bit frustrating when it seems Nobody wants to know the truth anymore.

Today was a big day for Occupy Wall St. More people then ever before showed up for the march that may very well leave a foot print in history. More than 30,000 people from Foley Square to Zuccotti Park. The numbers of people has increased from 500 during the day to now 30,000 in just a matter of one week. The atmosphere was more exhilarating than anyone has experienced. Multiple people said they could feel the energy and it made them feel as if they were in a euphoric state of mind.
The march to Foley Square consisted of about 2,000 people. The goal was to march to the park and meet up with everyone from the unions. A total of 30 unions supported us today. Not only did we meet everyone from the unions but the city of New York itself. Speeches from all the union representatives helped get the crowd excited and build the energy. Back at headquarters the crew is scrambling to make sure everything stays in order and the cameras are rolling. Access to the city cameras was obtained and used to monitor the march. Once Foley Square was finished the NYPD blocked off traffic for the enormous crowd that walked down Broadway. Once everyone was at Zuccotti Park we all sang and danced to the beat of drums and bellowing voices.

A new angle on Occupy Wall Street reveals the strong micro community that has formed there.

Journalist Luke Rudkowski was attacked by police Wednesday night while trying to document the Occupy Wall Street arrests in NY. NYPD used pepper spray, batons, and brute force to move protesters away from the entrance to Wall Street after many tried to push through police barricades. Rumors immediately circulated that police provocateurs dressed as protesters were to blame for the incident.

The Rockefellers are Luciferians, championing this fallen angelic being as a bringer of wisdom and knowledge to mankind. Their esteem of Lucifer is revealed in the artwork found at Rockefeller Center.

Prometheus Bringing Sacred Fire to Man

The statue of Prometheus bringing fire down from heaven and giving it to mankind, is one of the most evident pieces of art found on the Rockefeller Center complex. It is a re-telling of the story of Lucifer who offered to mankind the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. An Internet website shares the following commentary on this statue found on the Rockefeller property.

This statue depicts Prometheus, a Titan of Greek mythology known for his great intelligence. He has however betrayed the god Zeus by stealing fire and giving it to mankind. He is credited to have taught mankind the arts of civilization such as writing, mathematics, agriculture, medicine, and science. Zeus then punished Prometheus for his crime by having him bound to a rock while a great eagle ate his liver every day only to have it grow back to be eaten again the next day.

Paul Manship’s sculpture featured in the Sunken Plaza of the Rockefeller Center portrays Prometheus holding the fire stolen from Zeus and gliding towards humanity. He lies inside a ring in which are outlined the signs of the Zodiac. Behind the statue is an inscription saying:

“Prometheus, teacher in every art, brought the fire that hath proved to mortals a means to mighty ends.”

Substitute the name Prometheus for Lucifer, and you will perceive the true substance of this monument. Lucifer was judged by God, not for a benevolent act on behalf of mankind. Lucifer’s fall actually occurred prior to Adam and Eve’s residency in Eden. It is described by the prophet Isaiah

"How you have fallen from heaven, O star of the morning, son of the dawn! You have been cut down to the earth, you who have weakened the nations! But you said in your heart, 'I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God, and I will sit on the mount of assembly in the recesses of the north. Rockefeller Center

This complex of 19 commercial buildings is situated between Fifth and Seventh avenues in New York City and is famous for its Art Deco style. It is one of the last building projects in the United States to have incorporated a program of public art. The submissions chosen all fit a particular philosophy and some artists have been asked to change their work so it fits the theme of the Rockefeller center which is: Luciferianism.

The Devil—Lucifer—is a force for good (where I define ‘good’ simply as that which I value, not wanting to imply any universal validity or necessity to the orientation). ‘Lucifer’ means ‘light-bringer’ and this should begin to clue us in to his symbolic importance. The plan, called the National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace and introduced earlier this year, encourages the private-sector development and public adoption of online user authentication systems. Think of it as a driver’s license for the Internet. The idea is that if people have a simple, easy way to prove who they are online with more than a flimsy password, they’ll naturally do more business on the Web. And companies and government agencies, like Social Security or the I.R.S., could offer those consumers faster, more secure online services without having to come up with their own individual vetting systems.
If the plan works, consumers who opt in might soon be able to choose among trusted third parties — such as banks, technology companies or cellphone service providers — that could verify certain personal information about them and issue them secure credentials to use in online transactions.
Industry experts expect that each authentication technology would rely on at least two different ID confirmation methods. Those might include embedding an encryption chip in people’s phones, issuing smart cards or using one-time passwords or biometric identifiers like fingerprints to confirm substantial transactions. Banks already use two-factor authentication, confirming people’s identities when they open accounts and then issuing depositors with A.T.M. cards, says Kaliya Hamlin, an online identity expert known by the name of her Web site, Identity Woman.

A kidnapped Christian convert from Islam was found decapitated on Sept. 2 on the outskirts of Hudur City in Bakool region, in southwestern Somalia.

Juma Nuradin Kamil was forced into a car by three suspected Islamic extremists from the al Shabaab terrorist group on Aug. 21, area sources said. After members of his community thoroughly combed the area looking for him, at 2 p.m. on Sept. 2 one of them found Kamil’s body dumped on a street.
The kidnapping and subsequent manner of murder suggests that al Shabaab militants had been monitoring him, Christian leaders said. Muslim extremists from al Shabaab, a militant group with ties to al Qaeda, have vowed to rid Somalia of Christianity, and they control the area some 400 kilometers from Mogadishu.
A Christian who saw Kamil’s body said it bore the marks of an al Shabaab killing, according to a leader in Somalia’s underground church who lives in another city.
“It is usual for the al Shabaab to decapitate those they suspect to have embraced the Christian faith, or sympathizers of western ideals,” the leader said. “Our brother accepted the Christian faith three years ago and was determined in his faith in God. We greatly miss him.”

At least 50 people have died in an earthquake that hit large swathes of Nepal and north-eastern India.
The 6.9-magnitude quake damaged buildings and sent residents in the Nepalese capital Kathmandu running into the streets.
It struck at 6.10pm local time yesterday and was felt also across northern and eastern India and in the capital New Delhi.

In Nepal the government said seven people had died and more than 70 were hurt. Among the victims were two men and an eight-year-old girl, who were killed when a brick wall toppled outside the British Embassy in Kathmandu.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Two moderate earthquakes have struck off Alaska's Aleutian Islands but there were no immediate reports of any damage.

The U.S. Geological Survey says a 5.8-magnitude temblor struck at 11:14 p.m. Sunday and was centered near some remote islands about 1,000 miles west of Anchorage.

The USGS says a 5.4 quake hit about an hour earlier in the same general location.

Quake monitoring agencies say no tsunamis are expected and there are no reports of the quake causing damage.

The issue of Tongues have been going on for many, many years now. In fact, all the way back to time the Disciples were in the upper room praying shortly after The Christ (Messiah) was crucified and rose from the dead while hundreds of people watched.
Many Churches throughout history try very hard to avoid Tongues in Scripture. Probably because many just don't understand it.

Simply put it's just your Spirit talking with God Himself all through the Holy Spirit, (The Comforter) through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ himself. (Still don't make sense?) Its an easy way for men and women to talk with God in words that we in our own language cannot describe. Yes, mankind does not have words for everything. Especially when it comes to spiritual things.

The document continues on about what they were going through at this time, Many confused yet still waiting. Finally as the next chapter comes into play something happened. TONGUES?

Today, Many still do there best to poke fun at those who speak in Tongues. Many churches ban this from being in there Churches. While many others believe it of the Devil. I've seen many try to teach all this by jumping around the Bible instead of reading the entire chapters as a whole. I'm not quite sure how anyone can tell what a whole book says by reading a couple of sentences from it. Yet this is the way they teach while many follow.

Several prayer posts with intelligible spellings continued to appear and visitors to Bynum's Facebook page began questioning the text.
Bynum's prayer posts soon caught the attention of the media, with one reporter at a spirituality and faith website speculating that the minister was communicating "in tongues."

On one prayer post, visitor Cindy McCraw commented, expressing her agreement.
"I believe it's tongues (holy spirit). It's called praying in the Spirit," McCraw wrote.
Another visitor to the page expressed disbelief.
"Are you typing tongues? Or are my eyes playing tricks on me," questioned Damita Stargell.

Since the prayer posts have appeared, visitors have been debating whether it was possible for a Christian to write or type in tongues, since the Bible only depicts those inspired by the Holy Spirit speaking in tongues.

“We’re talking Little Brother now, and we're talking Big Brother down the road,” said Michael Ostrolenk, national director of the Liberty Coalition.

Scientific ID

Attempts to track terrorists and illegal immigrants have led to massive new efforts to identify people, using their body’s unique fingerprints, facial characteristics and iris patterns. A program called Real ID would marry this “biometric” information with a person’s driver’s license, making it easier to track.

“It would require all states to conform to national standards for your driver's license," Ostrolenk explained. "So it basically creates a national identity card.”

For the very first time, I see a statement here in this article that says it like it is. At the bottom of the article here, you will notice what is said.

Is Islam a Religion?

Fact of the matter is NO. Religion was never set up as a place to Worship. It there so that we practice Religion anywhere and everywhere. Somehow law makers have taken this and twisted it so that it is only means in buildings.
As for the fact of Islam. It has nothing to do with what people call religion. It is a book of Laws. Most of those laws do not even co-exist with the very laws of our own land. Not sure if anyone has noticed this. But the instant we see these new Mosques come in. We almost immediately see more court cases how they want to punish others under there own laws. This has and will continue to happen over and over again.

For anyone who has Loved America should know our basic laws. Simple stuff like Do not murder, Rape, Steal, Cheat. Most of it are Basic Morals. On the other hand. The Qur'an is not like this whatsoever. All these are allowed to further the cause of Holy War. Those who choose not to believe this should take the time to read. Mostly, if you plan to make this book your new laws. Because this is exactly what the primary goal is in the Book. To take over the populations and bring in Their laws under the name of Islam.

The sad part is this goes on and on and on throughout the entire book. Notice it really isn't about Worship. It's more of submit to your prayers and do what your told. That's it. If not your and infidel and should be killed or imprisoned. Again don't take my word for it. Read it yourself.
Now what is the Bible? Isn't it the same? No! It has a very Morality laws in it. But for the most part its about Men and Women and tells about their stories with God and Jesus Christ.

MURFREESBORO — A Rutherford County judge decided to uphold his earlier decision that the Islamic Center of Murfreesboro has a right, by law, to build a bigger place of worship.
“Those who are adherents to Islam are entitled to pursue their worship in the United States just as are those who are adherents to more universally established faiths (in our community),” ruled Chancellor Robert Corlew III.
Opponents of the mosque had asked Corlew to reconsider the decision he made in May, which was that the 17 plaintiffs suing Rutherford County government can only challenge whether an open meeting violation occurred over the mosque’s approval.
No trial has been scheduled on whether the county failed to provide sufficient public notice before its Regional Planning Commission met May 24, 2010, to vote on the Islamic center’s plans to construct a 52,960-square-foot community center with a mosque on Veals Road.

Hurricane Irene never hit New York City in the apocalyptic, big-city disaster scenario that Mayor Michael Bloomberg had spelled out late last week, but the storm still managed to leave 5 million homes and businesses without power and at least two dozen dead, according to the Associated Press.
The storm caused some of the worst flooding in a century in Vermont, and also submerged small upstate New York towns that are just now able to take stock of the damage.
This ABC News report, below, shows the frightening flooding in New York and Vermont--including dramatic footage of a covered bridge washing out near Rockingham, Vermont:

A North Carolina road was completely washed out by the storm. You can see flood waters bisecting Highway 12, which connects Hatteras and Ocracoke islands to the mainland, in the video below. The collapse left more than 2,000 people on the island stranded from the North Carolina mainland. Six deaths have been reported in the state, most from falling trees.

The remnants of Irene reached Canada Monday after barreling through the northeastern United States where the storm claimed at least 18 lives and caused estimated economic damage of up to $7 billion.
Millions of people were without power along the East Coast after the huge storm -- now downgraded to a post-tropical cyclone -- passed over the Big Apple and headed for Canada.

The Miami-based National Hurricane Center warned late Sunday of "major river flooding occurring in parts of the northeast," after President Barack Obama cautioned that recovery efforts would last for "weeks or longer."

"I want people to understand that this is not over," Obama said in a short statement in the White House Rose Garden.

"I do want to underscore that the impacts of this storm will be felt for some time... Power may be out for days in some areas."

The governor of Vermont, Peter Shumlin, said his state was in "tough shape" while New York state's Andrew Cuomo warned of "tremendous flooding" in the Catskill Mountain area north of Manhattan.

Egyptians to hold ‘million-man protest’ against peace accord with Israel

Since the terrorist attack there have been raucous demonstrations in front of the Israeli embassy in the neighborhood of Giza that have resulted in a national event and a national hero, who climbed the flagpole in front of the embassy and removed the Israeli flag. Even though there are reports of smaller crowds and consequently smaller amounts of security guards protecting the embassy, the public discourse on the issue remains intense.
Those who organized the demonstration today also relied on a report in the daily Al-Masry Al-Youm, which said that Israel has still not responded to an Egyptian request for a joint investigation, and that National Security Adviser Ya'akov Amidror said that Israel will hold no such joint probe.

Back in 1938, long before satellites, radar, the hurricane hunters, and the modern weather forecasting system, the great New England hurricane of 1938 roared northwards into Long Island, New York at 60 mph, pushing a storm surge more than 15 feet high to the coast. Hundreds of Americans died in this greatest Northeast U.S. hurricane on record, the only Category 3 storm to hit the Northeast since the 1800s. Since 1938, there have been a number of significant hurricanes in the Northeast--the Great Atlantic hurricane of 1944, Hazel of 1954, Diane of 1955, Donna of 1960, Gloria of 1985, Bob of 1991, and Floyd of 1999--but none of these were as formidable as the great 1938 storm. Today, we have a hurricane over the Bahamas--Hurricane Irene--that threatens to be the Northeast's most dangerous storm since the 1938 hurricane. We've all been watching the computer models, which have been steadily moving their forecast tracks for Irene more to the east--first into Florida, then Georgia, then South Carolina, then North Carolina, then offshore of North Carolina--and it seemed that this storm would do what so many many storms have done in the past, brush the Outer Banks of North Carolina, then head out to sea. Irene will not do that. Irene will likely hit Eastern North Carolina, but the storm is going northwards after that, and may deliver an extremely destructive blow to the mid-Atlantic and New England states. I am most concerned about the storm surge danger to North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, and the rest of the New England coast. Irene is capable of inundating portions of the coast under 10 - 15 feet of water, to the highest storm surge depths ever recorded. I strongly recommend that all residents of the mid-Atlantic and New England coast familiarize themselves with their storm surge risk. The best source of that information is the National Hurricane Center's Interactive Storm Surge Risk Map, which allows one to pick a particular Category hurricane and zoom in to see the height above ground level a worst-case storm surge may go. If you prefer static images, use wunderground's Storm Surge Inundation Maps. If these tools indicate you may be at risk, consult your local or state emergency management office to determine if you are in a hurricane evacuation zone. Mass evacuations of low-lying areas along the entire coast of New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia are at least 50% likely to be ordered by Saturday. The threat to the coasts of New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine is less certain, but evacuations may be ordered in those states, as well. Irene is an extremely dangerous storm for an area that has no experience with hurricanes, and I strongly urge you to evacuate from the coast if an evacuation is ordered by local officials. My area of greatest concern is the coast from Ocean City, Maryland, to Atlantic City, New Jersey. It is possible that this stretch of coast will receive a direct hit from a slow-moving Category 2 hurricane hitting during the highest tide of the month, bringing a 10 - 15 foot storm surge.

Irene a Category 3 over the Bahamas, headed northwest
Hurricane Irene tore through the Bahama Islands overnight, bringing hurricane-force winds, torrential rains, and storm surge flooding to Crooked Island, Long Island, Rum Cay, and Cat Island, which all took a terrific pounding. Eleuthera and Abaco Island will receive the full force of Irene's eyewall today, but the eyewall will miss capital of Nassau. Winds there were sustained at 41 mph, gusting to 66 mph so far this morning, and I expect these winds will rise to 50 - 55 mph later today. Wunderblogger MIke Theiss is in Nassau, and will be sending live updates through the day today. Winds on Grand Bahama Island in Freeport will rise above tropical storm force late Thursday morning, and increase to a peak of 45 - 55 mph late Thursday afternoon. Grand Bahama will also miss the brunt of the storm. Irene is visible on Miami long-range radar, and the outer bands of the hurricane are bringing rain to Southeast Florida this morning.

President Barack Obama has warned Hurricane Irene, currently looming off the east coast of the US, could be a "historic" storm.

Seven states from North Carolina to Connecticut have declared emergencies ahead of Irene's arrival.
Mandatory evacuations have been ordered in parts of four states.
The storm has weakened slightly to category two, with winds up to 105mph (169km/h), a strength at which it is expected to make landfall.
Irene, which has already caused havoc in the Caribbean, is expected to hit the coast of North Carolina on Saturday before barrelling northwards to Washington and New York City a day later.
'Don't delay' At 11:00 EDT on Friday (15:00 GMT), the storm was 330 miles south-south-west of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, the US National Hurricane Center said.
Mr Obama, on holiday in Martha's vineyard, an island on the Massachusetts coast, said in a statement to reporters: "All indications point to this being a historic hurricane."

The White House later said Mr Obama was returning early from his break to Washington to lead the government's response to the storm.
Irene, the first hurricane of the Atlantic season, could affect up to 65 million people in major cities along the east coast from Washington to Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York and Boston - the most densely populated corridor in America.
"We're going to have damages, we just don't know how bad," Craig Fugate, head of the US Federal Emergency Management Agency, told the Associated Press news agency.
"This is one of the largest populations that will be impacted by one storm at one time."

A radical Islamist mob, known as Salafists, storm into Virgin Mary Church in Cairo, Egypt before setting the building on fire. The video captures the mob breaking windows and destroying furniture. Notice that one person is clearly holding a pistol before heading upstairs where Coptic Christians are hiding. At least 12 people were killed and more than 200 were wounded in the May 7th attack.

Aug. 18 - Inflatable aircrafts have been around since the Montgolfier brothers developed the first untethered hot-air balloon in 1782, but 200 years later, they are making a high-tech resurgence for both civilian and military use. U.S. aerospace company Lockheed Martin's version is called the P-791 airship, which it hopes is about to take off. Rob Muir reports. ( Transcript )
