Hey peeps,

I visited msnbc.com and I found that the use of both pitures & videos helped to bring the message of the particular incidents across. The story I views was entitled "Protest force Olympic torch dimming." The video captured of the scene when one protestor attempted to extinguish the Olympic flams as it made its way through Paris, France. I found it effective because it provided on on the spot action as the protest action continue.

The other story that I found captivating was called "Robber hypnotizes store clerks" A multimedia report which highlights the plot of a man who hypnotizes the clerks at supermarkets before he robs them. It was interesting to see how the robber worked, trying to get his victims under his "powers".

And finally the 3rd report was called "Albino gator becomes media hit", a story about an unusual aligator who is on tour with a reptile show in the US, and has generated alot of media attention, since he, called White Diamond, is believed to be the only albino aligator in the world. I have never seen a white gator much less for an albino gator, and to hear about the attention he is getting is remarkable.

Effort to revive West Indies cricket

Hey guys, I know I've been missing in action for a while, but I was in Trinidad last week.
22 Sports jounalists from 6 Caribbean Islands met in Trinidad for a 2 day symposium entitled "Rebuilding West Indies Cricket Glory". The symposium was used as a forum in which various Windies stakeholders met and sicussed ideas they think will best help with the revitalization of West Indies cricket.

The event is the sixth in the Thinking Sport series hosted by The Sports Desk, and was held on March 26th and 27th, and several former West Indies legends were among the facilitators, including president of the T&T Cricket Board, Deryck Murray, former West Indies opening batsmen Desmond Haynes and Bryan Davis, former West Indies fastbowlers Colin Croft and Tony Gray, president of the Players Association Dinanath Ramnarine and former West Indies youth captain Colin Murray.

Following the symposium, Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs Gary Hunt is expected to present a report to the West Indies Cricket Board to assist in the rebuilding of the game here in the region. In acknowledging his Ministry's support for the event, Minister Hunt noted that West Indies Cricket, so long a unifying force in the Caribbean, was in grave danger, having plunged from its lofty heights in the 80's into its current quagmire, leaving frustrated regional supporters searching for answers.

He said he was hopeful that the symposium will find out what went wrong and come up with solutions to address the problems.

Caribbean Nationals go for fourth World Record

St. Vincent legends, Earl ‘Ole George’ Daniel and Joel Butcher plan to set a new record in the Guinness Book of Records for the most days walked without sleep.

They have broken the record three times before, in 2005, walking six days with no sleep, 2006 when they walked seven days with no sleep and 2007, seven days and 1 hour.

On July 19th, the pair will attempt to walk for eight days without sleep, leaving New York, USA and hope to arrive in Toronto Canada on or around July 27th.

Mr. Daniel says one of the reasons they are attempting the walk is to raise funds for children who need medical attention, but what is ironic is that in an effort to save the children, they are putting their lives on the line, since physically, human should not attempt an activity like this.

The record breaking duo says an important part of what they do is mental preparation, as well as physical training, which includes gym exercises, jogging, and eating the right foods such as fruits, vegetables.

As part of their preparation for the record breaking event, the pair will hold preliminary walks on various Caribbean island, the first of which will be in Grenada, and others in St. Vincent, Canouan and Mustique.

Earl ‘Ole George’ Daniel and Joel Butcher says they will be walking continuously, only stopping for very brief periods to change their shoes.

I was going through some web headlines to day and I found some interesting ones and some that don't work for me, meaning they didn't grab my attention.

5 that worked for me:
1. CARIFTA athletes converge on St. Kitts (caribbeannetnews.com) - That got my attention cause I am very interested in how my country, Grenada will do at the games. We have a BLAZING young man who we all look for to come back with a few medals and even the break records like he did back home.
2. One year on, Inzamam remembers Woolmer tradegy (caribbeannetnews.com) - It grabbed me cause I had forgotten about the CWC 2007 death of Mr. Woolmer and that headline just reminded about a sad situation that impacted alot of lives last World Cup.
3. Health authorities denies claim of TB outbreak in Grenadian prison (grenadianconnection.com) - Reports of Tuberculosis at the prison in Grenada surfaced last year, but was quashed after government and health officials said there was none, and to see talks have once again come up is very interesting for me.
4. Son of the Caribbean poised to become next NY governor (grenadianconnection.com) - It grabbed me because I was just interested to see who it was and which country he was from.
5. SAASS students celebrates Intercol win with a victory lap around Grenville (grenadianconnection.com) - Knowing how hard the local high school worked for that athletic victory it was nice to read about how they celebrated regaining a title they lost 3 years ago.

5 that didn't work for me:
1. Media updates from the RGPF (grenadianconnection.com) - It just goes to show how many times we as journalists don't take the time to get behind the scenes information, and we just run with news releases from organizations.
2. CARICOM leaders end meeting (grenadianconnection.com) - And???? It's too plain, doesn't tell me anything as to what meeting, where it was, what it was about, the most important thing coming from the meeting. It didn't grab me.
3. Government promises fiscal prudence as estimates laid (cananews.com) - It's confusing to me, and it took me a while to understand what was meant. A headline should grab u as soon as you lay your eyes on it not take you some time to figure out what the story is about.
4.T&T's team manager confident (cananews.com) - about what? It doesn't tell me anything.
5. Madeleine's parents accept apology (yahoonews.com) - Who is Madeleine, who apologized and for what. Again it doesn't tell me anything.

I have visited other blogs in my quest to get better aquainted with how th whole blogging world works.

One was called "mikebas.blogspot.com", owned by the President of the Media Workers Association of Grenada, Michael Bascombe. It has lots of interesting stuff on it including news articles. I have read a few of the stories, some of which I know about. I almost got caught up enough to forget what I was doing.

Another was called "Grenadafocus.blogspot.com" by a co worker of mine called Kern Mason. U know anything that promotes my beautiful country is always of interest to me. Sweet Grenada is always a hot topic in my view and anything about the Isle of Spice will grab my attention.

And finally, a blog about my favorite boy band of all time, Boyz II Men. They are the best thing that ever happened to music in this century and nobody, boy or girl group can come close to producing the kind of music these 4 (now 3) guys have done.

Hey people, it's me the one and only. I signed up for an RSS Reader today using feedbruner.com. I used that site because I found it was the easiest to undestand.

I used google search engine , and of all the sites that popped up, I found feedburner to be the most understandable. I visited most of the sites that the search came up with and feedburner provided the neccesary information that I found easier to follow. I had fun discovering how to do things I didn't know before.

Don't be afraid to try setting up an RSS Reader, it's information u may need sometime in the future.
