I just placed some art in my online store. I am really bad about keeping product in my stores. I try to get to commissions, first, then I keep art updated in my brick-and-mortar locations (listed here), and THEN I place new things in my online store. I'm not sure how other artists juggle their retail options. Would love to hear from you, if you are an artist and have a "system" that works for you!

My summer is slowing down a little (fingers crossed) and I am hoping to get new items painted, daily. In the past 3 weeks I've been to New York, Washington DC, Blowing Rock NC, Orlando FL, and Madison GA. All in 3 weeks. All three of my grown kids are now traveling around in Europe and my husband is busy with his work, so I am can devote a little more time to my art. Time flies by, doesn't it?

Hello, World! and Calendars

I blog so rarely, anymore, I may just be typing this for ME to read! I might need to reintroduce myself if I can ever get any readers back-lol! I met so many nice people through blogging, yet I am not a particularly verbose (is that the word?) person, so it isn't always easy for me to put my thoughts into words. I honestly think Instagram led to my blogging slow-down. The more I used IG, the less I blogged. Once I started insta-gramming, it was just easier to share my day and art with a quick pic and a tiny blurb on IG. Times certainly do change, don't they?

I've been painting a lot of Christmas art this past month. I prefer to paint seasonally, as the mood hits me, but that is not possible with the Christmas season. So, I begrudgingly started painting Christmas pieces and ornaments in October this year. As I type this, it is still November and I love autumn, so I have not decorated my house for Christmas, yet. Most years I wait until after December 1st, simply because Fall is my favorite season. It will be Christmas in my house NEXT week, once December starts.

My husband and I decided to go out of town on the spur of the moment. I brought my paint supplies, but completely forgot that I needed to post what I have been painting on Leslie Saeta's 30 in 30 Challenge! (Don't worry, I recently bought a book on preventing Alzheimer's. I guess I should read it? No joke - I have that book, but have not yet opened it.)

Early Vacay this Year

As my adult kids get older, it is harder to plan a vacation where all five of us can be present. This year our summer beach vacation occurred in early May! I can only imagine how difficult scheduling will be with spouses and grandchildren included!

We originally planned to go to Sanibel Island (where my husband grew up), but red tide has been a problem there this Spring and we did not want to worry about our daughter who has asthma (red tide is hard on people with breathing problems). So, we went to another favorite beach: Amelia Island (town of Fernandina Beach). (And let me just add: my life is not all vacations, fun times, rainbows, and unicorns, however, this past week was wonderful! Now, I am back to work and returning to the "normal" life.)

The nice thing about May beach travel is the discounted rates for lodging!

This was the view from our family room/kitchen area.

We simply could not get enough of the colors and natural beauty of this view.

When we visit Fernandina Beach, we like to take the boat over to Cumberland Island for a few hours.

We did not rent bikes this time.

This visit we saw lots of wild horses, a turkey, and a raccoon.

We also tried fishing for about an hour. No luck.)

If you are visiting Amelia Island/Fernandina Beach, let me suggest some of our favorite restaurants:

Timoti's Seafood Shack (great quality and prices - very casual- blackened fish taco is my fave),

Amelia Tavern (my 18 yo son's "best burger in 2018"),

Cafe Karibo (crab cakes!), and

The Salty Pelican (sunset view if you wait for a table on the upper deck).

I hope your May is going well and I sincerely hope you get to take a vacation this summer!

Wedding Gift - Original Painting of Wedding Venue

One friend of mine received five butter dishes as wedding gifts. I married the next year and did not receive a single one! Wedding gifts vary, that is for sure. One idea that I think plenty of newlyweds would enjoy is a painting of the church where they were married! Most of you know I love a pretty church and have been painting them for a while. Here is the latest one I painted.

I used a photo of the church where this couple was married. We attended this wedding for a cousin and his new bride in Savannah back in February (note that February is the PERFECT time to visit Savannah!).

Here are some more churches that I captured this past year.

If you are in need of a wedding gift, and are pretty sure the couple needs a butter dish, then by all means go ahead and get them one! If you want a painting of the church where they married or maybe their first home, please visit my online store to order one!

I had a wonderful time at the Wesleyan Artist Market in Norcross! I love to see kids appreciate art. I snapped this photo of a 7th grader taking a picture of my sheep..

It was a successful show and I always love meeting some of my collectors and followers! So cool to put a face and personality with a name! I am a complete introvert. I am content to spend days and days by myself and not interact much with others. That being said, the introverted me actually ENJOYS art shows. Crazy-- I know. I enjoy meeting buyers and browsers and also the other artists. I learn so much at each show from my fellow artists.

Sharing your work with the world at a show can be a bit scary, at first, especially for an introvert. However, I just have to remember that not everyone is going to like my style of art. As long as I enjoy creating it and sharing it, then I can overlook those who don't like my pieces. Realizing that I personally like my own art and enjoy creating it, makes "putting myself out there" a little easier.

Here are a few of the pieces I said "good bye" to this past weekend.

Quilt Series

Am I the only one who has a nostalgic, calm, pleasant feeling when I see a stack of quilts? Pretty quilts make me want to learn how to actually quilt. But, I do not have time for that! So, I just create paintings of quilts, instead!

Here is a new Quilt Series I just listed in my store (Art By Trish Jones.com).

If I close my eyes, I can smell fresh laundry detergent and the soft fabric!
