Orange Kloof tented camp is a place that’s a bit of a surprise in 'beachy' Hout Bay. Here we’re talking forest. A rare Afromontane forest surrounds the beautiful camp, which is located just down the road from Constantia Nek going towards Hout Bay. Opened in 2007, Orange Kloof offers comfortable facilities so close to Cape Town – ideal as a getaway for families, nature lovers, hikers or for team building."

Accommodation
This self-catering camp simply calls for endless braais –prep in the fully equipped communal kitchen. The camp is designed in a style that won‘t go out of fashion and sleeps a maximum of 12 persons. On offer are a four-sleeper family tent and four two-sleeper tents, all complete with single beds, mattresses and sheets, as well as electric lighting. Guests make use of two communal ablution blocks within the camp, with hot and cold running water in the shower units.

Rates
It costs R440 per tent per night with an additional charge of R220 per adult and R110 per child if they are going to share the tent as well. SANParks offers a 20% discount off accommodation in its Cape Town region parks in May, June and July.

Marnus Steyl was granted R100 000 bail on Tuesday ahead of the trial in June, according to the report.

Thai nationals Punpitak Chunchom and Chumlong Lemthongthai were ordered to remain in custody in separate prisons.

Steyl's farm was allegedly used by a syndicate to hunt rhinos, with Thai prostitutes and strippers posing as bogus rhino hunters."

Angry shark researcher Ryan Johnson of Oceans Research, based in Mossel Bay, said concerned members of the public had alerted him. While fellow researcher Enrico Gennari, director of Oceans Initiative, phoned law enforcement, Johnson rushed to the beach.

The shark had been pulled – apparently by the gills – about five metres on to the rocks and the man and his two sons were posing with it, holding the tail. Its blood had pooled in a hollow in the rocks.

“I ran up and shouted that this was a protected species and what he had done was illegal,” Johnson said.

“I used some choice words to tell him to move away. I was pretty emotional because this happens frequently. He said: ‘So what if it’s illegal? Everyone does illegal things all the time, so what’s the problem?’”

With the help of another man, Johnson got the shark back into the sea, pulling it each time a wave washed on to the rocks. Once in the water, it swam straight into the rocks, and then moved out of sight. Johnson says he is unable to say whether it will survive.

Poachers have killed 287 rhinos in South Africa this year, including 16 critically endangered black rhinos, the World Wildlife Fund reported Wednesday.

South Africa is home to the majority of the world's rhinos, and the 271 African white rhinos killed there this year represent 1.3% of the entire population of the animals, the conservation group said.

The rhinos are killed for their horns, which are used in traditional medicine in Asia, including a misplaced belief they can cure cancer, according to the group.

"Demand for rhino horn and elephant ivory is threatening to destroy a large part of Africa’s natural heritage. We want to see illegal markets for these products in Asia shut down for good,” Morné du Plessis, CEO of WWF-South Africa, said in a statement on the eve of World Rhino Day on Thursday.

Officials from Vietnam and China, where rhino horns are in demand, will travel to South Africa this month to discuss how to cooperate on poaching investigations, the fund said.

South Africa has arrested more than 165 people in connection with rhino poaching this year, sending some of those convicted to prison for up to 12 years, according to the group. Eleven more poaching suspects are scheduled to go on trial in a South African court next week. They include veterinarians, safari operators and a pilot.

"South African authorities are taking rhino poaching very seriously and are beginning to dismantle the sophisticated criminal gangs that are behind the killings,” Joseph Okori, the fund’s African rhino program manager, said in a statement.

The wildlife group estimates there are 28,038 rhinos left in the world – 20,000 African white rhinos, 4,838 African black rhinos and 3,200 Asian rhinos.

Quite a few people here have mentioned how G+ is doing little for them, they have only a few people circling them and little responses to what they post.

One thing I have found is that with G+ there is a huge difference with this and other social sites. There is a lot of "ownership" here and we take responsibility for what we post, who we post to and how we interact. We are not at the mercy of the people that run the site.

But you have to put the work in to get the benefit out.

As a photographer I am fortunate enough to have a good level of exposure here, something we need but it didnt just happen.

So what can you do to make G+ work for you?

You have 150 invites, use as many as you can, go out to your friends, family and extended people that you know and invite them to G+ and encourage them to both come here and get involved. If you invite 150 people, then they invite yet another 150 and if say 20% of all these people circle you through a common link you can see how the numbers will rack up.

I recall +Thomas Hawk saying use the +1 button, he is right, hit the public stream, go look at posts and if you like what you see, read etc then use the +1, people will begin to see you and it takes very little to do.

Interact, speak to people, get out of your comfort zone and go respond to posts you would normally not respond to, you will be surprised at times who you get to interact this way. You will also be surprised at the level of interaction you get back.

Share, if you like something share it, get it out to a wider audience and you will find others will reciprocate the goodwill you have given.

Circles, use them, organise them, add people, you have to have a wide and varied amount of people inyour circles and you have to try and interact with them. My profile only shows around 800+ people in my circles, theses are the "Behind The Lens Photo Critique" members from +Colby Brown initiative, I have a lot more that you don't see.

Go public. So many members restrict what they post, not an issue when you want it that way but if you are looking for exposure for say photography then by restricting your audience you stifle your work. Some do this without realising, when you share something makes sure the public tab is visible. I have come across works that I want to share to a wider audience but when I hit the share button I get a warning to say it has been shared with a limited audience. I cannot then share it out to a wider audience and that's a shame.

The amount of work you put into G+ at the beginning will pay you back tenfold eventually.
