Spoiler free summary:

This book is about a woman who works for a pharmaceutical company. After receiving little information about the death of a coworker who was sent to the amazon to get a status update on a drug discovery project, she's told by her boss/lover to go there and find out what happened.

Her journey into the jungle leads her to amazing discoveries not just about the death of her friend but also the drug discovery project, the locals, and the amazon as a whole.

The book is very sciencey and well written. It's so descriptive and really sucked me in. The ending however, didn't bring full closure to everything. Maybe the author wanted to leave the option for a sequel. If that's the case, I certainly look forward to reading it.

Book Review-To Heaven and Back

This book was amazing. It's about a woman who has a near death experience and recounts her story. It was a fast and very interesting read.

I believe in God heaven and an afterlife so I find these kinda of books to be intriguing and believable.

I would recommend this book if you're open minded to the idea of heaven, angels, and some Jesus talk.

Glossybox August 2013

Let me start by saying, I have a love-hate relationship with Glossybox. The products they include and the packaging is amazing, but their customer service certainly has a vast opportunity for improvement. Last month, I was completely fed up when my box was "accidentally" shipped to some random state far, far away.

After numerous failed attempts to try and get a hold of customer service, I decided to cancel my subscription. I e-mailed them to let them know my box is homeless in some rando post office God knows where :(

Three or FOUR days later, someone e-mailed me back apologizing and saying another box will ship. Then a few days later it came!! Seeing the box reminded me how much I love receiving them. I forgive you Glossybox, but for the love of God get your ish together.

Without further rambling, this is what came in my box!!

A cute Guess/Glossybox makeup pouch!! I think this was just an added bonus because it wasn't placed inside the actual box.

A completely useless coupon since I ended up getting the box ON September 11.

I'm not a lipstick gal but this is more like a gloss with a little color. I love it and would wear it. Maybe in the summer or if I go on vacation somewhere warm though.

Dual eyeshadow. Swatches below. Very nice. I would definitely wear these.

That's all. The overall sentiment is good product selection, but bad customer service.

Fall Makeup 2013

I went to the Mac store in search of fall makeup. I wanted matte warm tones.

Unfortunately the collection above was too dark according to the Mac makeup artist. He suggested the items below for my skin tone and I left pretty pleased.

This is the blush. Please excuse my naked nails!

It's a gorgeous matte warm color. Exactly what I was looking for.

In Desert rose. I wanted a matching lipglAss so he suggested this

It's actually a cremesheen glass. I really like the formula because it gives a nice gloss and hint of color without being sticky or overpowering. It's in the color deelight.

These are the fall makeup colors I picked up which work for me. Everyone's skin and color is different so when looking for new goodies find a store with helpful makeup artists who will make suggestions without being pushy.

As back to school ads flood the hallways of malls, commercials and billboards and with Labor Day just around the corner. We realize its time to pack away those flip flops and gear up for FALL!!!

Fall happens to be my favorite season. The aroma of sharpened pencils, pumpkin spice, and the cooling of temperature lure my senses into nostalgia of Fall seasons gone by. Filled with new school supplies, cozy movie nights, boots and dark nail polish !!!

This is a good transition into-fall color. Its subtle, classy and timeless

Smells like cozy vanilla ice cream and cup cakes. Its very strong too and the scent lingers long after you blow it out which I love.

They also have a different theme each month, which is fun, and for July its Summer Nights.

What it Looks like:

Double the Fun! This month, I received two boxes (long story), not complaining :)

The box is pretty, pink, re-usable and stackable

I really can't describe the excitement I feel when I see this! The suspense and promise of goodies inside is quite gratifying :)

This foot cream oil imported exclusively from Germany provides intensive protection and nourishes skin, leaving it soft and supple.

Well Grüß dich Germany! Very intense refreshing peppermint scent! Since its an oil, I intend to use it before I go to bed or maybe rub it on my feet and wear a sock for maximum absorption, by my foot hopefully, and not the sock. I'm embarrassed to admit this, but I wish it came with directions. Very excited to use nonetheless. My feet need more care in the summer because I'm either in sandals, flip flops or bare foot.

2&3-SEBASTIAN-Color ignite Multi Tone Shampoo and Conditioner. Price of Full Size $14.94/8.4 oz for the Shampoo and $16.95/6.6 oz for the Conditioner

The Shampoo claims to be a smart color moisture complex that targets your color-treated strands, to deeply moisturize and restructure hair fibers wherever needed most.

The Conditioner claims to be a micro-bubble conditioner which whips, wraps and wows your strands leaving your hair with long-lasting color and vibrant shine.

I tried these and the lather on the shampoo is heavenly. The claims they make regarding its color mooisture hoopla is irrelevant to me. I love the smell and the later. Left my hair feeling clean light and fresh.
As for the conditioner, its not bubbly. More like a moose. It smells like nothing with a hint or aerosol. Did feel smooth, I guess. Didn't love the conditioner. Its a little strange because its not creamy so I felt like I needed more and more product. Its also meant to target light color-treated hair. My hair is jet black. I will certainly use it up, but don't think I would re-purchase.

4-FIGS & ROUGE-LIP, FACE & BODY BALM $6.00/0.26 oz

The gorgeous tin is filled with a 100% pure and natural skin balm, a multi-use wonder product that will keep your skin feeling soft and beautiful throughout the day.

Honestly, this tin could have been empty for all I cared and I would have absolutely fell in love with it. It might possibly be the cutest packaging ever. I love having it in my makeup bag and whipping it out throughout the day to moisturize my pout. The rose scent was a little different at first, but it grew on me. Its very nice. A little bit goes a long way, so use with caution. I'm not sure I am brave enough to use in on my face, or body. I think I want to just enjoy it as a lip balm. Would definitely re-purchase and gladly explore more scents and delicious flavors. Great discovery!

5-SENNA COSMETICS-Mineral Eye Shadow Trio. $24.00/0.14oz

This silky pressed mineral eye shadow trip in metallic or matte colors claims to give you a hypnotic yet polished finished with amazing dimension.

The card says:Blushed features notes of bright red currant and rich vanilla, wrapped around subtle sweet lemon, slightly spicy ginger, and kissed with a hint of sugar. Take, tuck or share this fragranced towelette. It's scent will make you blush.

What a cute and fun idea! Its a scented towelette. This would be great to tuck away in a closet or a weekend bag/luggage to keep your clothes smelling great! It was neat trying this before reading the card because I wasn't expecting a towelette. It's like a baby wipe for divas! Excited to try more scents.

Favorite item in the box

This Figs and Rouge balm has become a staple item in my makeup bag. Makes my work days more joyous and rosy :)

Splat Jet Black's unique reconstructive base claims to actually leave your hair looking healthier, shinier and in better condition. It is a one step color process, you simply pour the pouch into the bottle, shake, and apply all over your hair. The formula is bleach free, amonia free and vegan. It is enhanced with soy protein and infused with aloe vera.

My Thoughts:-

What made me reach for this brand is that it is made by a cruelty-free company. They do not use animal products, nor do they test on animals. The results are comparable to any other at home hair dye kit I've used. The color is very dark and it really did make my hair look shinier and healthier. I will certainly re-purchase and would highlight recommend.

One thing to note is that this kit does not come with a deep conditioner like other dye kits usually do. Maybe that's not needed because the formula is bleach free and infused with aloe-vera and contains soy protein.

I like me a wand with some serious curve action!

How did they know I needed a mascara?! I legit had mine for about over eight months now. I heard you're supposed to switch them out every three-to four months (please correct me if I'm wrong). I should really follow this rule considering my eyes are super dry, sensitive AND I wear lenses. So Glossybox, my eyes thank you for saving them from the abuse and overuse of my old mascara.

2-FIRST AID BEAUTY-Smooth Shave Cream. Price of Full Size $16.50/6.8 oz

Smooth Shave Cream claims to be a gentle non-irritating formula containing everything you need to obtain a close, long-Lasting shave.

I tried this already and its fabulous. The consistency is thick and creamy, almost like a lotion. Its unscented which is not up my alley, but the rewards of being silky smooth certainly out way the scent-free aspect. I will certainly be using and enjoying this 'till the last creamy drop!

3-Kinerase Restructure Firming Cream Price of Full Size $98.00/1.7 oz

Claims to erase the years from your face with elastin-strengthening technology that visibly transforms and contours your skin.

I'm in my late twenties. Dabbling in anti-wrinkle creams and trying products out is probably a good idea so I am well repaired. I should also start preparing a savings account if my face-cream is going to cost $98.00!

2-SHEA TERRA ORGANICS-Ultimate Moisturizing Body Creme Price of Full Size $18.00/9oz

This moisturizing cream for the whole body is made with 30% organic shea butter, so it claims to leave your skim smooth and soft.

in Lavender

This product is 99.7% Natural! I liked how they noted that, so close but not quite a 100%! The packaging says "No hype. Just a LOT of the good stuff." I really couldn't agree more. Its probably the best body butter I remember using and I definitely plan on repurchasing. I think the price is reasonable for the quality of this product.

5-WELLA PROFESSIONALS-Enrich Moisturizing Treatment

The card says "Create free flowing hair with this lightweight treatment containing silk extract that instantly restores your mane."

The Formula does feel light and it smells like clean shampoo. I am looking forward to using this up. My hair can always use some TLC, despite the fact that its not fine or normal :p

*-A Special surprise treat for me!: Urban Organic perfume sample. Price of full size is $65.00/0.41oz

The card says: Take a walk in the park with this delicious daytime fragrance. Urban Organic from a PERFUME ORGANIC. This combination of lavender and grapefruit makes for a fresh and citric scent.

This perfume is very pungent. It smells like an expensive day spa oil they use to rub you down. I dabbed it on at night after taking a bath because I find the scent of lavender to be relaxing. I prefer lighter scents so although this is lovely, its not really my taste. I will use up the sample but would not purchase the full size.

I am really excited about this because I was in the market for a new one and this is perfect for me! its black, smudge proof, has a curved wand. itt costs $20.00 on its own which is almost the cost of the entire box!

What it claims to do:

Those with dry skin will benefit from the clay's nourishing and hydrating properties, which naturally restore skin's moisture.

My thoughts:

I've been searching for an everyday blush that is pigmented, lasts long and can be worn during the day, but still have a tad bit of shimmer. This was mentioned by TiffanyD so when I saw it, I thought i'd give it a try. I really like that it is pigmented and shows on my skin, but its overpowering or clown like. It does last longer than other blushes I've used but I wouldn't agree that it lasts 12 hours, maybe six. In an air-conditioned environment.

One thing to note is when I first purchased it, it appeared overly glittery which isn't how it was at the store. When I started using it however, it became more subtle. Another cool thing is that the compact part where the blush sits actually swirls. Not sure what the purpose of that is, but it is interesting.

Would I recommend:

I would. Unlike my Beneift Bella Bamba, its more appropriate for wear during the day. Its not too shimmery and its just the right amount of color against my face, which is on the tan side. I have been wearing it everyday since I purchased it. One thing I don't like though is that its hard to apply with my fingers because the container swirls. It's odd, you have to check it out to understand. Maybe that is a good thing because I shouldn't be applying blush with my fingers ; p ... I need to get some makeup brushes and apply this bad boy like a pro!

Hi Beauties! So, I'm one of those girls that is addicted to Acrylic Nails. I tried gel nails, no nails, stick on nails, glass fiber weird nails, but I always inevitably come back to Acrylic Nails.

Usually I stick to the good old French Manicure. I like them SHORT and I like the base to be pinkish, so I ask the salon lady to use a base coat with a pink tint. Orly Beverly Hills Manicure in Plum is my current favorite (2 coats). I actually asked them to use this as a base in this design too. It just makes my nails look better because acrylics tend to look whiter than natural nails so this base kind of balances out that whiteness from the acrylic leaving a more natural look!

My Thoughts

My hair is thick coarse and not straight or curly. I use a CHI iron to straighten it after blow drying but when its super hot or humid outside, I need an extra little somethin' somethin' to keep the frizzies at bay and keep my locks looking lovely.

This product did work for my hair. I sprayed it on wet hair and used a generous amount. I do my hair at night and when its super hot, it curls up a little by the time I wake up. After using this however my hair stays more straight the next day. I also noticed that after a sweaty workout, it stays straight as well. It did NOT weigh down my hair or leave it looking greasy, just shiny straight and fabulous!!!!

Would I recommend it/repurchase?!

YES!! I will be repurchasing this product during the summer and for humid rainy days. They have a good sample size at Target that you can purchase (1 Fl oZ). I would recommend purchasing that first before buying the full size because everyone's hair type and texture is different. You won't really know how well it is, unless you try it on your hair. Hope this helps!!

Most Effective Deodorant I've Ever Used-Secret Va Va Vanilla

It might look like the regular Secret Deodorant but its NOT! I'm not sure what magical ingredient they added to this bad boy but its works like no ordinary deodorant! As someone who sweats, A LOT, I can say without exaggeration that this is the best thing that I've discovered in a long time!

Check it out! its smells like vanilla, so that can be the only negative thing for those who aren't fond of that scent. However, vanilla is better than funk..ya know?

Not sure if they come in different scents or if the other ones are as effective. My search for the most effective deodorant is complete :) !!!!!!!!!!

My opinion:

I'm a sucker for packaging, so Aveno is not a brand I usually reach for. I was sent this product by influenster to try and have been using it since. Its amazing because it eliminates the need for shaving cream or a moisturizer! It smells like sweet oatmeal which is soothing. I highly recommend this and will continue to re-purchase.

Polka Dot Toe Nail Tutorial in 3 Simple Steps

"My toe nails serve as a canvas for my amateur artistic creativity" -LA

You can achieve this look on your nails/toes in three simple steps and switch up the colors to your liking!!

Step 1-Paint big toe white. I Used Ulta in snow white.
Step 2-Paint the rest of your toes/nails red. I used wet n' wiled in Everybody Loves Redmond (target).
Step 3-When the white is completely dry, take a toothpick or dotting tool and polka dot away. I used Sinful colors in Black on Black.

Caviar Stick Eye Colour in SMOKE is hands down my favorite Eye Liner of ALL times!!!

It compares to the Urban Decay 24/7 eye liner but I like that this one better because its thicker & mechanical. Lasts all day, does not smudge, budge or smear. It's also very black and I just love it! will be repurchasing it forever. You can get your own here !

The website says its for your lid but I've been using it on my waterline for months and its simply amazing. Does not irritate my eyes which are extremely dry & sensitive. Even though its "pricy" its well worth it in my opinion because you don't waste half the product trying to sharpen it. The color is also so pigmented that you just need one swipe and your good to go. I've been using mine for more than three months and still have a lot of product left. I use it every SINGLE day!

Lately, I've been LOVING stud earrings. Target has become my go to place recently. I've started entertaining the idea of checking out their jewels when I moved to the middle of no where, PA and "trendy" stores are not really trending. I also don't like shopping online because I like to feel my studs, play around with them, & check out their size before purchasing :)

Target always has cute very affordable on trend jewelry & scarfs! As for the quality, I've noticed it's better than Forever 21 (the disposable store), H&M (the fit skinny minis only store), or other "trendy" less costly places.

I definitely recommend checking them out. I bought the ones shown in the pictures below recently so they should still be available in stores.

Currently wearing the cupcake bling ones and they're just so flipping adorable!!!

My Thoughts

I don't love Blueberries. Aside from that I thought the bar was very filling and tasted "natural". My mom tasted it as well and said it was "not bad". Almost tastes like a fruit cake but not as sweet and a little more dry. Its not SOO delicious, that you'll want to eat ten bars. It is however filling and enough to satisfy a sweet tooth or serve as a healthy in between meal snack.

Strawberry, Mango Coconut, and Pineapple are on my grocery list but I could NOT find them in my local store. I will have to continue looking. I hope they aren't too hard to find because I don't think I love them enough to buy them online.
