Hello readers,
Hope you all doing fine..and busy engaged in your creative works.

Just to say that I couldn't read your blogs because of my health condition..
I was diagnised with breast carcinoma.
so surgery was done and am doing well with little inconvenience. waiting for the reports for the further treatment.
Wish the whole treatment completes in the earliest time and hope I would be back to my embroidery world very soon.

New Kutch work saree: Dilemna again

More votes from my readers are for light gold and I am also quite happy with it. Earlier I planned for big peacocks, 2 or 3 for pleats and 3 for pallu. But while transferring the design I went wrong and the design misprinted on the saree . So I stopped to transfer the remaining peacock designs and just did transfer the design for border . And also I thought to add chemanthi work in between the kutch works in the border if I fail to manage to stitch on peacocks. So for the saree buttas I chose a design, so that I can add chemanthi and kutch in one design. (Sorry I forgot to take the picture of that design.)
Now the dilemna is which 2 or more colours I need to choose for peacock/chemanthi.
So again I am troubling you to pick the colours. To make your work easy, I am posting pictures of the colours I have..

is this combination is OK!!?

Kutch Work: Saree

Of late I just love to do kutch work. So for my saree project I picked kutch work only :).
The saree is brick red coloured pure silk saree having very light black colour stripes on it,presented by my MIL.
I tried kutch work with different threads but I felt anchor cotton threads suits well for kutch work.
In this project I am stitching with 2 strands of anchor cotton thread.
I tried different colours but thought, off-white looks good. After stitching one motif, it didn't appeal me. So stitched one more motif with dark gold color thread. It looked dull :(
Again I stitched with light gold coloured thread. it is looking OK for me.
What do you feel? Shall I go with light gold colour or any suggestions on colour combination?? I would be glad if you help me again in picking the right colour :).

This is long and short stitch on hankie. I am not at all happy with the outcome(fabric is too thin is the excuse i can put). Need more practice to learn about the colour merging..

Blogging fetch me some real good friends. Sarika Agrawal is one of them who sent me many good designs to embroider. Though I like most of her designs I could not work on them earlier.This time I picked one of her design and started to work on it. Thank you very much Sarika for your generosity. This is my favourite from your creative designs.
To start with embroidery I get ready the design paper to transfer the design on to the fabric. First I pick the holes on the trace paper and transfer the design on to the fabric by chaapa method.

Then selected the threads which matches with the colours on the saree and also which goes well with the colour of the saree blouse.
Though I have many stitches in mind to work with, I am just waiting for stitch of tomorrows stitch challenge by Sharon hoping I can use the stitch in nice way..:)

Here comes one more embroidery on a saree blouse I have used 2 different cone threads of different shades and the stitch is my new found stitch which I don't know the name and blogged about it in my earlier post. I like the stitch because of its lace like look.

I am so happy to get waste canvas all the way from Australia from my blogger friend Gina. It is very valuable for me so thinking to use it in better way. Thanks a lot Gina...

Here comes the complete part of the embroidery on saree blouse.
Saree is having ready border with mirror work.
Design is from one of the books by Nirmala C. Mistry. I just love her designs..
Stitch worked on half circles is the new stitch I found while learning Josephina stitch..is it not lovely!!..I just call the stitch as sadala stitch..

TAST2012: Closed base needlewoven picot

Sharon has given closed base needle woven picot for this week's stitch challenge. I worked this stitch to make fuchsia flowers. For first flower I have used silk thread( four strands). For the second flower I have used cone thread. What I like the most about this stitch is all the thread we use for this stitch comes only on the surface of the fabric thus giving the back of the fabric looks clean except one knot. And the stitch is easy too when worked with cone thread.

Sorry for the different font colour and size. Blogger is acting crazy today. i tried in many ways to fix it but couldn't..:(

Embroidery: Saree blouse

This is half part of my ongoing embroidery work on a saree blouse. In my earlier post I mentioned about a new stitch found while learning josephina knot. I will call the stitch sadala stitch until if anyone know the stitch and already documented somewhere.
In this picture the work on half circles is sadala stitch..I need to practice some more till the stitches correctly spaced. What is your opinion!!

TAST2012 week43 Buttonhole wheel cup Stitch

Since this stitch was given by Sharon for stitch challenge 2011, I was thinking that this stitch suits well for lotus leaves. I had an idea to work on lotus designs, but couldn't do it earlier. Now I tried on one leaf.. Do you agree if the stitch is really suits for a lotus leaf!! Please have a look at Sharon's blog for stitch details.

Josephina Knot and more

In the process of learning the the technique of Josephina knot I find out some other beautiful knots/stitches. I don't know whether someone did this before and documented the stitch and its name. If yes please share them. Aren't they nice??

While browsing the net for some embroidery stuff I stumbled upon this beautiful stitch named Josephina knot in Rachel Wright's blog. But couldn't find any online tutorials for josephina knot. With the help of Rachel's tip, after many trial and errors finally I got the stitch. In the process of learning this stitch I myself find out some other beautiful knots. I will work them again and post them here for sure!! they may suit well for using in Indian embroidery...

Kutch Work

Kutch work always scares me..:)..though I feel I know technique (under over) of kutch work, when it comes to stitching part, I always do some mistake somewhere in the project. So I always put aside the idea of kutch work though I have some beautiful designs in my collections.
This time I picked one simple design of kutch for my salwar. Stitching part- I did fine but while cutting the fabric I made mistake and spoiled the shape(I planned for diamond shape)..so here is the outcome..

Cross Stitch

At last I completed stitching cross stitch on a saree blouse which I started earlier. I am not completely happy with the outcome.
Saree blouse is for super net saree which is having 2 kalamkari peacocks for pallu and black buttis all over the saree. I love those peacocks in the pallu. Are not they beautiful!!??

Cross Stitch

My current project is Cross stitch on a plane saree blouse using Aida cloth.Earlier i did cross stitch on a plane material using matty cloth/aida and it came out well without causing any problem. This time it has become a head ache for me. Saree blouse is stitched and that to with a lining cloth. As far as stitching part is concerned, I didn't have any problem. But removing the threads of matty became difficult.
In the first leaf(red), I did the stitch a bit tight. Is that the cause for the difficulty in removing the threads from matty cloth??? In the second leaf, I did the cross stitch bit loose. It is somewhat better. But I am worried as after removing the aida, the cross stitch looking a bit loose. How to solve the problem!!?? Should I remove the entire cross stitch and do again with somewhat bigger matty cloth or to just trim the edges and leave as it is!!Your comments and suggestions are most welcome!!

Here comes the completed part of the embroidery on a saree blouse. I have used honey comb filling stitch, long and short and rope stitch and done with anchor cotton threads. Hope you like it!!

Saree Blouse: Embroidery in progress

Before settling with some big (saree) projects, I just thought to do simple embroidery. So I Selected saree blouse with a simple embroidery design. My focus in this project is 'honey comb filling stitch'(done for the centre part of the flower). It was my long pending wish to do a project with honey comb filling. As silk threads are my favourite, I always tried this stitch with silk threads and got disappointed, because each time after removing the hoop the stitches used to become loose. When I contacted Mary Corbet about my doubts, she immediately came up with a solution as how I can make perfect honey combs. Thanks a lot Mary.

Here in this part of the embroidery I made some mistakes while weaving the laid stitches. But hope I can make some better filling next time.
Have you done this kind of filling work??. If so please throw some light on the same. I will be more glad if you share some of your projects on this stitch. Thank you..

This is one simple ready patch worked top with kalamkari prints which I bought from handicraft exhibition organised by Lepakshi Emporium.
I selected a simple design because the material is cotton. So far I have done stems and leaves. Stem with rope stitch and leaves with my way of long and short. Flowers to be done..

Here comes the completed part of the embroidery for my daughter's kurthi- a simple one.We can extend the design up to the shoulder. In fact I have 4 different sizes of the design to fit the dress, so that it runs from one end of the bottom of the kurthi and moves up to the opposite end at the shoulder . But my daughter said one bunch is enough. I too thought the same as the material is cotton. Did you like it!!

I have planned a new project with long and short stitch. I am comfortable with my way of doing long and short. I want to come out of my comfort zone, so planning to do the other way of long and short stitch which suits best for the shading..... bit excited!!

TAST 2012 Week 37: Pistil Stitch Stitch

Pistil stitch is one more common stitch used in many of my embroidery projecst. For TAST challenge I tried to one sampler of pistil stitch which I worked them on sequins.

As I need to complete my ongoing project I couldn't complete it, otherwise it could be a beautiful swan!!??..:)
