For those of you who know me personally, know that I have been working on redoing the design of SAVVY IN SAN FRANCISCO for quite a long time now. But you know what...life gets in the way and things get put off. But I have finally pulled the trigger and SAVVY IN SAN FRANCISCO has a new look and a new location.

I'm switching from Blogger to WordPress and changing my domain name from savvyinsanfrancisco.blogspot.com to SAVVYINSANFRANCISCO.CO! I'm pretty excited to have the domain name without the blogspot in it. I'm a little nervous about switching over and the traffic following me over to the new site, so crossing my fingers and hoping for the best. So head on over to the NEW SITE and leave me a comment on what you think about it!

My Signature Style at Home

I was asked by Garnet Hill to share my signature style with my readers and I thought I would show you my signature style at home. When it comes to my home, I'm a big fan of patterns and pops of colors.

If you follow me on Instagram, you've probably seen a little peek into my style at home. The pictures above will give you a little glimpse into my signature style at home. I love bold patterns and I love even more to mix them together. I also love adding different textures and fabrics as well to make it more interesting. I love strong black and white patterns mixed with pops of bright yellow and many different shades of turquoise.

Savvy Kids: Father/Daughter Dance

My little Kindergartner went on her first date with her Daddy to the Father/Daughter dance at school. It was so sweet to see the excitement and joy in her eyes as she got ready and waiting for her Daddy to get home to take her.

He took her out to dinner first. It was the first time the two of them have ever gone out by themselves to dinner. I think being one of three kids and being the middle child, it's so important that she get that special time with her parents.

I also read somewhere that a Father said you should date your daughter and show her how she should be treated so when she grows up she has good expectations how to be treated nicely on a date.

It was such a sweet moment watching them walk off hand in hand to dinner. I know for Tatum it was a magical night that she got all to herself. She had the best time with her Daddy and all of her Kindergarten friends dancing the night away!

Last week MAC released three new 15 pan eyeshadow palettes along with two nine pan eyeshadow palettes. These palettes are sold at MAC and Nordstrom with one palette (Nordstrom Naturals palette) being exclusive to Nordstrom. The two that are sold at both stores are a warm and a cool 15 pan eyeshadow palette.

I was super excited to pick up the Nordstrom Naturals palette because it had mostly shades that were all on my must buy MAC eyeshadow list at a great deal! You get 15 shadows for $85, which works out to be $5.66 a shadow. Normally you would pay $10 or $16 depending if you buy it in refill pan form or not. Either way, this is a great deal especially since the Nordstrom Naturals is 15 of MAC's best-selling shades.

Park City

This last weekend we took a quick weekend trip to Park City, Utah. It was for a business retreat for Carlos' work and the spouses were invited. We stayed at the gorgeous St. Regis in Deer Valley (right next to Park City) on top of a mountain.

I had not skied in nine years (right before I got pregnant with Landon) and I was impressed that I remembered how! I do have to say that the ski valet service and ski in/ski out ability at the St. Regis makes it quite easy to ease myself back into it. It also didn't hurt that they had a ice castle bar that you could order champagne, wine or cocktails from that you could ski right up to.

Coqueta is located along the embarcadero at Pier 5 in San Francisco. It is a Spanish tapas concept created by Chef Michael Chiarello (Bottega). Carlos and I would put this up on one of our favorite restaurants for 2014. The food was delicious and the cocktails (get one of their Spanish gin & tonic cocktails) were amazing!

The "Sunny Side-Up" Huevo and the Albondigas a la Feria are must have dishes. If you have room for dessert, you must have the Salted Caramel Manchego cheesecake pops.....I can't even talk about them without my mouth watering.

Savvy Baking - Recipe for Safety with Kidde

One of my favorite things do to over the holiday season is to bake with the kids. There are so many different holiday treats to make including our Santa Claus cookies. These cookies have been a tradition in my family since I was a little girl. I remember making them with my Mom and my brother every Christmas. These Santa Claus cookies are such a fun and easy baking project to make with the kiddos.

While all the baking and cooking that we do can be so much fun for the holidays, Kidde wants to also remind us how to make sure we stay safe for the holidays. Kidde is the world’s largest manufacturer of fire safety products including fire extinguishers, smoke alarms, carbon dioxide alarms, escape ladders and other auxiliary products. Cooking is the number one cause of home fires and injuries and the winter months are the deadliest season for home fires. In a recent Kidde survey, nearly five times as many Americans know the shelf life of a Twinkie than know the recommended operating life of a smoke alarm.

Just as an example, I was making these Santa cookies pictured above and when I baked the second batch, I completely forgot them in the oven. It is so easy to get distracted by the kids or something else that you are doing and not here the timer go off when you are baking. I was lucky enough that we remembered in time not to have any issues except some extremely overcooked Santa cookies that had to be tossed away. But it definitely made me realize how quickly things could happen and how important it is for our family to be prepared to protect ourselves.

Kidde has shared a recipe for safety with us to help us better protect ourselves and our families:

Kidde has some great reminders for us to make sure that we are all prepared in case of an emergency and how to protect ourselves properly with some great suggestions below:

Replace smoke alarms every 10 years. If you don’t know when your home’s alarms were installed, replace them. Consider installing smoke alarms that contain a sealed-in, tamper-proof battery that will power the unit for 10 years, like Kidde’s Worry-Free alarms.

Place fire extinguishers within reach on every level of your home.

Install UL-listed carbon monoxide alarms on each floor and near bedrooms. A combination smoke/CO alarm will provide warning from both hazards in one unit.

Create an escape plan with your family.
