Female teenage suicide bomber gets cold feet, refuses to kill

2016-02-11T23:55:00.001-08:00

Strapped with a booby-trapped vest and sent by Boko Haram to kill as many people as possible, the young teenage girl tore off the explosives and fled as soon as she was out of sight of her handlers.
Her two companions, however, completed their grisly mission and walked into a crowd of hundreds at Dikwa refugee camp in northeast Nigeria and blew themselves up, killing 58 people.

Later found by local self-defense forces, the girl's tearful account is one of the first indications that at least some of the child bombers used by Boko Haram are aware that they are about to die and kill others.

"She said she was scared because she knew she would kill people, but she was also frightened of going against the instructions of the men who brought her to the camp," said Modu Awami, a self-defense fighter who helped question the girl".

Her story was corroborated when she led soldiers to the unexploded vest, Awami said Thursday by phone from the refugee camp, which holds 50,000 people who have fled Boko Haram's Islamic uprising.

The girl is in custody and has given officials information about other planned bombings that has helped them increase security at the camp, Satomi Ahmed, chairman of the Borno State Emergency Management Agency, told reporters.
Awami said he had no information about how the girl came to be with Boko Haram. The extremists have kidnapped thousands of people and there are fears they may be turning their captives into weapons.

An army bomb disposal expert has told the AP that some suicide bombs are detonated remotely, so the carriers may not have control over when the bomb goes off.
Even two days later, it's difficult to say exactly how many people died at Dikwa because there were corpses and body parts everywhere, including in the cooking pots, Awami said.

"Women, children, men and aged persons all died," he said by telephone. "I cannot say the exact number as some cannot be counted because the bodies were all mangled."

2015-11-13T02:46:00.004-08:00

Unbelievable!! Karla Jacinto has been raped more than 43,000 times in her lifetime. Ever since she was abducted by human traffickers at the age of 12, she has been sent to a number of cities, brothels, roadside motels, homes and streets known for prostitution.
She was forced to see at least 30 customers a day, seven days a week, for a span of four years before being rescued in 2008.
While speaking with CNN, she said ‘I came from a dysfunctional family. I was sexually abused and mistreated from the age of five by a relative.”

While waiting for her friends at a Train station, she met a sex trafficker who had already targeted her.
She said ‘When I saw the car I couldn’t believe it. I was very impressed by such a big car. It was exciting for me. He asked me to get in the car to go places.
‘I lived with him for three months, during which he treated me very well,’ she told CNN.
‘He loved me, he bought me clothes, gave me attention, bought me shoes, flowers, chocolates, everything was beautiful.’
‘A few days later he started telling me everything I had to do; the positions, how much I need to charge, the things I had to do with the client and for how long, how I was to treat them and how I had to talk to them so that they would give me more money.
‘I started at 10am and finished at midnight. We were in Guadalajara for a week. Do the math. Twenty per day for a week,’ she told CNN.
‘Some men would laugh at me because I was crying.
‘I had to close my eyes so that that I wouldn’t see what they were doing to me, so that I wouldn’t feel anything.’
Now, at 23 years old, Karla has become an advocate against human trafficking and has shared her story of survival at public events and conferences.

I predicted the Russian plane crash – TB Joshua

2015-11-02T04:26:00.001-08:00

The Synagogue Church Of All Nations, SCOAN, via its television station, ‘Emmanuel TV’, has revealed that the founder of the religious institution, TB Joshua, predicted the Russian plane crash.
It will be recalled that on Saturday, 31st October, no fewer than 224 persons were confirmed dead after a Russian plane crashed in Egypt. The plane, which was carrying the passengers from the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, crashed in Central Sinai, killing all of those on board.

Consequently, after the plane crashed on Saturday, the SCOAN in its usual manner announced that their founder, TB Joshua predicted the crash.
Recalling the prophecy, it was disclosed via Emmanuel TV that on Sunday 31st August 2014, TB Joshua had warned of an impending plane crash involving Russia.
A clip on the YouTube channel ‘Emmanuel TV’, disclosed, “It will not be between Ukraine and Russia this time but a close region, a neighbouring region,” he stated, “warning passenger planes to be careful of the routes they take over such volatile areas. I am seeing a full load of passengers crash again,” TB Joshua declared.
The clip claimed the prophecy was established following the Russian jet which tragically crashed on Saturday, while flying across the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt en-route to St Petersburg, killing all 224 on board.
“We pray for all those involved in this tragic incident, that God would comfort and strengthen them in this difficult time,” the clip on the YouTube channel ‘Emmanuel TV’ concluded.”

10 Month Old Baby, 223 Others Die In Russian Plane’s Crash In Egypt

2015-10-31T10:35:00.001-07:00

From Cairo in Egypt to Moscow in Russia, tears, misery and sorrow pervade the air as a Russian charter plane conveying 224 passengers, including a 10-month-old baby crashed in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula, killing all on board, according to Egyptian authorities.

Kogalymavia flight 9268 carrying 214 Russian and three Ukrainian passengers, with seven crew members, reportedly took off from the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, with Saint Petersburg, Russia, its proposed destination, before losing contact with the air traffic control centre minutes later.

According to Egyptian authorities, the wreckage of the flight was found 100 kilometres (60 miles) south of the North Sinai town of El-Arish.

Confirming the report from Egyptian authorities that none survived, Russian Embassy officials in Cairo said “Unfortunately, all passengers of Kogalymavia flight 9268 Sharm el-Sheikh-Saint Petersburg have died. We issue condolences to family and friends.”

The Islamic State (IS) claimed responsibility for the crash, with an affiliate based in the Sinai region of Egypt saying that “the soldiers of the caliphate succeeded in bringing down a Russian plane”.

Military forces have refuted their claims, stating that the Islamic State in Sinai do not have surface-to-air missiles capable of hitting a plane in high altitude.

However, they did not rule out the possibility of a bomb on board the plane or a surface-to-air missile if the plane attempted an emergency landing.

Authorities are yet to confirm the cause of the crash and IS failed to explain how it succeeded in bringing down the plane, which leaves any talk of a possible cause as mere speculation.

Pastor Kumuyi hails Buhari’s fight against corruption, says president is in right direction

2015-10-27T04:44:00.001-07:00

The General Superintendent of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, DCLM, Pastor Williams Kumuyi has lauded President Muhammadu Buhari on his war against corruption.Kumuyi said it was a step in the right direction which should be supported by all Nigerians.

Speaking with newsmen in Aba, Abia state on Sunday after unique combined worship service of the church at the Abia State Polytechnic playground, the soft-spoken cleric said “I am a layman when it comes to politics. But from what we can see, I believe that the President is in the right direction and if we support him with our comments and in other ways, I believe that we will see corruption brought down very quickly.”

The former university don added that the Church can help the President in the fight against corruption by teaching members to shun evil conducts and contribute positively to the progress of the country.

“When we say the church, we are not just talking about buildings; we are talking of people who come to church and also go to offices. For the church to support the fight against corruption, preachers must teach our people to learn how to contribute positively to the progress of the country wherever they are .If you are a governor, commissioner, teacher, minister and among others; do your best for the country. Don’t think of what you can get out of the place that you are working, but how they can contribute to the place in order to support the efforts of the government.”

Earlier in his sermon which centred on ‘The Riches of Christ’s Supernatural Love”, Kumuyi described God’s love for man as inexhaustible and beyond the imagination and understanding of man, adding that it was because of God’s love for man that made Him to send His only begotten son to die to redeem and reconcile man back to God.

According to him, “God is on a rescue mission and is ready to reach out to the deepest part of the earth to rescue anyone who wants to turn a new leaf. The reason why I’m in Abia state is that Abia is Gods Own State; I will like to plant in a place where the seed will germinate.”

Banky W shares touching story in birthday tribute to Segun Demuren

2015-10-27T04:34:00.001-07:00

In a birthday tribute to co-CEO of E.M.E Records, Segun Demuren, Banky talked about how Segun helped him when he hit rock bottom and was thinking of giving up. Quite touching. Read below...

"About @segundemuren: The morning of Jan 1st 2009 was one of the worst of my life. I went to Church the night before to pray in the new year... and there I poured my heart out to God. You see, i moved back to Lag on Feb 14th 08. It was a tough decision quitting my well-paid engineering job in nyc and moving back, but I felt incomplete and unfulfilled. That decision however, led to a tough year. I had gained some small popularity in music, but fame comes way before fortune in my line of work.

So yes there were videos on tv, but I was flat out broke. I'd spent all my savings on my music business.. I was driving a beat down car that broke down on every possible major road in Lagos, and I had resorted to "borrowing" 5k from my manager weekly, to fuel my car and buy recharge cards. I'd started second guessing my decision. Shld I have moved back at all? Shld I have listened to folks and stayed in nyc? It was hard. I wasn't getting any show bookings, infact Segun & I used to show up to events wayyy early just to make sure we could get inside, and times without number we wld beg & plead to get 5 mins to perform on shows only to get turned down. I was frustrated. Why wasn't my music working here? Why couldnt ppl see what we saw? Maybe I wasnt meant to be here? And then after church that morning, I got accosted by armed robbers, driven around on the joy-ride-from-hell, roughed up, and robbed of everything on me. Phones, money, jewelry, ipod, hat, shoes, u name it. They kept threatening to shoot me, but I just kept praying psalm 91 and somehow I made it home to Segun's house in one piece. And while I was grateful to be alive, I sunk into further depression. For a week plus I wouldn't leave my room. I felt like my whole world had come crashing down, and like I had nothing to show for all my effort and prayers. And then Segun walked into my room and said "hey bro.. I know it's really bad right now. But the good news is, this is rock bottom. U have hit it, and ur still alive. It can only get better from here, but U can't let it defeat U. U gotta get up, dust it off, and channel all that nervous energy into making music again!!" I was in shock..

I was in shock. How did he expect me to just shake everything off just like that? My mental state was a total mess. I didn't have a penny to even pay for the studio time, and even my car had been bashed. I said "bro even if I want to record, how would I pay for it?" He asked who I'd wanna work with and I said Cobhams. He asked me to find out how much it would cost... I did. The next day he walked into my room with the entire amount in full that he had borrowed from someone. Plus extra for cab fare.

I paid for the Cobhams sessions, and the very first song we created was "Strong Ting".. till date one of my biggest hits in Africa. The requests for performances started coming.. I started actually receiving airplay. Ppl finally started understanding me and my music, and better yet, they ACTUALLY liked it! My life changed from that moment and so did my finances.

God has used Segun to guide, direct, help, support and save me on too many occasions. I want to wish my big brother and role model a veryyyy happy birthday, and pray for him that he and his family will never know lack in Jesus name. For the seeds of kindness, love and support he has sown in my life and many others, may God bless him and every generation born of him. I love you forever, and I look up to you.

I shared this particular story because I also want to encourage y'all. I know life can be hard and harsh, but don't give up hope after the darkest of nights, because your morning is right around the corner.

I am the man to turn it around at Chelsea – Mourinho

2015-09-14T00:29:00.003-07:00

Chelsea boss, Jose Mourinho, has insisted that no other manager can turn around the slump at the club except him.

The Portuguese saw his team fall to their third league defeat of the season in just five games, after a Steven Naismith hat-trick gave Everton a 3-1 win on Saturday.

Mourinho says he is still the champion and that the players are not getting what they deserve

“The players deserve much better than what they are getting,” he told BT Sport.

“I know that now it’s easy for everybody to criticise me and the players and [say] ‘everything is wrong’. I completely disagree.
“I am the champion, the players are the champions. The way they are playing is not so bad as the results.
“I don’t think think there is a better manager than me to come to Chelsea and to do my job. That’s as simple as that. I’m the man for the job.
“I’m the man that gave so many good things for Chelsea. I’m the man.”
Chelsea have picked up only four points so far, but Mourinho is adamant that he is not under pressure and blasted critics with “short memories.”
He said: “I’m not feeling under pressure. I’m feeling that the results are the worst results ever in my career and [they are] not adapted to what I feel is my quality, my status.
“The players are feeling enough frustration and sadness.
“The media can be [a] critic, the supporters can be [a] critic. That’s a right they have, especially for the ones with short memories; they forgot that three months ago we won the title.
“That is football.”

Amazing Photo: Dad killed in plane crash poses with his son for the first time in a family picture

2015-09-14T00:07:00.003-07:00

A dad, Taurean Summers, who died in a plane crash when his wife was 5 months pregnant 'met' his son in a heartbreaking photo all thanks to a wonderful photographer.

Summers was onboard flight medic on a medical transport plane that crashed just outside Las Cruces in new Mexico in August 2014.
Stephanie, who named her son after his father, approached Laura Gordillo, a photographer based in Arizona to have new photos with the baby.

Stephanie posed with the boy at the same locations where she recently had anniversary photos with Summers, who died when he was only 27 years old.

Gordillo edited one of the pictures to include Summers looking over his wife and child.

"Stephanie didn't think she'd have a family photo to ever hang on her wall and show her son," Gordillo told Yahoo.

"Now it's something she can show him for years to come. When she saw it, she told me she just broke down in tears."

The photographer shared the photo on Facebook and says she has since received hundreds of messages from people with stories about similar photos of family members they have lost.
