Look at the labels on your foods. Vitamin C is sometimes also called ascorbic acid. If you are worried that you cannot get enough vitamin C naturally in your food, talk to a doctor. He or she may recommend a daily vitamin C supplement to help you maintain the correct levels of vitamin C in your bodyVitamin C is one of 13 vitamins that out body needs. Some of these vitamins are fat-soluble, which means that our body can store them for later use. However, vitamin C is one of vitamins in the body that is not fat-soluble.

Crohn’s Disease is and IBD—Inflammatory Bowel Disease—that mainly affects the small intestine. It causes both chronic pain and diarrhea and is similar to ulcerative colitis, which causes ulcers in the intestinal lining. Crohn’s Disease affects both men and women and can show up in children of in later adulthood. No one is quite sure what causes Crohn’s Disease, but there are a variety of treatment options.
One of the main symptoms of Crohn’s Disease is vitamin D deficiency, because it is not absorbed regularly into the body due to the active inflammation in the intestines. Vitamin D is necessary to help regulate the amount of calcium in the body. You normally get vitamin D through the foods that you eat and the sun, which causes you to absorb vitamin D through the skin. However, for Crohn’s Disease patients, vitamin D supplement may need to be taken.
Overview

Each person has two adrenal glands, one located on top of each of the body’s two kidneys. These glands are important to the body’s endocrine (hormonal) system. Each adrenal gland has two main parts, which function separately:
Adrenal cortex. The outer part of the adrenal gland is called the cortex. The adrenal cortex makes three hormones: cortisol, aldosterone, and dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA). These hormones carefully control metabolism and body characteristics, such as hair growth and body shape.
Adrenal medulla. The gland’s inner part is called the medulla. The adrenal medulla makes other hormones: epinephrine, norepinephrine, and dopamine. These hormones control the body’s responses to stress, including the “fight or flight” adrenaline surge.
Types of adrenal gland tumors
Therefore, those who suffer from this are recommended to respond or look for proper ways of dealing with the situation since it is potentially dangerous. Aside from that, the person suffering from anxiety attack lack the ability to think clearly or lose connection with reality.
To deal with anxiety fear, a person must realize that he or she has a choice in the way they respond to stimulus of fear. Knowing this will immensely alter and reframe the way you look at fear. Now, you will be able to gain power over your fear instead of being controlled by it. Because if not, then fear always finds a way to create negative impacts on your brain and the way you perceive things. Look at fear in a different light, so that it does not produce the same anxious feeling as it usually does on you.
Anxiety can be defined as emotions which are typically negative in nature. It will often consist of fear and worry, and some organisms may even experience physical signs such as nausea or chest pains. Anxiety is a complex emotion, and is composed of a number of different elments. Some of these elements are somatic or cognitive, and the body will prepare itself to deal with an external threat. The heart rate speeds up, and the blood pressure is increased. The various muscles in the body will also receive elevated levels of blood. At the same time, the functions of the digestive system will slow down.
People who have anxiety will generally have a sense of dread. A number of voluntary and involuntary processes will take place in the body, and the goal of these processes is to get the organism away from the source that is causing it to have anxiety. Anxiety is an important emotion, and is designed to increase the survival rate of organisms. In humans it appears that anxiety comes from the hippocampus and amygdala, two regions of the brain. When a person senses bad odors or tastes, there will be a large amount of blood flow which will be present in the amygdala. The evidence also shows that medium levels of anxiety will be present in this situation as well
Inside a woman's breast are 15 to 20 sections called lobes. Each lobe is made of many smaller sections called lobules. Lobules have groups of tiny glands that can make milk. After a baby is born, a woman's breast milk flows from the lobules through thin tubes called ducts to the nipple. Fat and fibrous tissue fill the spaces between the lobules and ducts.
The breasts also contain lymph vessels. These vessels are connected to small, round masses of tissue called lymph nodes. Groups of lymph nodes are near the breast in the underarm (axilla), above the collarbone, and in the chest behind the breastbone

#Childhood astrocytomas are tumors

Childhood astrocytomas are tumors

Childhood astrocytomas are tumors in the brain or spinal cord. The tumors are an abnormal mass of tissue that results when glial cells (a type of cell that holds nerve cells in place and helps them work properly) divide more than they should or do not die when they should. An astrocyte is a type of glial cell.
The PDQ® Childhood Astrocytomas Treatment cancer information summary discusses the treatment of astrocytomas and some other glial cell tumors. Treatment is based on the grade of the tumor. The following grades are used:
Low grade astrocytomas:
Pilocytic astrocytoma (such as pilomyxoid astrocytoma, pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma, and subependymal giant cell astrocytoma)
Diffuse astrocytoma (such as gemistocytic astrocytoma, protoplasmic astrocytoma, and fibrillary astrocytoma)
Oligodendroglial tumor (such as oligodendroglioma)
Mixed glioma (such as oligoastrocytoma)
High grade astroctyomas:
Anaplastic astrocytoma
Glioblastoma multiforme
Anaplastic oligodendroglioma
Anaplastic oligoastrocytoma

#Skin Cancer Treatment

Skin Cancer Treatment

Definition of skin cancer: Cancer that forms in the tissues of the skin. There are several types of skin cancer. Skin cancer that forms in melanocytes (skin cells that make pigment) is called melanoma. Skin cancer that forms in the lower part of the epidermis (the outer layer of the skin) is called basal cell carcinoma. Skin cancer that forms in squamous cells (flat cells that form the surface of the skin) is called squamous cell carcinoma. Skin cancer that forms in neuroendocrine cells (cells that release hormones in response to signals from the nervous system) is called neuroendocrine carcinoma of the skin. Most skin cancers form in older people on parts of the body exposed to the sun or in people who have weakened immune systems.
Estimated new cases and deaths from skin (nonmelanoma) cancer in the United States in 2010
New cases: more than 1,000,000
Deaths: less than 1,000
Most bladder cancers are transitional cell carcinomas (cancer that begins in cells that normally make up the inner lining of the bladder). Other types include squamous cell carcinoma (cancer that begins in thin, flat cells) and adenocarcinoma (cancer that begins in cells that make and release mucus and other fluids). This list of common cancer types includes cancers that are diagnosed with the greatest frequency in the United States, excluding nonmelanoma skin cancers:

Breast Cancer Melanoma
Leukemia Thyroid Cancer
Bladder Cancer Lung Cancer
Endometrial Cancer Pancreatic Cancer
Colon and Rectal Cancer Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma
Kidney (Renal Cell) Cancer Prostate Cancer
Cancer incidence and mortality statistics reported by the American Cancer Society1 and other resources were used to create the list. To qualify as a common cancer, the estimated annual incidence for 2010 had to be 40,000 cases or more.
The most common type of cancer on the list is lung cancer, with more than 222,000 new cases expected in the United States in 2010. The cancer with the lowest incidence is leukemia. Leukemia as a cancer type includes acute lymphoblastic (or lymphoid) leukemia, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, acute myeloid leukemia, chronic myelogenous (or myeloid) leukemia, and other forms of leukemia. It is estimated that 43,050 new cases of leukemia will be diagnosed in the United States in 2010, with chronic lymphocytic leukemia being the most common type (approximately 14,990 new cases).
Because colon and rectal cancers are often referred to as "colorectal cancers," these two cancer types are combined for the list. For 2010, the estimated number of new cases of colon cancer and rectal cancer are 102,900 and 39,670, respectively, adding to a total of 142,570 new cases of colorectal cancer.
Kidney cancers can be divided into two major groups, renal parenchyma cancers and renal pelvis cancers. Approximately 92 percent of kidney cancers develop in the renal parenchyma,2 and nearly all of these cancers are renal cell cancers. The estimated number of new cases of renal cell cancer for 2010 is 53,581

Cancer Advances In Focus

BREAST CANCER

Yesterday
In 1975, the incidence rate for female breast cancer in the United States was 105 new cases diagnosed for every 100,000 women in the population; the mortality rate was 31 deaths for every 100,000 women.

Among women diagnosed with breast cancer during the period from 1975 through 1977, about 75% survived their disease at least 5 years. Among white women, the 5-year relative survival rate was 76%; among African American women, it was 62%.

Mastectomy was the only accepted surgical option for breast cancer treatment.
Overview
Amyloidosis is not cancer, but it is a serious, potentially life-threatening condition that can occur because of some cancers. The basis of amyloidosis is the amyloid, which is an abnormal protein that enters tissues or organs. When enough amyloid proteins are present in an organ to interfere with its functioning and cause symptoms, the condition called amyloidosis results

Overview

Cancer begins when normal cells begin to change and grow uncontrollably, forming a mass called a tumor. A tumor can be benign (noncancerous) or malignant (cancerous, meaning it can spread to other parts of the body).
Adenoid cystic carcinoma (AdCC) is a rare form of adenocarcinoma, which is a broad term describing any cancer arising from glandular tissues. AdCC is found mainly in the head and neck, but it can occasionally occur in a woman’s uterus or other sites in the body. It most commonly occurs in the salivary glands, which consist of clusters of secretory cells scattered throughout the upper aerodigestive tract (the organs and tissues of the upper respiratory tract, including the lips, mouth, tongue, nose, throat, vocal cords, and part of the esophagus and windpipe). Therefore, a tumor may begin in such areas as the:
palate (roof of the mouth)
cancer medical term: malignant neoplasm

Cancer ˈkænsər||en-us-cancer.ogg (medical term: malignant neoplasm) is a class of diseases in which a group of cell display uncontrolled growth through division beyond normal limits, invasion that intrudes upon and destroys adjacent tissues, and sometimes metastasis, which spreads the cells to other locations in the body via lymph or blood. These three malignant properties of cancers differentiate them from benign tumors, which are self-limited, and do not invade or metastasize. Cancers are primarily an environmental disease with 90-95% of cases due to lifestyle and environmental factors and 5-10% due to heredity. Common environmental factors leading to cancer death include: tobacco (25-30%), diet and obesity (30-35%), infections (15-20%), radiation, stress, lack of physical activity, and environmental pollutants.
Each year, about 22,000 women in the United States are diagnosed with ovarian cancer. The symptoms of ovarian cancer are often common and vague, which makes it difficult to diagnose.
There are more than 30 different types of ovarian tumors, which are categorized according to the cell type. Some are benign (noncancerous) and do not spread beyond the ovary. Malignant (cancerous) tumors can spread to other parts of the body.
Currently, there is no effective early detection method for ovarian cancer.
