There is lot you could read about God, religion, life and world but it boils down to one thing, this life of yours and it's purpose .

Long long ago there was a mango garden in a village. The children of the village always wanted to enter the garden and eat the fruit but could not because it was locked. One day the owner of the garden took out the lock and allowed free entry to all the children of the village to enter the garden and do whatever they want. All the children of the village were overjoyed , ran into the garden, some of the them started to count the number of the branches on the tree, some of them counted the number of leaves and some of them tried to find out who is the owner of the garden and what was the history of his fathers and grandfathers but there was one girl who climbed the tree plucked the fruit ,started eating it and enjoying it.

Life is like this garden too, it have so much knowledge around if you want to learn , so much details, so much amazing concepts but the purpose of life is to eat the fruit and enjoy it, who cares about all the other knowledge . But what is the fruit to be eaten . Some say that fruit is God realization , Nirvana, Samadhi etc..... Whatever it is it's important to search for it and strive for it. Blessed is the man who is on this path of striving for the fruit of life and striving for the truth !!

IAMTHAT !!

Our mind is the most important tool we have in the search of truth.a well trained, disciplined mind is a blessing on us and at the same time an untrained mind leads to destruction.
Every man in this world does have different states of consciousness.from the time you wake up in the morning to night when u sleep and even in sleep you pass through this phases of consciousness in your mind.one minute you are happy, next hungry ,next sleepy ,next sad.different things around you elicit different reaction in you.The sages, saints, yogis and the scriptures describe that during the process of search of truth ,you have to reach a state of mind which is undisturbed by your surroundings.it does not mean you become inert and non living but it means you are in a state of constant bliss. Is there bliss in meditation and prayer and singing hymns of praises to God.All those who experienced it know there is bliss.that bliss which overflows through the heart and makes you feel calm .which de stress you from the surrounding chaos and confusion that exists around you.the aim of truth seeking and god seeking is to first achieve that steadiness in mind ,get that state by anyway you want>>>>> prayer, meditation, scripture reading ,satsang, singing hymns, selfless work>> the aim is to reach that state, not just taste it but so consistently train our mind to b in that state all the time when we are awake, working, sleeping ,eating, praying, talking. This is real yoga. That is the natural state of mind, every other state was superimposed on our mind.we need to dehypnotise ourself and remove all other super impositions and steady our mind ,only then true religion has become .
Bless!!
I have always seen people say how the world has been very unfair to them and how they have to always face tiring circumstances. The world with its misery and problems is very essential for us to grow inward. Many saints ,philanthropist and other great souls, that have done great good to the world did not see it as they are doing some help to the world but thought that the world with its problems presents us an opportunity to grow and become better people and human beings and restore peace inside us and in the world outside. There is aa famous story of Joh D Rockfeller the worlds richest man meeting with a eastern monk.

In the late 1800s, Swami Vivekananda went to Chicago to attend the Parliament of Religions. He became an ardent and outspoken advocate of human values. One of the people he met in Chicago was John D Rockefeller, who had made a great fortune in the booming oil business at the time. Rockefeller was introduced to the Swami by a friend. Madame Emma Calve, a French lady disciple narrated this episode to Madame Drinette Verdier, who has written about their meeting in her diary. That is my source.

Rockefeller probably came for a lark, meaning that he wasn’t really interested in meeting Swami Vivekananda; he had been told that a saffron-clad monk was electrifying the people of Chicago, and it is possible that he went out of curiosity. Swamiji didn’t even look up from his desk when Rockefeller entered. He continued to do his work. After a while, he looked up at Rockefeller, who was not really used to being treated like a commoner. Rockefeller took a seat and conversation ensued.

It became apparent to Swamiji that Rockefeller had lots of wealth and Swamiji posed him a question, “If you have that much more money than other people, do you think that much smarter than other people?” Rockefeller replied, “Of course.” If he wasn’t a hundred times smarter, he wouldn’t have a hundred times the money, would he?

Swamiji left him with the thought that he may not be one hundred times smarter, he maybe just three times smarter. If he had made a hundred times more money by being three times smarter, then perhaps he was merely an instrument through which this money has to go back to somebody else. “Why don’t you think about it? And why don’t you consider leaving some of your money for other people?”

This sounded absolutely ridiculous to Rockefeller, and he departed with the polite statement that he had worked really hard to make his money, and he had absolutely no intention of leaving it to other people. But curiously, three weeks later, he came back to see Swami Vivekananda, this time of his own accord. He threw on his table a piece of paper, by which he endowed a certain sum of money — I forget how much it was, but it was small by Rockefeller’s standards — for some noble purpose. "Well, there you are", he said. "You must be satisfied now, and you can thank me for it."

Swamiji didn't even lift his eyes, did not move. Then taking the paper, he quietly read it, saying: "It is for you to thank me". That was all. This was Rockefeller's first large donation to the public welfare.

It took another 15 years after this episode, that Rockefeller set up the Rockefeller Foundation in 1913, which has gone on to do an enormous amount of good work in society over the last several decades. The story illustrates the point of trusteeship. When you have earned a lot of money, whose money is it? Did that money come to you entirely because of yourself or is it possible that you are merely an instrument through which you should canalise it back to society? It is a very interesting question to ponder. I narrate this story, because the element of trusteeship comes out so clearly in the conversation between Swami Vivekananda and John D Rockefeller.

Is desire bad or good .

Lord Buddha said Desire is the root of all suffering .It is important to conquer desires but how is the question of every truth seeker.

Not all desires that u get in your mind are meant to be fulfilled. Its important to choose which one of them are important to conquer and which ones are not.the greatest power that humans have so far is the power to discriminate .Using Discrimination that has its origin in the soul of a man every human being decides which desire is worthy to strive for and which is not.its important to identify a righteous desire.Whenever if you are faced with this dilemma in life.It helps questioning yourself if the desire you want to achieve is a righteous one or not.

A man who is truthful and sincere to his soul and to the world around him is the most powerful being in the world. There are people who have considered truth as a penance and lived their whole life around that principle .Mahatma Gandhi, the Indian freedom fighter is one of them .His autobiography "My experiments with truth' clearly shows that he has lived his whole life on this principle, no wonder he was able to influence so many people and all the masses of India followed him.

This is a story said by him in one of his interviews to a journalist. This particular journalist argued with him that it is impossible to speak truth in practical Life. Gandhi disagreed with him and said its not hard to speak truth even in difficult situations and said the following story to the journalist.

The story was about a monk who was meditating in the forest. It so happened that, One day a hunter was chasing a deer .The deer trying to run away from the hunter came and went into a bush in front of the monk to hide while the monk was seeing it do so .The hunter who was following the deer came up to the monk and asked him If he saw the deer coming that way ?. The journalist smiled and said,"This is what I am talking about, tell me sir what should the monk do if he sticks to being truthful and say that the deer is in the bush he will be responsible for its death. If he says he did not see it ,he will be lying .

Gandhi smiled and said ,The monk answered the hunter " My eyes saw the deer ,but my mouth refuses to tell you ."Saying thus Gandhi said it is not necessary that you should answer every question asked to you in life, when you do not want to say the truth and if you think that by saying the truth you will be doing harm to somebody, you need not lie rather you can just remain silent and not answer.

Human beings from the beginning of his existence had to believe firmly that this human life is a transitory phase. Otherwise this life starting with birth and ending with death had no other meaning or purpose for him if he did not believe that there is a level of existence higher than his own existence. He believed that that state is permanent and eternal and this in different faiths have been stated as reaching heaven, attaining nirvana, moksha, liberation whatever it is.

There is a very beautiful illustration of two birds ,first told centuries ago and being told again and again after that ,explains the journey of an individual towards truth.

There were two birds on a tree on 2 different branches, one higher and one lower. The bird on the higher branch was very peaceful and calm and was in absolute bliss. The bird on the lower branch was very restless and always busy eating fruits from the branch, worrying for food ,survival, sometimes happy ,sometimes in sorrow .

Once in a while it would look upon the bird on the higher branch and would wonder how that bird was so blissful and makes an attempt to find out why it was so happy ,fly one branch higher ,to reach the bird on the highest branch , but when it reaches the higher branch it gets busy again eating the fruits of that branch until it eats a sour fruit , gets restless again and looks upon the higher bird again make another step towards the bird until finally the bird reaches the highest branch and to its surprise finds out that it has merged into the bird there and becomes blissful like the bird there. This story has a very deep inner meaning of human existence and its journey towards the truth(God)The lower bird is compared to our present level of existence at the human level ,we are always busy with this life that we don't tend to look for some higher meaning or truth for this life until we have a bad sour experience ,its then we want to look towards some higher truth or meaning.

Whatever the truth represented by the higher bird is, it helps and gives hope to human beings that there is something permanent beyond death.

Which is easy to say until you are
in the midst of a really big one, I know. But the only people I am
aware of who don't have troubles are gathered in little neighborhoods.
Most communities have at least one. We call them cemeteries.

If you're breathing, you have difficulties. It's the way of life. And
believe it or not, most of your problems may actually be good for you!
Let me explain.

Maybe you have seen the Great Barrier Reef, stretching some 1,800
miles from New Guinea to Australia. Tour guides regularly take
visitors to view the reef. On one tour, the guide was asked an
interesting question. "I notice that the lagoon side of the reef looks
pale and lifeless, while the ocean side is vibrant and colorful," a
traveler observed. "Why is this?"

The guide gave an interesting answer: "The coral around the lagoon
side is in still water, with no challenge for its survival. It dies
early. The coral on the ocean side is constantly being tested by wind,
waves, storms - surges of power. It has to fight for survival every
day of its life. As it is challenged and tested it changes and adapts.
It grows healthy. It grows strong. And it reproduces." Then he added
this telling note: "That's the way it is with every living organism."

That's how it is with people. Challenged and tested, we come alive!
Like coral pounded by the sea, we grow. Physical demands can cause us
to grow stronger. Mental and emotional stress can produce tough-
mindedness and resiliency. Spiritual testing can produce strength of
character and faithfulness.

So, you have problems - no problem! Just tell yourself, "There I grow
again!"

KILL YOUR EGO

If you want to reach a state of bliss,
then go beyond your ego and the internal dialogue. Make a decision to relinquish
the need to control, the need to be approved, and the need to judge. Those
are the three things the ego is doing all the time. It's very important
to be aware of them every time they come up.
Deepak Chopra
There was once a scientist. After a lot of practice & efforts, he-developed a formula & learned the art of reproducing himself. He did-it so perfectly that it was impossible to tell the reproduction from the original.

One day while doing his research, he realized that the Angel of Death was searching for him. In order to remain alive he reproduced a dozen copies of himself. The reproduction was so similar that all of them looked exactly like him.

Now when this Angel of Death came down, he was at a loss to know which of the thirteen before him was the original scientist, & confused, he left them all alone & returned back to heaven.

But, not for long, for being an expert in human nature, the Angel came up with a clever idea. He said to the scientist addressing all thirteen of them, "Sir, you must be a genius to have succeeded in making such perfect reproduction formula of yourself. However, I have discovered a flaw in your work, just one tiny little flaw."

The scientist immediately jumped out & shouted,

"Impossible! where is the flaw?"

"Right here" said the Angel, as he picked up the scientist from among the reproductions & carried him off.

The whole purpose of the scientist & his formula of reproduction failed as he could not control his pride, so he lost his life.

So when man's Knowledge & Skills takes him to the top of the ladder &makes him successful, however the three letter word "EGO" can pull him down to earth immediately at its double speed.

So don't allow Ego to kill yourself,

Instead; KILL YOUR EGO..!!!

The elephant and 4 blind men: GAUTHAM BUDDHA’S CONCEPT OF TRUTH (GOD) –Part 2

He continued questioning the 1st person what is the nature
of God according to his faith and what does his faith ask him to do? He replied
that His God is all compassionate, infinite, all pervading, loving and so
forth. Then he said his faith demands him to be truthful, nonviolent, loving
towards your neighbors, charitable and so forth. The 2nd,3rd
and the 4 person described more or less the same qualities for their Gods to and more or less the same things that they
followed. Hearing to all of them Buddha smiled and said’ When all your faiths
demands you to be ethical ,moral ,loving and nonviolent and if you are
following it ,there is no conflict between your faiths .Hearing Buddha say this
all the 4 people realize their mistake and bowed the great teacher and left
satisfied.

upon God for him it was not important, what was important was an ethical moral
nonviolent principled life through which he said one could get liberated from
this cycle of life and death and attain Nirvana which according to him was the
absolute truth.

The Blind men and the Elephant (Buddha Truth parable)-Part 1

This is a story about what is Truth?
Long Long ago there was a great saint and enlightened person by name Buddha.this is the story which was famous as his parable and has been repeated plenty times throughout the eastern and European worlds to explain the nature of Truth.
There were 4 persons who belonged to 4 different faiths. They were always arguing and fighting among themselves. All of them heard that Buddha the learned one was passing by their village. So all of them went up to him and asked him which of their faith is true. The Great Buddha said before he tell them ,which version of faith is the truth he wanted them to hear this story :
There were once 4 blind men who were passing through a forest and stumbled upon an elephant. One of the Blind man hold the trunk of the elephant and then said" Elephant is like a pillar .The other hold on to the tusk of the elephant and said elephant is like a long sharp sword. The other blind man hold on to the legs of the elephant and said elephant is like a huge wall. The other one hold on to the tail of the elephant and said that elephant is like a rope. All of them started fighting among themselves that their version of elephant is truth, when finally a person who could actually see and was not blind passed through the forest and saw all of 4 blind men fighting among themselves and enquired why they were doing so ?
when he heard what they said he laughed and said all of them were true and elephant was all of that. All the blind men thought that because this man could see he was making fun of them .
Buddha saying the above story said most of us are like those blind people who only experience the truth(God) in our own way and describe it in our own way like those blind people and think only our version of truth is the right one but in truth all of us are just explaining only one aspect of the whole truth .The aim of all human life is to realize Truth (like that the man who could see the elephant ) and understand that different faiths are just describing only different aspects of the same truth (God) .He then said the most important truth which according to me forms the center of all Buddha's teaching and Life
(To be contd..)

Once upon a mountain top, three little trees stood and dreamed of what they
wanted to become when they grew up.

The first little tree looked up at the stars and said: "I want to hold
treasure. I want to be covered with gold and filled with precious stones.
I'll be the most beautiful treasure chest in the world!"

The second little tree looked out at the small stream trickling by on it's
way to the ocean. "I want to be traveling mighty waters and carrying
powerful kings. I'll be the strongest ship in the world!"

The third little tree looked down into the valley below where busy men and
women worked in a busy town. "I don't want to leave the mountain top at all.
I want to grow so tall that when people stop to look at me, they'll raise
their eyes to heaven and think of God. I will be the tallest tree in the
world."

Years passed. The rain came, the sun shone, and the little trees grew tall.
One day three woodcutters climbed the mountain.

The first woodcutter looked at the first tree and said, "This tree is
beautiful. It is perfect for me." With a swoop of his shining axe, the first
tree fell. "Now I shall be made into a beautiful chest, I shall hold
wonderful treasure!" The first tree said.

The second woodcutter looked at the second tree and said, "This tree is
strong. It is perfect for me." With a swoop of his shining axe, the second
tree fell. "Now I shall sail mighty waters!" thought the second tree. "I
shall be a strong ship for mighty kings!"

The third tree felt its heart sink when the last woodcutter looked its way.
It stood straight and tall and pointed bravely to heaven. But the woodcutter
never even looked up. "Any kind of tree will do for me. "He muttered. With a
swoop of his shining axe, the third tree fell.

The first tree rejoiced when the woodcutter brought it to a carpenter's
shop. But the carpenter fashioned the tree into a feedbox for animals. The
once beautiful tree was not covered with gold, nor with treasure. It was
coated with sawdust and filled with hay for hungry farm animals.

The second tree smiled when the woodcutter took it to a shipyard, but no
mighty sailing ship was made that day. Instead the once strong tree was
hammered and sawed into a simple fishing boat. It was too small and too weak
to sail to an ocean, or even a river; instead it was taken to a little lake.

The third tree was confused when the woodcutter cut it into strong beams and
left it in a lumberyard. "What happened?" The once tall tree wondered. "All
I ever wanted was to stay on the mountain top and point to God."

Many many days and night passed. The three trees nearly forgot their dreams.
But one night, golden starlight poured over the first tree as a young woman
placed her newborn baby in the feedbox. "I wish I could make a cradle for
him," her husband whispered. The mother squeezed his hand and smiled as the
starlight shone on the smooth and the sturdy wood." This manger is
beautiful," she said. And suddenly the first tree knew it was holding the
greatest treasure in the world.

One evening a tired traveler and his friends crowded into the old fishing
boat. The traveler fell asleep as the second tree quietly sailed out into
the lake. Soon a thundering and thrashing storm arose. The little tree
shuddered. It knew it did not have the strength to carry so many passengers
safely through with the wind and the rain. The tired man awakened. He stood
up, stretched out his hand, and said, "Peace." The storm stopped as quickly
as it had begun. Suddenly the second tree knew it was carrying the king of
heaven and earth.

One Friday morning, the third tree was startled when its beams were yanked
from the forgotten woodpile. It flinched as it was carried through an angry
jeering crowd. It shuddered when soldiers nailed a man's hands to her. It
felt ugly and harsh and cruel. But on Sunday morning, when the sun rose and
the earth tremble with joy beneath it, the third tree knew that God's love
had changed everything. It had made the third tree strong. *And every time
people thought of the third tree, they would think of God*. That was better
than being the tallest tree in the world.

*So next time you feel down because you didn't get what you want, just sit
tight and be happy because God is thinking of something better to give you*.

While we all pray for each other that one should not come across any
obstacle in life, I have a different view after reading the following:

We MUST come across obstacles and need to pray for each other to overcome
obstacles (with some pain) and progress.

One night recently my daughter was showing me an aquarium full of tadpoles.
She had purchased a whole bag
full of them for her children to watch grow from tadpoles into frogs.

I noticed that there was a big rock in the aquarium. When I asked her why
she put a rock right in the middle of the tadpoles' environment, she told me
an interesting story. I can hardly believe that I have lived all these years
without having heard it. It is so good and "life-essence saturated."

She said that she was instructed by the Pet Store Salesman to be sure to
"put a big rock right in the middle of the aquarium." He explained that "the
tadpoles must have this obstacle to give them the incentive to climb up and
thus split their little wiggly tails so that their legs can begin to
develop. If they have no rock or obstacle to climb up on, they will never
turn into frogs. They cannot learn how to hop by just swimming around in
water. They must have something causing resistance to give them the
incentive to leap forward.

The man went on to tell her that last year a school teacher came back to the
store and complained because none of her tadpoles had ever turned into
frogs. He asked her if she had put a big obstacle, like a rock, in the
middle of the aquarium. She said that she had not. She did not know that a
tadpole will remain a tadpole unless it faces some obstacle or barrier that
forces it to grow. Neither did I, but it makes perfect sense.

Well, I was amazed and delighted to hear that story. It helped me better to
see, once again, why life presents obstacles and barriers in front of us.
The barriers are not there to hinder us, but they are there to cause us to
grow. It is not so much what the object is in front of each one of us that
matters as much as it is our attitude towards it. If we realize that the
obstacle we are facing is really a GIFT that has come our way to help us
GROW & mature, we will be much more likely to face it in a positive way.

I have begun to see the obstacles I face in a different way. Instead of
being rocks in my path, those obstacles have become stepping stones to help
me leap forward in whatever situation I find myself.

I know that those little tadpoles have no idea what is going on. They just
are not that smart. The truth of the matter is, neither are we. Most of us
have no idea what all is going on in our lives either. We don't understand
that the barriers and obstacles, challenges, difficulties and hard times
that come our way each day are actually there for a purpose. There is no way
we will have the incentive to grow, or to become better, or to strive
harder, if everything in life is just a simple situation. I know the harder
I work at anything, the more profitable it is for me, not only financially,
but personally, in my own heart and character as well.

So, the next time you see a frog hopping around, smile at him and thank him
for the lesson, remembering the struggle he has gone through to get where he
is. Perhaps out in the wild somewhere, he faced a difficult rock or barrier
in his life, but rather than swimming away from it, he just crawled up on it
and began to develop his personal strength until he eventually matured to
become the frog that you see hopping around.

You are NEVER faced with an obstacle that is impossible to overcome.
Remember that!

This saint went about his daily life diffusing virtue as the stars diffuse light and the flowers scent, without being aware of it. His day could be summed up by two words -- he gave, he forgave -- yet these words never passed his lips. They were expressed in his ready smile, his kindness, forbearance, and charity.

The angels said to God, "Lord, grant him the gift of miracles."
God replied, "Ask what it is that he wishes."

They said to the saint, "Would you like the touch of your hands to heal the sick?"
"No," answered the saint. "I would rather God do that."

"Would you like to convert guilty souls and bring back wandering hearts to the right path?"
"No, that is the angels' mission. It is not for me to convert."

"Would you like to become a model of patience, attracting men by the luster of your virtues, and thus glorifying God?"

"No," replied the saint. "If men should be attracted to me, they would become estranged from God." "What is it that you desire, then?" asked the angels.

"What can I wish for?" asked the saint smiling. "That God gives me his grace; with that would I not have everything?"

The angels said, "You must ask for a miracle, or one will be forced upon you." "Very well," said the saint. "That I may do a great deal of good without ever knowing it."

The angels were perplexed. They took counsel and resolved upon the following plan: every time the saint's shadow fell behind him or to either side, so that he could not see it, it would have the power to cure disease, soothe pain, and comfort sorrow.

When the saint walked along, his shadow, thrown on the ground on either side or behind him, made arid paths green, caused withered plants to bloom, gave clear water to dried-up brooks, fresh color to pale children, and joy to unhappy men and women.

The saint simply went about his daily life diffusing virtue as the stars diffuse light and the flowers scent, without being aware of it. The people, respecting his humility, followed him silently, never speaking to him about his miracles. Soon they even forgot his name, and called him "The Holy Shadow."

This is the ultimate: one has to become the holy shadow, just a shadow of God. This is the greatest revolution that can happen to a human being: the transfer of the center. You are no longer your own center; God becomes your center. You live like his shadow. You are not powerful, because you don't have any center to be powerful.

You are not virtuous; you don't have any center to be virtuous. You are not even religious; you don't have any center to be religious. You are simply not, a tremendous emptiness, with no barriers and blocks, so the divine can flow through you unhindered, uninterpreted, untouched -- so the divine can flow through you as he is, not as you would like him to be. He does not pass through your center -- there is none.

Ratan Tata not even a billionaire!

*Why ratan tata's name is not on the billionaires list.......?

Here is a Real Story of Ratan Tata:

So many people around the world want to know that "What is the Net Worth of
Ratan Tata"?

TATA Group is running 96 businesses and out of which 28 Companies are
publically listed on the various stock exchanges.
Tata Group is world's top 50 Group according to Market capitalization and
Reputation.

Have you ever thought why Ratan tata's name is not in the list of
billionaire' s club? why Ratan Tata is not a billionaire on the Forbes
magazine list of billionaire people of the world?

The reason is that, TATA Group's 96 companies are held by its main Company
"TATA Sons" and the main owner of this TATA Sons is not Ratan Tata but
various charitable organizations developed and run by TATA Group.

Out of which JRD TATA Trust & Sir Ratan Tata Trust are the main. 65%
ownership of TATA Sons which is the key holding company of the other 96 TATA
Group Company is held by various charitable organizations.

So this 65% ownership ownership of Tatasons Limited is not reflected on
Ratan Tata's personal Financial Statement but on the various charitable
organizations. and this is the reason why Ratan Tata is not in the list of
Billionaire club.

if we put this 65% ownership of Tata Sons in Ratan TATA's own personal
financial statement then Ratan Tata's Net worth can become more than $ 70
billion. and that's much more than the Warren Buffet's Current Net Worth of
$ 62 billion, the world's richest person according to Forbes magazine 2008.

However, it doesn't mean that Ratan Tata is poor. In one interviews he had
told the reporter that, "I have my own Capital". He is the chairman of Tata
Group so obviously he earns lots of money every year as a bonus,
remuneration and salary. However, Ratan Tata's Net worth is not $ 1
Billion.

He is not a billionaire on paper. but in reality he is the richest
person of the world. His net worth in reality is more than Bill Gates and
Warren Buffet.

SO the good thing about Tata Group is that, They do Charity out of their
Money...

And that is the reason TATA Group has generated so much of Goodwill over
last 5 generations

By Steve Goodier*

At the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris, the sport of canoe racing was added to
the list of international competitions. The favorite team in the four-man
canoe race was the United States team. One member of that team was a young
man by the name of Bill Havens.

As the time for the Olympics neared, it became clear that Bill's wife would
give birth to their first child about the time that the U.S. team would be
competing in the Paris games. In 1924 there were no jet airliners from Paris
to the United States, only slow ocean going ships. And so Bill found himself
in a dilemma. Should he go to Paris and risk not being at his wife's side
when their baby was born? Or should he withdraw from the team and remain
with his family?

Bill's wife insisted that he go to Paris. After all, competing in the
Olympics was the culmination of a life long dream. But Bill felt conflicted
and, after much soul searching, decided to withdraw from the competition and
remain home, where he could support his wife when the child arrived. He
considered being at her side his highest priority, even higher than going to
Paris to fulfill his dream.

As it turned out, the United States four-man canoe team won the gold medal
in Paris. And Bill's wife was late in giving birth to their child. She was
so late, in fact, that Bill could have competed in the event and returned
home in time to be with her when she gave birth.

People said, "What a shame." But Bill said he had no regrets. For the rest
of his life, he believed he had made the better decision.

Bill Havens knew what was most important to him. Not everybody figures that
out. And he acted on what he believed was best. Not everybody has the
strength of character to say no to something he or she truly wants in order
to say yes to something that truly matters. But for Bill, it was the only
way to peace; the only way to no regrets.

There is an interesting sequel to the story of Bill Havens...

The child eventually born to Bill and his wife was a boy, whom they named
Frank. Twenty-eight years later, in 1952, Bill received a cablegram from
Frank. It was sent from Helsinki, Finland, where the 1952 Olympics were
being held. The cablegram read: "Dad, I won. I'm bringing home the gold
medal you lost while waiting for me to be born."

Frank Havens had just won the gold medal for the United States in the
canoe-racing event, a medal his father had dreamed of winning but never did.
Like I said, no regrets.

Thomas Kinkade eloquently said, *"When we learn to say a deep, passionate
yes to the things that really matter, then peace begins to settle onto our
lives like golden sunlight sifting to a forest floor.

He saw that he was
walking along a sandy beach while his past life unfolded before his eyes.
The devotee saw that besides his own, there was another set of footprints
moving along with him.
He called out, "Who is walking along with me?God replied, "It is Me, My child."

Alexander, after conquering many kingdoms, was returning home. On the way,
he fell ill and it took him to his death bed. With death staring him in his
face, Alexander realized how his conquests, his great army, his sharp sword
and all his wealth were of no consequence.

He now longed to reach home to see his mother's face and bid her his last
adieu. But, he had to accept the fact that his sinking health would not
permit him to reach his distant homeland.

So, the mighty conqueror lay prostrate and pale, helplessly waiting to
breathe his last. He called his generals and said, "I will depart from this
world soon, I have three wishes, please carry them out without
fail."
With tears flowing down their cheeks, the generals agreed to abide by their
king's last wishes.
1) "My first desire is that", said Alexander,
*"My physicians alone must" carry my coffin."
2) After a pause, he continued,
*"Secondly, I desire that when my coffin is being carried to the grave, the
path leading to the graveyard be strewn with gold, silver and precious
stones which I have collected in my treasury".*

3) The king felt exhausted after saying this. He took a minute's rest and
continued.
*"My third and last wish is that both my hands be kept dangling out of my
coffin".
The people who had gathered there wondered at the king's strange wishes. But
no one dared bring the question to their lips.. Alexander's favorite general
kissed his hand and pressed them to his heart.
"O king, we assure you that all your wishes will be fulfilled. But tell us
why do you make such strange wishes?"

At this Alexander took a deep breath and said:
"I would like the world to know of the three lessons I have just
learnt.

Lessons to be learnt from last 3 wishes of King
Alexander..
I want my physicians to carry my coffin because people should realize that
no doctor on this earth can really cure any body. They are powerless and
cannot save a person from the clutches of
death.

So let not people take life for granted.
The second wish of strewing gold, silver and other riches on the path to the
graveyard is to tell People that not even a fraction of gold will come with
me. I spent all my life Greed of Power, earning riches but cannot take
anything with me.

Let people realize that it is a sheer waste of time to chase
wealth.

And about my third wish of having my hands dangling out of the coffin, I
wish people to know that I came empty handed into this world and empty
handed I go out of this world".

With these words, the king closed his eyes

Soon he let death conquer him and breathed his last.

Sitting in the Geography class in school, I remember how fascinated I was
when we were being taught all about the Dead Sea.

As you probably recall, the Dead Sea is really a Lake, not a sea (and as
my Geography teacher pointed out, if you understood that, it would guarantee
4 marks in the term paper!)

Its so high in salt content that the human body can float easily. You can
almost lie down and read a book! The salt in the Dead Sea is as high as 35%
- almost 10
times the normal ocean water. And all that saltiness has meant that there is
no life at all in the Dead Sea. No fish. No vegetation. No sea animals.
Nothing
lives in the Dead sea.

And hence the name: Dead Sea.

While the Dead Sea has remained etched in my memory, I don't seem to
recall learning about the Sea of Galilee in my school Geography lesson. So
when I heard about the Sea of Galilee and the Dead Sea and the tale of the
two seas - I was intrigued.

Turns out that the Sea of Galilee is just north of the Dead Sea. Both the
Sea of Galilee and the Dead Sea receive their water from river Jordan. And
yet, they
are very, very different.

Unlike the Dead Sea, the Sea of Galilee is pretty, resplendent with
rich, colorful marine life. There are lots of plants. And lots of fish too.
In fact, the sea of Galilee is home to over twenty different types of
fishes.

Same region, same source of water, and yet while one sea is full of life,
the other is dead. How come?

Here apparently why. The River Jordan flows into the Sea of Galilee and
then flows out. The water simply passes through the Sea of Galilee in and
then out -
and that keeps the Sea healthy and vibrant, teeming with marine life.

But the Dead Sea is so far below the mean sea level, that it has no outlet.
The water flows in from the river Jordan, but does not flow out. There
are no outlet
streams. It is estimated that over 7 million tons of water evaporate from
the Dead Sea every day. Leaving it salty. Too full of minerals. And unfit
for any
marine life.

The Dead Sea takes water from the River Jordan, and holds it. It does not
give. Result? No life at all.

Think about it.

Life is not just about getting. Its about giving. We all need to be a bit
like the Sea of Galilee.

We are fortunate to get wealth, knowledge, love and respect. But if we
don't learn to give, we could all end up like the Dead Sea. The love and the
respect,
the wealth and the knowledge could all evaporate. Like the water in the
Dead Sea.

If we get the Dead Sea mentality of merely taking in more water, more
money, more everything the results can be disastrous.

Compounding is the Eighth Wonder of the World.

-----Albert Einstein

Good idea to make sure that in the sea of your own life, you have outlets.
Many outlets. For love and wealth - and everything else that you get in your
life.
Make sure you don't just get, you give too.

Open the taps. And you'll open the floodgates to happiness.

Make that a habit. To share. To give.

And experience life. Experience the magic!

In 1938, Karoly Takacs of the Hungarian Army, was the top pistol
shooter in the world. He was expected to win the gold in the 1940
Olympic Games scheduled for Tokyo.

Those expectations vanished one terrible day just months before the
Olympics. While training with his army squad, a hand grenade exploded
in Takacs’ right hand, and Takacs’ shooting hand was blown off.

Takacs spent a month in the hospital depressed at both the loss of his
hand, and the end to his Olympic dream. At that point most people
would have quit. And they would have probably spent the rest of their
life feeling sorry for themselves. Most people would have quit but not
Takacs. Takacs was a winner. Winners know that they can’t let
circumstances keep them down. They understand that life is hard and
that they can’t let life beat them down. Winners know in their heart
that quitting is not an option.

Takacs did the unthinkable; he picked himself up, dusted himself off,
and decided to learn how to shoot with his left hand! His reasoning
was simple. He simply asked himself, “Why not?”

Instead of focusing on what he didn’t have – a world class right
shooting hand, he decided to focus on what he did have – incredible
mental toughness, and a healthy left hand that with time, could be
developed to shoot like a champion.

For months Takacs practiced by himself. No one knew what he was doing.
Maybe he didn’t want to subject himself to people who most certainly
would have discouraged him from his rekindled dream.

In the spring of 1939 he showed up at the Hungarian National Pistol
Shooting Championship. Other shooters approached Takacs to give him
their condolences and to congratulate him on having the strength to
come watch them shoot. They were surprised when he said, “I didn’t
come to watch, I came to compete.” They were even more surprised when
Takacs won!

The 1940 and 1944 Olympics were cancelled because of World War II. It
looked like Takacs’ Olympic Dream would never have a chance to realize
itself. But Takacs kept training and in 1944 he qualified for the
London Olympics. At the age of 38, Takacs won the Gold Medal and set a
new world record in pistol shooting. Four years later, Takacs won the
Gold Medal again at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics. Takacs – a man with
the mental toughness to bounce back from anything.

Winners in every field have a special trait that helps them become
unstoppable. A special characteristic that allows them to survive
major setbacks on the road to success. Winners recover QUICKLY.
Bouncing back is not enough. Winners bounce back QUICKLY. They take
their hit, they experience their setback, they have the wind taken out
of their sails, but they immediately recover. Right away they FORCE
themselves to look at the bright side of things – ANY bright side, and
they say to themselves, “That’s OK. There is always a way. I will find
a way.” They dust themselves off, and pick up where they left off.

Next time you get knocked down, DECIDE you will act like a winner.
DECIDE to act like Takacs. Get up quickly, take action, and astound
the world!

There once was a little boy who had a bad temper. His Father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the back of the fence. The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeks, as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence. Finally the ! day came when the boy didn't lose his temper at all. He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper.

The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone. The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence He said, "You have done well, my son, but look at the*holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger,**they leave a scar just like this one. You can put a knife in a man and draw it out.It won't matter how many times you say "I'm sorry, the wound is still there. A verbal wound is as bad as a physical one.

* *

When he was two years old, this adopted child of two college professors
suddenly and inexplicably stopped growing, and his health started to fail. A
team of doctors gave him six months to live after they diagnosed him as
suffering from a rare disease that inhibits digestion and nutrients in food.
Intravenous feedings of vitamins and supplements allowed him to regain his
strength, but his growth was permanently stunted.

Confined to hospitals for long periods of time, until the age of nine, he
quietly plotted his revenge on the kids who taunted him and called him
“peanut.” He recalled many years later that subconsciously “the whole
experience made me want to succeed at something athletic.” Sometimes his
sister, Susan, went ice skating at the local rink, and he would go along to
watch. There he stood, a frail, undergrown kid, with a feeding tube inserted
through his nose and down into his stomach. When he wasn’t using it, one end
of the tube was taped behind his ear.

One day, as he watched his sister whirl around the ice, he turned to his
parents and said, “You know, I think I’d like to try ice skating.” Talk
about two adults, looking at their life-threatened child, with glances that
were beyond belief!

Well, he tried it and he loved it, and he went at it with a passion. Here
was something fun at which he could excel, where height and weight weren’t
important. During his medical checkup the following year, the doctors were
startled to discover that he had actually started growing again. It was too
late for him to reach normal size, but neither he nor his family cared. He
was recovering and succeeding. He believed in his dream, although he had
little else to hang on to.

None of the kids taunt him and tease him today. Instead, they all cheer and
rush to get his autograph. He has just completed another dazzling
performance on the world professional ice skating tour, with a long string
of triple jumps, complicated maneuvers, and athletic moves, capped off with
a racing front flip that brought him to a sudden stop inches from the
audience. Although he has retired from professional skating, he remains a
coach, mentor and commentator revered by everyone in winter sports.

At five feet three inches and 115 pounds of pure muscle and electrifying
energy, former Olympic gold medal figure skating champion Scott Hamilton
stands as tall and as proud as any winner*. Scott’s size didn’t limit his
faith and reach. Don’t let doubts and critics limit yours*. This doesn’t
mean that you’ll close almost every sale or get promoted in record time.
Scott Hamilton certainly didn’t hit every triple-axel jump he ever
attempted, especially during the initial learning phase. *Success in
developing any skill requires a basic trust in your ability that should
never be allowed to waver.*

*You can stand tall, no matter how small!*

-

*What would you do?....you make the choice. Don't look for a punch line,
there isn't one. Read it anyway. My question is: Would you have made the
same choice?
**
At a fundraising dinner for a school that serves children with learning
disabilities, the father of one of the students delivered a speech that
would never be forgotten by all who attended. After extolling the school and
its

Dedicated staff, he offered a question:

'When not interfered with by outside influences, everything nature does, is
done with perfection.

Yet my son, Shay, cannot learn things as other children do. He cannot
understand things as other children do.
**
Where is the natural order of things in my son?'
**
The audience was stilled by the query.
The father continued. 'I believe that when a child like Shay, who was
mentally and physically disabled comes into the world, an opportunity to
realize true human nature presents itself, and it comes in the way other
people treat that child.'

Then he told the following story:

Shay and I had walked past a park where some boys Shay knew were playing
baseball. Shay asked, 'Do you think they'll let me play?' I knew that most
of the boys would not want someone like Shay on their team, but as a father
I also understood that if my son were allowed to play, it would give him a
much-needed sense of belonging and some confidence to be accepted by others
in spite of his handicaps.
I approached one of the boys on the field and asked (not expecting much) if
Shay could play. The boy looked around for guidance and said, 'We're losing
by six runs and the game is in the eighth inning. I guess he can be on our
team and we'll try to put him in to bat in the ninth inning..'
Shay struggled over to the team's bench and, with a broad smile, put on a
team shirt.. I watched with a small tear in my eye and warmth in my heart.
The boys saw my joy at my son being accepted.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, Shay's team scored a few runs but was
still behind by three.

In the top of the ninth inning, Shay put on a glove and played in the right
field. Even though no hits came his way, he was obviously ecstatic just to
be in the game and on the field, grinning from ear to ear as I waved to him
from the stands.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, Shay's team scored again.

Now, with two outs and the bases loaded, the potential winning run was on
base and Shay was scheduled to be next at bat.
At this juncture, do they let Shay bat and give away their chance to win
the game?

Surprisingly, Shay was given the bat. Everyone knew that a hit was all but
impossible because Shay didn't even know how to hold the bat properly, much
less connect with the ball.

However, as Shay stepped up to the

Plate, the pitcher, recognizing that the other team was putting winning
aside for this moment in Shay's life, moved in a few steps to lob the ball
in softly so Shay could at least make contact.

The first pitch came and Shay swung clumsily and missed.

The pitcher again took a few steps forward to toss the ball softly towards
Shay.

As the pitch came in, Shay swung at the ball and hit a slow ground ball
right back to the pitcher.

The game would now be over.

The pitcher picked up the soft grounder and could have easily thrown the
ball to the first baseman.

Shay would have been out and that would have been the end of the game.

Instead, the pitcher threw the ball right over the first baseman's head,
out of reach of all team mates.

Everyone from the stands and both teams started yelling, 'Shay, run to
first!

Run to first!'

Never in his life had Shay ever run that far, but he made it to first base.

He scampered down the baseline, wide-eyed and startled.

Everyone yelled, 'Run to second, run to second!'

Catching his breath, Shay awkwardly ran towards second, gleaming and
struggling to make it to the base.

By the time Shay rounded towards second base, the right fielder had the
ball . The smallest guy on their team who now had his first chance to be the
hero for his team.

He could have thrown the ball to the second-baseman for the tag, but he
understood the pitcher's intentions so he, too, intentionally threw the ball
high and far over the third-baseman's head.

Shay ran toward third base deliriously as the runners ahead of him circled
the bases toward home.

All were screaming, 'Shay, Shay, Shay, all the Way Shay'

Shay reached third base because the opposing shortstop ran to help him by
turning him in the direction of third base, and shouted, 'Run to third!

Shay, run to third!'

As Shay rounded third, the boys from both teams, and the spectators, were
on their feet screaming, 'Shay, run home! Run home!'

Shay ran to home, stepped on the plate, and was cheered as the hero who hit
the grand slam and won the game for his team

'That day', said the father softly with tears now rolling down his face,
'the boys from both teams helped bring a piece of true love and humanity
into this world'.

Shay didn't make it to another summer. He died that winter, having never
forgotten being the hero and making me so happy, and coming home and seeing
his Mother tearfully embrace her little hero of the day!

AND NOW A LITTLE FOOT NOTE TO THIS STORY:

We all send thousands of jokes through the e-mail without a second thought,
but when it comes to sending messages about life choices, people hesitate.

The crude, vulgar, and often obscene pass freely through cyberspace, but
public discussion about decency is too often suppressed in our schools and
workplaces.
**

If you're thinking about forwarding this message, chances are that you're
probably sorting out the people in your address book who aren't the
'appropriate' ones to receive this type of message Well, the person who sent
you this believes that we all can make a difference.
**
We all have thousands of opportunities every single day to help realize the
'natural order of things.'

So many seemingly trivial interactions between two people present us with a
choice:

Do we pass along a little spark of love and humanity or do we pass up those
opportunities and leave the world a little bit colder in the process?

A wise man once said every society is judged by how it treats it's least
fortunate amongst them.

You now have two choices:

1. Delete

2. Forward
May your day, be a Shay Day.*

*MAY GOD BLESS EVERYONE WHO*

*DECIDES TO PASS THIS ON IN* *MEMORY OF SHAY..............*

Amazing True Story

This is a true story that had happened in 1892 at Stanford University. It's
moral is still relevant today.

A young, 18 year old student was struggling to pay his fees. He was an
orphan, and not knowing where to turn for money, he came up with a bright
idea. A friend and he decided to host a musical concert on campus to raise
money for their education.
They reached out to the great pianist Ignacy
J. Paderewski. His manager demanded a guaranteed fee of $2,000 for the piano recital. A deal
was struck. And the boys began to work to make the concert a success. The
big day arrived. Paderewski performed at Stanford. But unfortunately, they
had not managed to sell enough tickets.

The total collection was only $1,600. Disappointed, they went to
Paderewski and explained their plight. They gave him the entire $1,600,
plus a cheque for the balance of $400. They promised to honour the cheque
soonest possible."No" said Paderewski. "This is not acceptable" He tore up
the cheque, returned the $1,600 and told the boys "Here's the $1,600.
Please deduct whatever expenses you have incurred. Keep the money you need
for your fees. And just give me whatever is left" The boys were surprised,
and thanked him profusely.

It was a small act of kindness. But it clearly marked out Paderewski as a
great human being. Why should he help two people he did not even know? We
all come across situations like these in our lives. And most of us only
think "If I help them, what would happen to me?" The truly great people
think, "If I don't help them, what will happen to them?" They don't do it
expecting something in return. They do it because they feel it's the right
thing to do.

Paderewski later went on to become the Prime Minister of Poland. He was a
great leader, but unfortunately when the World War began, Poland was
ravaged. There were over 1.5 million people starving in his country, and no
money to feed them. Paderewski did not know where to turn for help. He
reached out to the US Food and Relief Administration for help.

The head was a man called Herbert
Hoover -who later went on to become the 31st President
of the United States. Hoover agreed to help and quickly shipped tons of
food grains to fee the starving Polish people. A calamity was averted.
Paderewski was relieved. He decided to go across to meet Hoover and
personally thank him. When Paderewski began to thank Hoover for his noble
gesture, Hoover quickly interjected and said,

*"You shouldn't be thanking me, Mr. Prime Minister. You may not remember
this, but several years ago, you helped two young students go through
college in the US. I was one of them."*

*The world is a wonderful place. .*
