Billionaire investor Warren Buffett, who told investors earlier this month that he had made a “mistake” betting on airlines, is continuing to sell stocks amid the coronavirus pandemic, the latest regulatory filing from Berkshire Hathaway shows.

Buffett has remained relatively quiet during the coronavirus market downturn: Rather than make any “elephant-sized” acquisitions, he’s trimmed Berkshire’s holdings—mostly banks and airlines so far—and grown its cash pile to $137 billion.
The Oracle of Omaha’s biggest recent move was to sell off most 84% of his stake in Goldman Sachs, a longtime holding which he famously invested $5 billion into during the 2008 financial crisis.
Buffett decreased his stake in Goldman, which saw its stock plunge over 30% in the first quarter, from over 12 million shares to just under two million; His remaining investment is valued at around $330 million, Berkshire’s filing shows.
Berkshire Hathaway cut its stake in another bank, JPMorgan Chase & Co., by 3% in the first quarter, while also fully exiting positions in insurance giant Travelers and energy company Phillips 66.

A super-villain origin story unlike any other told in cinematic history, this uncomfortably voyeuristic look at the Joker’s rise to power in Gotham City creates empathy for the mentally unstable criminal who would go on to become Batman’s greatest nemesis. Joker follows Arthur Fleck (played by Phoenix) from his early meandering days in a politically unstable environment to his prominence amongst the oppressed people of Gotham City.

The film comes from director Todd Phillips, who made the leap from raunchy comedy (his filmography includes films like Old School, The Hangover series and War Dogs) to psychological drama. The transition netted Phillips his first Academy Award nominations in 13 years, including Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay.

Previous to Joker, Phoenix had received three Academy Award nominations—one for Best Supporting Actor (for Gladiator) and two for Best Actor (The Master and Walk the Line). This past February, Phoenix’s strange acceptance speech for his performance in Joker notably “broke the internet.”

Joker will be available to stream tonight after it premieres on HBO at 8 p.m. EST.

Fred Willard, Comic Actor Who Thrived in Ensembles, Dies at 86

Fred Willard, the Emmy Award-nominated comic actor best known for his scene-stealing roles in Christopher Guest ensemble comedies like “Best in Show” and “Waiting for Guffman,” died on Friday at his home in Los Angeles. He was 86.

Mike Eisenstadt, Mr. Willard’s agent, confirmed the death.

Mr. Willard played Frank Dunphy, the father of Ty Burrell’s Phil Dunphy, on the ABC sitcom “Modern Family.” In 2010, his performance earned him an Emmy nomination for outstanding guest actor in a comedy. Mr. Willard’s character died of old age in the show’s final season, which ended last month.

It was his fourth Emmy nomination. He had been nominated in the same category in 2003, 2004 and 2005, for his role as Hank, the father of the Ray Romano character’s sister-in-law, on the CBS sitcom “Everybody Loves Raymond.” In 2015, Mr. Willard won a Daytime Emmy for outstanding guest performer for his work on the CBS soap opera “The Bold and the Beautiful.”

carryMinati aka Ajey Nagar is one of the most famous YouTubers in India. With over 16.7 million followers on the app, CarryMinati's claim to fame is his roast videos that are loved by his followers. However, his latest roast video, YouTube Vs TikTok: The End, got him into a little bit of trouble.

The video that was a roast targeted towards the TikTok celebrity Amir Siddiqui broke the internet and went crazy viral. CarryMinati's video garnered over 7 million views within a week making it his most famous video. However, the video was removed from YouTube for violating the Terms of Service.

This whole thing started, when Amir, who has 3.7 million followers on TikTok, released an IGTV video criticising India's YouTube community. As a response CarryMinati released his roast video which became an instant hit and Amir started a campaign against cyberbullying. As a result the video was removed from YouTube.

NEW DELHI: Video sharing platform YouTube has taken down Carryminati's 13-min roast video with the title 'TikTok Vs YouTube: The End' saying it violated its terms of service. The video had over 70 million views reportedly and over 10 million likes before it was pulled down.

Shortly after the video was taken down, #CarryMinati and #JusticeForCarry started trending online. “It was just a fun roast, @CarryMinati. Everything else aside, I’m rooting for you. Keep the good content coming in buddy,” actor Himansh Kohli wrote on Twitter. “I know people, this is very disappointing and a shocker,” another YouTuber, Ashish Chanchlani wrote on Twitter.

"Deep down everyone will remember that yours was/will be the most liked YT video ever. We love you," wrote comedian Bhuwan Bam.

Carryminati on Saturday released a statement where he wrote that it was hard to accept that "the video will remain banned and won’t be restored". He stated how the video broke numerous records.

Calling it a "disappointing situation", he said that "biggest achievements become an easy target to pull down". He concluded his statement by conveying his gratitude to his fans for standing up and supporting him.

Originally set for a May 15 theatrical release but now cast into the streaming ocean due to the coronavirus pandemic, “Scoob!” is a goofy and bright surprise — an imaginative reboot that respects its shaggy dog TV roots but is smart enough to add dashes, not shovelfuls, of wry pop-culture and movie references.

While DreamWorks Animation’s “Trolls: World Tour” generated the most advanced buzz — heralded as the first big-budget film to abandon its theatrical release and embrace the streaming route in the COVID-19 era — “Scoob!” is a better film, with its eye-candy animation, sly script and, best of all, a hilarious vocal performance from Lafayette native Will Forte as the boy-man Shaggy. Forte even rivals Matthew Lillard’s scene-stealing take of dog’s best friend in the 2002 live action “Scooby-Doo” dud. Forte perfects Shaggy’s crackly puberty voice.

“Scoob!” reunites us with the Mystery Machine crew, including the courageous but rather dim Fred (Zac Efron), the charming but not very street-smart Daphne (Amanda Seyfried) and the brainy outsider Velma (Gina Rodriguez). Here, they part ways with Shaggy and Scooby (Frank Welker) due to a harsh business consultation with Simon Cowell. Yes, that Simon (voiced by the real Simon Cowell, no less); the coy animated team even give him an unbuttoned white shirt and chest hair.

Dejected, Shaggy and Scooby wind up at a bowling alley where they contend with evil minions of bowling balls (you have to see it to understand it) commanded under the mustachioed Dick Dastardly (Jason Isaacs, having a heyday). The McGuffin here is a collection of statues of the mythical three-headed dog Cerberus. Dastardly is out to gather those noggins for a no-good reason. Trying to muzzle those plans and help the Mystery Machine crew are the vain, Instagramming superhero Blue Falcon (Mark Wahlberg), his robotic dog Dynomutt (Ken Jeong) and his brainy sidekick Dee Dee Skyes (Kiersey Clemons).

OK, it sounds as if a doobie or six might have been shared while the four screenwriters — Matt Lieberman, Adam Sztykiel, Jack Donaldson and Derek Elliott — concocted this plot, but there are clever lines to spare and director Tony Cervone understands how to balance the irreverence and the reverence. That means he accommodates “Scooby-Doo” purists by delivering all the things they expect — including the surprise “bad guy” at the end — but with tongue firmly in cheek.

This knack for toying with Scooby-Doo fans while giving them exactly what they want, while staying affectionately true to the original characters, is what makes “Scoob!” a cut above the “Scooby!” movies that came before it. You could say it’s the pick of the litter.

China's coronavirus city Wuhan has announced plans to resume 100 passenger trains from April 8 even as the city officials on Friday asked its residents to stay at home and avoid non-essential outings amid fears of a possible rebound of the disease due to the steady rise in the asymptomatic cases.

Wuhan will resume operation of nearly 100 passenger trains starting April 8, state-run Xinhua news agency quoted local railway officials on Friday.

China has already announced plans to resume air services from Wuhan from April 8.The trains that will resume services include those departing from Wuhan to cities including Shanghai, Shenzhen and Hangzhou, as well as to other cities in parts of Hubei Province.

Significantly, the plans to resume largescale train operations came as Wuhan local government issued a notice Friday, asking its residents to stay at home and avoid non-essential outings amid fears of a possible rebound of the disease due to the steady rise in the asymptomatic cases, days after the nine-week lockdown was relaxed in the city.

Asymptomatic coronavirus cases are those who test positive for the virus but do not show any symptom and have the potential to cause sporadic clusters of infections.

China on March 25 downgraded the risk level of the coronavirus in its epicentre Wuhan from high to medium and resumed bus services within the city for the first time since the three-month lockdown.

Currently, there are 1,075 asymptomatic patients under medical observation in the Chinese mainland.

Though no new locally transmitted coronavirus cases were reported in Hubei and its capital Wuhan on Thursday, local health officials said 51 asymptomatic COVID-19 cases were detected, bringing the total to 742, all of whom have been put under medical observation.

According to official media reports, China also plans to test the over 11 million population of Wuhan as asymptomatic cases are being reported for the first time by Chinese officials since Wednesday, amidst international criticism casting doubts over China''s officials figures of the coronavirus.

The local government of Wuhan, in a notice, asked the city's residential communities to continue closed-off management of residents' movements ensuring that their temperatures are checked and they wear masks, Xinhua news agency reported.

The notice warned against slackening vigilance amid the increased flow of people and influx of non-locals.

Wuhan, which has been sealed off since January 23 to contain the epidemic, is expected to lift outbound travel restrictions on April 8.

The city's public transportation has partly resumed services, and there are visibly more pedestrians and vehicles on the roads.

The advice for Wuhan residents to stay at home follows concerns at the top leadership of the ruling Communist Party of China (CPC) of a second wave of infections.

Under criticism from the international community for acting late to contain COVID-19 which broke out in December last year, the CPC leadership appeared keen to avert a rebound even as it gradually opened the province and the country to return to normalcy.

The leading group of officials headed by Premier Li Keqiang on Thursday called for enhanced management of asymptomatic cases through measures from screening, reporting, quarantine, to medical intervention, the management of close contacts, and daily information release, an official press release said.

Wuhan authorities are studying whether the government should test all residents to find asymptomatic COVID-19 carriers amid public worry over a second outbreak, the daily's report said.

Two RAF Typhoons roared over Belfast this morning to mark the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe.

VE Day, as it is known, is short for Victory in Europe Day.

It is a celebration of the Allied forces' formal acceptance of Nazi Germany's surrender on Tuesday, 8 May 1945.

The two jets, which are believed to have been flown by NI pilots, sped over city landmarks like Titanic, Obel Tower and the film studios where Game of Thrones was filmed.

The usual planned events for VE Day across the country were cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, meaning events had to be adapted. Members of the public in lockdown have instead being encouraged to celebrate the end of World War II in Europe from their gardens, doorsteps and living rooms.

In a video posted on twitter today, Prime Minister Boris Johnson urged the nation to unite in tribute to celebrate the achievement and remember the sacrifice of the wartime generation.

To mark the anniversary, the Red Arrows performed a flypast over London while RAF Typhoon jets were seen over Edinburgh, Cardiff and Belfast at 10am.

A number of Edinburgh residents caught a glimpse of the flypast this morning.

Among them was Adam Leyton, who photographed the aircraft above the home of Scottish rugby, BT Murrayfield stadium.

Another, Paul Rennie, said: “Watching an RAF Typhoon fly over my house and I got a lump in my throat.”

Gillian Welch was away from home one Mother’s Day in the early part of the 2000s when she was struck by a desire to sing for her mom. She wrote a new song, appropriately titled “Happy Mother’s Day,” and called her mother to play it into the answering machine.

On Friday, ahead of Sunday’s holiday, she releases the original demo recording, captured on a reel-to-reel. It’s a short but undeniably sweet song, with the folksinger-songwriter crooning in a nursery rhyme cadence: “Oh mama, I hope you know that I always love you so/not just the one day when we all say/happy happy Mother’s Day.”

Welch is releasing the song via Acony Records, the indie label she and David Rawlings launched in 2001.

“We can’t always be with the ones we love, but that can’t stop us from saying ‘I love you,’” Welch says in a statement. “I wrote this song one May when I was far away and couldn’t be with my mom on Mother’s Day. What are 'Murder Hornets' and should I be worried? Asian giant hornets spotted in the US

An invasive hornet species slaughters honeybees, can be deadly to humans and –unfortunately – has been spotted in the United States.

A small number of Asian giant hornet sightings in the Pacific Northwest has raised alarm after a nickname for the predators started trending on Twitter Saturday: "Murder Hornet." While experts have been tracking the invasive species in the U.S. for months, a New York Times feature published Saturday brought nickname to the national consciousness.

It's a fittingly upsetting nickname, based on a lengthy March presentation from Washington State Department of Agriculture entomologist Chris Looney. It opened with a slide listing other ominous titles for the the largest hornet in the world: "yak killer hornet" and "giant sparrow bee" among them.

This spring, the Washington state Department of Agriculture started hunting for Asian giant hornets after two confirmed sightings of the predator.

And while officials are concerned, especially for local honeybee populations, the danger to the average person is low at this time Looney, confirmed to USA TODAY Saturday.

The hornets are "probably not going to murder someone ... don’t panic," Looney said.

Sightings have been limited to the Pacific Northwest, although the smaller European hornet is sometimes mistaken for the Asian giant hornet on the East Coast.

For humans unfortunate enough come in contact with an Asian giant hornet, Looney had simple advice in his March presentation: "Just run away."

The predators kill between 40 and 50 people annually in Japan – many victims suffer from allergies, but some have died from the potency of the venom alone, he said.

Rare complications can include localized necrosis, respiratory failure, kidney failure, liver damage and blood clots.

But the more immediate danger in the United States is to an already vulnerable honeybee population.

Looney described a lifecycle where Asian giant hornets attack individual honeybees in the early summer – turning prey into a "meatball" to feed to hornet larvae. Soon, the hornets abandon this "hunting phase" in favor of the “slaughter phase” – the wholesale killing of bee colonies so the hornets can plunder their hives.

Efforts to contain the spread of the hornets, which prey on virtually any insect in addition to honeybees, have been ramping up in recent weeks, Looney said Saturday.

One thing local residents can do to help: Report suspected sightings to the Washington State Department of Agriculture.

After Andy Dalton was released from the Cincinnati Bengals after they drafted Joe Burrow with the No. 1 overall pick, many expected the former TCU star to seek a team where he would have a great chance to start. Not so fast.

Enter the Dallas Cowboys, who locked up Dalton to a one-year deal on Saturday night. Dallas currently employs Dak Prescott, whose long term contract negotiations are the subject of a long and heated battle.

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport released the contract details of Dalton’s free agent deal with “America’s Team.”

“From last night: More on the #Cowboys signing QB Andy Dalton to a 1-year, $3M base value deal that is worth a max of $7M with incentives,” Rapoport tweeted.

Prior to Dalton, the quarterbacks backing up Prescott were Cooper Rush and Clayton Thorson. Bringing in Dalton provides quality depth in the event of an injury to the former Mississippi State star.

On the surface, it is a curious decision for both sides. Since it is only a one year deal, Dalton can hit free agency in 2021 and have a better chance to sign elsewhere to become a starter again. But, going to the Cowboys means he will sit the bench since the team is committed to Prescott.

However, signing Dalton, from Prescott’s perspective is an interesting choice since his contract has not been extended yet. The subject of Prescott’s contract is an ongoing saga that many debated whether or not he deserved to be the highest paid quarterback. After the extension of fellow NFC East quarterback Carson Wentz (Philadelphia Eagles), it appeared the market was set for Prescott, who asked for more money.

Former Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant is in the camp of Prescott, saying the Cowboys were out of line to give a free agent contract to Dalton while still negotiating with Prescott.

“Nothing against Andy Dalton because I think he’s a great player..but the cowboys are extremely out of line...” Bryant tweeted. “Pay Dak... I watched the cowboys pay Tony Twice once without a winning rec... I guess the cowboys viewing the QB position a plug in piece because of the dominant offense.”

Bryant added that he thinks the Cowboys offense can be successful regardless of who is at the helm because of the weapons surrounding the quarterback, but he believes Prescott has done more than enough to earn a long-term deal.

“The cowboys offense can be special... you can place anybody in that offense if they screw up with that much talent on the field they don’t deserve to play QB.. But Dak is the guy for the position... he earned that…

“I really never seen a QB have to hold out for what is rightfully owed to him....you don’t make your leader and the face of the franchise feel some type of way.”

Dez Bryant blasts Cowboys for Andy Dalton deal: 'Extremely out of line'

The Dallas Cowboys made NFL waves on Saturday night when it was reported that the team had come to an agreement for a one-year deal with quarterback Andy Dalton.

Dalton, who will presumably back up Dak Prescott, will make $3 million in base salary with up to $7 million factoring in incentives, per USA TODAY Sports’ Mike Jones.

The internet went wild with the news, not only because the internet always goes wild with Cowboys news, but because team owner/GM Jerry Jones was able to get a contract done with Dalton, but hasn’t been able to do so with his starting QB Prescott yet.

Pundits immediately started speculating that Dalton’s signing was a way of possibly getting leverage over Prescott in contract negotiations. Others argued that Dalton is a Texas native, a good backup available, and the Cowboys were simply making a football decision.

Regardless, former Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant took to Twitter to voice his concerns about the deal, and the message it sent to Prescott.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday asked states to try to convert the Covid-19 challenge into opportunities through administrative reforms, and form their own policies on relaxing the lockdown based on ground reality.

The announcement comes on what was to be the last day of the initial lockdown, which began on 25 March.

“I salute all you citizens,” Mr Modi said in a televised address, thanking Indians for their support in the fight against the virus.

India has reported 8,988 active cases and 339 deaths so far.

Under the lockdown, only essential businesses - such as groceries and pharmacies - are allowed to remain open. City transport services are limited to emergency staff and those with special travel passes. All trains and flights have been suspended.

A final decision on lockdown will be taken during the weekend, officials said on Monday after the meeting on the strategy to fight the coronavirus pandemic.

didn’t want the part. I didn’t care about the film. The story didn’t interest me. My agent, who also represented Tom Cruise, basically tortured me into at least meeting Tony Scott, saying he was one of the hottest directors in town and I could never afford to not meet with as many of them as possible, and also he was completely obsessed with me. Well, an agent doesn’t have to offer any other reasons when “the director is completely obsessed with you” comes out of their mouth.

I showed up at the audition because that’s what actors do when they’re asked to audition. I showed up looking the fool, or the goon. I wore oversize gonky Australian shorts in nausea green. I read the lines indifferently. And yet, amazingly, I was told I had the part. I felt more deflated than inflated. I had to get out of there.

The moment I got into the elevator, the director ran after me and slid his arm in to block the door. He blurted his truth in his chipper British accent: “I know that the script is insufficient, but it will get better, Val. Wait until you see these jets. They take your breath away.”

He then proceeded to imitate aircraft sounds and motions as if we were six years old and as if there were no one else in the hallway. “I know you’ve been told this before, I know you’re a serious actor, but you are perfect for this role. It’s as if they wrote it for you. It has to be you. It’s not the lead, but I’m going to make you feel like it is. And this kid we found, Tom Cruise, he has it, man, and you two together, and Kelly McGillis—you know her from Juilliard, she’s nine feet tall and utter perfection.”

He was a wrecking ball to my consciousness. I had never before been treated with such passion. I was so accustomed to giving passion, less familiar with receiving it.

Side note: I once flew to London when I couldn’t afford a ham sandwich to sit in a hotel room with a single videotape in hopes of hand-delivering it to Stanley Kubrick. Eventually I befriended one of his “people,” who told me after my forty-eighth phone call in one week, “I’m sorry, Val. He really liked the last video you did. I am not supposed to say this, but he’s really interested. In fact, we have stopped pre-production because of that last video. But he won’t see you. He just doesn’t work like that.”

Self-taping was new at the time, and Kubrick must have been enchanted with it. I got it. I was enchanted myself and had been shooting me and my friends since I could get my hands on a magical machine of my own. But Kubrick’s stubbornness sent me home, deflated.

Tony Scott’s British enthusiasm was the pick-me-up my ego craved. He was ferocious and hilarious. We both had penchants for fishermen’s vests. His was primly packed with pens, folded paper, and cigars, plus a monocle cinematographers use to examine the sun. Now video cameras adjust to let you film through the night, but it wasn’t like that back then.

Tony loved the process, loved the energy of the set, loved the characters. Everything was fuel to Tony. Every time a jet took off, Tony swooned. I threw lines away. He would jump for joy. Ultimately, he overwhelmed my disdain for the project with pure unadulterated positivity. Every day he would exclaim, “This is incredible! This is beautiful! This is beyond belief. You guys are going to be kings.” Off set, the actors broke into two camps—mine and Tom’s, a reflection of the rivalry between our two characters. In the film, I was Iceman and Tom was Maverick. I commanded my camp because I had a tricked-out van.

The mass closure of restaurants has led to a national oversupply of green beans. Americans apparently don’t eat as many fresh green vegetables when they eat at home. And even if people do want more green beans to cook at home, producers also have difficulty switching on a dime from serving the commercial market to serving the retail market. But at least farmers with too many green beans don’t have to pay someone to take their excess green beans. They don’t even have to pay someone to pick the green beans. They can just plow them back into the soil, plant again, and hope somebody will want to buy green beans in a few months. For this reason, the price of green beans cannot go below $0.

But what do you do if nobody wants the crude oil that comes out of your oil well? You can’t just dump it on the ground or pour it in a river or burn it; the EPA wouldn’t take kindly to that. You also generally can’t just turn the well off if you want the option to get oil from it in the future; oil wells are expensive to drill and you think prices will be positive again in the future, so you don’t want to lose the well. But in the meantime, oil is going to keep coming out of the well and you are going to have to get someone to take it off your hands, even if that means paying someone to do it. That’s why the price of crude oil can go below $0, at least for some period of time.

On Monday, the price of West Texas Intermediate oil futures for delivery in May fell to -$37 per barrel. You should not read too much into this as an indicator of ongoing prices for crude oil, let alone gasoline. Tuesday is the last day to trade the WTI futures contract for oil to be delivered in May, and if you get stuck holding an oil futures contract after trading in it ends, you may be obligated to actually take delivery of actual crude oil — so investors who aren’t actually in refining or other oil-consuming fields have to get rid of their contracts, and that has led to some screwy activity in a market with thin trading. The futures contract for June, trading around $17 per barrel as of 6:45am Tuesday, may be a better indication of the sort of crude oil prices we can expect to see in the next few weeks — positive, but far below pre-crisis levels. The June futures contract had been trading above $50 a barrel as recently as February 26.

You might be wondering: If crude oil is essentially free right now and expected to still be very cheap in June, why am I still paying $2 per gallon for gasoline? There are a couple of answers to this. One is that you can’t put crude oil in your gas tank. You need a refiner to make gasoline from the crude oil, and oil refiners have cut their production. Some refineries have closed entirely. (This disconnect — refiners shrinking production while extractors continue to produce — is why charges for oil storage have skyrocketed and market participants are worried about running out of places to put crude oil.) The other factor has to do with the operations of gas stations. They are able to buy gasoline much more cheaply at wholesale than they could a couple of months ago, but they are also selling much less volume of gasoline. As such, they need a higher markup per gallon to cover their non-fuel costs than they used to, and average retail gasoline prices are only down 97 cents per gallon from a year earlier, even with wholesale prices down $1.51.

Normally, falling crude oil prices provide benefits to consumers that go a long way to offset the economic costs from lower income to oil company owners and workers. But it’s not obvious when and how much you will get to enjoy any benefit from this price crash. You’re not driving much now. And in the medium term, oil producers will cut back on production. When the economy gets going again, they will be slow to start production back up, in the same way they are slow to shut it down right now. Market participants expect oil prices next year to be over $30 a barrel — which means as the economy restarts, you should be able to enjoy lower gas prices than you saw in 2019. When gas stations have a normal volume of customers, they will face more pressure to pass fuel cost cuts onto them. But if and when the economy gets back to roaring, the bust for oil producers in the current crash should lead to a more constrained supply. That could push prices up.

Citing President Trump's guidelines for Opening Up America Again, released last week, Gov. Brian Kemp announced at a news conference Monday steps to reopen Georgia's economy, starting this Friday.

Kemp said "favorable data, enhanced testing and approval of our health care professionals" motivated him to reopen some businesses in the next week. Georgia is on track to meet Phase 1 criteria as recommended by the White House's coronavirus task force, according to the governor. Kemp cited Department of Public Health reports that emergency room visits of people with flu-like symptoms are declining and that documented COVID-19 cases have flattened.

But according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University, the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in Georgia and number of deaths attributed to the virus there, have been steadily increasing in the last month.

Employees at "gyms, fitness centers, bowling alleys, body art studios," as well as "barbers, cosmetologists, hair designers, nail care artists, estheticians, their respective schools & massage therapists," will be allowed to return to work on Friday but will have to operate under restrictions.

The mandatory conditions at the workplaces include social distancing, enhanced cleanings, screening workers for fevers and respiratory illness, wearing gloves and a mask if appropriate, moving workplaces 6 feet apart, staggering work shifts and, if possible, teleworking.

Free Fall: Oil Prices Go Negative

Kemp said in a tweet that bars, nightclubs, amusement parks and performance venues will continue to stay closed under shelter-in-place orders.

According to Georgia Department of Public Health data, 60 more people died from the virus over the last weekend. For most Georgia residents, the state's shelter-in-place orders are set to expire on April 30.

In addition to Georgia's orders, the governors of Tennessee and Pennsylvania Monday announced a loosening of state restrictions as well.

Tennessee's stay at home will expire on April 30, Gov. Bill Lee announced. His state will begin a "phased reopening" next week, after citing the state's 17 consecutive days of "only single-digit increases in the number of cases."

"The vast majority of businesses in 89 of Tennessee's 95 counties will be allowed to re-open May 1, with some slated to reopen April 27," the state announced.

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf, a Democrat, signed an executive order, extending the stay at home order in his state by more than a week. The previous order was set to expire on April 30.

But beginning at 12:01 a.m. on May 8 some portions of the economy will be allowed to resume, most notably construction projects across the state. His order will also allow for the online sale of vehicles and allow residents to pick up wine and spirit purchases curbside at certain state liquor control board locations.

(CNN)-The US is monitoring intelligence that suggests North Korea's leader, Kim Jong Un, is in grave danger after undergoing a previous surgery, according to a US official with direct knowledge.

A second source familiar with the intelligence told CNN that the US has been closely monitoring reports on Kim's health.

Kim recently missed the celebration of his grandfather's birthday on April 15, which raised speculation about his well-being. He had been seen four days before that at a government meeting.

Another US official told CNN Monday that the concerns about Kim's health are credible but the severity is hard to assess.

Daily NK, an online newspaper based in South Korea that focuses on North Korea, reports that Kim reportedly received a cardiovascular system procedure on April 12.

Kim received the cardiovascular system procedure because of "excessive smoking, obesity, and overwork," according to the news site, and is now receiving treatment in a villa in Hyangsan County following his procedure.

After assessing that Kim's condition had improved, most of the medical team treating him returned to Pyongyang on April 19 and only part of them remained to oversee his recovery situation, according to the news site. CNN is unable to independently confirm the report.

A South Korean source told CNN Monday that the country's top leaders are very much aware of reports about Kim's health status but cannot independently verify details published by Daily NK. The source acknowledged that Kim's issues related to weight and smoking are well known but made clear they are waiting for more information.

South Korea's Presidential Blue House said in a statement provided to reporters that they have nothing to confirm on reports about Kim's health and that "no unusual signs" have been detected inside North Korea.

South Korea's Unification Ministry and Defense Ministry have given a "no comment."

National Security Adviser Robert O'Brien said the US is "keeping a close eye" on reports about Kim's health.

"We're monitoring these reports very closely," O'Brien said during an interview with Fox News Tuesday. "As you know, North Korea is a very closed society," he said.

The National Security Council and Office of the Director of National Intelligence declined to comment when reached by CNN on Monday. CNN has also reached out to the CIA and the State Department for comment.

In the meantime, US officials have been reaching out to North Korean experts -- particularly those who have studied the Kim regime -- to talk about contingency planning, a third source familiar with the communications told CNN.

Still, the situation remains murky as gathering intelligence out of North Korea is notoriously difficult -- one of the most challenging targets for US intelligence.

North Korea tightly controls any information surrounding its leader, who is treated almost like a deity within the country. His absences from official state media often spark speculation and rumors about his health. North Korea has no free press and is often a black hole when it comes to the country's leadership. Analysts are heavily reliant on scanning state media dispatches and watching propaganda videos for any semblance of a clue.

Kim last appeared in North Korean state media on April 11. April 15 -- North Korea's most important holiday, the anniversary of the birth of the country's founding father, Kim Il Sung -- came and went without any official mention of Kim Jong Un's movements.

Experts are unsure of what to make of Kim's absence from any festivities celebrating his grandfather. When North Korean leaders have not shown up to these important celebrations in the past, it has portended major developments. But it has also turned out to be nothing.

"There have been a number of recent rumors about Kim's health (smoking, heart, and brain). If Kim is hospitalized, it would explain why he wasn't present on the important April 15th celebrations," said Bruce Klingner, a senior research fellow at the Heritage Foundation and former CIA deputy division chief for North Korea. "But, over the years, there have been a number of false health rumors about Kim Jong-un or his father. We'll have to wait and see."

Kim Jong Il's absence from a parade celebrating North Korea's 60th anniversary in 2008 was followed by rumblings that he was in poor health. It was later revealed he had a stroke, after which his health continued to decline until his death in 2011.

Kim Jong Un disappeared from the public eye for more than a month in 2014, which also prompted speculation about his health. He returned sporting a cane, and days later South Korean intelligence said that he had a cyst removed from his ankle.

"It's easy to be wrong on this one," said John Delury, a professor of international relations at Yonsei University in Seoul.

Still, with concerns about Kim's health mounting, the state of US-South Korean relations has US officials worried, sources tell CNN.

On Monday, President Donald Trump said the two countries have a "great relationship," but added he wants them to pay more for the US presence in the country. The two countries have missed multiple deadlines for those negotiations. And now in-person negotiations are hindered because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Universal Tests the Bounds of Premium On-Demand With 'Trolls' Sequel

Beginning Friday, the animated movie was available to rent in the home for $19.99 after the studio decided to break the theatrical window.

"World premiere. Stream from home!" So trumpeted Fandango's homepage on Friday in touting Universal and DreamWorks Animation's Trolls World Tour, which is defying tradition in launching on premium VOD and a smattering of theaters that remain open.

Universal is hoping the test will help answer the question of how much consumers are willing to pay to watch a high-profile new movie in the home. The release of almost every other Hollywood spring and early summer title has been delayed amid the novel coronavirus pandemic and resulting theater closures, but Universal opted to stick to Troll's April 10 Easter weekend release and make the film available to rent in the home for 48 hours for $19.99 (it will also be made available to 25 or so U.S. drive-ins and any cinemas still in operation overseas.)

Theater owner have denounced Universal's decision to break the theatrical window, arguing that a film's home entertainment potential is based on a high-profile run in theaters that generally lasts three months. But some Wall Street analysts aren't as quick to judge.

"You have hundreds of millions of families stuck at home. I don't know if a new title would work on a weekly basis, but I actually think Trolls will surprise people in terms of how well it does," says media and entertainment analyst Richard Greenfield of LightShed Partners.

Unlike box office grosses, home entertainment numbers for individual titles aren't disclosed. It isn't yet clear whether Universal will share any information it collects in the coming days.

The first Trolls opened to $46.6 million domestically in October 2016 on its way to earning $346.9 million globally. Greenfield calculates that Universal, which splits grosses with cinema owners, received back about $190 million of that in theatrical rentals. "That would equal fewer than 10 million pay-per-view hits for Trolls World Tour," he concludes.

Greenfield adds that cable giant Comcast, which owns NBCUniversal, reaches 20 million homes alone. Overseas, Comcast also owns Sky, whose subscriber count is 30 million homes. And rival platforms such as Apple Movies and Amazon Prime are also pushing Trolls in a major way.

A premium VOD play would be far more difficult in terms of economics for tentpoles relying on mega-grosses, such as a Star Wars movie or even Disney's Mulan, says Greenfield.

But the Trolls franchise — voiced by Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick — is a different proposition. The first Trolls cost around $125 million to produce before marketing, while the sequel cost closer to $100 million after tax incentives and rebates.

The other Hollywood movie that will now go straight to digital is Disney's Artemis Fowl, which cost in the same range as Trolls and is headed for Disney+ (it had been set to hit theaters at the end of May).

Universal insiders say it ultimately didn't make sense to delay the release of Trolls World Tour, since the marketing campaign was in full swing when the pandemic hit, including brand and merchandising partnerships.

They add that home entertainment isn't an economic stand-in for theatrical, but that it could prove beneficial in the future to shorten the window so that there can be one campaign for both theatrical and home entertainment. As it stands now, the traditional window is roughly three months.

"I look at this as an incredible opportunity to be able to offer joy and happiness for 80 minutes," Trolls World Tour director Walt Dohrn tells The Hollywood Reporter.

"This is an opportunity to reach more people. The other option was pushing the release date, but everything would be out-of-balance and crowded. This just felt like the right thing to do," Dohrn continues. "If we took ourselves out of this unprecedented situation, there might even be room for both."

Universal has wanted to shrink the theatrical window for years. In the latter half of 2011, the studio proposed offering Brett Ratner's Tower Heist available to rent in the home for $59.99 three weeks after its theatrical release on Nov. 4. The studio quickly backed down amid the threat of boycotts from theater owners.

Earlier in 2011, Universal, Warner Bros., Sony and Fox dropped a a proposal to make certain titles available 60 days after their release in theaters for $29.99 via DirecTV.

"I think Comcast wanted to test something, and this [Trolls World Tour] is the film they chose to do it with," says Eric Handler of MKM Partners. "Will they make money? We'll see."

'Modern Family' turns out the lights with a warm, funny series finale

The following contains spoilers about the "Modern Family" series finale.

(CNN)-After 11 years of family togetherness, "Modern Family" wrapped up its Emmy-winning run with perhaps the most obvious set-up -- namely, a string of fairly sudden developments that would scatter the extended clan in different directions.

The ABC comedy has, admittedly, been running on fumes a bit the past few seasons, a seemingly inevitable byproduct of hanging around this long. So the writers had some work to do in terms of pulling it all together, offering a finale that was worthy of the show's mix of big, broad laughs and tender, family-oriented heart.
For the most part, the show delivered just that, with an hour that highlighted not just the show's legacy, but coming at an unsettling moment when such fare is sorely needed. That included -- in what felt like an homage to "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" -- a big group hug, where nobody wanted to be the first to let go.
Each family faced its own crossroads. After adopting a baby boy, Cam (Eric Stonestreet) got offered his dream job back in Missouri, which would force him and his husband Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) to uproot themselves, vacating the new house they just finished lovingly furnishing.
The Dunphys, meanwhile, were dealing with a not just full but overflowing house, with all of their now-adult kids still living at home.
Still, when Claire (Julie Bowen) and Phil (Ty Burrell) asked one of their children to move out to ease the strain, they soon faced the unintended scenario of having them all go, leaving the couple facing the daunting prospect of an empty nest.
Finally, Jay (Ed O'Neill) was grappling with the fact that his wife Gloria (Sofia Vergara) is successfully working, while she worried that her sons don't need her the way they once did. His secret attempt to learn Spanish to surprise her also provided perhaps the best gag, when Phil misunderstood his request for a spoon.
It was, clearly, a lot to juggle, but the episode created moments for all of the characters, ranging from the funny to the touching, starting with Jay saying about Mitchell and Cam moving, "Both my sons are leaving."
It's worth noting, too, that for all the laughs, "Modern Family" belongs to the great tradition of sitcom trailblazers, having married its gay couple -- and watched Jay overcome his initial misgivings about the ceremony -- a year before the Supreme Court's landmark ruling on the issue.
As for the kids moving away, the show's parting image (before a medley of photos, showing how everyone had grown up) offered the perfect symbol of that, after Phil told Claire, "Leave the porch light on. They come back."
"Modern Family" not only shares the Emmy record for best comedy wins by a series (five, along with "Frasier"), but it was the last show on a broadcast network to hold that title. And every time a major sitcom hit signs off, it seems that much less likely we'll see another one like it again.
That's not to say there won't be another "Modern Family" some day in the future. But for now, with the show having so niftily ended its run, about all ABC and the other networks can do is leave the porch light on.

Linda Tripp, the former White House and Pentagon employee whose secret audiotapes of Monica Lewinsky led to the impeachment of President Bill Clinton in 1998, died on Wednesday. She was 70.

Joseph Murtha, a former lawyer for Ms. Tripp, confirmed the death. No other details were given.

When Ms. Lewinsky completed her testimony about the scandal, she was asked if she had any final comments. According to CNN, she answered, “I hate Linda Tripp.”

Ms. Tripp always contended that she had revealed Ms. Lewinsky’s private confession of a sexual relationship with Mr. Clinton out of “patriotic duty.” She had worked in the White House under President George H.W. Bush and stayed on to work briefly in the Clinton administration. She was transferred to the Pentagon and its public affairs office.

Ms. Lewinsky, who had been a White House intern, was transferred there, too, in 1996, and the women, despite a 24-year age difference, became friends.

When Ms. Lewinsky confided in Ms. Tripp that she had had a physical relationship with the president, Ms. Tripp got in touch with Lucianne Goldberg, a literary agent who had once reached out to her for information on Vincent Foster, the White House lawyer who committed suicide in 1993.

More recently, Ms. Tripp had been working on a book proposal tentatively titled “Behind Closed Doors: What I Saw Inside the Clinton White House.” Now she had a hook.

Ms. Goldberg suggested, among other things, that Ms. Tripp tape her telephone conversations with Ms. Lewinsky. That was legal in the District of Columbia and in 39 states, but not in Maryland, where Ms. Tripp was living.

More than 20 hours of audiotapes were turned over to Kenneth Starr, the independent prosecutor handling the Clinton investigation.

After four years and $30 million, Mr. Starr’s investigation had stalled, lost in stale allegations involving the Whitewater land deal in which the Clintons had lost money. Ms. Tripp’s tapes suddenly provided a fresh, rich avenue for exploration, galvanizing the investigation almost overnight as they carried the potential to bring down the president.

The tapes revealed a complicated relationship between Ms. Tripp and Ms. Lewinsky. Ms. Lewinsky seemed grateful to be able to confide in the older woman, talking with her regularly and for hours at a time about everything from their diets and exercise routines to Ms. Lewinsky’s secret romance with the president — all while Ms. Tripp was milking her young friend for incriminating information against him.

They laughed together and cried. They both ate while on the phone. At one point, Ms. Lewinsky asked Ms. Tripp to help her proofread a love letter she had written to Mr. Clinton.

“Handsome, you have been distant the past few months and have shut me out,” Ms. Lewinsky read. “I don’t know why. Is it that you don’t like me anymore, or are you scared?”

Ms. Tripp assured her that Mr. Clinton would call, prompting Ms. Lewinsky to say, “Linda, if I ever wanna have an affair with a married man again, especially the president, please shoot me.”

At another point, Ms. Lewinsky confided that after she had apparently had phone sex with Mr. Clinton, she told him that she loved him — and called him “butthead” at the same time.

During another of their long phone calls, Ms. Tripp, fully aware of her betrayal, predicted the demise of their friendship.

“I feel like I’m sticking a knife in your back,” Ms. Tripp told Ms. Lewinsky on Dec. 22, 1997, during a conversation that ran 68 pages when it was transcribed. “And I know at the end of this, if I have to go forward, you will never speak to me again.”

Ms. Tripp was later given immunity from wiretapping charges in exchange for her testimony.

She was soon a figure of ridicule, being played by John Goodman in “Saturday Night Live” sketches.

While Ms. Tripp had been central to Mr. Starr’s case against Mr. Clinton, the conservatives and Clinton-haters who once hailed her did little to try to protect her. The gibes about her were so cruel that she more or less gave up on her own defense.

She held only one news conference.

“I am you,” she said as she emerged from testifying before Mr. Starr’s grand jury. “I’m an average American who found herself in a situation not of her own making.”

Linda Rose Carotenuto was born on Nov. 24, 1949, in Jersey City, N.J. Her father, Albert Carotenuto, was a high school math and science teacher who met his wife, Inge, when he was an American soldier stationed in her native Germany. The Carotenutos divorced in 1968 after Ms. Tripp’s mother learned that her husband was having an affair with a fellow teacher.

Ms. Tripp graduated from high school in East Hanover, N.J., and went to work as a secretary in Army Intelligence at Fort Meade, Md. In 1971 she married Bruce Tripp, a military officer. In a 2003 interview, she described herself as “a suburban mom who was a military wife for 20 years.” The couple divorced in 1990.

Ms. Tripp married Dieter Rausch, a German architect, in 2004. In later years she worked with him in his family’s retail store, the Christmas Sleigh, in Middleburg, Va., a Washington suburb.

In addition to Mr. Rausch, her survivors include a son, Ryan Tripp, and a daughter, Allison Tripp Foley.

Bernie Sanders Suspends His Presidential Campaign

Despite two failed attempts for the Democratic nomination, independent Sen. Bernie Sanders has left a major mark on the party he never formally joined.

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders said Wednesday he is suspending his 2020 presidential campaign, bowing to the commanding delegate lead former Vice President Joe Biden has established.

"I wish I could give you better news, but I think you know the truth. And that is that we are now some 300 delegates behind Vice President Biden, and the path toward victory is virtually impossible," Sanders told supporters in livestreamed remarks, shortly after he had broken the news to campaign staff.

Sanders' decision comes weeks after the coronavirus pandemic upended the Democratic race. The worsening outbreak delayed primary contests and the party's nominating convention and halted all in-person campaigning, forcing the two candidates to hold virtual events from their respective homes.

Sanders suspended his campaign after voters went to the polls Tuesday in Wisconsin. The state controversially forged ahead with its primary, despite public health concerns. Results for the state's contest are expected on Monday.

It was the first state to hold a contest since March 17. Biden swept those primaries, in Arizona, Florida and Illinois, capping a month in which he rose from what seemed like the political dead to dominate three straight weeks of multiple-state primaries. Biden won 10 contests on Super Tuesday, five a week later and three more in mid-March, before the virus delayed more than a dozen contests.

Sanders, like every other Democratic presidential candidate, had long promised to support the eventual nominee. In his remarks he congratulated Biden, calling him a "very decent man," and promised to "work with [Biden] to move our progressive ideas forward."

Still, Sanders said he'll remain on the ballot in the rest of this year's primaries, in order to win more delegates to bring to the Democratic National Convention this summer. The more pledged delegates Sanders has, the more he'll be able to influence the party's platform and rules.

Not long ago, it was Sanders, not Biden, who seemed poised to win the Democratic presidential nomination. Sanders finished atop the muddled Iowa caucuses in a virtual tie, narrowly won New Hampshire and took the Nevada caucuses in a landslide.

But Sanders, an independent who caucuses with the Democrats, was never able to win broad support beyond his base of core supporters. And when the Democratic field suddenly narrowed after Biden's blowout victory in South Carolina, Biden consolidated most of the voters that had previously split their loyalties among former South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar and others.

Suddenly, Sanders wasn't just knocked out of the front-runner position; he was underperforming his 2016 presidential bid. Biden beat him in several states Sanders carried four years ago, and Biden carried every county in Michigan, the site of Sanders' most surprising 2016 victory over former Secretary of State and eventual nominee Hillary Clinton.

And his vote shares were consistently lower, even when it was effectively a two-candidate race.

Sanders conceded he was "losing the debate over electability" after that string of losses to Biden but vowed to press on, arguing he was winning the party's "ideological debate."

Sanders repeated that argument Wednesday, saying "few would deny that over the course of the last five years, our movement has won the ideological struggle" for policies like a $15 minimum wage and universal health care.Many people in former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's camp blamed hostility from Sanders supporters as a reason why she lost the general election to President Trump in 2016 — though that hostility was exacerbated by hacked and leaked Democratic National Committee emails showing that many party officials had a clear preference for Clinton over Sanders that year.

On Wednesday, Sanders directly addressed supporters who wanted to see him stay in the race: "I understand that," Sanders said, but countered, "I cannot in good conscience continue to mount a campaign that cannot win and which would interfere with the important work required of all of us in this difficult hour."

Biden himself released a lengthy statement Wednesday, saying that "Bernie has put his heart and soul into not only running for President, but for the causes and issues he has been dedicated to his whole life."
