Hi everyone!

It's been quite some time since I've checked in on HouseOfJeffers.com, and so much as changed in the last two years.

This blog doesn't show you everything I was up to as I had made the switch to Wordpress in late 2017. But, I'll get to why you are seeing the blogpost address in a minute.

I'll spare you all the details, but to sum it up in one way: HouseOfJeffers is no more. I got to the point that I didn't want to be known under a name for something I created more than 7 years ago. The content I created then, I couldn't relate to now. I have changed in so many ways, and I felt like the name House Of Jeffers didn't give you a glimpse into who I am as a person and wasn't a full representation of the content I create now - now that I'm older, a mom and just more of an adult.

And so, I started to break away from the House Of Jeffers name, and just wanted people to know me as Jen Jeffery. So, I changed my socials, starting with moving House Of Jeffers on Instagram over to my regular name, to represent the person and the mother I am now.

Plus, Wordpress deleted all my content on my domain. So yeah, it's time for a new start.

I am keeping up with this blog for the time being so others can find me, and have a way to contact me should they be looking for a New Jersey blogger, or just looking to get in contact with me.

For now, I'm the most active on Instagram, where I've always kept you up to date on the colorful musings...

Festival Mama

Greetings from not Coachella! To pay homage to the festival I'm not attending, I put together a 90s-inspired look that gives a nod to concert style in this #ootd!

But that's not what this post is about...

A year into motherhood, I am discovering that the perception of what others think being a mom means, and what I as a woman define it to be are completely different. While we all can name attributes of what a mother is, I'm often surprised at some of the comments I hear in regards to my personal appearance and motherhood.

Since it's assumed I'm a mom that I'm tired (and, not going to lie, I am beyond tired), I guess that means I would just let myself go, throw my hair in a ponytail and rock sweatpants for the rest of my life. Case in point, I took the boys for their first haircuts over the weekend. I wore this outfit. Nothing too crazy, but by my standards it's put together, presentable, represents me and has a 90s vibe I was going for. The hairdresser said to me, "Wow, you're so stylish for being a mother of twins." I said "Thank you. This is just who I am - I like taking care of myself."

Another instance, someone at a doctor's office commented that I had lipstick on to take my sons for a checkup, and quipped, "You have time to get dressed like that?"

Really?!?

For some reason, being a new mom has this rather old stigma of not caring about yourself anymore, or your own appearance. Granted, I might not whip together a blog-worthy outfit everyday, but on the off chance that I don't leave the house and therefore don't need to be as done-up as I normally am, I can, will and want to take pride in my appearance. Motherhood or not. Although my getting ready routine has changed to adapt to my sons' needs, you will never, EVER, find me out in public looking like I was just released from a psychiatric ward - no matter how chaotic my life as a parent is.

The point is, if your a parent or not, you have the right to be who you want to be. Things in life will change, priorities shift, adulting happens... But no matter what the scenario, I'm going to keep taking time to invest in myself and my well-being. If that means I put together an awesome outfit so I can feel good about myself, I'm doing it. If I want to cut my hair (BTW, do you like the new do), then so be it. New changes don't have to signal bad changes. Motherhood doesn't mean that I have to never wear heels again, and stop doing my hair. Please. I'm setting an example for my kids that you can be what you want, look how you want... regardless of what life throws at you. I'm no expert, I'm just me.

Plaid with Purpose

You know the feeling you get when you're sick of wearing sweaters and layers, so you start transitioning those spring wardrobe pieces that you have eagerly anticipating wearing for months? Welcome to my life. I refuse to wear chunky knits and heavy overcoats from this point on. Okay... so the shoes might be a stretch, but any sign of spring on a warm day means lacing up those new gladiator sandals and taking them for a walk. Sorry, but I'm over wearing black, over static in my hair and done trying to look pulled together on days where it's sleeting.

And while I'm saying no to heavy coats, I am still in favor of wearing plaid. This gorgeous swing coat from Chic Wish gives me just enough coverage on a chilly day, but is definitely feminine with the large bow at the high neck. The plaid reminds me of a kilt - very royal and regal (Hey, I'll never be queen but one can dream, ya know?) .I've also worn this coat as a dress with simple leggings and it looked just as pretty.

I'm beyond tired of boots, scarves and cold hands... I'm protesting against Mother Nature until she gets her act together. This year, I'm hoping to do something different in terms of my style aesthetic. I'm thinking more gypsy... still edgy, but mixing soft and hard pieces together for rocker chic look. Can't wait to make the investment in new pieces this year!

There is no denying that I love a quirky print. I feel like they instantly make any outfit look dressy and quirky. When I worked at Barneys New York, I was exposed to some of the most eccentric patterns and prints featured on menswear as worn by Simon Doonan. I fully appreciated his assortment of floral all-over prints and Vilebrequin ties. Women's wear doesn't fully apprecaite frantic prints, but when I find them, I fall in love with them quickly.

This glass-print top is one of my favorites. It's not only the only white shirt I own, but the pairing of black with white is a classic I can't resist. To punch up the simple color combo, I wore maroon pants and threw in another contrasting print by carrying my essentials in an animal print bag.

And it seems like my disdain for gold has gone away since I gravitate more towards this metallic more than silver. I mean... these shoes!?!?! Come. On.

I've been slowly, and I do mean slowly, getting back into a steady blog routine. Part of it has to do with the weather - I can't pack up the boys and go outside when it's too cold, and work schedules between my husband and I dictate when we have time to go on mini ventures. I think once the weather warms up, I'll be better able to write more and take photos. People think being a blogger just means going outside and taking photos... Okay, well, it sort of does. But I have some serious adulting going on that calls for me to make decisions with my time that maybe other bloggers don't have. Two children and a full time job definitely plays a part. I do, however, try to put in time when I have it, and the days when I can put together outfits and take photos makes me feel really excited to share something with all of you here.

Plus, I need a reason to curl my hair like this more often.

Although I wouldn't describe my style as traditional in any sense, I do love classic elements in fashion that are timeless pieces a part of many women's wardrobes. Stripes are probably high up on the list, and of course, a black and white combo is traditional as it get. But since my edgier and eccentric side always makes their way it an outfit, I do see myself trying to experiment with pieces that appeal to other women... but perhaps, I really did not want to wear.

Hey, I'm being honest.

So, in an attempt to think outside of the box, I figured it was time for me to buy a pair of heels.

No, I do not wear simple heels.

I always felt like I looked like the Kebler Elf in them, and besides for the obvious factors of the shoes probably being uncomfortable to walk in and even more terrible to wear all day, I figured "not for me". However, when I bought this amazing ball-gown inspired skirt, it was meant for something different. Normally, wedges would be a go-to (which I still fully support wearing), but the uber feminine aspect of the skirt, and the gorgeous Kate Spade Jenny Bag, needed a shoe with an Audrey Hepburn-esque nod to it.

Hence, a simple and classic pointed heel.

Not bad for a pair of $24 shoes bought at Forever 21. Honestly, they did not kill my feet, were comfortable and not too high - which I think is what was turning me away from heels in the first place. I have no desire to be one of those girls who can't walk in their shoes. But, for my first pair of "big girl" shoes, surprisingly, they grew on me.

Hello loves! I am so happy to be back to blogging! I've missed writing, blogging, interacting with you and creating new outfits for House Of Jeffers. Don't get me wrong - my life is still crazy and hectic, but I'm hoping to be back into blogging and post at least once a week!

So let's jump right into it. (Get it... Um, okay).

Never one to shy away from plaid, I own way too many button up shirts. No, seriously. Every other day I wear them to work, and of course, they are probably plaid. Instead of just putting together a plaid shirt and pants combo, I like to layer since a). I'm constantly cold b.) It gives me an excuse to wear a skirt and c.) I get more use of out the clothes I can't always wear by opting to layer up.

This outfit is especially cozy since the tights are fleece, I'm able to wear a plaid shirt and leather jacket with knit details to keep warm, and the oxfords are my solution to not wearing heels, but still feeling dressed up. This was an outfit I wore to brunch with my husband and sons. While there's a lot of black in this look (Gee, me, wear a lot of black?), I love the pops of gold from my shoes, the hardware on my Kate Spade Bag and the sick Olivia Palermo x Bauble Bar Crystal Quartz Necklace.

Take a moment to drool over the necklace... I'll wait.

When you those days when the weather is crappy, and you have no clue what to wear, I say go for plaid. Its bright, the pattern offers enough variation to bring contrast to your look... and it is quintessentially winter-esque!

Greetings from snow-covered New Jersey! Yes, I am still around... but I absolutely took a much needed, extended vacation from House Of Jeffers. With the holidays being as busy as they were, I really needed some time to get my thoughts together and figure out what I am doing with my blog... and of course, take care of the boys.

All is going well - I'm so busy at work, but a good busy. Of course, the work/homelife balance is something I am still navigating but getting better at juggling. But admittiedly, my interactions on social media as of lately only extend onto Instagram, where I've been sharing something fun.

You may have been my #lipfiles photos, where I profile a lipstick of the day and what I wore with it. It's a selfie without most of my face in it. So far, I love the way the photos look and it seems others are enjoying the colors I showcase. I would love for you to see some of the looks I've created by visiting me on Instagram at House Of Jeffers!

But yeah, NJ is covered in snow. I hate it. It's cold, gross and just not at all a good time for fashion blogging since taking photos in the slush of melting snow isn't all that glam. And, I'll be honest that it's still not easy for me to make time to take outfits shots. But, I'm hoping this will change once the warm weather sets in. I am, however, conjuring up new ideas on where to take House Of Jeffers...

1. Possibly creating a YouTube channel devoted to my lipstick obsessions and "cool mom stuff". While I do not consider myself to be a beauty blogger, I see myself following more #bbloggers and watching a lot more tutorials. I love the idea of vlogging, and am experimenting with topics and ideas as to what I can talk about in videos. I'm open to suggestions!

2. More "mom" content - Being a mom to twins is a unique angle, and I personally don't know of any other blogger moms with twins.

3. DIY stuff . - I'm not trying to be PS. I Made This or I Spy DIY - because honestly, I am not that gifted and what they have done is nothing short of genius. But, I have projects I enjoy doing... Especially ones that I actually use in my home or things I wear.

4. Good ol' OOTD format like I've got going right now on House Of Jeffers - I love fashion. I love style. And I love coming up with new looks. I don't think this part of the blog will ever go away, but I do want to share some of the outfits I come up with from the boys.

I will say that 2015 was the best year of my life. For two very cute and precious reasons...

I guess when you have children, you become more aware of the time that escapes you. Considering the boys are now 8 months old, I look at them every day and ask myself, "Where did my little babies go?" They are growing up so fast, and already making big strides in their growth. Landon and Nathan can both stand and crawl, are excellent eaters, grant me many nights of sleep because they sleep through the night (I probably jinxed that now that I said this), and of course, make Mike and I so happy. It is truly instant love when you have a baby, and each day when I come home from work just gets better as they are excited to see me. All the changes that have come to our life have been things more interesting. Some for the better and some, well, just different. We roll with the punches and look forward to the future.

But, I have learned many new things this year that have open my eyes to this new time in my life.

1. I am a mom, but I'm not Super Mom.

Being a mother was and still is a learning process. I don't have all the answers, but I do what I feel is best for the boys. I can't tell you how many times I've asked myself a question out loud just because the pure thought of figuring out the answer baffles me. I'm sure if the boys could communicate with me, I'd be better able to figure out what they need in those moments of crying. But, I do what I can, and do what I know. However, the sense of pride I have in myself knowing that I do all that I can to raise two happy little dudes in the best way I know how is rewarding.

2. There's never enough time for anything.

This revelation pertains to two things in specific:

A. My blog.

I'm putting it out there - House Of Jeffers isn't my first priority. I still love blogging, I love writing, and I absolutely love playing dress up. But, I don't know many bloggers who have twins who also work full time. The days of going outside on a nice day to take photos has escaped me since my sons are my absolute priority. Their needs trump anything that is going on in my life. I have tried my hardest to sit down at the computer and pen interesting posts with visuals - but I haven't done a good job of it. I'm often tired from work, and then, have responsibilities for the boys that need to be addressed. By the time it's bedtime, I'm exhausted. Or, on the days when the weather does cooperate and I can go outside, something comes up where I can't pack the boys up to take photos. Maybe when the boys are at the point where we can take them for walks and do more things with them I'll have more opportunities to carry on with the blog like I want to. But for now, I have to fit House Of Jeffers in when I can. However, to compensate for the lack of posts here, I've been upping my game on Instagram at House Of Jeffers - where you can find me anytime. A small compromise, but still, an effort I"m trying to make.

B. My social life.

Um, what social life? Listen, I'm well into my mid-30s, and not that life is over, but I'm not interested in going out and spending money on things that I don't need, nor, do I need to go out partying since I'm married. But, the free moments I had for girl's night out are few and far between. I've had to miss out on lots of things and that's okay. It's part of being an adult and being a parent that I signed up for. I can only complain so much considering my family goes above and beyond to watch the boys when social engagements come up. My husband and I try our hardest to maintain as much of ourselves and our hobbies as possible, but parenting takes a precedence to anything else we have going on. Not many people can understand that, and may be mad at me for it. I can only say that when they are in my shoes, they'll know what I mean.

3. Being a mom doesn't mean I have to give up who I am.

The mom bun is not part of my style routine. I don't own a velour jumpsuit. I still wear heels.

I still put on my makeup, do my hair and of course, pick out an outfit to wear that says "Jen", but a stylish mom-version of her.

Not all aspects of being a mom are glamorous, but that doesn't mean I have to rough it every morning in order to get the boys ready. Getting myself dressed and pampering myself in those small moments makes me feel like I'm more ready to take on the day. So while I might not get out of my PJs till 12 on a Sunday, when I do, I look like my normal self.

4. At the end of the day, nothing else matters except for your family's happiness.

Listen, things don't always go the way I plan. People sometimes turn out to be jerks, and let you down. But compared to what's going on at home - it's all trivial b.s. that will work itself out. As long as the people I love are happy - who cares about anything else? If you can't control it, don't waste your time worrying about it. That mantra is something I preach but don't always practice, so I have some catching up to do in 2016.

But, 2015 was amazing. I loved every minute of it, and I hope you did, too. If not, you can always start over... and January 1 is a great place to start.

Seven months into being a mother, I'm finding that I still take pride in getting ready in the morning. I know that for some, it can be hard to put the energy into getting yourself dolled up to go to work, or even just take on the day, but that is the one thing I told myself I wouldn't let go of. After the boys have been fed, or are taking a nap on the weekend, I then make it habit of putting an effort into pulling myself together. That's not to say that if you are a mom who doesn't that you don't care about your appearance, because trust me, I have days when I have to half-ass getting ready for the sake of my children... I just find that being a mom doesn't mean I have to or need to let go of my former self.

With that being said, I do turn to clothing that is comfortable, practical, but yet, has something visual going on outside the norm of some of the things I wear. Take for instance, this pinafore. One part suspenders, one part dress, it gives the illusion that the outfit is really intricate when it fact all I did was put on a sweater and put a dress over it. The sweater has a Peter Pan collar so again, it looks like I put on two shirts for effect, but really, it's all in one.

I hope you all are having a great holiday season. As you can imagine, and as you can probably tell from the lack of updates on the blog, I have so much going on between work and the babies. I do miss blogging, and I do miss the routine I had on the weekend to prep for blog photos, but it is so hard for me to find time literally outside of my home to go outside and take photos. I won't risk taking the boys outside on cold days, and it's not fair of me to get the twins bundle up just so I can take my photos; my sweet husband has offered to do this for me numerous times a a result of the guilt I feel for not maintaining House Of Jeffers. I just can't. So, I find time... Key word "find".

If you are a mom blogger, I would love to know your secret on how you make time to take photos for your blog when you have a newborn. Plaid: The Unapologetic Fall Uniform

I've pretty much been wearing plaid every day. And I should probably find something other than plaid to wear since it's not like I don't have other clothes in my closet to wear.

Never been one to fully master layering, I figured if was going to put on another button-up shirt, maybe I should break it up somehow. Instead of a chunky knit sweater, I tried out this sleeveless peplum shirt from H&M, and there you have it - the outfit I wore to take Nathan and Landon to visit Santa! Yes, I already took the boys for their first Christmas photo with Santa about a week ago. And yes, I am that mom. No way was I going to brave doing this on Black Friday, or really, any weekend after that considering the mob scene the mall turns into. Moms out there know what I'm talking about - I've got potential diaper changes in the mall and a feeding schedule to contend with. Early it is.

And since we're getting all festive, I'll be rocking this perfect Kate Spade New York Southport Avenue Handbag that I got for my birthday! It's actually called the Jenny (not the reason I wanted it), and if I do say so myself - it fits my style personality. It's bold, and different, yet can become a classic wardrobe piece with extreme versatility. Since I opt for darker colors to incorporate into my wardrobe, I've found having a red handbag to be extremely inspiring in terms of finding new things to pair it with.

House Of Jeffers - 5 Year Later...

A very special dress deserves a very special post.

While a little behind since motherhood has taken over my life...

House Of Jeffers is 5 years old!

Unbelievable. Five years of fashion, style, adventures... and so many life experiences. I always look back on what's transpired in relation to the first year I started blogging, and this year really takes the cake. But before we get into all the milestones that happened this year, let's acknowledge the dress.

This dress.

It is stunning. I fell in love with it so quickly, I didn't care where I was going to wear it, if it was an impractical piece that would spend more time in my closet then on my body... All that I knew was that it was quintessentially Jen. The print is so intricate and vibrant, and uber boho gypsy. And no, it's not vintage. It's ASOS. But I will say that this is probably the most beautiful dress I've ever dared to wear. So, I knew I had to save it for my blogiversary photos, which my extremely talented, generous and supportive friend, Jody Gianni, captured for me. Please, do yourself a favor and check out her amazing photography here.

Which brings me to today. House Of Jeffers has absolutely changed since 2009. My idea of what fashion was then was probably way off. I had different interests which influenced my style aesthetic, resulting in looks that were a bit more edgy and maybe a little ~~immature~~ youthful. [Insert embarrassing photos here.] I worked at Barneys New York at the time as a copywriter, so I just started to get exposed to designers and brands. I also married my husband that year, which brought a new-found inspiration from his home, England, to House Of Jeffers.

In 2010, I started to come into my own as far as being a blogger is concerned. I found my voice, and started to branch out and take more risks on House Of Jeffers. Inspired by England, bits and pieces of the UK found their way into outfit posts. Trips across the pond further motivated me to share how much I love England with you.

As years passed, so did my fashion sense. I stayed pretty much on par from 2012 to 2014. One of the best things to happen to me was the friendships I made. Oh, and that time I was to be in a Tresemme Hair video shot by Candice Lace during New York Fashion Week. Let's call them "the definitive House Of Jeffers style years." Being exposed to other bloggers, and getting into social media influenced me to really hone in on personal style and create a signature look. I'm sure people associate my bangs with me more than any other look I've showcased on the blog.

Yet, even when I was pregnant, I felt like I did a pretty darn good job of putting an effort into looking like me. I navigated maternity clothes and found short cuts to dressing my bump without feeling dowdy.

Of course, the biggest change to House Of Jeffers, and me, was becoming a new mom in April 2015. It is my biggest adventure yet, and my most favorite of all. I've only started to share some of who Landon and Nathan are becoming on the blog, and more is hopefully on the way. Another new change for me this year on top of the mom title was being a full-time working mom. Plus, I was promoted at work so that too made returning to work something more positive. Leaving my littles at home is something I still struggle with, but loving what I do makes going to my job easier.

Finally, I took a step away from blogging for better half of 2015 to focus on my sons. They are just about to turn 7 months this week, and as you can imagine, things are very hectic on the home front. Knowing that my life has evolved into what's beyond my closet, the decision was made to change the format of House Of Jeffers to focus on not just style, but lifestyle, #momlife and being a real person on a real budget. The new format has breathed new life into content that I hope resonates with you - whether you're single, married, have kids, have a cat, hate work pants [I loathe them]... whatever. The goal is still to make this little blog of mine better, and I'm hoping to find more time to do so in the future....

But if you find some time for me, or know where to get some, let me know.

As always, I need to acknowledge all the people, friends, family, brands and readers who still support me and House Of Jeffers. While this place might have some cobwebs on it occasionally, know that I am so grateful and humble to have a moment of your time. The kind words I receive here and on Instagram do not fall on deaf ears. Thank you for letting me entertain you... and indulging my narcissist ways regarding my bangs. I mean, they are pretty awesome if I do say so myself.

The easiest way for me to up the ante with any outfit that I put together is with a statement necklace. And I must admit - lately, my necklace game has been on point! Stocking up on sparkling stunners in both gold and silver, I love having different styles of jewelry so I can play up outfits or push them over the edge with a simple statement piece. And since I'm on the budget side of things, that always helps.

Investing in jewelry is something that you won't regret as you'll have the piece for years to come, and when just when you're feeling like your outfit is kind of "blah", wearing jewelry changes the look instantly. One of my favorite places to hunt down jewels is Shiny Mix. I was fortunate enough to meet gorgeous founder Kathy at the Lovely Happenings event, and I pretty much acted like a giddy child over our encounter since I obsess over her stunning assortment of jewelry! For some reason, there's this assumption that because you're a mom that you should throw your sense of self to the wayside, and that ponytails and sweatpants become your uniform. While I can attest that your uniform will have an occasion spit-up stain on it, I can attest that I take pride in looking like a mom who gives a diaper about what she looks like. Pulled together and polished is the name of my #momlife game. And in this day and age of modern mamas, there really isn't any excuse why a stylish #momlife slogan tee, skinny jeans and a designer diaper bag can't be the norm for you as a new mother.

My nails are panted. My heels are high... and my accessories coordinate with my little guys to let the world know I'm a stylish mom, and I'm proud of it.

The Lovely Happenings Event Recap

Living so close to New York City means I get the opportunity to hop on a train for quick trips at my leisure... Or, with some careful planning and a babysitter.

It's been a while since I attended an event to reconnect with fellow fashionistas, bloggers, and artists in the community that motivate me to create more, dream bigger. When I heard from one of my blogger besties, Suma of The Fashion Beauty Junkie, about her amazing experience attending the Lovely Happenings earlier this year as a presenter, I knew I wanted to attend the October event. A combination of panels on fashion, careers, lifestyle and art, this was definitely what I needed to open my eyes to new experiences and perspectives.

Kicking off the event was a panel on fall fashion featuring NYC bloggers Dana of Pink Champagne Problems, Hallie of Sleepless in Sequins, Cara of The Style Phile and Katie of Katie's Bliss. Some of the trends they loved were plaids, knee-high boots and leather. Um, yes, please!

In between panels, guests has the opportunity to network, craft with Pietro Handbags and Anna Osgoodby, indulge in a manicure, customize cupakes and shop .I brought home a chic pyramid stud cuff bracelet from Bleeker + Spring, and made new connections with some of the nicest, sweetest bloggers who were all so friendly.

It was really refreshing to talk to women who weren't competing with one another and all felt the sense of community blogging has that drew many of us in. All the women on the fall fashion panel, as well as Erika of Retro Flame, were absolutely lovely to chat with, which really renewed my faith in blogging that there are down-to-earth women wanted to help one another and grow the community.

Plus, it was like a mini reunion to see my girl Suma, who is one of the first bloggers I became friends with about 3 years ago. Love this girl!

Uptown Punk: Fall in Love with Plaid

Plaid has long been a staple for Fall. A classic print that is versatile due to its variations in textile, colors and presentation, wearing plaid is a right of passage once the bitter chill of fall kicks in. Whether you smell like Teen Spirit because you love the 90s grunge look, or want to channel your inner royal, styling plaid is easy... as long as you know what you're looking for.

Tartans are bold and regal, but a classic check offers the ability to play up its typical two-tone features with accessories. No wardrobe is complete, in my opinion, without a red lumberjack button up shirt or jacket. Wear it with jeans, a leather mini and a pair of caged heels and you can be a fashionista at the office and happy hour. What's better - dark plaids lend themselves to being worn with dark makeup like burgundy, red and wines, or a basic lip nude is the perfect polished touch. My favorite way to rock plaid is with a deep lip and statement jewelry. The turtleneck and skirt combo has a punk-rock feel, but it still very feminine... best of both worlds if you ask me.

Plaids can also be played down with loafers, Converse and a simple blazer. You don't have to go all-out punk, if you want to experiment with edgy style - plaid is the way to go!

Well, there's no getting around it: Fall is officially here. The season for denim, leather jackets and darker nail polish. I used to really dread this time of year, but I think I've finally nailed down my style during the season that truly has an identity crisis. One day it's warmer than usual, the next you feel like you're in a hurricane. I try to do my best to stay warm but not look like a total Eskimo on chilly days. Luckily, New Jessey dodged Hurricane Joaquin, and I can still get away without wearing a jacket most days.

This time last year, I was pregnant, which meant that I wasn't buying that many new clothes, but was learning the woes that is maternity clothing shopping (which you can read about here). I did not hide the fact that finding maternity jeans was a b%^&@, and considering I dropped some serious dosh on em, I might as well get the most out of my maternity pants, right?

So, yes, the jeans I'm wearing are Gap Maternity jeans. While I am down to my normal pre-pregnancy size, these skinnies fit me perfectly in the legs, and the waist has a insert that gives, which comes in handy when my friend Flow visits and brings her nasty sister Bloat with her. I know, TMI - but since I'm all about giving you something you can relate to... you might as well get the most out of your denim - pregnant or not.

Ladies, don't count those maternity pants out. Get a belt, take them to the tailor - do whatever you can to salvage them. If they fit you well while you were preggers, you can still rock em.

On the weekends, I like to get dressed up when I take the boys out. It's not much of a departure from what I do during the workweek, but since there haven't been nights out away from the boys, I try to always put my best stylish self together for days I spend taking the boys somewhere. And in this outfit, I really think I look like a vintage mom. Very Leave It To Beaver June Cleaver Style.

Which leads me to my first true relatable fashion post! Remember how I told you I was rebranding the blog, and would be sharing my style trials on pairing high-end with the economical? This outfit is a perfect example!

Economical

Since I was able to squeeze in another dress day, I wore this adorable Peter Pan collared dress I scored at Forever 21 for around $17. Some of my bangles are from Alex and Ani, and some, I found at a thrift store and paid no more than $5 for two vintage goldtone bracelets. And I ain't mad at it. Love a bargain.

High-End

I consider two of the other things I'm wearing high-end.

First, my heels are from Banana Republic. No joke, I bought them during someone's wedding in New York. After the ceremony, my dogs were killing me and I had to get the shoes I add on off - immediately. Listen, a shopper is never not in shopping mode. Twenty minutes later, I scored these lovies. They have a gold bar on the inside of the heel, which gives the shoes a refined look. They were $110, and are about two years old.

But the piece I spent the most on was this gorgeous Tory Burch Fleming Bag. When I went back to work last month, I was promoted, and to reward myself for my new position, I figured I'd buy the bag I'd been stalking on Instagram for, like, ever. Best of all - I didn't pay full retail price for this bag. In fact, I got it for 70% off, plus an extra 10% at Saks - which added up to at least $125 less than full price. My secret - sign up for the mailing list, then keep an eye on multiple websites for sales. For a Tory Burch bag that is relatively new, I think I seriously scored.

It's gorgeous. It's quilted. It's timeless. And it is THE bag. Like, the bag you buy that you won't take certain places because you don't want it to come in contact with other people... Yeah, that bag.

Hard work pays off... especially when shopping for a bargain!

A Tendency for Tulle

Somewhere in between changing diapers and going to work, I managed to make it into NYC a few weeks ago for a dear friend's birthday celebration for a party cruise! The weather was perfect, and the sunset at the pier was even more gorgeous. With an opportunity to get dressed up not going to waste, I planned my outfit in anticipation for a night of sailing around New York City! The term "what to wear" was said about 50 times in my home... which I'm sure thrilled my husband.

I knew I wanted to wear something that would be ship-appropriate - aka not a skirt that would blow up - and a a pair of shoes to keep me in balance. The tulle skirt from Boohoo, which I wore a few weeks ago here, was a great option because it looked dolled up with my polka dot crop top and ballet-inspired wedges from Shoe Mint. Tulle skirts were huge last year, and when I looked for mine, I knew I didn't want to spend any more than $40 on. And I didn't. Mine cost around $28! The luxury item of my look comes from the Henri Bendel bag - gold hardware instantly dressed up any outfit.

A night out was definitely what we needed. Don't get me wrong - I cherish all my days and nights with my boys, but I think it's important for parents to maintain as much of the normalcy they had before to keep their own sense of self now that they're new parents. Since the babes were born, we've been out a handful of times, but nothing as fun as the boat ride.

And even though I live so close to New York, I don't think I truly appreciate it. The trips I do make into the city I often find something new about New York that creates a new memory for me, and motivates me to do more of these fun things. Hopefully, we'll get to have more dressed up nights and fun-filled days that we can share with the twins as they get older!

Now that New York Fashion Week has come to an end, it's time to take those outfits you can't get off your mind and wear them yourself. But, there's one problem - you can't afford the runway designs.

This is absolutely the story of my life - I fall in love with a head-to-toe outfit on the runway, and then take a moment of silence to mourn the outfit I'll never own... And then, I get over it and find the relatable alternative according to my budget. Since my style aesthetic is a little frenetic, I find that recreating looks on the cheap and cheerful isn't that hard. And if you love to save your pennies for handbags or that one killer accessory to take your outfit over the top, then you'll want to save where you can.

You watched her on The Hills, and pretty much still obsess her style and signature beach waves. OC darling Lauren Conrad's collaboration with Kohl's is a playful collection of ethereal pieces that range from whimsical floral prints, to high-waisted pants and lace crop tops. It's adorable, it's versatile... and best of all, it is ridiculously economical as you can purchase everything at Kohl's (which has sales frequently).

RODARTE

The Mulleavy sisters did not disappoint delivering their Spring/Summer 2016 presentation. Some are calling it pirate inspired, others see a Victorian goddess, and I see 70s gypsy chic. Regardless of your view, all of it was gorgeous.

To recreate the look, the brown leather pants from Ann Taylor cost $98, but you can use the code YESPLEASE for 40% off! Betsey Johnson

A New York Fashion Week icon, Betsey Johnson delivered her signature eccentricity with sequins, tutus, houndstooth and of course, a little bit of punk rock thrown in to represent her 50 years of fashion. Representing numerous decades, Betsey paid homage to NYC landmarks and her years of putting out style her way.

Change You Can Relate To

Sometimes, you have to face the fact that things change... and it's really an awkward feeling. In my case, House Of Jeffers has strayed away from my original plan when I started blogging almost 5 years ago.

When I created the blog, I was working as a copywriter for Barneys New York. My day in and day out was consumed by fashion, which motivated me to create my own space on the Internet where I could share my personal style. Also a major factor in my life, and still to this day, is/was my love for England. I owe it to my husband for bringing this influence into my life - bringing his culture in to my life. I was so in awe with the UK and the stylish women of London who wore heavy black eyeliner and a nude lip like no other. They still look gorgeous, and I'm still jealous that I haven't nailed down the look. The name "House Of Jeffers" was truly inspired by royal houses of England - taking part of my last name and using it to create my own royal "house" filled with a fabulous wardrobe that I loved.

Fast forward 4 years later, and much has changed in my life. Focuses have shifted beyond the blog. Obviously, the biggest of which was the birth of my sons. Before them, my blog was the thing I nurtured in my spare time. And England was the place I turned to for motivation in my blog. It was the niche I created for myself. It was my thing as a blogger... or so I thought.

But it seems as though the part of me that loves England didn't fully translate well with my audience. And I've kind of had a good idea that that was the case for at least a year now. I was holding on to this idea of being a NJ blogger with a UK point of view because honestly, I was scared that I wouldn't know what to do with my blog. Being from New Jersey, I thought that wasn't interesting enough because let's face it - the state gets a bad reputation. I was worried that I would just be a blogger with nothing to contribute. But let's face it: When do I really talk about England? When was the last time I incorporated a hint of UK-inspired anything in to my outfits or let alone, my blog content? It's probably been at least 2 years...

About two weeks ago, I joined Periscope on a whim (you can find me at House Of Jeffers). I didn't know what I was going to do being on it, but the first day I signed up, I did my first awkward broadcast of talking to random strangers who were watching. One of which was Mister Newton (hey buddy!). While I might have stumbled over my words, and didn't have much to say in the 10 minutes I scoped, I managed to find other people on the platform offering invaluable information on growing a business, connecting with your audience, and being more business-oriented when it comes to my reach as a blog. I've know since started scoping on a daily basis about blogging, fashion and being a mom.

As a result of joining Periscope, I basically had my ass kicked by Hilary Rushford of Dean Street Society, Zach Spuckler and Nicole "Soprah" Walters. Watching their scopes on various topics relating to entrepreneurship and expanding my reach, I started to put things in perspective with my blog and what I was actually doing on it. The reality is: I am doing some things wrong. I was complacent with my blog. And I was scared out of my mind because this meant I had to change House Of Jeffers.

Hot off of attending Periscope Church, my newest social media place of worship, I asked one of my dearest and most honest friends:

Me: "What do think my blog is about? I know I have this whole UK thing, but I feel like I can't do anything with it."

Her: " I don't get England from your blog at all."

I was relieved. I needed someone else to confirm what I was thinking. She pressed on:

Her: "When I tell people about your blog, I tell them how you dress head to toe in clothing that looks expensive, but it's not. That you always have one thing on that is a little more high end than the rest, but your entire outfit looks like it cost more than what you spent."

Honestly, I never thought of my blog like this. But she was right. She works with me everyday, and sees what I wear to work, which isn't much different than my outfit posts on my blog. I started to get really excited about this because I felt like there was an opportunity to start over on House Of Jeffers - with real intent that is relatable to other people.

That's it! Relatable style. House Of Jeffers is about creating relatable style for women who don't have a loaded bank account with money to burn. Because I sure as hell don't. I just know how to fake it with my clothing.

So there it is. A new change:

House Of Jeffers is all about bringing relatable style to you. I will show you how you can be fashionable on a budget and still look like you spent $200 on your outfit, when I only spent $70. I'll mix the relatable, economical with the high-end obtainable bag you've been drooling over... then tell you how to get it on the cheap and cheerful. Oh, and I'm still talking about being a new mom on here - that will never change.

I am so happy to share my new direction with all of my readers. I truly feel like this is the direction I should have been taking a long time ago, but was too afraid to do so. I am so motivated to make House Of Jeffers my best ever, and I'm actively taking steps to improve as much as I can. A new design is on the horizon, too!

If you've been a longtime reader, or are new to my blog, I just wanted to say how grateful I am for your patience with me as I get back into blogging. Being a mother is my number one priority, and that calls for me to put my family first. But, the free time I do get I cherish, and I still love House Of Jeffers. I'm doing my best to be the best blogger I can be, so I can bring you the best content. And so I thank you for all the support you've shown me. I hope you'll continue to stick around and see how it all pans out.

A Jersey Shore Send-Off to Summer

The fact that Fall is on its way in really bums me out. Summer is my all-time favorite time of year - always has been ever since I was a little girl. The beach, the boardwalk, the warm summer nights... the crop tops. I'm going to miss summer especially since it was the first true season I got to spend with my sons.

So, to give summer a send off in our own little way, the Jeffery clan headed down to the boardwalk in Point Pleasant, New Jersey for a last hurrah if you will. We took the drive down the Garden State Parkway and planned to win the boys some stuffed animals from the arcades... And of course, grab a slice of pizza. It was definitely one of the best days of the summer, and I'm really going to miss the chance to take the twins down there again until next year.

And it was only fitting that I squeeze in some photos in my favorite place. Hopefully, we can ride out the heat until late September so I have more time to wear all my summer brights.

Blue Hues

Going back to work has given me the chance to dust off all the clothes I couldn't wear while pregnant, and to rip the tags off new ones I bought when I literally couldn't see my feet.

But now that I have a view of what's beneath me, I'm back in my heels and feeling like I'm regaining my pre-pregnancy appearance. It's been 4 months, and for the most part I think I look pretty much the same. Okay... I'm just going to say it: I look like I didn't have two babies. And I know how lucky I am to have good genes in the sense that I was able to bounce back to my pre-baby size. But, I do have some work to do and while it may not be visible to everyone, I know what I want to achieve and that I'm not 100% there yet. It is a struggle to come to terms that your body really isn't your body anymore after you have a baby, let a lone two. Yet, what it all comes down to is any woman who has had a child would probably say they would sacrfice the appearance of their body for the sake of their children. And I'm no exception.

Dresses have always been a staple for me, and especially for summer. Expanding my color palette, this blue geo print dress in blue is one of my current favs. I've worn it both casual and dressy, as is evident by the heels in today's #ootd. I wore this outfit on a Sunday for lunch in my town with the boys, and for some mommy time getting my hair blown out in the morning. Simple pleasures, people. I'll take free time when I can get it... but I don't mind sacrificing my personal me time for the boys.

Unless we're shopping (just kidding!).

Upgraded Minimalist

All this talk of summer being over is reminding me that I need to get in those outfits that I won't be able to enjoy in a few weeks. I'm talking crop tops, sandals and neons. I've always had this weird obsession with unicorns... Okay, I know that sounds incredibly strange and no, I'm not high. I just think there's something funny to be said about this mystical and mythical creature that makes me giggle. When I saw this unicorn crop top, I didn't care how I was going to wear it with anything in my closet... I just had to buy it.

For me, I'm in favor of two kinds of outfits: really minimalist in terms of colors - greys and blacks. And then quirky pieces with a lot of flair - hence, the Kate Spade bag. Combining the two is even better in my book since I'm wearing some of my favorite colors while toning down the bright bag with a simple black tulle skirt. Going back to work has let me wear a lot of the clothes I hadn't dug out in a while, and given me a chance to try out this whole working mom routine in the morning. While the top isn't work appropriate, I managed to save this outfit for a weekend of local fun in my town with the boys and my hubby.

August is flying by too fast! Before we know it, fall will be here. And yes, I've already started stocking up!

#momlife: Style for You and Your Little

Even though I am a mother to twins, I am not really a fan of dressing my sons alike. I think it's important for them to have their own personality. And besides, being as obsessed as I am about my own clothes, do you think I would miss an opportunity to style my boys individually?

However, my stance on this does have a loophole. While I wouldn't dress Landon and Nathan alike, I WOULD rock a t-shirt that matches theirs. The #momlife movement is huge right now, and it's made its way into fashion. Moms want to show off their proud mommy pride, and while their children represent that love, some are taking it a step further by opting for slogan tees that put that sentiment in writing. I love that I can dress the boys in something fun that makes me feel a part of their twin vibe. And even if you are a mother to one, it's equally adorable!

I have started to grow my mommy t-shirt collection already. Plus, my kids get to play dress up with me as I dress them in bodysuits that mimic my quirky sense of pride. The best place I've found mom slogan tees - Instagram! Some of my favorite shops include:
