Will the movie industry replace the DVD?

The movie industry continues to scramble to figure out how to stop the loses that they are experiences on sales and their digital content. They are trying to figure how to better prevent piracy and continue to get extra rich. Their ideas sound pretty weak to me.... they are selling that you can watch movies in different places but never actually own a copy ...you essentially are paying for access!!
There are two new ideas floating around.

One is DECE (Digital Entertainment Content Ecosystem), an initiative by the major studios (minus Disney) to "come up with a common set of standards and formats" (it doesn't sound like this idea is too far along yet). The other is Keychest, Disney's planned service:. It would allow consumers to buy permanent access to digital entertainment — a specific film, for instance — that then could be watched on computers, cellphones and cable on-demand services. Analysts speculate that Apple will be a partner. A mother could start streaming Toy Story on a laptop for her kids, continue the film on an iPhone at a restaurant and finish it at home with a video-on-demand cable service ... Piracy, at least conceptually, would be less of a worry. The technology rests on cloud computing, in which huge troves of data are stored on remote servers so users have access from anywhere. Movies would be streamed from the cloud and never downloaded, making them harder to pirate.

Music: The Importance of Reading Music

With all of the great music that come out, in all genres, it never strays too far away from the fundamentals. In music, the fundamentals are music theory and the ability to read and interpret music. A music teacher I once had always said, 'Musicians can read music...' and I believe that to be true. I also believe that music education is a valuable thing for all children.

The piano is a great instrument on which to learn music; reading music, music theory as well as manual dexterity. I found a a great site for piano sheet music, piano lessons and general information. The website has great information and tools for all experience levels.

The first benefit, in the process of reading piano sheet music, is that a student will learn where every note is placed on the piano or any instrument. When playing with other musicians, students acquire the knowledge that will allow them to play in any key, because they learned the root note and from there, can determine which scale to play. Reading music teaches the student the tonal value of any given note and where the notes can be found.

Equally important to this matter is the fact that the ability to read piano sheet music teaches the student, by assigning a time value to each given note, how to develop the discipline of counting out whole, half, quarter, eighth, and sixteenth notes, which in turn allows the musician to create musical nuances that are important when playing.

After many hours of reading sheet music, rhythm becomes intrinsic and listening skills improve because stimulating the visual sense as well as the auditory reinforces the musicians' musicality. After all, music is a language and like any language to be fully understood, it must be read, practiced, and written. When the language of music is fully understood, it is easy to translate this skill to other instruments.

Composition, or the process of writing music, is the core of any musical artist, and while it is not necessary to know how to read or how to write musical notation, the ability to do so will inherently enhance a musicians' original works.

My belief in the right to Own Guns

I am so proud of our new President of the United States. A black man... I never thought I would see it ! So far I am reasonably pleased with his performance, but I am keeping my eyes on his 'gun-control' policies.

I try to sift through all the extreme media reports to get to some truth, but I will be one of the first to oppose my President if he attempts to interfere with my right to own firearms!

In my opinion, our guns are a constant and necessary balance of power. History has shown that, once the people are disarmed, their rights begin to be diminished. I Am not a hard-core conspiracy theorist, but I am sure that there are segments of our governmental 'elite' and international power brokers, that can benefit from a defensless population.

The gun laws that exist need to be inforced. Lets start there. I dont believe you should be able to buy machine guns, as easily as you could buy a hand gun or rifle, just as you cant go out and easily purchase a bazooka, but we need to be very careful how we accept new gun laws. The guns used in crimes are usually stolen or illegally obtained, so how will new laws impact crime?

The thing is, this Conservative website, Townhall.com, is owned by a Christian Radio Network!!! They obviously feel this type of commentary is Christian-like. I ask them .... What Would Jesus DO? Would he approve of this type of language or the sentiment behind it?

This just illustrates how the 'Christian' crowd can be some of the most hateful people in the world. It's one thing to disagree with the President, but what is to be gained by bashing his wife.... and to me Jackie Kennedy, was not all that! But obviously, in this guys, distorted view, she is the standard of beauty that all should be judged against. I bet he thinks all music should be judged against Elvis Presley too! Racism still exist because many of these 'culture warriors' still run the air waves and until we get rid of them it will continue. I find that racism among younger people (40 and under) is not as much as a factor....

I had a friend ask me ..." Aren't you too old to still be listening to hip hop ?" ( I am 35)
I quickly replied... "hell no !"
The exchange made me think about how some 'younger' hip-hoppers seem to have a problem with some of the older rappers that are still doing it. I think that it is stupid, self defeating and short sighted to say that a person can't rap after a certain age!
The only judge of wether some one should stop rapping is wether or not they are still capable of making good music, do they have an audience, and does their music represent them - properly.
The younger rappers yelling that some other rappers are too old are either stupid or lack forsight! Chances are, if your a successful rapper, you will get older! Either they are not viewing their music as a viable, long-term career or they are writing their own retirement song!
You rarely here this kind of goofiness in other genres of music... Or other art forms, for that matter... period!

In all things, the youth often feel that its their time and that they are the best and only thing going, but rarely do they do it with the intent of ending a persons career, as seen in the world of Hip Hop !
I say , keep rockin til you can't make good music, people stop buying, or you stop for personal reasons.

Just an observation

I have friends of various races and ethnicities and they all have little things about them that reflect the more, stereotypical beliefs about their race (me included).
This is an observation that I have made and it is not scientific and is a bit of a generalization, but my white colleges don't speak when we are outside the office. My office isn't large and everyone is on first-name basis.
I have crossed paths with my white colleges, as well as other white people I know, and they don't acknowledge you at all! Not that my feelings are hurt, but where I'm from, people go out of the way to speak when they know you, or at least acknowledge that they see you ... Head nod or something.
Maybe it's a cultural thing. Maybe they don' t acknowledge because 'we all look a like' . LOL Maybe I am trippin and they just didn't see me as they looked at me.

Racism: Will it ever stop?

I am not a person that is quick to cry racism. I am a person that knows, that even in this day, racism is still around. I think it is sad and so counter-productive... and that goes for racists of any color! This was sent to me earlier and it was just another reminder, that racism is still around.

Two weeks ago outside Philadelphia, sixty-five children from a summer camp tried to go swimming at a club their camp had a contract to use. Evidently, the club didn't know the kids were largely Black.

When the campers entered the pool, White parents took their kids out of the water, and the swimming club's staff asked the campers to leave. The next day, the club told the summer camp that their membership would be canceled and that they would refund their money. When asked why, the club's leader said the "kids would change the complexion ... and the atmosphere of the club."

A "Whites only" pool in 2009 should not be tolerated. The club's actions appear to be a violation of section 1981 of the Civil Rights Act. Whether or not any laws were violated, a "Whites only" pool should be something every American condemns.

I've just joined ColorOfChange.org in doing exactly that -- will you join me, and email your friends and family asking them to do the same? We're also calling on the Department of Justice to evaluate suing the facility under federal law. It takes just a moment to do both, here:

Obama is President but that doesn't mean that suddenly all is fine when it comes to race in America. This is a vivid reminder of what we know still lies beneath the surface.

We all know stories like this one -- similar incidents play out quietly every day in different communities across the country. The difference in this case is that folks got caught and there was a contract in place that makes for a potentially illegal act.

Standing up now isn't just about making things right for these kids in Philadelphia or bringing consequences to this swim club (called the Valley Swim Club). It's about creating a climate of accountability everywhere. If we can publicly shame the Valley Swim Club and hold them accountable for this incident, it will make others think twice before engaging in this kind of discrimination.

Please join me in condemning the Valley Swim Club's blatant discrimination and calling on the Justice Department to investigate whether they violated civil rights laws. And please ask your friends and family to do the same.

Boy did I get a surprise last evening. After running around a bit after work and a potential client canceled an appointment, I was free to move about. The wife was busy with her mom and I was free.

Decided to hit Jazzy Summer Nights; the free monthly event that brings in great music acts and always draws a large crowd. People of all types; from hood dwellers to professionals to families. About a third of the people are there for the music, another third are there for the outside festival atmosphere and the final third are there to network, promote or meet people.

The suprise was "Fertile Ground" was performing! What a great suprise. This group is in a class of their own. They are a group that originated in the Baltimore area and, though they have released four albums and toured the world, many people are still unaware of their emmense talent. Fertile Ground is hard to categorize. Their music is a blend of Jazz, Spirituality, Folk, Hip Hop and Soul. Their music is thought provoking, etheral, lively and funky.

BAND MEMBERS: Navasha Daya (Vocals, Percussion); James Collins (Keyboards, Synth Bass, Production); Freddie Dunn (Trumpet, Fluglehorn); Craig Alston (Saxophones); Ekendra Das (Percussion); Joel Mills (Guitar); and Mark Prince (Drums).

About fifteen minutes into their set, the rain began to fall. This cleared out about half the crowd, but Fertile Ground kept the energy high and the music fans were rewarded becuase the rain quickly passed and the show only got better!

For men, black men especially, the barbershop is a great place. A place of comfort. A place that men can be a men ... No politically correct conversation. Just raw uncut humor, political commentary, education and, again men. There is very little room for metro, homo or any other sexuality besides hetero! Thats not to say that the barbershop does not welcome them, but you rarely see it. Maybe be the "maness" of the place just over shadows everything else... My thought.

The barbershop is a place where young boys bond with fathers and learn how to communicate with other men. Woman are welcome in the barbershop too. The conversation "cleans up" a bit, out of respect, but the overall vibe never changes.

The barbershop is a place that you can buy music, find out about the hot party, come up on things from "hustle man", and leave "fresh"!

Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon at his Holmby Hills home and paramedics were unable to revive him. We're told when paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back.

A source tells us Jackson was dead when paramedics arrived. A cardiologist at UCLA tells TMZ Jackson died of cardiac arrest.

The accepted wisdom tells us that the age at which a person can legally consent to sex in the US is eighteen. Before this line of demarcation, a person is "jailbait".
I totally agree with the 18 year old rule... there are many sixteen and seventeen year-olds that know more than some adults, but their mental developement and decision making is immature, in many cases.... 18 is a nice safe number!

On their eighteenth birthday, they become "legal." But in the majority of states, this isn't the case. It's up to each state to determine its own age of consent. Only fifteen states have put theirs at eighteen, with the rest going lower. Eight have set the magic point at the seventeenth birthday. The most popular age is sixteen, with 27 states and Washington DC setting the ability to sexually consent there. (Hawaii's age of consent had been fourteen until mid-2001, when it was bumped to sixteen.)

Of course, as with anything regarding the law, there are considerable shades of gray. For one thing, these laws don't apply if the lovers are married. A new Kremlin report on the shadowy Bilderberg Group, who this past week held their annual meeting in Greece, states that the West’s financial, political and corporate elite emerged from their conclave after coming to an agreement that in order to continue their drive towards a New World Order dominated by the Western Powers, the US Dollar has to be “totally” destroyed.

Even worse, a new US report on these secret Bilderberg meetings states: “Investigative journalist Daniel Estulin, whose information from inside Bilderberg has routinely proven accurate, states that the global elite’s plan to completely destroy the economy and ultimately lower global population by two thirds has stoked fears even within Bilderberg itself that the fallout from such chaos could ultimately result in the globalists losing their control over the world.”

Prior to the Bilderberg Meeting, the Kremlin report continues, most of the West’s wealthiest elite convened at an unprecedented secret meeting in New York called for and led by the staunch New World Orderlist David Rockefeller to plot the demise of the US Dollar and which, strangely, was reported in the US mainstream propaganda media, but to which the dissident American website PrisonPlanet.Com questioned by stating:

To the ‘ultimate’ outcome of the plans of the West’s elite classes, connived under the auspicious of the Nazi backed Bilderberg Group, Russian Intelligence Analysts predict that their fears of “losing control” due to the catastrophic chaos they are embroiling our World in are, indeed, valid, especially since the unleashing upon our Earth’s population the bioengineered H1N1 Swine Flu variant that is continuing its unrelenting march of death and illness across our entire Earth, and when coupled with the total collapse of the Global economic system can only lead to Total War.

Russian President Medvedev has joined calls by China, Brazil, and other Nations, to prepare for the collapse of the US Dollar and has put forth the Russian Ruble as one of a number of International Reserve Currencies to replace the soon to collapse American currency, and as warned about by the St. Petersburg Times News Service:

“Last week, despite the apparent appeal of the dollar in the midst of this global crisis, the U.S. bond market — often a harbinger of future trends — suddenly panicked, and the prices of U.S. Treasury bonds plummeted with 10-year yields jumping to over 3.3 percent. This could be ominous for the future of the dollar.”

Even worse for these American people is how horrific their immediate economic future is going to be, and as best articulated by Gary Dorsch, the editor of Global Money Trends, who writes: “No one is asking who will purchase the $1-trillion of US Treasuries to be offered to the market by September. Once that colossal amount of paper is bought, who will purchase another $5-trillion of Treasury paper over the next four-years, as the US-government plunges deeper into insolvency. The Federal Reserve would be forced to print (monetize) vast quantities of US-dollars to pay the principal and interest on the national debt that is not covered by tax revenue.”

Bloomberg News Service is further reporting today that the concerns of the US Federal Reserve Bank are also growing, and as we can read, “Policy makers, meeting April 28-29 in Washington, saw “significant downside risks” to the outlook for the economy, with the global financial system still “vulnerable to further shocks,” minutes of the session released yesterday said.”

With the US now reporting another record being set in the number of their citizens out of work and claiming unemployment benefits, the true number of American jobless has reached a staggering 15.8% of their workforce with no relief in sight and many Russian analysts predicting a summer of violence due to massive discord among these beleaguered people as once their relief payments run out there exists no more money to pay them.

It is important to note that Great Britain is preceding the US into bankruptcy and is reported close to losing its AAA Credit Rating as it suffers its worst economic crisis since World War II, with the Financial Post issuing a further warning to the Americans, and as we can read:

“The U.S. dollar's day of reckoning may be inching closer as its status as a safe-haven currency fades with every uptick in stocks and commodities and its potential risks - debt and inflation - are brought under a harsher spotlight. Ashraf Laidi, chief market strategist at CMC Markets, said Wednesday a "serious case of dollar damage" was underway. "We long warned about the day of reckoning for the dollar emerging at the next economic recovery," Mr. Laidi said in a note.”

After the deliberate collapsing of the US Dollar, these reports continue, the Bilderberg ‘plan’ for the Global economy rests on what are called Special Drawing Rights issued by the Western controlled International Monetary Fund, and which the Telegraph News Service succinctly warns:

“The International Monetary Fund is poised to embark on what analysts have described as "global quantitative easing" by printing billions of dollars worth of a global "super-currency" in an unprecedented new effort to address the economic crisis.”

Russian economists warn that this IMF attempt to destroy the value of Eastern European, Asian and Middle Eastern economies is ‘doomed to failure’, and now being reported that oil rich Saudi Arabia has now joined Russia, China and Brazil by refusing to lend to this travesty of a bank backed by the West and intent upon massive destruction to obtain their goals.

The American people continue to remain, for the most part, blissfully unaware of catastrophe looming before them and continue to believe the litany of Orwellian lies being poured upon them by their propaganda media organs, never once raising any objection to trillions of dollars that have been stolen from them and which continues to flow the pockets of their political and corporate overlords intent upon destroying, forever, their once great Nation and which the US Federal Reserve Inspector General Elizabeth Coleman stated brazenly before the US Congress that she has “no idea” where $9 Trillion of US taxpayer has gone, or who got it.

But, to the worst actions being done by these witless Americans is their continuing to pay into their bankrupt banks their hard-earned monies which within the next year will cease to have any value whatsoever instead of using what little time they have left to prepare for the many catastrophes to come. And, what makes this especially appalling is that these Americans are continuing to pay their debts so that they can remain good credit risks, while at the same time their banks are bankrupt, their government broke and their way of life changed forever.

THE CIA COMMITS OVER 100,000 SERIOUS CRIMES EACH YEAR

It's no big secret that the Central Intelligence Agency breaks the law. But just how often its does in is a shocker. A Congressional report reveals that the CIA's spooks "engage in highly illegal activities" at least 100,000 times each year (which breaks down to hundreds of crimes every day). Mind you, we aren't talking about run-of-the-mill illegal activities — these are "highly illegal activities" that "break extremely serious laws."

In 1996, the House of Representatives' Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence released a huge report entitled "IC21: The Intelligence Community in the 21st Century." Buried amid hundreds of pages is a single, devastating paragraph:

The CS [clandestine service] is the only part of the IC [intelligence community], indeed of the government, where hundreds of employees on a daily basis are directed to break extremely serious laws in countries around the world in the face of frequently sophisticated efforts by foreign governments to catch them. A safe estimate is that several hundred times every day (easily 100,000 times a year) DO [Directorate of Operations] officers engage in highly illegal activities (according to foreign law) that not only risk political embarrassment to the US but also endanger the freedom if not lives of the participating foreign nationals and, more than occasionally, of the clandestine officer himself.

Amazingly, there is no explanation, no follow-up. The report simply drops this bombshell and moves on as blithely as if it had just printed a grocery list.. One of the world's foremost experts on the CIA — John Kelly, who uncovered this revelation —
notes that this is "the first official admission and definition of CIA covert operations as crimes."
He goes on to say:

The report suggested that the CIA's crimes include murder and that "the targets of the CS
[Clandestine Service] are increasingly international and transnational and a global presence is increasingly crucial to attack those targets." In other words, we are not talking about simply stealing secrets. We are talking about the CIA committing crimes against humanity with de facto impunity and congressional sanctioning. Other government documents, including CIA reports, show that the CIA's crimes include terrorism, assassination, torture, and systematic violations of human rights. The documents also show that these crimes are part and parcel of deliberate CIA policy (the [congressional] report notes that CIA personnel are "directed" to commit crimes).

Why do woman a lot of woman act as if men owe them something?(I am generalizing) Everyone deserves a base-level of respect, but have you ever seen a guy approach a woman (respectfully) and she responds as if she is too good, or gives a look like... 'do you qualify for this?' ... or even worse; she says something demeaning or disrespectful!
This behavior from woman is only perpetuated by the way that many men conduct themselves. You have men that approach woman in such a brash and ignorant manner that the next, nice guy is prejudged before he even opens his mouth. Many men jump through hoops in attempts to gain the attention of a woman and will go to ridiculous lengths to impress; this can give some woman an inflated ego and cause them to think they are 'the gift'. I try to tell younger dudes I talk with, to start placing a higher value on themselves and they will find themselves in a more powerful position when meeting a woman. Woman have convinced men, some where along the line, that their sexuality is much more valuable than mens', so men are required to 'work' for the it. Why can't they work to get what you got, but I digress. Please understand, there is nothing wrong with going out of your way to impress or flatter a person you like, but you should not feel like you owe a person something just to meet them. Some woman like to put men in the 'friend zone' and keep them hanging around, believing '...the guy really wants me, so he will wait or be happy with things on my terms...'

Fellas smarten up! Remember these things the next time you decide to approach a woman you are interested in meeting.

1. Neither you or the woman know each other, don't assume that your not good enough for her or that she looks too good to holla at you.

2. Be respectful, even in the face of her disrespect (if she is that type). You don't know this woman so her disrespectful comments should mean very little to you, look at it as if you got a quick glimpse of the kind of person she is. Also, your calm demeanor and respectfully witty comments may defuse her attitude and you may still leave with a new friend.

3. Woman are attracted to men just as we are to them. Don't be made to feel like you have to go out of your way to live up to her standards. If she is not interested move on.

4. Don't be phony. Fronting like you have more than you do or lying about your age or whatever; to try and increase your success. First impressions are lasting ones and if you set yourself up to be Mr. Baller and big spender, she will expect that from you from that point on. It is better to be true about yourself so if you do 'get in' and do something extra, it is appreciated more because it is in the proper context of who you are and your situation.

5. Don't be afraid to put a woman you just met, in the 'friend zone'. When you temper your advances and carry the woman as if she is a friend, many times, that will peak her interest because you are not making the concerted effort to pursue her. You become some what mysterious!

Nothing is the same for every situation and you have to follow social cues and other indicators of how receptive a person is to your interest in them, but gentleman.... don't sell yourself short. Don't meet a woman and from day one you are trying to meet her standards. The standard should be mutual and if you start off right from the first meet... things my work better! Whether you are interested in the woman for a one-nighter, a hang-out partner, long-term lover, girl friend or wife, if you start off right, you increase your chances of success

If a man just started to go out with a woman (maybe one to four dates) is he expected to stop seeing the other woman that he may have been dealing with at the time he and the new friend met? To take it a step further.... is he wrong, inconsiderate or deceitful if he does not disclose the other woman?.

The less you associate with some people, the more your life will improve. Any time you tolerate mediocrity in others, it increases your mediocrity. An important attribute in successful people is their impatience with negative thinking and negative acting people. As you grow, your associates will change. Your friends will stretch your vision or choke your dream. Those that don't increase you will eventually decrease you.

Consider this:
Never receive counsel from unproductive people. Never discuss your problems with someone incapable of contributing to the solution, because those who never succeed themselves are always first to tell you how. Not everyone has a right to speak into your life. You are certain to get the worst of the bargain when you exchange ideas with the wrong person. Don't follow anyone who's not going anywhere. With some people you spend an evening: with others you invest it. Be careful where you stop to inquire for directions along the road of life. Wise is the person who fortifies his life with the right friendships.

If you run with wolves, you will learn how to howl. But, if you associate with eagles, you will learn how to soar to great heights.

The simple but true fact of life is that you become like those with whom you closely associate - for the good and the bad.

Just know that they are human first and though they are family to you, they may be a friend to someone else and will fit somewhere in the criteria above.

I like PC over MAC

I prefer PC over Mac. I do have both, but the PC world, in my opinion has so much more to offer. Sure, Mac's look more stylish and you could probably get it in your very own, custom color, but there is more to be had and done on PC's...to me. Mac's are relatively thin on games and applications, in relation to PC; Not to mention there is a whole world of freeware that is written for PC. The consensus seems to be that Mac's are better for graphics and music applications and to a power-user that difference noticeable, but for the average user there is not much noticeable difference. I suggest PC to most of my clients because for the average user there is more documentation, software and hardware available for PC, which in turn makes them easier to update and upgrade. Macs are less prone to viruses because virus writers don't see the profit in writing Mac viruses because PCs far outnumber Macs in the 'computing world'. Macs are nice, but better for specialty work or the user that is more concerned with style.

Skinny Jeans !
What a disaster! Don't get me wrong, each generation has their 'different' fashion taste, but when did men and boys become so willing to have to squeeze into their jeans like women and girls. I don't know if I am extra aware of it because of the seemingly increasing percent of very young homosexual boys, but it is both funny and weird at the same time. What is most funny is the fact that it didn't look as homosexual for the white boys when they originated the style because many of them where not as endowed in the butt area as many of these black guys and many of the white boys that rocked the skinny jeans were skinny dudes. Now you got these young black guys that the their butt from their mama wearing these skinny jeans with half of their fat-aSS showing!!! Then the worst is the young dudes that are way over-weight rockin the skinny jeans.... they look like freshly sheathed link sausages. Oh and the skinny jeans look like tights that woman wear, all that is needed is a foot-loop at the bottom!!!! The bottom of the skinny jeans looks like it would be too narrow for dudes to get their feet through. Let me end by saying that I am not stating that all dudes in skinny jeans are gay.... i am just saying it makes them look a little more suspect to me! Just my rant....... DEATH TO SKINNY JEANS.
