The road of happiness

The human being lives thinking he's in a quest for happiness. He gets often confused between happiness and joy, even when he knows that joy is an emotion that cannot last forever, that finds its balance in sadness, and he gets confused again when in his quest for happiness he still chooses to suffer. And then he looks for the smile that will make worth the effort of having suffered that much. But it's only worth to suffer if it's the way you choose, if you live counting on it, if you think of your war marks as honorable to show, if to show that you can stand anything, it's of course a merit. The human being constantly looks for the approval of a pair, even when the act of realizing is personal.
Each one of us chooses our own road, and every act and thought are just a road between many roads. It's one way to suffer, and another to be happy. Joy is a short road, a transition one, a path that links other two roads. To choose to live forever in that little path would imply to stop walking, to stop circulating, because when you would start to walk, you'd see a dead end. But to be truly happy forever, it is possible. And the road of happiness is just that, a road. All choices made along the way will have the peculiarity of being made where they have been, and will follow that way.
On the road of happiness one doesn't look for smiles, because that smile will be motivated by looking anywhere, because the world is full of wonders. On the road of happiness one doesn't feel guilty about another one's suffering, because one knows suffering is just another choice, another road; he is aware, and if he loves the one who suffers, one will try to help, but doesn't feel guilty. One doesn't suppose either that anyone means any harm to oneself, doesn't suppose about one's self importance; one knows who one is because one looks inside with the same eyes one looks outside, one knows that facts are and thought aren't yet, and taking something as true when it's not just brings confusion, just fog on the road.
One that walks the road of happiness doesn't fear death, because one knows it's inevitable, and one's happy walking up to where he is at every step, because he knows he'll never get to walk the whole road. Then oneself thinks at oneself's death as motivation, not as something terrible, because remembering that this act might as well be the last will take oneself to make one's biggest effort, will take oneself to stop lying to oneself, to improve one's spirit until the last second. One who walks the road of happiness is not afraid to move, because he knows something good is waiting ahead.
What a pity, the fool who lives happy in his happy in his absence of self knowledge, because he will never get to walk this road.

El camino de la felicidad

El ser humano vive creyendo que busca la felicidad. Confunde muchas veces la felicidad con la alegría, aún cuando sabe que la alegría es una emoción que no puede durar eternamente, que encuentra su equilibrio en la tristeza, y vuelve a confundirse cuando buscando la felicidad elige sufrir. Y luego busca la sonrisa que haga que valga la pena haber sufrido tanto. Pero sólo vale la pena sufrir si es el camino que se elige, si se vive teniéndolo en cuenta, si resulta honroso mostrar marcas de guerra, si aguantar representa un mérito frente a los demás. Busca constantemente la aprobación del prójimo, aún cuando el acto de darse cuenta es personal.
Cada uno elige su camino, y cada acto y cada pensamiento sólo son un camino entre muchos caminos. Es un camino el sufrir, y es otro el ser feliz. La alegría es un camino corto, de transición, un camino que une otros dos. Elegir vivir para siempre en ese pequeño camino implicaría dejar de caminar, dejar de transitar, porque apenas se comience a andar, el camino se acaba. Pero ser feliz para siempre sí es posible. Y el camino de la felicidad es justamente eso, un camino. Las decisiones hechas a lo largo de ese camino tendrán la particularidad de estar hechas donde lo están, y serán para seguir en ese camino.
En el camino de la felicidad uno no busca sonreír, porque esa sonrisa se motivará mirando cualquier cosa que mire, porque el mundo está lleno de maravillas. En el camino de la felicidad uno no se siente culpable del sufrimiento ajeno, porque sabe que el sufrimiento es otra decisión, es otro camino; está al tanto, y si tiene amor por el que sufre, intentará ayudar, pero no se siente culpable. No supone tampoco que nadie quiere hacerle nada, no supone lo importante que es; sabe quién es porque mira para adentro con los mismos ojos con los que mira para afuera, sabe que los hechos son y los pensamientos todavía no, y tomarse como cierto algo que no lo es sólo produce confusión, sólo niebla en el camino. El que transita el camino de la felicidad no tiene miedo de morir, porque sabe que es inevitable, y es feliz caminando lo que ha caminado, porque sabe que nunca logrará recorrer el camino entero. Entonces piensa en su muerte como motivación, no como algo terrible, porque el recordar que el acto que está llevando a cabo puede bien ser el último lo llevará a poner todo su esfuerzo, a no mentirse más, a mejorar su espíritu hasta el último segundo. El que transita el camino de la felicidad no tiene miedo de moverse, porque sabe siempre que algo bueno le espera más adelante.
Pobre del necio que vive feliz en su ignorancia, porque nunca conocerá este camino.

Intentaré siempre publicar estas entradas en castellano y en inglés, siendo el castellano mi idioma nativo, de todas maneras entiendo que en muchos países no lo hablan, y la mayoría de websites se encuentran en inglés, un idioma extendido si los hay. Sobre todo para internet.

I will always try to publish these entries both in spanish and english, as spanish is my native language, but I understand most web sites are usually read in english in most countries that don't speak in any of these two, since english is such an extended languague used on internet.

Ok, comencemos.
Soy tatuadora (en la imagen se pueden ver mis manitos sobre el brazo de mi última víctima, ay perdón, quiero decir, sobre el brazo de Julián). E ilustradora. Pero antes de ser cualquiera de estas dos, era una admiradora de los tatuajes, y de la ilustración. De pequeña me fascinaba el hecho de poder llevar una historia contada sobre la piel, de tener una obra de arte encima hasta el día de visita a la tumba. Y el hecho de poder decir tanto sin palabras. Cosas que me siguen fascinando al día de hoy.
Los tatuajes cuentan la historia personal, llevan un significado, ya sea por el diseño, el momento en que hayan sido hechos, o por el sólo hecho de llevarlos en la piel. Brindemos por este arte ancestral. Salud y larga vida a los tattoos! Y a seguir dibujando, que la práctica hace al maestro.

Ok, let's start.
I'm a tattoo artist (you can see in the picture my hands on the arm of my last victim, oh, sorry, on Julian's arm). And an illustrator. But long before becoming any of these two, I was a big fan of tattoos and illustration. When I was a child, I was fascinated with the fact of being able to carry a story on the skin, to wear a work of art until the day the visit to the grave came. And to be able to tell all those things without words. All that still amazes me.
Tattoos tell each one's personal history, they all have a meaning, which can be seen on the design, or by the moment it was done, or just by carrying a tattoo around on your skin. Let's toast for this ancestral form of art. Cheers, and long life to tattoos! And keep drawing, practice makes masters.
