... me as a mermaid :) This is partly a development from my "Self Portrait with Insect(s)" series, and a bloom from a conversation I had with my father. We have very light blue eyes, (that hurt in bright sunlight), and skin that will burn (badly) if we stay in the sun with no sunblock.

So I think out-loud, "Where on earth can we have come from that our skin and eyes never quite developed a tolerance for the sun?" And even though my father and I both know the true genetic tendencies that give us these traits, we decided that we must come from the ocean. I like that idea better than the dominant/recessive gene explanation, (I also like picturing my ancestors frollicking in the froth rather than living in lands where the sun didn't necessarily shine all the time...)

So, that said, this is also an experimental piece that will lead to a more effects laden final, as well as a soundtrack... (coming soonish)

This video was so fun and cool to make that I thought I'd share :) It was a collaboration between my boyfriend, Adam Grinovich, (on concept, metal sculpture/jewelry and music) Mark Wuerthner as Director of Photography and me as director and editor. We made it for broadcast on satellite TV last year, and I still like it.

This is possibly the best, most revealing portrayal of the insiders perspective of this full-on disaster (in addition to being an incredible song anyway).

Playing on Kanye West's ad-lib on nationwide television, this is an excellent criticism of our government's internationally public failure on the homefront.

At the moment, this song is floating around the internet without any artist's name attached, but when I find out I will give credit where it is undoubtedly due.

This was a lovely sunny day out on the ocean. My boyfriend Adam and I were visiting family in Maine and went for a sail with my dad. It's just a quick teeny video of the scenery, but it makes me happy and wish I was there again :)

Once upon a time, I began working at a job that made me a little sad. In addition to the sadness, I had to get up very early in the morning, so I could no longer go out with my friends at night. (poo) But my friends are amazing, and would send me videos while I was at work so that I could watch them on my lunch break. They cheered me up quite a bit :)

I love the aquarium

Back in the amazing days when I worked a block away from the New England Aquarium (amazing mainly beacuse of the aquarium...), I used to go there every day for lunch. I took a few videos of their lovely creatures to share with the rest of you :) Enjoy!
