The Magellanic Penguins go about their daily lives on Magdalena Island, between Chile and Tierra del Fuego where they live.

They mainly make nests in burrows in the soil. They are vulnerable to predators such as sea lions, giant petrels and leopard seals.

They eat fish, squid and crustaceans. Overfishing in certain areas has led to a decline in their numbers.

The Galapagos petrel is an endemic marine bird that nests in areas of high humidity in the highlands (generally above 200 metres (660 ft) elevation) of five islands of the Galapagos Archipelago (islands San Cristóbal, Santa Cruz, Santiago, Floreana, and Isabela). In the past, the petrel population was severely affected by introduced mammals. Controls at the islands try to limit the introduction of foreign animals and plant life.

Their inquisitive and social nature makes them more likely to approach areas inhabited by humans, and thus come into contact with human waste, fishing nets, and hooks. El Nino caused many population decreases by changing the sea lion's availability for food, causing these Galapagos Sea Lions to be listed as endangered.
