1. If the database is still up, do a shutdown abort now.

2. Edit the init.ora file for this instance (or config.ora in an ifile
configuration).

Find the CONTROL_FILES parameter and modify it to include
just ONE copy of the control file that you have reasons to
believe is up-to-date. For example, if you only have two
mirrored copies X and Y of the control file:

CONTROL_FILES = (X, Y)

and you know you have accidentally overwritten X with an old
copy, make

CONTROL_FILES = (Y)

If you are not sure about it, choose any one of the control file
copies and remove or comment out all the other copies from the
CONTROL_FILES parameter.

3. Start up the database in restricted mode.

STARTUP RESTRICT

If the database comes up fine, move on to Step 4.

If instead you get ORA-1122, ORA-1110, and ORA-1207, go back to
Step 2 and make the CONTROL_FILES parameter point to another one
of the mirrored copies. If you have already tried each and
every one of the mirrored copies unsuccessfully, you must create
a new control file for the database. See the Solution Reference
to PR entry 1012929.6 ("How to Recreate the Control File").

If you get ORA-1113 and ORA-1110 pointing to one of the datafiles,
it means the copy of the control file you picked is good, but
the referenced datafile must be recovered before the database can be
opened. Try issuing a RECOVER DATABASE command and applying the
logs you are prompted for. You may have to resort to the online
logs to complete media recovery. For further details, see the
Solution Reference to PR entry 1012943.6 on ORA-1113. Once the
datafile is recovered, issue an ALTER DATABASE OPEN.

4. Shut the database down (normal or immediate).

5. Make all copies of the control file consistent.

Copy the good mirrored copy of the control file that you just used
to bring the database up onto all other copies, as originally listed
in the CONTROL_FILES parameter of your init.ora file (or config.ora
in an ifile configuration).

6. Restore the CONTROL_FILES parameter to its original value.

Edit the init.ora file for this instance (or config.ora in an ifile
configuration) to make the CONTROL_FILES parameter include
all mirrored copies of the control file again.

7. Start up the database.

- reconnect using sqlplus if ora-12514, check environment variable and look at lsnrctl services does service_name is correct re arrange listener.ora put global_dbname at first
- fail during startup with ora-01113 and ora-01110 from sqlplus use recover datafile 'path corrupt data'; then recover database or shutdown database and startup again
- check select status from v$instance; it should be mounted
- ORA-01109 database not open. manual way : alter database open;

This is how i made dynamic menu, data is retrieve from oracle database generated by usermenu.php, with json as data output using standard php json_encode. Result menu data is setup relate to user login id so output will be differ depends on login id.

- port 22 konflik dengan IPv6, env yang digunakan IPv4 : disable ipv6 melalui konfigurasi sshd_config comment ListenAddress ::, activate ListenAddress 0.0.0.0

- Jika menggunakan /etc/host.allow daftarkan IP host di file tersebut

Shrinking Oracle Temp tablespace

Oh My Goodness! Look at the size of my temporary table space! Or... how to shrink temporary tablespaces in Oracle.

Yes I ran a query to see how big my temporary tablespace is:

The first question you have to ask is why the temporary tablespace is so large. You may know the answer to this off the top of your head. It may be due to a large query that you just run with a sort that was a mistake (I have done that more than once.) It may be due to some other exceptional circumstance. If that is the case then all you need to do to clean up is to shrink the temporary tablespace and move on in life.

But what if you don't now? Before you decide to shrink you may need to do some investigation into the causes of the large tablespace. If this happens on a regular basis then it is possible that your database just needs that much space.

The dynamic performance view

V$TEMPSEG_USAGE
can be very useful in determining the cause.

Maybe you just don't care about the cause and you just need to shrink it. This is your third day on the job. The data in the database is only 200Mib if data and the temporary tablespace is 13GiB - Just shrink it and move on. If it grows again then we will look into the cause. In the mean time I am out of space on that disk volume and I just need the space back.

Let's take a look at shrinking it. It will depend a little on what version of Oracle you are running and how the temporary tablespace was set up.
Oracle will do it's best to keep you from making any horrendous mistakes so we will just try the commands and if they don't work we will shrink in a new way.

First let's try to shrink the datafile. If we can do that then we get back the space and we can worry about why it grew tomorrow.

Depending on the error message you may want to try this with different sizes that are smaller than the current site of the file. I have had limited success with this. Oracle will only shrink the file if the temporary tablespace is at the head of the file and if it is smaller than the size you specify. Some old Oracle documentation (they corrected this) said that you could issue the command and the error message would tell you what size you could shrink to. By the time I started working as a DBA this was not true. You just had to guess and re-run the command a bunch of times and see if it worked.

Alright. That didn't work. How about this.

SQL> alter tablespace YOUR_TEMP_TABLESPACE_NAME shrink space keep 256M;
If you are in 11g (Maybee in 10g too) this is it! If it works you may want to go back to the previous command and give it some more tries.

But what if that fails. If the temporary tablespace is the default temporary that was set up when the database was installed then you may need to do a lot more work. At this point I usually re-evaluate if I really need that space back. After all disk space only costs $X.XX a GiB. Usually I don't want to make changes like this during production hours. That means working at 2AM AGAIN! (Not that I really object to working at 2AM - it is just that... Well I like to sleep too. And my wife likes to have me at home at 2AM... not roaming the downtown streets at 4AM trying to remember where I parked my car 3 hours earlier. I have heard of that "telecommuting" thing. I just worry that I will get half way through and then my internet connectivity will fail - then I have to rush downtown to fix it all before folks show up in the morning to use the database.)

Ok... Back to the serious stuff... If the temporary tablespace you want to shrink is your default temporary tablespace, you will have to first create a new temporary tablespace, set it as the default temporary tablespace then drop your old default temporary tablespace and recreate it. Afterwords drop the second temporary table created.

SQL> ALTER DATABASE DEFAULT TEMPORARY TABLESPACE temp2;

SQL> DROP TABLESPACE temp INCLUDING CONTENTS AND DATAFILES;

Tablespace dropped.

SQL> CREATE TEMPORARY TABLESPACE temp
2 TEMPFILE '/the/full/path/to/temp01.dbf' SIZE 256M REUSE
3 AUTOEXTEND ON NEXT 128M MAXSIZE unlimited
4 EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL UNIFORM SIZE 1M;

Tablespace created.

SQL> ALTER DATABASE DEFAULT TEMPORARY TABLESPACE temp;

Database altered.

PHP Session Variable Value Lost Internet Explorer

Recently i met a condition in PHP where session variable value is lost, since the variable is used for storing login session id so user must login again if that value is lost, this issue only happen with Internet Explorer not with other browser.

After googling and reading many articles there are lots of similar condition occur with different cause such as redirecting with header assign, P3P issue, using Frameset and so on...but my condition is different. I never suspect that using blank image source at img tag will cause this. So i thought it probably useful sharing this info for others. I try to confirm this issue by reading http://php.net/manual/en/ref.session.php and there is one user with exact problem like me.

This snippet will cause Internet Explorer erasing Session variable value when user move to other menu, so to solve this is really simple just put initialization source value for the tag, in my case img tag will load dynamic png image generated from other page.

Thats it...its harder finding the problem then to solve it....
