It's not the length of time you stay in this world that matters, your memory exists. If we live a short life here on earth for sure your rendered commendable service serve a purpose according to God's plan even if we live a short life here on earth. It is not the length of years which matters in life but it is the quality of life that is important. The kind of life we lead makes us see and appreciate the meaning of life.

All his life, he struggled with poor health; he always had a frail constitution. Although born in province, the north side of Pangasinan, and he went schooling in the military service Special Action Force contingent seeking to improve his health and he made it. He tried his best as well known brave soldier finally settled down and assigned into different regions in the Philippines.

Chapter Five

Krisssandra started awake from a deep sleep, shivering and sweating. She looked around the house, dimly lit by the small “gasera”, a table lamp. Her nightmare brought tears to her eyes, and she heard Crisanta call her.

“What is wrong?” she asked her.”You called out in your sleep.”

Her breath came in short grasps so at first she could not reply; for she was still filled with the terror of the dream, and a whimper rose from her throat. Crisanta waited no longer, but went inside, without her invitation, to find her sitting wide-eyed on her bed of blanket, looking around at the floor as though something were after her. Crisanta went to her side, grasping her arms. She choked out another cry.

“Keep off me!” she murmured. Crisanta looked around the house.

“Keep off me!” She shook her lightly. “Wake up, Krissandra. You only dream.”

She looked at her with frightened eyes that began to focus on their true target, and she finally realized she had indeed been dreaming. But there was something about it that remained ominous to her.

“Ipis!”(cockroach) she whispered. “There were…’ipis’…all over around me! Crawling over me!”

She frowned. “It’s just an ipis… so what!”

“I… don’t know,” she answered, searching her eyes. “But I… I feel it has something to do with fate…a bad omen. I remember my father told me before. Take care of yourself and your husband. Yhecho… I am afraid something terrible happened to him.

She squeezed her arms. “If you feel this is so, then I will call the elders together and we will hold a prayer, we will offer prayers to all the spirits to watch over you and Yhecho since he is on training. Don’t be afraid… believe in HIM. We will send it to him, and we will be strong!”

Give me courage, Crisanta!” Divine Arrow is watching over us. She prayed silently. “Fill me with your great strength, and remember thaty in my vision I was protected by the great Arrow! Help me now, my Father, in Heaven, in my moment of great need!”

“You can overcome this, Krissandra, You must, for I am always here for you.”

“Crisanta!” she whispered, tears filling her eyes.she must be calm and not panic.

For hours she lay there, praying and feeling warmth and power flooding through her.

Yhecho is in danger.”Give me a hand Saldivar!”We need to leave this place as soon as possible.All around him he could see nothing but the deeper pit. He could not be certain just how long they stayed in that foxhole. But he could sensed that he move too quickly, he would be detect by armed men few miles away from their area. Without changing his position and thereby risking his life for the combat they are in. Brave elite force (SAF,Special Action Force) not afraid to fight for the people …for the country.He could not know what was behind them.But he would not lay there and die and rot in that stinking hole with rifles as his graveside partners! He had to get out! Even if it was so impossible he crawled, he would have time to reach the edge before the enemy noticed them.At least that way he could die above ground and aimed his weapon to the enemy’s position. Upon hearing unusual sounds of explosion he took a deep breath and reached out for a ledge on the wall of the pit.He got a firm hold with his left hand. “Nothing lives long, nothing stays here,” he chanted again. Where are my comrades, my buddy?”Shunning all fear of the war, scrambling towards freedom into the wonderful, warm sunshine! How he wanted to cry out with his joy! He was above the ground! He was free and alive, and cries of joy and laughter pushed at his throat for release. He takes a moment to compose him and determine whether anyone was still around before deciding what his next move would be. He heard similar whispers his comrades, his buddies no one drop dead for this battle. “They were alive, Thank you, God!”

“Yhannie , look!” Crisanta called out.” “It is a sign! It is a good sign. Long live Yhecho! It is good a good sign.”

The lighted candle, this is a good sign! She looked up the Divine Arrow.”Our prayers have helped Yhecho. Thank you, God!” she whispered, her heart feeling lighter. She prayed that the lighted candle in the altar was a good sign. And she weep, she heard Crisanta telling her, “This is a good sign.””I weep with joy.” She said.

Chapter Twenty (20)

“It is wise to think of such things. What would you do if I did not come back to you?”

Illa’s heart tightened.”I… suppose I’d give all but a few of Yhecho’s belongings was left in their private pad. And then I’d have you take you with me to my mother in Maricaban maybe at Seventh Street…. And I’d find a way not to let Krissandra notice our plans. I try to find way to get home to get some of my stuff and the car and we will travel goin no where… hmmm maybe to our place… home to Tara.” Her eyes teared at the terrible thought of Ycho not coming back.”I… have a cousin there.” We can also stay the next town for us to be safe.”

Yhecho stop and grasped the reins of her own mount, making her stop. He stayed back with Illa. “I do not say these things to make you sad,” he told her. “I say them to make you think.” He waves his arm to Illa’s face.”Look if we will leave together… you think it is the best decision? You think you won’t feel regret? What about your family…Your husband…Your children and your work…or that you could even leave your commitments and responsibilities. “Tell me Ycho that you could go back to your family and forget us… forget this affair, and the dreams … the plans. Tell me Yhecho that you could truly do this, whether with me or without me.”

Their eyes held in a moment of understanding. “I don’t know, Illa. I just don’t know.”

“I say you do know. I say already your heart belongs here. You belong to me. I say already you know what you will do. You know whats your decision will be when you come for this relationship. You owe me and I owe you a lot. If this is a mistake… I won’t allow anyone to ruin our relationship. If this is wrong well I don’t really care…. What I know is I love you … I love you Yhecho and I really can’t afford to lose you… my dear Ycho.

She suddenly realized she was trying to help him decide. “Thank you.” He told her quietly. He thought a trace of a smile passed her lips, but Ycho did not smile easily, and it was hard to tell. He just keeps silent and gives Illa a stare and he deep breathes … trying to recall the past… What have he done? What makes his life miserable this time? Leaving his own family and forget his wife Krissandra... This is not fair!

“If ever Krissandra knows all about this…what do you think will happen? If I will not return to my family, I belong to them and you to your family? He asked, suppressing a grin when he lay his gun on the table. He turned to look at her surprised eyes.

“I would belong to no one but to you!” she answered defiantly.

“You are Yhecho’s woman not a wife. I am Krissandra’s husband and you have given her over a lot of trouble… disrespect and we both cheated her. I could make you as my woman but not my wife, if I wished… it won’t be realized no matter what we do... still were not forever.

She raises her eyebrow and got her penny.”Not without my consent. Besides, you don’t want me for a wife than you’d want me as your woman… your mistress…Exactly, right.” It was hard to tell where a man likes Yhecho to make decision… an embarrassment for both of them. With courage and enough money we could settle down on a piece of land or find a small apartment maybe near Evangelista. Illa could rent a new apartment there. Perhaps they could be together and he could give her the comforts of a lover’s dwelling, yet they would still be among the partners by purpose most of the time. There were some of their friends and relatives who are settlers down on Maricaban, and she would be safe near Evangelista’s Street. It seemed as though she want to know Yhecho’s decision. Will he accept the plan! But that would have to wait. The waiting would be difficult and she is worried about how he would wait for it.

Chapter 2

His smile faded, as the pain of the memory of meeting Krissandra (Yhannie) on that trip in a love bus along Ortigas Avenue many years ago shot through his heart unexpectedly. He looked extensively to the wedding picture displayed in the desk. “I… huhm… I ended up getting married after the courtship ‘pamamanhikan’; a custom symbolizes honor and respect for the parents of Yhannie. It is a traditional ‘marrying into the clan’ a painstaking extravagant legal exception for me, Captain Moore.

“Well,Congratulations!” Captain Moore told him putting out his hand. “And who is the lucky ‘Ilocana’ maiden?”

Yhecho met the man’s eyes and did not shake his hand right away. “She’s not an Ilocana,” Yhecho answered. “She’s from Cebu, a ‘Cebuana’.

Captain’s smile faded for a moment. “A bisaya?”

Yhecho nodded. “I met her on the love bus three days before my birthday; I went to ‘Baclaran Church’ praying mama Mary to give me the right woman for me. It was 8:30 in the morning before I proceed to Santolan for my medical checkup. That moment I couldn’t keep my eyes off her while I standing near where she is sitting with two other passengers. I am waiting for the passengers to vacate the place. She almost lost and run away when she noticed that I am running for her. Without her consent I followed her until she reaches her aunt house in Alabang. It was not easy for me to ask her approval to be my girlfriend. Every time I visit her, her aunt lay their sleeping mat in the living room and sometimes pass the bed pan maybe that is the sign for me to leave. And I found out that she was there also in ‘Baclaran Church’ all the way from Alabang for her devotion only to find out that she was also praying to give her the right man to love . It was 9:00 in the morning the same day, Tuesday July 21 three days before my birthday when I was in Baclaran Church. What a coincidence, she ended up having the same feeling for me.” But that was after years of courtship.

Captain smiled again.”Well, where is she now? I’d like to meet this woman who snagged a wild warrior and brave soldier like you!”

Yhecho grinned sadly, “She uh…. She’s with my cousins and relatives right now also with my sister and my mom.

“I see,” The man put out his hand again. “Well, like I said, congratulations, Yhecho. I’m happy for you and to your life. I sincerely hope she’ll be able to have more children. For I know you’re the only son and the only man who will carry your family name.

Yhecho met his eyes and saw the sincerity in him. He shook the man’s hand. “Thank you, Captain Moore” and he returned the wedding picture on Captain Moore’s table.

“Well, what brings you here soldier?” asked Captain.”Well, I’m interested to the position you offer. I’ll accept it. I know, me and Yhannie will move to the City for good as soon as possible.” “Alright, Yhecho just follow the order and your officer you will take the command responsibility of your unit in your next assignment. You’re a good soldier, a brave one! No one can question in your integrity and command responsibility brave soldier. Life in the city awaits you and your Yhannie. Good luck!”

Mack smiled. “You don’t understand. To begin with, team is easy to find, I’ll admit. But they’re all from military school, receives merit awards and recognition in the battle field, you see. I need buddy, a buddy who thinks like an Army SAF, an Action Force, commence with men, and understands men.” I figure a man like you; well he’d get on better with whatever soldiers he might run up against, and know how to handle better than the Soldiers in the field. A man like you would know how to avoid trouble because you’d understand them, how they think, where they go and all, you’d trained for that.”

“I don’t understand what you’re driving at. Why can’t you choose another man instead of me? I’m not an officer!”

“Well, I just had a feeling you’re the right man for the job. How about it? As you said …Yhannie, you’re wife is four months pregnant. It is very difficult for her to travel from the city and stay in this mountain camp! She cannot resign in her job and to give up everything just for you, be considerate. City is your place. There is a new life awaits you for the future of your children.”

Yhecho pushed his army hat back from his forehead. “All right then. As God is my witness, I accept the challenge, my new assignment, Captain.”

Yhecho write a message to Yhannie and give it to the mailman. He is very much excited to move in the City with Yhannie. He is feeling better all the time about the trip with his new assignment. He could settle down on a unit- awarded to him maybe near The Fort. He could buy car for Yhannie maybe a second hand car once his loan approved.

“Yhannie can transfer to a nice office near their place. With her condition she needs care and attention. Perhaps they could be together and he could give her the comfort of a sincere, family loving husband like me.” Yet they would still be among the low ranking Non Officer most of the time. There were few relatives settlers of Yhannie in the City, and she would be safe if we choose near The Fort. It seemed as though his answers were finally coming. How he longed to see Yhannie and ask her about it! It would be a long time before he saw his Yhannie again. From Tacurong to Negros Oriental then to Cebu and finally to National Capital Region is a long way to travel. The waiting would be difficult and he is worried about how Yhannie would fare alone with the “city life” until he returned. - To be continued…

Ylla was not surprised when trouble came, for it had followed her all the way to Aguinaldo; and seldom did Yhecho nurture anywhere without finding it close at hand. They were only four days from where Yhecho figured they would come upon his own team when he suddenly glance to his mobile; its Krissandra’s(Yhannie) Yhecho's wife sms, disturbed and confused, he ignore Yhannie's messages then he look closer looking out the arrow pointing the sign on the other side of the road. Ylla is there waiving her hand to Yhecho.

Yhecho cross the street and stared to Ylla extensively. Yhecho finally spoke up scanning the things Ylla brought from Tara. “I don’t like surprises.”

Ylla already know Yhecho, that he love surprises, He is a man who could take on so many others and still don’t break promises. If they did not stay alert, Ylla’s friends and companions could see them at any time, perhaps later to be on media or people will talk about them. She pulled her umbrella from her bag. Ylla knew, she needs to be careful and conscious.

Yhecho Park his 'Toyota' red car in one quick movement “we’d best stay in this place, in the trees,” he told her. These places tell me it hasn’t been long since they were here. My men are they’re far enough ahead that they don’t know we’re here, but we can’t take chances. From now on keep your voice low and do everything I tell you.”

“I’m not afraid,” she replied quietly. I’m with you.” He shot her a glance that should take off the worry in her eyes, “I’m with you and I’ll take care of you.”

“That all it took to help me a years back, as I recall.”

“I had surprises you a lot. I am the first one to know how your husband treated you. And it is right to fight with him. Don’t worry I am always here with you.” You fantasize too much.” He replied.

“I haven’t had one fantasy about you yet that didn’t turn out to be true, “she told him. He just grinned and shook his head heading driving forward beneath the old Acacia tree.

It was cold in the hotel when they stayed for the night. He could not take Ylla to any place except the Oceanic Palm Hotel in the City.

“I thought the dinner and a drink is coming up”. Ylla told him as they sat close together near the flat screen LG LCD TV displayed.

Yhecho laughed lightly. “You make it sound like young lovers. But if you want to use the phrase, they did ‘coming up’, so you speak for your freedom." Ylla take a swallow of water and announces. “I expect the staff department have sent out representatives by now to attend this spectacular event and we will meet for the activities, as their leader.

I’m hoping that tomorrow will rain so that you and I won’t go out the whole day, and Yhecho stared lavishly to Ylla.”I have plans, I’ll bring you to the nicest place here tomorrow and we will visit my cousin’s tower,they are your close friends.

Ylla sighed, “I don’t understand why you do this to me, even your mother and sister likes me too, it’s so amazing!

Yhecho pulled her closer, “its love, Ylla. Soldiers have been good lovers and gentle for all you know. It’s true, caring, loving and protecting whatever is our desire. I hope someday you’ll, understand how I think, my belief, and desire. It’s a beautiful thing when you get to know me better, my Ylla.”

“You’re a brave soldier, has closeness with nature and all living things that most army men have never experienced and never will.

Courage and braveness is just of an ongoing part of life and death and religion and wishes and all of it. He let go of her and moved out from under the blanket, walking over to his ‘chi mine’. Seriously looking at Ylla, while pulling her near to him.

“To someone like you it would be. “ She did not see his eyes peering into the surrounding shadows of his hand; he’d walk to the door to check the knob, then after a while he walked slowly back to her, trying to figure out her looks, while teasing her.

“Someday we will stop this foolishness, and walk together facing for our own mistakes, I feel it in my heart, my mind refuses but my heart dictates me.”

“The same thing that happened to me too, and every time I open my eyes, I see your face. I am confused and worried about you, your health, and your sickness. I can’t help but cries, I want to take care of you, I want to take her place, not her anymore but me instead. Until here there’s no place for me, for us. How can we ‘let go’, tell me?”

“Oh, Yhecho, I hope there’s a place for us, somewhere a place for us.”

“So do I. But I don’t think so, what about Nick, your husband?" Ooh!, For now, you shouldn’t worry too much about us, about this relationship when you’re with me, Alright!”

She smiled with pride. “That’s already obvious from the times I’ve see you smiling like that, my soldier warrior.” She quickly turned her head to look up at him, and turned her back around and lean on his shoulder wrapped his arm around her body while she is pulling his head toward her face and she whispers, “I’m always here for you, my Yhecho.”

She blinked back tears and swallowed, afraid for herself and for Yhecho. It was obvious now that someone or somehow, she couldn’t imagine how Krisssandra (Yhannie), the innocent martyr wife of Yhecho knew this affair. Krissandra(Yhannie) works in the same department, Ylla is the boss while krissandra (Yhannie) work as a staff assigned in the other branch.

Divine Arrow .chapter 25…

“I did not think you would truly do it!” she hissed through gritted teeth.” I watched to see if you would be such a fool!”She threw her umbrella.”Salbahe! You have done a bad thing, soldier! A bad thing! You give such trouble now! Who will be affected? You’re not thinking. Get out of here!”

Yhecho clenched his fists in anger and spoke quietly through clenched teeth, his mind is screaming for Yhannie. Yhecho was angry with her now! They would all be angry with her! Who was there to protect her? Perhaps a woman’s punishment for looking upon the gun was death, and perhaps they would not wait for Yhannie’s kin before they buried her at stake or locked her in a closet or threw her out in the building while she was yet alive! Her mind raced with vision of all the horrible things they might choose to do to her, and she dashed into the main door holding the door knob while her mother in law chokes her neck. She stop breathing because her mother in law squeezing her throat and trying to pull her short red brown hair. Yhannie unconsciously remove the arm squeezing her neck and run out the door holding the door knob, she want to go back inside to get her children. She heard them screaming and crying horribly. Run for your live! “There is no elevator without sleepers she run as much as she can, worried and frightened.

She heard running outside and scooted into the corner, grabbing up his carbine and making ready to fire it. In the next moment Yhecho darted inside, and she could hear a great commotion outside. She is in the first floor of the building but she heard the screaming and crying of the children. She want to go back not afraid anymore if Yhecho will pointed the rifle at her, her breathing coming in quick, frightened gasps, tears staining her face.

“I …. Beg you… don’t do it….I honor you!” If you want separation I will give you freedom just set us free!” she screamed at him. “I …. Had to see them! I had to… see them!” her words came out in choked sobs.

Yhecho’s eyes burned into her, and his hand gripped a quirt tightly. “I should whip you for this!”

This house belongs to us, this is a conjugal property, why selling this? Why can’t you decide for your own? Why until now you’re listening to her… to them? Now, it’s up to you to decide what to do with this family. I am leaving you!”

“You are my property and my responsibility while I am gone! You make me look bad!” I am working with this family! I am sick and pain kills me. Why don’t you give me freedom! I want to enjoy my life!”

“You saw my messages to Ylla? I am just getting my property; I am just fighting for my rights! You want to stop me?”

“Because… I wished to see how much of a fool you still are, my dear!”

“My intentions were good! Something made me do what I did. A power stronger than I. Something made me send messages for her to stop her intentions to ruin our relationship, if she made decided to dream to become as your legal wife … well then I need to stop her! Don’t you understand?” Her body jerked in a sob. How she wanted Yhecho to get apart from Ylla! Never she had she felt so utterly desolate and set apart, not even when she had lost her dad three years ago. “Something… wanted me to understand his secret affair with Ylla…the power… the root of the prowess!” Yhannie yelled at Yhecho.” I couldn’t stop myself!”

Yhecho studied her silently; then he turned and barked something to the feverish, army soldiers outside their home came to rescue Yhannie and her children. They exchanged words of argument; Yhecho turned again and walked straight over to her, he keep his rifle before the army soldier came to talk to him for investigation. Yhannie looked at her mother in law, feel sad while she recalls that she ducked down, putting her arms over her head, and waiting for the sting of the girt. But she felt nothing.

A moment later she looks at him, he sit down and get pen and paper writing an affidavit of the mistakes he made asking sorry again for what he have done while grasping the back of her neck. She stiffened and stared at him.

“Tell me, my wife. Tell me what you think of prowess men. “I am your wife, your legal wife. And you did do something wrong! You looked upon the sacred arrows! No woman looks at the arrows, and to have it be a woman like me… unequipped.” His hands went into fists.

“I tell you I’ve done nothing wrong! Something made me do that, Yhannie I was tempted to do that thing. For all those days I’ve done nothing but think about my mistakes, my sins, the things about you told me…about the life…eternal life , the salvation and healing power for my sickness. About all things moving in one direction, step together. Today… I had to see the arrows! I don’t know why. I wasn’t trying to dishonor your beliefs. I just had to see Him. And when I DID, I FELT SOMETHING…. I Like if I…. if I looked upon His face … Jesus, my savior my salvation.

Some of the anger left his eyes.”I have heard he was a great man who believes in Jesus, like Sweet Medicine.” He will be cured and saved. Jesus is very powerful. Yhannie’s heart tightened. “I… I suppose I’d… I’d give all but a few of our properties and belongings to you, I cannot give you all ... you neglected us for a long time. Where were you when I needed you most? You don’t care about the children .. they are growing, they were much affected of this situation .You neglected them .However, I did not complain nor even request for assistance. We waited... and waited for you to come with us. And then I’d have to stay to Abby’s Garden for a couple of years…then to the Fort…and I’d find a way to get back home…to San Jose,” Her eyes teared at the terrible thought of Yhecho not coming back.”I… have a cousin there, forget about the kids I can take care of them. If that is your decision its alright.”

" Yhecho turn on the engine of his red car sounds coming from his car could break my eardrum. That was too loud and out of control. I step back and wave my hand.” I’ll go now!” in a loud voice.

Yhecho stops the car engine and shout, “I do not say these things to make you sad,” he told her, “I say them to make you think,” He waved his arm across the skyline ahead of them.”It’s over Yhannie , I made my decision, I’m leaving you and its final. Yhannie felt empty and barren held Yhecho’s hand and said, “Look out there and tell me that you could leave this place, or that you could even leave our children. Tell me now that you could go back to our place and forget us; forget this relationship, the children, and the house. Tell me that you could truly do this, whether with Ylla or without her. She is married both of you are married. Come to think of it! Wake up Yhecho wake up!

Their eyes held in a moment of understanding.”I do not know, Yhannie. I just don’t know.”

“I say you do know. I say already your heart belongs her now, I say already you know what you will do, you know what your decision will be when you comes for this woman,”

She suddenly realized she was trying to help him decide.

“Thank you,” she told quietly. She thought a trace of a smile passed his lips, but Yhecho did not smile easily, and it was hard to tell. He let go of his emotion and started walking with Yhannie going back to their house again.

Yhannie to Yhecho, “Do you know that if you do not return, you will belong to Ylla now?” he asked, suppressing a grin when she stared at him. He turned to look at her surprised eyes.

“I would belong to no one but myself!” he answered defiantly.

“You are married to me, I am married to you and we have children. I could make a move to put you down."

To her surprise he laughed loudly, a rare sound from the man’s lips.”You are right!” he answered. He forward for a short way ahead for her, then face back to her. He frowned and said, “Do you know what you have said? What do you mean? That I am stupid and not responsible?”That you would not be proud of me?”

Her heart raced. He was somehow testing her, and she wanted to give the right answers, “I…I can’t think of a better answer for your questions,” she answered. But can you just let it go for the sake of relationship, for the family. There has to be…an answer…a reason to go back…well… there has to be love…commitments and responsibility.”

He eyed her slyly.”You have no feelings for me anymore?”She rolled her eyes in exasperation,” Of course I do! You are my husband. Suddenly I saw his face hardened. His jaws flexed and he stared ahead. She was afraid she had made him angry, but then he spoke up quietly. I do not have other woman; Ylla is only a friend an old friend. Don’t get jealous with her.” He told her. I want only to be a good soldier-the best! The best soldier had no other woman but only a wife.

I see and what about what happened in the hospital? The messages and e-mails, the calls, the date, how could you explain that? I have all the evidences against you… but Yhannie just look at her husband, for the last time I will try to understand you.” She walked quietly, waiting for him to speak again.

“You think about what I said,” she told him.…I can wait… we can wait. I know it will not long enough because we were bind by God’s love and divine grace. God is the center of our relationship. If someone who is trying to destroy it ... then I am strong enough to fight for you, for us… not because of our children but because of you … because of LOVE.

Faith is Greatest Gift from GOD

God give us chance to ask anything from Him. We ask much favor from God.

We can consider ourselves fortunate if we do not have a need as great as that of those people who are sick and less fortunate. We do have needs and likes to try that we have faith as well. If we are sick, we ask favor and forgiveness of our sins. What is the real meaning of asking God of our needs? Our faith and trust to our Almighty God is the most important. Our parents, our teachers give us a gift for some good thing one has accomplished. In school, if a child makes it to the school’s honors they usually have given a reward. A simple gift given to any small things or big things they received. The relationship between a parent and a child are very much like to our prayer to God.

God gives us his meaning of life including our faith. We have to do our part in pleasing God and growing in our faith. God is always close to those who are searching even though they may not realize it. The goodness of Lord Jesus, and the miracle is the mystery of God is going, When we ask Him for something, he given us so much. We ask for life and he gives us eternity; we ask for forgiveness of sins and he gives us his Son. The healing power is our faith and belief. Believe in Him and we will see God and we will be saved.

If we fail to see Him, it is because we are blind deep inside. God always hear our needs and answers our prayers. We are just preoccupied with anxieties of so many needs that we become blind and deaf.

We asked God a greatest gift for our needs, that simple prayer includes everything our whole being.

The sincerity, simplicity of seeing things and hard work is the only way to realize that there is hope and God is with us. We of course do not want to live in darkness; we want a brighter future and peace on us.

God is our light and our salvation. Let us open our hearts. Embrace the goodness of our Lord. God is merciful and powerful, we live in Him and in His good hands. We always ask his forgiveness in times of trials and He is there always there forever. Let it go! God is good all the time.

What is good Delivery?
   Good Delivery is talking to people. This provokes a stimulating exchange of attitudes and ideas and a rewarding interaction between the speaker and listener. This situation maybe called SPEAKER,AUDIENCE,EMPATHY OR RAPPORT.

WAYS OF SPEECH DELIVERY:

   There are several ways by which a speaker may communicate his message to the audience. These are by:

   1. Speaking from manuscript.
   2. Speaking from memory.
   3. Impromptu speaking, and
   4. Speaking extemporaneously.

Speaking From Manuscript

   This simply means reading your speech from the manuscript. The advantages are: One is free from the fear of making slips of the tongue, from relying in catch-as-catch can language; from the danger of running overtime or being cut off before you have finished. The disadvantages are that sometimes the speaker plants himself behind a lectern, buries his face and lapses into sing-song recital of words while his mind wanders off.

Speaking From Memory

   Special events, like formal ceremonial occasion sometimes call for memorized speeches. This method free the speaker from the manuscript and preserves the advantage of a carefully written speech.

IMPROMPTU SPEAKING

   An impromptu speech is one that we had no opportunity to prepare beforehand. Much of our conversation is nothing more than a series of short, impromptu speeches.
   In this method, one has to decide on the substance, purpose and plan of his remarks as he stands to speak. He composes and delivers his talks at the same time. The best preparation for impromptu speaking is primarily experience in extemporaneous speaking.

THE EXTEMPORANEOUS METHOD

   Extemporaneous speaking is simply unmemorized speaking that has been prepared in advance. One investigates, analyzes, selects and outlines his materials so that he knows beforehand what he wants to say and the order in which he will say them But he supplies the language for his speech at the time he delivers it. It is not canned but rather combines the vigor gained from one's study with freedom and flexibility and spontaneity when one faces a live audience.
   It is advisable to practice one's extemporaneous speech before delivering it. This will give one a chance to test one's ideas, fix the outline in mind and develop a feel for the sound and swing of your talk.

The House on the Hillside Valley

(Glimpse of the past)

The house on the Hillside Valley was one of the oldest types in all of Barangay Cabuan. It was also a special house in the eyes of Ysa Leal because it was the home of Old Don Benito’s, the most powerful man in the village. People of great importance came and went to this house, and they came to see the only long lost daughter of Old Benito’s. It was a big and grandiose evening I ever witness in my life. Who is this woman who came into their life that for so many years we don’t have any information about her? A woman who had made her own mark on literary life in the other side of the world. It was a great pride, since she had moved here, the only heiress of the Old Don Benito.

In one sense, leaving my unconscious mind how does it come to be, in other ways, for she had known no other home. Those with families who seek for love and importance, maybe she is not homesick, as I know she had her own family outside the city. Or maybe she comes from orphanage or recently discharges from institution, or lay off from her job, separated from his family, whatever reason is, we see her face glowing, not conscious nor afraid of. Now she counted herself fortunate indeed. She had steady work in an unusually, stimulating atmosphere she had made friends, and she had her Bill.

She looked around the sitting room and smiled. I had a chance to talk to her, an opportunity to know her better.” Carmela, tell me what’s going on,” Her breath grew ragged and she buried her face in her palms, trying not to think how Bill had come to her life, how close she had come to losing him. She eased at the feel of Marc’s hands on her shoulders, but her protests were passionate when he turned her round and drew her into his embrace. She was helpless to resist, and Ysa wept in his arms.

Then she regains her composure and, weak from vented emotion, let her head rest against his shoulder. Suddenly she realized the picture she made- a sobbing, hysterical and bristled, desperate to regain her composure. This is not what I want for him; I don’t want to lose him. The man I owe everything of what I am now. The man who save me from you… and she turned to Marc. This is unfair!

In one sense, Old Benito understands how Ysa grief too much, her life before were so complicated until Bill came to her life. Now she counted fortunate indeed after a long journey she live a good life because of Bill.

“I have dreams, sometimes terrible dreams of this, “Tears dropped down the side of her face. He was still inside her, loud and powerful. She ached for completion. The situation was unbearable.

He wants to marry me. He asked me yesterday. I thought of waking you, but your light was out and you seemed so out of rests since of the high of the storm. I just could not do it.”

Oh what am I to do? Do I trust him and say yes? I love him but what if we just to pain and he find he can’t break it off with his fiancé. She shook her head and coldly she said, “You are not to see him again or have time to meet him and talk to him. How come he asks you to marry him when he has a fiancé waiting for him in Manila?

A moment passed, and Ysa stunted at the touch of Carmela’s hand on her shoulder. “You should rest first. I will serve that young man some nourishment.” Maybe she is true… how I will trust a man who is completely stranger to me. At least Marc, I know him and his family. But, I am afraid with his fame temperament. But I want to settled down and have my dream family, a big family whom I never experience in my entire life. “Yes no one knows him as I do,” Ysa said. She looked forward to talking with Carmela and to hearing all the neighborhood gossip.

“Good morning to you” Ysa returned. Although she looked weary, she could tell that she had been crying.

“Are you all right?” Carmela asked, being close to Ysa.

Ysa shook her head, I lost my baby, she said in a near whisper.

“I’m so sorry, I didn’t know you’re pregnant,” Carmela replied softly.

I wasn’t very far for along. I always lose them. From the first few months, frilled her eyes at once and she shrugged her shoulders in bewilderment. “I don’t know what to do; I want a baby so much.” I want to give him a child. He gives up everything for me and if I can’t give him a child I am afraid maybe I lose him too!”

Carmela touches Ysa’s hand. I’m sure you’ll have one. Ysa shook her head. I’m not as young as you. I fear I’ll never have a child. The doctor says it’s dangerous for me to carry a child.

Carmela bit her lips and then, caring Ysa’s hand with hers she whispered, “You could adopt a well baby I know you, in just a little while you would love it just as if it were your own.

Wherever would I find a child to adopt? Ysa asked.

Perhaps from the Little Angel’s Homes in Cabuan, I’ve heard they help find homes for infants whose mothers are unwed or who cannot support their children, there are other such places as well.”

Ysa nodded. But there is something in her soft heart bothers her much. What about if I try to find her…Bills own child. At least if I found her Bill will be happy then. Carmela looked at Ysa and nodded. “I agree with you, but you think Bill will approve that?

I’ll talk to Bill about it. Perhaps it is the only way for us. Still, I am not ready to give up yet. I want try as long as I can. But this will be your promise… if something happens to me, help find Bill’s daughter.

Carmela gave her friend a big hug. Ysa wanted children so much that Carmela knows she would go on trying to have her own even though it’s risky and failure brought her new heartbreak.

She glances toward Bill, Ysa’s husband. As usual, he was at his PC desk in the study room working on web designing and proposals for his new system upgrading and Research Design. Ysa had a good, very loving and kind husband. And she was glad of that because Ysa is not physically strong and ten years older from him. Bill was known to be a very respectable and loving husband to Ysa and no one can question that.

Carmela was grateful to have known this couple for quite sometimes. When they moved from the city and live in this village and meet Ysa that was the greatest regards for her. That after a long journey they get married and Old Benito's didn't argue and help them settle down. The couple work hard and help Don Benito manage their business. Carmela knew very well Ysa a good and a loving friend ,and she will always be at her side no matter what happened.

“I must go now.” Carmela said, squeezing Ysa’s hand, my husband Jacob must be finished by his tea perhaps.” Carmela said.

“Please come back when you have more time, I enjoy talking to you,” Ysa told her. “But I’m being unfair. I know Jacob will get angry if you don’t hurry.”

Carmela smiled, everyone in the neighborhood knew about Jacob’s famed temperament. She headed for home. For so many years Carmela was very patient and loving wife to his husband Jacob. Jacob work as family driver unlike Bill who is an engineer and very understanding and loving husband to Ysa.

Jacob doesn’t want a big family. He only wants Carmela, only Carmela to his life. He doesn’t want commitment, since she had a three year old baby but that was left to Jacob’s mother in the city, when they moved to the village. That Jacob can’t afford to have her with them. Since Carmela love Jacob so much so she never complain about his temperament.

Jacob had enough problems with her Boss David without her telling it to be known that she was troubled by his action.

Carmela made her way home after purchasing goods to Ysa’s merchandize. A full day’s work awaits Carmela. It was once again a very busy day for Carmela and waited for Jacob to come home very late at night. She want to asked him where spent much of his time but she had shrugged and said, “What a waste of time!” He will not change anyway… he is used to be like that.

Carmela climbed the old narrow steps to the room over the tenement. She kicked of her shoes, removed her uniform and threw herself across the couch, exhausted. It had been a wonderful evening, physically and mentally exhausting, but nevertheless very useful.

She closed her eyes and in a moment had dropped off into a dreamless sleep. She sat up sleepily at the sound of voices hearing from downstairs in the tenement. Carmela instantly recognized one voice as that of Jacob. The other she was quite certain, belong to Mr. Parker. She couldn’t make out the word, but she could certainly tell they were both angry. She strained to make out the words, but then she heard the slamming of a door and Jacob’s footsteps and the old narrow stairs.

Carmela stood up and walked hurriedly toward the door, but before she reached it, Jacob threw it open and stamped angrily into the room. She frowned, smelling the whisky on his breath.

“What the hell are you scowling at, woman?” he shouted at her. She stepped back. Never before had he frightened her, but the smell of whisky, the tone of his voice, and his expression combined to make her feel threatened. “I’m not scowling,” she protested without raising her voice.

“Well, I call it a scow! Very unusual and so embarrassing when a man can’t even come home without criticism!” Carmela said nothing.

“Don’t want your time for lecture or you will not say anything or complain. I better go away and find my peace not for anyone else, not for this dumb house!” Pack up our things were leaving here,” Right now!

Carmela opened her mouth, not just in surprise but in a deep shock. “Jacob, we have to talk. I don’t understand. What do you mean, pack up our things? Why are we leaving?”

Jacob ignored her question.”We have time to pack up our things were leaving now.” Again she eludes and his grasp! “No, Jacob, we can’t leave here. Where will we go?

He look straight to Carmela, “I said were leaving and we are.” “What happened downstairs? She demanded.

“I had a fight with that old man, Parker. He gives me words that I didn’t like to hear. You know me… I’m really like this. I won’t let them rule my life nor control me. If they want me to leave then I go, who cares!”

Carmela blinked… disbelievingly at him. How could he is such thing? In his heart he knew that old Parker only wants him to be on time and do his job.

She could not imagine leaving now. These people were like family to her; she had no one else. “ I have obligations, she murmured.

The hell with your obligations! I’m going and so are you.”

Tears began to fill her eyes. Not because she wanted to cry but because she was so frightened. “We cannot go,” she said even more softly. “We can’t go, not now.”

He looked at her harshly. “What the hell are you talking about?”

“I’m pregnant, we need our job. Please Jacob, go to Mr. Parker and apologize. I know he’ll take you back. I know he’ll give you another chance.”

But it was as if he only heard part of what she said. “Pregnant! How could it be? How did you let it happen? That’s not what I need, a bubbling wife and a screaming kid!” He kicked the side of the table, and then looked into her eyes.”You stay here and have that baby with you, I’m leaving! Not again this time, I cannot afford to have another one… I said you only and no one else, understand!”

He kicked the door and while Carmela watched in slummed silence, he threw his things together and tied them into an untidy pack.

“Please,” Carmela murmured. Please don’t leave us!” She held out her hand toward him, but he did not respond.

She was beyond crying. She trembled violently why was he behaving this way? Perhaps all the things people had said about him was true.

He picked up his grab bag and bag pack, turned and without looking back, slammed the door behind him.

Carmela sat on the chair,” perhaps when the effects of the drink wore off. When he had time to think about it clearly, perhaps then he would come back. But if he did not come back, what would become of this child, of our children. Oh, God Almighty help us, please!”

She wipes her tears and went to her secret hiding place behind the old picture frame hang in the wall. There she had some money given to her by Jacob’s mother and some extra money given to her by her friend Ysa. She gets the envelope and opened it carefully. Her mouth opened in surprise. It was empty! Only Jacob could have taken it! She drops the envelope… now there was nothing! Nothing left! She didn’t have even one peso. What more she is going to do?

Weeks went by and feeling great sadness. Carmela moved back into a small room. He moved to a small studio type apartment, but organized. There was less time to think about Jacob, less time to wonder where he was and if indeed he would come back… weeks went by and she missed her third blood and then her fourth. It was nearby the middle of April and the sun was warmer the days longer.

Carmela while in the front yard, watering the plants, when her neighbor Anna handed her a letter. Carmela looked at the envelope curiously. The handwriting was neat and carefully written. It was not his handwriting but seems familiar with her. She remembered when Jacob left,Lavinia followed him. Lavinia, is the girl from the tenement building where they previously lived. This is her handwriting perhaps.

Carmela sat down in a nearby chair and opened the letter, unfolding it carefully. It was indeed from Jacob written by someone. It was not an announcement that he was returning to her.

Dear Carmela,

I am having this letter written for me. I have decided to go and venture

to another country and take opportunity to make life more meaningful and raise

money. I won’t let this opportunity taken for granted. I will be leaving the village

on the 25^th of April with Lavinia. I hope this won’t be too hard for you.

Jacob

What? She read the letter again and again. Did his marriage vows mean nothing to him? There wasn’t a single word about sending for her later, about carry for her child. There wasn’t even so much as such, “I Love You,” “I’m sorry,” even nothing except leaving me, leaving us.”

In her condition right now, she had to face having a child alone and rearing it with no money. She had to work, and working what she could for her and for the baby and her 3 year old baby left to her mother in law. This time she must be stronger and tough for all the things she is facing now.

“Are you all right?” Anna asked. “Oh, yes, Carmela answered. Jacob’s going out of the country with Lavinia. Maybe that is good for him, for us. There’s a lot of opportunity there. If he’ll not send for us…, Life will continue for me, for my baby and for our first born.”

Carmela pulled herself out of the chair,” perhaps, “she said. Turning away, knowing it would never happen. She picks up her things and ready for work. That afternoon she would meet her new boss and will be assigning to manage a flower shop. She needs to be compassionate and patience not for herself alone.

Years had passed and no news from Jacob and Lavinia. Carmela owns the flower shop now and her two children grown up and in their college taking up bachelor’s degree. For Bill and Ysa , they ‘re love grow stronger even they don’t have a child. They just support and help Carmela raise her children. A monkey, looking very sad and dejected, was walking along the bank of the river one day when he met a turtle.

"How are you?" asked the turtle, noticing that he looked sad.

The monkey replied, "Oh, my friend, I am very hungry. The squash of Mr. Farmer were all taken by the other monkeys, and now I am about to die from want of food."

"Do not be discouraged," said the turtle; "take a bolo and follow me and we will steal some banana plants."

So they walked along together until they found some nice plants which they dug up, and then they looked for a place to set them. Finally the monkey climbed a tree and planted his in it, but as the turtle could not climb he dug a hole in the ground and set his there.

When their work was finished they went away, planning what they should do with their crop. The monkey said:

"When my tree bears fruit, I shall sell it and have a great deal of money."

And the turtle said: "When my tree bears fruit, I shall sell it and buy three varas of cloth to wear in place of this cracked shell."

A few weeks later they went back to the place to see their plants and found that that of the monkey was dead, for its roots had had no soil in the tree, but that of the turtle was tall and bearing fruit.

"I will climb to the top so that we can get the fruit," said the monkey. And he sprang up the tree, leaving the poor turtle on the ground alone.

"Please give me some to eat," called the turtle, but the monkey threw him only a green one and ate all the ripe ones himself.

When he had eaten all the good bananas, the monkey stretched his arms around the tree and went to sleep. The turtle, seeing this, was very angry and considered how he might punish the thief. Having decided on a scheme, he gathered some sharp bamboo which he stuck all around under the tree, and then he exclaimed:

"Crocodile is coming! Crocodile is coming!"

The monkey was so startled at the cry that he fell upon the sharp bamboo and was killed.

Then the turtle cut the dead monkey into pieces, put salt on it, and dried it in the sun. The next day, he went to the mountains and sold his meat to other monkeys who gladly gave him squash in return. As he was leaving them he called back:

"Lazy fellows, you are now eating your own body; you are now eating your own body."

Then the monkeys ran and caught him and carried him to their own home.

"Let us take a hatchet," said one old monkey, "and cut him into very small pieces."

But the turtle laughed and said: "That is just what I like, I have been struck with a hatchet many times. Do you not see the black scars on my shell?"

Then one of the other monkeys said: "Let us throw him into the water,"

At this time the turtle cried and begged them to spare his life, but they paid no heed to his pleadings and threw him into the water. He sank to the bottom, but very soon came up with a lobster. The monkeys were greatly surprised at this and begged him to tell them how to catch lobsters.

"I tied one end of a string around my waist," said the turtle. "To the other end of the string I tied a stone so that I would sink."

The monkeys immediately tied strings around themselves as the turtle said, and when all was ready they plunged into the water never to come up again.

And to this day monkeys do not like to eat meat, because they remember the ancient story.

An Igorot Folk Tale

   In the beginning there were no people on the earth.Lumawig the Great Spirit, came down from the sky and cut many reeds. He divided these into pairs which he placed in different parts of the world, and then he said to them, :You must speak." Immediately the reeds became people, and in each place was a man and a woman who could talk, but the language of each couple differed from that of others.

   Then Lumawig commanded that each man and woman marry, which they did. By and by there were many children, all speaking the same language as their parents. These, in turn married and had many children. In this way there came to be many people on the earth.

   Now Lumawig saw that there were several things which the people on the earth needed to use, so he set to work to supply them. He created salt, and told the inhabitants of one place to boil it down and sell it to their neighbors. But these people could not understand the directions of the Great Spirit and the next time he visited them, they had not touched the salt.

   Then he took it away from them and gave it to the people called Mayinit. These did as he directed, and because of this he told them that they should always be owners of the salt, and that the other people must buy from them.

   Then Lumawig went to the people of Bontoc, and told them to get clay and make pots. They got the clay, but they did not understand the moulding, and the jars were not well shaped. Because of their failure, Lumawig told them that they would always have to buy jars and he moved the pottery to Samoki. When he told the people there what to do, they did just as he said, and their jars were well shaped and beautiful. Then the Great Spirit saw that they were fit owners of the poetry, and told them that they should always make many jars to sell.

   In this way Lumawig taught the people and brought to themall the things which they now have.

Everlasting Love

“Zhaidec…” Noemi spoke in a near whisper. Why are you doing this to me? Why am so important to you? I must admit… without you there would be no life for me. With you I can bear anything that happens, but without you I am nothing.” Looking at him with her sweetest smile, he leaned down and kissed her cheeks. And whisper…”It’s the same for me,” he said softly. “I need you, Noemi.” His lips found the soft sweetness of her skin, and he began to move quickly, he wants the world stop for seconds, he wants to enjoy being with his woman.

They missed each other so much, their body seemed to melt together naturally, and they need each other. “Noemi, my Noemi,” he whispered, again his lips moving against her mouth, drawing out her passion. “Are you afraid with me?” with his big eyes try to scared Noemi, “ha ha ha ha… Noemi, my Noemi”. He touched her long black hair, breathing deeply, allowing himself to enjoy the moment fully, and never knowing what tomorrow might bring. He wanted her as much today as always, and he would love her forever….

He stood at the bus station, glance his wrist watch and look at the people comes from the bus. He walked towards the ticket window asking the in-charge what time the next bus will arrive. A glint from the afternoon sun accenting the hard lines rugged living had etched into the brown skin of his handsome face. His curled black hair was brushed up and held his arm to it. His qurtha … he uses to take it off and just wear shirt and jeans. He was in city which is not so familiar with him. He must not look too “Indian,” although that was almost impossible, for everything about him was Indian. He dearly loved to wear white and brown but he likes all colors. He spends much time in his computer, studying and surfing, system analysis, encoding, and a lot more. He wants to help his family and work for them let his brothers attend their family business and he will work for them. He was so afraid with his mom and always hides his interests. No one knows where he is now, no one knows he travel far from his place just to see and meet her girlfriend. Three hours he spent waiting for her woman… “Where are you now? Noemi, my Noemi”, he is beginning to get upset now. His face is getting red wants to clinch his fist… but he can’t do anything just to wait for her. He can’t call her because he left his mobile no where that he can’t remember where he drops his mobile. “If she won’t come then this is it… I have to go back and never see her anymore”. He sits on the long bench inside the passenger’s booth, the air-conditioned room is so cold but he is sweating and feels anxious. What he did is to hold his hands to his face offer prayers,” Please God let her come and see me”.

“What are you thinking?” The soft voice came from his right side. He turned to look at his woman, his Noemi girl, who had just arrived from the last trip. It had been a hard journey to Colorado from the place he came but he had to come for Noemi and it irritated him that she had to come at all very late.”Why just now... can’t you come on time? What did you do the whole day? Are you busy with others... maybe your job again? His eyes drifted from her lovely face back to the bus where she rides then to the rutted streets over which cars clattered amid the bustle of a growing city. “I’m thinking about if what would happen to me if you will not come to see me; maybe I will just sleep here in this terrain or catch up the next flight and won’t see you anymore.” The airport is 40 minutes travel to the bus terminal, so if Noemi won’t come Zhaidec will just go back to the airport and returns home.

“Look at me--- standing here in white man’s clothes because I don’t dare to come to city dressed as what they call me.” Noemi says, “As an Indian, but look at yourself you’re an Indian”. He met her eyes again. “I’m not I said, and you have to wear that tight uncomfortable ‘proper’ pink woman’s shirt and jeans instead of the tunics you like so well, and without scarf or nakab, just so you aren’t scorned in the streets.”

She lay on her side watching him, studying the lean, slim body that remained so tame but strong despite his younger age as 33 years. There was nothing hard or muscular body figure about Zhaidec Khan, except perhaps a few extra lines on his forehead and deep seated eyes. The pointed nose that I love to touch, the thin lips that I love to kiss, fine beard and mustache that tickles me because of that I miss him so much. Noemi was surprised when he call for a taxicab, now where we going to your place or my place? “I rent a pad in case you will not show up,” said Zhaidec. Noemie just smiled, “Now you sound like Swift Arrow”.

That was ten years ago to be exact, now they’re married and shares interest in raising their children to good school and work hard for their children’s future. Zhaidec never change still the same man when he meets before.

That was also the side of him she understood best, which was why she understood him, his family, lifestyles, living and belief. He was raise good by his family. He has a loving parents, brothers, sisters and relatives. A fine living that everybody wants in life. He never suffers pain and sorrow because his way of life. Everybody loves him because he is the youngest son. Then she met Noemi that changes his lifestyles, his interest and dreams. He wants to change Noemi’s life, be with her in times of needs but they are far from each other. Even if he wants he can’t afford to do that. He has to continue his studies and be professional. He is doing that not because of his family but because of Noemi too. He has only one direction to take this time to be with Noemi for a week, a month or maybe a year. “But not forever”, Noemi said. “Why not, time will come and God will make a way… just trust Him.

She can’t do anything but to follow for she know that Zhaidec will do his promise to her. This old dilapidated house owned by his uncle Noah maybe best for you,” Noemi guide him to the house. He sighed and staring up at the ceiling. “I know, but what else can we do? Your family won’t allow me to stay in your house, its fine for me at least I can see you and talk to you more often.” He still can’t accept why Noemi’s family want him to be separated with him, because she left Noemi and escape his responsibility as husband and father of their kids. Ten long years of waiting and only now he show up, for what? To disturb Noemi and make her life complicated again? “I don’t know if this time you’re for good, but what’s in my mind is you’re my husband and I should not hide you from our children. “She says.

He sighed and ambled over to her and carries Noemi into his arms, his animal grace reminiscent of wild things and the outdoors. He begun unbuttoned his shirt and began to remove it, revealing a slim figure, firm chest and muscular arms. A young good looking man now on her front, she is no longer dreaming … this is reality. “He rolled to his side, resting on his elbow and looking down at her. She always felt dwarfed beneath his tall, slim frame. He had inherited his powerful body from his brown father, who has been a very big man. His hard-edged leanness came from his Indian side, as did his brown skin and the piercing blue eyes that sometimes could almost hypnotize her, even after all the years they had been together. He ran his fingers lightly over her throat and chin.

“Still the same Noemi I love so dearly, I do,” he told her, forcing a smile for her. Things had been hard enough on them the last four days waiting for him to come and the hours he spent in the bus terminal almost an agony for him. At least he could try to keep his mood even. “Every time you talk like that I think about the eighteen-year-old girl I meet on that love bus, and how she try to escape from me as I follow her impatiently to her auntie’s house in Green Meadows and how she took that bamboo and threw unto my face.

She smiled sadly at the memory. She’d lost her dad when she was still a baby that’s been her mother told her and never see him. She grows in a family of her mom’s brother and her mom married another man and raises her own family. How painstakingly her life was because his poster father was so very strict not even split of seconds she receives beat and punishments for every mistake she committed. She even hurdled herself to work then study and took scholarship for her free education in college. That’s the reason why I came to see her to end up her misery. She studied the provocative smile that had made her melt when she was eighteen that still made her melt, nineteen more years and four children maybe later if it is our destiny. I want too but how will I start if we will end up with nothing.”Imagine! After all the years you’ve been telling me everything will be all right, no one will interfere even my mom, my relatives, friends and your family too.” Now it was she who was getting upset, despite her intention to calm down Zhaidec.”So this is the end of everything we had shared together,” took her scarf and sit. She met his blue eyes and they were dancing as he studied her lovely face. Her skin was still soft, thanks to the cream she used, and her soft long black hair showed no sign of gray. Zhaidec Noemi girl was still firm in the right places.

“Why on earth are you smiling, Zhaidec Khan?” she asked with a frown. “Nothing, I enjoy seeing you get angry,” he answered.”You’re prettier when you’re angry.” He leaned down and kissed her lightly. “Besides, if we can’t see a little humor in this dammed life, we might as well end it here and now, Noemi.” His smile faded then. “Things are going to get worse, I’m afraid. The day is coming when it will be a lot harder to smile.”

Their eyes held, a million memories flashing through both their minds….. Years gone by…. those first years spent with Zhaidec was heaven for her, no worries, no problems, everything is but happiness and sweetness… the hardships of surviving in a wild dreams far away from him will just ended with nothing.

There had been so many challenges and sacrifices, so many nights of crying since she’d come west and had fallen in love and married the half-breed fellow from western coast. Fate and necessity had separated them far too many times, but always he’d come back. Always her Zhaidec had returned to hold her, protect her, and provide for her needs.

But their last separation had brought the most pain. The family of her and him had torn them apart, sending Zhaidec east and leaving Noemi vulnerable in a city of thieves. Zhaidec’s pain at not being there in her most dire time of need could be read in his blue, loving eyes, especially in their intimate moments. Over all their years together, he had always protected her. He’d risked his life for her more than once, and he’d always sworn he would not allow her to be hurt. Yet he had failed her that one time, and he will not forgive himself, never forget it. Noemi! His beautiful, faithful Noemie-girl,I will never forgive myself and all my life I will never forget this. So much! They had been through so much together…. and survived! Always it seemed that their pain and loss came through in their lovemaking, mingled with their joy and laughter. Each time they made love the experience was enhanced by the deep secrets they shared, the special things that only two people who had been through what they had and who had survived could appreciate. His sweet kisses smothered her, and within moments they were both in the midst of excitement. It was as though this was all, as though this was the only way they could prove that as long each had the other everything would be all right. This was something no one could take away. No one!

In these wonderful moments all sorrow and pain were left behind. The end of everything, the unpredictable future was not to be thought of now. For all those years at least they were still together. Here, in each other’s arms, lay their power, their determination to survive against all odds. This great love could endure. “Sometimes it hurts to think about our future,” Noemi said. But I have to accept the real you. He kissed her eyes. “I know, but that’s life, Noemi girl. Everybody needs to move on.

She ran her fingers lightly over his handsome mouth. “I don’t want to think about that…about us getting separated….the children getting older. But if that would be our fate I am willing to sacrifice. I am just here waiting for you and will never close the door for you. She smiled through her burgeoning tears. “Oh, I look forward to that!”

“You are to me. And you’re, by God, beautiful enough that I have to keep a close eye on you in these wild cities. If you can only go and stay with me but life for us is so unfair. I have to leave you not because I don’t want responsibilities but because of fate that hinders our relationship. This will not take for a long time, trust me.”He shook his head at how fast he deep breathes looking again to Noemi’s beautiful face.

Three hours had passed still no Noemi in the bus terminal; he has to go to catch up the last trip bringing him to the airport for his flight to Colorado. “She will never show up”, said Zhaidec. He kneels down to kiss his youngest son, hugs his children for the last time. “I have to go now, I’ll be back soon, please tell your mom how much I love her.” The children wave their hand, “come home soon daddy.”

“I will you take care of yourself and your mom, I love you.” Zhaidec close the window and one last glance but there is no Noemi. She is there hiding in the corner looking for the departure of his Zhaidec. This time she knew that he will not returned home. It will be forever leaving her alone again. Race and breeding that’s the reason why he need to leave them. What a mixture of sentiments she needs to be brave and accept because of her children. If she will give up what will happened to their children. “I trust you God; you will give the way for me.”Noemi held the hands of her children and leaves the bus terminal. This time she needs to be compassionate for her children future.

They walk towards their car when someone catches her attention, a familiar voice calling her name and the children.”Noemi, my Noemi…. My God I can’t leave you! I don’t care about fame, race and breeding. It’s you, only you and the children is my life.” Zhaidec hugs and kiss Noemi and embraces their children. “This time, I won’t leave you anymore. I am your protector, your family and your life.” We can live a simple life with us alone, for us nothing is impossible. I’ll be good husband to you and good father of your children.” He grinned and ran a hand over her smooth skin and kisses her lips. “All I see is my pretty little Noemi, and you‘re still like a young girl for me, never grow up, hmmmmm.” Zhaidec replied with flirting smile. “Oppps… there are minors around, can’t you wait until we gets home.” Children say.

They leave the place with smile.From then, the family live happily ever after.-end

A Woman name Zheshkah, "Life Trail"

           The true of childhood and giving up is fascinating experiences and joyful moments that she treasures a lot, she works hard and was inspired with too much care and love of her father, though most of the time she was beaten up for any mistakes she committed.Always her uncle depend her most of the time do the tasks given to her and finished that on time.But, it didn't took too long for he died when he was 25 years old because of cancer.Yes, she used to remember in her childhood, she must get up as early as 3:00 o'clock in the morning to cook for breakfast and at 4:00 o'clock , she had to go with her grandfather to harvest vegetables in the farm to be sold in the market and at 6:00 o'clock, before sun rises she had to bring the horse to the field and while riding on his back she is singing a lullaby song she learned from her mom. She needs to go back to the house before 7:00 for her to get ready for school, a daily routine assigned to her with no complain. That would not end up to that... she had to bring some chocolates, biscuits, bread and candies not for her snacks but for sale.She only had to study and read her lecture notes while selling those items to her classmates and teachers.She had to sleep very late at night for she need to finished the chores and 20 minutes before bedtime she had to answer her school assignments, but that was almost 12 midnight.For every mistakes she got, she always been punished, they do that to discipline her. A training for her to be tough, to be a strong woman, but she will not enter in military for she is just a petite and weak person. But what is the world outside? She is only happy and feel comfortable if she is with her friends and classmates, she feel calm and secured if she is praying in the house of God. She feel the importance and proud if she excels in school.There is only a piece of doubt that bothers in her mind, why only her was treated like that. All of her sisters are not doing anything , they enjoy their childhood, they wear new and nice clothes and they don't even washed clothes, cook and went with her father to the farm only her. She always wish her auntie would come again to visit her. It was a long time that she didn't see her, after her marriage to his American boyfriend.She always remember, she was treated" like a little princess" when her aunt was still with her. What she recalls... when she was in grade school when her aunt bade goodbye and go with her husband in America. Always her aunt send money for her but, since they were too many so she didn't bother to ask for more. Until she had the courage to apply for a scholarship and study for free. She never complains even when she was in her college years she still don't stop the routine work for her.She gets matured in her early age. For all her painstaking work she graduated with honors. And for her that was the most important day in her life seeing her father smile and hug her saying with pride and confidence, "that's my daughter! I am so proud of you!"
                   With the rule of reason and repression, sacrifices to awaken the inner self, storm, they says, "it almost dreaded her, because she woke the being she was always hulling, and stirred up a craving cry in her childhood and grow as unsatisfied and craving for love and care of a father, of a family. That she needs to be good, faithful and must excel in all aspects for her to be loved and be given attention and importance."This longing, and all of a similar kind," was necessary to knock on her head, which she did it figuratively, after the manner of pain, suffering and a big question that only now she realizes and understand why she is treated like that, and another why... she suffer much pain and struggle to live, to earn and crave for the love and care she didn't feel in most of her childhood, until a man came to her life, succumb..., but she saw the light, the hope, the care, happiness and willingness to understand what life is.
                     Although it is true that she is reticent and evasive about her past, it is not true she evade it entirely, nor it is true that the sources of her purest misery must remain a mystery to the reader.Although it was not describe specific events of her childhood and young womanhood, she does describes the pattern of them.Her marriage seems a repetition of the pain and struggle in her childhood , you see her happy outside but crying inside.
                    When you asked her a lot of her childhood... grief, trouble and sacrifices she weep... but seen in her beautiful face, she never feel regrets nor asking for more, for a new life, the family where she grows,still the family she will keep and choose in spite of the truth that she never felt happiness and accepted by them. No respect was given to her even though she help her father to support them in their studies, that she has to set aside her priorities, her own life just to follow his father to help them. Still her sisters were so mean to her that gives her a lot of pain, and ask herself again ..." why?... why they are like that? What have I done?", All her life, she help her father to send her sisters in good school and she never complains, never heard she is complaining of anything she does for the family.
                  Well, where was I? Not only in what spot of her suffering, but in what she is now! As she tells me, she will continue her struggle and overcome adversity without noticeable damage of whatever may come for her in the future. They are like clouds, that sometimes cloudy, windy and stormy , because for her past gives her completeness, "she loved the past". Her part and her obstacles in her part prevent them from fully inhabiting the present and confidently looking forward for her future. this is not possible for her, in where past too much has gone wrong.
                  "A sudden amazement at her own perverse proceeding stretch like a bow upon me". I saw her courage, her strong determination in spite of all her experiences, a trail she could have done better had I known herself better.
                Talking with her , spending much time listening to her, she leads a useful, independent life. She can take pride in knowing herself successful in the face of almost insurmountable odds.For it is the victory of solitary, and I know, because she told me, that this is not enough for her. She has always hoped for a happy marriage, of a complete happy family in which she can express and fulfill her hidden inner self. She is such so wonderful and lovable woman of courage and inspiration."The artist can cry, can laugh, can fight, can heal wounds of distress, as Zheshkah does, she shall not stop hoping!" for she believe in this world chaos and struggle is just a battle to fight for, to move on... just keep the faith and confidence, and think the most high who always keep us and guide us here in our hearts,... in this world... and... in paradise.-"To God be the glory!"

                    In the eyes of the youth, reality is relative. The meaning of what we see is the true state of affairs, that is poverty.But whatever it is, we have to gradually accept the world of reality.There are projects to uplift the condition of the poor, some organizations to assists their needs. So far, an organization that tries to address itself to the present needs of the poor people.
                  We are caught up in "cleaning" the image of our country abroad but we fail to see the filth and the needs of the people."One does not have to look as far out to find dying children. The child of the dump is dying minutes away from home. What we need is commitment and willingness to help our countrymen, the children of God, the children of the world.

( An improvised home behind a portion of the Intramuros walls.Two wooden boxes flank the doorway. At left is an acacia tree with a wooden bench under it.)
   (MARIO enters from the street at left. He is in his late twenties, shabbily dressed and with hair that seems to have been uncut for weeks. He puts his lunch bag on the bench, sits down, removes his shoes and puts them beside his lunch bag.)

Gloria (Calls from inside)-Mario! Is that you, Mario?
Mario- Yes...
Gloria (A small woman about Mario's age, with long hair, a scrawny body, comes out wiping her hands on her dress.)- I'm glad you're home early.
Mario- How is Tita?(Without waiting for an answer, he enters the dwelling).
Gloria (Crosses to the bench)- Don't wake her up, Mario. She's tired.
She cried the whole day.
Mario (reappears and crosses to the bench and sits on one end)- Has she been eating well?
Gloria: She wouldn't eat even a mouthful of lugao. But I'll buy her some biscuits. Maybe she'll eat them. (She slips her fingers into his breast pocket) I'll take some of the money.
Mario: (Rises, annoyed)-Gloria! Can't you wait a minute?
Gloria:(Taken aback)- Hey, what's the matter? Why are you suddenly so touchy?
Mario: Who wouldn't be? I'm talking to you about the child and you bother me by ransacking my pockets I wish you'd think more of our daughter.
Gloria (Crosses at the Center) - My God! Wasn't I thinking of her? Why do you think I need some money?
To buy me a pretty dress? Or see a movie?
Mario- Tone down your voice. You'll wake the child up.
Gloria (Low but intense) - All I want is a little money to buy her something to eat!!She hasn't eaten anything all day! That was why I was "bothering" you!
Mario (Repentant)- I'm sorry, Gloria... (Grips her arm and turns away.)
Gloria- It's all right, Mario. Now, may I have some of the money?
Mario (Turns to her)-Money? I ... don't have any... not now.
Gloria- Today is payday, Mario.
Mario- Yes ... but...
Gloria- But what? Where's your pay for the week?
Mario- I don't ... have it.
Gloria - What? I waited for you the whole day and you tell me.
Mario (Angry)- that I have nothing! Nothing! What do you want me to do- steal?
Gloria- I'm not asking you to do a thing like that! All I want to know is what you did with your money.
Mario (Sits on the bench)-Nothing is left of it.
Gloria- Nothing? What happened?
Mario-Oh, I had a few drinks with my friends. Before I knew it, I had spent every centavo of it.
Gloria (Eyeing him intently)-Mario, do you think you can make a fool of me? Haven't I seen you drunk before: crawling home like a wounded snake and reeking of alcohol like a hospital? You don't smell or look drunk.
Mario- All right, so I didn't go drinking.
Gloria - But your pay- what happened to it?
Mario- It's better if you don't know, Gloria
Gloria- Look, Mario I'm your wife. I have the right to half of everything you get. If I can't have my share, I have the right to know at least where it went!
Mario- All right.(Rises.) I spent it all on another woman.
Gloria- Another woman? I don't believe it. I know you wouldn't do such thing.
Mario - I didn't know you had so much faith in me.
Gloria - No, Mario, what I mean is- you wouldn't spend all your money when you know your daughter may need some of it. You love her too much to do that.
(Mario sits down and buries his head in his hands. Gloria crosses to him and lays a hand on his shoulder.)
Gloria- What's wrong, Mario?
Mario (Turns his face away)- Nothing, Gloria, nothing.
Gloria (Sits beside him) - I know something is wrong, Mario. I can feel it. Tell me what it is.
Mario (Stares at the ground) - Gloria, I've lost my job.
Gloria (Rises, shocked)- Oh, no'
Mario (Looks up at her)- It's true, Gloria
Gloria- What about your pay for the whole week?
Mario - I lost my job aa week ago.
Gloria- And you never even told me!
Mario - I thought I could get another, without making you worry.
Gloria- Do you think you can get another in five months? It took you that long to get the last one.
Mario- It won't take me as long to get another.
Gloria- But how did you lose it?
Mario (Rises and truns away) - What's the use of talking about it? That won't bring it back.
Gloria (Suddenly, in an agonized voice)- Mario!
Mario (Turns around)-Yes?
Gloria- Have your sinful fingers brought you trouble again?
Mario- Now, now, Gloria! Don't try to accuse me, as they did!
Gloria- What did they accuse you of?
Mario - Just what you meant to say, Pilfering, they call it.
Gloria- What else would you call it? (Pause.) What , according to them, did you steal?
Mario (Low)- It was nothing much, really nothing at all.
Gloria- Wha was it?
Mario- It was an apple.
Gloria- An apple! You mean-
Mario - An apple! Don't you know what an apple is?
Gloria- You mean, you took one apple.
Mario- Yes, and they kicked me out for it: for taking one , single apple. Not a dozen, not a crate.
Gloria- That's what you get for not stopping to think before you do something.
Mario (Sits down ) -Could I have guessed they would do that for one apple? When there were millions of them?(Pause.) We were hauling them to the warehouse. I saw one roll out of a broken crate. It was that big (demonstrates). It looked so delicious. Suddenly, I found myself putting it in my lunch bag.
Gloria- That's the trouble with you; when you think of your own stomach, you think of nothing else!
Mario (Rise)- I was not thinking of myself!
Gloria- Whom were you thinking of- me? Did I ever ask for apples?
Mario- Yes, she did. (pause.) Do you remember that day I took her out for a walk? On our way home we passed a grocery store that sold "delicious" apples at seventy centavos each. She wanted me to buy one for her, but I did not have seventy centavos. What I did was buy her one of those small green apples they sell on the sidewalk, but she just threw it away, saying it was not a real apple.Then she cried. (Pause.) So... when I saw this apple roll out of the broken crate, I thought that Tita would love to have it.
Gloria- You should have tried to bring home pan-de-sal, or rice, or milk- and not those "delicious" apples. We're not rich. We can live without apples.
Mario- Why? Did God create apple trees to bear fruit for rich alone? Didn't He create the whole world for everyone? That's why I tried to bring the apple home for Tita. When we brought her into this world we sort of promised her everything she had a right to have in life.
Gloria - So, for a measly apple, you lost a job you needed so much.
Mario- I wouldn't mind losing a thousand jobs for an apple for my daughter!
Gloria- Where was this apple? Did you bring it home to Tita? (Crosses to the bench to get the lunch bag.)
Mario- No, they kept it-as evidence. (Sits down.)
Gloria - See? You lost your job trying to filch an apple and you even lost the apple for which you lost your job.
(Gloria puts away the shoes and the lunch bag. She sits on the steps and they remain silent for a time.)
Gloria (Rising)-Filching an apple that's too small a reason to kick a poor man out of work. You should ask them to give you a second chance , Mario.
Mario- They won't do that.
Gloria- Why not?
Mario (Rises)- Can.t you see they had been waiting for me to make a slip like that? They've wanted to throw me out for any reason, so that they may bring their own men in.
Gloria- You should complain.
Mario - Suppose I did? What would they do?| They would dig up my police record.
Gloria (Crosses to him)- But, Mario that was so long ago! Why would they try to dig that thing up?
Mario- They'll do anything to keep me out . (Holds her arm.) But don't worry, I'll find another job. It isn't really so hard to look for a job nowadays. (From this point he avoids her eyes). You know I've been job-hunting for a week now, and I think I have found a good job.
Gloria- There you go, lying again.
Mario- Believe me, I'm not lying this time.
Gloria (Crosses to the center)- -You're always lying- I can't tell when you're telling the truth or not.
Mario- In fact I'll see someone tonight who knows of a company that needs a night watchman.
Gloria (Holds his arm)- Aren't you only trying to make me feel better, Mario.
Mario- No, Gloria.
Gloria- Honest?
Mario (Avoids her eyes)- Honest! (Sits down.)
Gloria (Sighs happily, looks up)- I knew God wouldn't let us down. He never lets anybody down. I'll pray tonight and ask Him to let you have that job. (Looks at Mario) But, Mario would it mean that you'd have to stay out all night?
Mario- That would be all right. I can always sleep during the day.
Gloria (Brushes against him like a cat)- What I mean is, it will be different when you aren't by my side at night. (Walks away from him.) But, oh, I think I'll get used to it. (Crosses to the center and turns around.) Why don't you go and see this friend of yours right now? Anyway you don't have anything to do tonight. Don't you think it's wise to see him as early as you can?
Mario (After a pause)-Yes, I think I'll do that.
(Gloria crosses to the steps to get his shoes, followed by Mario.)
Gloria (Hands him the shoes.)- Here, Mario, put these on and go I'll step up and wait for you. (Sits on the steps and watches him.) Mario (Putting on the shoes)-No, Gloria, you must not wait for me. I may be back quite late.
Gloria- All right, But doubt if i can sleep a wink until you return.
(Gloria comes up to him after he finishes and tries to huh him, but he pushes her away. Suddenly confused, he sits on the steps. Gloria sits beside him and plays with his hands.)
Gloria- Mother was wrong. You know, before we got married, she used to tell me:"Gloria, you'll commit the greatest mistake of your life if you marry that good-for-nothing loafer! You can't make him any straighter than you could a crooked wire with your bare hands." Oh, I wish she were alive now, She would have seen how much you've changed. (She sees someone behind the tree: Pablo. He has been watching them for a time. He is older than Mario, sinister-looking, and well dressed.)
Pablo (Sarcastic)-Hmmmmmm How romantic!
Mario- Pablo!
(Suddenly unnerved, Mario starts to fidget. There is an uncomfortable silence as Gloria rises and walks to the center, her eyes burning with hate. Pablo lights a cigarette, never taking his eyes burning with hate. Pablo lights a cigarette, never taking his eyes off her.)
Pablo- You're not glad to see me, are you? (Puts a foot on the bench.)
Gloria (Angry)- What are you doing here? What do you want?
Pablo - Saaaay! Is that the right way to receive a friend who has come a visiting?
Gloria- We don't care for your visits!
Pablo- You haven't changed a bit, Gloria... not a bit.
Gloria - Neither have you, I can see!
Pablo- You're still that same woman who cursed me to hell because I happened to be Mario's friend long before you met him. Time has not made you any kinder to me. You still hate me, don't you?
Gloria- Yes! And I wish you'd stay away from us for the rest of our lives!
Pablo- Am I not staying away from you.
Gloria- Then why are you here?
Pablo- God! May I not even come to see you now and then, to see if life has been kind to you? How are you getting along?
Gloria (Scornfully)- We were doing well until you showed up!
Pablo - Your daughter- she was only that high when I saw her last-how is she?
Gloria (Curtly)- She 's all right!
Pablo- Oh! and I thought she had not been very well.
Gloria (Suspicious)-How did you know? (To Mario). Did you tell him?
Mario (Stammering)- I ... how could I? I haven't seen him in a long time ... (Sits down.) until now of course.
Pablo- What is she sick with?
Gloria- (Curtly)- We don't know!
Pablo- Don't you think you should take her to a doctor? (Puts his foot down and pulls out his wallet). Here, I'll loan you a few pesos. It may help your daughter to get well.
Gloria (Scornfully)- We need it all right-but no, thank you!
Pablo-Why don't you take it!
Gloria - Paying you back will only only mean seeing your face again.
Pablo- Well, if you hate my face so much, you don't have to pay me back. Take it as a gift.
Gloria - The more reason I should refuse it!
Pablo- All right, if that's how you want it.- (Sits down and plays with the wallet.)
Gloria- Mario has stopped depending on you, since the day I took him away from your " clutches"!
Gloria- I have no regrets.
Pablo- How about Mario? Has he no regrets either?
Gloria- He has none.
Pablo- How can you be so sure? When he and I were pals we could go to first-class air-conditioned movie houses every other day. I'll bet all the money I have here now (brandishing his wallet) that he has not been to one since you "liberated" him from me. And that wa almost four years ago.
Gloria- One cannot expect too much from honest money- and we don't.
Pablo (Rises and walks about) - What is honest money? Does it look better than dishonest money? Does it buy more? Or honesty? What is it? Dressing like that? Staying in this dungeon you call a house? Is that what you so beautifully call "honesty"?
Mario (Rises)- Pablo!
Pablo (Derisively) See what happened to your daughter. That is what honesty has done to her. And how can honesty help her now? She's not sick and she needs no medicine. You know that. You know very well what she needs: food. Good food. She's undernourished, isn't she?
Mario- Pablo!
Gloria- I know you have come to lead him back to your dishonest ways, but you can't. He won't listen to you now now! We have gone this far and we can go on living without your help!
Pablo ( Sarcastic) - You call this living? This, Gloria is what you call dying-dying slowly-minute by minute.(Laughs.)
Mario (Crosses to him and shakes him)- Pablo, stop it! (Pablo stops). You shouldn't have come.
Pablo (Brushes him off)- I got tired waiting for you!
Gloria- So you have been seeing each other! I was afraid so!
Pablo- He came to the house yesterday.
Mario- Pablo, don't.
Pablo (Ignoring Mario) He said he would be back this noon. But he didn't show up. I came because I was afraid his conscience was bothering him.
Mario- Pablo, I told you she should not know!
Pablo- It's all right, Mario. You'd better tell her everything. She's bound to know later. Tell her what you told me: that you no longer believe in the way she wanted you to live. Tell her.
(Mario turns his back on them.)
Gloria (Crosses to Mario)-Mario... is this what you meant by another job? Oh Mario ... you promised me you were through with him. You said you'd go straight... and never go back to that kind of life...
Mario (turns around and holds her arms, stammering) - Gloria... you...you must try to understand... I tried... I tried long and hard... but I could not left us out of this kind of life...
Gloria (Crosses to center and shouts at Pablo)- You're to blame for this, you son-of-devil! You've come to him when you know his down.
Pablo- He came to me first-
Gloria - When you know he'll cling to anything and do anything! Even return to the life he hates! (Crosses to him and tries to strike him.) Get out our sight! Get out!
Pablo (Easily warding off her fists)- All right, all right, I'll leave-just as soon as Mario is ready to go.
Gloria- He's not going with you! (Crosses to center.)
Pablo- Is that so! Why don't you ask him?- (sits on the bench, grinning.)
Gloria (Shouts)- I said he's not going!
Pablo( Points to Mario) -Go on, ask him.
Gloria (Turns to Mario)-You're not going with him, are you, Mario? Tell that crook you're not going with him, anywhere! Tell him to leave us and never come back! Tell him to go, please, Mario, please...
Mario( Holds her arm) - Gloria, I ...
Gloria - Mario... I know he has talked to you and tried to poison your mind again... but don't go with him. This is still the better way of life. If things have not been turning out well, you must know that God is not letting us down. He is only trying us.
Mario (Holds her) - Gloria, I...
Gloria (Pulls away from him)- You're going! I can see that you want to go with him. Ohhhhhh... (Cries). You'll leave me here again, wondering whether you'll be shot in the head or sent to jail!
Pablo (Behind the tree) -Don't worry about him, Gloria. He's safe with me. He won't come anywhere near jail. I've got connections.
Gloria (Like a beast gone berserk, she rushes at him and claws his face)- You hideous beast! You... you... Get out! Get out!
Mario ( Pulls her away)- You stay there, Pablo, I'll be with you in a minute. (Leads her to the steps.)
(Pablo fixez his clothes, cursing.)
Mario (Firmly) -Gloria, I'm going with him.
Gloria - Don't Mario, don't...
Mario - You can't make me stop now, I've thought about this since last week.
Gloria- No, no Mario, no ... (Holds fast to him.)
Mario ( loosens her hold)- You take good care of yourself and our child. I'll take good care of myself. Don't wait up for me. I'll come home very late.
(Mario walks away with Pablo. Gloria stares dumbly at them, too spent to run after them. Then she shouts.)
Gloria- MARIOOOOOOOOOO!
(She covers her face with her dress and cries into it. The daughter, from inside, joins her crying as the curtain closes.)

Where Morning Comes

        The gates were thrown open and numerous bad guys swarmed in and ran in all directions. Their all sweat and handed with guns and sword. Hands were raised high brandishing with the rifle and shouting for fear and vengeance.Some men were arm with bows. It seemed as if all were all yelling and shouting a sound that made the blood run cold and the spirit awake."We declare war!, sounds from the rest of the attackers.Sounds of innocent victims, children were crying out loud! "What we have done?Why we have been neglected? Where is justice? Is there any justice for us"?
Some of the armies were armed with high powered gun and armor cars for protection and wore bullet proof jacket. Faces were painted with gray lines,dots,and slashes in red , black and white paints.Each officer appeared to have his own colors and design for none looked like the other, those are the sniffers who even put some green and hay leaves to cover themselves.
       Armies captured guns, several militants, supplies and a few people to whom they believe were also a militant.As the battle continued, they slew and maimed with deadly accuracy and speed.The armies were vastly outnumbered and even worse, they were out skilled in warfare, for the militants they fought with a gruesome vengeance and hatred.
       They want to win in the battle no matter what happened, they know where to hide that is there place, they are not afraid of whatever the result of this war. It take many hours and many days run and hide from the place of the war zone.You can see the chaos in the place, the innocent victims, the children run from one place to another, women crying for peace , for justice. "For how long we will be like this?, For how long we will running for our lives"?,shouted by an old woman.
        The shooting and fighting slowly diminished and finally stopped. The only sounds heard now were women crying and screaming and the anguished moans from the still surviving wounded. No one shouts for victorious! No one claimed they won in the battle.Fires burn here and there, destroying months of hard, back-breaking world , new houses and school buildings, market, amusement parks and offices, everywhere what you see is nothing... it's all gone, the effort made by the people who is trying to make their live simple and peaceful. But, because of self interests, power and belief will result and end like this.
         Persia Ashier-ah had never felt such soul-shaking , heart-rending terror, What could be happening?, the shooting, the bombing, had ceased and all she could hear were Militants yells, cries of pain, screams, and speech of an unknown tongue. This can't be happening, she thought again and again. It's all a nightmare and I'll wake up soon. But she knew that it was not and that all were either dead or prisoners.What had happened to her family? She knew that she must remain quiet and still to avoid discovery. She is trembled with nervous and almost shout, to scream to ease her frightened spirit.
          Thoughts of her family, her parents, brothers and sisters had brought tears to her eyes. She trembled in fear and uncertainty. What can I do now? she fretted. What if they burn the house? I smell smoke already! The cupboard where she hides was only a little more than body size and allowed to almost no movement.What if they find me? What would they do to me? Army or militant who ever is coming , I am so frightened.She heard a crash outside the cupboard where she is and chairs and table were flung across the floor. Someone was in the kitchen! Her heart pounded do loud and hard that she feared they would hear it.
           Suddenly, her eyes went wild in panic and she could not suppress the scream in her throat as boards were picked up and thrown aside. Before she could gather her wits as to what is happening, she was roughly yanked up and thrown aside.She turned to fight her attacker, scratching , biting and kicking.She was immediately tied with rope like an animal that was been captured.The smell of fire, sweat and blood filled with her nostrils, terror ruled her senses. She was white-faced and quacking with fear.She stared in believing that this will be the end.Looking for some faces, she wants to see her family, where are they? Still no sign from anyone of them.

War is over and Persia returned home from five years in prison , accusing her by being a militant. Her education in college was turn into nothing. She stop because of that, her parents wants to help her but even her parents were also one of the suspects. Some of the related stories may fictitious or not but the effect is deteriorating. How can we make our life prosperous if we destroying the essence of it. Why not peace, love and understanding should prevail in this chaos world. If we believe in ourselves then we must believe to our creator. To our God , for only God the powerful who can unite us and bind us as one.As Martin Luther King says, ":Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a means by which we arrive at the goal". And " to feel the intimacy of brothers is a marvelous thing in life. To feel the love of people whom we love is a fire that feeds our life . But to feel the affection that comes from those whom we do not know, from those unknown to us-that is something still greater and more beautiful because it widens out the boundaries of our being, and unites us all", words from Pablo Neruda an author of so many writings.Reminds us to always look forward for peace and harmony.There is no problem that we can't solve no matter how big it is, how difficult we suffer from poverty and sickness of the world. There is always tomorrow and that is if we will be united and understand each other regardless of tradition,customs, race, breeding and belief.-mahaliahscent

Alyssa opened the door to her small, two-room, studio apartment and stepped outside to throw out the garbage. She took the opportunity to take in a few breaths of the marginally fresher air out in the street. She could taste the fetid air of the apartment in the back of her throat. Alyssa gave a jump as a large, grey rat scurried through her legs and out into the street. She aimed a kick at it and almost screamed in her frustration and despair. It was late in the morning ... she had woken up late after a 24 hour shift at work. To be precise: at the three different jobs she was holding down at present. Alyssa was working all the hours God gave her simply to survive and to make ends meet. Still, she reflected bitterly on the state of her home and the run-down neighbourhood in which she lived.

It was the noise of the garbage truck outside that woke her. The whole area was too noisy but she’d gotten used to it. She could probably sleep through a raging hurricane with the practice she’d had. Despite her inner grumblings the people in the neighbourhood were good to her. They’d made her feel welcome in the area and were willing to offer their help and support in whatever way they could.

Alyssa turned to go back into her squalid little home. As she did so, she heard a commotion – something was flaring up further down the street. At that moment, shots rang out and Alyssa instinctively crouched down and cowered in the door-frame. Stones, thrown from nowhere, rattled against the pavement and the side of her building, almost hitting her in the face.

More gang trouble, Alyssa thought to herself. Yet what do we expect in a place like this? Her mind added by way of explanation.

Alyssa scurried inside and hurriedly closed the door, securing the double locks and the security bar. She then rushed to the windows and secured them also. Tell-tale signs of the sort of neighbourhood in which she was forced to eke out her sorry existence. Alyssa then got down on the floor – a position she often adopted at times like these – to avoid stray bullets that might burst through the thin walls of her apartment.

Alyssa’s solitary occupation of her squalid little home comes as no surprise – such an environment of poverty and violence was no place for decent folk. Her parents and other family members had long since moved to villages outside the sprawling metropolis to avoid the risks. It was almost as if some people in the community were not happy unless there was some sort of feud going on, with violence and injury, even death, frequent consequences of such disagreements.

“Aren’t you afraid? Don’t you fear for your own life?” we asked Alyssa on one visit - a visit which brought us much closer to the real dangers of the neighbourhood than we wished as Police pursued a group of burglars. The tension was too much to bear and I found myself wondering if I was going to die here. Yet I looked at Alyssa as she sat calmly drinking her morning coffee and reading the newspaper.

“Sit down. Relax. Let the Police and the military handle it.”

After 3 hours of hiding in that cramped little studio, fearing that the trouble might suddenly burst through the door, we heard only the sirens of Police cars and ambulances. As we raised our heads to peep through the windows, we saw only groups of curious bystanders looking on as the Police and emergency personnel went about their duties. Many of the public were taking up positions and posing for the cameras of the numerous media who had gathered to report on the incident and witness the arrest of the criminals.

I look again at Alyssa… “How can you stay here?” I ask. “It’s not safe”

“Where else can I find a rent-free place to stay?” She replies. “I can’t afford to move somewhere else”

“But how can you move on in your life if you stay here?” I press, hoping to convince her to move away…

“Maybe if I got a good job and a good salary, I could move out…” Alyssa said, somewhat sardonically, knowing that that was the end of the discussion.

That was five years ago. Since that day, I had never returned to see Alyssa.

As I turned to leave my house and attend to my morning schedule, my attention was caught by an item on the local news programme on the television. There had been another Police raid in that very same neighbourhood where Alyssa lived. The face on the screen was suddenly so familiar to me… is that Alyssa? How, when did she become this person I am seeing? She used to be this meek, innocent, passive person. Couldn’t fight, could only hide on the floor in times of trouble. Brave, yes – but only because she could live in that slum for so long.

“Sgt Alyssa M. Mohad – the assault team leader…” the report continued.

So. She never gave up on her studies. Finished her degree in Business Management and now she is a Police Officer, assault team leader, a crime-buster.

“Hmmmm… I hope she’ll tell us how she became a Police Officer and how she changed her character when we all meet up for our grand 25^th anniversary High School reunion”.

I need to get a move on and get to my office as it’s a busy day ahead. But at least I can go, confident that I need no longer worry about my best friend who I’d not seen for so long…

Am I to be Blamed...Can't Read but I do Understand

               One day my English teacher called me to read aloud the textbook. When I told her, "No mam, thank you," she came annoyed and blushed. She thought I was acting smart, and told me so. I kept calm, and that got her upset and very much upset. We must have spent ten minutes trying to solve the problem, and finally she got so red in the face I thought she'd blow up. She told me, "I should see you after class, Miel".
Maybe someone like me was a new thing for that teacher. But she wasn't new to me. I've been through scenes like that all my life. You see, even though I'm eighteen and senior high school, I can't read because I have dyslexia. I remember when I was in grade four I was told to read but I was given books to read and leave in the corner, they thought I was reading then, but I am not. Unless you sit with me and guide me I can read but without anyone guide me it takes me sometime to read even a single word or phrase.
             My family began to suspect I was having problems almost from the first day I started school. My father says my early years in school were the worst years of his life. They weren't so good for me, either. As I look back on it now, I can't find the words to express how bad it really was, I wanted to die. I'd come home from school screaming, "I'm dumb. I wish I were dead!"
             I guess I couldn't read anything at all then- not even my own name- and they tell me I didn't talk as good as other kids. But what I remember about those days, is that I couldn't swim, and I wouldn't learn to ride a bike, because no matter what anyone told me, I knew I'd fail.
             Sometimes my teachers would try to be encouraging. When I couldn't read the words on the board they'd say, "Come on, Miel, you know dumb was how the kids treated me. They'd make fun of me every chance they got, asking me to spell my name, my four letters name or something like that. Even if I knew how to spell it, I wouldn't; they'd only give me another word. Anyway, it was awful.because more than anything I wanted friends. On my birthday when I blew out the candles I didn't wish I could learn to read; what I wished for was that the kids would like me.
             With the bad reports coming from school, and with the meaning about wanting to die and how everybody hated me, my parents began looking for help. That's when the testing started. The school tested me; the child-guidance center tested me; private psychiatrists tested me.Everybody knew something was wrong-especially me.
             It didn't help much when they stuck a fancy name onto it. I couldn't pronounce it then; I was only in second grade- and I was ashamed to talk about it. Now it rolls off my tongue, because I've been living with it for a lot of years-dyslexia.
             All through elementary grade it wasn't easy. I was always having to do things that were "different," things the other kids didn't have to do. I had to go to a child psychiatrist, for instance.
One summer my family forced me to go to a center for children with reading problems. I hated and afraid the idea, but center training turned out pretty good, and I had a good time. I met a lot of kids who couldn't read and somehow that helped. The principal of the center said I had a higher I.Q. than 90% of the population. I didn't believe him.
            About the worst thing I had to do in fifth and sixth grade was to go to special education class in another school in our place. A school bus picked me up, and I didn't like that at all. The bus also picked up emotionally disturbed kids and retarded kids. It was like going to school for the retarded. I always worried that someone I knew would see me on that bus. It was a relief to go to the regular senior high school.
Life began to change a little for me then, because I began to feel good about myself. I found the teachers cared; they had meetings about me and I worked harder for them for a while. I began to work on the paper art, draw a painting that the teachers said were pretty good. Also, I got an invitation letter for the debating team. I could speak well without fear and very much confidence with fluency and bright ideas.
                At high school the teachers are good and everyone is trying to help me. I've gotten honors in some marking periods and I've won a letter on the cross-country team. Next quarter I think the school might hold a show of my instance, every time there is writing in the class,I get up and go to the special education room. Kids ask me where I go all the time. Sometimes I say, "to Outerspace."
                Homework is a real problem. During free periods in school I go to the special room and staff members read assignments to me. When I get home my mother reads to me. Sometimes she reads an assignment into a tape recorder, and then I go to my room and listen to it. If we have a novel or something like that to read she reads it out loud to me. Then I sit down with her and we do the assignment. She'll write, while I talk my answers to her. Lately I've taken to dictating into a tape recorder, and then someone-my father, a private tutor, or my mother-encoded what I've dictated. Whatever homework I do takes someone else's time, too. That makes me feel bad.
                We had a big meeting in school the other day- ten of us, five from the guidance department, my private tutor, my parents, and me. The subject was me. I said I wanted to go to college, and they told about colleges that have facilities and staff to handle people like me. That's nice to hear.
                As for what happens after college, I don't know and I'm worried about that. How can I make a living if I can't read? Who will hire me? How will I fill up the application form? The only thing that gives me any courage is the fact that I've learned about well-known people who couldn't read or had other problems and still made it. Like Albert Einstein, who didn't talk until he was four and flunked math.Like Leonardo da Vinci, who everyone seems to think had dyslexia.
               I've told this story to my favorite one, who always there when I needed her most. Who always do all my unfinished task, who have no fear and worries about my shortcomings. Who always ease my pain, my worries and tension. She who next to my mom who I love her most. She is the only person who understand me. And I told her to write this for me. I want the whole world to know that I am still pushing myself to read and excel in reading.I've told this story because maybe some teacher will read it and go easy on a student in the classroom who was what I've got. Or maybe some parent will stop nagging their child, and stop calling him lazy and dumb. I remember, when I was in my grandmother's house because my mom was so busy in her work and my dad too. When I can't read she pinch me and get her long stick and stabbed me anywhere she likes and telling me, "your lazy, dumb and Idiot!"I am not lazy or dumb and not even idiot, I am sick and needs help.
       I cherished the moment when I am with Yaassmeen, Thanks to God He send me a person like her as my private tutor, my angel!, I rather say. She who encourage me to be brave and not to be lazy. She is the only person I entrust my story. Never told a child that she or he is lazy or dumb. Maybe he's not lazy or dumb. Maybe he or she can't read and doesn't know what's wrong, maybe he or she's scared, like I was. Maybe... when you're reading this... I am with Him and I know I've done my very best, proving myself that at least I try to excel in reading. When I received the award during the recognition, "best in reading", I was very happy then. I know even I leave in this world I prove to myself and to my parents that I am no longer scared, that I can beat anyone. I have so many dreams to fulfill but life for me is too short. I was diagnosed for brain cancer and any moment my eyes will closed but with her, with Yaassmeen.. I want to tell the whole world... no kids is lazy and dumb.
                Fear and worries that is the reason why sometimes were silent.But this time, I am not scared, I am brave to face my destiny. I hope and pray in the next world life for me is no longer painful. I wish to continue what I have started now that I know I can read but we cannot stop what would be our fate. For one last word, I thank all the people who save and challenge me. Am I to be blamed? maybe not but I prove to myself I can do the task. It is just a matter of belief and confidence.And to the most, to Him who always open to hear and listens to our problems, our God.- mahaliahscent

Flash of Light...

                         Once I came upon a soul weeping silently by the edge of a whirlwind site. It pained me keenly to see a thing so sad, and so I went up to him and touched him lightly on his broken little wings. He seemed surprised, and when he looked at me, I saw his eyes with a light in him strangely familiar.
   "Did I disturb you, friend?" I asked.
                         "No, but you touched me when I am weak, alone and lonely."
                         "And why is it your weak, alone and lonely?"
                         "I am looking for a true friend, I came from no where, too far from you, but I came for you fear and bravely, and the strong wind buffered me, and my struggles went off just to see and near with you.
"And why did you fly so far and bravely, friend?"
                          "I was following the light. I want to be near with you, feel you and touch you. Then suddenly a flare got into my left eye, then to my right eye, and I could not see. All was is darkness, wishing you were here to guide me, accept me though its painful and sorrow acceptance of truth kills me. I cant deny I am lost in the dark. How I wish to see the light, the gleam and you is my life my light and my strength. But my soul search you with all trials and darkness. I beat the void more mightily than before. In my heart was no longer the memory of the gleam, but rebellion against the darkness in my eyes."
                          "And what then did you do?"
                          "I vowed vengeance against the void and the darkness, and I forgot the Gleam. Then I flew into a storm that mocked the daring of my strong belief, of my eagerness to fight and hurled me down beside this whirlwind site. I was looking into the mirror of the site, for now I can see but the light is gone , something has passed away from me.
                          "Not forever, friend," I assured him, "for there are new friends here, new friends to look after you and guide you. With me, you can follow the light, the path you've been looking for.
                           If you will come with me. I will take you to them where they cure the sick on the steps of the temple. The golden mosque where you can be at peace. No worries, no pain, no struggle. but there you will find peace and happiness. Fulfillment of ones desires, just accept Him. The greatest God , Allah.
                          "I will come with you because I trust you, because you are so kind, " and in scarcely audible whisper, "because I am your own soul."
                          "Then I knew why his eyes had looked so strangely familiar to me. And down the road we walked together, my soul, and I towards the temple whose tall spires gleamed silver bright in the rays of the setting sun.
                          "Yes, I am with you... and no doubt to go with you. With your strength and my belief... we will blessed by our faith and love. Happiness is not only here in this world but in paradise too.We should be thankful and praise Him and treasure His love.For with all our hearts only Him is our savior and our protector.

Somewhere….take my hand in time

Zheshkah Lal had grown- in small way-great; and by our sights she had prospered. Her husband was slim and frail and afraid of her. The people in the village pitied her for she had been working so hard for the family. She had to wake up early and prepare everything for her family before she went to work. Her father was the one who encourage her to marry to a man she never been her boyfriend. They had a child, a girl and a boy. There seemed to be a complete family of four. She loved her children so much. That’s why she works very hard. But that is not the issue; she had to work not only for her children but for her husband too who is frail and sickly.

Sarah Mashey was a thin petite woman who lived a little beyond Zheshkah on the same road. She lived in a small room condo with her husband and four children. In this stumbling steps that day; she climbed the stairs to Zheshkah’s little office and turned the knob to the office door.

Zheshkah said angrily, “Come in! Do you want me to get upset with you? This time what is your business with me?”zheshkah asked Sarah. Sarah shuffled in and closed the door behind her. How are you, Ms. Lal ! Zheshkah said, “What’s your business? You had a lot of things to settle this time.”Sarah nodded. “Yeah, I know, Ms. Lal. But I can settle that all.”

Lal exclaimed impatiently. “An old story! How will you escape from what you have been through? Everyone knows what is going through, you cannot hide yourself. You need to decide now or maybe you will not be out of the cage you’ve been through all this years. I was about to speak when we heard a tip toe of shoes few meters from the stairs, maybe that’s him. You go back there I don’t want him to see me talking to you. Sarah took a piece of bread she saw in the dining table and sip a little of coffee, she seems very hungry. “He didn’t feed you at all? Alright, take the slices of bread and take some sweet potatoes too. “Sarah nodded and say, “thank you!” She hurriedly runs to her unit and after a while silence was break by a horrible shout of a familiar voice from his monster husband. Why we called him monster? Everyone in the village knows what he is doing to his family. Sarah just doesn’t fight with him for she is afraid with him and because of her children too. She wants complete family and she will sacrifice for her children. I heard how Sarah painfully screaming with pain saying “Please stop, it hurts, the children they will be affected, don’t do this please!”Screaming of pain and tears of children saying… “Stop it papa! Stop it!”I don’t know how it took me sometimes listening and tears of pain feel in to my nerves. Then for a while silence again… I heard no noise but empty cries of Sarah and kids. I peeped in the window and saw him going out with huge bag on his back. I hurriedly came in to the house and I saw my friend Sarah was bleeding, I couldn’t imagine how she suffers this much, for so many years of silence, pretending to be happy, to just save marriage for what? I held her hand and she hold my hands trying to talk but no sounds came out from her bleeding mouth.”Zsssssh, Calm down I’m here for you I’ll take you to the hospital.”I glance once again to her children, the eldest keep busy fixing the broken chairs, second is also sweeping the floor of broken glasses scattered on the floor and the baby twins crying in the crib, an innocent look of reality that brought by misery. I want to cry and clinched my fist, how cruel he is. He is so unfair! He must be punished, a man like him should not be loved. Why Sarah?

She had been a good wife, a working mother, she work a lot for her family...Why life is so unfair to her. "Hematoma, and she needs surgery, for her CT scan results of brain damage. She needs surgery at once,” doctor says, a minute from now. Sarah has no family except his strange husband and the kids and I consider her as my family, so I decided to sign the consent for her surgery to save her life. I don’t know how many hours I spent my time in the chapel, looking for his face asking him once again to give Sarah a chance to live even in this world ,...life for her is so unfair but because of her children, she needed most by her children. “Please, Lord God let her live!” It was almost 2:00 o’clock in the morning when the nurse wake me up." She is now in the ICU, operation was successful", nurse said. I thank God he heard my prayers. I rush into her room and saw her, tears from my eyes seemingly feel the pain from her swollen face."There will be tomorrow for you my friend, I know God is powerful he will save you and your children".

After that incident, I heard Sarah went to the province with her kids and we don’t have any news from her except that she work abroad and no news from him too. Ten years had past and I am preparing myself to work when my eldest daughter caught my attention. “Mommy, look at the window! A limousine car park outside, do you expect some visitors?” Lucky said. “No, I said. I don’t have a rich friend maybe that is our neighbor’s visitor.”I went out to see who is there, and with all my surprise... It’s her, Sarah is that you? That face is so familiar to me; you look good and so beautiful. We talk a lot and I am so happy with her. All her children are big now, two of them are now working in the office and the twins are in college now. They all move in Colorado and no news from him, and I didn’t ask her about him. I know she is now free and her freedom brings her success for her and for her children. Tears of joy from her beautiful face, she again hold my hand hug me and say, “Thank you my friend, you never leave me when I needed you most”. I can’t see her car anymore but I am still waiving, I can’t believe it will come true. I held my head up in the sky and offer prayer. Thank you Lord God you save my friend, Thank you for keeping her with you and her children too.

“Mommy, it’s getting late now. Were going or not?” Yes lucky let’s go. I again look at my watch and took my bag and it’s getting late now. I also work too much for my family but at least my husband afraid of me and never hurt me at all. Because he loves me so much, we help one another for our future. I go back to the house and give my husband Bill a kiss and bade him goodbye.” take care Janie, I’ll see you tonight. Common, lucky let’s go!

                         Zheshkah Lal closed her eyes as Bill Khan pulled her into his arms for a long passionate kiss. The nighttime sounds of the forest surrounded them, and a soft, pine-scented breeze ruffled through Zheshka's long black hair.
                         "I wish this night could go on forever," Bill whispered, leaving back against the side of the old dilapidated house.
                           Zheshkah sighed and rested her head on his shoulder. She and Bill had just returned from a romantic midnight Jetzy ride on CwC.wake board. An infinite number of stars twinkled in the sky, and a bright crescent moon cart a shimmering silver glow over the sea. It was as if they were in their own special, magical world. Being with Bill seemed so right.
                          But it's not right, a small voice inside her said. Hundreds of miles away, at a training camp Los Angeles, her longtime boyfriend, Corey Partrigde, believed she was being faithful.Zheshkah wrapped her arms more tightly around Bill's strong back and pushed aside the thought.
                          "Now that were together again, I never want to let you go." Bill whispered.
                          "I know, " She murmured. The past few days have been horrible, seeing you and Irene Galicia together,,,, Who is she?"
                           Bill stopped her words with a soft kiss." A new beginning. Zheshkah, from this moment on Let's agree to start over and make most of the time we have."
                           She gazed longly into his brown gray eyes and nodded. "I rene Galicia Ferrer, I dont even know her. I just saw her name card when i check your wallet, maybe one of your client, a friend... I dont know?" But friend's say they saw you with her sometimes, Bill and Irene going out together. "Hey! a pity thoughts again?", Bill asked, "You jealous?, " "No, just thinking something maybe I was wrong.I trust you, and that trust will always remain, but I will listen to you what ever you say and I smile and hug him. I will never give you up and want to live with you forever. I wont leave you Bill," as I whispered him.
                           "You're so special too," Bill whispered as he ran his fingers through her long black hair. Now, seeing the look of admiration in his eyes, she was glad she hadn't.
                            "At first, spending a month with you, or maybe years with you... but wish it would be lifetime... forever my Zheshkah". Seems we both busy but you have all the time to look after me. I wont be like this if not because of you. Your patience , understanding and love makes my world go round.I feel my importance if I am with you.I am a performing arts and you a busy computer engineer. We don't have the same interests, not the same lifestyles.. but you never give up. you always there to support me and never failed me. Aren't you not tired of me?" Why, am I tired and boring to you? Bill asked. Hmmmmm ...again stupid questions you always like that.. asking me the same questions again and again."
                             "Are you cold?" Bill asked softly. His warm breath tickled Zheshkah's ear.
                             Zheshkah pushed Irene out of her mind." What would you do for me if I was?" She challenged in a flirtatious tone," Bill cocked her head, as if thinking it over carefully, " I'd give you the shirt off my back."
                             Zheshkah laughed softly running her lips softly against his," you're to kind," she teased.
                             He looked down at his dark black university sweatshirt, you're right."
                             She laughed and showed him playfully.
                             "Alright, it's yours," he said. "No, really, Bill, I'm fine, "she protested."
                              " Your arms are covered with goose bumps", he said, slipping his shirt over her head.
                             "It was too big". she said, laughing, " But it's so nice and warm. You may never get it back." she told her playfully as she rolled up the sleeves to her wrists.
                             He cupped her chin in his hands. "I'm sure you can have or many sweatshirts if you want, but mine is one of a kind."
                            Zheshkah felt a rush of pleasure. She knew he was referring to more than just her looks. After all, her looks weren't unique at all, but she seems so very special to Bill. I hope and always hope he would remain the same and wont look for another Irene or any other woman except me. "What about Irene?" I asked. Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha... she is nothing, just my friend interest.. not for me of course but for my friend. He held my hand and said, "no one except you in my life in this world and even in paradise we will be together, you and me only... only you my Zheshkah."
                            "You know, "you're a great actress sometimes but like I said, you're one of a kind."
"Hmmmmm. how many more minutes it takes for you to finish your paper works? Would you like to rest now? It's nearly midnight and Bill said, stop what you doin right now.stop writing. We didn't go in CwC wakeboard just writing and finish your work! We came here to relax and we need to rest now! just continue your work tomorrow , alright!." Bill slipped his finger on my hair and give me a kiss, we sleep now Jani." Bill said.
                           "I stop my work and we went to bed.
