SPACE foi selecionado entre vários escritórios de arquitetura para projetar a nova sala de embarque final de uma marca reconhecida de serviços financeiros e cartões de crédito. Este projeto está localizado no terminal 2 do aeroporto da Cidade do México.

O desafio não foi claro e direto, o cliente estava procurando por um projeto que reuniu muitas coisas ao mesmo tempo. Os principais desafios foram para gerar um espaço polivalente que possa representar uma imagem contemporânea e cosmopolita, que resumem a marca para criar uma nova experiência, num mundo globalizado em que as marcas e produtos estão em uma corrida desenfreada para se posicionar na mente dos clientes para usar os espaços construídos como uma extensão natural da marca, um desafio complicado, mas vital.

Uma equipe especializada Branding foi utilizado para este projeto, que juntamente com os arquitetos gerou uma metodologia híbrida como resultado da mistura de Branding e Arquitetura. Os conceitos de concepção do projeto surgiu como consequência de uma pesquisa para a definição da marca é "emocional" promessa ", que quer dizer que o projeto foi desenvolvido em torno da idéia de conceber um grupo de bem trabalhadas as emoções que se desenvolvem como conseqüência de uma experiência de marca.

Para ser convincente, a experiência teria de ser uma experiência sensorial, uma experiência que incluiria todos os sentidos e que procuram despertar as emoções.

SPACE was selected from among several architecture firms to design the new final departure lounge for a recognized brand of financial services and credit cards. This project is located at terminal 2 of Mexico City airport.

The challenge was not straight-forward, the customer was looking for a design that brought together many things at the same time. The main challenges were to generate a multi-purpose space that would represent a contemporary and cosmopolitan image that summarize the brand to design a new experience, in a globalized world in which the brands and products are in a headlong race to position themselves in the minds of the customers to use built spaces as a natural extension of the brand, a complicated but vital challenge.

A specialized Branding team was used for this project, who together with the architects generated a hybrid methodology as a result of mixing Branding and architecture. The project design concepts emerged as a consequence of a search for the definition of the brand’s “emotional promise”, that is to say that the project was developed around the idea of designing a group of well worked out emotions that would develop as a consequence of a brand experience.

To be convincing, the experience would have to be a sensory experience, an experience that would include all senses and that would seek to arouse the emotions.

Ousting 17 other companies from Europe, USA and Africa, SHoP Architects was awarded first prize for their design of the Botswana Innovation Hub. The 270,000 sqf office and research building will be a testament to Botswana’s support of research, as well as her promotion of innovation and entrepreneurship.

As the hub is comprised of state of the art laboratory spaces for “technology-drive and knowledge-intensive foreign and local businesses,” it seems only fitting that SHoP incorporate the latest green technology available. The most dominate sustainable technique is SHoP’s “energy blanket” roofscape – a system that combines passive and active systems. Large overhangs passively shade the building’s interior volumes, while mechanisms collect and re-use water, and both passive and active photovoltaic systems harness solar energy. With this new roof, the passive and active systems will offset at least half of the building’s operational energy costs.

Dupli Casa is the residence near Ludwigsburg, Germany. The house geometry is based on the house which was there before J. MAYER H. redesigned it. The villa has three floors. On the top level each bedroom protrudes, from the core of the house. On this floor the windows are angled to reveal specific views of the surrounding landscape and buildings – one being David Chipperfield’s Museum of Modern Literature across the valley in Marbach am Neckar. There are both outdoors and indoors swimming pools. The building’s middle floor is treated as a public space, with a big atrium in the lobby and large panoramic windows creating a sense of spectacle. Outdoors and indoors looks made in very modern even futuristic style. White and dark colors are always come hand by hand in such house designs.

Klein Bottle Holiday House by Rob McBride

The winner of the 2008 Australian Institute of Architects Robin Boyd Award for Residential Architecture, the Klein Bottle House is a holiday house located on the Mornington Peninsula. The place is approximately an hour’s drive from Melbourne. The unusual home design is generated from a mathematical model. The “Klein Bottle” in mathematics is a non-orientable surface (a surface with no distinction between the “inside” and “outside”). The house revolves around a central courtyard, a grand regal stair connecting all the levels. The carefully sculpted, angled space of the living area is both a revelation and a delight. Being experimental gives house a bit futuristic look. Red colored interior spaces and contemporary furniture just makes that look stronger.

As noted by the National Architecture Awards jury “the overall perception of the house is one of a distinctive new language for domestic architecture, a language that draws from mathematics to develop an architecture of excitement, intrigue and new possibilities.”

McBride Charles Ryan is Australian house design company which mostly specialize in experimental designs. Their other project, Klein Bottle House was mathematics experiment when this house is a try to create sphere shaped house without unnecessary parts. By selectively removing parts of the sphere, there is the sense internally of being in and surrounded by garden. The spherical shell also provides beautiful internal spaces on the first floor.

The interior in contrast to the exterior mostly has linear forms which sometimes look as puzzle components. Rainwater is collected from the copper clad roof by concealed gutters and is stored in rainwater tanks installed under the south desk. The dome house also utilizes solar hot water, a drip garden watering system and double glazing to maximize energy efficiency. These simple sustainable elements have been integrated into the home so as to have minimal aesthetic impact.

Seus outros projetos, Klein Bottle House foi a matemática experimentada, enquando esta casa é uma tentativa de criar casa em forma de esfera, sem partes desnecessárias. Ao remover seletivamente partes da esfera, há a sensação de estar no interior e rodeado por um jardim. A casca esférica também oferece belos espaços internos no primeiro andar.

O interior, em contraste com o exterior na sua maioria tem formas lineares, que por vezes ao olhar pareçem como elementos de quebra-cabeça. Não apenas as formas, mas as cores e os materiais usados dão uma impressão de quebra-cabeça não cuidadosamente reunidos. Apesar de tais misturas não levar o conforto da casa. Nesta casa também estão usandos uma quantidade signigficativa dea"tecnologias verdes".

A água da chuva é recolhida do telhado de cobre revestido por calhas escondido e é armazenado em tanques de águas pluviais instalada sob a mesa para o sul. A casa cúpula também utiliza água quente solar, um sistema de rega gota a gota jardim e janelas com vidros duplos para maximizar a eficiência energética. Estes elementos simples e sustentável foram integrados nacasa de modo a ter um impacto estético mínimo.

It links three horizontal extrusions of “leaning,” or asymmetrical A-frames. The skinny A-frame on the western side contains the library, wine cellar and garage. The wide A-frame in the center of the house is dedicated to two floors of bedrooms and bathrooms. The medium A-frame on the eastern side consists of living, kitchen and dining areas. Vdara Hotel in CityCenter Las Vegas by Rafael Vinoly

Situated between the ARIA Resort & Casino and the Bellagio CityCenter of Las Vegas, The Vdara Hotel & Spa has launched in December 1, 2009. This building was designed by Rafael Vinoly of RV Architecture, LLC. In keeping with the sustainable focus of the overall CityCenter development, Vdara Hotel & Spa was designed to meet and has achieved LEED Gold certification. Sustainable features include the use of ecologically friendly construction materials (local and low-VOC) and the use of light-coloured surfaces on the pool deck and roof, which reduces the urban heat island effect.

The 1.6 million-square-foot, 57-story Vdara is distinguished by its slender profile and curvature, which respond to Harmon Circle and the interlocking arcs of ARIA Resort & Casino located across the shared circular drive. Three parallel, offset arcs rising to varying heights comprise the crescent-shaped skyscraper. The horizontally-striped curtain wall frames the vistas of Las Vegas and the expansive desert landscape beyond. Alternating bands of reflective vision glass and light-diffusing, acid-etched spandrel glass in black and white are set off on different planes to achieve a unique shimmering texture on the façade. Modern, light, and devoid of graphics or ornaments, Vdara presents a distinctive contrast to the themed buildings of the Las Vegas Strip.

A curved pool deck located over Harmon Circle shelters a generous porte-cochere and main lobby. The lobby’s focal point is Bar Vdara, a lounge and bar with covered outdoor seating that segues into Silk Road restaurant. Other amenities include the two-level Vdara Health & Beauty – a full-service wellness spa, salon and fitness center. Sky Pool & Lounge, the south-facing pool deck which enjoys long hours of sunlight exposure, offers private spa cabanas and semi-secluded plunge pools. The program also includes a conference center with meeting rooms, a sub-divisible 4,000 square-foot ballroom, a boardroom, and a pre-function/registration area – serviced by Vdara’s kitchen.

Vdara’s 1,495 suites are wide and shallow when compared to most hotel rooms and residential apartments, maximizing views and daylight penetration. An additional benefit of the staggered three-arc floor plan is the creation of six corner rooms compared to four in a more conventional building.

The Yaz Hotel situated in the heart of the new Formula 1 circuit in Abu Dhabi. This hotel designed with modern architectural concept by New York-based practice architect Asymptote Architecture. The curvilinear form of the Yas Hotel has been designed, and appears as, an icon of the event, one which in legacy is sure to encourage Formula 1 success in the UAE capital. Its curvilinear grid-shell which is covered with over 5,300 diamond-shaped steel panels, containing nearly 5000 LED fixtures is being announced as the world’s largest LED project controlled through RDM . It is the first hotel ever to span a Grand Prix race track, its bridge allowing an unparalleled view of the action to lucky guests.

Of architectural and engineering significance is the main feature of the project’s design, a 217-meter expanse of sweeping, curvilinear forms constructed of steel and 5,800 pivoting diamond-shaped glass panels. This Grid-Shell component affords the building architecture comprised of an atmospheric-like veil that contains two hotel towers and a link bridge constructed as a monocoque sculpted steel object passing above the Formula 1 track that makes its way through the building complex. The Grid-Shell visually connects and fuses the entire complex together while producing optical effects and spectral reflections that play against the surrounding sky, sea and desert landscape.

La Mola Hotel and Conference Centre in Barcelona by b720 Arquitectos

This building located in Camí de Can Bon Vilar, Terrassa, Barcelona, Spain designed by Fermín Vázquez architects as part of b720 Arquitectos. The project involves the construction of a hotel complex of 186 rooms with complementary services, meeting and convention spaces, auditoriums, multipurpose rooms and other services related to health and wellness. Two of the volumes house the rooms settled out longitudinally along a central corridor on three floors above ground. The rooms on the south facade have balconies and a sunscreen formed by some mobile slides of perforated sheet designed as a large coloured curtain. A third prismatic volume, similar but of greater height between floors, hosts the conventions centre.

This building was proposed as an architectural design that respects the natural environment in which it is situated. Because of this, it was given special attention to the layout of the different volumes built. Thus, most of the trees of the place remained in its initial location and a lower part of them were transplanted. Furthermore, the plot was populated with trees to form a garden where irrigation is resolved entirely by the recycling of gray water generated in the centre.

Extensive areas of glass facades allow maximum use of natural light in winter while in summer the adjustment of various solar control systems prevents the overheating of the stays. Moreover, the system allows free cooling in a controlled way the favourable conditions of the outside air, thus reducing the need of artificial air conditioning. Solar panels located on the roofs of two buildings help to reduce energy consumption for the generation of hot water. The predominant use of concrete, combined with pine wood closures and decks gardened, provides a whole unit making it a peaceful space, integrated into its surroundings. The outdoor areas have been addressed by creating paths and landscaped areas of rest and meeting that interconnect with each one of the buildings.

The Zurich based architecture office EM2N commissioned from MZ Immobilien AG design modern architectural hotel building in Zug Switzerland called Hotel City Garden. This hotel building planned to erect a temporary ancillary hotel building on a public site that in 12 to 15 years time will be used as the services area for a road building project. The sculptural facade corresponds with an internal corridor figure; the building is given a head and an end. The idyllic location between the trees on the edge of the woods led to the idea of a reflective facade of polished chrome steel.

Despite the limited life- span this hotel was to meet the requirements of a four-star facility and to have an unmistakable character, serial character of hotel buildings. The standard layout of bedrooms next to each other is transformed into an expressive building volume by swiveling the module. The faceted building volume mirrors its natural surroundings and transforms the place into a kaleidoscope of building and nature. The short period for which the building will be used called for a time-saving construction method, which led to the use of a combined system timber frame braced by a concrete core. - EM2N Architects

The East Hotel, a new modern business hotel situated in Tai Koo Shing, next to Cityplaza Hong-Kong. This hotel designed by award-winning Hong Kong based architect and interior design studio CL3 Architects. The hotel featured 345 guest rooms, including 6 suites, all of which will maximize the harbor and urban views. he name “EAST” resulted from the design concept which interprets the contemporary Oriental/Hong Kong travel experience as being world class, efficient, modern, playful, with a touch of Chinese culture.

The architects have successfully produced a contemporary, relaxed, sensuous and environmentally friendly setting using textures, colours and materials to reflect an eastern sophistication whilst incorporating every modern convenience. Innovative planning to maximize the feeling of space including harbor and urban views has created 345 well-appointed guest rooms ranging from 28 sqm to 60 sqm in size. CL3 Architects utilized natural materials such as limestone, wood and bamboo flooring to make guest rooms feel invitingly natural and cozy whilst a sense of space is created by a free-standing vanity counter blurring the boundary between bedrooms and bathrooms. Aedas Architecture commissioned by Nan Fung China Development ltd to design a new hotel located in Guangzhou, China. This project called Pazhou Hotel, will be completed in 2012. The project sited on 159,142 sq.m., fronts directly onto one side of the water the location affords views to the water from both directions. The lobby, which straddles the other side of the pre-function concourse for the exhibition hall, has stacked support spaces until the fourth floor where these supporting functions have space to open up horizontally.A grand 60 meter atrium ties all these activities together, which is surrounded by the hotel rooms of the tower. Sliding floor plates break down the bulky mass and allow light to enter the inner exhibition hall. The lower levels include multiple levels of retail spaces, an exhibition hall and eateries, and there is a connection to a subway station on the lower floor.
