Hollywood actor John Travolta was all praises for Ram-leela star Deepika Padukone as he attended IIFA gala in US.

"I recently saw the Romeo and Juliet film, Ram-leela. In that the first musical number was wow. I love the actress in Ram-Leela, (Deepika Padukone) she is amazing," he said.

Travolta will be honoured with the most popular International star of all time award at IIFA.

"I think awards like IIFA has a lot of credibility. I am happy to be a part of the grand celebration this year. There are so many awards (in the west) that the charm of the Oscars have diminished, no one can see the difference between the Golden Globes or the Oscars, I think in yours this (IIFA) is the big one and your country and people approve that," he said.

New Delhi, May 7 -- James Bond might have been on the big screen for over fifty years with numerous car chases, fight scenes, passionate love affairs and showdowns with despicable bad guys, but there's no rest for the wickedly charming.

What's more, the present Bond, played by actor Daniel Craig, will return in the role of James Bond next year, in a sequel that's been dubbed James Bond 24. Director Sam Mendes recently also spoke about continuing Skyfall's story. "I started a number of stories that were incomplete. I cast a new M (Ralph Fiennes), I cast a new Moneypenny (Naomie Harris), I cast a new Q (Ben Wishaw), I cast a new Tanner (Rory Kinnear). There was a missing piece now. I felt like there was a way to create the second part of a two-part story. And then I got really interested again, when they agreed to wait a little longer and not go immediately," Mendes was quoted as saying on Screenrant.com.

The film's screenwriter John Logan, too, spoke about giving the new characters more screen space. "What we tried to do, and audiences seemed to embrace in Skyfall, was that for the first time characters were allowed to acknowledge the passing of the years," Logan said.

Singer Sanam Puri, who's riding high on success with his romantic ballad song Ishq Bulava from the movie Hasee to Phasee (2014), has recently composed and sung the song Main Hoon for the Hollywood film, Amazing Spider Man 2.

The 24-year-old sounded ecstatic, and said, "After Ishq Bulava, I am getting a lot of offers but this was something different. I got a call from the producers of the Amazing Spider Man 2 and they wanted me to compose a song for the film." It took him merely half a day to compose the number. "After I got the brief, I started working on the song with full concentration. It just took me half a day to compose it. My brother Samar wrote its lyrics," he says.

Ask him if he is featuring in the video and he says, "Yes, it's very sweet of the production house to let me feature in the video as well because I feel the singer can convey much more to the audience that way." Sanam was also happy that the makers of the film in America liked his song but at the same time is disheartened because his song was finalised at the last moment, so it couldn't make to the album.

Mumbai, May 7 -- It has always been a popular franchise in India, so it comes as no surprise that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has fared impressively at the Indian box office.

The Andrew Garfield-starrer's all-India net box office collection was over ' 28 crore on the opening weekend. The film hit screens on May 1 (it was released in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telegu). With that figure, it has surpassed the collections of several Bollywood films, like Main Tera Hero, Bhoothnath Returns, Queen, Dedh Ishqiya, which released this year.

Makers of the Spider-Man film claim that their latest movie has crossed the record set by its predecessor. According to the official press release, it has posted the highest-ever opening for a Hollywood film in India (it apparently grossed ' 41.7 crore on its four-day opening weekend).

"It's a huge franchise that already has a big connect with audiences. Plus, with the kind of cinematography, special effects and budgets such films have, people are bound to be in awe of their larger-than-life treatment," says trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

Going by the figures this year, only Jai Ho (over ' 58 crore), Gunday (over ' 40 crore) and 2 States (over ' 36 crore) have got bigger opening weekend than the Hollywood film. "Spider-Man is possibly the most famous superhero amongst kids in India. Iron Man, Captain America and the others are becoming famous now," says exhibitor-distributor Akshaye Rathi.

And experts agree that such a response is largely reserved for big-ticket franchises and not every film made. Film-maker Milan Luthria adds, "Also, thanks to Hollywood films, a number of subjects that otherwise wouldn't have found acceptance, have an audience now," he says.

Mumbai, May 10 -- He played Dr Rajit Ratha in The Amazing Spider-Man (2012). But now, we have learnt that if things go well, Irrfan Khan will portray one of the villains in the third instalment (scheduled for a 2016 release) of the superhero franchise.

Irrfan is in the running to play one of the Sinister Six, a group of villains that is hinted at the end of The Amazing Spider-Man 2. And apparently, the actor has already been asked to play a part, which is being described as an important one.

"Irrfan and Marc (Webb; director) share a great rapport ever since he worked in the first film. And although his role was a small one, Marc has been keen to work with Irrfan again. He has been approached for the part but things are yet to be finalised," says an insider.

When contacted, Irrfan, who has just returned from the US after having shot for Jurassic World, says, "I don't know about it (this role). No one has approached me for the film yet. Their film is still in the theatres. I think they will finalise the script and decide other things later."

When we contacted the studio (India division that is behind the franchise), one of the spokesperson's said it was "too early to comment on something like this."

Hollywood actor Emma Watson may soon be in a Bollywood movie. Speculation is rife that the Harry Potter star may feature alongside Sushant Singh Rajput in filmmaker Shekhar Kapoor's Paani.

It's believed that only Kapoor and producer Aditya Chopra are in the know about it. "The casting decisions are being kept secret. A huge announcement is planned soon," says an insider.

Mumbai, May 29 -- Tiger Shroff has garnered plenty of accolades for his action and dancing skills in his film. When word reached his role model, Hrithik Roshan, he expressed his interest in watching the movie.

Tiger was ecstatic to know this and arranged a special, private screening for Hrithik at YRF Studios on Tuesday (May 27) night. The actor happily obliged and not just appreciated Tiger's performance, but also shared a few tips with the debutant.

"Hrithik was quite visibly happy to see Tiger's performance. He even shared some tips which can help him grow successful as an actor. The two had a long talk after the film was over," says a source close to Tiger. They were accompanied by director Sabbir Khan and a couple of close acquaintances. "Tiger cleared his schedule and kept aside all his prior commitments to be with Hrithik during the private screening. He tried his best to keep this development from the media," adds the source.

That Tiger looks up to Hrithik was apparent in a recent interview, where he told us, "I respect Hrithik Roshan a lot. I think he's a complete actor and dancer. Just his presence changes everything. He's a true superstar and I see no weakness in him. I wish to imbibe his qualities in my professional life too." So, he was quite overwhelmed to be praised by an actor who is known to be a great dancer.

When contacted, Tiger confirms the development and says, "Yes, Hrithik sir watched the film. I have always been a huge fan of his. I was very nervous and, at the same time, excited about this screening."

Good films require innovation; bad ones are usually recipe-based. And the really terrible ones? Those are recipes gone horribly wrong. What the makers of The Xposé will have you believe is cinema is actually punch lines, and lots (and by lots, we mean nearly a dozen) of songs roughly chopped up and mashed together.

Add a poker-faced, nasal-toned lead actor, and you have what can only be a Himesh Reshammiya creation.

Is there a story? A whodunit, apparently, that’s terribly inspired. An actress falls off a building and dies, and now there are a bunch of murder suspects. A conscious ode to Teesri Manzil? It’s hard to tell for sure.

But story and plot movement here are of as much consequence as in a porn film. They are merely there, so you can get on with more pressing business.

That business here is of Himesh showcasing himself. He’s a cop-turned-south superstar (don’t ask how) Ravi Kumar, who’s now here to make a Bollywood debut. He’s also a caricaturish mash-up of other star personas. He’s Rajinikanth as he throws his hat on to a stand 10 feet away; and as he says, “Don’t ask me how I feel about coming to Bombay. Ask Bombay how it feels that I’m here.”

He’s also the angry young man who shoots and beats people up at will. Mind you, it’s the ’60s, a good five years before either Amitabh Bachchan or Rajini will be on the scene. He’s also Salman Khan as he says, “You don’t have as much blood in your body, as Ravi Kumar can pee at a go.” Totally badass, and utterly nonsensical (unless Mr Kumar has haematuria).

In ’60s Bollywood, apparently, all heroines were required to expose (“na dance, na expression, na pose, sirf expose,” a director says), and all heroes are chauvinistic pigs. Think Pete Campbell from ’60s Mad Men. They sleep around, cheat on their wives and get to chide women for being immoral without getting slapped.

In his acting debut, Honey Singh (as music director Kenny Damania) gets a fair amount of screen time. And though he’s mostly required to sing, vigorously shake his head and be a lech, he is, in contrast to Plastic Reshammiya, a better actor.

Director Ananth Mahadevan plays a director in his own film. As an actor, he’s as niche as they come – the heart attack specialist. Remember Shah Rukh Khan’s dad from Baazigar? He doesn’t die here, but does get to clutch his chest and sputter. As for what Irrfan Khan (as a black ticket seller and the narrator) is doing here, we’re still wondering.

To be fair to Himesh, he deserves credit for delivering lines like “Ravi Kumar langot ka pakka hai…” with a straight face. Then again, we may be mistaking lack of expression for stoicism. As Ravi Kumar tells his director, “Whatever I utter becomes the script,” it’s an unwittingly metaphor, what with Himesh taking story credit.

He’s the star: he sings, dances and raises a toast decadently like Jay Gatsby. He’s also Sherlock Holmes as he solves the case, albeit using not an iota of logic. In his self-created universe, he nose all. Sorry, knows all.

Remember the ‘milk miracle’ of the 1990s? Apparently when a spoonful of milk was held up to the trunk of a Ganesha idol in Delhi, the deity ‘drank’ it. Soon, believers all over the country were offering milk to Ganesha, and the statues were gladly obliging. A scientific explanation was found, of course, but not before Delhi’s milk sellers did roaring business, and NRIs had lined up outside temples abroad as well.

Replace milk-hungry Ganesha with a “farishta” goat, and the absurd premise of Yeh Hai Bakrapur seems only too real. Young Zulfi loves the family goat, Shahrukh (an oblique reference to the Bollywood star), and is desperate to keep it from being sold. Jaafar (Anshuman Jha), the witty hairstylist – city-trained, no less, and in love with Zulfi’s sister – comes to the rescue. Not to spoil the plot, a miracle feature emerges and the goat isn’t sold.

Read: Yeh Hai Bakrapur trailer, where Shahrukh is a bakra

But in a bizarre turn of events, he is turned into a star overnight. He even gets a pair of cheap, blue shades, because, you know, all stars must wear shades. The family cashes in and media reports spread, not unlike in the ‘milk-drinking’ Ganesha incident.

The satire isn’t on blind faith alone, but on the construct of celebrity too. Not unlike a Bollywood star, Shahrukh is soon being invited to store openings, aiding candidates in election campaigns, even being considered to endorse products. That the goat has no agency of its own only makes it the more ridiculous.

Read: The script of Ye Hai Bakrapur blew me away, says Anshuman Jha

Of course, no celebrity is without his share of controversy and neither, it turns out, is Shahrukh. With a premise this absurd, you expect the madness and chaos to reach a crescendo. Unfortunately, this story remains painfully simplistic, almost parable-like.

Also, in highlighting the satire, the character-building gets sacrificed. The characters feel real, but one-dimensional. It doesn’t help that the support cast runs through its lines monotonously.

Still, Bakrapur has more originality than your run-of-the-mill star-studded film. Now if only the goat could make a Bollywood career out of this, the satire would be complete.

By HT

Tiger Shroff makes his debut with Heropanti, a remake of Telugu film Parugu. The film is a regular masala fare but Jackie Shroff's son certainly leaves a mark.

Heropanti is Sabbir Khan's second outing as a director, after his debut with Kambakht Ishq.

The plot
When Renu (Sandeepa Dhar) runs away with her lover, her father Chaudharyji (Prakash Raj) launches a manhunt to track them down and eliminate them. A livid Chaudhary soon discovers that Bablu (Tiger Shroff) is the man who has assisted the couple to elope and who happens to be his daughter's lover's friend.

The twist in the plot comes when Bablu falls in love with Chaudhary's other daughter, Dimpy, played by debutante Kirti Sanon.

The film then revolves around how and whether the lead pair's love story meets its logical end.

Watching Heropanti makes you think of Salman Khan or Akshay Kumar entertainers (Khiladi 786, Dabangg, Wanted and every other film where the hero plays the unrealistically good man disguised as a bad one!), but with a lot of decency.

Here is a young hero trying similar stunts but one who gets emotional just when you think he should smash the face of a dictatorial father.

Here's a hero who takes a villain's challenge for a fight rather gracefully - almost every punch in a fight is followed by a sweet smile to the camera. Tiger does his stunts impressively. Good news is that Tiger Shroff is a great dancer too.

However, when the scene turns emotional and dramatic, Shroff looks a little unconvincing.

His action sequences are admirable but the acting is not. The dialogues are forced and his expressions do nothing in a given situation. Only, he makes you smile with that trying-too-hard-to-act look and flaunting his body.

Sample some of the cheesy dialogues Tiger aka Bablu mouths:

"Jo dost kameene nahi hote woh kameene dost nahi hote."

"Tumhare ghar mein aurton ko gai ki tarah baandh ke rakhte hai kabhi ghuma ke seengh mara?"

Prakash Raj, for once is not the ever-mocking, ever-evil bad guy we usually see his as. For most parts, he is an emotionally charged father not the Chowdhary from Jatland. Sadly, he doesn't look too convincing.

Sunil Grover is the surprise package in the film who brings in a lot of mirth.

The film offers little to Sanon by way of acting. Within her confines, she plays her part perfectly - looking beautiful and playing the dumb daughter/lover.

Director Sabbir Khan picks up a grave issue like Honour Killing and does justice to it with his sensitive treatment of the subject.

He manages to showcase both sides of the coin - the emotions of a father on the verge of killing his daughter for 'honour' as well as that of the lovers.

Heropanti could be a one-time watch if you find kids who don't really know what they are up to and yet act too smart cute. Yes, Tiger gives you that feeling.

Anamika Movie Review

Anamika: Logic 'Missing'

Ever since director Sekhar Kammula announced that he would be remaking Kahaani down the South (in Telugu and Tamil), there has been much curiosity around the project. With Nayantara being roped in to reprise Vidya Balan's role, the expectations have got bigger. Despite many delays in the shooting and none other than Nayan shunning promotions, Sekhar Kammula managed to keep the hype alive. Let's check out our take on it.

Synopsis:

Anamika (Nayantara) arrives to Hyderabad in search of her loving-husband Ajay Sastri, a techie, who has been missing for a week after he came down to Hyderabad from U.S on work. Nayan files a missing complaint in local police station and desperately tries to find his location. The emphasis is on: Who is Ajay Sastri? Does he exist outside Anaamika's head? Is he alive? Did he ditch Anaamika? Or Who abducted him? Why did they do so?

Performances:

Nayantara as Anaamika done a fair job in the film. She easily slipped into the character and carries the film on her shoulders. It's Nayan's show all the way. She sheds her tears, emotes well and keep you hooked to the film. Despite less screen presence, Harshvardhan scores with his brief role as terrorist. The whole film is all about him (Ajay Sastri) who only makes his presence in the climax. Vaibhav (Saradhi) is okay as Good Samaritan cop but it is his characterization in the film that disconnects one. Anaamika in the film often calls Saradhi, cop, by his name without much respect as if she knows him very well. Irony is the cop who works 24/7 for solving one 'missing' case calls her Anaamika garu!!

Technical aspects:

Sekhar Kammula, who is struggling to return to glory, has chosen a remake. Unlike the original film Kahaani, Anaamika is neither taut nor delicious thriller. Blame the writer-director Sekhar Kammula for failing to adapt well. Lazy scripting is conspicuous. Inexplicable points in story, inert and boilerplate direction, sluggish narration mar the film. Sekhar, who is revered and regarded as intellectual filmmaker, too take too many cinematic liberties in narrating a thriller. Yet he throws many social challenges that a common woman is going through in society. All these aspects make Anaamika a Saada Film (any regular film).

Keeravani's background music is intense, gripping. Vijay C. Kumar's cinematography needs special mention. Editing is good. Marthand K. Venkatesh, who failed to act in the first half, realized it by the time film reached to the second part and counterbalances it.

Thumbs Up:

1. Nayantara
2. Story
3. Background score
4. Interval bang
5. Pre-climax
6. Second half

Thumbs Down:

1. Umpteen loop holes
2. Defies logic
3. First half
4. Inexplicable points
5. Climax
6. Inert, boilerplate direction

Analysis:

The film begins with a terror blast in Lumbini Park and swiftly switches into the life of Anaamika (Nayantara) and her 'missing' hubby Ajay Sastri (Harshvardhan). The film runs at snail pace in the first part and bores you at times. Interval bang raises curiosity and stay you connected. It is one's trust on Sekhar Kammula that holds you to watch the second half. Living up to expectations, Sekhar manages to compensate the loss he has done in first half with the second half. Yet there are many inexplicable points (like why didn't terrorists or Home Minister try for the hard disk right from the beginning, Home Minister Naresh's relation with blasts, How could he close the every crucial, sensational case, including C.I's murder, without solving? Why Saradhi has so much soft-corner on Anaamika, How come dreadful terrorists fail to differentiate between right hard disk and a dummy one, How come international and notorious terrorist chief simply gets killed) loop holes in the script that baffle you with many unanswered questions. And this list goes on and on and on. This is what keep you off the track.

Nayantara tries hard to save the film and yes, she is partly successful. Pre-climax portions are good. Despite missing some logic, the film is a one-time watch. The film might connect to people who haven't watched original Kahaani.

Verdict: Seedha Saadha Kahaani (Normal Story)

Manam Movie Review

Much awaited movie of the season, last film of the TFI Legend Akkinneni Nageswara Rao, Manam is out in theaters now. This movie has many specialties about it apart from being ANR's last film. All the Akkineni heroes including soon to be launched Akhil are in this movie directed by Ishq fame Vikram Kumar.

What is it about?

Nageswara Rao alias Bittu (Nagarjuna) parents (Naga Chaitanya, Samantha) dies in a car crash. After becoming successful as businessman, Nageswara Rao bumps into Nagarjuna (Naga Chaitanya) and comes to know that his father is born again. He goes in search of his mother and Priya (Samantha) befriends Nageswara Rao. Now Nageswara Rao is on a mission to unite his parents in their rebirth. Meanwhile Chaitanya (ANR) is shocked to see his dead parents Nageswara Rao and Anjali (Shriya) alive. Then comes the story of Nageswara Rao and Anjali's past life.

Performances:

ANR: Akkineni Nageswara Rao has very less screen time compared to others. He has some lively moments with his son and grandson. Scenes between ANR and Chaitanya are a treat to watch.

Nagarjuna: Nagarjuna is the central character of the film and has lion share of the running time. He has done fabulous job as Nageswara Rao and Sitha Ram. He gave a comic touch to Nageswara Rao character and his performance as Sitha Ram will bring back the memories of vintage romantic Nag.

Chaitanya: Chaitanya surprises with a matured performance. He is at ease in portraying the role of Nagarjuna. This is by far the best performance of his.

Samantha: Samantha steals the show yet again in a bubbly character. Her scenes with Nagarjuna are the best part in this film.

Shriya: Shriya is lucky to bag this film at the fag end of her career. She did a pretty decent job and looked gorgeous in the doctor character.

Others: Brahmanandam, Ali, Posani, MS made cameo appearances in the film. Saptagiri excelled in the role of Chaitanya's friend.

Technicalities:

Direction: Vikram Kumar took a very complex point and executed it so well that the premise appears so simple. There are many scenes where we admire the work of the director. He should be lauded for coming up with something that is so different from run of the mill films. Vikram Kumar is here to stay and surely will rule Telugu film industry in the coming days.

Music: Music by Anup Rubens is simply superb. All the songs are very good. Background score is the major asset of the movie.

Others: PS Vinod's cinematography stands out. Harshavardhan dialogues are simple and sweet. Editing is neatly done. Producers deserves a pat on the back for backing this idea and making such a lavish film solely believing in the capabilities of the director.

Thumbs Up:

ANR-Nagarjuna-Chaitanya combination
Story idea
Screenplay
Music
Akhil's special appearance

Thumbs Down:

Hurried pre climax sequences
Slow pace at times

Analysis: Manam is entirely different film from the movies our Telugu audience gets to see. It is hard to imagine such a plot and visualize it to the perfection. Director Vikram Kumar surely made one of the best movies of this era. Manam has some magical moments throughout the film that will make you cheer the characters and their emotions.

Romance is too cute and the chemistry between all the lead characters is impeccable. Director Vikram Kumar made sure that all the actors get into the skin of the characters and gave some genius touches to them so that viewers will be entertained throughout the movie. This is actually an emotional film, but the director dealt it in lighter vein and never missed the fun.

Once you get connected to the characters and their emotions it is a roller coaster ride. Manam leaves you wanting for more and that is the sign of a true classic. Down the line this film will surely remembered as one of the best films of Modern Telugu cinema. Akkineni fans will have a blast and all others will definitely watch it more than once. Go watch it.

Verdict: Manam - A Rare Gem!

Pyar Mein Padipoyane Movie Review

Aadi, Shanvi who were earlier seen in Lovely have paired again for yet another romantic entertainer Pyar Mein Padipoyane. Ravi Chavali directed this film.

What is it about?

Chandra (Aadi) is a music composer who wants to make his own album. He falls in love with chorus singer Yuktha (Shanvi) in first sight and takes her as the lead singer in his band. After some time Yuktha too falls in love with Chandra. But he couldn't be normal with her as he knows he has done big mistake in his childhood that left a Yuktha in distress. He tries his best to hide the fact that he is the one who had hurt her.

Performances:

Aadi: Aadi played the role of a casual youth that doesn't demand great acting skills. He kept it simple and did a decent job. He is not very impressive in comedy scenes. Needs to work on his expressions in emotional scenes. He has done a good job with dances.

Shanvi: Shanvi looked pretty and that's it. She is a very bad actress and didn't improve a bit even after doing couple of films.

Others: All the hero's friends have lengthy roles, but none of them made an impact. Saptagiri steals thunder in his cameo appearance. Thagubothu Ramesh is okay and Vennela Kishore tried his best to make his character work. The actor who played the character of Shanvi's silent lover was horrible.

Technicalities:
Direction: Ravi Chavali has done some mediocre films post Samanyudu. This may be slightly better than those films, but it will hardly entertain. Poor script and bad direction are the main drawbacks of this film. Ravi Chavali's idea of romance is old fashioned and will not appeal to current generation.

Music: Being a film with a musical drop PMP demands a good soundtrack. Anup's music is a huge disappointment. None of the songs make a lasting impression. Bakcground score is alright.

Others: Editing is not up to the mark. The film drags unnecessarily in some parts. Cinematography is fine. Production values are nice for a low budget film.

Thumbs Up:

Nothing worth mentioning

Thumbs Down:

Screenplay
Heroine's performance
Direction

Analysis:

Pyar Mein Padipoyane is basically a romantic entertainer that is targeted at young audience. It starts on a dull note and gets boring right from the first scene. Romance between the lead pair is uninteresting. All the scenes are stale and seem outdated. Dialogues are pretty bad to make things worse.

There is an attempt to make us laugh, but those scenes hardly tickles due to bad writing. Shanvi bluntly reject Aadi when he says I love you to her and fall in love with the same person without any reason. There comes a twist in the tale which is childish on any level.

Sadly second half of the film is completely based on that twist and the film gets unbearable and yawn inducing at a moment. Anybody with minimum knowledge of Telugu films can predict what happens towards the end and the director didn't try to make it any interesting. Pyar Mein Padipoyane goes from bad to worse making it a painful watch.

Only people who have stuck in eighties can relish this romance that never allows the viewers to connect with the lead characters emotions. Lovely was a far better film than this one and if you want to watch this pair on screen better rent a DVD of Lovely than sitting through this romantic torture.

Verdict: Painful Pyar!

Vikrama Simha Movie Review

Rajanikanth's ambitious daughter Soundarya directed the first motion capture film on Indian screen against all the odds. Did she deliver or not?

What is it about?Rana (Rajanikanth) is a brave soldier who does his best for his kingdom Kalingapuram. He takes his army to beat Kota Pattanam and interestingly turns against his own King (Jackie Shroff) and joins hands with Kota Pattanam king (Nasser). Rana is here to avenge his father Vikrama Simha's (Rajanikanth) death.

Technicalities:

Animation: Animation in this film is far from impressive. If you are a big fan of Hollywood animation films, this is a strict no no for its amateurish animation effects. Motion capture is not done to perfection. Rajanikanth's animated figure looked far from original. Vikrama Simha image was too bad compared to Rana, which was slightly better. It is brave step from the animators point of view to sketch all the characters with popular faces. The war sequences and dance and action episodes were done well.

Direction: Soundarya was handicapped with a weak story and screenplay written by KS Ravi Kumar. Real Rajanikanth could have saved the day for a mediocre script like this. But an animated Rajanikanth is as handicapped as his daughter who messed it up in narration. She has probably put all her efforts on the animation part and ignored story which is vital for any film.

Music: AR Rahman's background score is the best part of this film. There are far too many songs in the movie and Rahman couldn't come up with tunes that have repeat value.

Others: Dialogues are written keeping Rajani's image in mind. Dialogues mouthed by Vikrama Simha character are impressive. Cinematography and Production design are good. Editing is pretty bad. Story jumps from one scene to another without any link.

Thumbs Up:
Rahman's background score
Rajanikanth's Shiva Tandavam sequence
Introductory scenes

Thumbs Down:
Cliched story
Mediocre screenplay
Amateurish animation

Analysis: It would be unfair to compare this film with Avatar or some other big Hollywood film that has used Motion Capture technology. Vikrama Simha is only made with a fraction of budget that the Hollywood studios spend on this genre films. The makers of Vikrama Simha can be lauded for making a brave and never before attempt on Indian Screen. Sadly they won't get any props for any other aspect except for making an attempt.

Vikrama Simha is a classic case of bad storytelling and uninteresting narration. Though we don't expect world class animation effects in the film, we would certainly expect a compelling and an arresting story to make us sit through. Vikrama Simha failed big time in getting the script right. It is an age old revenge formula script set in historical backdrop. Thanks to motion capture… Rajanikanth at this age didn't have to toil hard for the film.

Die hard fans of Rajanikanth may feel content with the film especially if they watch this in Tamil. Rajani's magnetic voice itself will make them happy. But for others Vikrama Simha is a boring film with bad animation. There are some impressively done sequences here and there, but they are far apart and it will be a tedious affair to go through the rest of the movie.

Director Soundarya certainly has the zeal to do something different from the rest. She should have spent enough time on script before putting her directorial skills to test. Vikrama Simha is a brave attempt gone wrong on all levels. Watch it at your own risk.

Verdict:
Vikrama Simha - Animated Superstar fails to Roar!

Spilling beans about his love-story, Birthday boy Manchu Manoj opened about them much to the surprise of his fans. The 30 year old gets candid while talking about his marriage and stuff, and shared some interesting things.

'After a year of one-side love, this girl finally agreed to be my love. And this happened when I was in 8th standard and the love continued till intermediate. Afterwards she left to USA and love gone to nuts', says Manoj, explaining about his first love story in life. Later he was charmed by another girl college, which the rocking star feels that they are just cases of infatuation. 'Even in college I loved a girl, but now I feel that all those are just cases of infatuation but not real love', he adds.

However, the muscular hero stressed that marriage is not on cards in the near future. Talking about his upcoming project, Manoj says he is all excited by 'Current Teega' being directed by Nageshwar Reddy and featuring Rakul Preet Singh. Anyway, Gulte.com wishes Manoj a happy birthday.

It is being virally discussed on Facebook about one post that was kept and deleted by actress Lakshmi Manchu regarding wearing an underwear. Shock is a small word for the kind of post made by Lakshmi, and her friends are still in a shocking mode only despite the actress giving clarity over it.

'I've decided to stop wearing underwear', posted Lakshmi on her personal FB account (fb.com/hrhlakshmi.manchu), giving a big shock to all her friends both in India and abroad. With a feeling that her account might have got hacked, many people started to message her and some started calling her on phone to find out what happened. Thrilled by these happenings, Lakshmi has switched her phone off, before deleting that post and coming up with another post. 'Hahahaha people and their sense of humour. Hahahaaaaaaa stop calling me. I was kidding!!!'.

Of course, all this happened on a personal Facebook account of Lakshmi Manchu not her Official Public Page. Otherwise the ruckus and discussions would have been on a larger scale. Maybe our actress should stop throwing such jokes, provided with the fact that is a respected actress.

India's 15th Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had an interesting conversation when they met after the historic swearing-in ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhawan on Monday.

Narendra Modi: "When he was eating with his Mother he saw visuals on TV of my Mother offering me sweets. The visuals touched both Nawaz Sharif ji & his Mother. He told me that after seeing the visuals his Mother got very emotional".

Nawaz Sharif also told to Modi that he goes to meet his mother once in a week even though he stays in Islamabad. That shows the bonding they share!

Before leaving to New Delhi for his swearing-in ceremony, Narendra Modi seeked the blessings of his mother Hiraben (95) at her home in Gandhinagar. The doting mom did feed his son who was Prime Minister in waiting with sweets and offered him Rs 101. This moment touched the hearts of millions of people across the World!

Hiraben couldn't travel to Delhi for the swearing-in ceremony because of age factor. She, however, watched the event live on TV from her residence in Gandhinagar.

Narendra Modi, who chaired his first ever Cabinet meet today at the South Block, has opened his account wit a big "Boney". In the very first meet, Modi's Cabinet appointed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe black money following the Supreme Court orders. Former Supreme Court judge MB Shah will helm the SIT while it includes Revenue Secretary, CBI and IB directors, Enforcement Directorate official, CBDT Chairman and RBI deputy governor. Former Supreme Court judge Arijit Pasayat will be the vice-chairman of the panel. Modi government forms SIT to probe black money as per Supreme Court orders.

PM Modi had in his election campaign often talked about bringing back the black money stashed away in foreign banks. The Supreme Court had last week granted the government one week to constitute the SIT for monitoring of all black money cases.

Ram Charan is in talks with Vikram Kumar even before Manam was released.

If this news turns out to be true then this project will surely raise expectations among the trade. Vikram Kumar's sensible direction and his command over romance and entertainment will help Ram Charan to break free from his mass hero image and get closer to the family and class audience. However we will have wait for few more days if Vikram Kumar is willing to take up the challenge of directing one of the biggest mass stars yet.

Actress Hamsa Nandini who is known for her item songs in films like Atharintiki Daredi, Mirchi and Legend had a miraculous escape on Monday when the vehicle she was traveling met with an accident.

Reportedly, Hamsa Nandini and her father were on her way to Hyderabad after performing in a private event at Kadapa and her dozy driver lost control of car after it hit a barricade on the highway-stretch at Mehboobnagar. The actress who was listening to music at that time had suffered some minor bruises after her head hit the glass.

Luckily, None of them in the vehicle suffered serious injuries. A stranger (Mr.Bhanu) offered them a lift to the airport and even got them Chai.

Two days after the accident, Hamsa still feels the impact as she comments 'The left side of my face feels like someone slapped me hard'.

I’d imagine this is a pretty normal reaction, but ever since I saw the Back To The Future movies when I was a kid, I’ve been waiting for the day when the hoverboard would finally be available. Aside from a pretty awesome spoof a few months back, there’s been no news on that front. Along the same lines, every time I watch Return Of The Jedi, I yearn for the day when those speeder bikes will be released to the market. And while I have no idea if (or when) a hoverboard will ever grace store shelves, I can report that hoverbikes will be available in just a few short years!

While they look nothing like they did in the classic Star Wars movie, they still accomplish the same thing: getting you where you need to go without touching the ground.

Allow me to introduce you to the Aero-X – a real-life hoverbike created by the company Aerofex. While it won’t officially be available for purchase until 2017, there are a few details about the bike that have already been released to the public. First, it can accommodate two people at a time, it will lift you ten feet in the air, and it will travel at a top speed of forty-five MPH. With a full tank, users can expect to ride/hover for about an hour and fifteen minutes before it’ll need a fill-up.

Even though it can seat two riders, it (as of now) can only support up to 310 pounds, so you might want to make sure you and any riders are in pretty decent shape before you climb aboard. Oh, and before you get excited about buying one of these hoverbikes, you might be curious about the price. Please sit down. It’ll cost you $85,000, on top of a $5,000 deposit you’ll eventually get back.

Do you always pay attention to how you drive? Personally I do actually try to keep my speed in check, but there is always the local law enforcement to ensure we all drive safely and within the speed limit. If you live in Dubai, however, you will need to be a little more cautious whilst you are behind the wheel, as the local police are planning to start using Google Glass to search out bad drivers and find vehicles that have been reported stolen.

The Dubai Police Smart Services Department is testing the wearable tech to see just how practical it could be for traffic enforcement, Gulf News reports. General director of the Smart Services Department, Colonel Khalid Nasser Al Razooqi has showed off two unique applications his team has created for its police officers; “One will allow them to take photos of traffic violations from the Glass, which will go instantly into our system, and the other application helps identify wanted cars.”

To record an image with the device all you need to do is tap the side of the headset. Photos that are taken by officers will be sent to the system immediately, coupled with the time, location and date that the image was taken. If this technology is to be used to check for wanted or stolen vehicles, all an officer has to do is simply look at the license plate while wearing Google Glass. The tech will then cross-check the number plate with the list of vehicles in the traffic department’s database and then the officer will be alerted if the vehicle is listed as stolen.

Colonel Al Razooqi said, “We at Dubai Police always try to adopt what is new in the market and we like to stay up-to-date.” The Glass project, from Google, is definitely at the cutting edge of wearable technology, isn’t it?

As always, if you have something to add on this story, then please do so in the comments section below.

In March, Google announced Project Tango, a device capable of capturing 3D images. It is rumoured that 4,000 devices with be made next month, though Google will not comment on any rumours.

Google’s tablet will have two rear-facing cameras with imaging software incredibly advanced. Google will be having their developer’s conference at the end of June, where the tablet will be on display.

Google has made plans to bring 3D software to handheld devices before and 200 developers were given smartphones to try out this new technology. The technology is quite advanced and uses infrared sensors in order to measure depth perception. Although capturing 3D images is not new, Google hopes to use 3D imaging for its mapping software. For instance, smartphones could be used to map indoor areas and environments in 3D.

Google will give a small number of engineers and developers their new technology in order to test it out before launching it with consumers. They also did this with Google Glass eyewear.

Virtual Reality (VR) is definitely on the rise and the race is on between those who want to create the next best application for building and interacting with VR environments. In March, Facebook made a $2bn (£1.2bn) deal for Oculus VR’s headsets.

But what are the plans for project Tango? A mini-site was created that issued statements over what the plans are:

“Project Tango is an attempt to create a mobile device unlike like any other.”

It is “A mobile device that shares our sense of space and movement, that understands and perceives the world the same way we do.”

In the past, 3D capable devices have been released but they have flopped due to consumer disinterest as well as poor quality or flaws in the system. If Google gets involved, however, the market could drastically change!

We shall have to wait and see.
