LEGO Contest Rules and Guidelines

Preregistration is required. Participants must be registered by Wednesday, September 15, 2010.

Limited to 18 participants.
Entries must be built ahead of time.
The library does not provide blocks.
One entry per person, though an entry may consist of several pieces in a setting or one single piece.
Your LEGO creation cannot be larger than 18”x18”x18”.
You must use you own LEGOs (or any brand of age-appropriate building blocks such as DUPLO or MEGA BLOCKS) -no sharing of pieces.
Please note: the library is not responsible for any lost or damaged items.

Entries must consist of traditional LEGO pieces only - no Technic or motorized
pieces will be accepted.
Entries must be your own creation, not a LEGO kit, project found online, in a
magazine, etc.
All entries must be built by the child whose name appears on the registration.
You must be able to carry your design in and out of the building on your own
(without help of library staff) the same day.
Be creative!

Entries will be judged on the following criteria:

General appearance and design
Use of color
Neatness and care of construction
Degree of difficulty

Prizes will be awarded for each of three age categories: ages 7and under, ages 8-11,
ages 12-17. One prize will also be awarded for the Judges’ Choice. You don’t need to
be present to win.

Greetings all,

Christian Home Educators of Colorado is looking forward to having you join us for a homeschool introductory seminar on Saturday, May 1, 2010, from 9 am to 3 pm. The seminar is located at Restoration Fellowship. Plan to arrive a few minutes early to check in and find a seat. If you have not Pre-registered, you can still join us, the cost is $30/family.

The first half of the day will cover the law and philosophy of home education and the second half will cover the how-to. There will be a variety of resources, books and curriculum choices for you to browse through and purchase during the seminar. Come with your concerns and your questions for the speakers and hosts who are veteran homeschoolers!

Pagosa Area Christian Home Educators is very excited to host this opportunity for everyone in the southwest part of Colorado and northern New Mexico. To facilitate more fellowship and cut costs for everyone, we're asking every family bring a dish to share. A salad, main dish or dessert would be great! Don't worry about signing up, because even if we end up with all desserts, that won't be bad, right? PACE will be providing the dishes, utensils, and beverages. If you would prefer to eat out, there are several restaurants, from fast food to sit down, within a short walk or drive.

Below are directions to Restoration Fellowship, 264 Village Drive, Pagosa Springs

Traveling WEST on HWY 160, drive completely through Pagosa After your 4th stoplight, turn right on Talisman Drive, there is a turn lane for this street and a McDonald's and Citizen's Bank on the corner. Travel one block north and turn left on Village Drive. Restoration Fellowship is the 2nd turn on your right. The conference will be held in the Children's Equipping Center or the smaller building.

Traveling EAST on HWY 160, just as you come into town turn left at the first stoplight which is N. Pagosa Blvd. Travel one block north and turn right on Village Drive. Restoration Fellowship is the 4th turn on the left. The conference will be held in the Children's Equipping Center or the smaller building.

K-1st Grade Craft Fun Day

Saturday, April 17 from 1-2pm in the children's room

Join in the fun with a craft you can take home!

Participation is limited to K-1st grade

Ballet Magnificat!

Since it’s creation in 1986, Ballet Magnificat! has earned a reputation for excellence. Under the direction of founder and artistic director Kathy Thibodeaux, silver medalist at the 1982 USA International Ballet Competition, Ballet Magnificat!’s two professional companies present artistic excellence rivaling any other dance company in the world. Headquartered in Jackson, Mississippi, the companies perform over 200 times annually throughout the world.

Witness the inspirational ballet that has toured 3 continents, Hiding Place – a ballet inspired by the true story of Corrie ten Boom during the Jewish Holocaust of the 1940’s. Hope in the face of suffering. Bravery in the midst of despair. Choreographer/Artistic Director Jiri Sebastian Voborsky’s Hiding Place follows the struggle of two sisters, Corrie and Betsie ten Boom, as they help their life-long Jewish neighbors and friends find security in a small hiding place built in the wall of their home, only to be discovered and transported to the concentration camp of Ravensbruck to face struggles far exceeding their wildest imagination. Premiered in 2006, Hiding Place has been performed across the country and internationally, including performances in Israel before holocaust survivors, in front of the very Polish gates through which the Germans invaded Europe to initiate WWII, and the National Theater in Tegucigalpa, Honduras – receiving an award from the Minister of Culture.
