Chess Champion

When Macky was about three years old, his Papa Rollie taught him how to play chess. Macky find the game very interesting and very entertaining at that time before he was hooked into playing basketball. He would beat almost everybody in the house sometimes including his Papa and his Tito Bren. He would oftentimes, bring his chessboard outside the house and invite somebody to play with him in the street.

His father's effort has somehow didn't go to waste since Macky has became a Champion in the school's Chess competition when he was in Grade 4. Everybody in the house was so happy about his achievement especially his father who is so proud of him.

One reason why Macky wanted to have a phone is for him to listen to music every time he wants to. He loves to listen to any kind of music genre from Bisayan, Filipino, English, Pop, Rock, Christian Songs, etc. What is amazing about him is he can memorize almost all of the lyrics of music he listens to. I am usually the one downloading his favorite songs from the net via his insistent request. Lol!

Few weeks ago, he asked me to look for the song Safe and Sound by the Rebelution band in YouTube. It was a reggae and the name of the group is kind of new to me but when I heard the song, I immediately liked it and keep on playing it every now and then. Macky was so happy hearing his favorite song played on the laptop. We are both addicted to this song. Hehehe

One Cool Day

Macky didn't have much activities during our CDO vacation because he went home with my parents a day after Yoshi's birthday celebration. Aside from playing with Yoshi, Bella and Tep, he spent most of his time playing on the internet and just chillin' in the sofa trying to keep cool from everything around him.

He still enjoys his vacation although it was a bit short. He was so happy because aside from his first airplane ride experience he was given an opportunity to spend longer time with the family especially with Bella and Yoshi.

Eating Out With Friends

Sitting in the middle is Macky's father who is an OFW in Brunei. Eating out with some of his Filipino friends at work is one of my brother's favorite past time in Brunei. He is actually feeling a little homesick most of the time and he thought that bonding with friends is in a way helpful for him to cope up homesickness.

My brother told me that the hardest part of being an OFW is being away from your family, most especially your kids. If only he was given an opportunity here in our country, he would rather stay and be with Macky. He is already one year working in Brunei by April and we are all so excited to see him in his first annual vacation this June.

In our end, we are also happy to see that at least he is trying his very best to cope up and overcome the challenges in Brunei. We just pray that he will continue to be strong and be safe all the time.

First Airplane Ride

Most people have simple yet unforgettable first experiences in life just like Macky. In his 11 years of existence, he considered his first airplane ride during our Cagayan de Oro trip as one of his unforgettable first experiences. He originally do not want to come with us because he don't want to be absent from school but since nobody will be left to take care of his needs so he decided to come provided that we go by plane. Sounds demanding! Lol!

This trip was not just Macky's first airplane experience but of my parents too. People like my parents are very hesitant about traveling by plane because they thought that the fare are way too expensive compared with the buses or ships. Since this is a sponsored trip and the ticket are already booked before they knew about it so the only choice left for them is to take it. Lol!

All in all, their first airplane ride was very memorable and since Davao to Cagayan de Oro is just a 35-minute airplane ride, they felt like they haven't had enough of it. The trip although short was pleasant and the waiting moment at the airport serves as our family bonding time.

Playtime with Yoshi

Macky is the eldest grandson and nephew in the family followed by Yoshi then Bella. If you have been following my blogs, you will know that we were in Cagayan de Oro to attend Yoshi's 2nd birthday last November. It has been a while since Macky and Yoshi saw each other and it made both of them very happy to finally meet again during our vacation.

As you can see, they are almost inseparable. Yoshi wants to be carried and cuddled by Kuya Macky most of the time. And we are also very happy to note that Macky is really trying his best to be a responsible Kuya to both Bella and Yoshi.

Mango Float Is His Favorite Dessert

The celebration of New Year's eve in the family, no matter how simple it is would not be complete without food especially Macky's favorite dessert; the Mango Float. I don't really feel like making mango float for the New Year celebration but due to Macky's insistence so I gave in. He has been asking me to prepare mango float every once in a while with or without occasion.

You might wonder why Macky have this fondness for mango float... It is because aside from the reason that mango float is really delightful; for Macky, it brings back good memories of her mother. He always remembers how his mother loved him by preparing him mango float most of the time and of course it made him very happy.

Where To Stay For The Holiday

Christmas season is the time for non-stop partying, gatherings and family reunions. While most families settled to spend the holidays in their homes, others have decided to take the much needed holiday vacation with their families outside the city.

Part of my family's future plan is to go for a place that we haven't been before so as early as now, we are already looking at vacation rentals paris to search for a place to stay. Just recently, I learned from a friend who are fresh from vacation herself that the better and convenient way to get a place to stay for a vacation is to rent a furnished apartment.

There are a lot of advantages in staying in a furnished apartment than getting a hotel room because most apartments have their own kitchen which allows you to cook anytime you want, they have bigger rooms and most of all they are way cheaper compared to a hotel room. Christmas Memory: At The Christmas Tree

I know Macky misses his parents this Christmas and I am pretty sure that his parents missed him too. Our family has a lot of good memories during Christmas although we always celebrate every Christmas with simplicity. We believe that Christmas is perfect as long as all family members are together and in good health.

We still consider Christmas for the family this year to be a blessed one even if we are not complete. We have a lot of good reasons to celebrate and to be happy thinking what happened to some of our friends and countrymen in Cagayan de Oro.

One good thing that Macky likes about Christmas is the Christmas Tree. Whenever we go somewhere and sees a beautiful Christmas Tree, we would pause for a while and get a shot of it or sometimes even took pictures with it.

We pray that every Filipino especially those who are affected by Typhoon Sendong will still have a Merry Christmas this year. Everything happens for a reason even if sometimes we can't understand it. Night Swimming at Gabby's Pool Party

We were invited to attend Gabby's 4th birthday party celebration some two weeks ago. Although it was declared a holiday, Bren was scheduled to go to work thus I tagged along Macky and Tita Jing. Together with Bella, we attended Gabby's party held in at DCG Family Swimming Pool in Toril.

Among all of us, Macky were the most excited because he's been meaning to go swimming the moment we got there. And right after dinner, Macky could no longer contain his excitement and headed on to the pool. As always, he was enthusiastically showing his swimming prowess. Yay!

We went home late that evening because Macky wanted to stay longer. He was even happier when somebody asked him if he is a swimmer. Haha! He had a blast that night saying that he wanted to have a pool party on his 12th birthday too. Good luck Papa Rollie! Lol!

Bonding By The Beach

Our house is a few minutes tricycle ride from Davao Gulf so every time that we feel like smelling fresh air we just go there mostly during late afternoon. Macky is such a beach bum and it made him very happy every time we went there. He would practice his back diving stunts in the water and would eagerly demonstrate his swimming skill as if there is.LOL! (Peace my dear!) It was a cool beautiful afternoon and the water was so inviting that is why I was also encouraged to swim although I initially plan not to.

Swimming is an activity our family loves doing aside from eating. Davao Gulf is just nearby and you can swim anytime you like for free. I always grab the chance to bond with my family especially with Macky now that I am still here and Macky is still a kid because I want to store good and happy memories with him in his childhood.

Pool Party

Two Saturdays ago Macky asked permission from all of us to join his classmate's pool party celebration at the Solariega Country Club. The subdivision is just near our place so everybody ( Mom, Dad, Bren and Me) allowed Macky to attend the party. Can you just imagine what Macky went through just to attend this party. Lol!

Macky had a blast that day because that was the first time he was allowed to attend the party without chaperone but I went to the Country Club late that afternoon to check on him. See how protective I am? Nope. I am just making sure he is safe and having fun.

Gelled Hair

My nephew is only 11 years old and yet he is already conscious with his hygiene and his looks especially with his hair. A few days ago when he learned that I am going to the grocery store he asked me to buy him cologne and hair gel and he even specified the brand. Axe for his cologne and Gatsby for the gel. And sinceI claimed to be a "doting Aunt", I have no choice but to get those things for him.

Bonding Time with the Doting Aunt

I can still recall how excited and happy I was upon knowing that I will be an Aunt. It was such a brand new feeling for me since Macky is my first nephew. The first time I saw him was when he was about two years old already because they were living in Manila before and I am already working here in Davao.

His parents finally decided to stay in his mother's hometown in General Santos for good. The place is quite far from where I am working so I can only get the chance see him during family occasions. But there were times that when I really miss him and feel like seeing him, the four-hour bus ride is just so light and easy. You know, I am a doting Aunt and I would do anything for our little Macky.

When I visit him I made sure that I have some extra bucks to spend for our bonding time. You know bonding time with kids involves eating at Jolibee or McDonalds, buying new toys and clothes and of course some few extras for them to buy something from the nearby sari-sari store and also "baon" for the next few days. Macky likes buying from the neighbor's sari-sari store even if they have their own store. lol.. Such a spendthrift!

I am thankful that Macky is now living with us. I know no one can replace his mom in his heart but as an Aunt I am really trying my best to bring him up to be a person of worth and value; pleasing in the eyes of God and of man.

Hair Tripping

One afternoon Macky asked his Aunt Jing ( my cousin) to do some styling on his hair. He was the who instructed his Aunt Jing to do the hairstyle that he want. And look at his hair...

I have been trying to research on what this type of hairstyle is called but I haven't found one. This hairstyle is somehow similar to the braided ( but not really) hair of some reggae artist and I think some of the Afro-American guys I saw in movies it's just that Macky has a shorter hair.

My Phone Duo QTV20i Dual Sim

As you can see this new phone belongs to Macky. He traded this to the MP5 he so wanted to get when he will become the Top 3 in class. I am not actually in favor of giving him cellular phone at the age of 11 but he talked to his Papa and have him agreed that this phone will serve as a birthday gift this coming December and at the same time reward for him being on the Top 3 because he is very certain about it.

His father gave in and I can't do anything about it since his Papa talked to me about buying Macky a new cellular phone. This unit is QTV20i Duo from myphone. Macky personally chose this brand because it is Philippine made and with dual sim. It has a bluetooth, radio and television.

Macky was so happy and proud about his new cellular phone and he said that he is more determined to get the highest honor in class. Thanks Papa Rollie for this gift.

Working On My Domains

My main blog and my baby blog is still redirected to godaddy and hopefully it will be okay tomorrow. I was told that customization of the domains will be done for two to three days. I was just so excited about this new domain names. I just hope that I did the right thing.

I was told to buy domains for my blogs especially now that they are still babies because they will lost their Page Ranking if changed later. I went into this domain buying after knowing that godaddy is on sale. I do hope everything will work out just fine.

What about you? Please enlighten me by sharing your experience about changing domains and also on web hosting. I still have a lot to learn about this stuff.

Higher Exam Results

Macky's 2nd Mastery Examination at school has just concluded. I was so happy about his final grades on the first grading period because most of them are higher compared before and he was even included in the honor list as Top 6.

I was a bit doubtful if he will make good in his mastery exams because I didn't see him study nor review his lessons. There were actually times that I scheduled to review him but he just set the time and agreed to it but it didn't materialize because either he was already sleeping or my hands are full with Bella.

Nevertheless, he still got higher results on his exams and even got a perfect score in Science.

Our little man is very motivated to study and really works harder; you might want to ask why? Because he is so eager to have his MP5; the bet we have if he reaches the third rank. lol... Keep up the good work Macky. We are so proud of you!
