Jami Mosque is a 17th century monument situated at Adoni in Kurnool District. This magnificent structure was built by Madu Qadri, a Governor under the Adil Shahi rulers. The mosque is noted for its stupendous architecture. An immense doorway leads one into the mosque.

A few strides through the open courtyard end in the prayer hall with a five-arched exterior. The minarets are formed by the octagonal buttresses and the brackets here hold stone chains. The roof dome stands on a petalled drum, while the interior ceilings are alternately domed and vaulted. The mihrab (prayer niche) is domed while other doorways have temple like particulars.
Residents of Adoni town owe their success in business, politics and other fields to the goddess of the town, Mahayogi Lakshmamma. The "lady of miracles", who lived in the town a hundred years ago and stood by the people during great tragedies became living goddess during her life-time. After her death in 1933, a temple was constructed with the active financial support from the business community.

A silver chariot was built with 500 kg of silver, estimated to cost Rs 35 lakhs. A silver idol of Avva weighting 30 kg and a gold mask with one kg of pure gold were presented to temple by devotees. It is one of the major atraction at Adoni till date.
It was believed to be built by Achyuta Devarayalu, belonging to Vijayanagar Empire and stands even today as the splendorous examples of the architecture of those times. Konda Reddy Buruju is a part of Kurnool Fort and also the only part left out of the magnificent fort.

There was a tunnel across the River Krishna to Alampur. You can see this tunnel even now. This was the prison where Konda Reddy had his last breath and hence the tower was named in his memory. The bastion is in the shape of a huge pillar and has two storeys. The first storey has an underground passage about 25kms long, which leads you to Alampur, a town in Mahbubnagar District.

Some were successful and the fate of others is not known. Recently after an attempt by a well known person of Kurnool to take the treasure, this passage is closed permanently. Reaching the highest point of the monument, you get the panoramic view of the city. The fort is now almost in a ruined state, with some of the portions still standing strong. One such ruined portion of the Kurnool Fort is the Erra Buruju, (Erra meaning Red and Buruju meaning Watch-tower ), built of red sand stone.

source: baatasaari.com
