I know I did. Between church, hitting some balls at the driving range, driving around in a infinti G37 convertible (thanks dad), running 4 miles with my dad and my brother, and of course an Easter egg hunt to top off the evening. That's right, I said an egg hunt...who says that college graduates/students are to old for Easter. To all of you downers that think you are to old for this holiday tradition. I have one thing to say, "live a little younger for once and have some fun".
Anyway, in the midst of everything that was going on today I did have a chance to pick up a book that really captured my attention. The name of the book is "Power Divided Is Power Checked" by Jason Lewis (a nationally syndicated talk show host). So far I have only read through the first chapter, but I can tell you that it is shaping up to be a great read. The book discusses states rights and how the U.S should return to the way the founders originally envisioned our nation. Jason offers solutions to todays 'hottest' issues that are troubling our nation. So with that said I encourage everyone to check out Jason's book. As for me, I am going to continue to read through Jason's book which will eventually be followed by a review from yours truly.
With good reason, considering that we have been watching the prices fluctuate up and down over the past few years. If you are like most people then you probably have some questions. For instance, what is the cause of all of this? And how high will they go this summer?
If you ask me, the cause of all of this is rooted in a number of different areas. The most prominent simply being supply and demand. During the spring and summer months people drive significantly more. This results in an increase in the demand for gas, which ultimately causes oil companies to increase supply in order to meet the need for gasoline. Unfortunately, our world is not perfect and there are many different things that can effect supply. For instance, if a hurricane were to take out a few oil rigs in the gulf we would see a temporary spike in gas prices. Another instance could be if Saudi Arabia were to cut off our oil supply or raise the price of crude oil. One other reason for higher gas prices this year could be a result of a "weak" dollar. Since the dollar is not worth as much as it used to be, oil companies may need to increase prices in order to compensate for the devaluation of the dollar. Of course, the absolute worst case scenario would be if all three of these happened around the same time. And for everyones sake I hope that never happens. None the less, it is a fact that gas prices will increase this summer. It happens every year and it will continue to happen because that is how economics works. The real question is not will gas prices increase? It is by how much? To be honest I don't know how much the price of gas will increase. But I do have a prediction. In my opinion, with the national average for regular unleaded sitting at $3.84 per gallon I do not that we will hit $6/gallon this summer. Here is a list of what I think gas prices will peak at for the following areas this summer.
California -- $5.45
Midwest -- $4.30
East Coast -- $4.35
North East -- $4.40
With all that said don' t worry too much about the price of gas and have a nice day!
The form of government upon which this nation was founded was a decentralized federal republic with power designed to reside within the individual states and a limited federal government with very specific and enumerated powers and authorities. The specific design of this nation was to allow power to reside within the states to do as they (the states) felt was in the best interest of it's citizenry and to restrict the power of the federal government. As a governor in Massachusetts Romney helped craft a health care system that the people in Massachusetts desired and more importantly only impacted the citizens of Massachusetts. Ultimately, his plans were hijacked by the huge numbers of liberals and progressives in the state and the end product hardly resembled what Romney had initially proposed. The point here is that this was the action of a state and not the demands of the federal government which is exactly where these types of things should be experimented with. The states were designed to be laboratories of democracy where ideas could be tried and implemented and where they would not impact the entire nation. Romney has correctly identified that the federal government does not, nor should it, have the authority to implement such a plan on the national level as is specifically stated in the tenth amendment to the Constitution. So yes, the health plan in MA didn't work out as intended but the rest of country is not adversely affected by Massachusetts plan, as it should not be. Massachusetts can now go back and see what works, what doesn't work and has the autonomy and authority to make the necessary changes as they see fit. I would assume that if Romney's plan had been implemented without all of the extra spending and entitlements that the democrats added to the bill that it would have worked much better. None the less, at the end of the day this should be a state issue! As for Romney, here is a guy that has spent his entire professional career fixing broken institutions. He made a living by helping to fix companies that were struggling and making them successful thus creating thousands of jobs, he took an Olympic Games rotten with corruption and financially upside down and made it profitable and perhaps the most successful winter games in history, he took a state that was out of control, hemorrhaging money with deficits as far as the eye could see and balanced the budget and left office with a surplus. Here is a guy that has been prepared like no other person in the political arena to deal with the problems that now face our country and is in a unique position to put us back on the right track of growing the economy, creating jobs and restoring the American Dream for us and many generations to come!If you ask me, I have full faith in Mitt Romney to successfully lead our country out of this mess that we find ourselves in right now.
But that does not stop me from asking the question "What happened to second chances?" I'm speaking of course about Tiger Woods, Michael Vick and Ben Roethlisberger. There are two things that all three of these superstar athletes have in common...They are great at what they do and they have made made mistakes in their personal lives. I am sure that by now everyone knows what they did and what their consequences have been. I'm not here to argue about what they did (I disapprove of what they did), I'm here to say that everyone deserves a second chance With that said, fans have fallen into two 'pools'. The ones that have decided to forgive them for there actions and look at what they are NOW doing to make amends in their lives. And the ones that are still hating on them for their past actions and refuse to give each of them second chance. All I am saying is that Woods, Vick, and Roethlisberger have been becoming better people...and by the way, they are still elite athletes in their respective sports.
So to all of you haters out there, I encourage you to think about this... Nobody is perfect, no one will ever be perfect, so stop hating and enjoy watching them play their sports. Oh, I almost forgot...The answer is 'yes'. It is okay to cheer for them to win again.

The Resurgence of The Latham Report!

Good Evening Everyone!
I realize that there has been a lot going on over the past few weeks and even though I could recap all of them in one post. To be honest, I really do not want to. I figure that just going over old news would not make for an interesting blog discussion. So instead I am just going to move forward and let the past stay in the past.

So with that said, if you are wondering why I haven't been posting in 3 weeks. I will have you know that the reasons are mixed. One may think that I ran out of ideas, or that I just ran out time. And both are true...to an extent. Over the last few weeks I have been thinking about a number of things including the key question of "How do I make my blog appear on the top of YOUR favorites list?" With question needing to be answered I am going to let you know how I am going to make "The Latham Report" the #1 website on your browser. Ambitious? maybe. Smart? I think so.

Below I have listed a few words that describe my plan.

Entertaining: What is the point in reading if your not entertained. At this internet 'hot spot' you will be able to read about the latest jokes and internet sensations. Wait there is more! share with your friends via facebook, twitter, email, and word of mouth.

Enlightening: Prepare to have your mind blown!! In the up and coming weeks I will be creating posts that will make you think! It seems today that no one wants to think any more. Just look what happened in the 2008 presidential election. Terrible right! That is exactly why it is important to put in some thought provoking posts in between the mindless videos (still don't want to think? Try visualizing it as a mental workout. Still do not want to think? I cant help you just don't vote).

Informative: Use The Latham Report to take a break from all of the 'left wing' news papers and mainstream media outlets. I will be sure to give you unbiased news!

Phucking Smart!: You guessed it! The Latham Report is smart AND free of curse words!!

There you have it, that is how I am going to become #1. So add this site to your favorites and have a great rest of the night.

EMINEM Not Afraid Parody: Key of Awesome #26

<iframe width="480" ( I say latest because it has happened two other times before in the 1980's) it was made apparent early on that it would be impossible to have the roof fixed in one week for the Vikings final home game. So what do they do? well....wanting to have their last home game played at home and not at a neutral site they prepared the TCF Bank Stadium on the U of M campus. This turned out to be no easy task with 5ft snowdrifts inside the stadium. In addition to that, the concession stands were never made to operate in temperatures below 30 degrees. In the end, it looks like all of the issues have been addressed and solved to the best of their ability.

If you are one of the many fans attending the game tonight you are going to want to dress warm! It will be in the 20's and snowing all day today and into Tuesday. So with the field set, its time to get ready and watch the first outdoor vikings game in 29 years!
The Vikings move to 2-0 under interim head coach Leslie Frazier, The Steelers come back in the 4th quarter to beat their bitter rivals (Baltimore Ravens), and of course Tiger Woods finished 2nd to Graeme McDowell at the Chevron World Challenge after missing a put to extend the playoffs on the 73rd hole.

First off, I have to give a tip of my hat to Tarvaris Jackson who despite throwing 3 interceptions was able to get the job done while throwing 2 TD passes to Sidney Rice. Jackson really stepped up when it counted and although there is improvement to be made, he played a great game.
Next up! Adrian Peterson!!! This man is truly impressive! Peterson rushed for over 100 yards and 3 TDs on a bad ankle as the vikings torched the Bills. "You've got to be kidding me?!" even on a bad ankle this guy can put up those numbers! "You bet!" two words... ALL DAY.
Last but not least Brett Favre! During the first series of the game Favre took a huge hit and was helped off the field for the remainder of the game. Now the question on everyones mind is "will he play next week?" and "Will his streak of 297 consecutive starts come to an end?" My prediction...probably not. If Favre is healthy enough to play he will. Judging by what the past says...Favre will most likely play.
It is amazing what a difference a coaching change can make as the vikings are beginning to play like the team they were 1 year ago. All I can say is keep it up Vikings!

I have to give one more tip of the hat to Tiger Woods who despite coming in second showed some good signs of improvement. On top of that he was actually happy with how he played after leading for 3 rounds and then placing second. He is making a turn for the better and reemerging as a better golfer and man. Keep it up Tiger and 20+ major wins is not to far away.

Have a great rest of the day!
