Jolly Jolly, Jollibee, Jolly Jolly!

We attended Kelsea's bestfriend Erin's cousin Caleb's (did you get it?) 2nd birthday party last February 12, 2012 at Jollibee Madrigal in Alabang where Kelsea had her 3rd birthday last November. She didn't enjoy her birthday due to her fever and fear of the big smiling bee. That's why during Caleb's party, Mark and I were anticipating on what her reaction will be upon seeing Jollibee again.

To our surprise, when Jollibee came in, Kelsea did not cover her eyes using her arms (which she always do when seeing a Jollibee mascot). And she even didn't hesitate to have her picture taken with her "new" friend.

I love Cukay's Red Velvet Cupcakes!

I love cream cheese that's why I love red velvet cupcakes! My sister-in-law (SIL) is currently perfecting her home-baked red velvet cupcake so I'm excited to taste her next batch. One Sunday when we had lunch in Alabang Town Center, there was a baker's fair in the activity area. SIL bought cupcakes from Cukay's Cakes.

She told us that these red velvet cupcakes are yummy. True to what my SIL said, after my first bite of Cukay's red velvet cupcake, it was the best one I've tasted so far. It was very moist. I have a sweet tooth so my reaction is based on my taste buds. Others might find it too sweet but it's just right for me. I wanted to eat more!!! And because of that I bought some to take home.

These 12-piece 1-oz mini red velvet cupcakes cost P180. I can finish these in one sitting but decided to extend these yummy treats for dessert until the next day. I should have bought more!

Elizabeth Seton School South's Open House

"Know where your child is spending the best years of his life". - ESS

Last January 28, 2012, we attended the Open House of Elizabeth Seton School (ESS) South Campus in Anabu II-D, Imus, Cavite with Faye, Tibs and Maia. This is part of our pre-school hunting for Kelsea and Maia here in Cavite. ESS is only a 15-minute drive from our place in Molino without traffic on a Saturday morning.

The orientation was held at the school's auditorium from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. We arrived early in ESS and I immediately noticed the spacious parking area inside the school campus. It was a plus for me unlike in Statefields where the parking is located outside the school premises.

I have known ESS (the Main Campus) way back grade school and high school days because it is one of the top schools in the South (Las Pinas, Muntinlupa and Paranaque) aside from De La Salle Zobel, Manresa and San Beda College Alabang (where I studied from Kinder to HS). Our impression of Seton, as what we call that school, was it is one of our competitor in Academics.

Wow, perfectionist! During the orientation, they discussed the history of St. Elizabeth Seton and showed us an AVP of the school's mission, vision and other information about the their campus. From what I've seen, they already value academics and extra-curricular activities. After the presentation, we were divided into 2 groups, the pre-school parents and the grade school parents. The number of parents per group should have been okay if only the volume of the microphone was loud enough so everybody can hear. What happened eventually was that parents asked questions personally without the other parents hearing their question and the answer. Good thing Faye and I like asking questions :)

Seton is also known for raising up good swimmers. Parents can enroll their kids for swimming lessons with additional fee.

We also noticed that they have open classrooms, meaning there are no doors and the only divider between classrooms are walls. Here is the reason why....

We were wondering how can the students concentrate listening to their teachers when they would most probably hear other students from the other classrooms. My cousins who are currently studying in ESS-Main told me that it was not a problem. They can still listen attentively and not disturbed by other on-going classes. Below is a picture taken from the side of the auditorium. The opposite building shows the open-classroom set-up of ESS.

One of the things we consider in finding the best school for Kelsea is that it would be a big plus if it's a Catholic school. Both Mark and I came from Catholic schools. His school was (it's non-operational already) run by Augustinian Recolectos sisters while mine by priests (Benedictine monks).

Then, it was time to visit the Pre-School building. I immediately loved that building. It is newly-built and modern in style.

And now off we went to see the classrooms. Each section were named after popular children's stories.

Inside the classrooms were haxagon-shaped open storage areas where the teachers keep the school supplies.

Now, here is their classroom. I forgot if this particular shot I took was the Nursery or Kinder classroom. But anyway, it's as neat as the other classrooms. By the way, only the pre-school classrooms in ESS are airconditioned.

All the kids also love the library/media room. It was like an indoor playroom.

After the tour, we were already allowed to submit the requirements in order to avail the 50% discount for the testing fee. We only paid for P250 instead of P500. It's expensive compared to Statefields School. The requirements for admission were: photocopy of Birth Certificate, photocopy of Baptismal Certificate and 3pcs 1x1 ID pictures. You're still allowed to apply for admission as long as the missing requirements will be submitted soon.

If you would look closely at the application form above, we were applying for the Nursery level since Kelsea is 3.7 months by June. But during the campus tour, one of the staff that gave us the tour told us that children who are 3 years old turning 4 years old this coming school year must already be in Kinder 1. She told us that the reason for this is that ESS will already be adapting the K+12 Program of DepEd. It is designed as K-6-4-2 (Kindergarten, 6 years in Grade School, 4 years in Junior High and the additional 2 years in Senior High) So Nursery will be for 2-year-olds turning 3 and it will be an optional level. To learn more about the K+12 Education Program, click here. So when Kelsea passes her exam in ESS and we decide to enroll her there, we will save a 1-year tuition fee for Nursery. But....the tuition fee in this institution is way more expensive than Statefields School.

The admission process during the Open House was a bit disoriented. They did not instruct us the step-by-step process on how to submit the application form and when to fall in line. I was a bit disappointed but I don't want to ruin my day just thinking about that.

It really surprised me hearing that Whitney Houston already passed away. Nobody knew the reason why. What I just knew from her that caused her career to take a step backward was her addiction to drugs. I love her voice and I love singing her songs. Such a true diva!

I was browsing TicketWorld's website to check tickets for Mamma Mia which I would love to watch. But the only available tickets now are those amounting to P3,000 and up. I'm so sad :( It's too expensive for us. We should have decided a few weeks ago. I'm thinking of making it our Valentine's date but I guess we have to plan on going somewhere else.

While checking the rest of the shows in the site, I was surprised to see this...

A Trip to La Union & Baguio - Part 3

Our road trip to La Union (read about it here and here) wouldn't be complete if we will not proceed to Baguio which is only 45 minutes away. We wanted to travel as early as 5 am but the heavy eyes and butts of the group waited until 7 am to get up. Since it was Chinese New Year, a little celebration was done by having microwave-cooked Tikoy (by Mishka's yaya) for breakfast :)

We were able to depart the gas station around 8:30 am. In my 31 years of existence, I have been to Baguio only thrice. First was with family when I was still a kid (Note: Every kid who went to Baguio must have a picture riding a horse or pony). Second was in year 2000 with my DLSU ECE batchmates. That was so much fun because we stayed there for 3 days and 2 nights. It was educational because we visited places in relation to our course and a memorable bonding experience with batchmates. Mark and I were just friends at that time. Third was last 2004 with my family and relatives...and with Mark who was already my boyfriend. So that January 23, 2012 trip to Baguio was already my fourth and Kelsea's first.

The group decided to have lunch at Camp John Hay. As far as I remembered, Dencio's was the only known resto. But now, there's already Carlos Pizza and Brother's Burger. The outlet shops and PX stores are still there.

We had our lunch at Everything Nice Cake Shop and Cafe. They serve salads, soup, breakfast to dinner meals, pasta dishes, cakes and pastries.

Kelsea and I had a creamy pesto which was tasteful but a different one because they put cucumber. Too bad I wasn't able to take a picture of it. I was very hungry then. Mark ordered their must-try Vigan Longganisa breakfast meal. By the way, they use brown rice in all their rice meals. Healthy!

Next stop was to try Choco-late de Batirol. It was also in the vicinity of Camp John Hay.

A Trip to La Union and Baguio - Part 2

After the fun time on the beach from my previous post and the nakakabusog and nakakaantok-tuloy na lunch, we went out to try the best tasting Halo-Halo in La Union. The heat perfectly calls for a cold sweet and refreshing halo-halo.

We were a little lost for a few minutes, thanks to our ever reliable tour guide Sharon (LOL!). But soon we arrived and saw a colorful house made into one of the famous food hang-outs in La Union.

The place was small but very cozy. There were lots of native decors and "shabby chic" furniture. We took souvenir photos first on their wall signage then looked for a table. Lucky us we were able to get a table good for 6 but allowed us to squeeze in a group of 9.

Of course, what all of us ordered is their famous Halo-Halo de Iloko. We noticed that they served in a tall glass so Mark and I shared. A tall glass of halo-halo costs P90.00 only. You can add extra ube San Grabriel, yema, ice cream, milk or Pastillas de leche.

I like it because it has no beans but it could have been more fun to eat if the ice was well-crushed. I guess the new technology for crushed ice wasn't there yet. I love the yema and Pastillas de leche instead of the usual leche flan. It tastes good but it could have been better if there are more sahog.

We went back to the gas station to freshen up and prepare for the.....Night Market! It was just walking distance from the place we're staying. There were LOTS of street food. What we wanna try is the famous Batac Empanada from Ilocos Norte.

We ordered a Double Special Empanada which costs P45.00. What's inside it? From what I remember, it has papaya, fresh egg, longganisa and some more ingredients that I can't remember.

It is then deep fried and eaten with vinegar (which I thought was sukang Iloko but I'm not sure). Here are other foods to choose from.....

There were also stalls selling Tapsilog, Footlong sandwich, Kwek-Kwek, lomi and a lot more. It was a memorable experience. While the rest of the group tried more food to eat, we went back to the quarters because Kelsea was already very sleepy and I need to work online.

Unfortunately, my prepaid stick gave me intermittent connection :( I was so disappointed since I was about to finish a special project. I just called it a night and wished it would give me a reliable signal the next day.

A Trip to La Union & Baguio - Part 1

We knew beforehand that Jan 21-23, 2012 is a long weekend because of the Chinese New Year. And a long weekend means VACATION! :)

My high school barkada planned on a road trip to San Fernando, La Union. One of my girlfriend's hubby owns a gas station there and invited us so we can visit La Union, the surfing capital in the North. Very exciting! We were warned that it usually takes 8 hours (with stop overs) to travel from Alabang to La Union via NLEX and SCTEX. So we decided to start our road trip Saturday night around 9 pm. Three pick-ups were in a convoy and our route was South Superhighway-EDSA-Mindanao Ave-NLEX-SCTEX-Maharlika Highway. There was no traffic. But there were many fast-driving buses bound for Baguio that made me really nervous. Our companions were used to this travel but we weren't so we had to keep up.

Since it was a very long trip, watching movies on the road kept us awake. We also brought Toy Story and Angelina Ballerina DVDs for Kelsea.We need to be awake so Mark won't get sleepy. Good thing my young uncle and another girlfriend joined us to keep us company. For a long trip like this, it is advisable to be able to sit as comfortably as you can. So a full-packed transpo is a no-no!

We had a few stop-overs and arrived at the gas station around 3 am. Still wide awake, we still chatted for an hour. Kelsea was even wide awake when we arrived. I'm proud of her 'coz she's now fully potty-trained! It was our first out-of-town trip where I only brought 2pcs of diapers just for emergencies. She was recharged from the long sleep during the trip. At around 5 am, all became sleepy and called it a night (even though it morning already LOL!).

With only 3 hrs of sleep, we all prepared to go to the beach. The Urbiztondo beach in San Juan is only a 10-minute drive from San Fernando. Out pit stop was at Kahuna Beach Resort and Spa. The accommodation is pricey but it was the nicest resort along the beach strip. Here are some pics of the resort:

Tip: For budget accommodation, they recommend San Juan Surf Resort which is known as the surf camp. Warning: Rates from their website is not updated.

We had lunch the Kahuna's resto. The group ordered grilled meat and seafood in a bilao and each had a cup of rice (except me - I'm on a no rice diet since New Year's Day- wish me lots of luck!). Our share was around P233/head for the food. Softdrinks cost P50 while Iced Tea and San Mig Light cost P65 each.

I'm not allowed to swim due to "some" reasons so Kelsea and I just stayed on the sand - me sight-seeing while Kelsea having fun playing on the sand. Here are some pics of us in the beach:

There were parts of the beach where it is not allowed to swim because of surfing lessons. Be careful also of having yourself carried away by the waves and bring you farther from the shore.

Surfing lessons are available but I wasn't able to get the rates. Surf boards are also for rent but you can bring your own. It is advisable to wear a rash guard when surfing.

Search for a Pre-School in Cavite

It was Kelsea's first entrance exam for pre-school (Nursery) today. She was scheduled at 9:30 am in Statefields School (SSI) in Molino 3, Bacoor, Cavite. SSI is the nearest school from our place which caters students from Nursery to High School. We heard good feedback about this school so we want to look and see if it's for Kelsea.

We were asked to arrive 30 minutes before the exam time. So we went there early so Kelsea can still warm up. She's excited and I am too. She even brought her favorite Dora backpack from her Bohemian uncle.

Her friend Maia (my fellow n@wie Faye's daughter) is scheduled at 9 am. Since we came early, they went in together with the teachers. One teacher for each kid. We were asked to wait for them at the school lobby. The exam is for 30 minutes. It wasn't really what you call an "exam" with test paper and pen/pencil but more like an assessment. We were also told to bring light snack for them. Oreo and choco drink were Kelsea's snacks.

Thirty minutes past but the two kiddos were still with the teachers. It seems they were enjoying whatever their activities were. At 9:45 am, the teacher already brought Kelsea to us. I'm glad she stayed there and didn't have any tantrums or whatsoever. But the teacher told us that she already brought Kelsea because she was already looking for me and her dad. I think that's because she just wanna pee and shy to ask help from the teacher.

Results will be given in 3 to 4 days. I hope Kelsea passed. But we're still looking for other options.

We invited Faye to visit Westhill International School in Salitran, Dasmarinas, Cavite. It was recommended by two of my co-agents in Avida whose sons are studying there. It's a progressive school with foreign students. The school was small compared to SSI but we also like the set-up. There were only 6 students in the current Nursery class. And mostly one section per level (Nursery to Grade 9). Grades 7 to 9 are equivalent to 1st to 3rd Year High School. We were also told that they're very advanced academically. They're adapting the teaching methods of John Dewey. The tuition fee is 54,500 for Nursery which is more expensive than SSI which is around 38k this year. We're a little bit decided on having Kelsea be assessed and checking on our finances if it will allow us to enroll Kelsea there.

Next to visit is Elizabeth Seton School - South in Anabu II-D, Imus, Cavite. They will be having an open house on January 28.

Today is the start of the search for the best school for Kelsea and our pockets (LOL!).

Kelsea's Letters and Shapes

Our dear Kelsea will already be going to pre-school in June. So I'm already starting to teach her how to write. I'm not sure if I should teach her first the letters of her name which is somewhat long or just start from A to Z. I bought her a write-and-erase book where in she could practice making straight lines, diagonal lines and curves to help her write letters and numbers. But she gets bored easily after practicing with a few lines and letters. That's okay. No pressure. I just give her always a pen and paper so she can write or draw anything she wants. Then one day, she showed me this:

Wow, I was amazed (ganyan talaga ang mommy! haha!). She learned pala from our lessons. But she writes that letter in a very big size. That's okay. We'll just practice in lined sheets of paper.

She now knows how to make lines and unknown shapes. I also show her my simple drawings (not that good) of clouds, sun, mountain, house, birds, stick figures of us with smiley faces and lots more so she can copy them. One day, when I gave her a colored paper and pen, she surprised me again and showed me this artwork of hers:

She made faces of us, her cousin, her friends and her Ninong and Ninang. She told me who the each face belongs to and I wrote them. Then I asked her again who matches with each face. I know she still doesn't know how to read but she told me the exact names of each face. I noticed that my daughter really has a good memory. I remember when she was still 18months, she already knew the names of all our family members, her friends and ninongs and ninangs. She knew who the parents of her friends and who belongs to each family household.

Then whenever I give her a paper, after she writes or draws on it, she starts tearing them (but not all when I warn her at once not to crumple or tear it). This one also caught me by surprise......

She called me and said, "Mommy, look! I made a triangle!" Now I remember. When I was teaching her shapes before, I either drew shapes on paper or cut them out. One time, our scissors was missing so I used my hand to tear the paper and make shapes. Now, that's what she did.

These are just a few of the many reasons why I'm so proud of her (I'm sure most moms are proud too with their dear smart kiddos). I love you Miss sNOw!

Figaro: The Nearest Coffee Shop From Our Place

Before my hubby and I got married and had our sweet and funny daughter, we usually hang-out in coffee shops in the South at night. You name it... our fave Seattle's Best (in ATC before and now in Festival Mall), Starbucks (in ATC, Madrigal and Festival Mall), Bona Coffee (in Westgate) and San Francisco Coffee (near BMW showroom but closed already). Well, except for Figaro, UCC and Bo's Cofee (a newcomer located in Molito Complex).

Those late coffee nights are now very seldom (sometimes never in a month) because of certain responsibilities as parents. And since we moved to Cavite, those coffee shops are already far away from us. We still have to consider the travel time and our kiddo.

At 9 pm last night, we were craving for Cafe Breton's dessert crepes especially La Pinay. Too lazy to travel, we thought of going to the nearest coffee shop from our place which is Figaro. Yes, there's a known coffee shop here, thank God! So off we went on a 7-min ride (of course no traffic at this time) to the coffee place we've long been planning to visit. It was our first time there.

Some of their lights are already dimmed when we arrived. When the staff realized we were customers, they turned on the lights. They were closing at 10 pm. No wonder they're starting to tidy up the place and ready to call it a night. Mark ordered his Cafe Mocha while I got a Butterscotch Vanilla Frost with coffee jelly (I didn't like it much. Starbucks' coffee jelly is better). While Kelsea was busy playing with her Christmas gift from us and Mark trying out the wi-fi, I took some pictures. 1. Lose weight (no rice and soda).
2. Exercise by using my bike that has been parked for several months.
3. More practice in driving since I'll be bringing Kelsea to school in June.
4. Blog everyday (oops, I wasn't able to blog yesterday!).
5. Invest in stocks.
6. Work more and find more work online.
7. Learn more dishes to cook for Kelsea and Mark.
8. Save for an out-of-the-country trip with my family.
9. Market my online shops for more exposure.
10. Give a vacation trip for my parents (this means saving more!)
11. Use my BDJ coupons!
12. Give to charity. I'm hoping on joining World Vision and let an unfortunate kid who's Kelsea's age also go to school by June (para sabay sila).
13. Plan another surprise birthday for hubby.
14. Organize my digital pics and start making scrapbooks again. (The last time I made one was way back 2005 which was my 1st anniversary bf-gf gift to Mark).
15. Sell more Avida properties and get many insurance clients.
16. Read my books!!!! I miss reading.
17. De-clutter and donate what's not being used anymore.

My Top-of-the-list New Year's Resolution

Yesterday was my in-laws' wedding anniversary. We celebrated it by having lunch in one of the restos in Festival Mall. After the sumptuous meal, we decided to take Kelsea and Amelie to the big carousel and Pixie Forest. I have to say that rides in this mall is expensive because my sister-in-law (SIL) had to pay for four (4) carousel tickets at P40/ticket for me, the super likot and kulit Kelsea, Ate J and her "I love chicken" daughter Amelie as compared to Alabang Town Center's carousel where you can just purchase (same price) a ticket in Timezone good for one parent and one child already.

Now here's my wake-up call to SERIOUSLY start on my New Year's resolution....

As we were about to ride, the carousel personnel collected our tickets but a little hesitant. Then she looked at me and said, "Ma'am, are you an expecting mommy? Bawal po kasi sumakay and preggy." Uh-oh! LOL! I'm again mistaken for being preggy because of my tummy. Sorry, I wasn't able to tuck it in haha! Anyway, I was not offended really but just told her "mukha lang" preggy but I'm not. Well, I have long been thinking of what diet I should do and if I can really do it. That incident served really as go signal to and make a new good habits to be back on my pre-mommy weight (that's 110 lbs as compared to my current 130 lbs) and start eating healthy and LOSE WEIGHT! Really!

Wish me luck! Hoping to lose as much weight as I can by May (in-time for my 32nd birthday and my kumare's wedding).

One day, I decided to make breakfast more interesting for Kelsea. I made pancakes and colored them red, green and yellow using food coloring (oops, is that bad?). Anyway, she was amused but only ate the red one :) Here it is...

South N@Wies' Christmas Party 2011

This post is late already due to very busy schedule and the holidays....

What started from my short Christmas party invite last October 26 to fellow South n@wies, whom I have only met twice or thrice because of playdates, became somewhat a big event for us. There were 3 choices of venue: Jollibee, McDonald's or Shakey's. They're all kid-friendly and very affordable. We opted for a November party since December for all of us is quite a busy month with all the parties here and there. Considering the availability of the majority and the availability of venue on our desired time, we got the 10am to 1pm slot for November 26 in Jollibee Magallanes. Reservation was done by Denise.

Then, the planning started. We decided to open the invitation to other n@wies who are not from the South. The function room can only accommodate 70 pax so I announced a deadline for those who wanted to join. But when I was able to talk to the party host, I was informed that we can use the 2nd floor exclusively which can accommodate a total of 150 pax.. That's great 'coz that means we can invite more n@wies. I was in-charge to coordinate with n@wies who wanted to join. There were 36 moms, together with the families, who confirmed. There were a lot of exchange of emails to discuss the party. That includes food, kris kringle for kids and yayas, raffle for the moms, games and the rest of the program.

The food expense was very minimal. That's either P160 or P175 for the adults while P88, P103 or none for the kids. Plus miscellaneous fee of P64.29 per mommy for the party fee (P1,250) and 1hr-extension (P500). I emailed the attendees of the total amount to paid so they can deposit the payment to Sunshine who volunteered to be our Treasurer. The advance payment is to ensure that the confirmed attendees will really attend.

One week before the party, the committee set a meeting to finalize each other's roles and assignments. That was the second time I met Nadia and first time to meet Elaine who are both wedding coordinators. We decided to create a "welcome kit" for each n@wie which includes the name tags of each family member, food stubs, raffle stubs and flyers from raffle sponsors.

The party started late. Good thing we extended for an hour. We had 5 games in our program list but our host "She" added few more games for added fun. All n@wies were very cooperative in the games which made the event very enjoyable. Thanks to She for being such a "bibo" host.

Instead of having an exchange gift for the kids, we decided to buy our own child/children their wishes, wrap the gifts and hide it from them. They were collected during registration and was distributed by Jollibee as a gift from Santa. Then for the yayas, their kris kringle (sponsored by their loving employers), was done using the Christmas with the Right Family concept.

When Do Kids Overcome the Fear of Mascots?

This post is related to my previous post. Kelsea's still afraid of Jollibee the mascot. But she wasn't afraid of Dora the Explorer mascot. What's the difference? Is it because Dora is introduced as a human and Jollibee as a big big bee? I even requested the staff from from Jollibee if they can show Kelsea before the party starts that there's a person inside the mascot. It was suggested by a friend. But the staff told us it's not permitted. There will be no sense of excitement. Another friend suggested to let Kelsea pull Jollibee's butt and make fun of it. But my baby big girl just wouldn't take off her arms covering her eyes. We even told her to look and see her best friend Erin and cousin choco Charles having their pictures taken. But she still kept her eyes shut.

I wonder when she'll overcome this fear. Do you have any tips or suggestions on how we can let her know that mascots are fun to watch? I also don't know if she's afraid of clowns. We haven't shown her yet. But there was a time when we saw Ronald McDonald and she cried so hard because of fear. So I guess no clowns for her too (for now).

It was Kelsea's 3rd birthday party at Jollibee Madrigal Alabang yesterday. She has been telling us (and even her grandparents) a few months before that she'll be having a party in Jollibee. I was having second thoughts about this. First, my mind was set that her next "birthday party" will be on her 7th year. Second, we wanted a kids day-out as a celebration. Lastly, I was not sure if she's still afraid of mascots. But because of her liking Jollibee's videos in YouTube, she kept on hinting of a Jollibee party. So we gave in. I only had 2 weeks to plan.

Since we only wanted a simple 3rd birthday party, we just availed of Jollibee's party package to be hassle-free. We chose the customized food package for the adults (P160 each) and kiddie meals (P124 each). Party fee was very minimal at 1,250 which includes 30 balloons, 20 game prizes, 10 crayons, guestbook and the most important of all.... Jollibee mascot. The other essential suppliers I got were Ken Javier of Pixelight Photography and Design and Diane of Cupcakes by Majesto. Both of them were my sister's tie-up suppliers in her kiddie party services biz, Party Lounge Online. Pictures and supplier ratings will be included in my next blog.

There were a total of 85 guests (adults and kids) on my list but not all arrived. The party was set to start at 10am but as usual, it didn't start on time. Guests started to arrive around 10.30am and they were the ones living far from North of Metro Manila. Why is it always that those who live nearer the place are the ones who are late? Anyway, no big deal for me. What's important for me is for them to show up :) Since we started late, I decided to let the party be extended for 30mins (that's an additional P500). I was not allowed to extend for an hour since there will be a next party.

Unfortunately, the day could have been enjoyable if Kelsea was feeling well. She had a slight fever a day before but very active. Early morning, the fever was gone. But she became less active. When we got to the party venue, she only wants to be carried. She only played a few times with her best friend Erin then went back to either me, Mark or lolo. Well, most of the time with daddy to carry her. The party continued but I was not satisfied with whole event. Mainly because the games were done very quickly and they were not so fun games. Is it maybe because we started late? Since the kids were mostly toddlers, they should have prepared team games for adults. That was what I was looking for. It could have been more fun.

When Jollibee the mascot came in, many became so excited to have their pictures taken. That includes me. I wanted to have a family picture with Jollibee but Kelsea's still afraid :( The whole time Jollibee was there, she just covered her eyes and stayed on Mark's shoulders. I don't know why she was still afraid. I thought she had overcome her fear on mascots because she was not afraid when we had our picture taken with Dora the Explorer mascot a few months ago.

So overall, our daughter didn't enjoy her party because of two things: not feeling well and fear of mascots. I dunno if it was just a coincidence but she also was not feeling well last year when she had her 2nd birthday party at my parent's house.

But I was happy to see relatives and close friends who attended the party. It was somewhat of a quick mini reunion :) And most of all, I'm happy that Kelsea got so many gifts she all loved! Thanks! Watch out for my next blog with the party pictures and supplier ratings.

My Little Baker

I've always wanted to bake a yummy cake or any pastry that would make my family ask for more. The problem is, I don't have a big oven. So one Friday afternoon, Kelsea and I settled for our ever reliable oven toaster which was one of the most used kitchen appliances that we received as a wedding gift 3 years ago. I've always imagined a mom and daughter bonding moment through baking. That's why for starters and with a low budget (even if Kelsea makes a mess out of it), I bought a Crinkle Cookie Mix of Celebrations by Sharon from the Maya Kitchen line of products.

The ingredients are:

1 pack of Crinkle Cookie Mix (Celebrations by Sharon) - the Sharon Cuneta!
2 tablespoons of oil
1 medium egg
Confectioner's Sugar

We also used aluminum foil on the baking pan so that the cookie mixture will not stick on it. Here is Kelsea enjoying another "experiment".

My little helper also helped me put spoonfuls of mixture into the baking pan and sprinkle it with confectioner's sugar. We were supposed to make balls from the mixture but it was so sticky.

Baking the crinkle mix for 3 mins on each side. Do not overbake!

And the final output...Tada!

Looks yummy. Tastes yummy.

Kelsea enjoyed her first crinkle cookie she baked. Next time, it'll be for real. That means making the cookie mix from scratch. I hope I'll have a big oven in the near future :)

An Invite from Cinderella

Yesterday, as I walked on the streets of Ortigas on my way to the Multiply office in Hanston Square, I received a text message from an unknown number. It was someone named Lovely from the Marketing Department of Cinderella. Not the one who left her glass slippers but the fashion specialty store since 1984. They are inviting me to be a consignor in one of their branches. Wow! Is this for real? Are they really asking me? When I asked for more details, the sender replied and gave me their office number. When i called their office, my doubts went away. They saw my products online, maybe in Shopping Spells, and got interested in my gift items and apparel (referring most probable to Glamma Momma).

They wanted to set a meeting with me to discuss about the opportunity of joining them. As I got a few details from Lovely, my mind thought at once of numbers, meaning, the amount of capital I need. As a consignor, they require terms and conditions to meet their needs. This includes a monthly quota, a big inventory and a promodizer which the consignor must provide. Uh-oh. This needs a lot of moolah. A big part of me wanted to say yes at once but how can I say yes if I'm not yet financially capable of meeting their needs. Can I loan in the bank? Ask money from my parents? Borrow from my dearest close friends (haha!)? Then I have to make my online biz legal by registering to DTI and BIR. I don't know what to do next. Is it worth it to look for ways on how to come up with the needed capital just to be inside Cinderella? Or should I just go towards the path on having my own little shop in the near (or far) future?

I just told Lovely that I'll think about it and will get back to her if I'm ready to set a meeting.

I wish I have a fairy godmother to help me on this :)
