Many Rap listeners are perpetually paranoid that their favorite emcees will lose touch with the hungrier side once they abandon the mixtape circuit, and Lil Wayne is often cited as an example. His Gangsta Grillz: The Dedication and The Drought mixtape series captured the hearts of fans around the world, using original productions and well-known beats as a playground for his athletic lyrical wizardry. But some fans feel that his later retail projects focused too much on radio-ready singles, and lacked the urgency and individuality showcased in his free downloads. On Gangsta Grillz: Dedication 4, Lil Wayne shows glimpses of former glory while simultaneously confirming listeners’ worst fears.

At the beginning of Dedication 4, DJ Drama proclaims that latest edition of he and Wayne’s seminal mixtape quartet “is for sport,” and Wayne lives up to the announcement for better and for worse. While Tha Carter IV seemed like YMCMB’s flagship rhymer was bored with formulaic and half-hearted lyrics, D4 sees him having fun with the random association style that built his reputation. Though he doesn’t sound as hungry to prove his spot anymore, bars like “that presidential double R, call it Ronald Reagan” and “give that bitch nigga the blues, till he’s fuckin’ navy” on the tape-opening “So Dedicated” showcase the wit that his fans fell in love with, as do his rhymes over a pair of Meek Mill records, “Burn” and “Amen.”

In previous mixtapes, Dedication and otherwise, Wayne’s his calling card was adding original, creative flows over industry beats and making them his own. Here, his reinterpretations of hits such as “I Don’t Like” and “Mercy” come across as imitation—a weak point for an artist as unique as him. Also, the guest appearances on Dedication 4 seem to lack the conviction of Wayne’s previous tapes. J. Cole spews enjoyable bars about his adolescence on “Green Ranger,” but cameos from Lil Mouse, Jae Millz, and even established names like Nicki Minaj and Young Jeezy come up short.

Dedication 4 won’t have the iconic, game-changing longevity that the series’ first two did, but it’s still a snack-sized offering that offers glimpses of the New Orleans youngster who proclaimed himself as the “Best Rapper Alive” Regardless, seeing “Dedication” in the title will likely inspire listeners to turn up previous classics like “Cannon,” “Georgia…Bush” and “Motivation.”

DX Consensus: "EP-worthy"

David Guetta is the latest artist to get the re-packaged album treatment, as his 2011 LP Nothing But The Beat will be re-released — as Nothing But The Beat 2.0, naturally — on September 10. The set will come with eight new tracks, including the recently surfaced Sia collaboration “She Wolf (Falling To Pieces)”.

Also along for the ride: Ne-Yo and Akon, who pair up for a track called “Play Hard”, and two pairs of twin sisters — Tegan & Sara (who are featured on the track “Every Chance We Get We Run”) and NERVO (“In My Head”). Sia will also feature on “Wild One 2″, which is more than likely an update of her Flo Rida collaboration “Wild Ones”. The full tracklist lies below.

Praise the sun! A Souls game has arrived on PC. It is surely weary. We'll let it rest, and get to the new edition's bonus content and the quality of the port in a moment. On the off chance you've been off collecting beetles for the last three years and missed Dark Souls entirely, here's a recap of why to be excited.

On consoles, this began with 2009's Demon's Souls, a sleeper hit that offered a quest so hard, so hefty, so immaculately crafted that developer From Software might have hewn it from rock. It and sequel Dark Souls summoned staggering review scores, gifting a generation of jaded gamers with a cocktail of fear and self-respect.

You're best off not taking your cues from Dark Souls' charming marketing slogan of “YOU WILL DIE.” While it's best known for being nipple-rippingly difficult, ultimately, it's all about the weight I was talking about earlier. That dark heft. First and foremost, this is the physical weight of your character, and the foreboding atmosphere of From Software's stunning world.

Dark Souls tells the story of your hero trying to save an intriguing world which, by every possible metric, fell long ago. Abominations make their homes in the forgotten nooks of a lost civilisation. A handful of enigmatic survivors are all that's left, but you're as free to talk to them as kill them, and they're as liable to help you as to lie. Best of all, the game literally kills you off somewhere between character creation and the first cut-scene. Above all, Dark Souls seems to thrill at escaping expectations.

“

Dark Souls can happily scare the crap out of you in broad daylight, with something as simple as a giant insect dive-bombing your head as you cross a narrow walkway.

An example is how your character controls. Just to swing a sword sees your avatar putting their back, shoulder and wrist into the blow, leaving you to wince at the weapon's weight. Hit attack again, and you'll roll the weapon around down, up and around, maintaining its momentum to strike once more, quicker this time. But every single attack, every block with your shield, every panicked evasive roll, takes a fat bite out of your endurance meter. Never mind whatever action games you've played before, you have to learn to fight all over again because, simply put, you're only human.

That might not sound so bad when you're gleefully taking apart a zombie with a mace. How are you going to deal with a pack of feral dogs? Or a rat as big as a Land Rover? These are the questions Dark Souls asks you, before leaning back in its high-backed leather chair to light a cigarette. It never rushes you. It never needs to. It simply tells you, to your face, that certain death lies this way. And then it tells you to walk.

Which brings us to the radioactive feather in Dark Souls' cap. Death is something you fear. If you die, you don't just get cast back to the nearest waypoint. You run the risk of losing any unspent XP or precious humanity points. Never mind fleeing from ghosts in brooding catacombs. Dark Souls can happily scare the crap out of you in broad daylight, with something as simple as a giant insect dive-bombing your head as you cross a narrow walkway.

All of which is why Dark Souls has a reputation of being a colossal beast, but also so addictive. If a game's capable of making you grin with each new item you furtively recover, imagine how it feels to stand over a slain boss. On a minute to minute level, though, what makes Dark Souls moreish is its suffocating consistency. That down-to-earth, tactile combat is a reason to play Dark Souls in and of itself, but it also functions to immerse you in the game's similarly plausible world.

“

What defines Dark Souls is the moment you decide you're literally out of your depth, and turn the hell around, with all your precious XP intact, to go explore somewhere else. But for the most part, you won't do that. You Will Die.

You're not completing levels, or even doubling back in the Metroidvania style. You're just exploring, taking step after nervous step through a foul wonderland that oscillates between great cruelty, and moments of sweet relief. Its great achievement is in not feeling like a game world at all, much as Minecraft didn't, and it's a similar joy to explore. This simply feels like a place where you really, really shouldn't be, where every step is heavy with dread.

Let's put it this way - it's not the petrifying Capra Demon boss that defines Dark Souls. It's not the key he drops, that leads you to a room where you fight a disgusting, cannibalistic chef. It's not the labyrinthine sewer that the chef guards, or the village you find beneath the sewer, or the putrid moat the village is built above. It's not the nauseating creatures that live in the moat, nor is it the terrible beast that lays its eggs in them. It's not the staircase you find behind her, leading you down still further. What defines Dark Souls is the moment you decide you're literally out of your depth, and turn the hell around, with all your precious XP intact, to go explore somewhere else. But for the most part, you won't do that. You Will Die.

Saving Dark Souls from the loneliness that haunted the open worlds of say, Metroid, is its online functionality, which was designed with the same blend of accuracy and fearless creativity that defines the rest of the game. Players can scratch messages into the ground, which are pulled at random into your own world. Watch Out For Wizard, you'll find, lying ominously before a closed door. Or more dubious stuff still - Step Off, written over a chasm into blackest darkness.

More traditional multiplayer is limited to blue and black phantoms - other players invading your world, to help or assassinate you, for their own selfish aims. Offering some of those moments of relief are the game's bloodstains. Touch one, and you'll see the final seconds of a real-life player, which is a bit like opening a present. Perhaps you'll get a poignant warning, as they flee from something you didn't spot, or you'll just laugh as they go cartwheeling lackadaisically off a ledge.

“

The mouse and keyboard controls in the Prepare to Die edition are a war crime. Losing the gentle acceleration of analog movement would have been bad enough, but the mouse doesn't control the camera so much as wrestle it around on a rubber leash.

All of this survives, totally intact, in the PC port, with a single caveat - you must own a Xbox 360 pad, or suitable equivalent.

The mouse and keyboard controls in the Prepare to Die edition are a war crime. Losing the gentle acceleration of analog movement would have been bad enough, but the mouse doesn't control the camera so much as wrestle it around on a rubber leash. Meanwhile, the GUI's adaption to the keyboard is just awkward. All told, you could be playing on an emulator. If you don't own a pad but somehow end up with Dark Souls running on your PC, remove the power cable from the back with a barge pole.

But if you do own a pad, and quickly grab this 80Kb fan hotpix, which unlocks the game's resolution from 1024x720, you'll be able to enjoy the definitive edition of Dark Souls until the Artorias of the Abyss DLC arrives for consoles this winter. That content's packed in the PC version for free, and we're pleased to announce that it's... fine. It's just fine.

The best thing we can say is that it's not ungenerous. It's three whole new areas for you to plunge through like a nervous knife, each packed with the epic bosses, new items, new spells and unsettling NPCs that you've come to expect during the rest of the game (Artorias of the Abyss is, sadly, squirreled away towards very end of Dark Souls).

You'll cut off the tail of a chimera to use as a whip. You'll descend deeper than you've ever been before. But throughout, there's the niggling sense that this wasn't the work of the entire From Software team.

This being DLC that's basically a given, but it shouldn't feel that way. The first new area, Royal Woods, repurposes a ton of art assets from Dark Souls' other trembling forest of Darkroot Garden. The next area, Oolacile Township, is a definite high point – a cluster of slumped towers you have to pick your way down – but it fails to surprise in the way that Dark Souls' best areas do. Finally, the Chasm of the Abyss itself is as barren, rather than as bleak, as the name implies. All of that said, of the four new bosses, the duel with the disturbingly fast Knight Artorias is my new favourite of any Souls game. Good luck with that.

Command Prompt 10: DayZ Standalone Version Details

Set to arrive in 2013, Lightning Returns will incorporate “a brand-new story, world, characters and an enhanced gameplay system,” according to Square Enix. The game will feature Lightning as a solo playable character and allow her to freely roam a new world.

Other details regarding Lightning Returns are limited. We do know that the main story takes place hundreds of years after Final Fantasy XIII-2, set in a world called Novus Partus -- which is composed of four islands connected by monorail. The development team told IGN that three of the guiding pillars for the art direction in Lightning Returns are "gothic, mechanical and fantasy."

The most startling change to Lightning Returns comes in the form of the doomsday countdown. According to Square-Enix, the world will end after 13 days, and a massive clock will count down constantly in the corner of the screen to indicate this looming deadline. Any action players take, even taking the monorail from place to place, will spend time and hasten the end of days.

With Lightning as the only playable character, players will have unparalleled control over customizing her looks and combat style. The battle system itself, a greatly modified version of the previous two, will feature real-time elements including direct control of Lightning's movement and her attacks, as well as time-based moves that drain the doomsday counter. Lightning Returns will also include a real-time block system, designed to make battles much more active and time-based. Because a blue moon occurs only every two or three years, the term blue moon is used colloquially to mean a rare event, as in the phrase "once in a blue moon".[2]
One lunation (an average lunar cycle) is 29.53 days. There are 365.26 days in a solar year. Therefore, about 12.37 lunations (365.26 days divided by 29.53 days) occur in a solar year. In the widely used Gregorian calender, there are 12 months (the word month is derived from moon) in a year. Each calendar year contains roughly 11 days more than the number of days in 12 lunar cycles. The extra days accumulate, so every two or three years (7 times in the 19-year Metonic cycle), there is an extra full moon. The extra moon necessarily falls in one of the four seasons, giving that season four full moons instead of the usual three, and, hence, a blue moon.
The term blue moon originates in folklore. Different traditions place the extra "blue" full moon at different times.
The Maine Farmers' Almanac defined a blue moon as an extra full moon in a season. One season was normally three full moons. If a season had four full moons, then the third full moon was called a blue moon.
In calculating the dates for Lent and Easter, the Christian clergy identified a Lenten moon. Historically, when the moon's arrived too early, they called the early moon a betrayer (belewe) moon, so the Lenten moon came at its expected time.
Folklore named each full moon according to its time of year. A moon that came too early was called a blue moon, so the rest of the moons that year restrained their customary seasonal names.
The second full moon in one calendar month is sometimes called a blue moon. This usage results from a misinterpretation, in the March 1946 issue of Sky and Telescope, of the traditional definition of blue moon.[1] Under this definition, a blue moon occurs once a year, on average.
However, Obama seemed less eager to review Eastwood's latest performance, on stage at the Republican National Convention Thursday. The 82-year-old Hollywood icon introduced Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney with a rambling 12-minute improvisation that included a rude "interview" with an empty chair purportedly occupied by an invisible Obama.
Was he offended?
"One thing about being president or running for president — if you're easily offended, you should probably choose another profession." Obama said with a smile. He said there would be no effort to counter with a similar stunt at the Democratic National Convention, which opens in Charlotte Tuesday.
"I think we'll be playing this pretty straight," he said.

CLINT Eastwood's bizarre chat to an empty chair at the Republican National Convention has sparked a new internet craze, dubbed "Eastwooding".

The Dirty Harry actor made a surprise appearance at the climax of the convention on Thursday to endorse presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

But he made the internet's day with a speech in which he hectored an empty chair representing an invisible president Barack Obama.

The speech, which ran more than twice as long as intended and had some Republicans looking at each other in bewilderment, became an online craze.

Web wags quickly Photoshopped the stock standard memes onto the chair - "sad Keanu", the Princess Leia hologram and scowling Olympian gymnast McKayla Maroney.
Others looked further afield, faking up a Simpsons newspaper front page reading "Old man yells at chair", with a picture of Grandpa Simpson (the original read "Old man yells at cloud"). Comedy site HUMORdy made a video of the chair's imagined response ("my record of providing excellent lumbar support is beyond reproach").

It wasn't long before an @InvisibleObama popped up on Twitter.

And then a new fad sprung up. Salt Lake Tribune reporter Robert Gehrke posted on Twitter a picture of his coworker pointing at an empty chair at the convention, calling it "Eastwooding".

Hours later, there were more than 25,000 "Eastwooders" on Twitter - and the trend spread to Tumblr, Instagram and beyond, as thousands rushed to share pictures of themselves pointing at chairs.

Celebrities joined in the "Eastwooding" fun, including actor Zach Braff, actress Mia Farrow and comedian Hal Sparks.

And the internet being the internet, soon it was the turn of cats and dogs to have their chance to quizzically confront the furniture.

Even the president himself joined in the fun.

Mr Obama (or one of his advisers) is known to have a keen eye for internet memes: when the president popped up on Reddit.com during the week he quoted the "not bad" meme.

In this case, he settled for tweeting a photo of himself at the office in a chair marked "The president", with the comment "the seat's taken".

Naturally, it was the cue for more hilarity. It wasn't long before someone had gotten around to replacing Mr Obama's hair with a clown wig.

As for Gehrke, he says he has "never been prouder in my life" of the meme he helped spawn. But he insists "I'm not a hero. Just a smartass with a Twitter account".

College football: Duke scores 2 TDs for Miami in win over BC

BOSTON — On the first touchdown run of his college career, Duke Johnson broke a handful of tackles on a 54-yard romp to the end zone.

The second one went even longer and the Miami freshman was untouched all the way, helping the Hurricanes to a 41-23 win over Boston College on Saturday.

"Duke's play obviously boosted the momentum," receiver Phillip Dorsett said after watching Johnson run for 135 yards and two long touchdowns to help the Hurricanes come back to beat BC. "Without him, we don't know what's going to happen."

Johnson scored from 54 and 56 yards out after the Eagles opened a 14-0 lead, and Stephen Morris threw for 207 yards and a touchdown in the season opener for both teams. The Atlantic Coast Conference schools also played each other in the 2011 finale, when BC beat the Hurricanes in Miami for the first time since Doug Flutie's famous desperation heave in 1984.

Chase Rettig completed 32 of 51 passes for two touchdowns and a career-high 441 yards — the most since for a BC quarterback since Flutie. He led the Eagles to scores on their first two drives, but Miami tied it on Denzel Perryman's 41-yard interception return to end the first quarter.

Johnson's second score made it 31-23. The Eagles fumbled the ball away on consecutive drives to start the fourth quarter to set up a field goal and touchdown that gave Miami a 41-23 lead.

"We played sloppy, made some mistakes that hurt us on offense," BC coach Frank Spaziani said. "But, defensively, we've got to play better. Nobody made plays."

Johnson carried the ball just seven times in his debut. He also caught three passes for 10 yards and returned three kickoffs for 69 more — a total of 214 all-purpose yards.

"I had freshman jitters," said Johnson, who compared his running style to former Hurricanes back Clinton Portis. "I was excited, nervous. I was just ready to play football. When older guys tell you, 'This is what you worked for. You've played,' that's what relaxed me."

BC cut the deficit to 41-30 on Rettig's 17-yard touchdown pass to Tahj Kimble, then got inside the 1 yard-line on a third-down pass to Spiffy Evans with less than 3 minutes left. With the clock running, Rettig lined up and tried to sneak it in but was stopped for no gain; the play was reviewed and upheld.

Miami took an intentional safety with 4 seconds left rather than punt from deep in its own end zone.

"I couldn't be prouder of a group, down 14-0 in the ACC in a terrible environment, rattled a little bit, dropping balls and things like that," Hurricanes coach Al Golden said. "Just to hang in there — whew. That was a good job just to hang in there."

The 32 points was the most for BC against a Football Bowl Subdivision team since it beat Weber State in 2010, and the 542 total yards were its most since playing North Carolina State in '08. Alex Amidon had 10 catches for 149 yards, and Kimble had eight for 130 and a touchdown to go with 10 rushes for 50 yards.

"We left some plays out on the field. But we came out of it with some positives. The offense can really move the ball," Amidon said. "There were definitely a lot more points that could have been scored. But 32 points from this offense — I can't remember the last time we scored 32."

The Hurricanes improved to 24-5 all-time against BC, which had won two straight in the series, including the 24-17 victory last season that left Golden with the end to a tumultuous first season and a 6-6 record. The school did not go to a bowl because of a self-imposed ban in response to an improper benefits scandal.

Boston College went 4-8 last season, missing a bowl for the first time since 1998, and Spaziani's job is likely on the line unless the Eagles improve.

It looked good — at the start.

Rettig led BC on two quick touchdown drives to open the game, scoring on Andre Williams' 4-yard run on the first drive of the game and then a 15-yard pass to Jake Sinkovec. But Miami tied it before the quarter was over, scoring on Eduardo Clements' 1-yard run and then, on the final play of the first, Denzel Perryman's 41-yard interception return.

After Nate Freese kicked a 26-yard field goal to give BC the lead again, Johnson broke loose from 54 yards out and scored to make it 21-17. BC took the lead with two more field goals, but Miami's Jake Wieclaw answered with one and then Johnson broke another long one.

Askew

"I think its awesome," ... "It's great to see the employees interact in a fun, competitive way."
So, what is this Warsaw? Warsaw is a city like any other. It has flats and houses, shops and restaurants, pubs and clubs. People walk in the streets, do their things, talking and drinking coffee.

Our inhabitant wakes up in the morning, cuts the bread for breakfast, opens the windows, makes the bed and leaves the house.

Who does he or she meet on the street? Other inhabitants of Warsaw, of course, but who are they? Is our Varsovian someone born here or is he or she here for work? Or neither? Or maybe simple we are all “Warszawiacy” (Varsovians). There is no division between Warsaw and the rest of Poland. Poland is Warsaw and Warsaw is Poland. There is nothing we can be jealous of because everything is ours.

The centre is around the Palace of Culture. It’s ugly – some may say. So what? It is standing, so lets keep it standing. This is a landmark. You can like it just because it is so Varsovian. Don’t sleep, don’t yawn, just visit!
But the most inspiring is what is happening around the Palace. It’s a meeting place for the most prominent “freelancers” (in all their forms). They wake up whenever they want, stand up and take a few steps then lie down again. Dressed or naked, it doesn’t matter. They are “free.” Sometimes they sit with friends on the bench and wait for someone to throw them a coin or two. When they collect a few of them they run to the shop for a beer. After that back to their daily resting place of choice and back to freedom. Enjoy the delightful summer rays of sun. Oh it feels so good! “Freelancers” from around of the Palace are probably the least stressed social group in the country. The vapour of their creativity floats over all sides of the city.

The bars that aspire to be artistic places might seem a bit ugly. In ugly and dirty areas. Many of them are rather pathetic imitations of other great places. Meaningless connections. Strange, but because of this lovely. It shows us that each matters, every forgotten corner can be used. That’s creativity!

Not everyone has great sympathy for this city, not everyone shares the need to move here and not everyone can realise themselves here. But if you like to be here it doesn’t mean you are a snob. Warsaw is not worse than other cities or better, it’s just the same as any other. There is everything in it, history and modernity, Northern Poland and Southern Poland, elegance and kitsch, ugliness and beauty. Artistic chaos. Sense of humor, nonsense. Rebellion.

Thousands of little worlds in one big city. But it’s ok because we are all together. We can find ourselves in this chaos. We are at home. And like in every home each of us has our own mess. The most important is to know how to find yourself in it.

Winding up, I eagerly repeat Monika Brodka’s song “Varsovie:”

“I fell in love with the city

At first sight it looked pretty

We used to share the same love for grey”

Alabama Football: Tide didn’t Win, They Made a Statement

With the arrival of college football’s first Saturday many teams played cupcake competition but the Alabama Football team was busy making a statement.

I looked at the scores from Saturday and sure enough there were some impressive numbers that stuck out. Florida State won 69-3, Oklahoma State pitched an 84-0 shutout and even Kansas State put up huge numbers with a 51-9 win. But who did they play? In the exact order of teams listed: Murray State, Savannah State, and Missouri State. In short teams that aren’t on the same level as FCS powerhouses.

Its like the Yankees playing the little league team down the street; of course you would expect them to put up scores usually reserved for video games.

When some were playing in glorified scrimmages, the Alabama Crimson Tide played in a game against a Top 10 opponent in the Michigan Wolverines. Some will pull the “Yeah, but..” card which is fine. But I am willing to guess those who are now preaching that the Wolverines are overrated are the same ones who proclaimed the Tide would be upset.

The final score read 41-14, but those who watched the game in its entirety know the game wasn’t as close as the score would indicate. The Crimson Tide struggled-for their first series. Then, after Alabama shook off the jitters, they reminded the country why they have been one of the nation’s most dominant programs in the past 5 seasons, rattling off 3 touchdown drives to close out the first quarter. Michigan was able to get into the endzone a couple of times, but it was long after the game was decided.

Leading into this game there was a lot of talk about the Alabama offense being “explosive” and sure enough the Tide provided plenty of fireworks.

TJ Yeldon followed up his MVP performance in the spring’s A-Day scrimmage by showing he could put up jaw dropping numbers not only against the Alabama defense, but any defense in the country. Yeldon joins a long line of talented Alabama running backs, but only he was able to rush for over 100 yards in his debut as a true freshman.

Then it came down to the passing game and while AJ McCarron’s numbers certainly won’t win him a Heisman, they will win plenty of games. Lost in the 11-21 passing performance is the amount of times McCarron sparred the Tide of turnovers, throwing the ball away instead of forcing the ball into traffic. Then when opportunities presented themselves he took advantage, including the highlight 51 yard touchdown pass to DeAndrew White.

While Yeldon and McCarron will certainly steal the headlines, that is not what makes this team great. It’s the way that Jalston Fowler, who paved the way for his fellow running backs as a devastating blocker. It is the way the wide receiving corps is filled with a handful of guys who could be impact players on any team in the country, yet sacrifice catches to keep defenses guessing. It was the way Dee Milliner patiently waited his turn to start in the Alabama secondary, only to show he may become one of the best in the program when he was given a chance.

Alabama answered plenty of questions on Saturday night but have plenty of room for improvement. While Milliner was tremendous throughout, the secondary as a whole gave up some big plays, and at times McCarron narrowly missed connecting with his receivers on big plays down field.

It was the perfect win for Nick Saban. It established Alabama’s position at the top of the college football world, but still gave the Alabama coach plenty of film he can use to coach up his team. As good as the Tide were on Saturday they’ll need to continue to improve because after the statement that was made, the target on their backs got that much bigger.

Eddie Murphy dead rumors continue EDDIE MURPHY DEADSEPTEMBER 1, 2012

Eddie Murphy is not dead despite several attempts by different media outlets to kill him off. This is not the first time that rumors of the actor's untimely death hit the internet, but this

time, the rumors won't die. On August 31, Alt Film Guide confirmed that Murphy isn't dead but that he is, in fact, planning a new television show based on "Beverly Hills Cop."

Despite quite a few media outlets claiming that Murphy died in a snowboarding accident, it is not true. The news shot all around the world and quickly became a trending topic on Twitter, several people wondering if the actor had actually died.

If Eddie Murphy was dead, sources like People Magazine and even news outlets like CNN would be reporting the sad news. Fortunately, no one reported on the bogus story... because, well, it was bogus. People tend to just run with news like this, perhaps letting adrenaline take over and not doing a good job at stopping the fire once it is started.

Murphy has been in the news a lot this week and not just because he isn't dead. The actor is really working on something great for TV that people are excited about. This news coincided with his false death, but it's still publicity, right?

Eddie Murphy isn't dead and neither is his "Beverly Hills Cop" idea either.

College Football Scores 2012: Biggest Surprises from First Week of Games

The first week of games in college football is normally rather uneventful as some of the bigger schools in the country take on unlucky smaller schools in what amounts to an almost definite rout.

But in 2012, the first week of the season has given fans a few surprises along the way, turning the predictable scores of big school versus small school to scores that are somewhat unpredictable.

Here are the biggest surprises from this week's games thus far.

Wisconsin 26, Northern Iowa 21

With a 13-0 lead heading into the third quarter, it looked as though Wisconsin was going to dominate Northern Iowa as was expected, but apparently the Panthers didn't get the memo.

Northern Iowa would go on to score three touchdowns in the second half, making this game a little too close for comfort for the Badgers. With the score 26-21, Northern Iowa had one last chance to take the lead, but failed to score on their final drive of the game.

This would have easily been one of the biggest upsets of the entire season, but Wisconsin narrowly avoided such a distinction. In the end, there's nothing negative about this result for the Panthers. The team couldn't have played any better than it did in this one.

If the Badgers want to make some noise this season, clearly they must step their game up after nearly losing to an inferior opponent.

Florida 27, Bowling Green 14
The final score of this game is a bit misleading, but the result is a positive for Bowling Green.

Going into the fourth quarter, Florida led Bowling Green by just a field goal, 17-14. It wasn't until early in the fourth when the Gators began to pull away from the Falcons.

Only a minute into the final quarter, the Gators tacked on another touchdown to increase their lead to 10. After that, Florida kicker Caleb Sturgis booted an incredible 52-yard field goal to put the Gators up by 13.

Bowling Green was unable to answer Florida's fourth-quarter scoring, but they certainly made the first three quarters very interesting.

South Carolina 17, Vanderbilt 13

With a 13-10 deficit going into the fourth quarter, South Carolina was staring straight down the barrel of an upset at the hands of Vanderbilt.

After adding a field goal in the third quarter, Vandy grabbed their first lead of the game over South Carolina but were unable to sustain their momentum after that.

The Gamecocks would go on to score a touchdown in the fourth quarter to lead 17-13. The Commodores would fail to respond with a score of their own and Vandy fell just short of a huge upset.

South Carolina can be happy with the win, but they can't be happy with the fact that Vanderbilt made them look like a second-rate football program thanks to a close call on the first game of the season.

Stanford 20, San Jose State 17
In their first game without Andrew Luck, Stanford was hoping to come out strong and erase the fact that they lost an all-time great college quarterback.

But that didn't happen. Instead, San Jose State gave Stanford a run for its money.

Going into the fourth quarter, the Spartans were locked in a 17-17 tie with the Cardinal and were poised to upset a top-ranked team. But in the end, it wasn't meant to be.

Stanford would go on to add three points to their total with a field goal early in the fourth, but were unable to do anything else to pad their lead. The Spartans would get numerous chances to at least tie the score, but were unsuccessful.

This was about as bad of a start for the Cardinal in the post-Luck era as they could get. On the flip side, San Jose State should be darn proud with the fight they put up against one of the better teams in the nation.

Ohio 24, Penn State 14

As if things couldn't get any worse for Penn State, they just did.
In what amounted to one of the biggest, if not the biggest shockers of the entire opening week of college football, Penn State dropped their season opener to Ohio.

The Bobcats were down 14-3 after the first half and it appeared the Nittany Lions would cruise to victory. But somebody forgot to tell Penn State that there was a second half to play.

Ohio would go on to score 21 unanswered points through the final two quarters, topping Penn St. and shocking the world in the process.

There's no doubt about it: It's going to be a long season for the Nittany Lions
