Break And Happy Halloween!

I know I have been missing for awhile. And it's not that I don't like blogging anymore, I have been busy with a couple of things. One...we signed up to foster care for Second Chance Dachshund Rescue and we actually got a dog named Mud right away who was a sweet, sweet boy, with the exception that he ate his own poop and wanted to kill my dogs... everything was great! Unfortunately we had to kill that dream and give him back to the rescue but of course he will go to another foster home probably with bigger dogs that can handle his behavior. And even though it was traumatic I really want to foster again since I love dachshunds so so much! The number Two Thing... was that I have been really wanting to remodel my salon and give it a complete over haul changing where my styling station was in the room, painting, wallpapering, furniture refinishing, and even adding some architectural details. Well I'll tell you, I didn't know what I was getting myself into... but now I have officially become completely educated in wallpaper and all of it's intricate details and ways. It chose to fight with me, but I fought back! Now as my project has finally come to an end I look back as I always do thinking holy fuck! I always think it's only gonna take me a few hours and then it turns into a HUGE production and I am the conductor wanting to stop the orchestra, but I can't... because the audience is coming " my clients", I have to finish. There is something about this part that always makes me feel sick and excites me at the same time.If only I could be a stylist and an interior designer and have my cake and eat it too! I would post photos of the finished salon before and after but I have some minor touching up to do. So please be patient as I will return once I am done and reveal the before and afters once I give my crazy brain a little break

So I am currently in the process of re decorating my salon. I just recieved my wallpaper for my feature wall and am getting up the courage to hang it by watching as many youtube tutorials as I can. I have also been on the hunt for a credenza or sideboard to replace the crappy IKEA table I have that is not very sturdy. I thought it might be a good idea to find something cheap and paint it a bright cheery color, but I wasn't excited about all of the refinishing I would have to do. I am so happy I found this informative tutorial on Little Green Note Book's Blog she always has amazing DIY projects that inspire me. The young NY-based design firm BHDM, designed the Lords Of South Beach Hotel, a gay boutique hotel located in Miami Beach.

Here is the project description:

Lords South Beach is the first gay boutique hotel brand in the US, and the hotel just opened this year in Miami Beach. The concept has been very well received, and Brian Gorman – owner of the hotel and founder of the Lords brand – has plans to open in other US cities. Located at 11th Street and Collins in the heart of South Beach in the former Nash Hotel space, the design is spirited and playful, with unexpected touches, and uniforms custom designed by Levis. There are 54 rooms and a variety of hotel venues, including the Cha Cha Rooster Restaurant, the Cabana pool bar, and a lobby bar with cocktail partner Absolut.

The space was designed by BHDM - a young NY-based design firm whose recent projects include The Lion restaurant in New York and the soon-to-open Cotta restaurant. Partners Dan Mazzarini and Brian Humphrey have worked on a diverse array of residential and commercial projects, including creating custom-designed furniture pieces as they did for Lords. Dan’s past experience includes his role as a Design Director at Ralph Lauren where he designed over 100 stores in 16 countries. Brian worked as Director at Calvin Klein as well as Ralph Lauren Home as a product designer.

I fell in love with Lil' Wayne awhile back when I watched his True Story on VH1 after finding out about his life growing up it gave me a new appreciation for him. And that he usually does most of his songs in one take which would be very difficult to do without raw talent. This song right here is amazing and so is the video.....

I came across Society Social's Blog And Catalog and thought everything about it was wonderful! I want all of the items that Roxy and her team have designed, from beautiful sofas and club chairs to stylish bar carts, and amazing chairs in every color of the rainbow. Visual Artist Ignacio Torres caught my eye via Nylon Blog and really drew me in. Here he explains what he was going for with these incredibly interesting gif. images...see more of his amazing work on his website Ignacio Torres.
This project began from the theory that humans are made of cosmic matter as a result of a stars death. I created imagery that showcased this cosmic birth through the use of dust and reflective confetti to create galaxies. The models organic bodily expressions as they are frozen in time between the particles suggest their celestial creation. In addition, space and time is heightened by the use of three-dimensional animated gifs. Their movement serves as a visual metaphor to the spatial link we share with stars as well as their separateness through time.

I love looking into peoples home via The Selby which is always a great place to get inspiration for your own home. But most of all I like to browse through the people and imagine if we would actually be friends in real life based on the interiors of their homes. The designer Abigail Ahern's London home attracted me to her, mostly because of the mid century aesthetic, not only that but the fact that she seems down to earth (loves dogs) and likes eccentric things (just like ME!) and it looks like she doesn't take herself too seriously ( like ME too!) and that she can have a laugh at herself sometimes(definitely ME!) I think if we lived closer we would hang out ALL the time....don't you think?
