Is India losing its way?

Executive summary

Is India losing its way? All the results will get, depending upon the things we did. India had a higher spiritual proportion till it unchecked the economic reforms. The new 'free for all' policy without supplementary measures to strengthen the moral fibre has done some damage to its core. Mr.Adam Robert, who moderates this debate which is conducting by the Economist, finds very difficult to sum up all the points and to lead a conclusion in each stage. The pessimist, Mr.Arvind Subramanian says that political damages decline the growth of the state and he adding that the private sector can substitute few services only. On the other hand, Mr.Shashi Tharoor disagree him, and quoting the reasons for the imbalanced growth of the state. He supports privatisation which we can ensure the productivity of the industries.

Overview

The growth rate of India after the Independence is very less. Many steps put forward by the government didn’t show the result as such it is planned. Many five year plans delayed and over lapped to the other. Globalisation reflected to improve the standard of industries in many sectors. Is India losing its way? The debate question which we discussed in The Economist magazine with Mr.Shashi Tharoor and Mr.Arvind.

Mr.Arvind is pessimistic about India’s prospects. He worries that a weakening state and failing politics challenge the economy. He has argued that our infrastructure is diluted by populist policies and corruption – dramatically demonstrated by this summer’s power outages. The weak state and failing politics leave economic problems unaddressed. India faces rising inflation, but no demand for inflation controls.

Mr.Tharoor disagrees by quoting that the individuals who take disappointing GDP growth “to herald the demise of the Indian miracle are” mistaken. India offers expanding opportunities for the private sector by investing $1 trillion in infrastructure over the next five years. Mr.Tharoor admits that India faces grave challenges, including inflation, but argues that inflation is driven by the expanding middle class, and that fading demand for Indian exports can be supplemented with new domestic customers.

The Moderator’s Perspective -Adam Roberts

Mr. Adam Robert explained his views that the major issue we are facing is due to the poor political influence. Our state didn’t give much attention to ban the bad political interferences towards manufacturing sectors as well as to set up proper infrastructure facilities. Even though he is happy about the response from the readers, he mentioning that it will be a problem to conclude whose view is right and adaptive.

The proposer’s perspective -Mr. Arvind Subramaniam

Mr. Arvind Subramaniam objecting Mr.Shashi Tharoor's view on education sector, that its look impressive and he also showed the statistics. But Mr. Arvind object by providing the Annual survey of Educational Report Documents that India don't have much to tell on the educational sector. He also points out the issues which our country facing are inflation non-performance of public sector, lack of skilled labours.

Entire public sector job is based on the reservation rule mainly to boost up the backward class and they are push out the deserving students. This has led to the poor performance by the public sector. Political party’s focusing on their votes rather than the total outcome of the country.

Indian weakness is comparing with China. He believes that on a long run country growth is determined by the total capacity. He strongly believes that India has lost its way to success and we need to restructure the political and socio-economic policies and the whole system.

The rebutter’s perspective –Mr. Shashi Tharoor

Mr. Shashi Tharoor doesn’t agreeing Mr. Arvind. He believes that India's is on the right track towards the development and we can overcome all the issues which we are facing in all the sectors. He also believes that out productivity will increase after providing the maximum support to the infrastructure. The new FDI policies by the central ministry give the hope to this argument. He strongly believes that India hasn’t lost its way to success and he added that we are in the right track of development for last 30 years. (He didn’t show any evidence). The global recession teach investors to invest from western countries to India. Entrepreneurial and effective approach in the private sector is actually helpful to attract more potential long run customers here.

Conclusion

Sadly, I support the proposer’s motion. Overall it was a good debate conducted by the Economist. Our economy is unlikely to get back to high growth rates as politics of existence takes over. No one is undertaking the risk to take decisions to push our economy to stand with other countries. Our politicians are unable to play their role by other forces.

We are on the right track but there is a lack of core element of creating institution of empowering real people at root level. It’s a good debate which is needed for a developing.

I would like to suggest that the government should allow FDI with 100% investment and stimulate competition. Government can impose tax and other policies to control over the business.

We need to focus towards East Asian countries like China, Cambodia, Indonesia, South Korea etc. Normally we used to plan business as well as international treaties with Western countries. Indians are interested to migrate into western countries. Now these regions are in the peak position, fast development will not take place.

East Asian countries are facing almost same issues like poverty, political issues, economic issues etc. So united approaches will be help to political growth in Asia. Collaboration with China will be helpful for labour transfer, technology transfer, education and other infrastructures etc. Political support with China will be good to improve the powers in Asian countries. We can supply many products to China and we can manufacture more products too.

And Apple is working with top manufacturers to introduce Made for iPhone hearing aids that will deliver a power-efficient, high-quality digital audio experience.

It happens. You misplace your iPhone or your iPad or your iPod touch. Luckily, iOS 6 and iCloud now offer Lost mode, making it even easier to use Find My iPhone to locate and protect a missing device.8 Immediately lock your missing iPhone with a four-digit passcode and send it a message displaying a contact number. That way a good Samaritan can call you from your Lock screen without accessing the rest of the information on your iPhone.
