Add A Login Message

1. First open terminal.
2. Enter: sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.loginwindow LoginwindowText "Your Message"
3. Change your message to whatever you want.

To remove follow steps 1-2 and on step three change "your mesage" to read just "".

The theme has been changed three times within the last 24 hours. I have stuck with this one as it is the easiest to read of and edit. In my mind the Macbook theme was better but it was harder to edit and things didn't sit on the page properly.

Getting Audio Out Of .swf Files

Ok, if you want to get audio from .swf files you will need three free programs. Swf to FLV and iSquint and Mpeg Streamline Clip.

1. Download software from links. Then install it.
2. Open the Swf to FLV converter.
3. Follow the guide on the Swf to FLV download page (it's quite good).
4. Open iSquint and convert the FLV to Mpeg or whatever you want.
5. Open the Mpeg file in MPEG Streamline Clip.
6. Click file then export audio.
7. Select the format you want and your done!

Change Folder Backgrounds

In this guide I will teach you how to change the backgrounds of folders from white to a custom picture.

1. Select the folder you want to change the background of and open it.
2. Type the command +J
3. Down the bottom of the window that just popped up select picture.
4. Drag a picture to the box beside the word "picture", careful when you change folders the +J menu does to so make sure not to change the picture of the wrong folder.

To reverse the changes back to white follow the steps again but select "White' not "Picture".

Shorten Spotlight Searches

In this guide I will show you how to find apps using abbreviated names e.g MSN. This name help shorten search time.

1. find an application that you want to find quicker (for this instance I used Microsoft Messanger).
2. Select the app and on your keyboard push: +i or command+i.
3. Where it says comments type whatever you want the app to come up under on spotlight (I put MSN).
4. Search in spotlight for the abbreviated name.

It should now appear under the word or abbreviation that you entered. To remove the comment follow steps 1 and 2 then delete whatever you entered.

Customize Your Dock

1 First download Leopard Docks App (works with 10.6 too)

2 Download a custom dock from here

3 Open Leopard docks

4 Click browse and locate the Dock folder that you downloaded (step 2)

5 Click change my dock!

To reverse click the original dock radio button

Hide Desktop Icons

To hide the icons on your desktop first open terminal and type (or copy) this: defaults write com.apple.finder CreateDesktop -bool false

Then type: killall Finder

Your icons should be gone now. If they aren't check that you typed the code correctly.

If you want your icons back type this: defaults write com.apple.finder CreateDesktop -bool true

Then: killall Finder

Your icons should reappear. Note: I'm not responsible for any damage caused to your Mac from this tutorial.
