Have you ever wondered the meaning of Olamide’s Tattoos? Here are the meaning of his Tattoos.

2017-12-14T10:10:00.004+01:00

Celebrities constantly have to add novelties to their appearance to attract the attention of fans. Some stars change their style of dressing, others – hairstyle, and some get a noticeable tattoo. However, this decision must be well thought because it is not so easy to get rid of that sort of ink on the body. It becomes your companion for your entire life. From this article, you will learn about Olamide tattoos.

Followers of this talented musician frequently ask: does Olamide have tattoo on his body? He has two of them and each has a profound meaning. They appeared quite recently. You have probably heard that it’s not easy for a person to stop after getting one tattoo. This is indeed so. Maybe soon we will learn about a new Olamide Baddo tattoo.

The 1st tattoo

While many other celebrities depict their money, cars, girls, and other attributes of their luxury life on their bodies, this musician paid tribute to his Yoruba roots. On his leg is a portrait of Oduduwa who was the first Ooni of Ife-Ife. His name is associated with the oldest Yoruba dynasties because he is the ancestor of many kings who ruled this tribe’s land at different periods of history. Oduduwa posthumously got the status of primordial divinity and is exalted among Yorubas.

This is a wonderful choice of tattoo. Fans found out about its appearance on the left leg of the favorite star in October 2016.

The 2nd tattoo

If our native land is determined at birth, then our hobby and profession is a personal choice. This is the theme of the Olamide’s second tattoo. In early 2017, the rapper inked a picture of the guitar on his right leg, emphasizing his love for the music industry to which he decided to devote his life.

Now you know the answer to the question: “Did Olamide draw tattoo?” and you have also learned about the meaning of his tattoos. However, there is still plenty of space on his body. Perhaps he will decorate it with some other profound and beautiful images. In time we will see.

Damning revelations show that Kiss Daniel earned a monthly salary of 30k and missed his father’s burial because of his Label demands.

2017-12-14T10:01:00.002+01:00

Beloved Nigerian pop star, Kiss Daniel is currently entangle in a legal battle with his former record label, G-Worldwide. Their case is already in court and the media has been filtered with reports, insinuations, court documents and some facts.

Since the story broke, Linda Ikeji’s blog started investigating and talking to both parties involved and while the key players are avoiding the media as well as being quoted, their aides and sources close to them are talking.

According to LIB, it was revealed that contrary to the denials by G-Worldwide in the press, Kiss Daniel was actually placed on a monthly salary of 30,000 per month all through the success of his hit single ‘Woju’.

A highly placed source who spoke to the blog on condition of anonymity said, ‘from the beginning of his contract (a 7 years and 5 album contract) he wasn’t placed on any percentage rather Kiss Daniel was placed on a monthly salary of 30,000 (thirty thousand naira) up until ‘Woju’ remix was released then it was later increased to 50,000 (fifty thousand naira) before he insisted on a review of his contract in 2015 and by the second quarter of 2015 he began to receive 40% of his performance fees. All the while he was collecting 30k, the boy already had a monster hit song ‘Woju’ and was raking in millions of naira’.

‘I really can’t place the date but I’m sure he was on that salary till after the release of ‘Laye’ which was released in May 2015′

LIB’s investigations also revealed that Kiss Daniel though wasn’t legally barred from collaborations, his record label vehemently stood against it, ‘the label categorically banned him from doing collaborations and made it look like he’s the one avoiding it. Or have you also seen his label mate, Sugarboy on any collaborations? The industry can testify to it, i won’t mention names but we all know. All the superstars who came to support Kiss Daniel at his album listening party, he couldn’t pay back the favour when they needed him because the label prevented him from doing so.

Basketmouth even had to block him on Instagram because Kiss was supposed to do a show for him but his label refused and Basketmouth got angry thinking Kiss Daniel was the one playing games with him’.

Naija And Nigeria: Atiku Highlights The Difference

2017-12-14T09:49:00.001+01:00

Many Nigerians cannot categorically differentiate between the word Nigeria and Naija, but a former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, knows they are not the same.

One word that the Nigerian government does not want Nigerians to use when they talk about the most populous African nation is 'Naija'.

The word, Naija, has in the past decade continued to wax strong, finding its way into the mouths of most young Nigerians and the government has continued to wonder where this word is coming from.

To stifle its use, the Director-General, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mr Garba Abari, in February this year appealed to Nigerians to stop referring to Nigeria as Najia and keep its originality.

Abari told reporters in Abuja that the new trend of making funky the original name of Nigeria was worrisome and not in the best interest of the country.

Young Nigerians love 'Naija' to an extent that it somethings kills any perceived divide in terms of ethnicity.

Despite their love for this word, many Nigerian cannot categorically tell the difference between Nigeria and the word Naija, but a former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, knows and he wants young Nigerians to also know the meaning.

On Friday, he tweeted the meaning and the difference between Naija and Nigeria on his Twitter handle.

The image which he twitted read: "I do understand your frustration on the issue, however. I tell people my age that to understand young Nigerians, we need to understand the difference between Nigeria and Naija.

"Naija embodies the hopes and dreams of young Nigerians, the country they love and long to go home to when they are abroad.

"Naija is the country that brings them pride in music, film, comedy, fashion and technology.

"It is the country of Wiz Kid, Asa, David O, Tuface, the Olympic bobsled team, Iwobi and Don Jazzy Again.

"Nigeria on the other hand is the country of their parents, the country where leaders are constantly failing them, of Boko Haram, of herdsmen violence, of recession and joblessness.

"Our young people need us to make our country live up to the aspirations of Naija by fixing the problems associated with Nigeria".

How Alexis Sanchez inspired Chile to 2-0 Confederations Cup win over African champions, Cameroon

2017-06-19T10:28:00.002+01:00

STORY HIGHLIGHTS

Chile looked set to settle for a draw until the Arsenal man came on.

Sanchez made his impact off the bench

African champions Cameroon fell 2-0 to South America’s Chile in their opening FIFA Confederations Cup match on Sunday.

The scoreline could have been worse for Cameroon who had goalkeeper, Fabrice Ondoa to thank for a string of saves.

Chile thought they had broken Ondoa’s resistance on the stroke of half time when Eduardo Vargas swept home at the end of a fluid move.

But the Video Assistant Referee was called upon, leading to the goal being disallowed and the first half ending goalless, much to Arturo Vidal‘s fury.

Vargas celebrates his goal with Leonardo Valencia

Chile continued to dominate the encounter and finally broke the deadlock 10 minutes from time when Vidal met substitute, Alexis Sanchez‘s cross with a powerful header.

The result was sealed in the 90th minute when Vargas got his goal off a rebound from Sanchez’s blocked shot on the line.

Chile’s 2-0 win puts them top of the group, though, world champions Germany could replace them there if they beat Australia in Monday’s match.

Sacked FBI Director James Comey Releases Shocking Details of his Encounters with President Trump

2017-06-08T11:04:00.000+01:00

James Comey

Former FBI Director James Comey‘s has released an opening statement for his testimony to Senate Intelligence Committee tomorrow, June 9, detailing his encounters with President Donald Trump.

The details in the statement is sending shock waves round the world.

He mentioned how the President called for over nine private meetings and most centered around requesting his loyalty and honesty. He also mentioned how the President pressured him to publicly declare him (Trump) free from investigation.

He said that he had nine one-on-one conversations with President Trump in four months (three in person and six on the phone). He said he only spoke alone with former president Barack Obama twice (in person).

He added that Trump also wanted him to drop a probe on Mike Flynn (former National Security Adviser), saying he wasn’t wrong for speaking to the Russians.

Read full statement published by the Senate Intelligence Committee below:

Statement for the Record Senate Select Committee on Intelligence

James B. Comey

June 8, 2017

Chairman Burr, Ranking Member Warner, Members of the Committee. Thank you for inviting me to appear before you today. I was asked to testify today to describe for you my interactions with President-Elect and President Trump on subjects that I understand are of interest to you. I have not included every detail from my conversations with the President, but, to the best of my recollection, I have tried to include information that may be relevant to the Committee.

January 6 Briefing

I first met then-President-Elect Trump on Friday, January 6 in a conference room at Trump Tower in New York. I was there with other Intelligence Community (IC) leaders to brief him and his new national security team on the findings of an IC assessment concerning Russian efforts to interfere in the election. At the conclusion of that briefing, I remained alone with the President- Elect to brief him on some personally sensitive aspects of the information assembled during the assessment.

The IC leadership thought it important, for a variety of reasons, to alert the incoming President to the existence of this material, even though it was salacious and unverified. Among those reasons were: (1) we knew the media was about to publicly report the material and we believed the IC should not keep knowledge of the material and its imminent release from the President-Elect; and (2) to the extent there was some effort to compromise an incoming President, we could blunt any such effort with a defensive briefing.

The Director of National Intelligence asked that I personally do this portion of the briefing because I was staying in my position and because the material implicated the FBI’s counter-intelligence responsibilities. We also agreed I would do it alone to minimize potential embarrassment to the President-Elect. Although we agreed it made sense for me to do the briefing, the FBI’s leadership and I were concerned that the briefing might create a situation where a new President came into office uncertain about whether the FBI was conducting a counter-intelligence investigation of his personal conduct.

It is important to understand that FBI counter-intelligence investigations are different than the more-commonly known criminal investigative work. The Bureau’s goal in a counter-intelligence investigation is to understand the technical and human methods that hostile foreign powers are using to influence the United States or to steal our secrets. The FBI uses that understanding to disrupt those efforts. Sometimes disruption takes the form of alerting a person who is targeted for recruitment or influence by the foreign power. Sometimes it involves hardening a computer system that is being attacked. Sometimes it involves “turning” the recruited person into a double-agent, or publicly calling out the behavior with sanctions or expulsions of embassy-based intelligence officers. On occasion, criminal prosecution is used to disrupt intelligence activities.

Because the nature of the hostile foreign nation is well known, counter- intelligence investigations tend to be centered on individuals the FBI suspects to be witting or unwitting agents of that foreign power. When the FBI develops reason to believe an American has been targeted for recruitment by a foreign power or is covertly acting as an agent of the foreign power, the FBI will “open an investigation” on that American and use legal authorities to try to learn more about the nature of any relationship with the foreign power so it can be disrupted.

In that context, prior to the January 6 meeting, I discussed with the FBI’s leadership team whether I should be prepared to assure President-Elect Trump that we were not investigating him personally. That was true; we did not have an open counter-intelligence case on him. We agreed I should do so if circumstances warranted. During our one-on-one meeting at Trump Tower, based on President- Elect Trump’s reaction to the briefing and without him directly asking the question, I offered that assurance.

I felt compelled to document my first conversation with the President-Elect in a memo. To ensure accuracy, I began to type it on a laptop in an FBI vehicle outside Trump Tower the moment I walked out of the meeting. Creating written records immediately after one-on-one conversations with Mr. Trump was my practice from that point forward. This had not been my practice in the past. I spoke alone with President Obama twice in person (and never on the phone) – once in 2015 to discuss law enforcement policy issues and a second time, briefly, for him to say goodbye in late 2016. In neither of those circumstances did I memorialize the discussions. I can recall nine one-on-one conversations with President Trump in four months – three in person and six on the phone.

January 27 Dinner

The President and I had dinner on Friday, January 27 at 6:30 pm in the Green Room at the White House. He had called me at lunchtime that day and invited me to dinner that night, saying he was going to invite my whole family, but decided to have just me this time, with the whole family coming the next time. It was unclear from the conversation who else would be at the dinner, although I assumed there would be others.

It turned out to be just the two of us, seated at a small oval table in the center of the Green Room. Two Navy stewards waited on us, only entering the room to serve food and drinks.

The President began by asking me whether I wanted to stay on as FBI Director, which I found strange because he had already told me twice in earlier conversations that he hoped I would stay, and I had assured him that I intended to. He said that lots of people wanted my job and, given the abuse I had taken during the previous year, he would understand if I wanted to walk away.

one setting, and the pretense that this was our first discussion about my position, meant the dinner was, at least in part, an effort to have me ask for my job and create some sort of patronage relationship. That concerned me greatly, given the FBI’s traditionally independent status in the executive branch.

year term as Director. And then, because the set-up made me uneasy, I added that I was not “reliable” in the way politicians use that word, but he could always count on me to tell him the truth. I added that I was not on anybody’s side politically and could not be counted on in the traditional political sense, a stance I said was in his best interest as the President.

A few moments later, the President said, “I need loyalty, I expect loyalty.” I didn’t move, speak, or change my facial expression in any way during the awkward silence that followed. We simply looked at each other in silence. The conversation then moved on, but he returned to the subject near the end of our dinner.

At one point, I explained why it was so important that the FBI and the Department of Justice be independent of the White House. I said it was a paradox: Throughout history, some Presidents have decided that because “problems” come from Justice, they should try to hold the Department close. But blurring those boundaries ultimately makes the problems worse by undermining public trust in the institutions and their work.

Near the end of our dinner, the President returned to the subject of my job, saying he was very glad I wanted to stay, adding that he had heard great things about me from Jim Mattis, Jeff Sessions, and many others. He then said, “I need loyalty.” I replied, “You will always get honesty from me.” He paused and then said, “That’s what I want, honest loyalty.” I paused, and then said, “You will get that from me.” As I wrote in the memo I created immediately after the dinner, it is possible we understood the phrase “honest loyalty” differently, but I decided it wouldn’t be productive to push it further. The term – honest loyalty – had helped end a very awkward conversation and my explanations had made clear what he should expect.

During the dinner, the President returned to the salacious material I had briefed him about on January 6, and, as he had done previously, expressed his disgust for the allegations and strongly denied them. He said he was considering ordering me to investigate the alleged incident to prove it didn’t happen. I replied that he should give that careful thought because it might create a narrative that we were investigating him personally, which we weren’t, and because it was very difficult to prove a negative. He said he would think about it and asked me to think about it. As was my practice for conversations with President Trump, I wrote a detailed memo about the dinner immediately afterwards and shared it with the senior leadership team of the FBI.

February 14 Oval Office Meeting

On February 14, I went to the Oval Office for a scheduled counter-terrorism briefing of the President. He sat behind the desk and a group of us sat in a semi-circle of about six chairs facing him on the other side of the desk. The Vice President, Deputy Director of the CIA, Director of the National Counter- Terrorism Center, Secretary of Homeland Security, the Attorney General, and I were in the semi-circle of chairs. I was directly facing the President, sitting between the Deputy CIA Director and the Director of NCTC. There were quite a few others in the room, sitting behind us on couches and chairs.

The President signaled the end of the briefing by thanking the group and telling them all that he wanted to speak to me alone. I stayed in my chair. As the participants started to leave the Oval Office, the Attorney General lingered by my chair, but the President thanked him and said he wanted to speak only with me. The last person to leave was Jared Kushner, who also stood by my chair and exchanged pleasantries with me. The President then excused him, saying he wanted to speak with me.

When the door by the grandfather clock closed, and we were alone, the President began by saying, “I want to talk about Mike Flynn.” Flynn had resigned the previous day. The President began by saying Flynn hadn’t done anything wrong in speaking with the Russians, but he had to let him go because he had misled the Vice President. He added that he had other concerns about Flynn, which he did not then specify.

The President then made a long series of comments about the problem with leaks of classified information – a concern I shared and still share. After he had spoken for a few minutes about leaks, Reince Priebus leaned in through the door by the grandfather clock and I could see a group of people waiting behind him. The President waved at him to close the door, saying he would be done shortly. The door closed.

The President then returned to the topic of Mike Flynn, saying, “He is a good guy and has been through a lot.” He repeated that Flynn hadn’t done anything wrong on his calls with the Russians, but had misled the Vice President. He then said, “I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go. He is a good guy. I hope you can let this go.” I replied only that “he is a good guy.” (In fact, I had a positive experience dealing with Mike Flynn when he was a colleague as Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency at the beginning of my term at FBI.) I did not say I would “let this go.”

The President returned briefly to the problem of leaks. I then got up and left out the door by the grandfather clock, making my way through the large group of people waiting there, including Mr. Priebus and the Vice President.

I immediately prepared an unclassified memo of the conversation about Flynn and discussed the matter with FBI senior leadership. I had understood the President to be requesting that we drop any investigation of Flynn in connection with false statements about his conversations with the Russian ambassador in December. I did not understand the President to be talking about the broader investigation into Russia or possible links to his campaign. I could be wrong, but I took him to be focusing on what had just happened with Flynn’s departure and the controversy around his account of his phone calls. Regardless, it was very concerning, given the FBI’s role as an independent investigative agency.

The FBI leadership team agreed with me that it was important not to infect the investigative team with the President’s request, which we did not intend to abide. We also concluded that, given that it was a one-on-one conversation, there was nothing available to corroborate my account. We concluded it made little sense to report it to Attorney General Sessions, who we expected would likely recuse himself from involvement in Russia-related investigations. (He did so two weeks later.) The Deputy Attorney General’s role was then filled in an acting capacity by a United States Attorney, who would also not be long in the role.

After discussing the matter, we decided to keep it very closely held, resolving to figure out what to do with it down the road as our investigation progressed. The investigation moved ahead at full speed, with none of the investigative team members – or the Department of Justice lawyers supporting them – aware of the President’s request.

Shortly afterwards, I spoke with Attorney General Sessions in person to pass along the President’s concerns about leaks. I took the opportunity to implore the Attorney General to prevent any future direct communication between the President and me. I told the AG that what had just happened – him being asked to leave while the FBI Director, who reports to the AG, remained behind – was inappropriate and should never happen. He did not reply. For the reasons discussed above, I did not mention that the President broached the FBI’s potential investigation of General Flynn.

March 30 Phone Call

On the morning of March 30, the President called me at the FBI. He described the Russia investigation as “a cloud” that was impairing his ability to act on behalf of the country. He said he had nothing to do with Russia, had not been involved with hookers in Russia, and had always assumed he was being recorded when in Russia. He asked what we could do to “lift the cloud.” I responded that we were investigating the matter as quickly as we could, and that there would be great benefit, if we didn’t find anything, to our having done the work well. He agreed, but then re-emphasized the problems this was causing him.

Then the President asked why there had been a congressional hearing about Russia the previous week – at which I had, as the Department of Justice directed, confirmed the investigation into possible coordination between Russia and the Trump campaign. I explained the demands from the leadership of both parties in Congress for more information, and that Senator Grassley had even held up the confirmation of the Deputy Attorney General until we briefed him in detail on the investigation. I explained that we had briefed the leadership of Congress on exactly which individuals we were investigating and that we had told those Congressional leaders that we were not personally investigating President Trump. I reminded him I had previously told him that. He repeatedly told me, “We need to get that fact out.” (I did not tell the President that the FBI and the Department of Justice had been reluctant to make public statements that we did not have an open case on President Trump for a number of reasons, most importantly because it would create a duty to correct, should that change.)

The President went on to say that if there were some “satellite” associates of his who did something wrong, it would be good to find that out, but that he hadn’t done anything wrong and hoped I would find a way to get it out that we weren’t investigating him.

In an abrupt shift, he turned the conversation to FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, saying he hadn’t brought up “the McCabe thing” because I had said McCabe was honorable, although McAuliffe was close to the Clintons and had given him (I think he meant Deputy Director McCabe’s wife) campaign money. Although I didn’t understand why the President was bringing this up, I repeated that Mr. McCabe was an honorable person.

He finished by stressing “the cloud” that was interfering with his ability to make deals for the country and said he hoped I could find a way to get out that he wasn’t being investigated. I told him I would see what we could do, and that we would do our investigative work well and as quickly as we could.

Immediately after that conversation, I called Acting Deputy Attorney General Dana Boente (AG Sessions had by then recused himself on all Russia- related matters), to report the substance of the call from the President, and said I would await his guidance. I did not hear back from him before the President called me again two weeks later.

April 11 Phone Call

On the morning of April 11, the President called me and asked what I had done about his request that I “get out” that he is not personally under investigation. I replied that I had passed his request to the Acting Deputy Attorney General, but I had not heard back. He replied that “the cloud” was getting in the way of his ability to do his job. He said that perhaps he would have his people reach out to the Acting Deputy Attorney General. I said that was the way his request should be handled. I said the White House Counsel should contact the leadership of DOJ to make the request, which was the traditional channel.

He said he would do that and added, “Because I have been very loyal to you, very loyal; we had that thing you know.” I did not reply or ask him what he meant by “that thing.” I said only that the way to handle it was to have the White House Counsel call the Acting Deputy Attorney General. He said that was what he would do and the call ended.

That was the last time I spoke with President Trump.

General. He said that was what he would do and the call ended.

That was the last time I spoke with President Trump.

University of Ibadan shut over students’ protest

2017-05-30T09:32:00.003+01:00

Authorities of the University of Ibadan (UI) have closed down the school, following students’ protest.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Idowu Olayinka, said the closure was as a result of protest by students and to prevent a breakdown of law and order.

Undergraduates were ordered to vacate campus latest by 6pm yesterday.

The institution had fixed the first semester examination for June, but it will now begin on July 17.

The vice chancellor said postgraduate students can continue with their lectures.

The protesters blocked the Mokola-UI-Ojoo Highway, causing a gridlock.

This followed students’ resolutions at a congress last weekend that the management be given two days to constitute a students’ welfare board and set up a fact-finding committee to look into the issue of hot-plates in halls of residence.

The students said there would be no examinations if the university failed to issue them ID cards, which were paid for last session and this session at the rate of N650 and N1,300.

The university management said in a statement that efforts are on to ensure identity cards are produced and distributed, starting from the middle of next month.

It issued a circular, informing deans of faculties that students’ registration forms and other valid university instruments would be considered as sufficient for admission into examination halls in the coming examination.

“They were renovating this building with people still living in the house and it was about eight bricklayers that were working on the building. Many people were injured. I saw two of the ambulances filled with injured victims and the rescuers are still at the scene. Some people are still on the ground and first floor and until the rescuers clear the rubble on the second and third floors, they cannot get to where other victims are trapped,” Musa said.

He said the dead were a bricklayer and a girl, who lived with her parents. The girl’s parents, he said, were injured.

An oil trader, Mr HazeezBakare, said the building was on a canal filled with dirt.

“This area is swampy and that was why the building collapsed. People must have been living in this house for over 40 years. They were meant to demolish the house and build it again instead of the renovation. They must have told the occupants to leave the building for the renovation to be done, but they cannot afford another accommodation, that must have been why many of them remained in the building while it was being renovated. Being a public holiday, many of the occupants would be in the house when the building collapsed,” he said.

LASEMA General Manager Adesina Tiamiyu said: “The agency received a distress call at about 7am concerning a collapsed three-storey building on the Island, which prompted the immediate activation of the agency’s ERT and other responders which include the Lagos State Ambulance Service, Lagos State Fire Service, LASBCA, National Emergency Management Agency, police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps to the scene.”

The 14 injured were moved by the LASAMBUS and LASEMA response team Ambulance to Mainland Hospital. He said two bodies were recovered from the debris and handed over to their family members for burial.

Tiamiyu said preliminary investigation showed that illegal work was being carried out on the building already inhabited by people. He said investigation would be conducted to ascertain the circumstances that led to the collapse.

Tiamiyu advised owners and developers to adhere to building and physical planning laws to avert disasters.

Fuel: Black marketers take over Ekiti streets

2017-05-30T09:27:00.004+01:00

Ekiti State residents are at the mercy of petrol black marketers, who are capitalising on the face-off between Governor Ayo Fayose and oil marketers to make brisk business.

The people, who buy the commodity from neighbouring states, sell to consumers at N300 per litre, as against the government regulated price of N145 per litre.

The black marketers operate in front of Akure motor park on Ado-Ikere Road in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital and at Odo-Oja roundabout in Ikere-Ekiti.

They also sell on major roads linking Ekiti with other states.

Filling stations owned by marketers have been shut in the last three weeks, in obedience to the directive by the national secretariat of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) and other oil-based unions to protest alleged victimisation by Fayose.

The marketers defied the governor’s order to reopen their outlets. He threatened to revoke their Certificates of Occupancy (C of Os) after 24 hours last Thursday.

An All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in the state, Mr. Kayode Ojo, has appealed to the governor to end the face-off with the marketers, to alleviate the masses’ suffering.

He urged the national bodies of the National Union of

Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) and IPMAN to restore fuel supply to the state in the interest of the populace.

Obasanjo warns of looming youth anger

2017-05-29T10:28:00.005+01:00

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo is worried about the anger and frustration of youths.

He said if the youth’s anger is not well-managed, it could lead to an “explosion”.

Obasanjo spoke yesterday at the Youth Governance Dialogue organised by the Youth Development Centre, an arm of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

He lamented that youths were not getting the required help.

The former president noted that while his generation had “limitless opportunities but no facilities” in their time, the youth of today “have facilities but little or no opportunities”.

He cited the insurgency in the Northeast, the separatist agitators in the Southeast and militancy in the Niger Delta region as manifestations of anger and frustrations from disillusioned youths.Obasanjo warned that should anger of youths erupt, there might be no limit to the extent it could spread.

He appealed to the youth to work hard to help themselves and be ready to pay the price for the right cause they believe.

But he said despite all odds, the youth still remained his greatest hope for Nigeria.

Obasanjo noted that when he left secondary school, he received letters of appointments from five establishments and wondered whether any Nigerian university graduate could have such opportunities today.

He pleaded with the nation’s youth not to wish the elders dead, saying they need the elders as mentors and advisers in their journey of life.

“Don’t wish us dead; don’t wish us to disappear because you will need us. You need us as mentors and advisers to mentor and prepare you for the future. You need the experience and assistance of some of us to guide you through life.

“You should not lose hope, you should not feel frustrated. Whenever I go, they always ask me what is my fear about Nigeria and Africa. And I said my greatest fear is youth anger, frustrations and youth explosion, which have no bound.

“We have the Boko Haram in the North, the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in the Southeast, the militants in the Niger Delta and the Oodua Peoples Congress in the Southwest. All of these are expression of anger and frustrations.

“We have what it takes to be great as a nation and we can’t transform this country without the youth. My greatest hope in this country is also the youth. You the youth should work to help yourselves. You must be ready to pay the price for what you stand for,” Obasanjo said.

The lead speaker and former Minister of Aviation, Mr. Osita Chidoka who spoke on the theme: “Towards a Guiding Political Philosophy for a Democratic Nigeria,” advised that the nation’s leaders should build a society that harness human and material resources effectively, provide equal opportunities and develop capacity for innovation.

Chidoka proposed a new charter for the country, saying the charter should contain reasons for the country’s unity, and which guarantees the basic rights, privileges and obligations of citizens.

“Our national aspirations should inspire the next generation and provide them with the existential meaning of Nigeria; a meaning that transcends geography, natural resources and ethnicity. To grow Nigeria, we must build a society that harness human resources, provides equal opportunities and develop capacity for innovation.

Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal, who spoke on the topic:”Preparing Successor Generation for Effective Participation in Governance”, urged leaders to put structure in place for the youth to advance to position of leadership.

“We cannot keep calling them the leaders of tomorrow without ensuring that we put in place deliberate measures that will aid their quest for public service.

“Sometimes candour and youthful excitement can cause as much harm as the most venal form of corruption.

“We have to find the means to reduce unemployment. There is no doubt that the current diversification policy of President Buhari government will eventually provide broader opportunities for self-employment,” Tambuwal said.

Osinbajo on Democracy Day: let’s make sacrifices

2017-05-29T10:26:00.001+01:00

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo yesterday urged Nigerians to make sacrifices for Nigeria’s greatness.

He spoke at the Interdenominational church service to mark Democracy Day at the National Christian Centre in Abuja.

The theme of the service, “The dry bones shall live again” was taken from Ezekiel 37:11.

Prof. Osinbajo recalled the story of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10:30-37 and urged Nigerians not to behave like the politician and the cleric in the story who looked the other way when they saw a man that was attacked by thieves.

He urged them to emulate the Good Samaritan, the man who had compassion on the injured, poured oil on his wounds, bandaged him and took him to the hospital.

Osinbajo said: “When we look at our country, it is not the state that fell that is the story, but the story is how the people reacted when you see the nation that needs to be helped.

“While the politician and cleric looked the other way when they saw the man that was half dead, the Good Samaritan had compassion on him, bandaged him and took him to the hospital.

“Who truly loves the nation? Is it the priest that said a prayer, walked past, or the politician that looked and walked past or the Samaritan that took the wounded to the hospital, paid some money and said treat him, on my return, I will upset the bill.

“The nation requires those that can make the sacrifices to make it great. They are those who Jesus spoke about, people that may not be of note but prepared to make the nation great again. Some are doctors, teachers, young graduates.

“There is sacrifice of integrity against corruption. When you speak against corruption, it fights back, so you must be ready to make sacrifice no matter how highly-placed or small you are. Teachers who are prepared to teach, doctors who are prepared to provide health services, no matter what.

“Make the sacrifices required to make our nation great whether you are a leader or a follower.”

The acting President prayed to God to speedily heal President Muhammadu Buhari, who is on medical vacation in Britain and bring him back safely.

He also prayed for grace on those willing to make sacrifices to make the nation great again.

Delivering his sermon, the presiding Apostle of the Word Communication Ministries and Founder of Christ Family Assembly Churches, Apostle Sunday Popoola, warned those contemplating a coup to desist because it would not succeed.

He said the service was mainly to thank God for 18 years of unbroken democracy, to reflect on how Nigerians have played their roles and seek the face of God for Nigeria’s glorious future.

He called for patience with the Buhari administration saying it meant well for the country.

The cleric said: “If you are out there like me, you will know that Nigerians are fed up and are waiting for something to spark. We need to be patient with the present government, which has something to offer.

“Coup cannot work now and will not succeed.”

Apostle Popoola called for institutions to be strengthened through radical reforms.

Like Prophet Ezekiel, he asked: “Can this dry bone called Nigeria rise again? He replied: “It can.”

Apostle Popoola said 100 years after the amalgamation of the North and the South, the country could not continue to blame the imperialists.

According to him, the 2014 National Conference ought to be revisited and the various nations that make up Nigeria must decide the future.

The First scripture reading, Ezekiel 37:1-14, was taken by Chief Justice of Nigeria Walter Onnoghen

The Second scripture reading was taken by House of Representatives Speaker Yakubu Dogara.

Prayers were said for President Buhari and the Acting President. There were also prayers for peace, security and development in the country.

At the service were Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) President Rev. Samson Ayokunle, the wife of the Acting President, Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo, House Speaker Yakubu Dogara’s wife Gimbia, CJN’s wife Mrs. Nkoyo Onnoghen, Head of Service of the Federation, Mrs. Winifred Oyo-Ita, members of the legislature, the judiciary, the military, clerics, traditional rulers and members of the diplomatic corps.

Aaron Ramsey header hands Gunners FA Cup glory

2017-05-29T10:22:00.003+01:00

Arsenal ended a season of frustration and uncertainty with FA Cup glory, denying 10-man Chelsea the double as beleaguered Arsene Wenger became the most successful manager in the competition’s history.

Having stumbled home fifth and missed out on Champions League qualification, criticism of the Gunners boss has reached unprecedented and unpalatable levels.

Wenger has continued undeterred and, ahead of talks about his future next week, oversaw a record seventh FA Cup triumph on Saturday, with Aaron Ramsey securing a memorable 2-1 win moments after Chelsea’s Diego Costa had cancelled out Alexis Sanchez’s controversial strike.

Victor Moses’ sending off after taking a tumble added intrigue to a final that enthralled from the outset, when an offside call against Sanchez was rightly overruled – although his handball in the build-up was missed.

The first half could have been so much worse for unusually disjointed Chelsea, with Gary Cahill having to clear Mesut Ozil and Danny Welbeck efforts off the line, while the latter saw a header come back off the post and Ramsey directed the rebound on to the woodwork.

Desperation soon crept into Chelsea’s improved second-half display and Moses took a tumble in the box searching for a penalty, only to be deservedly handed a second yellow card.

The Blues responded manfully as Costa somehow beat surprise selection David Ospina, yet Arsenal were not to be denied a 13th FA Cup.

Ramsey, the match-winner in 2014 against Hull, ran through to head home as Antonio Conte’s men went close to a famous double, without a celebratory cigar.

Manchester United Defeats Ajax to win Club’s First Europa League Title

2017-05-25T11:40:00.005+01:00

Manchester United claimed their second major trophy of the season and secured Champions League football as they overcame Ajax to win the Europa League final in Stockholm.

On an emotional night following the Manchester attack which killed 22 people atAriana Grande‘s concert on Monday, United’s fans were allowed a measure of celebration as Jose Mourinho‘s side won in comfort.

Paul Pogba‘s deflected shot put them ahead in the 18th minute and Henrikh Mkhitaryan‘s sixth Europa League goal of the campaign confirmed they would add to the English Football League Cup won against Southampton earlier this season.

Wayne Rooney made a brief appearance as a substitute with a minute left and was handed the captain’s armband by Antonio Valencia on what could well be his farewell appearance for United.

And as the final whistle sounded and United’s celebrations began, chants of “Manchester” rang around the Friends Arena in tribute to those who died and were injured in the attack which cast a shadow over this showpiece occasion.

The win means the Red Devils are now the fifth team to claim the full quota of European trophies, joining an illustrious list with Ajax, Chelsea, Juventus and Bayern Munich.

It was also a European final won without key defender Eric Bailly, who was suspended, and 28-goal leading scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who sustained a serious knee injury in the quarter-final win against Anderlecht at Old Trafford.

The win also ensures Jose Mourinho is the first manager to win both the Europa Cup and UEFA Champions League more than once.

Bill Cosby gives First Interview in Two Years following Rape Allegations

2017-05-16T10:42:00.005+01:00

Bill Cosby recently gave his first interview in over two years since allegations of sexual assault against him first surfaced.

The 79-year-old comedian spoke out on whether he agreed with his daughter Ensa‘s recent statement that racism played a role in his scandal.

He said, “Could be, could be. I can’t say anything, but there are certain things that I look at, and I apply to the situation, and there are so many tentacles. So many different — nefarious is a great word. And I just truly believe that some of it may very well be that.”

He made the statement while speaking with SiriusXM host Michael Smerconish.

Bill Cosby was also asked about the staggering number of women accusing him of misconduct.

On that he stated, “I think that the numbers came because the numbers prior to the numbers didn’t work. So the piling on, so to speak, is a way — and certainly an impressive, impressive way — to get public opinion to come to the other side.”

Bill is set to go to trial next month.

Why President Buhari Missed Wednesday’s FEC Meeting – Lai Mohammed

2017-05-04T10:01:00.003+01:00

Lai Mohammed

Minister of Information and Culture Lai Mohammed said that President Muhammadu Buhari was absent at Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting due to advice from his doctors.

Mohammed stated this while briefing State House correspondents after the FEC meeting, which was presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, in the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

He explained that the President, who was in office on Tuesday, was asked to rest by his doctors.

He thanked Nigerians for their concern and prayers for the quick recovery of the president.

“I know you will want to know why the President was not at the meeting.

You are also aware that the President was at his office yesterday (Tuesady) and worked at the office.

I think about a few days before now we did come out to say he has been asked to take some rest by his doctors and he chosed today to rest instead of attending the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.

I want to use this opportunity to thank Nigerians who have expressed a lot of concern and sympathy and those who have been praying for him.

We always said Mr President will stick to his doctors’ advice so that he can recover much more quickly,’’ he said.

Mohammed dismissed as wicked and ungodly the insinuation that the Presient’s health had deteriorated to the extent that he was being assisted before taking his meals.

“It is absolutely bunkum. It is absolutely untrue that he is being fed.

He was in the office yesterday as you all reported. And if the doctor says ‘oh, you take a rest,’ I think you recover faster when you rest and when you ought to rest rather that forcing yourself to work when you are not fit to work.

All he is doing is that he is following the doctors’ advice.

So, whatever is happening today is not any new development. Is actually what he said that he has been advised to take it easy by his doctors and that he would soon also go back for further medical attention in the UK.,’’ he added.

According to the minister, President Buhari deserves commendation from all well-meaning individuals and groups for being transparent and upfront in the matter concerning his health.
