Google Calls Time on Its Microsoft Browser

2013-06-14T19:11:00.000+05:00

Google is retiring its Microsoft browser.

More than three and half years have passed since Google took the bold step of offering a software “plug-in” that could equip Microsoft’s Internet Explorer browsers with the engine at the heart of Google’s very own Chrome browser — a kind of escape hatch for people stuck with the slow, insecure, and limited engines offered by aging browsers like Internet Explorer 6 and 7. And now, the Mountain View tech giant believes the browser landscape as evolved to the point where this plug-in, known as Chrome Frame, is no longer necessary.

According to Alex Russell — who came to Google specifically to start the Chrome Frame project — the plug-in will officially be retired early in 2014, and the company is beginning to warn the consumers and businesses who use the tool. “We’ve gotten to the point now where the trend lines indicate the need for Chrome Frame is going to expire early next year, so we’re giving consumers and enterprises a lot of heads up that Chrome Frame is going to be going away,” he says.

What he means is that the number of people still using IE6 and IE7 has shrunk to the point where Chrome Frame is no longer needed.

In 2009, when Chrome Frame launched, IE6 and IE7 were still used by vast swaths of the web, in large part because many businesses were still requiring employees to run these ancient browsers in tandem with applications built specifically for them. The problem was that these older browsers weren’t equipped to run newer web applications — such as Google’s suite of online business applications, Google Apps — and Chrome Frame provided a (temporary) solution.

As recently as 2011, according to rough numbers from online research outfit Stat Owl, IE7 was still the second most popular browser on the market (at 27.56 percent) and IE6 was third (at 6.43 percent). But Russell believes these numbers have now dwindled to the point where Chrome Frame is no longer needed.

“Thankfully, there are not that many people still using it,” he says.

Google won’t actually remove the plug-in from user machines, but beginning early next year, it will sending warning that they’re running outdated software. Like any other modern browser, Chrome Frame is constantly improved and updated, and this will no longer be the case after the new year.

As usual, Google declined to say how many people are using Chrome Frame — or have used it in the past. But there was a time where the plug-in at least played a small role in pushing the browser world forward. In late 2011, parts of the big name financial house Morgan Stanley were still using IE7, and Aurelije Zovko, a Morgan Stanley executive director who handles IT duties for the New York-based company, told us that he was testing and exploring the use of Chrome Frame.

Though Chrome Frame is going away, Google will continue to work with companies that still depend on older browsers. As pointed out by Cyrus Mistry, senior product manager for the Chrome for Business browser, the company still offers a tool, known as “Legacy Browser Support,” that lets you configure Chrome so that it pops up older browsers such as IE6, IE7, and past versions of Mozilla Firefox, when it visits certain web sites.

Foursquare’s Visual History Will Make You Check In Again

2013-06-14T18:57:00.000+05:00

Social media and human tracking service Foursquare is beautifully serving up your check-in history.

Foursquare introduced a novel way to see your check-in history today. Its Time Machine site begins with your first check-in (probably your home or workplace) and proceeds to animate your check-ins on a map using connecting lines and pretty glowing circles.

When the process is finished, you have a visual representation of your wanderings, showing how often you’ve strayed into certain districts in your town. The map shows that, although I don’t live in San Francisco’s Mission district, I absolutely love the burritos found there. You’ll also be presented with stats on the types of businesses you frequent. Mine has lots of taquerias and pizza joints. You can download and share an infographic showing your Foursquare history, which may or may not be a good idea depending on how often you visit the local bar.

If you want to savor your check ins, instead of pressing the play button, you can click the right and left navigation arrows for a more detailed walk down Foursquare memory lane. Even if you’re not using the Foursquare app, the social network has been adopted by many other social apps including Vine, Path, and Instagram to power its location tagging system.

If you’re a heavy Foursquare user, this tool makes all those check-ins worth it for visual appeal alone. If you’ve stopped using Foursquare, this just might get you back on the path to reclaim the mayorship of the local Bánh mì shop.

From the classic where you take the fotito and begin to test cosmetics (all popular brands that put the option to buy), or the more advanced you will tones testing on the live image you see on your phone or tablet. Everything you do in a matter of segunditos, without having to wash the face to every change and without internet connection!, Because the processing is done on your gadget.

MakeUp Application

Makeup has been the best user ratings, but after a trial period, you will have to buy it.
Another application of Modiface, specifically for makeup, it Makeup Paint. This really has given me back completely to children because, instead of choosing colors to change your face, do it with an S-Pen on the touch screen mobile. Watch the video and tell me if you do not remember the time when coloring books rellenábais not get out of line. Funny, right?.
Modiface has run many other applications so you can prove you haircuts, clothes, nail polish, make them an extreme makeover and remove lines or turn you into a stylish star. But all I will comment in another post.

Crashed Car By Naked Man

An unidentified man was taken into custody after crashing his Mercedes in downtown Ft. Worth, TX while completely naked. The Star-Telegram reports the man was rear-ended after running a red light in his white SL 550.

According to witness reports, the man jumped out of the Mercedes—which was still in gear—after the crash and proceeded to calmly walk down the street wearing absolutely no clothing. Although the unattended Mercedes continued moving it crashed into a light pole without injuring anyone.

A police officer on a bicycle caught up with the uninjured naked man and took him into custody. India's Most Expensive Films

2012-04-01T16:24:00.000+05:00

A Tamil film song in broken English has gone viral on the internet and has kicked up a storm in India.

Tamil actor Dhanush's pop song Kolaveri (Killer Rage) has been viewed on YouTube more than two million times and has been shared over 700,000 times on Facebook since its release last week.

The song has been composed for an upcoming Tamil film called 3, directed by Dhanush's wife Aishwarya.

Tamil cinema is one of India's most thriving entertainment industries.

Dhanush is the son-in-law of Rajinikanth, Tamil cinema's biggest star.

"The song is about a guy who has been dumped by the girlfriend," Dhanush told The Times Of India newspaper.

"He is drunk and he is singing. But the director wanted the lines to be really funny. I did not know how to write a song about a guy who has just been dumped in a funny way. I did not think. It just came to me."

'Irreverent'

The result is a song about heartbreak in simple, somewhat nonsensical words, in a unique language that can only be called "Tamglish" - a mix of Tamil and English.

White'tu Skin'nu Girl'lu Girl'lu/Girl'lu Heart'tu Black'ku/Eyes'su Eyes'su Meet'tu Meet'tu”

Kolaveri lyrics

"We all expected it to be a hit by not the kind of rage that it has become today," Anirudh Ravichander, who composed the song, said.

So what is it about Kolaveri that has made it the most hummed tune in India today?

Shridhar Subramaniam, chief of Sony Music Entertainment India, says Kolaveri is a "genre-bending" tune.

"I cannot exactly define what makes it work, but it gets under your skin, gets into your head and the moment you hear it, you cannot stop humming it," he said.

It is not only the young who are enjoying the song, although it does seem to be coming a part of India's youthspeak.

One fan, Shobha Prasad, director of a market research company, said: "It is chilled out, spontaneous, irreverent, has attitude and quintessential Tamil street humour."

The film 3 is itself much anticipated as it brings together the daughters of one-time rivals and now friends Rajinikanth and Kamal Hassan.

Rajinikanth's daughter Aishwarya is director and Hassan's daughter Shruti is acting in the film.

The bosses of the European drug cartel meet in the French Riviera to discuss a new threat emerging from Asia. Don (Shahrukh Khan) is jeopardizing their business because he is able to sell drugs at a much lower price to their customers. The bosses send word out that Don must die. Don has been living in Thailand for the past five years and goes to a remote settlement to pick up a shipment of cocaine. Instead of a normal transaction, Don has to fight his way out because the more powerful European dealers want him dead. He then inexplicable goes back to Malaysia where he surrenders to Roma (Priyanka Chopra) and Inspector Malik (Om Puri). Don is sentenced to death and sent to a Malaysian prison where he meets his old rival Vardhaan (Boman Irani). Don and Vardhaan escape the prison by poisoning all the inmates and go to Zurich, Switzerland, where Don meets his girlfriend and trusted companion, Ayesha (Lara Dutta). In Zurich, they retrieve the contents of a locker only Vardhaan could access. The locker holds a tape that shows Diwan (Aly Khan), the vice president of a Euro printing bank called the DZB, bribing someone to kill a competitor. Don blackmails Diwan into giving him the blueprints to the bank so that he can steal the printing plates. Diwan gives him fake information and hires assassins instead. Don manages to escape and forces the assassins to work for him. Diwan, left with no choice, hands over the real information.

Don and his new team plan a bank robbery and carry out their plan by taking hostages. After stealing the printing plates, Don is betrayed by Vardhaan and his team but manages to escape. However, one of the members, Sameer (Kunal Kapoor), remains loyal to Don. Following Don's plan, he calls the police and Don is captured. Unable to enter the bank and free the hostages, the police are forced to work with Don to get back into the bank in exchange for immunity in Germany. Don and Roma manage to reach Vardhaan but Roma is shot because she refuses to kill Don when told to do so. This gives an idea that Roma still has soft corner for Don, even though he killed her brother five years ago. Don, Vardhaan and his thugs fight and Don manages to defeat them. He then gets his immunity papers and takes Roma to an ambulance. Don and Roma exchange one glance at each other before the ambulance doors close. He later detonates a bomb he planted earlier in Diwan's car. It is revealed that Don actually still has one of the money plates, which the police believe is destroyed in the explosion that kills Diwan. The police cannot do anything as Don has immunity and do not know that Don has a plate. Don also gives the police a disc of all his associates but it is really a disc with the names of the European drug cartel. All the members of the cartel are arrested and Don becomes the king of the European underworld.

Enjoy Movie!
