Let Your Light Shine

2015-12-06T17:34:00.000-07:00

There are those things in our life

that make us sparkle aren't there?

Things that light us up.

That brighten the world around us.

I have friends that bake during stress.

This is their sparkle.

They Shine in a flurry of whisking,

and beating and blending.

They make pies and cookies and cakes.

For Fun.

They decompress by flinging flour,

relax in a frenzy of sugar and baking powder.

A cupcake frosted is their glory.

A perfected red velvet cake

and they are lit up like Clark Griswald.

Cookies whipped up for a potluck...

they're as bright as a hundred foot

twinkling string of lights!

This is uncomprehensible for those

that do not operate in this Zone.

Those of us with a three year old can of

blueberry pie filling in the pantry

and a rotting refrigerated pie crust in the fridge.

Other than the ooohs and aaaws of our consumption

that shine onto our taste buds

and into our growling bellies,

we wonder at their Mojo.

Other people can push themselves physically.

They run races.

Lift weights.

Plank for more than 30 seconds.

These people set goals and knock them out of the park

and when they cross that finish line

their lights radiate

and we bask from our couches

in the glimmer of their victories.

Mmmm and the musicians...

The way their souls are on display.

The shining is through their songs.

We are moved.

That is the Mojo. That is the Zone.

That is the northern light, iridescent,

fiber optic version of lighting up the world around us.

These gifts seem innate.

Whether a drum beating strong,

or an orchestra exploding into the grand finale...

time and setting aside,

our hair stands on end as the music moves us.

If those with baking skills were surrounded

by mere rice and beans

their dishes would still be delicacies.

If the athletic were building mud huts,

we would wonder at their strength.

I think God created us this way,

to shine His light in a darkening world.

The Creator. The original.

And to think that maybe each of us
is a product of His Mojo.

We are the beats to his song...

The fondant creations on His triple layer cake...

The Fakie-Beta-Flip

with a Chinese-Ollie

and a Ghetto-Bird

on a skateboard.

My hope for you this Christmas
is that you would shine your light.
That you would seek to find
The Light Of The World.
And that you might never walk in darkness...

Sooo I got tired of the Facebook...

2015-11-29T01:40:00.000-07:00

Three days into Thanksgiving break

I reached the end of the internet...

decided you guys probably did the same

so maybe I should write again.

Blogging will give me something to do

(other than pinterest fail crafts

with the kids

and making fattening food

for the hunk of a hubby)

and you will have something to read.

Win. Win.

So it has been a while.

Last post was August 10, 2014....

really nothing much has changed.

The

Psycho

(oops I mean cycle)

continues.

Although we did graduate a kid!!

woo hoo VICTORY

I decided to paint again,

and stay home again,

and paint some more.

We got a dog.

My new BFF.

Oscar.

I love him because he is loyal.

He stays up late with me

and follows me to the bathroom.

He puts his foot under mine

when I am cooking...

then yipes as if he is being abused.

We got him thanks to the

Future Farmers of America Club.

They put on a "petting zoo" event

for the elementary school.

Which is actually a code for

"bring all your adorable puppies

to relocate to families

with vulnerable parents

that are unprepared for the

barrage of heart tugging

picture texts of youngest

children holding previously

mentioned dogs."

Sort of like when they have

cute puppies for sale at the edge

of the Walmart parking lot.

Only imagine your car stalled as you

were driving by,

and the people just put the puppy

in your window and ran away.

Confused?

We were too.

But when it was all said

and done,

we were

proud/dazed pet owners.

He is great really though.

Except for a few things

like dog flatulence,

but really.

He is great.

Oscar's presence has created

a new mantra for my life.

"Kids and Dogs"

It fits any situation for me.

Pretty much covers all things.

ie.

The vacuum has been recently utilized

but suddenly there appears:

8 Barbies

7896 legos

2 candy wrappers

a pair of underwear

and the remains of a soccer ball

on the dining room floor.

I say with a martyred sigh...

"kids and dogs

kids

and

dogs"

There needs to be a delivery

to choir practice,

someone needs a pair of socks,

the kitchen is on fire,

and the dog needs out to poop...

"kids and dogs

kids

and

dogs"

See how that works.

Now its midnight.

I have typed out a little update

and when the morning comes

there will be a sweet

six o'clock

pitter patter of my babies

and

a sloppy kiss from the mutt

and I will (joyfully)

awake and (with a smile) murmur

"...kids

and

dogs...

..kids

and

dogs..."

a new leaf 🍃

2014-08-10T13:36:00.000-06:00

Funny how life is like the big old ocean

...sometimes like a calm cool morning with the sun reflecting on a few beautiful ripples

...sometimes crashing into the

rocky shore

threatening to sweep you into the unknown depths.

We have spent the last year rushing

and reading and laughing and griping.

We have had sore throats

and broken water heaters.

We have fought and bickered.

We have stubbed our toes and

hurt each other's feelings.

Our yard has burned up in spots

And we have nearly caught the tree on fire grilling greasy burgers.

There were times at the dinner table

That we gazed into the

constantly evolving

faces of our children

and our hearts practically

exploded with love and pride.

There were ball games

and grade cards.

There were jokes and tricks

And nerf gun wars.

The endless trickle of teenagers and laundry,

Rotten leftovers, and mismatched socks

That added up to the best days...

I am sitting here all sappy.

Thinking back on what has changed

And really pretty much everything has.

I guess it always will and

Thank God for that!!

Wouldn't life be boring

if it always had guarantees

and everything stayed the same??

A couple of weeks ago my baby

(whom I guess isn't technically a baby)

told me how lonely she was...

"Mom, I am lonely,"

she said in words beyond her years,

"Lonely at home, lonely at daycare..."

And my ambitious aggressive entrepreneurial spirit melted like a Popsicle in the summer heat.

I have known it for a while...

That I was pushing too hard.

But it was fun to succeed,

To grow a business,

to be out in the world.

Yet her words cut to the core.

And in moments like that

There are no questions.

I'm wrapping it up for a while.

Finishing the paint jobs on hand

And then returning to the more

Important task at hand...

HOME.

I have started out

A bit idealistically

Imagining calmer days

In a cleaner house

With carefully prepared

Nutritionally balanced meals

Served to politely seated children

Dressed in their

Perfectly groomed clothing

Waiting for a charming

Family communion...

Take today for example...

The goal of

Renewing my faith

In my simplified life

Led me and the kids

To the church down the street.

We were all bathed

(Possibly for the first time this summer)

We were on time

(Probably for the first time...ever)

We sat in the middle pew.

I told Elsa that after the singing

She could have a snack.

So after the end of each song

She shouted out,

"Can I have a snack now?"

I thought it was kinda cute.

But cute turned to whining

Whining created gritted teeth

And choppy whispered threats

And threats turned to time outs

In the foyer after I politely smiled

And directed her out.

Which turned into a march to the car

And gritted-er teeth

And that dissolved rapidly into

A three block march home

In my high heeled summer sandals

With a kicking screaming

Four year old thrown over my shoulder.

So here is to fresh starts,

To idealistic dreaming,

And best of all

to a napping four year old.

Let's pretend it isn't midnight....

2013-05-24T00:00:00.000-06:00

And let's just get started by saying

"HELLO!!! SUMMER VACATION!!"

Which was obviously named such by the principal

YES I AM TALKING TO YOU MRS. HEINZ...

since the school is now SUPER quiet

and the rest of the world

(as in mothers everywhere)

have just entered the

NON.VACATION.ZONE!!!!

My day, in fact,

went something like this:

Get up waaay too late

Throw the babies in a quick bath

(Since school got out a week ago

and they may or may not have been

hosed off since...)

Load the littles in the vinivan for VBS

(Pronounced "Baby-S" by sweet little Elsa)

Gripe at the big kids for primping and sleeping instead of cleaning up after me and the littles

Carry Elsa around on my hip for 3 hours while herding 17 kindergarteners around the church PTL.

Rush home and shove cheese tortillas in their little mouths

Realize I am late for a meeting that I had sent myself a reminder but unfortunately disregarded
as I had misspelled the anacronym to remember it by
Rush to meeting

Rush home

Rush to paint job

Rush home
(all the extra bullets stand for other stuff...
like vacuuming
and brushing my teeth
and checking facebook 89 times
just use your imagination)
Rush to Baby-S Program
(sorry it is just so cute)

Rush home
Decide I am gonna need to get organized
so I go online in search
of a daaaaling printable menu plan
Spend 4 hours looking for one but nothing suits my fancy
Spend 4 hours drawing one myself
Realize I spelled Menu wrong
(so what I was real tired)
Spend 4 hours editing it on the computer
Decide in order to validate my horrendous time management skills, I should write a blog and share it with you.
So Happy Summer "vacation"
to you my friends

May your Menues be

ever beautiful

as you spend your life savings

feeding the children...

The place I call home. AKA Freakshow

2013-02-25T21:21:00.001-07:00

I was gonna go to the city today...

Not the real city city but the

close bigger than hometown city

Ya know with a WalMart.

But there was ice on the road

So I stayed home and instead of painting...

I painted.

My buddy who strangely escapes

her reality by doing fun stuff

like painting under other people's

grungy sinks

Came and helped.

Thank The Lord.

And others had to occupy themselves

Until starvation threatened

And Dad went on a candy run

to the grocery store.

So now it is bedtime

And I am too tired

to get them ready for bed

And when I looked down I was strangely

Holding 7 forks in my hand

Then Miss Elsa brushed my hair

Really roughly and told me that

I look like a snowmobile.

And then there was this:

And if that doesn't give you

A little peek into this here

Freakshow I dunno what to say.

So here is the before and afta of

My forever perfectly perfect

Kitchen cupboards:

And of course I shoved all

the dirty dishes off to the side

For the after shot.

Thank you and goodnight.

OH Hey There!!

2013-02-20T00:38:00.001-07:00

It has only been a month

(or 5)

since I have spent any time on this here bloggy because:

1. The masses in my midst have monopolized every waking second of my life

until recently when they

congruently developed extraordinary selective hearing skills

therefore forcing me once again into the

position of vocalizing

into the vast cyber universe

as my only option for personal validation.

2. Last fall I applied for a class

to develop a business plan.

The opportunity was sponsored through the local community college (NJC) and funded by the El Pomar Foundation.

And woooo hooooo I got selected!

The businesses participating in the program received 6 college credits,

training to develop a business plan,

a chance to win some $$,

and a handy-dandy-notebook...

(translate--> IPAD!!)

3. My addiction to facebook and instagram became all encompassing and I have only began to come to terms with the issue.

And that, my friends is what I have been doing for the past 5 months...

Oh and painting...

Oh and trying to get the IPAD away from the little mongrels that hog it all day until the battery is dead...

Oh and picking up a toy here and there and tossing some clothes in the washer on occasion...

PS. I ended up loving the class and WINNING the $$$ and am so excited that my business is taking off like crazy and I am getting paid to ~~color~~ paint on people's walls!!

So now I am back to the bloggity

using this fancy keyboard

I inherited from my big sista

that makes a perfect little clickity clack.

It wasn't suited to her gargantuan hubby's fingers. (see below)

Oh if I only had long secretary-like fingernails to add to the joy...

So here are some pics to catch u up...

or if you would rather,

I could just keep rambling??!!?

Ok... a bit of both!

Elsa is doing great!! After a few different attempts to fix the growing pressure in her right eye, the doctors put in a tube shunt. This allows the extra fluid in her eye to drain off. Bonus...no more eye drops (for now)! Her vision continues to grow and has far exceeded what the original prognosis entailed. She is SASSY and SWEET and has her own bubbly perspective on life. We are trying to patch her left eye an hour a day to strengthen the muscles in her right one. And it is a little easier now that we have developed some negotiating skills. She wears the patch as long as: she is chewing bubble gum, playing the IPAD, and I am constantly watching her for the ripping off intervention. We are far from perfect, but doing better.

Josi is keeping busy. She is just finishing up her 8th Grade basketball season, perfecting eye-rolling and has strangely disappeared into her room, appearing only to request food or a car ride.

Levi is anxiously waiting his 16th Birthday next month. I'm not suggesting that our house is chaotic or anything but for some reason he seems really eager to be able to just drive away. On his own. By himself.

Milo has been loving preschool and uses bathroom words whenever he doesn't think I am listening. He has started to learn to read and write which is one of the most amazing things to watch in your kid. I love translating his vowel-anemic words like TRNSFRMRS and SBRTTHTGR.

Big Larry and I are just trying to be adults.

OK not really, but the fight against senility is futile so we just roll with it.

Hope today finds you with sunshine in your soul and a smile across your mug.

XoXoXo,

Holly

Been Painting

2012-09-18T15:42:00.000-06:00

Whew.

Summer? Over.

And where did it go?

Most of my days were spent

with a brush in my hand

and paint in my hair!

It has been a whirlwind,

with lots of green frog tape

and tons of friends in the making.

My sidekick Sara

got suckered into the madness

and we have been loving

brightening up walls.

Here is a "summer-ization"

of a few of the things

we have been up too!!

To keep up on our projects,

Like us on Facebook!!

2.

2012-06-10T21:51:00.001-06:00

Today my baby turned 2.
Two.
Can't believe it.
We celebrated yesterday
So today was more like operation recovery.
We laid around.
Most stayed pajama-ed all day.
We played with the loot from yesterdays hullaballoo
And munched on daddy's fine cookin.
Milo was puny last night so we skipped church
And sometimes home is just as good for the soul.

in total avoidance.

2012-05-18T23:08:00.000-06:00

I have no point here.

Actually I am avoiding doing

what I oughtta be doing

and in the scope of things

this seems way more fun

and I can pretend that

it is really important.

So first things first...

Not being much of a cereal gal myself

{OK so at one point I did live on cheerios

everyday for a half a millennium}

I don't usually like the

sugary junk.

But yesterday I discovered this treasure in the bare cupboard.

Yes that is

marshmallows

AAAND

Cocoa puffies

in the same bowl

from the same bag.

{and yes I did eat it}

{and yes I did have two bowls}

{and yes I liked it so much I texted a

picture to my sister}

The kids are so happy when Dad does the shopping.

Which has been lots

lately because with my

pea brain, comes some

involuntary half concussions

where I suddenly forget

that it is my responsibility

to shop...

or cook

for that matter.

And now that I look back over the last day or two I am a little concerned.

Wait a second....

we did eat blueberries.

I remember now cuz Elsa called them Bluebabies....

Whew that was a close one.

Mostly lately we have been lounging outside.

{Thinking up ways to kill the commune of nasty

millers that live in our big trees.

Grrrrr.

Don't even get me started...}

And playing in our pool and sandbox.

Oh and I have been slightly obsessing over an upcoming wedding for my niece.

{this picture is for you Liz}

And redecorating

Milo and Elsa's room.

In which I cussed those that had wallpapered before us.

And swore I would NEVER apply that monstrosity...

And promptly mod podged a half of a dictionary to the wall.

I did however make a pact with myself

that I would also be the

one to remove it

sometime down the road.

{But don't quote me on that}

The children have braved the last few days of school.

{uninjured by their grouchy mother, I might add}

And tomorrow I will ship

them all away to

their grammy and pappy.

for a week.

{don't know quite whether to snivel or hollar}

So here we come summer.

{and here I go...

back to the real reason I sat down at the computer

in the first place}

XOXOXOXOXO,

holly

Well hello there...

2012-04-30T15:18:00.000-06:00

I know I have been AWAL.

It's true.

I'm sorry.

But for a month my oldest kid has been

Driving me. Crazy.

No Really. It's True.

I know I don't look old enough

but let's face it I was a child bride.

So I have been carted around

in the passenger's seat

and have decided to take full advantage.

One outing I made him drive me

2 hours to

You know, he needed Interstate experience.

Another day I made him tote me around

with my long lost camera.

I never just get to go on a treasure hunt

for good pics...

and we spotted some doozies!

Poor Elsa isn't as thrilled as I am with

these outings.

She HATES her carseat.

She swims against it like something is

just holding her down.

I always say "Relax, Elsa!"

So the other day Daddy gets in the car

and she pipes up from the back...

"Relax, Daddy!"

Betty Barf-up

2012-03-14T20:40:00.000-06:00

Early the other morning Elsa wanted to swing.

Rather than finding shoes, socks, sweatshirts, coats, mittens, hats.........

My mind raced for an alternative....

hmmm....a swing without the park....

out pops the good ol' jenny-jump-up!!!

It was magic!! Happy Day!!!

Fasty Forward to later that night.

Mr. Milo needed some one on one mama time

and Elsa was beggin for the "swing."

I gave in and made everybody happy.

After Milo beat me at a looong game of Toy Story Memory,

(I wish I could say that I let him win)

I took Elsa out of the jumper.

She seemed thirsty...

swallowing in a strange way.

But when I held up the cup for water

she shoved my hand away and did

what anyone sane would do after

an eternally long winding and unwinding episode...

she hurled.

Live and learn...right?

So now we set the timer.

and now she doesn't seem to spin around as much.

And Jenny Jump-up has a new name...

Betty Barf-up

and I am going for mom of the year.

I am an addict.

2012-03-11T19:06:00.000-06:00

They say the first step in recovery is admitting you have a problem.

I HAVE A PROBLEM.

It is this website......

APARTMENT THERAPY.

I. cannot. stay. away.

It is my mostest favorite website on earth.

Who can resist looking at rooms like this:

(look at more black and white stripes HERE)

Yummy.

Or links to DIY's like this:

(wanna make it?? look HERE)

Don't this make ya wanna have another baby????

Just to decorate like this...

(check it out HERE)

and I loooove the before and after shots....

AND

Bookmark it baby.

Apartment Therapy Rocks.

xxoxox

blame it on the moon....

2012-03-09T18:20:00.000-07:00

Did you see the moon last night???

My hubby called us outside

to watch it rise...

WOW.

Things have been ~~a tad bit busy~~

complete chaos.

It got so hectic that both the

vacuum and dish washer

went on strike.

Don't think they could take it anymore.

We had a week of puny babies.

Poor tots had fevers

and just hung around.

my. neck.

I almost lost what little mind

sloshes around in this pea brain.

A.D.D. doesn't sit well.

Regardless of my inabilities

as their mother,

the kiddos survived...

or at least I

think

they

are

ok..

????

What?

Do they look traumatized???

PICTURES!!! THIS BLABBY BLOG NEEDS PICTURES!!!!

2012-02-07T00:46:00.000-07:00

these two are getting to be the bestest of buddies...
and the wooliest of warriors!

So many sunshiney days it was starting to not feel like winter.

Until this weekend.

We took down Elsa's crib and got her a big girl bed.
This is how things looked for a week...at least!

Ain't it great to be CRAZY????

The Hank Picture that didn't upload during my sleep deprived post.

And in my spare time I drill holes in 22 shells raided from Levi's room
and hook them onto rusty washers raided from Grandpa's shop.
Why ask why??

Also in my spare time I have been doing baby bleacher aerobics
while watching this girl in these shoes race down the basketball court.
My camera cannot handle the lighting or chaos of such situations
so this is the only shot I've got.

In her spare moments, she covers her ears while I boss her around,
runs away when she isn't supposed to,
and melts my heart with her sweet little smiles.

too tired to think of a title. ok. goodnight.

2012-01-29T23:06:00.000-07:00

It is late.
I should be in bed.
It is sooo quiet though.
Something tells me I need to get a life.
I spent two looong days painting a rental house
and it felt like a vacation.
That's not right....

In other Random news:

Hank Williams Jr. went with us to church this morning.
He didn't like being called Hank.
But I thought there was a strong resemblance.

So he is not Hank. Just Milo.

My brain is starting to freeze up like a 3 year old computer.

Goodnight.

my smart phone suffers from domestic violence...

2012-01-17T14:55:00.000-07:00

My man got me a smart phone for my birthday.

It is getting me organized.

It has a calendar.

A list.

A list for lists.

A journal that you can slap in a picture and write a little ditty.

A camera to take those snappy pics,

and even a video camera to catch the fights and show the

children how ugly it is to argue.

(Even though they are really only fighting for their mother's attention

and the casting away of the little black screen that has morphed her into a complete zombie)

So I have been a little distracted by this new miracle.

ok.

obsessed might be a better word.

But I am beginning to wonder if it is really as "smart" as it should be.

See, on New Year's Day, I hosted the family Christmas.

Realize this was just a few weeks after I got this dandy contraption.

So I figured I would make a few lists to get ready.

The problem is that I have ogre thumbs that constantly bonk out the wrong words on the delicate touch screen.

We will not go into details on some of the boo boos that I have written,

but in order to avoid these faux pas, I decided to give the voice command a try.

After all, wouldn't it be lovely to just boss something around without rolling eyes?

I had a few things down on the list already.

Even a few crossed off.

It looked like this.

trim nails...what? I have approximately 120 of the buggers to keep track of, you would write it down too...
Fold laundry...SURPRISE!!
Table Decorations...If you know my mother you know that this is the whole point of even having company.
Set up Tables
Make Potatoes
Make Spiced Apple Cider...Remind me to give you the recipe. YUMMY.
Mop Floors
Clean Bathrooms.

And then began the voice commands:

ME: thaw turkey

Phone: Song Cherokee

ME: thaw turkey

Phone: Contact 30

ME: thaw turkey

Phone: Knockouts turkey

ME: THaw TURkey

Phone: The Turkey

ME: ok we are getting closer...

thAW TURkey

Phone: Dog Sharks

ME (yelling):THAW TURKEY

Phone: Tempe.

ME (yelling with a British accent):

THAW TURKEY!!!

Phone: Bloc Party.

ME (yelling with a British accent wacking my phone on the table): THAW TURKEY YOU STUPID PHONE!!!

Phone: Hi Sexy.

I am not kidding.

Maybe it is smart after all.

Enough said.

golly what a day

2012-01-04T23:36:00.001-07:00

Around Christmas I bought a new

package of sharpies.

Been filling up my sketch pad

getting some valentine

ideas a rollin.

You could just call me

doodle-holly-doodle-holly

doodle-all-the-day.

now i have this stuck in my head:

Mmmmm hhmmm.

I do love Roger Miller.

butanyways...

back to the doodling.

Have you ever gone to picnik.com?

It is really fun to upload a doodle

and play around with it.

So now you have no excuses.

Leave the dishes.

Forget the laundry.

Who cares if you have

cheerio carpet in your kitchen.

You have important things to do...

You know,

Life Changing Things.

Editing Doodles.

cartoon with a blind girl

2012-01-02T15:45:00.000-07:00

We are in a vegetative state around here.

Recovering from the

inhalation of too much deliciousness and the

over-stimulation of holiday fellowship.

So today I let Milo watch a movie.

He loves cowboys and horses so he picked

this new one on Netflix.

Although on the cheesy side,

the cartoon was a good representation of

some of the assumptions most of us hold

about those with visual impairments.

It is divided up into 3 YouTube videos.

Happy New Year.

2011-12-21T11:47:00.002-07:00

DO NOT FOLLOW THE LINK!

2011-12-14T14:14:00.000-07:00

We r puny.

Strep throat among the ranks.

I took an antibiotic from the jar of emergency a.d.d. leftover pills from previous issues.

Well, don't you have those?
They give you a jar of 86 pills...
take three times a day for the next millennium
and who can always keep focused that long.

I woke up in the middle of the night
feeling better until some sort of
germaphobe anxiety attack crept
into my pea brain.
I could not go back to sleep
imagining all of those
nasty streptococcal bugs
having a party all over my house.

It was so disturbing that I got up
and put a few of my blankies in the wash.

Speaking of disturbing,
if you are brave look at this.
(DO NOT FOLLOW THE LINK)
but beware because I regretted googling images of Strep Throat.
(I REPEAT DO NOT FOLLOW THE LINK)

Sorry.
You couldn't resist could you?
EEEEW I only glanced for one second before I made the link.
Again Sorry.

Ahem.
Yuck.

So I cranked open all of the windows as soon as I got outta bed.
Threw Milo under a pile of blankets
and gave him the remote.
Put on Elsa's snowboots and mittens,
And declared WAR ON STREP!

My new best friend Clorox
danced with me through the house,
and everybody got clean bedding.

Then we got our internal weapons
aka amoxicillion.
Our town just got a new pop machine at the hospital,
aka instimeds.

You just type in the
numbers for your prescription and
clunk...
clunk...
bonk...
out drops your meds.

I have been there three days
in a row as there are so many subjects in my charge.

And yes,Mom, I got a real prescription for me too.

The people that work at the hospital are looking at me funny.
Thinking "oh there is that junkie with all of her snot nosed kids."

So hopefully we have
got this thing about whipped.
We are thawing out now with the afternoon sun shining through our closed windows and the heater blasting fresh clean air.

Hope those little streppies
have learned not to mess with me
or my babies.

PS. comment if you looked at the link!

P.M.S.

gonna be real honest here.

i am in the depths of it.

i once asked the Dr. if,

for the sake of the children,

there was anything he could give me

for this little problem.

He said,

and i quote,

"Watch what you eat and exercise

and just have some self control."

OK. and thanks a million.

now stay with me here...

i gotta run and check on elsa,

i hear the beeping of my cell phone and

i gotta see who she is randomly dialing...

Ok. i am back.

and to whoever she called,

please don't mistake that for

a heavy breathing prank call.

Dang caller-ID anyways.

Sooo...

Back to PMS...

(Isn't that the way it always goes?)

Well, ok. i will exercise.

So i set my alarm for 5:30.

A good hour before anybody gets up.

For three days i sweat and bounce

my flabby self

along on the treadmill

with no incidents like this mind you.

But on the fourth day it happens.

Alarm goes off.

i hit snooze and have the back and forth

bantering self talk about

how after yesterday

sleep would be more productive than exercise

in the analysis of self preservation.

And just the time the health enthusiast

in me wins the argument,

I hear something from afar...

MAMA!...MAMA!...MAMA!

EAT!...MILK!...UP!

seriously.

baby radar.

every. single. time.

Alright I guess if I can't exercise to fix this issue...

I will watch what I eat.

So I watch it.

I eat everything in sight.

and I watch it go into my mouth.

Still no changes.

I think that Dr. needs to take

some refresher courses.

In the lab

2011-12-09T09:47:00.000-07:00

Been spending lots of

time in the Laboratory.

Sewing tags for my sister's new store,

Calamity Pass Trading Company.

Sorting Crayons and Markers.

Removing chewed up crayons from the traps of certain green toothed individuals.

Breaking up battles over paper and table space.

Labeling all of my junk so I can recover quicker from my creative tornado issues.

Making crap out of feathers and leather and whatever else I uncover in my stash.

Enjoying the company of whatever

kid decides to sit for a bit.

And loving watching their own

creativity blossom.

mess with mama = TROUBLE!

2011-12-07T11:47:00.000-07:00

We have been busy.

Crazy busy.

Well maybe just crazy

because when I sit back and think about it,

I can't even remember what we have done.

Josi and I spent the better part of one day playing cards.

We had a little bet thing going on.

If you lose....

well just watch the video.

And you might have to turn your head to the side because

although I can whip anyone except my sister Amy

at a game of Spit,

I don't know how to hold a camera!

There was NO way I was gonna lose!

And no Josi wasn't really crying and yes she herself set the stakes!

Doncha be messin' with the Mama!
