Projects are starting to take off with some really great ideas! This week, we would like to spotlight Laura Ingalls Wilder Intermediate School for a fantastic job on their wiki page! Here is a snippet of their poem about the project:

"Our school is named for Laura Ingalls Wilder, who wrote the Little House books and more,
we're not sure what this project holds for us,
or for what we are in store.
We are brave 5th graders in a 5th and 6th campus
in a small town named Schertz in the Lone Star State,
we can't wait to tackle these projects
and share different issues for debate."

To read the full poem, go visit their wiki page at:
http://projectlemonade.wikispaces.com/-Laura+Ingalls

It looks like Laura Ingalls Wilder is about to undertake their communities problem. And I think to myself that I could never be put in a position like that. What I mean is I could never make such an impact like these people. Martin Luther King: he changed the world's outlook on equal rights. Oprah Winfrey: she's providing education and a better life for children in a third world country. These people are famous! MY question is this: What does it take to make a difference? What do I have to do to make an impact? If you have a response, please tell us!
To make a donation the Alex's Lemonade Stand, please visit, http://www.alexslemonade.org/

Dr. Martin Luther King

Project Lemonade salutes Dr. Martin Luther King for his courageous efforts in his fight for equal rights. If you are interested, please refer to the registration at http://projectlemonade.wikispaces.com/
This is a collaborative project with the Lower Merion School District in Ardmore, PA, and classrooms around the globe. Inspired by the true story of Alex Scott, Project Lemonade was started to get kids to think about how they can make a difference in the world. When faced with her biggest challenge, Alex decided to start a lemonade stand to raise money for cancer research. Alex's Lemonade Stand has drawn national attention, and has raised millions of dollars for pediatric cancer research.

This project will encompass the participation of classrooms all over the world. A 5 month long project duration will enable classrooms to connect , whenever, wherever. 5 videoconference events will take place to connect kids from other countries and cultures. Through videoconferencing, blogging, and a wiki, students will work together to solve real problems in their own school, community, country, and the world. Students will debate, discuss, and generate questions based on essential questions that will drive the project. The project will culminate with a product to be shared via Ex: video, podcast, etc. This project is about real world problems and how we deal with them.

The BIG Ideas:
How can kids make a difference?
When life hands "you" lemons, what will "you" do?
Is better working alone or in groups?
How do we solve problems?
To make a donation the Alex's Lemonade Stand, please visit, http://www.alexslemonade.org/

Getting Started

Inspired by the true story of Alex Scott, the Project Lemonade was started to get kids to think about how they can make a difference in the world. Alex's Lemonade Stand has gained national attention, and has raised millions of dollars for pediatric Cancer Research.
