2012-03-22T16:23:00.000-07:00

As mentioned on Mafia Wars Loot Lady, a mysterious item appeared in the inventory - a mastery reward from the 'Slainte' event.

Luck of the Irish

Here's a few more items from this upcoming or canceled event.

Leprechaun

Emerald Mamba

Unframing Again

2012-03-21T03:02:00.002-07:00

Nothing new here, but as Zynga has changed the game to be slightly harder to unframe, I thought it was worth mentioning FrameExt again. If you use Firefox, this will allow you to run your scripts in a framed window:

FrameExt - An alternative to unframing in Firefox

If you really want to unframe, you should check out the following post on Mafia Wars Loot Lady:

UnFrame Workaround

Zynga'd

2011-09-13T16:49:00.000-07:00

Mafia Wars is an absolute mess today. A mission glitch involving treasure chest keys has given a few lucky players thousands of free reward points. All you needed was to be playing at the right time. Rumor has it that there will be some kind of roll back, but I'm skeptical. Firstly, nothing was done about the precious gems glitch. Secondly it gets complicated when you consider that many of the points are already spent, and the glitch was entirely Zynga's fault (as usual). Now, a new epic boss fight appears, and just as we are about to finish it, they remove the whole thing. Oh, and Atlantic City disappears with no warning, and no reasonable explanation.

Two Free Points!

2011-08-29T09:30:00.001-07:00

Just like last week, there are two points available for Monday! Make sure you get them both.

1 Energy: http://zyn.ga/8OM from the Mafia Wars Fan Page

and...

1 Attack: http://zyn.ga/80d from the Zynga Fan Page

Double Fan Blasts!

2011-08-22T03:03:00.000-07:00

I don't usually cover these, because MW Loot Lady does a perfectly good job. However, Zynga has started sharing a second link every Monday, so here are both links for today.

1 Stamina: http://zyn.ga/80c
1 Health: http://zyn.ga/8OF

Enjoy! :)

Random Stuff

2011-08-04T14:37:00.000-07:00

Sometimes, I wonder why I play this game.

Today, I've watched the fallout from the war loot rollback. Something that has done nothing to solve the problems of wars being over too soon, but has annoyed many honest players. That didn't annoy me too much (except for my behaviour being deemed "abnormal"). Was anyone at Zynga actually listening to the complaints? The majority were about how wars were over too soon.

Then the Raven boss fight popped up. I had a full eight hours, and I spent pretty much all of them fighting. I iced over 1,500 opponents, and I got 4 extra sniper shots for my efforts. Did anyone actually test the fix that increased the drop rate by 3?

Finally, there's rumours of a new city coming soon. This is good, but please fix Brazil - precious gems still do not drop from robbing, and there was supposed to be 3 new collections...

So, where is the Assassin?

2011-07-07T16:58:00.000-07:00

I don't know what happened to the assassin boss (also known as "The Raven"). But it looks like he's been shopping. Does this mean we will get random rewards when he returns?

Assassin's Ride

Assassin's Rifle

Assassin's Pet

ps. on the topic of new items - I could not find any evidence of any new fight club loot.

Free Skill Point

2011-06-26T05:53:00.000-07:00

Here is today's free point (it's a skill point). I haven't seen it posted anywhere, which makes me wonder if Zynga just forgot today:

http://tinyurl.com/MafiaSecrets1SkillPoint

More Brazil Items

2011-06-10T15:32:00.000-07:00

With a new set of missions and three extra days to master Staten Island, there is still some time to speculate on upcoming Brazil items. As we already have new items in the city store, these ones most likely drop while doing jobs. Again, no stats are available, as these items do not yet appear in the inventory.

Amazon River Cruiser

Atelid Monkey

Baird's Tapir

Corroded Combat Knife

Fur Seal

Set of Mosquito Pinners

Smoke Squadron Fighter

Three-Banded Armadillo

As usual, the Mafia Wars artists have done a great job!

Brazil Districts 6 - 8

2011-06-09T15:30:00.000-07:00

With any luck, the final chapters of Brazil will appear this weekend. Hopefully without one of those ridiculous "slow roll outs". The mastery items don't seem to be listed anywhere yet, so here they are (sorry, I don't have the stats, but expect them to be good).

District 6 - Jangada

District 7 - Machete Dance Prop

District 8 - Margay

Atlantic City Chapter 0

2011-05-08T14:18:00.000-07:00

This is something interesting I found the other day, I almost forgot about it, but a recent post about Atlantic City on MW Loot Lady reminded me about it. I thought it might just be the solution for people who are stuck there. For anyone who is not stuck, you'll probably still find the bit about "Chapter 0" interesting :)

Go here to play Atlantic City unframed:

http://m.mafiawars.com/mobileweb?iframe=1

Now, use the following to travel to the different chapters (and leave a comment if this gets you unstuck):

Chapter 1: Uptown

javascript:(function(){loadPage('mobileweb?xw_controller=StoryMobile&xw_action=view&iframe=1&storyId=10')})()

Chapter 2: Broadwalk

javascript:(function(){loadPage('mobileweb?xw_controller=StoryMobile&xw_action=view&iframe=1&storyId=11')})()

Chapter 3: South Jersey

javascript:(function(){loadPage('mobileweb?xw_controller=StoryMobile&xw_action=view&iframe=1&storyId=12')})()

Chapter 4: Camden County

javascript:(function(){loadPage('mobileweb?xw_controller=StoryMobile&xw_action=view&iframe=1&storyId=13')})()

Chapter 0: ???

javascript:(function(){loadPage('mobileweb?xw_controller=StoryMobile&xw_action=view&iframe=1&storyId=9')})()

Notice that although the screen shot says "1: Uptown", the jobs are different, and quite possibly you will be able to master them for skill points. There's six jobs there, so you may be able to get 24 skill points. Please note, I take no responsibility for anyone getting stuck in Atlantic City (only for getting you unstuck) :)

FrameExt - An alternative to unframing in Firefox

2011-04-27T03:01:00.000-07:00

Unframing is essential for running most bookmarklets. Sometimes Zynga or Facebook decide to change something and it breaks. Recently, I've had some trouble with popup windows not appearing when unframed.

FrameExt is a Firefox extension that I've found useful. It allows you to run bookmarklets on the Mafia Wars frame, but without unframing it.

Download and install the Firefox addon from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/frameext/ (you will need to restart Firefox to complete the installation).

Copy the link of whatever bookmarklet you want to use. For example, here is Operation-a-nator, from Spockholm Mafia Tools.

Right click somewhere in the Mafia Wars frame. Choose "This Frame", "Change Frame URL" (this is the new option provided by FrameExt).

A popup will appear, paste in the bookmarklet link.

The bookmarklet should run, just as if you were unframed.

Ancient Relic Event - Coming soon!

2011-02-17T04:41:00.000-08:00

Three new items are on their way to the gifting page. Most likely it will be another collection event, because right now, they turn into mystery bags with the following message:

You can use the same script that was posted previously, but enter one of the following numbers:

447 - Mayan Calendar
448 - Leopard Tooth
449 - Inca Mask

1) Unframe Mafia Wars
2) Paste this into your address bar:

javascript:(function()%7Bvar%20i%3Dprompt('Gift%20Linker%20v0.5%20(mafiasecrets.blogspot.com)%5Cn%5CnEnter%20a%20Gift%20ID'%2C404)%3Bif(i)%7B%24.post('http%3A%2F%2Ffacebook.mafiawars.com%2Fmwfb%2Fremote%2Fhtml_server.php%3Fxw_controller%3Drequests%26xw_action%3Dfriend_selector%26req_controller%3Dfreegifts%26free_gift_cat%3D1%26free_gift_id%3D'%2Bi%2C%7B'sf_xw_user_id'%3A%2Fsf_xw_user_id%3D(%5Ba-z%5D%5C%7C%5B0-9%5D%2B)%2F.exec(document.body.innerHTML)%5B1%5D%2C'sf_xw_sig'%3Alocal_xw_sig%2C'ajax'%3A'1'%2C'liteload'%3A'1'%7D%2Cfunction(data)%7Bvar%20t%3D%2Fcontent%3D%22(.%2B)%3Cfb%3Areq-choice%20url%3D'(http.%2B)'%20label%3D%26quot%3B(.%2B)%26quot%3B%20.%3E%2F.exec(data)%3B%24.getJSON('http%3A%2F%2Fjson-tinyurl.appspot.com%2F%3F%26callback%3D%3F'%2C%7Burl%3At%5B2%5D%7D%2Cfunction(data)%7Bprompt(t%5B1%5D%2Cdata.tinyurl)%7D)%3B%7D)%3B%7D%7D)()

Here's what they look like, good work Zynga art team!

Free Health Point

2011-01-26T05:51:00.000-08:00

Today, Zynga gives us a free health point on the Mafia Wars Fan Page. Unfortunately, the link is wrong (it's the same as yesterday's stamina point).

Here is the correct link for today:

http://apps.facebook.com/inthemafia/track.php?next_controller=index&next_action=fan_blast&id=95

Three more Items

2011-01-25T05:03:00.000-08:00

Bullet Concerto - Weapon

Worst Nightmare - Animal (Reminds me of World of Warcraft)

Zynga RewardVille - The Rewards

2011-01-19T10:14:00.000-08:00

Zynga's RewardVille is coming with it's unified game currency called zCoins. You can already preview the site here:

http://rewards.zynga.com

If you are curious about the rewards, they have been floating around the internet for a few weeks. You can use this script to get detailed information. Just go to http://rewards.zynga.com and paste it into the address bar:

Seven New Items

2011-01-19T05:47:00.000-08:00

There are some mysterious new items appearing on the Mafia Wars servers. Anyone know where they are from?

The Fates - Armor?

Duality - Weapon

Snowy Owl - Animal

Splint Greaves - Armor

Breath of Fresh Air - Vehicle

Thresher Shark - Animal

Chrome Essence - Vehicle

Currently, they are not appearing in the inventory, so I don't know what kind of stats they might have.

Update on Rare Operation Loot

2011-01-13T03:33:00.000-08:00

Yesterday I posted that I wasn't seeing any rare operation loot. I'm currently of the opinion that there is a daily limit on rare loot. This morning, it was dropping fine, until I got 7 rare loots (I may have also got some from feed rewards, so I'm going to guess there may be a daily limit of 10 rare loots).

Operation Loot Nerfed?

2011-01-12T08:16:00.000-08:00

Okay, this has been bugging me for the last few days. I've done quite a few operations since they've been released, so I have a rough idea just how rare items such as the Grim Reaper and Z17 Micro are.

Take a look at the loot I got just now (not sure exactly how many operations I did, but most were Transport Stolen Uranium - the most common operation, and also the one that should drop Grim Reapers and Z17 Micros).

Usually, I would have expected at least a couple of rare loots from that. But for the last few days, I've hardly see anything good! Has anyone else noticed this?

Southlander (expired)

2010-12-22T04:27:00.000-08:00

Another mysterious new item! The Southlander has average stats of 43 attack and 30 defense.

You can use the same script that was posted for Pignatas, but enter gift number 430.

1) Unframe Mafia Wars
2) Paste this into your address bar:

javascript:(function()%7Bvar%20i%3Dprompt('Gift%20Linker%20v0.5%20(mafiasecrets.blogspot.com)%5Cn%5CnEnter%20a%20Gift%20ID'%2C404)%3Bif(i)%7B%24.post('http%3A%2F%2Ffacebook.mafiawars.com%2Fmwfb%2Fremote%2Fhtml_server.php%3Fxw_controller%3Drequests%26xw_action%3Dfriend_selector%26req_controller%3Dfreegifts%26free_gift_cat%3D1%26free_gift_id%3D'%2Bi%2C%7B'sf_xw_user_id'%3A%2Fsf_xw_user_id%3D(%5Ba-z%5D%5C%7C%5B0-9%5D%2B)%2F.exec(document.body.innerHTML)%5B1%5D%2C'sf_xw_sig'%3Alocal_xw_sig%2C'ajax'%3A'1'%2C'liteload'%3A'1'%7D%2Cfunction(data)%7Bvar%20t%3D%2Fcontent%3D%22(.%2B)%3Cfb%3Areq-choice%20url%3D'(http.%2B)'%20label%3D%26quot%3B(.%2B)%26quot%3B%20.%3E%2F.exec(data)%3B%24.getJSON('http%3A%2F%2Fjson-tinyurl.appspot.com%2F%3F%26callback%3D%3F'%2C%7Burl%3At%5B2%5D%7D%2Cfunction(data)%7Bprompt(t%5B1%5D%2Cdata.tinyurl)%7D)%3B%7D)%3B%7D%7D)()

When asked for a gift ID, enter 430.

What's interesting about this item?

Firstly, you can only accept 5 per day. I don't know why, the stats are nothing special. Maybe all gifts are going to be limited in the future?

Secondly, there is a TNT symbol in the top corner, so maybe it's somehow linked to a special event.

Reserve Chute (expired)

2010-12-21T09:53:00.000-08:00

New Item! Not exactly sure what it's for yet. Maybe for the new missions (none have appeared for me yet).

You can use the same script that was posted for Pignatas, but enter gift number 428.

1) Unframe Mafia Wars
2) Paste this into your address bar:

javascript:(function()%7Bvar%20i%3Dprompt('Gift%20Linker%20v0.5%20(mafiasecrets.blogspot.com)%5Cn%5CnEnter%20a%20Gift%20ID'%2C404)%3Bif(i)%7B%24.post('http%3A%2F%2Ffacebook.mafiawars.com%2Fmwfb%2Fremote%2Fhtml_server.php%3Fxw_controller%3Drequests%26xw_action%3Dfriend_selector%26req_controller%3Dfreegifts%26free_gift_cat%3D1%26free_gift_id%3D'%2Bi%2C%7B'sf_xw_user_id'%3A%2Fsf_xw_user_id%3D(%5Ba-z%5D%5C%7C%5B0-9%5D%2B)%2F.exec(document.body.innerHTML)%5B1%5D%2C'sf_xw_sig'%3Alocal_xw_sig%2C'ajax'%3A'1'%2C'liteload'%3A'1'%7D%2Cfunction(data)%7Bvar%20t%3D%2Fcontent%3D%22(.%2B)%3Cfb%3Areq-choice%20url%3D'(http.%2B)'%20label%3D%26quot%3B(.%2B)%26quot%3B%20.%3E%2F.exec(data)%3B%24.getJSON('http%3A%2F%2Fjson-tinyurl.appspot.com%2F%3F%26callback%3D%3F'%2C%7Burl%3At%5B2%5D%7D%2Cfunction(data)%7Bprompt(t%5B1%5D%2Cdata.tinyurl)%7D)%3B%7D)%3B%7D%7D)()

When asked for a gift ID, enter 428.

Return of the Pignatas! (expired)

2010-12-17T10:05:00.000-08:00

I never got the grand prize from the original Pignatas, so I was happy to discover that they are finally giftable again. Super Pignatas are also still giftable. Every day, you should aim to get five of each gift.

You can use the following script to make tinyurls for your mafia, then they can send you back some lovely piggies.

1) Unframe Mafia Wars
2) Paste this into your address bar:

javascript:(function()%7Bvar%20i%3Dprompt('Gift%20Linker%20v0.5%20(mafiasecrets.blogspot.com)%5Cn%5CnEnter%20a%20Gift%20ID'%2C404)%3Bif(i)%7B%24.post('http%3A%2F%2Ffacebook.mafiawars.com%2Fmwfb%2Fremote%2Fhtml_server.php%3Fxw_controller%3Drequests%26xw_action%3Dfriend_selector%26req_controller%3Dfreegifts%26free_gift_cat%3D1%26free_gift_id%3D'%2Bi%2C%7B'sf_xw_user_id'%3A%2Fsf_xw_user_id%3D(%5Ba-z%5D%5C%7C%5B0-9%5D%2B)%2F.exec(document.body.innerHTML)%5B1%5D%2C'sf_xw_sig'%3Alocal_xw_sig%2C'ajax'%3A'1'%2C'liteload'%3A'1'%7D%2Cfunction(data)%7Bvar%20t%3D%2Fcontent%3D%22(.%2B)%3Cfb%3Areq-choice%20url%3D'(http.%2B)'%20label%3D%26quot%3B(.%2B)%26quot%3B%20.%3E%2F.exec(data)%3B%24.getJSON('http%3A%2F%2Fjson-tinyurl.appspot.com%2F%3F%26callback%3D%3F'%2C%7Burl%3At%5B2%5D%7D%2Cfunction(data)%7Bprompt(t%5B1%5D%2Cdata.tinyurl)%7D)%3B%7D)%3B%7D%7D)()

When asked for a gift ID, enter one of the following:

424 - Pignata
180 - Super Pignata
423 - Time Capsule

You should get a popup like this (note that our script now includes tinyurl support, so you can paste the link directly to Facebook):

Get some Bonus Payments

2010-12-02T08:13:00.000-08:00

1) Unframe Mafia Wars
2) Paste this into your address bar:

javascript:(function(){showMysteryDropFriendSelector();})()

Vegas property collection boosts

The previous tip also works for properties in Las Vegas.

1) Unframe Mafia Wars
2) Go to your Casino in Las Vegas
3) Paste this into your address bar:

javascript:(function(){shareCollectItem(5);})()

Note that the script is slightly different (5 is Vegas, 6 is Italy).
