STEP I. Data Back up

One is next to your brain these days .it holds plethora of data including personal and professional which if lost will give you dent equivalent to memory loss. So take the data backup possibly both on hard drive or on cloud/dropbox or so.

STEP II. Remove the SD card :

Understand the PAN (Permanent Account Number)

PAN Card is : Permanent Account Number (PAN) is unique alphanumeric combination issued to all juristic entities identifiable under the Indian Income Tax Act 1961. It is issued by the Indian Income Tax Department under the supervision of the Central Board for Direct Taxes (CBDT) and is almost equivalent to a national identification number. It also serves as an important ID proof.

WHY YOU SHOULD OWN A PAN CARD (Some not so obvious reasons )

Bank Fixed Deposits: If you open a fixed deposit with your bank for an amount exceeding Rs. 50,000, a copy of PAN card needs to be given. In absence of PAN, the bank will deduct TDS of 20% or at the prevailing rate, whichever is higher (instead of the normal 10%). Further, the bank will not issue TDS certificate. Form 15G/15H and other exemption certificates will be invalid in this case. Payment in Hotels and Restaurants: You may asked to submit a copy of your PAN if you pay cash in hotels or restaurants against bills for an amount exceeding Rs. 25,000

Payment to Travel Agents: Cash payment more than Rs. 25,000 for travel to any foreign country (fare or purchase of foreign currency) in a single payment requires you to produce your PAN copy

It is seen that quoting or producing a copy of your PAN card is compulsory in practically every money transaction, and not restricted to Income Tax dealings. The significance of PAN cannot be questioned as this has become the primary document sought in all important legitimate dealings.

What it Means

PAN is a 10 digit alpha numeric number, where the first 5 characters are letters, the next 4 numbers and the last one a letter again. These 10 characters can be divided in five parts as can be seen below. The meaning of each number has been explained further.

1. First three characters are alphabetic series running from AAA to ZZZ
2. Fourth character of PAN represents the status of the PAN holder.
• C — Company
• P — Person
• H — HUF(Hindu Undivided Family)
• F — Firm
• A — Association of Persons (AOP)
• T — AOP (Trust)
• B — Body of Individuals (BOI)
• L — Local Authority
• J — Artificial Juridical Person
• G — Government
3. Fifth character represents first character of the PAN holder’s last name/surname.
4. Next four characters are sequential number running from 0001 to 9999.
5. Last character in the PAN is an alphabetic check digit.

Embedding font with document (Making hindi document read every where)

All those people who work in multiple languages often face an issue when we type a document on our system it is working fine but when the same document goes to some other system it shows some gibberish stuff which no one can make sense of

SO a temporary solution which I often used to follow was to make the document as pdf so at least the font will not vary and person on other end will be able to read it all at ease. But then its limitation is that no edits are possible

So the another fix I found was to email the folder of fonts to with the email of such file with instructions to place the fonts in their system but then this process is not only tiring but also time consuming and requires a basic understanding of system

And more then any thing the above two methods were not professional.

Recently I found an easy formal way to avoid any confusion of this kind by doing a minor adjustment in the document and the font you used will travel with your document .

1. Go to “Office Button” on Left most corner of your word document.

2. Click on “Word Options”

3. A new window of word options will open

4. Select and Click on ‘save ‘

5. Select the check box next to “Embed fonts in the file”

6. Click “Ok” to save

7. Yuppie your document will carry the font with it every where it will travel even without your system

8. So no which ever font you work in French ,german , Spanish , Hindi , Gujrati , Devnagiri Tamil etc your document will take it along with it

A small disadvantage associated is that this will increase the file size by few mb but its worth it most of the times.

Thinking what technology could have done in ancient times is my favorite pass time and it often takes my imaginations really wild. I have thought of Mobile phones and laptops quite often but my recent thought full adventure was GPS . What if GPS was there in ancient times then might be our old mythological stories of Ramayan and Mahabharata would have shaped in different ways. So after doing some brain storming I thought that might be the best place to keep this GPS would be in the form of some hair accessories or some weapon but then what came out to me as most logical solution for Lord Rama was his KHADAU ~ foot wear. Now you just have to imagine some GPS instrument in Shri Ram’s Footwear which would have instantly guided him to the Lanka or the pathway with minor deviations or Bharat to find his brother Rama on the way J

But on the second thoughts this idea is even useful today when I travel alone some times iam not in my own car equipped with GPS and still need directions so why cant my shoes have the GPS like in school days we used to have lights in the heels of our sport shoes it used to be load of fun when in dark people wanted to follow you an amazing sense of leading all which used to be a pride moment in the days .

The shoes are called “No Place Like Home” after Dorothy’s famous line from the movie. The heel of the left shoe is hollowed out to hold a GPS unit. There are times when I travel and don’t find any charging point or no electricity these are some of the occasions I have cursed the battery of my mobile. Solutions :

The main reasons for such errors are:

1. Your Computer’s date is set to a wrong value (How to change system date and time ? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307938

2. The Security Certificate has really expired

3. The web-site is not trustable (But You can trust Gmail and Yahoo as you have been doing since quite some time) :P

4. If you're using IE7, when you recieve the error, the address bar is usually "red" with alock symbol. Click on the lock and it should ask you to install the certificate. If you trust it, install it to "Trusted Certificates...." and click install/done.

Most common reason for such security certificate error is that the certificates are valid for a certain period of time, and if your computer’s date is set to other than the current date or correct date, there are high chances that you will get this warning. So the first thing to check when you receive such error is to checkyour computer’s date and time settings. If the date time keep re-setting again and again, then I guess there is CMOS battery problem .

Yesterday while cleaning my Elmira I found a set of floppy’s some were well labeled with few of my school projects and others were merely unlabeled ok don’t blame me I was kid that time. I wanted to have a peek into my history what I wrote and how back then but question is How now there are almost no computers left who will have floppy drive I don’t know that How will I be able to recollect the data back . So kind of all the data which I have is almost as if I have kept it in a safe and the key of the safe is stolen and no lock manufacturers exist for it now.

When I was just packing them back and said to my mom do you remember what floppy is she gave me a classy expression of ignorance . Well my mom is not a geek but still a regular ipad ,iPod and laptop user and she just missed it. She made me count that she knows cd/dvd/pendrive /sdcard etc

Well that made me think that OMG Floppy are long gone who will remember them and how and then when I just thought to pen it down on word doc and tried to save it Hurrey I saw floppy symbol.

Floppy discs are long gone but still we almost daily see them as a option to save on microsoft (doc etc) or some site. I know most of you will be thinking IS it so Where ????

Microsoft /adobe and all of them pay tribute to floppy drives for the days when they were the synonym of having the data safe and saved. In all we still are using the symbol of Floppy in Save and Save as .

Or we can say that either they still think this symbol is the synonym of Save or They just missed out to adapt with the speed at which market is changing . What ever we say I was self enlightened on this finding ;) Its like we are so used to see them that we forgot what & when they were.

Think about it. If you're colorblind, does red, yellow, green tell you as much information as you need, as easily and quickly as you need to know it? Wouldn't it make u quickly access the information and process it. to add on the shapes i suggest some sound should also be associated esp for blinds. Is this asking too much from the people these are examples of some simple innovations which can make life of people easier.

Dichromasy - can be divided into protanopia and deuteranopia (two out of 100 males)
Protanopia (one out of 100 males)(the brightness of red, orange, and yellow is much reduced compared to normal)
Deuteranopia (one out of 100 males) (red, orange, yellow, and green )

My take on it :

I like the feature to use mobile as remote the Universal remote concept.
Iam personal not inclined to tell what iam watching neither want to let others know
My TV is at home / room mates and will this effect their privacy too
what will happen if 2 remotes are instructing at once
What if my cell phone rings and iam talking and my bro wants to use remote
Currently this is only awailable for iphones soon to launch on android as well But still what abt nokia blackberry and windows 7 OS phones ??
I know most of the points could have been taken care by Tata Sky people but they havent answered it.
But i must say that this is suerly going to take first movers advantages

If some one asks me to associate my name with some adjective with the alphabet my name starts with then I choose Kindle without doubt since years. Or to say since the day I learnt the meaning of the word I felt in love with it.

recently came across this description above and really thought back to think is it worth for ?
every country spend millions and trillions on the space travel on and on .Countries make it prestige point to be there .. i guess they are just trying to be a part of history .
Yes i feel it is important because it makes us more informed about our surroundings and full fill the inquisitiveness in the little human mind and at the same time even if we get the information whether we are worth getting this info as we humans are more like ppl attacking Pandora (avatar movie http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avatar_(2009_film) ) who survive on the basic funda of capturing and conquering which is at back directed by the ego or greed of ours the thought immediately gives me a counter feeling that it is better to be the first movers :) who knows they are more greedy than us.
indeed the knowledge & research makes you well equipped to take better decisions and geo science in line with my theory of Universe (every thing & every 1 comes with a lifeline) suggests every thing has to die though it might evolve as others .But is it worth for at the cost of the well being of the common man that is for the nation to decide not just to stand in the rat race of being the proud ones.

Yes i feel its worth going for it not because it feeds passion and pays paychecks to few people but because knowledge should have no boundations . Who knows that might help to find out the other hidden facts about us. Might be give us the case study or guidelines to act so that we end up like them or be better than them.whatever it be this science fascinates me :) so iam celebrating the 50 yrs with proud.

Vertical farming could it be future of Agriculture

A country like India who is known to be based o 70% farming Being a farming based country sometimes gives us the edge over the other nations being the one which exports their goods ok I do mind that we export the excellent of the stuff out .But that brings me back to the point of how the huge exponentially growing population will be tackled with speed at which we are converting the farms into concrete jungles.

Will there be any land left for farming at all ?

Will we even be able to fill our needs by that need less to say export ?

Where will the future of the nation lie ? ok iam asking as if software engineers don’t contribute to the GDP but how much .

Well now there some people came up with the thought of vertical farming

Definition of vertical farming :- Vertical farming is a proposal to conduct large-scale agriculture in urban high-rises or farm scrapers. Using recycled resources and greenhouse methods such as hydroponics, these buildings would produce fruit, vegetables, edible mushrooms...more?

By definition we get that the general farming which we do is is the horizontal farming where the land exposed to the sunlight and in vertical farming we will keep that in the stacks or like multi floors. Much like currently we are doing farming which is similar to having bungalows and vertical farming is like flats stacked over one another. So some of the comparisons could be on the similar basis of the adequacy of sun light and air and water for all will be an issues.Now this farming could be done in racks or on different floors of a multilevel building. With the limitation of limited exposure to the sunlight though this has its own pros and cons. Also there could be issues in finding out how we will be able to manage the soil and water for all in addition to maintaining the fertility of soil

So this can be tackled by either creating a artificial green house environment or by keeping the stacks movable from time to time .

Yes one advantage at any moment could be you can easily save them from cattle gaze where as once the crop is exposed to some insect virus then the chances of getting the others exposed also gets higher .well as all coins come with 2 sides this one too but looking at the current synerio there will be future in vertical farming to get more revenues of the same stack .

Who knows this will make your mom to do kitchen farming too and you will start getting your day too day veggies from the balcony of yours J

So lets see when in future when we are going to see that in India.I duly expect an article on farming like this from Indian farmologists but I guess they are too busy solving the current issues rather than spending few of the time to the future. That could make us keep struggling to the present rather than the future at any time to bring future at ease .
