Where to Bank an Adsense Cheque

2009-11-04T22:00:00.000-08:00

This is a follow up post to the long-running question of what do with an adsense cheque or its’ equivalent. There are dozens of Kenyan bloggers building up small net earnings from adsense and similar web-based advertising companies – but who usually pay in US$ cheques - minimum $100 i.e. now almost Kshs 8,000 which is a tidy sum for a part time activity.

The post is of interest because the costs of clearing such a cherub can run up to 50%at some banks. After the last post on the subject we had these as the cheapest banks:

2. Family Bank - Kshs. 650

3. KCB (said) minimum Ksh.800

4. Co-op Bank - Kshs 1,0001.

I can now add to the top of the pile Barclays Bank of Kenya who charge just Kshs 200 /= (~$2.5) the lowest so far I have verified

KCB was the only bank (out of 40) to respond to a query via the general e-mail account published by the banks. What does this say about the level of internet interaction? Very bad. There are some non-existent companies with great interactive websites, but with Kenyan banking its the opposite – some great innovative banks who put up massive website, and which, though updated often, rarely respond to to online queries and feedback.

How to Make Money With Adsense

2009-10-30T04:59:00.000-07:00

This post is in response to a number of emails I have received regarding Adsense. Specifically "How to Make Money with Adsense". I know most of you are familiar with the concept of adding Adsense to your blogs and are equally familiar with not making any money with it - or paltry sums at best

This post is an overview of what I do and regular readers may want to skip this.

I have been absent for the past two weeks working on some other projects but I noticed my RSS readers have grown by another 100 or so which tells me that there are a lot of new faces on here and most of you are not familiar with me or what I do online. I am not an A Lister or a guru of any kind. I am a niche marketer who until now has been making money quietly on the net - this blog was developed as just "another" niche I wanted to dominate in order to make money with Adsense and Affiliate sales. Unlike my other niches this blog has developed a readership and this has curtailed a lot of my usual activities regarding affiliate sales but I have kept the Adsense.

I dominate niches by using SEO techniques that I have been refining for a long time. I am not familiar with other systems as everything I do has been learned by trial and error - I experiment constantly.

My methods can be reduced to one simple strategy - I pick a niche that gets lots of search engine traffic and has a lot of corresponding advertisers and then optimize my blog and posts for every term that is in any way related to the main topic and sometimes no relation what so ever. My goal is always the same - I want to rank on page 1 on Google for every single term I target. By doing this I receive thousands upon thousands of visitors to my sites everyday and a percentage of these visitors click my ads or buy products through my links. Making money online can be reduced to one simple equation - the more search traffic you receive the more money you make. You will not make decent income until you start drawing thousands of visitors daily - it is a simple numbers game.

I don't want to rehash topics I have covered before so please read my posts on Keywords and Search Engine Optimization if you are not familiar with the topics. To make money with Adsense you will have to grasp these concepts first.

In spite of what most of you think - you can make a good living with Adsense sites. I do and I can honestly say that it is the easiest method for making money online - but - it does require work and some patience before you start seeing any meaningful results. I realize that screenshots are meaningless as anything can be faked but I will show you my Adsense income from last month and remind you that I am not selling you anything here - I just want you to realize that this is a viable source of income if you want to buckle down and work for it. It has taken me the better part of two years to reach this stage so don't get ahead of yourselves - this takes time.

This blog is in the "Make Money Online" niche and isn't one of the better searched niches in spite of it's popularity in blogging circles. The table below shows a sample of some of the related keywords for the "make money online" niche. None of the keywords provide a great deal of traffic on their own compared to niches like "music downloads" but when you add up all the different terms you can create a good flow of traffic if you rank well for all the keywords. This is what I do in every niche and it works.

Ranking well for one term in Google boosts your rankings for other terms - ranking well for lots of terms boosts your rankings for lots of other terms and so on - a giant snowball effect if you will.

Here are some keywords that I have targeted...

How to Get Money Rank 1
How to Make Money Rank 3

This term has 147 million competing pages - no easy task right? Well actually it's not as hard as you might think. Those of you who are new here may have noticed that this blog isn't pretty. In fact it's just a plain old free Blogger blog hosted on Blogspot. I have no fancy graphics and don't do a dam thing to encourage people to stop and read my content. This is by design and for one simple reason - I am not after readers - I am after clicks. The layout of this blog goes against all the conventional wisdom of how you should set up a blog. Keep this in mind - all that wisdom is about attracting readers - not making money. People don't click if you get them reading. About 7% of the people who find this site through Google click my Ads. The uglier I make the site the higher this percentage gets. If you are brave enough start reading my old posts - they explain how I have optimized this blog for search traffic. My techniques work in a highly competitive niche like this but more importantly they really kick ass in less competitive niches that have a lot more searches to cash in on.Getting search visitors is only step one however - getting them to click or buy is the hard part. My next post will cover all my little tips for converting traffic into Adsense revenue.Till then

Make Money With Google AdSense

2009-10-29T23:26:00.000-07:00

[Note: Today, I earn much more than the amount on that check. The reason I do not have a more recent check to display is Google pays me by direct deposit now.]

----------------------

Anyone who owns or is thinking about creating a website would be crazy to ignore this.

I am happy to say that making money with your site, no matter the topic, has become easier than it's ever been before - and it's 100% legitimate.

If AdSense had been available in 2000, I would have NEVER shut down my soap opera fan site that received 200 hits per day. I would have been able to earn money from that traffic and probably turned a small profit.

Untold Facts About AdSense you need to know in order to succeed with the program!

Yes, the money can be great, but if you don't learn how to build a site that attracts targeted traffic then you won't make much from AdSense.

Don't pay a cent for these "Get Rich Quick" books on AdSense. Many of them are all hype. Learn all you need to know for free.

Right click and "Save As" to download this book.

What is AdSense?

Google.com earns most of its revenue by allowing other website owners to advertise on their search result pages. All this is managed through a program they call AdWords.

Now you can earn a share of the revenue that Google earns from AdWords by displaying these same text ads on your site. In other words, you're helping Google advertise and they pay you a percentage of what they earn

Now you can earn a share of the revenue that Google earns from AdWords by displaying these same text ads on your site. In other words, you're helping Google advertise and they pay you a

percentage of what they earn.

Every website owner should at least consider the program. Even if your site is just for information purposes, you can still participate and make decent money with AdSense -- or at least enough to fund your website.

So if you are one of those people that doesn't like the idea of paying for a site, this is an excellent way to earn your money back and then some.

How AdSense Works

Don't like to read a lot of text? Watch my 4-minute video on how AdSense works.

"Is Google Crazy?"

I know what you're probably thinking...

"What's the catch here? Why would Google just give away money advertisers are paying them?"

The answer...

Because Google is very smart.

If you understand how AdSense works, you will see that it's a win-win situation for everyone involved, and the bottom line benefits Google. Let me explain...

Since the advertiser's ads are now being displayed on more web sites all over the internet (instead of just Google's site), they are getting much more exposure. More exposure means more clicks and even more traffic for their site over a shorter period of time.

This is good news for Google because the more traffic the advertisers receive, the faster their advertising funds are used up.

Remember, they get charged every time their site gets a visit; and of course, it is Google's hope that they'll continue to keep funneling more money into their account for more ad exposure.

What an ingenious way for Google to increase the amount of money they earn from advertisers while building loyalty with website owners (like us) who are now getting paid to help them advertise.

Of course, I'd expect nothing less from the most popular search engine on the web. :)

My Personal AdSense Story

I have been receiving monthly checks from Google since 2003, and I've read numerous success stories of websites earning 5 digit incomes per month with AdSense.

Now, I will admit, a 5-digit commission in a single month is probably not the norm for most participants.

I promote AdSense on three of my websites and my checks have been as high as $4,800.
The more information you have, the greater chance you have of attracting free search engine traffic. That's why it's so very important you choose a topic you have an interest in so you can keep building and building.

My checks weren't always that large. I think my first month's earnings in 2003 totaled less than $20. However, I kept getting more and more search engine traffic by adding more content and the checks slowly began to increase. I had no idea it would grow to anything like this.

"How Much Can I Earn With AdSense?"
Google does not disclose exactly how much you'll earn per ad that is clicked.

The commission you receive per click depends on how much advertisers are paying Google for the particular ad. You will earn a share of that amount. I've heard of earnings anywhere from 2 cents to $15 per click.

So it is logical to believe that keyword phrases like debt free, employment, make money, mp3, sex, etc. will earn you more per click since these are highly competitive keywords that are searched for quite a bit on the web.

Advertisers generally pay more for popular terms because they are searched for more.

Even though Google will not reveal how much you are earning for each ad that is clicked from your site, you can still login to your account at any time and see the total amount of revenue you've generated that day, week, month, year, etc.

For example, if you see that you've made $12.60 today from 9 clicks then you can calculate that your average click-thru commission was $1.40 per click. That's as detailed as their stats will get. Also remember, that's only an average. You won't know how much each specific ad brought in.

The amount you'll earn also depends largely on the amount of targeted traffic you receive to your own site, how well the ads match your audience's interests, the placement of the ads on your pages, and of course the amount you receive per click.

Ideally, you should create a site on a topic you know a lot about. That way you'll have a much easier time creating a generous amount of content on that subject.

Why I Believe AdSense Works So Well

For years, website owners have tried to make money from their sites by putting up banner ads in hopes of visitors clicking them. The problem with banner ads is that the Internet audience is so immune to them, people do not click on them anymore.

When's the last time you clicked a banner ad?

...Exactly!

Second, in order for the web site owner to earn money from that banner ad, usually the web surfer that clicks has to purchase something. With AdSense, your visitors just have to click the ads. They don't have to purchase a single thing.

There are many eBay business success stories published on the internet. You may have read some of them. But for every success story, there are actually thousand failures. People use their selling ideas and list all kinds of items on eBay for sales. But, the sad news is that not many of them sell their items well. So, you may want to know can I really make money selling on eBay. The answer is yes, you can.

eBay isn't a marketplace that can help people get rich quick. You will be disappointed if you jump on to eBay and expect fast profit. Building a successful eBay business needs three ingredients: time, money and hard effort. With these ingredients, you can make good money.

Three Important Questions You Have to Ask YourselfYou need to ask yourself

these questions before getting into eBay selling. How much capital do I have for inventory investment, eBay fees, and unforeseen expenses? How much time do I need to put into this eBay business? Do I possess the necessary energy and drive to build up this business? Once you have answered these questions, you will know exactly what course of action to take. If you have limited time and energy, you can begin by selling part-time on eBay. This is ok; many people who own a day job is doing fine in their part-time selling on eBay. There are monthly bills you have to pay; a new eBay business can't replace your income right away. It may take years of time.

Money can be a Problem

Money is another thing you have to think about. Do you have sufficient capital to build your business? If you have saved money for years, then money shouldn't be a problem that will obstruct you from building and growing your eBay business. But, if you don't have the available start-up fund, you can try to sell unwanted items from your home. This is a way to obtain some capital.

What You are Going to Sell

The three issues: money, time and energy have all been discussed, now it is time to find out what products to sell on eBay. You can sell almost anything on eBay but not everything sells well on eBay. Some items never sell because there are 100 other eBay sellers are listing the very same thing. Before you start an auction to list your item, do some market research. eBay offers a number of free resources for eBay sellers. Take advantage of all of them before listing your first item. Effective use of these free marketing tools and resources will give you an edge that others did not bother to look at. The information you obtain from your research will give you clear insight of what items to list in the eBay marketplace.

One-way Backlinks Links

The number of inbound links your site have gained will also impact the value as they are a way to determine your site's popularity and worth. The backlinks have to be relevant to your site and it is even better if those websites linking to you are in high PR

Google PageRank

Google designed their own Pagerank system to roughly determine the quality of a website. Most websites in the index of Google got a pagerank score. The Pagerank score is from 1 to 10. 10 is the best score. The Pagerank (PR) doesn't actually determine the site's quality accurately, but the buyers are generally willing to pay more for high PR domain name.

Content

So Why Should People Buy Your Product?

2009-10-15T21:36:00.000-07:00

There are many reasons for people buying things on the internet. To be able to make an online business profitable in the world, knowing the reasons for people to purchase anything makes selling an easier. The concept is basic and very simple. Take the buying reasons and create a marketing plan based on the practices of people.

The reasons are explained giving details for each reason. This understanding will be beneficial to any businesspersons who always think of how to make money with their online business. Different people have different reasons to purchase things, and those reasons can change depending on their mood or mindset.

The first reason people buy things is “basic needs.” An example of this is clothing. Everyone needs to have clothes. The need to acquire clothing to wear to work or during other times of the day means having a closet full of different styles of clothes to fit the needs of different times and occasions. Another example is computer supplies for use in the office or at home. Needing these supplies and items, each person buys things to make life easier.

The second reason people buy is “convenience.” People buy anything they feel will make life easier to live. An example is a cell phone, which allows the person to take the portable phone anywhere with them to communicate with the world. Look at the number of people today that have cell phones compared to the number about ten years ago. The cell phone has managed to become an everyday item people have no matter who they are or what kind of income they have.

The third reason people buy is “peace of mind.” Different items can give people a sense of security or safety. An example of an item is a home security system. People feel safer at home knowing they have the security system that will directly contact the police or the fire department. The monitoring service with the home security service will also contact the homeowner if an alert is given. This security makes a lot of people feel safer.

The fourth reason people buy is “personal image or ego.” People are vain. They will not always admit it yet just complement or comment on something they have or are wearing and watch their reaction. They will glow or shine with each comment. Everyone wants people to notice they are different or have something nice. Think about the person who has the BMW or Lexus. Nice cars but also a status symbol in the world stating this person has money or is prestigious.

The fifth reason people buy is “entertainment.” People need to have entertainment in their lives to relieve stress from the every grind of life. To have fun and enjoy life means all of the other stressful and difficult issues are easier to deal with. An example of this is concerts, sporting events, and dining out. All are a means of having entertainment in people’s lives. Different people want different ways to be entertained.

To narrow down the options to create internet businesses, the entrepreneur needs to focus of the needs and demands of the customer. Make the service or product a “must have” and the sales will shoot through the roof.

Earn Money through Internet

2009-10-05T03:29:00.000-07:00

Paid to click (PTC) is the one of very easy way to make money... We don't need any kind of professional qualification or experience to do that... Anyone can do it... All you have to do is just sign up for the programs after reading there TOS(Terms of services) and click on the advertisements that they've provided... That's all... It's come with many types like PTR (Paid to read) or PTS (paid to surf)... But generally they are all like same... In PTR programs mostly they give you mails to read and they pay you for that...Yes... We can make money from PTC sites... But we have to be careful... Because most of them are SCAM sites... They don't pay you for your clicks as they say... We don't want to waist our time with such programs... And lot of SCAM sites are going down everyday... So we have to find real good PTC sites... But anyone can't get responsible for that... Only we can help to others by our experience on it... Anyway we don't want to be worry, because all the programs are FREE TO JOIN... So we'll loose nothing by try with them...When you sign up with those programs, you need to give your account name of AlertPay or Paypal (It's your email address which you registered with AlertPay or PayPal) or any other money transferring system that you've already registered to receive your earnings....Please refer last post for more details about money transferring systems... The minimum payout is deferent from each sites and you have to read the information carefully on those sites for to have a better knowledge...After you registered in a program, login to the site and you'll see a button called earning area or view advertisements or surf ads or some what like that... Click on it and you'll find a list of ads for you to click... Just click on an ad link and view that ad for the time they've mentioned to watch... Time to view an ad is varies from deferent programs... Mostly it's 30 seconds... There's a time counter on or beside the ad and after countdown is finished they'll tell you OK... You have to wait till that patiently without click on another ad... You are not allowed to see two ads at same time. If you do so, they won't add money to your account for those clicks... But I'll give you a little hint... That is you can work on two or more sites at the same time... Use FireFox or Internet Explorer 8 as your browser and you can see all the sites in tabs in a one window... So you can easy to work with all... If you don't use or if you use old versions of those browsers, you can download new versions free from their sites....Can I make so much money by PTC as they said? Mmmm... It's not easy... But you can, only if you can referred so many people to the site... Because you earn when your referrals click on their ads too... How can you find referrals? After you sign up they will give you a referral code... Just send the code to your friends or to anyone you know or to email addresses that even you don't know... If you have your own web site or a blog site, you can place a banner or a site link with refferal code... Those sites give you the instructions to do that... And there's another way to get referrals... That is you can buy them from those sites... They sell the unreferred members for very low prices... Buy referrals from there is the easiest way...And if you can be a paid member/Premium member, then you will have more chances to make money than Standard/Basic/Free members... Carefully read the information on those sites to learn everything... I give you an advice... First join with them as a Free/Standard/Basic member... Take much time to learn and to get some idea about them... If only you can satisfied with their procedures or if only they paid you without any problem, then you can make a move and get a Premium Membership by paying there membership fee...Here in the bellow, I've placed some banners of selected top PTC sites which pay our revenue without problem so far for your consideration...Just click on these banners and join with the programs,,, It's all FREE... Please feed back or send me your suggestions to make this blog more worth to you all beginners and recently joined to these programs...

The 2009.10.01 All world Ocean Earthquake and Tsunami

2009-09-26T00:13:00.000-07:00

The dreadful moment when the Tsunami of 26 December 2004 hits the Thai coast after travelling ca. 400 km around the northern tip of Sumatra and then WNW across the Andaman sea and the Strait of Malacca. The coast shown in this photograph is "sheltered" (if that is quite the word for it in these circumstances) by Sumatra. The epicentre of the earthquake was on the far side of Sumatra and the tsunami had to work its way around the northern tip of that island,

losing a lot of energy in the process. The photograph captures only too clearly the tremendous power that even a weakened major tsunami can have.
The human figure on the left and the boats on the right can give a sense of scale. The unknown photographer did not survive and the same must be assumed for the human being. The camera was found later with the film intact (see Tsunami: the Tragedy in pictures). The exact part of the coast shown has not been identified. The breaking wave appears to be roughly 5-6 m high, which compares with the unimaginable wave of 30 m or even more that hit the town of Aceh much closer and in direct line to the epicentre (for maps see below).

The Cause: moving geological plates

The Indo-Australian plate moves below the Eurasian plate at around 70 mm per year on average. Plates get locked and move very little for many years, even centuries, pressure builds up - and is then suddenly and catastrophically released in the form of a major earthquake. This happened on 26th December 2004 below Sumatra on the fault line between the Indo-Australian and the Eurasian plates.
The major plates often have smaller plates at their edges. These minor and micro- plates tend to move, more or less, in the same direction as the major plates they belong to but are often the location of specially active geological fault lines.

How the tsunami destroys - in principle

The depth and topography of the sea determines the form a tsunami wave takes and how it propagates.
The way a tsunami breaks when reaching a coast is very difficult to predict. It depends on the topography that the wave has passed over on the high seas and on the form, steepness, height and form of the coastline hit. Within a few kilometers the hight of a tsunami wave can vary from lesss than a meter to 20 or more meters.

How the tsunami of 26 December 2004 started

Underwater landslides caused by submarine earthquakes are a major (perhaps usually the only) contributory factor to the formationof a tsunami wave. One enormous landslide off the west coast of Sumatra caused by the the quake of 26 Dec 2004 was discovered by the sonar of the British Navy's "HMS Scott" and is shown on the left. The view is to the south. (Picture courtesy Royal Navy).
How the tsunami of 26 December 2004 spread

The configuration in 3 dimensions of the newly-born tsunami, approx. 15 minutes after its creation. The view is towards north-west. Note that the highest waves (around 37 m) were around the unfortunate city of Banda Aceh at the northern tip of Sumatra.
For more pictures and an animated 17 MB movie of the expanding tsunami, see:

The red lines show the tsunami front at half-hourly intervals. The background shows the sea depth contours and is from Manfred Leier, World Atlas of the Oceans, 2000, Firefly Books, Buffalo NY, USA.
From the epicenter of the primary earthquake (1), the tsunami spreads out at, initially, around 700 km/h and with a starting height of 37 m. By the time the wavefront has reached Banda Aceh (3), its height has already been reduced to "only" 12 m, when reaching the island of Sabang (4) it is 6 m and when reaching the coast near Sigli (5) east of Bandar Aceh it is 5 m in height. The estimates of the tunami's early height are based on the extent and distance from the sea of damage caused. After clearing the northern tip of Sumatra, the tsunami does not lose significant hight anymore but instead slows down in the shallower waters. When the Tsunami reaches the Thai island of Phuket (6) it still produces heights of 4.5 m (Karon beach) and 5.5 m (Patong beach).
Because the power of the tsunami was deflected by Simeulue island (2) immediately to the south of the epicentre and by the west coast of Sumatra, much of the wave energy was deflected to the west and the north. The short time delay between initial and deflected wave energy also caused two tsunamis to move closely together northwards to the Nicobar (7) and Andaman (8) islands.
Coastlines and islands with significant loss of life and serious coastal damage are coloured red.

For photographs of the damage caused by the tsunami, see Pictures
The map below shows just how far and how quickly the tsunami travelled and how far. Human casualties were reported from East African beaches 7-8 hours after the main earthquake near Sumatra. The height of the tsunami had reduced to around 0.5 m by the time it reached the African coast. This may not sound much but if someone is taken completely by surprise, even such a relatively small wave can still be deadly.
The red lines show the progress of the tsunami across the Indian Ocean in half-hourly intervals. It is noticeable that the speed of the tsunami's advance is not significantly slowed down as long as the wave moves in deep waters.

The Tsunami spreads: countless local disasters
Sumatra
While in most areas around the Indian Ocean that suffered serious damage from the event of 26 December 2004, it was not so much the earthquake but the following tsunami that caused the horrific loss of life and damage. The western coast of the northern Indonesian province of Aceh and its capital, Banda Aceh, suffered especially grievously. This is the landmass closest to the epicentre of earthquake and tsunami.
The loss of life along the western coast of Sumatra (marked in red below) has been enormous and the destruction of infrastructure (houses, bridges, roads , harbours, agricultural land) nearly total. That the province had suffered for decades from a vicious civil war did nothing to improve the situation. That war was stopped only briefly after the disaster and has resumed since makes reconstruction even more difficult.

What is the Church?

2009-09-21T05:50:00.000-07:00

This page has three major sections. The first two review the Catholic and then the Protestant perspectives on the Church. The third section deals with the question of why there are so many churches.
The term "Church" is used by Christians in two different, but closely related, ways. It can refer to all of Jesus' followers, viewed as a community. It can also refer to specific institutions, either the local congregation or a national or international body. It can even be used to refer to the building in which they meet.
The Church is important, because God does not save people in isolation. An important part of what needs to be restored is our relationship with other people. That can only be done by the community as a whole.
God most often reaches us through other people. Mother Theresa's statements about seeing God in the poor are just one example of a more general Christian principle. Because a large part of our problem is self-centeredness, a large part of the remedy is to learn to depend upon other people, to represent Christ to them and allow Christ to speak to us through them.
The Church is also the group with which we worship. As such it has the responsibility to preach the Word of God, and to administrator the sacraments. (See the section on worship for a discussion of the sacraments.) These are critical elements in maintaining our fellowship with God and each other.
The Church also has a responsibility to encourage its members to make spiritual progress, and to show their faith by their behavior, both through their ethics and their good works. This responsibility includes administering brotherly correction when someone errs. Traditionally the Church has felt a responsibility to discipline, and if necessary exclude, members whose public lives are not in keeping with the message of Christianity. Not all churches are equally careful about carrying this out. It is in fact one of the more difficult responsibilities to get right. It is very, very easy for Church discipline to lead to self-righteousness and intolerance.
Jesus referred to the Christian community with several metaphors. In one he said that he was the vine, and all of his followers are the branches. In another, he referred to the church as his body. All of these images emphasized that his followers are spiritually united with him and with each other. One of the major problems today is that this union is not completely reflected in the way Christians act.
In this page, I will normally be using the term "Church" to refer to the universal Church. However I will sometimes use it to refer to individual communions such as the Catholic Church.
I. THE CATHOLIC PERSPECTIVE
The Catholic and Orthodox traditions see the church as the successor to the "Apostles" (Jesus' original followers). Jesus gave the apostles authority to lead the community and make decisions for them. He also gave an assurance that the community would be guided by the Holy Spirit, and would be protected.
Organization
By the end of the 1st Century, authority in the Church centered on bishops. Bishops were seen as successors to the Apostles. Bishops are consecrated by other bishops (normally at least three). So in principle every bishop can trace their authority back through an unbroken line of consecrations to the Apostles, and then Christ. This is referred to as the "Apostolic succession".
Currently bishops are normally responsible for a city and the surrounding territory. Of course the exact area depends upon population density and other considerations.
Bishops have several different kinds of authority and responsibility. They have the responsibility for maintaining proper doctrine in the area for which they are responsible. They are responsible for the proper conduct of the sacraments. They normally conduct certain sacraments (e.g. confirmation) personally. In other cases they delegate the authority to priests.
During the first few centuries, certain bishops developed greater prestige than others. This was often because of the history or role of their cities. The bishops of these key cities have special leadership responsibilities. In the East, they are referred to as "patriarchs". In the West, the bishop of Rome is regarded as the preeminent bishop. He is normally referred to as the "Pope". (Note that "pope" is another word for patriarch. In principle any patriarch can be referred to as a pope. However currently this would be so confusing that the term pope is normally reserved for the bishop of Rome.)
The Pope has two conceptually separate roles: First, he is the patriarch of the Roman Catholic Church. As such, he is ultimately responsible for everything that happens in that communion. He makes key appointments and decisions, and can review any action.
In the Catholic tradition, the Pope is also seen as the spokesman for the Church as a whole. He has a special responsibility for maintaining proper doctrine and morals. As part of this responsibility, he or his representative chairs all ecumenical councils. He may also make authoritative doctrinal decisions on his own authority. Of course this authority comes from Christ. See the discussion below of Papal infallibility.
In principle the second role gives him leadership responsibilities over churches other than the Roman Catholic Church, i.e. churches of which he is not the patriarch. In such churches the Pope would not directly govern, but they would still be subject to his overall doctrinal leadership. There are a few Eastern churches that accept this concept. (They are often referred to as "uniat" churches.) However the major Orthodox churches do not accept the Pope's idea of universal leadership. Many of them would accept him in some role of spokesman. But generally they do not accept papal infallibility, and they also believe that he has often attempted to make decisions for other churches that are properly the responsibility of their own leadership.
The Catholic and Orthodox traditions emphasize continuity in doctrine and in worship. Please see the latter parts of Why do Christians Believe This? for the role of tradition in developing and stabilizing doctrine. The bishops have a primary role as carriers of the tradition. They are expected to hold to the original faith as given to the Apostles, and also to work together and with the Pope (or all the patriarchs, for the Orthodox) to maintain common doctrine and practice throughout the Church.
The office of priest developed slightly later. Originally they were seen primarily as assistants to the bishop. Priests are typically responsible for an individual congregation or church. This isn't exact: Larger churches may have more than one, and sometimes a single priest may have more than one church. The priest is responsible for guiding the life of the congregation, and for conducting most normal sacraments. Priests are ordained by bishops.
Certain of the sacraments (e.g. communion) may only be performed by a priest or bishop. This is not just an issue of who has permission to do it. At ordination, a priest receives spiritual authority. Without that authority, the transformation of the bread and wine into Christ's body and blood in communion will not occur.

The telephone (from the Greek: τῆλε, tēle, "far" and φωνή, phōnē, "voice") is a telecommunications device that transmits and receives sound, most commonly the human voice. It is one of the most common household appliances in the developed world, and has long been considered indispensable to business, industry and government. The word "telephone" has been adapted to many languages and is widely recognized around the world.
The device operates principally by converting sound waves into electrical signals, and electrical signals into sound waves. Such signals when conveyed through telephone networks — and often converted to electronic and/or optical signals — enable nearly every telephone user to communicate with nearly every other worldwide. Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) Test

2009-09-15T21:41:00.000-07:00

A human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) test detects antibodies to HIV or the genetic material (DNA or RNA) of HIV in the blood or another type of sample. This determines whether an HIV infection is present (HIV-positive). HIV infects white blood cells called CD4+ cells, which are part of the body's immune system that help fight infections. HIV causes acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), a long-term chronic disease that cannot be cured.
After the original infection, it takes between 2 weeks and 6 months for antibodies to HIV to appear in the blood. The period between becoming infected with HIV and the point at which antibodies to HIV can be detected in the blood is called the seroconversion or "window" period. During this period, an HIV-infected person can still spread the disease, even though a test will not detect any antibodies in his or her blood.
Several tests can find antibodies or genetic material (RNA) to the HIV virus. These tests include:
Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). This test is usually the first one used to detect infection with HIV. If antibodies to HIV are present (positive), the test is usually repeated to confirm the diagnosis. If ELISA is negative, other tests are not usually needed. This test has a low chance of having a false result after the first few weeks that a person is infected.
Western blot. This test is more difficult than the ELISA to perform, but it is done to confirm the results of two positive ELISA tests.
Polymerase chain reaction (PCR). This test finds either the RNA of the HIV virus or the HIV DNA in white blood cells infected with the virus. PCR testing is not done as frequently as antibody testing because it requires technical skill and expensive equipment. This test may be done in the days or weeks after exposure to the virus. Genetic material may be found even if other tests are negative for the virus. The PCR test is very useful to find a very recent infection, determine if an HIV infection is present when antibody test results were uncertain, and screen blood or organs for HIV before donation.
Indirect fluorescent antibody (IFA). This test detects HIV antibodies. Like a Western blot test, it is used to confirm the results of an ELISA. But it is more expensive than a Western blot test and not commonly used.
Testing is often done at 6 weeks, 3 months, and 6 months after exposure to find out if a person is infected with HIV.

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)

2009-09-15T21:37:00.000-07:00

Overview

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) presents a complex knot for scientists to unravel. After initial contact and attachment to a cell of the immune system (e.g. lymphocytes, monocytes), there is a cascade of intracellular events. The endproduct of these events is the production of massive numbers of new viral particles, death of the infected cells, and ultimate devastation of the immune system. However, the knot IS becoming unraveled. These pages attempt to simplify HIV infection at the cellular level. The following diagram shows a number of steps from initial attachment of a viral particle to a lymphocyte through budding of new viruses from that cell.

What is the Online Moeny

2009-09-13T10:05:00.000-07:00

This article was taken from http://www.google.coma/dsense and I find it interesting to show to all adsense user. It can give you a clear image on how to get your targeted profit with your adsense ads.
Let's say you have a goal of earning $100,000 a year from AdSense. Is that possible?Let's see ... $100,000 divided by 365 = $274 a day. So your goal is to produce either:274 pages which earn $1 a day
OR
548 pages which earn 50 cents a dayOR
1096 pages which earn 25 cents a dayThe following are hypothetical cases.
To earn $1 a day per page, you need, per page...400 visitors, 5% click-through rate (CTR) and average 5c payout.
Or 200 visitors, 10% CTR and an average 5c payout.
Or 100 visitors, 10% CTR, and an average 10c payout.
Or 100 visitors, 5% CTR, and an average 20c payout.
Or 50 visitors, 10% CTR and 20c average payout.
Or 25 visitors, 20% CTR and 20c average payout.
Or 20 visitors, 10% CTR and 50c average payout.
Or 10 visitors, 20% CTR and 50c average payout.
Or 5 visitors, 20% CTR and $1 average payout.
Let's assume you choose a goal somewhere around the middle, say aiming for 50 visitors per page and want 274 pages earning $1 a day.
You'd need 274 x 50 = 13,700 pageviews a day.
Does that sound too tough? If so, you'd better look for more profitable keywords and ways to improve your click-through rates.Let's try a different scenario.
You choose more profitable keywords and make your $1 on average per page from, say, 10 visitors. 274 x 10 = 2740 pageviews a day. That's looking easier to achieve. If your average visitor sees 3 pages, you now need 913 unique visitors a day.Is that too tough to achieve in your niche? If so, create two sites, each attracting half that number, 456 unique visitors, a day. Can't achieve those click-through rates and payouts? Then you'll either need more pages on your sites on more niche sites. Some affiliates have a goal of writing one article a day and building one site a month.Need a little more help reaching that $100,000 goal? Add affiliate commissions into the equation. Add a newsletter for repeat sales.Choose the goal which best matches your site or sites. Then start building keyword-rich pages containing well researched, profitable keywords, and get lots of high quality links to your site.About the author : Allan Gardyne. What is a Computer.......

2009-09-02T22:20:00.000-07:00

ServerMost of us are very well acquainted with the word computer server. We know that in all organizations, schools and colleges there is a computer server, to which all the computers are connected. But many of us will give absurd answers, if asked the question, what is a computer server? Thus, in this article, I will be explaining to you, the answer to the question, what is a computer server?
The first computer virus to openly make it to the public was a program called "Elk Cloner". It was created by Rich Skrenta, a computer programmer who was in high school when this virs was created in 1982. Elk Cloner attached itself to the Apple DOS 3.3 operating system and was later spreaded by a floppy disk. When the virus was created, it was intentionally made as a joke by the high school student, who inputted the virus into a game in which the virus was set off after the 50th time of using the game. When the virus was set off, a blank screen appeared and displayed a poem about the virus. The computer then became infected. The first PC virus was a boot sector virus named (c)Brain. Two brothers, Basit and Amjad Farooq Alvi, whose only intentions were to protect their work from piracy and to target copyright infringers, programmed it. However, according to analysts, the Ashar virus, which was a variant of Brain, possibly was created before the (c)Brain. Before network computer expansion, most viruses were spreaded through removable media, such as floppy disks. These viruses infected programs stored in the disks, while others were inputted into the disk boot sectors, and activated when the user booted the computer from the disk. The traditional and typical virus characteristics common to us now emerged in the 1980s, where there was an increase of BBS (Bulletin Board System, where a computer system runs software that allows users to dial into the system over a phone line), modem use, and software sharing. BBS contributed greatly to the rapid spread of Trojan horses, and viruses were orginally written to target popular software traders. Traders who were in a hurry to retrieve the lastest software were usually the easiest prey to infect viruses with.In the mid 1990s, macro viruses came into the scene and became common quickly. Ironically, some versions of Microsoft Word allowed the macro virus to multiply and gain additional blank lines. This can cause a misleading detection, as others would see the new strands of the macro virus as a new virus.
Viruses then began spreading via instant messaging. Typically, it sends a web address to everybody in the contact list, and anyone who so much as click on the link would be prone of an immediate infection. However, there are thousands and thousands of viruses operating online and new viruses are discovered every single
