The Ray project was started by a man named 'Ray' in St. Louis. The aim on the song was to cheer his daughter up after a hard days work. He never intended it to be a big internet hit but after it wass emailed to a few people it became massive and has been remixed.

"Hi, my name is Ray, and on yesterday my daughter called me, ah, because she was stressed out because of, ah, things that were going on on her job that she felt were quite unfair. So I was lead to write this song, just for her."

This video shows us that the internet can be a pathway to creating any type of media/entertainment and sharing it with the world.

This is another video from TED.com entitled 'How creativity is being strangles by the law' spoken by Larry Lessig. He uses three anecdotes to try educate the audience about how children are using new technologies and how they are being faced with copyright laws and big businesses.

My 1st Day at Shifted Pixles

Today was my first day doing work experience at "Shifted Pixels"

I came and and we spoke about how the internet helps contribute to our society and how to use it to my best advantage. We also spoke about how a design/web/marketing agency works.
I then watched two videos, one about how schools are killing creativity and the other on "broken" consumer products entitled 'This is broken'.
Nick then showed me how to create my own blog and how to customize it to suit what I wanted to be displayed.
He also showed me a site "http://www.archive.org/index.php" which allows you to view websites such as 'google' when they were first created.
It was a fantastic first day!

School kills creativity

This video comes from a site called Ted.com (ideas worth spreading) featuring a man named Sir Ken Robins who is speaking about how public education is killing the creative minds of its students and almost forcing them to value subjects such as maths over the arts. The main aim of this is to satisfy university requirements rather then allowing children to explore all creative avenues. He also uses funny anecdotes from is personal life to engadge the audience.

Here is my summary on the video:

Kids will take a chance, if they don’t know they will have a go, there not frightened of being wrong
If your not prepared to be wrong you will never come up with anything original

This is broken

This video comes from a conference called 'Gel 2006' in New York City. It is spoken by Seth Godin about broken consumer products in our society. He uses photos of ridiculous signs and products for example food lines in movie theaters and a sign with the words "this sign and sharp edges" to amuse the audience while getting his point across at the same time. The video exploits idiotic decisions made by companies and the mechanicalism of people to only do the jobs they have been given and not think for themselves. This video guarantees to make you laugh.
