July 1, 2017, is my official start date as the new principal at CF Patton Middle School. I am incredibly honored and could not be more excited to serve in this new role. I am also very excited to meet our Patton Middle School families. I have lots of names to learn, and I want to get started as soon as possible. To that end, I have scheduled several meet and greet opportunities for parents to drop-in and say hello. I have organized the meetings according to grade level, but please feel free to visit during any of the dates and times listed below:

Monday, July 17, 3-5PM for 6th-grade families
Tuesday, July 18, 3-5PM for 7th-grade families
Wednesday, July 19, 4-6PM for 8th-grade families

Please do not hesitate to contact the Middle School office, or send me an email if you have any questions.

Take a moment to read a letter written by a parent to Pocopson ES principal, Mr. Beaver, applauding both the success of a Pocopson LEGO League team as well as the outstanding kindness and cooperation shown by another team comprised of Patton students Adian White, Bradlee Grazela, Owen Prysock and Katie Ketterer.

Niche.com recently ranked Charles F. Patton Middle School #48 in their 2016 Middle Schools with the Best Academics in America! The ranking is based on student test scores, student-teacher ratios, and the quality of academics across the school district. Additionally, Niche.com ranked Patton #90 in the Top 100 Best Overall Public Middle Schools in America. This ranking was based on student test scores, student-teacher ratios, student diversity, teacher quality, and overall quality of the school district. We are very proud of our students and teachers for this recognition. However, we must also thank our elementary schools for sending us such very well prepared students and our high school for their continued collaboration in helping us best prepare our students for the next level of their educational experience in UCFSD. I am so proud to be a part of this amazing team of UCFSD administrators, teachers, and support staff and humbled to work for a community that values education and gets involved in their schools and school district.

The Technology & Engineering Education Association of Pennsylvania has deemed our Technology and Engineering program to be the 2015 Middle School Program of Excellence! We will be accepting this award in Harrisburg in November. We will then travel to D.C. to be recognized by the International Technology & Engineering Education Association as an exemplary program internationally! Congratulations to Mr. Palo and Mr. Stoltzfus for their hard work!

A recent 2015 ranking of middle schools by niche.com shows Patton Middle School as the 82nd ranked middle school in the nation! That ranking puts us in the top 0.5% of all middle schools nationally! Car Magnets Are Here!

Patton Middle School car magnets are now on sale at the school store for $3. All money collected from the sale of these magnets goes directly to support our Life Skills program for students with special needs. This money allows our students in the Life Skills program to have experiences that include community outings, grocery shopping, cooking, financial management and budgeting, and other critical life skills our students need. Show your Patton Pride and support a great program that benefits our kids at the same time!!

Patton Athletes "Unite For Her"

During the week of 10/13, all Patton sports team will participate in a fundraiser entitled "Unite For Her" http://www.uniteforher.org/students-unite-for-her.html. Proceeds will go directly to support victims of breast cancer in Chester County and in our School District. Students will be allowed to wear pink spiritwear during a home game that week and pink shoelaces will be provided by "Unite For Her" to wear during the game as well. T-Shirts and sweatshirts will be available for purchase starting the week of 10/6 to raise money for the cause. Pictures of the available items will be posted on the web.

* Encourage students to have a good night's sleep and healthy breakfast each morning. Snacks are allowed during the breaks.

* No electronic devices, including cell phones, are permitted in the testing environment.

* Please bring a calculator for use during the math assessments.

* Testing should conclude by 10:00am each day. This information may help you in your planning regarding any appointments or early dismissals.

PSSA ELA Field Test CANCELLED

In an effort to get back to teaching and learning after such a crazy week, we will not be participating in the PSSA field test on Wednesday. I am confident that our awesome kids and talented staff will do very well on the assessment next year regardless of our participation in the field test. Our kids are tested enough already :-)
