With the hype and questions going around i thought the need to tell you what the Dynowars series is all about.

Many car clubs have support but only for their own events, repping their own club and talking shit about other clubs. The shit talking refers to , " well i never see your club members" , " your club is kak" and the list goes on and on. I have been in coversations where someone is talking shit about one club and that's not right. What people need to understand is, that when you sign up with a club you are not just signing up to be part of some social motoring club, although thats what the car clubs are supposed to be, but you are making an oath to be there for your fellow mates. We are all supposed to stick together, something drew us to motoring love, whether it be fast cars, sexy cars or just the love of being a part of something.

Dynowars series is here to show the entire Cape Town which club has the most support and which club has shown more love. With the response of this series next year it will expand to the track as well. 1/4 mile drags, gymkana, dyno days and social drives. All of these will count towards the next installment of the CTSR CAR CLUB OF THE YEAR.

RULES ( reviewed after the previous dyno) :

1) Your car can run 20 times but will only be counted as one.
2) 1 point is awarded to every car placed on the dyno repping a car club
3) 10 points awarded to the first car on the dyno
4) 5 points awarded to the car repping a club thats takes a class ( i.e = 1600 forced class )
5) Points will be totalled and a ceramony will be held in honor of the " Best club in Cape Town" end of 2009
6) A full feature will be arrange for the winning club.

Cape Town Street Racing Crew

Cape Town Street Racing Crew has been out and about the recent couple of weeks, covering the GP bikini car wash, Revved Up marketing R50 000 pimp your ride car show, the burn-outs with the Cape Town Spinners and other smaller events.

Car Racing, or Racing in Cape Town has cooled down alot in regards to the "new" ghost squad that has been out and about in cape town. They have added new cars to their arsenal, Focus ST, MK5 GTi's and Toyota's. So please be aware and do not run at the local spots as they are watching, ( que jaws soundtrack).

Well as for events, everyone has been quiet due to the "fast" with our muslim members. The Killarney Street 2 Strip has been busy and has made it hard to get in a few runs on the night. Big Shout out goes to MMR ( Max My Ride ) for covering some cape town cars and events. Finally breaking into the cape town market. With the long weekend starring us in the face we are all excited for the racing happening this weekend.

All events happening at killarney with the all tar rally kicking off the weekend in style, followed by saturday's jam packed day, with club drags, street 2 strip ( after 3pm ) and all tar rally day 2 happening. We can't forget about women's day with women in motorsport hitting the track on sunday.

We couldn't ask for a better weekend, but the weather might place a damper on our hopes of clearing a fantastic racing weekend.

DYNO WARS RESULTS

A nice turn-out from alot of clubs that came through, some new and some old. Seems like everyone is looking forward to the next instalment of the CTSRcrew Dyno Wars........

We will decide closer to the time when it will be a good idea to release the date of the next dyno.
A special thanks goes out to the Dyno Wars sponsors Autostyle, SA autoparts and Max my Ride Magazine for their support.

We had a wonderful day that was almost thwart out with a slight drizzle but the weather turn-out very good for a dyno day. Not that hot and also not cold , just superb. A few cars took the centre stage with the CTSRcrew honda V-tec , CTSRcrew Chevy Lumina SS and the more imfamous Raceweb RX7, powered by a whopping 350kw+ rotary motor. We even got a stray dog, dubbed DYNO, that came to support the action and was immediately adopted by one of the spectators. The car of choice for the day was the Honda V-Tec taking over in many ways from the dyno to showroom condition V-Tecs. But one car made a name for itself, a sleeper citi golf turbo. Full story to be viewed in the next issue of Max my Ride Magazine.

S2S increases entrance fee......

I'm getting word in that S2S or street to strip as we all know it as, has increased there fee from R20 to R30. Some people are blaming OPD for taking over S2S, others are saying it's to help the WPMC, but im not that sure.

I will not say anything until i get official word from the powers that be for the reason in the price hike. It's already expensive to go to the drags.

Typical night to the drags:
R30 each for me plus one = R60
Food = R30
Cool drinks = R20
Petrol = R50 + /-

and if you want to lay it down on the track you have to cough up more cash.

That being said according to the Killarney calendar the next S2S is going to be the 28th August 2009. So we get one S2S a month, people are racing on the streets, looking for privates. My advice is to join up with the club drags, it costs a little but at least you will be able to pull on S2S nights and club drags.

So if you club wants to join in, all they have to do is show up and place their car on the dyno...

OPD DYNO DAY RESULTS JULY 2009

Well the dyno day at OPD went off with a bang as people from all around Cape Town streaming in to see some of the fastest cars in South Africa and Cape Town throw down on the rollers. We saw some of the best cars like the fastest Opel Corsa in the world, Luc's monster, push out 600nm of torque and 323kw of pure power.

Well the results are here see for yourself the power figures produced. You can also see some of the pictures taken, these will be uploaded within the week.

CAPE ST OWNERS BREAKFAST RUN!!

Cape St Owners are very well known to have a great social club. If you would like to join some of the CTSR CREW and the CAPE ST OWNERS club for a fun filled day out and about then please meet us at the Engen Garage by the N2.

If this gets rained out their will also be a car show regardless of the weather at the Goodhope Center. This will be where you will see all the flashiest and fliest cars that rustles through the Cape Town streets. Unforunately i do not have the flyer for this one but not to forget about the Honnda Boys Dyno day..... on the 27th at DynoTech..... and the OPD dyno day on the 4th of July...

The OPD dyno day will be like no other one in the history of dyno's. we will be having the fastest cars in cape town rolling up on the rollers. the fastest corsa in the world, fastest Uno turbo in cape Town and a nice 11sec slantfront Toyota to round it off. There will be every type of car available to see, plus many fine hot women for the guys and a hot guy for you females.* ya look out for me...lol

Late but rather late than never. We had a wonderful turn out in knowing that MACE, also had a dyno day, but our next dyno day will happen on the 11th July 2009 @ Dynotech in brackenfell. street2strip and club drags on the same day: read below very important

DRAGS / STREETRACING WEEKEND: 23rd & 24th May 2009
The next drag event could not have come any sooner. After the short, chaotic however successful drag event on the 27th April, there was both excitement and impatiens from both spectators and racers wanting to get back to the track as soon as the weather permits allowing us to have a full day event, with this said the WPMC Drag committee has decided to put an interesting spin on the upcoming weekend.

Sat 23rd May will be MSA Drag racing from 11am till 5pm followed by Street2Strip from 6pm till 10pm, gates open at 8am. Scrutineering for the MSA competitors will take place from 10am till 12pm while race entries and a meeting for the MSA competitors will be at the WPMC clubhouse on Thursday 21st May at 8pm. Street2Strip entries and vehicle checks will happen from 3.30pm till 6pm.

With these events you are guaranteed a full day’s entertainment. At the last race day the bar was set by Luc Luchesi, in his turbo Opel Corsa. He did a time of 10.94 seconds placing him officially as the fastest Corsa in SA. There is a score to be settled between 3 cars namely the Uno turbo of Niel van Zyl and mk1 16v turbo golf’s of Sarel Du Plessis and Ashraf (Gambit) Allie. The Uno has been harassing and bullying the golf’s on their maiden runs and they intend on settling the score at the upcoming event. The Speed n Sound crew will be there in full force hoping to better their times, which is well within reach. These are but a few of the cars, there will be cars representing various car clubs in and around Cape-Town.

More interesting news for the weekend is that the oval side of the circuit will be used for Short Circuit Motorcycle Racing during Saturday due to their past weekends event being rained out. The official gymkhana has been cancelled to make way for this however not all is lost as the WPMC has decided to host its first Street2Strip Gymkhana where anyone can get a chance to take part in the obstacle course from 6pm till +-9.30pm. Remember that this will not be an official competition with results and awards however times will be given to the drivers, this means that there is no license’s required so anyone with a valid drivers license can take part as long as you do entries and get a number same as the other Street2Strip competitors.. This will also be the first time Killarney has hosted a NIGHT TIME gymkhana. The idea will be to have a very tight gymkhana where only first and maybe second gears would used so this means that power could actually make you go slower and traction and skill will be the order of the NIGHT.

If that wasn’t enough, Sunday will be a STREETCAR OPEN TRACK DAY (this provided that the Saturdays Drags / Streetracing event does not get rained out.) 9am till 1.30pm
This is where members of the public get to come drive their road cars around the circuit in a controlled environment without the hassle of being chased for breaking the law by the boys in blue.
Drivers are separated into three groups and all new drivers should be at the drivers briefing at 9am in the pit lane.
Drivers fee is R250 per person, WPMC members R150, Passengers R50 – Long pants, top, closed shoes required.

IN SHORT:
Thu – MSA Race entries for Drags 8pm in the WPMC Clubhouse

Fri – Track setup (no event)

Sat – Drags & Short Circuit Racing till +-5.30pm Then Street2Strip till +-10pm
Adults R40, U16 R10, U12 Free

Sun – Streetcar Open Track Day if Drags does not get rained out on Sat.

IF SATURDAY DOES GET RAINED OUT: NO STREETCAR OPEN TRACK DAY
Drags 9am till 3pm / Street2Strip 3pm till 7pm
Gates open 7.30am
Scrutineering: 8am till 10am

KILLARNEY STREET2STRIP INFO:

Killarney will once again be opening their doors to the local streetcar streetracers this coming weekend.

So if you or anyone you know has ever wanted to put their streetcar onto the Killarney main straight this is the perfect opportunity. Entry fee to get in is only R40 per person (normally R20 but this is a full day and night event) and it is only another R20 to race provided you complete the necessary paperwork and your vehicle passes the safety check in turn 5 - scrutineering bay.

Vehicles will be subject to a safety check in the scrutineering bay in turn 5, so make sure you have all your wheel bolts in, battery must be fastened down properly and everything must be in general good working order. Required safety gear is everyone must wear long pants, top, closed shoes and SABS approved crash helmet. Crash helmets are available for hire from Dominic Tel: 0834773460 / dominic.williams@gobroadband.co.za

What to know:

Entry fee is R40 per person (for this full day / night event) over the age of 12, to partisipate is only another R20.
WPMC Club members free of charge, R20 per person with them over the age of 12.
Gates open from 8pm.

To race is only R20 provided you complete the necessary paperwork and pass the safety check, clothing, helmet etc

Entries will be accepted at the main gate caravan from 3.30pm till 6pm.
Scrutineering will be down in turn 5 scrutineering building.

Vehicles that have run quicker than a 13 second run are not permitted at Street2Strip events for safety reasons.

The idea of the Street 2 Strip events is to provide the facility at a nominal fee to streetracers who are racing in and around Cape Town. As there will be no formal competition and this is aimed purely at the Streetracers, no competition license will be required however indemnities will have to be completed. The timing lights will be in place however there will be no results posted nor prizes awarded at the end of the evening.

This event is aimed specifically at the streetcar streetracers. So with that in mind there will be no motorcycles on the evening, no interruptions from the Club drag competitors, just a queue of streetcars wanting to take one another on down the strip. As we are planning to have many more of these types of events we are aware of noise pollution laws, we will not allow any vehicle even moderately too loud after 9pm. This includes some drifting practice at the oval side of the circuit when approved to run. So if you have an aftermarket exhaust, don’t worry unless it is very noisy. Straight through exhaust will have a problem so please do be aware of the situation.

This coming Sunday from 9am till 1pm

Points to note for drivers:

First timers are highly advised to be present for the safety brief at the start of the event. Your entry can be rejected if you are not present at the briefing at the start of the event +- 9am:

Fees:
R250 per driver
R150 for WPMC members (membership book must be produced at entries)
R50 for passengers

Drivers will be separated into three groups:

Group 1: Easy group – No passing under brakes / single file in the corners.

Group 2: Experienced group – Out braking is allowed / No overtaking in the corners.

Group 3: Pro Group – This is for the very experienced driver and race vehicles at race pace.

Race cars:
Race cars in group 3 only unless by arrangement with the organizers in advance.
Only street legal vehicles allowed on Sundays, no excessively loud vehicles – road or race.

Safety:
Vehicles:
All vehicles will be subject to a safety check, everything must be in good working order. No cracks in the brake disks, battery to be securely fastened.

Drivers:
Long sleeve tops, long pants, closed shoes and an SABS approved helmet are required for passengers and drivers.

So many people would love to know why the group on Facebook, Cape Town Street Racing closed down and the CTSR Crew opened. The cause for that was mi-communication within the executive members and we decided to make things seem better we will get people informed of our plans. Cape Town Street Racing will continue to grow and we will see who is really interested in getting involved with the group. We also have the next event going into plan VERY soon. This one will be a big one. So keep your eyes posted here.....

Cti Updates

Since the mail box seems to be empty i thought i'd feature a little of my car.

Since the last update i have sprayed the bonnet, roof and posts black. It's looking great but still needs to be polished up and buffed out. Then the car will go in to be resprayed all around, but still keeping the red. I also added in the cystal lights and a new de-badged grille, as my other one was showing some wear and tear....

The has been in for tune- ups at OPD with no gain, but more of a drop in the recent times. The car will go in again to see if i can reach that 90kw mark i once had. Remember this is a standard CTi that is a bit old more than 13 years old. So some power has been lost. Next on the agenda is the suspension but enjoy the pictures that have been taken thus far of the spray:

Killarney S2S 6pm- i would like to make it so that there will be alotta CTSR members and supporters at the meet....

We will be hosting a dyno day at OPD ( ottery petrol and diesel) on the 9th May 2009 and will be handing out prizes. This is conjunction with OPD and there is talks of getting OPD as a selected dealer.

We will also be having a little hookup closer to end of MAY, similar to the ones we found fruitful earlier in this month. Well due to the poll that was posted we will be having a breakfast run very soon with a park-off with a braai..... location TBD.

If you are serious about cars, car modifications, car events, CARS!, then keep your eyes glued to this spot and get informed.

He has a carbon fiber Simota filter and the rest of the motor is still
standard but have a few mods in mind... he's running a HKS exhaust with
a 50mm free flow pipe... he wants to get a 55/60mm pipe with a custom
exhaust box.

POWER:
1.6 standard motor

SOUND:
two 12 inch subs,1000w pioneer DVC's
Then a new set of pioneer 6x9's
with a new set of competition mids and a 1000w stereo amp to run it.
Then i wana get a new mp3 player deck...

MAGS:
Lenso 17inch rims( a black rim with a high polised lip) and still has a stock
suspension...

OPINION:

Well to say the least the car stands out like a prostitute in a church. Well suited mags for the look of the car, i can only see one problem with the car as it's not sporting a CTSR vynal on it.

Sorry these came out a little shitty but at least you can see the speeds, please note that the speeds was not correct according to almost every driver that raced so it's something that hasn't found stable ground. The event turned out fantastic and pics and videos will follow at a later stage.

Well i just recently placed in a 288 cut cam into my stock CTi and it makes a huge difference with the power output. I just cannot figure out how to tune this car to the way it's supposed to be. Cars or really fast cars needs alotta attention throughout their lives and im not really in the position to fiddle with a car that will never give me enough power to put down.

I want to get myself a better car that will put down more power. I was also at the Saldanha drags that happened the 11th April 2009. It was GREAT. Very fastcars and good friends made it an awesome event. CTSR - Cape Town Street Racing also ran with our stock cars and got killed but at least we ran.

Will update with pictures of the event and keep you up to date with the Cape Town Street Racing scence.

The next meet up will proberbly be the 21st of March but will keep you posted on what goes down. Also the drags found at Killarney the S2S , or street to strip will be closing down within due time. We , as wanna be racers, need to find alternative places to race now due to the people that control the racing board. Why would anyone in their right minds want to do that. IDIOTS! Closing the track down will revert to strip to street..... holla if you hear me!

Cape Town Street Racing is not just a name it's a social car club thats starting up and can be found on facebook.

They a really young club and has chosen to support the SPCA for now and moving on to communities around the Cape Flats area. Supporting schools and food programs...

Perks of joining the club consists of back rubs be me, foot massages by JOE and all the help and knowledge of CTSR mech team!

Amongst others are breakfast runs, park offs, S2S updates, drags ( legal ones) and car shows. A good all round motoring community.
