i don't know what i would do without my sisters.

they are so special to me.

my older sister has recently been involved in a serious accident, one that involved a long stay in the hospital, many surgeries and a lot of down time.

it killed me to be in a different state as her, to not be there to talk and laugh together. and mostly i just wanted to help comfort her.

so i got to work.

i knew i wanted to make her something happy, uplifting and snugly.

i went to the ent (ear, nose and throat specialist) because i have been struggling to get adequate (or any) use out of the left side of my nose.

turns out i an not crazy (weird) and i have a super bad deviated septum due to multiple nose breaks, all of which i have no memory of. lucky me, i have one of the worst deviations he has seen.

he then asked if i wanted to see and let's be honest who wouldn't?!

so for the whole world to see this is the inside of my nose!

right side: cute right?

left side: almost total blockage.

now what to do about it.

i think everyone who is female and has eyeballs has been dying over urban decay and their amazing eye shadow. but since i am not good at eye shadow yet (i know, it's crazy) i can't justify the kabillion dollars this pallet costs.

i was at walmart recently (again, crazy) and i found this gem!

it is no urban decay but at least there are some cute colors so i can get my learning on.

my friend michelle took a photography class this last semester and wanted (wanted) to take pictures of me for an assignment she had. why she wanted to deliberately fail an assignment is beyond me.

anyhooooo i said yes and off we went on styling a steampunk photo shoot.

michelle is awesome she made my awkward less present which is pretty hard to do.

this was the best of the bunch.

and if you think i look bizarre then look up steampunk and it will all make sense.

tonight the husband and i thought the mixing bowls were better used as fake pregnant bellies because we are immature and find humor in dumb things. we laughed at how huge we both looked and then i looked in the mirror and cried a little inside.

it was like i had gone back in time 5.5 months. i didn't realize how big of a mixing bowl i had right before i had clive.

oh, well.

it was for a good cause right?

at least the recovery was much easier this time. ha!

i grew up in california and was cursed with skin that wouldn't hold a tan past september 1st.

as i grew older my desire for bronze skin deepened. left and right i got comments on how white i was wouldn't help, it only fueled the fire. even in my phys ed class i would lather my legs in baby oil hoping to catch a few rays.

fast forward to 22 and a weird mole sends me to the derm. three spots removed and 21 stitches later i was cancer free (pre cancer but still...)

(and i haven't been back to the derm since then which is like a huge deal)

fast forward to now, i am white as a sheet and i have no desire to be in the sun because to me not getting cancer is right up there with inhale exhale. but the comments have made me feel bad about myself; frumpy and stale. like somehow having a golden hue makes you perky and fresh. so i ventured to the walmart for a tan in the sun-less form. i happened upon a spray that promised me bronze legs in no time.

since i am not a total idiot i did a trial spritz on my tummy.

everything went perfectly.

and then this happened:

orange. i am like an orangutan.

and then this happened:

those would be hives.

anniversary

happy 6 years to us!

we are pretty low key when it comes to our anniversary, so dinner and a movie was perfect for us.

thanks to a wonderful mother-in-law we got to spend our evening kid free!

i have never been a lipstick wearer but have always wanted to be, it seems more womanly than lip gloss. and i recently found the most amazing lipstick line, they come in the prettiest colors and are so dreamy to wear.

in celebration of mother's day, i spent the night at rachel's house without most of my kids! in this picture henry and clive got there bonding on.

rachel basically wore my whole closet and jewelry box to church (not really), she looked uber fly.

after church the family and i met up at the in-laws for some grandkid traps. man, hand a kid a mini sized vehicle and you will never see them again.

and while the kids were being babysat, i discovered i would be a super boring human being if i were not a mom. (i am so attractive, my husband is a lucky man)

grandpa then tortured clive.

but clivey soon got over it.

Yesterday on facebook I blasted to the universe that I have put on five pounds. Five. That's quite a bit for a small framed lady.

Also, what the crap? I thought that once I had the baby that the weight would come off not back on! And I am nursing too! Where is the justice in that?

There is none so stop looking.

So fatty mcbutterpants (that's me.) is getting her self in shape. Y'all know I have been running but I am going to add some serious training in the mix. I just want to be like regular butter. You know?

Rachel took me out on a date tonight.

We got food (a sweeto--think the best burrito ever), went to target where I thought I lost a huge amount of money, discovered that I am indeed still to chunky to wear cute skirts, and then headed back to her place for some onesie making and snl.

We even discussed hymns we want sung at our funerals (don't worry my song choice is completely depressing).

considering it was 4 pm i decided it was time to get dressed and run some errands today. while running around liam and suze spotted a certain ice cream cone and since it was basically dinner time i decided we should go.

nielsens is always a good decision.

i mean just look at those faces, they deserve good things.

i sent this picture to my sil (she loves her some nielsens) giving her one guess as to where we were eating.

slightly unrelated, the bun i sported on our outing. it was huge. while trying to get out of the car i must had hit my head at least 70 times.

i was texting with my sister-in-law last night and today about whether or not she should summer up her hair and it got me thinking about my own locks.

something is missing.

i have the length i want, so that leaves color. but which route should i go-- all over color, highlights, peek-a-boos, is it too late to ombre? i went looking around my "hair lust" folder on my computer (what? don't judge) and i came up with these:

utah

i feel like i should maybe buy a house there because i am there almost once a month.

moving on, we took a quick trip this weekend to utah to celebrate my parents 40th.

traveling with a small nursing baby is tough and it requires some humbling experiences, oh like pumping in the passenger seat while flying down the freeway. doesn't sound bad but try doing it and not spilling a drop of the liquid platinum. it takes some serious skill.

don't tell my mom but i had to completely unbuckle and climb in the back to feed the babe.

we walked in the door and i threw the present i made at them. they love the quilt but i think i snuggled with it more this weekend than they did. we spent the rest of the evening eating stake, mashed potatoes and the best fruit salad ever, good times.

what is a trip to utah without hitting the ikea? no trip i say, plus liam needed a new bed. so aaron and i went on a little mini date where we took entirely too long to eating and taking unflattering pictures of each other.

for real, i blame my husband for the awful pictures and not my lack of modeling skills.

that evening we had the yummiest desserts, my fave was this little thing with chocolate and vanilla mousse.

sadly we headed home early, good thing too because i was tired.

here is a question, will susie's hair ever look normal? i swear her hair looks like a hot mess within seconds.

40th

my parents celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this last week and i finished their present just in time. like just. in. time.

i present to you the hardest sewing project i have ever done!

i love my parents so much, they are such good examples to me of what a marriage is.

together they have gone through life's up and downs; births, deaths, demanding work schedules, church callings, grandkids, illnesses and family vacations.

and they faced it head on, together. life isn't perfect and any married couple knows that marriage isn't perfect but my parents have proved that it can be done and be enjoyed.

i love you both dearly. happy 40th.
