A brand new PUBG Mobile update has caused some users to experience issues with the game. With the update being rolled out by Tencent today, mobile players are reporting that they are unable to find matches with squadmates, or that they are being faced with PUBG Mobile not updating altogether. Let’s take a look at any potential fixes for this issue, statements from Tencent regarding the error, or if there are potential workarounds in order to get battle royale players back on their feet.

PUBG Mobile Not Updating Explained

The error is most likely a bug that was unexpected for the developers of the mobile version of the battle royale game. This error could have anything to do with the online servers, a strange glitch in the latest update, or even a side-effect of maintenance carried out on the game on both Android and iOS.

The official PUBG Mobile Twitter account hasn’t released a statement regarding the issue, with the account remaining silent when it comes to any potential fixes or why players are facing this new issue.

PUBG Mobile Not Updating Fix: Here’s What You Can Do

Regardless of the reason behind the PUBG Mobile Update Error, here’s what you can do. First and foremost, keep an eye on the mobile version’s Twitter to see any update regarding this error. With the account not having addressed the problem, it’s always worth sending out a tweet and hoping for a response.

Beyond that, though, there are a few other things you can do to ensure everything is good on your end and potentially fix the PUBG Mobile Update Error. Make sure that your internet connection is working well, and that you are able to watch videos and download apps.

PUBG Lite is a free, low-spec version of PUBG that's now in beta testing

PUBG Lite is kicking off its open beta test today.

PUBG Lite is a new free-to-play game based on the PC version of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. It was quietly revealed recently, and enters open beta today.

This early phase will see PUBG Lite available only in Thailand, but the official announcement does confirm it could expand to more locations in the future.

At present, the test is limited to select countries in Southeast Asia, but PUBG Corp. said the test will help determine if this this version is a “viable product for other regions.”

According to the website, PUBG Lite includes Erangel, Miramar, as well as the game’s training mode. The biggest change is of course the much reduced system requirements compared to the base version.

"To this end, the PUBG Lite team has focused on balancing lower hardware requirements, without compromising on our quality standards. The end result is a build that is playable even on computers and laptops utilizing integrated graphics."

PUBG Lite will be a standalone game, with its own development team and content creation stream, and will support solo, duo, and squad play in third-person perspective. Beta players will do battle on Erangel, the original PUBG map, but more "maps and content familiar to PUBG players" will be added at some point down the road. For now, the beta is only available in Thailand, but assuming it goes reasonably smoothly I would expect that market to broaden in the relatively near future.

I also expect it will lead into some interesting questions about the game's future. Will a free PUBG cannibalize the premium version? Is PUBG Corp really going to support separate development tracks for what is essentially the same game—and for how long? And if it's possible to make the game run reasonably well on an Intel HD4000 chipset, why not focus the effort on the existing version, rather than splitting into separate branches?

PUBG Corp said it will continue to analyze feedback and share updates on the beta as it progresses.

Call of Duty is a first-person shooter video game franchise. Starting out in 2003, it first focused on games set in World War II, but over time, the series has seen games set in modern times, the midst of the Cold War, futuristic worlds, and outer space. Facepalm: If you’re in Nepal and switched to a VPN when PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds stopped working last Thursday, then we’ve got some bad news: you’re liable for prosecution. Nepal has officially banned PUBG to stop addiction and to prevent violence.

Senior Superintendent of Police Dhiraj Pratap Singh received eight letters from schools and twenty-five letters from parents complaining about the violent and addictive nature of PUBG last month, and that was the final straw. The game simply had to be banned to protect youth.

After discussing the issue with psychiatrists that agreed PUBG was just too dangerous, Singh went to the Kathmandu District Court on Wednesday and requested approval to ban the game. After hearing facts like ‘lots of other countries have banned the game’ and ‘violent games cause violent behavior’ that can be disproved with a Google search or a peruse through TechSpot’s articles on the topic, the court agreed.

On Thursday the court sent a letter to the National Telecommunications Authority requesting that PUBG is immediately banned, and the NTA distributed the message to all ISPs, mobile operators and network providers in the country. They all blocked the game. As of Thursday, playing PUBG in Nepal became a punishable offense.

While PUBG can be dangerously addictive, even causing two reported suicides in India, there are much more effective solutions, like general support or therapy. Because let’s be real, getting around a ban like this is a piece of cake, just download a free VPN. And the idea that PUBG could potentially cause real violence is preposterous, it’s barely violent on the scale of violent videogames and even the worst of the worst have been proven to have no perceptible impact on behavior.

This isn’t a protection of youth, it’s a demonstration of scientific and technological illiteracy.
