My hyper-embarrassment reflex went off the charts when I tried to watch this.

Oh, and an important note: This was actually produced by BlackBerry and published on their YouTube channel. Really, it's not a joke. Here part of the video description:

This video is a thank you to all developers supporting the BlackBerry platform. Your Developer Relations, Alliance and Developer Tools teams appreciate your enthusiasm and loyalty! We're Going To Keep On Loving You.

It's In The Turn, Not The Prestige

noreply@blogger.com (Anonymous) — Thu, 13 Sep 2012 16:30:00 +0000

Apple's Magic Is In The Turn, Not The Prestige

Well written opinion by MG Siegler on the new iPhone 5. Subjective for sure, but he makes a solid argument against the "I'm-disappointed-because-it-doesn't-look-different-enough" crowd.

Look at the main video being displayed on Apple’s homepage. It’s several Apple executives talking about just what went into pulling off turning the ordinary smartphone into something extraordinary. Yes, again.
To some, this repetition is now boring. But I think Apple looks at it the opposite way: they’re perfecting their trick.

H8 WRKN

A friend of my coworker took this picture after the Cardinal's game on Sunday.

Nothing goes better with your "H8 WRKN" license plate than a coordinating bumper sticker.

Thanks Gary

Adoption Date is Set!

noreply@blogger.com (Anonymous) — Fri, 24 Aug 2012 20:29:00 +0000

Lord willing, A will be legally adopted into our family on Thursday, November 1st, 2012. We have been abundantly blessed by her over the last eight months and we are so excited to have her in our family forever.

A came to live with us eight months ago at a little less than eleven months old. She is now a year and a half old...about five months older than Norah and a year younger than Georgia.

Excited for the day when I can post real pictures...but these will do for now. A is on the right in both pictures:

Astute Prediction from Gruber regarding the upcoming Apple annoucements...

noreply@blogger.com (Anonymous) — Fri, 24 Aug 2012 04:04:00 +0000

Sharing the Stage:

I’m thinking it makes more sense for Apple to hold two events. First, an iPhone event, focused solely on the new iPhone and iOS 6. Then, the iPhone ships nine days later, and there’s another wave of iPhone-focused attention as the reviews come out. Then, in the first or second week of October, Apple holds its traditional “music event”, exactly along the lines of the events at which they’ve been debuting new iPods for the last decade.

This is in contrast to the rumors that Apple will be announcing the iPhone 5 and the new iPad Mini (or iPad Air, or whatever name suits Apple) on September 12.

Double

noreply@blogger.com (Anonymous) — Tue, 21 Aug 2012 03:05:00 +0000

Interesting concept... and I love the name.

It's a long-distance remote control Segway-like robot 'double' for $2K (iPad not included).

Cool, but I thought the point of technological advances was to ensure I never had to have another conversation with anyone ever...? Well, anyway, check out the video:

Your iPhone can detect your pulse... How you ask?

noreply@blogger.com (Anonymous) — Tue, 14 Aug 2012 03:42:00 +0000

There's an iPhone app in the App Store called "Cardiio" that uses a technology called Video Color Amplification to detect your pulse through the iPhone's camera. I had never heard of this technology before, but it's pretty amazing. Check out this video for a (sort of technical) explanation of how it works. (the most interesting part begins at 1:30)

7 minutes of Terror

noreply@blogger.com (Anonymous) — Mon, 06 Aug 2012 16:16:00 +0000

The Mars Rover Curiosity touched down successfully last night, August 5th, 2012, at 10:31 PDT. Mars is 154 million miles away.

"From the top of the atmosphere down to the surface, it takes us seven minutes. It takes fourteen minutes or so for the signal from the spacecraft to make it to earth, that's how far Mars is away from us. So when we first get word that we've touched the top of the atmosphere, the vehicle has been alive... or dead... on the surface for at least seven minutes."

And then a well deserved Nerd-fest ensued:
