So, I'm following this new series...Shameless. I learned about this from my ever reliable TV guru, Mindy TV and I have the same reaction to the first episode. WOW!!!

Anyway, episode 2 will surely have a lot of (angry) reaction from the blogosphere. Especially from the Filipino's. It's because of this line:

"What are you, a tough guy, Steve? You think you're a tough guy? Because you look like a premenstrual Filipino." - Frank

This is Desperate Housewives all over again. I wonder if they would ask everyone to boycott William H. Macy just like a lot of bloggers did to Teri Hatcher. I still don't know why they used this comparison though ... can somebody explain? ^_^

I got a call a few minutes ago from an unknown number - 050 5498130, saying that my number won AED 200,000 and that I should claim it from Dubai Islamic Bank.

I couldn't understand the guy properly so I asked him to repeat whatever he said. If I did win 200K, I should make sure that I have the correct information, right?? When I asked him what company he is working for, he just said that I should call him back using the same number so he can give me all the information.

That sounded fishy to me. So I called Etisalat (service provider) and tried to get any information about this number. The moment I said that I received a call and I won a prize, the agent immediately said that this is a scam. He advised that I call the police and report the incident so they can trace the number.

Anyway, I tried calling this number again....just to test. Nice guy did not pick up. So definitely this is a scam. Remember this number: 050 5498130. Don't get scammed!

And I thought this topic would be easy...
I mean, what can you say about an icon? The man who made his own generation?

Probably 20 years from now, people won't even remember him or feel his impact. I could be feeling this way simply because I grew up with his music and influence. I was an 80's kid. I grew up with songs like Billie Jean, Beat it and Thriller.

When I was 8 years old, we sang We Are The World at every school presentation. In 1987, Bad (the album) was released. Being kids, my brother and I were always asked to perform during family gatherings (ok, ok..my brother would get asked to perform only because I'm shy.. HAHA!!).

I remember hearing Bad, The Way You Make Me Feel, Smooth Criminal, Man In The Mirror, I Just Can't Stop Loving You being played on the radio. I'm not really interested who sang the songs...I'm not interested in anything at all! I just wanted to play and play and play, just like any other kid would. But because these songs were played over and over again, I memorized them by heart.

I was already in High School when the Dangerous album came out. The music video of Black or White was the talk of the town. Morphing was just new technology and I remember my peers talking about it animatedly. Remember the Time, Heal the World, Will You Be There and Gone Too Soon were just some of the tracks. By this time, he was already fair skinned.

HIStory was released in 1995. A two disc compilation of his best singles and some new ones. I remember watching Scream music video in MTV. I loved the collaboration. Brother and sister, both very talented. This album also contained the song You Are Not Alone, a ballad that was the theme of every other couple during that time, and the very controversial They Don't Really Care About Us.

I could still go on and list the remaining albums released but unfortunately I was not really into his music by this time. I felt disconnected already. With all the controversies he has endured and all the publicities, face and color change, accusations and trials, I got less interested in his music and just got fascinated by his life. I think he is just one misunderstood person. He was lonely and confused.

He was Michael Jackson.

August 29, 1958 - June 25, 2009

He may be weird, perceived as a wacko ... let's not forget that he is also a philanthropist and a very talented entertainer. I'd rather remember him for the good things he has done.

HIMYM Marathon

Here I am, 5 years too late, watching How I Met Your Mother. I know the show is funny, I know my friends rave about it, I know I should watch it but I didn't. Now out of the blue, we started watching the series and we are doing a marathon every night (5 - 8 episodes).

It is a funny show. I love how it reminds me of FRIENDS but its totally different. For the second time, I wish I have friends like them (of course I'd still choose Monica, Chandler, Rachel, Ross, Phoebe and Joey over them)

We are currently at season 3. I'm sure we will be able to catch up before the 6th season airs in October.

The First Man I Ever Loved

He was my first and probably my last. My tatay.

He taught me a lot and he sacrificed a lot, not only for me but for all of us. I never really saw him much while I was a child. He was always away. His job required him to be off shore for 2 or more years, then he'd spend a couple of months with us. I was almost in high school when he decided to retire and concentrate on business.

That was a difficult transition for all of us. He didn't know what to do and we didn't know how to deal with him. But everything went well in the end.

Even though he was away most of the time, he made sure to give us advice and share his wisdom. I remember receiving a letter from him saying that I should choose my friends well. That friends are like a basket of apples, expect some of them to be rotten. He said that I have to choose good apples. I didn't understand him then. I got what he meant, but I defended my friends, good apples or not.

When I grew older and was already in a relationship, he reminded me of one thing. That I should never ever accept money from guys. Doesn't matter if it is given voluntarily, a lady should not accept such gifts. I wish I followed his advice. I told him that I did not ask for money, it's given to me freely. In the end, my father was right. My (ex) bf and I broke up and of course the money issue came up.

I know it would seem that I never followed my father's advice, but I kept them in mind. Now that I've learned the lesson first hand, his words have more impact on me now. My tatay is a man of few words. What he lacked in words, he compensated with action. He taught us to persevere in times of crisis. He showed us how to use our wings but he let us fly alone to discover things for ourselves. I am what I am because of my parents. I am strong because of the first man in my life, the first man I ever loved.

I love you Tatay. Happy Father's Day!

Beyoncé is considering scrapping her 'Single Ladies' dance routine for live performances, according to reports.

The singer is considering ditching the routine, which has been mimicked by artists including Liza Minnelli, Joe Jonas and Justin Timberlake, because she does not want to be part of the joke.

All Time Favorite TV Show

Now this one is a no brainer. There is only one, and I say ONE show that I could really really say "My Favorite". This show made me laugh, giggle like a school girl, cry, laugh some more and it even made me cry and laugh at the same time!

I got hooked with FRIENDS 2 years before it decided to air its last season. In high school, I was able to catch some episodes in a local channel in the Philippines but I wasn't in to TV back then. When I came to Dubai, I got nothing else to do (aside from work, of course). Since I was just starting my life here, I didn't have any TV or any player. We would watch DVD's using a friend's desktop computer.

That's when I decided to do a marathon of FRIENDS. By season 5, I already have my own TV and player. I've moved to a bigger place and actually shared them with friends. I realized living with real friends can be a pain in the butt. Yeah, we had a good time but the bad times were too much so we decided to split.

But my relationship with Monica, Chandler, Ross, Rachel, Joey and Phoebe is different. They really keep me company. Maybe that's why I never really felt homesick. When the dreaded season 10 came, I had to take a break. I didn't want it to end. I was in tears when they did their final bow (oh gad, I'm welling up just writing about it!)

I bought the boxed set the moment it was released in Dubai. To date, I have not opened it. If I need my FRIENDS fix, I use my old DVD's. I'm going to hand down my boxed set to my children...it will be a family heirloom. LOL!

Pretty Little Liars

I've just watched the premiere of Pretty Little Liars, the newest in ABC. I say this looks promising. It's like Gossip Girl meets Desperate Housewives with a "I Know What You Did Last Summer" kind of theme.

The first episode left me with a lot of questions and I'm really looking forward to the next one.

Lost - The End

Three days late and still here I am writing my reaction to the recently concluded series: LOST. I've watched LOST since the beginning. Altho I must admit that I was only able to watch it when it was already mid way in season 2.

We had a season one marathon and the raft scene got me hooked. As they say, the rest is history. But not really. The whole experience kept my brains in a tight twist until I just stopped caring altogether. I continued watching but I never bothered with the details anymore because deep inside I knew my questions will NEVER be answered.

And LOST lived up to its title...I was lost till the very end. I must admit that it was still a clever way of ending the series that got me saying WTF?!! almost every episode. As I was watching The End (final episode), I kept my notepad open and just wrote down my notes/reactions.

1. Some flashbacks made me laugh, most of them made me cry. I liked the way Hugo fondly talked to Charlie (who still does not "remember"). Same thing with the Kwon's and Sawyer.

2. Jack Shephard definitely looked HOOOOT in season one. He should have just kept his hair short like that. YUM YUM!

3. Claire got fat, Boone looked OOOLLLDDD.

4. Correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I know, airplanes don't have "reverse" mode. They are "pushed back" from the gate to the taxi way.

5. Who is that lady that adopted Jacob and ..... that other guy that did not have name a.k.a. man in black a.k.a. smoke monster? What was she doing in the island and how did she get there?

6. What did Sawyer whisper to Kate before he jumped from the helicopter?

7. If Juliet was able to detonate the nuclear bomb (which could have caused her death), how come Sawyer was still able to leave the island via the airplane? Did they all die that day hence the "flash sideways" where they will be "living" until they are ready to move on?

~~I think I just answered that one. LOL.~~

Edit: This kept me up all night. They did not die of the nuclear bomb explosion because they had different deaths after that (Sayid, Sun and Jin on the Sub, etc). So, how were they able to survive the explosion???

And still, I want to know what happened to them...did they live happily? Did Kate and Sawyer got together when they left the island since Juliet and Jack are no more? (that is IF they were really able to leave the island... gaaah)

Anyway, however they want to end the show...it was still a good run. I will miss them surely.

Private Practice Season 3 Finale

I have been following Private Practice since the start. I fell in love with Addison Montgomery from Grey's Anatomy so I followed her to Los Angeles. (Well not really... I'm still stuck in Dubai, but you know what I mean)

It has been a roller coaster ride with Private Practice. I learned to love other characters such as Charlotte, (the urologist and resident sexologist of Oceanside Wellness Group), Dell Parker (the hunky receptionist/nurse) and Sheldon (funny little guy who is actually a psychiatrist in Pacific Wellcare Group). I have to admit, Addie has become pathetic with the sleeping around and whatnots. For some reason I just kept on watching the show.

I have been meaning to blog about this since the season ended a week ago but I did not want to spoil anything for those who have not watched it (as if I have followers, LOL)

It was not a "WOW-hand-me-the-tissue" kind of ending. Maybe because I'm getting bored with the storyline. What I do not get is why did they kill Dell? Can somebody tell me?

In my opinion, Dell is the only person in that practice that's got a good head on his shoulders.

SAVE Life Unexpected!!

I learned about this series from my ever reliable tv addict friend and I got hooked! I was able to watch 10 episodes in 3 days. I love the story. One can easily relate to the story and I love the banter! And of course, BAZE!!

Unfortunately, Lux's story might get cut short. :(

As for those CW fan faves, I'm still hearing from reliable insiders that it's likely Life Unexpected and One Tree Hill will get shortened season pickups for fall, with 12 or 13 episodes apiece; however, no final decisions have been made.

I called the bank two days ago and asked if I can defer my loan repayment. Guess what? Not possible. The first thing the agent told me was this:

"If you will not pay your loan, you will be charged penalty."

Are you trying to intimidate me???

I argued that the reason why I got a loan from them is because I was told that I can postpone my payments anytime.

It just irks me because they keep on giving me crappy reasons for not giving in to my request. They said that the policy changed. Then how come the deferment option is still mentioned in their list of fees??

"Uhhh, because those are for locals only, madam."

Are you discriminating me???

I asked for a copy of the policy, and they told me this:

"Madam, go to your branch"

So much for convenience!

Another Weird Night

I just remembered that a few weeks ago, I met with this business partner. In the same mall.
The moment we arrived at the mall, while looking for the parking entrance, a valet was apparently trying to get our attention. But because we were trying to get there ON TIME, I didn't notice.

Then this guy (dunno what nationality...probably british) driving a 4 x 4 signaled for me to pull over. So I did. He just told me that the valet from the hotel was calling me. Simply told him that I didn't really come from the hotel, I just passed by trying to find the parking.

But deep inside, I already had this nagging feeling that something is wrong. Guess what?! When I finally found a parking space, the next thing I checked were my tires. True enough, my front passenger tire was busted. A-GAIN!

I'm beginning to think this person and this mall is really bad news for me!

Necrophilia vs. Bestiality

Sorry to disappoint you folks, but this is a wholesome post. This will be my review for the movie New Moon. LOL.

I finally watched the movie yesterday and all I could think of was how buff Taylor Lautner is!! O - M - GEEE!!! I guess the best thing about it is there are no silly school girls screaming in the movie house. I love love love the effects!!

Most of the important scenes were already shown in promotional clips (youtube, hello!!) So there really wasn't anything to watch anymore. Edward fans would crucify me for this but for me.... bestiality wins! I'm a sucker for bad boys =D.

I love Jacob because:

He's hot. Literally hot. If you live in a place where it's really cold, then having a hot boyfriend is a must.
He's big! I'm a tall girl and I really need somebody big to carry me. LOL
He's witty. He can really make me laugh.
He's playful. I need that in life. I don't want to grow old prematurely!!
He's loyal.

Ok, Edward has his own plus points... and he's meant for Bella. They belong together. I love Edward for Bella. Jacob is mine! LOL

A Weird Night

Two nights ago we were going to meet a business partner at her house. However, this is the first time we'll be going there. This is unfamiliar territory for me. Originally, the plan was to meet at 8 pm, but, of course, at the last minute she called us up to say that we have to be there at 7:30.

Ohhh the pressure!! As expected, we couldn't find the way. The instructions were unclear.

"Go straight, if you see Rotana, take left. Round about right. Straight"

First, which road do we take? And which Rotana? There are like three Rotana's in that area. We turned left but there was no round about....what now?

It was already 8 and we still have not found our way. We just decided to meet at the mall. Once in the parking, I took a parking ticket/stub so I'd know where I put my car. Coz by gaaaaad!! We're already late, we can't afford to lose the car in the middle of this huge parking lot!

Anyway, that's exactly what happened. I lost my car! Yep, even with the stub. I so hate that mall!! Took me about 10 minutes before I found it. Apparently there was a "mezzanine" for every floor. The reason why I can't find my car is because the elevator does not stop at these mezzanine floors. Gaah!

My business partner rode with us so that we won't get lost trying to find her house again. The meeting went fine. But when we went to her garage, my front tire was flat! Susme lang talagang kamalasan. Since these are "locals", we didn't even expect them to help. Its already 12 MN. And so for the very first time nagpalit ako ng gulong! (I changed the tire with a little help from my little cousin! LOL)

But of course, when I was all done, the spare tire is also flat! It's such a cruel joke, universe!! I had to drive really slow till we got to a petrol station and had some air pumped.

Despite the weirdness, it was a good night.

Frustration

Some people are just so judgmental! They now say that I resigned from my post as moderator because of the recent issue. Duh!! That happened seven months ago. Why resign now?

In case it's not clear enough, the resignation was a team decision. We had internal and personal reasons for exiting. And when I say personal reasons, this has got to do with our personal lives in the REAL WORLD.

Another comment I got was that, "masyado ka nagpapaka SANTA". Santa Clause? LOL. This comment came from... uh... wait... ANONYMOUS!

Anyway, maybe you just can't comprehend what I'm trying to say. Maybe you just can't let go. Maybe you are a lot of things that I am not.

So yeah, I am frustrated. Because I just want this to end. I feel no anger. Just frustration.

Saint - Sinner

I just don't understand why until now people won't let go. Ok, I know you are now wary of posting in the forum or in your blogs. That's just normal. But c'mon, this did not happen to you. You weren't the victim here. And they already apologized to us. That should be the end of it.

Just to show how much I appreciate their reaching out to me, I'll share some excerpts of our conversations. (Yep, I have been in constant communication with them after everything)

"We understand how you feel about being the "laughing stock" and all, because at one point we all have been. And the truth is everyone CAN RIDICULE and BE RIDICULED. We know what we have done is wrong, and that why we are asking for an apology.

It is quite not fair to reveal our personal contact information just so for everyone to see. Whatever past issues we had, we wanted this to end so as to help you and others release their hatred against us. We do hope that with this letter, you will erase those public blog posts so everyone can start with a clean slate. No more obvious messages attacking us in the boards, and we will do the same. We know this may take a while but we hope we could put this "online war" a thing of the past. It was never our intention that the contents of the blog would go out of public. Again, it is a private conversation among friends. We apologize if things got out of hand and if we hurt people along the way."

If I may ask, WHO AMONG YOU (yes you whoever you are who's reading this) HAVE NOT, AT ANY POINT, RIDICULED SOMEONE? Don't tell me you are so perfect that you and you're friends have not laughed at somebody. Lahat naman tayo may na OKRAY na in public, what more kung kayo kayo na lang ng mga kaibigan mo?

I won't pretend to be clean and I will admit that even I have said some ugly stuff to other people (whether in GT or not). I too have been a bully at some point. I'm human after all. That is why I was able to forgive them. Because in my mind and in my heart, I would want to be forgiven too.

And this, for me, really showed their sincerity:

I know we already sent apologies on you. But I want to make it a personal apology on my part.

I know I admit I went a little too overboard on defacing pictures and thinking about it I know it is very wrong and I'm very sorry. I just realized how shallow I was for doing that not even knowing you personally. There are lots of lessons I learned on this issue and one of them is about respecting people and opinions.

Again, I would like to say sorry to you. I'm not expecting that you will accept it, but at least I tried to reach out to you and let you know my deepest apologies. I know how you feel when you vent out your anger and I understand it. I just want to end all the commotions and stir it caused. "

A New Beginning

I woke up feeling better today.

I'm glad I did what I did because it really helped me a lot. I'm no longer carrying this heavy baggage and it feels so much better knowing that we no longer have to pretend that nothing happened. I would really like to thank them for reaching out, somehow.

As I've said, we just didn't have the chance to be friends. I'm sure they're good people too but hey, we all make mistakes. We all act stupid sometimes. (I just hope everyone else would give them another chance.)

Another thing that really hit me today is that I really am no longer a moderator. My permissions are now removed. I'm back to being a regular member. As much as it is a relief to be free from the responsibility of keeping the forum clean, I kind of miss my "delete/move" buttons. LOL!

Don't get me wrong, this is in no way a power trip rant. It's just that old habits are hard to break. It has been three years and everyday when I log in the first thing I'd see are the RTM's. Some are real issues, some are petty. Some are funny, some are just "hay naku!" reports.

Now I don't see those reports anymore. I just browse the threads and every now and then I'd chance upon some posts that would be considered as a violation. I'd automatically look for my "buttons". LOL.

Anyway, its a good day for starting over.

I would like everyone to know that they have apologized for their actions and this is all I need. I wish for everyone to forget about this issue and let's start with a new slate.

I also hope that this experience taught us something.
