How to Watch Star Wars on Command Prompt using Telnet

This is old but gold ~ If you not already know, there is a complete copy of Star Wars done entirely in ASCII characters out there that you can watch using Command Prompt in the Windows operating system (or any OS that supports Telnet). The only thing that you need is an internet connection.

To watch it on Windows XP, Mac OS X and Linux

1. Go to Start > Run. (for Windows users)
2. Type Telnet Towel.blinkenlights.nl and press Enter.
3. Users of Mac OS X and Linux can directly execute this code in the terminal window.

On Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8

Telnet is turned off by default in the latest versions of Windows. To enable it, go to Control Panel > Program And Features > Turn Windows Features On or Off > Tick > Telnet Client > Ok. Then:-

1. Go to Start, Search in Windows Vista and Windows 7. On Windows 8, open the main Start page
2. Type Telnet Towel.blinkenlights.nl and press Enter

OR open Command Prompt and type Telnet Towel.blinkenlights.nl

If you done watching, you can turn the Telnet off.

Creating a 404 Error landing page is a best practice not only to a search engine but also for your website visitor. A customize 404 error page is proven helpful and friendly rather than the standard browser-issued version. Below are the defaults in what we can see in blogspot.

“Sorry, the page you were looking for in this blog does not exist.”

What is a 404 error page?

A 404 error is an HTTP status code expected as a result when a website is unable to return a given request or there is no URL to deliver. Technically, an Error 404 is a client-side error; implying that the error is your mistake, either because you got the URL wrong or the page has been moved or removed from the website. Another possibility is if a website has moved a page or resource but did so without redirecting the old URL to the new one. When that happens, you'll receive a 404 error instead of being automatically routed to the new page.

Well to simplify the whole thing, it’s just the way the servers tell you that you’re out of luck, the webpage you wanted is broken or missing, and you can’t see it, not now or maybe not ever. So go away!. The reason doesn’t matter.

Other than that, this issue matters to your SEO efforts. If the search engine spiders cannot find a default 404 page on your site, you’ve just thrown a dead end in front of them and they have no way to get over. Search engines can’t hit the Back button or use the other advanced features on your Web site. All they can do is follow links. If they come across a bad link and you don’t give them anywhere else to go, they’ll leave your site. This may result in entire sections of your site not being indexed. Creating a custom 404 page that includes links to other pages on your site helps prevent this from happening. You have to give the engines something to follow.

How to Add a Custom Error Page (Page Not Found) on Blogger?

Here I will share with you how to create your own landing page for 404 Error Page on blogspot like a pro.

[1] Go to Blogger Dashboard >> Select Blog >> Select Settings tab >> Search Preferences
[2] Find Custom Page Not Found, if not set click Edit

A lifetime of Amazing Generosity - Meet 98-year-old Dobri Dobrev

Some people call him an ‘Angel Among People’. This is the story of a man, who has nothing, but a good heart. Thus, he manages to help a significant number of poor people, children, orphanages and churches.

Dobri Dobrev, 98-year-old Bulgarian WWII veteran, lost his hearing long time ago during the war. This, however, does not stop him to do what he does.

Each and every day he walks more than 10 kilometers from his village, in his homemade clothes and leather shoes to Sofia, the capital city of Bulgaria. There he spends the entire day begging for money. He greets everyone, kisses their hands, reads their lips when they tell him something and with his children’s sparkling blue eyes wishes everyone good health and God’s grace. He is not a beggar, though. At least not one who begs for himself.

It was only recently discovered that he has donated every penny he has collected - over 40,000 Euros ($52 000) for the restoration of decaying Bulgarian churches, monasteries and the utility bills of orphanages, while living entirely off his monthly state pension of 80 Euros ($103) and the kindness of others.

Just to know, in Bulgarian almost every name means something. ‘Dobro’ means ‘good’, so Dobri Dobrev pretty much translates to Good Goody.

The World’s Largest Ice Cave In Salzburg, Austria

The Eisriesenwelt (German for "World of the Ice Giants") is a natural limestone ice cave located in Werfen, Austria, about 40 km south of Salzburg. It is extending more than 42km and though only the first kilometer is covered in ice, it is still the largest of its kind .

The cave is open from May to October, visited by approximately 200,000 tourists every year and only the first kilometer of the cave are allowed to be explored.

Eisriesenwelt Cave was formed by the Salzach river, which flowed through the mountain eroding passageways. The ice formations in the cave were formed by thawing snow which drained into the cave and froze during winter. Since the entrance to the cave is open year-round, chilly winter winds blow into the cave and freeze the snow inside. In summer, a cold wind from inside the cave blows toward the entrance and prevents the formations from melting.

Eisriesenwelt was discovered by Anton Posselt, a natural scientist from Salzburg, in 1879. Before his discovery, the cave was known only to locals, who, believing that it was an entrance to Hell, refused to explore it. One year later he published a detailed report of his discovery in a mountaineering magazine. And then later in 1912, a group of several expeditions into the cave was led by Alexander von Mörk, a speleologist from Salzburg, which were soon followed by other explorers.

How to Set Up a Custom Domain on Blogger for Name.com

So this is step by step tutorial on how to set a custom domain to your Blogger account. Noted that this tutorial is for the domain that was purchase from Name.com, but does not necessarily useless for others domain registrar.

Here we go:-

1. Open your Blogger account, click on Settings and choose Basic

2. Then click Add a custom domain under Blog Address field in Publishing section.
3. Click Switch to advanced settings.
4. Put your domain name on the field and click Save.

Note: Blogger only accepts non-naked domains in the sign-up process; otherwise most probably resulting in error. Naked domain for example ~ yourdomain.com. So you have to put a subdomain as a prefix for example, www.yourdomain.com or blog.yourdomain.com

5. Once this process done, you will see two CNAME records which should be seen as shown in the picture below

6. Now login to your Name.com Account and click the domain name

7. On the right hand side under Control Panel in the Domain Management, click DNS Record Management

8. So this is a DNS Management panel for Name.com

9.Now using the data earlier, fill in the field and click Add Record.

Type	Host	Answer	TTL
CNAME	www	ghs.google.com	1800
CNAME	geXXXXXXXhzur	gv-XXXXXX.domainverify.googlehosted.com	1800

10. Now again add another 4 DNS record with the following value and hit Add Record

11. Now lastly go back to your Blogger dashboard earlier and click save.

And that's it! It may take up to a couple of hours for Blogger to verify the settings created for your domain.

How to Remove a Domain from Google Apps

Before, I had my domain hosted on paid hosting for about a year. Later on, I decided to use Blogger.com for hosting. Anyway, I got the domain from Name.com for about $8.99 after a coupon discount. For me, Name.com is my first choice for a Domain Name Registration. The service is great and as for right now I already have two domain from this site.

Ok, back to the topic at hand. After purchasing the domain and hosted it on paid hosting, I have enable the Google Apps services provided by Name.com. But because of that, I got an error warning that says *Another blog or Google Site is already using this address when I want to set up the domain on Blogger.com. It means that I had to disable or remove the Google Apps first before I can proceed to the next step.

Noted that, when you remove your domain from Google Apps, any information you had created while using Google Apps will be erased. And you will not be able to access any of this information again. So, think carefully before you decided to delete them, make sure that this is what you want...

Here is the steps on how to remove your domain from Google Apps

1. Login to the Google Apps cPanel: https://www.google.com/a/cpanel/yourdomain.com
2. Click on Domain settings
3. Click Account information
4. Then click Delete Google Apps for yourdomain.com

5. After that, the last final notification will ask you to confirm your action. Then you can check the checkbox and click the button to delete the domain from Google Apps.

Note: You may want to change or delete the unnecessary record in your domain DNS Management panel.

After this process is done, you can now custom your domain on Blogger.com as usual and later set up your Google Apps again from scratch if you want.

Massive Solar Storms Trigger Stunning Northern Lights

These are some magnificiant pictures and videos of auroras that was taken due to the event of a coronal mass ejection, or CME, that hit our planet earlier this week. A CME is a cloud of superheated gas and charged particles hurled off the sun. The experts said that a strong solar flare had erupted from an active region on the sun triggered the strongest solar storm experienced since October 2003.

When a CME hits Earth, the charged solar particles can interact with gases in our atmosphere to produce the northern and southern lights [National Geographic].

Facts : Airplanes had to change routes, and the power grid and satellites were affected.
