3 Idiots - Movie Review

First things first a big congratulations to Raju Hirani who has done it again. He has created a fantastic entertainer which gives you your moneys worth. If you think I have already read the novel and the movie would turn out to boring well you could not have been more wrong. The movie has a major twist at stroke of half time which leave you stunned and in fact the whole movie is only loosely based on the novel and has enough new twist and subplots that the guy who has read the novel 10 times over would also find enjoyable and interesting..

Ranjordas Shamakdas Jaanjhar or Rancho played by Aamir is this free spirited, quick witted, jugadoo inventor innovator like personality who joins this big league engineering college only to that college is all about scoring marks and landing the right job than about loving science and giving birth to new ideas. His friends Farhan (played by Maddy) and Raju (played by Sharman) are from the same typical belief system but just that they cant come first in the Rat Race and hence they rather act like cool dudes hanging out with Rancho.

Boman Irani nails the character of the Parsi headmaster to perfection and Kareena playing headmasters daughter does a fine job in a limited role.

The movie though is held together by this great spell binding performance of Aamir Khan who it seems can do anything. From taking on the education system and still coming first tp inventing new products to changing the mentality of parent to even delivering a baby....humm now that is a surprise :D.

The story is told mostly in flash back mode with Raju and Farhan going out to find their best buddy from college Rancho who has not surfaced in 10 years and vanished of that face of the earth on the of their graduation. Along with them in the journey is the indomitable geek of their batch Chatur (who btw has also delivered a great performance) who has returned after 10 years to stake claim of his greatness and inform the 3 Idiots of his batch that he has been far more successful in life than them and hence win his bet.

The first half of the movie is a ripper filled with great laughs and gags and tricks. Watch out for the scene in which Chatur delivers this speech which is easily the most funny scene of the movie. It leave you gasping for breath and a slightly painful stomach by the time it is done. The movie is sprinkled with its touchy moments as well where it highlights the issue of grades, parental pressure and even student suicide. But the movie never lags in pace and does not leave you bored even for one bit.

My only crib about the movie is that it is missing that one scene which explains how the bond between the 3 Idiots is sealed in beginning of their hostel life. I would have left out the Karenna wedding fiasco scene and included the bonding one instead.

In the end the I would say the movie is a must watch, it may not be cult film like the Munnabhai series but it is easily the most sensible comedy which has hit the theaters in a long time. All you hostelers out there would relate to it even more and I am sure it would give you a range of new nick names to pick from and label your batch mates with :D

Avatar a Movie Review

Saw the 3-D version of Avatar this past week and here is what I thought of it.

I do not wanna mince words here. The movie is like a typical bollywood like masala movie complete with romance, righteousness, betrayal and even soul transfers from one body to another. If you think all this justified as the movies is set some 100 odd years in the future well it is you choice, but do rememeber this the next time you critise a bollywood masala futuristic potpourri movie :D .

What makes it worth watching is just how real everything looks. From the beasts to the blue skinned natives to the trees forests of Pandora the alien planet. Not to forget the 3-D effects which add to the glamour ;-) . The movie no doubt path breaking in terms of the technology it uses but leaves a lot to be desired on the story line. The only thing perhaps which makes the movie different from our typical Hindi movies is the strong underlying message of saving the earth and the futility of war. This message is indeed well recieved.

So in the end I would say go see it for the innovation the 3-D effects and you come out happy. But if you are the ones looking for a strong story which thrills you, surprises you and has a emotional level to it you will come out disappointed. You may even want to give it a miss if it is running only 2-D in your city.

PS: Rajeev Masand has chosen to call this movie a "Cinematic event of this generation", and I say a larger budget and better consoles and EA sports would have gotten there before James Cameron hehehehe ;)

Have You Eaten This Rasgulla!!!!

"Have you eaten this rasgulla" said this art of living teacher during the course...

I sitting there in the audience was left wandering what a mundane question but what it lead to was some amazing knowledge which even to this day amazes me, excites me and the simplicity of me sometimes scares me...

Anyways back to the question & knowledge

"Yes" said the audience in chorus...
He said "Did you hear me right, I said Did you have this rasgulla"
All of again went "Yes"....

Then he said "You have would have had several rasgullas up untill now, but I am sure you would not have had this one"...he then went on...

This what happens in our lives as well. Our memory is so strong it removes the newness of an event and just overpowers our thought process with the impressions from the past...this in turn takes away the enthusiasm from our lives making everything a drag. I guess this what Robin Sharma meant when he says looking at life with(out) filters.

The essence of spirituality is of being able to retain this feeling of newness...thus fill our lives with joy enthusiasm. I guess this feeling of newness is also the key to brightness u c in a childs eyes, the smile on his face and the energy in his actions.

Well this knowledge really did strike a chord with me and I hope it does with u as well...By no means am I saying I am doing it 100% but it was jsut one of those things I thought I would share..

The Awakening Joke!!!!

Hi Guys,

Dan-ta-dan presenting first the mundane (n hopefully funny) part of the post first...

As most of us would know yesterday Aug 14 was Janamashtami - The birthday of Lord Krishna.
This event reminded me of a joke which I guess most of you would have read but anyways here it is

A school teacher was teaching the Mahabharat to his students. The story he was teaching about was Kirshnas birth story and he was telling the class that "Kans the evil mama (maternal uncle) of Krishna was told by astrologers the 8th baby son of his sister would ultimately be the cause of his death in fact he would only kill him"

So the evil mama ( his sister and brother in law into prison. And when the first child was born Kans killed it by drowning it.

The second child he killed by slaughtering it...
The third by throwing off a cliff...
The fourth.....but before the teacher could proceed any further Bunty put up his hand...

The teacher asked him what is it....Bunty said he had doubt...
The teacher was amazed he said in 5000 yrs no one has ever had doubt on this story of this great epic...but you my son have doubt...please ask my son ask me your brilliant doubt...

Bunty innocently asks the teacher: Sir if Kans knew that the 8th child of his sister would kill him & he was such smart yet evil king why did he commit all these murders...why didnt he just keep this his sister and brother in law in 2 separate prison cells....

The teacher was stunned to speak any further....(courtesy an email forward)

Now I know a lot of you reading this story would be saying...see now you know why I hate hinduism, why hate going to temples and some would be saying...now you know why I love to embrace western culture...

But hold on to your guns a bit...Following are few links which if you choose to visit and read fully you would be blown away by what hindu culture and knowledge books have to offer...Our culture is so rich in it is symbolism that IF UNDERSTOOD CORRECTLY it would even put Dan Browns Da Vinci Code into a distant second place.

Love Aaj Kal - A Review

Hi All,

Man its been like 4 months since i have written anything but what do I do I just couldnt think of anything creative enough and at the same time funny enough to write. Not that this post is either of the both but atleast its my attempt to out do Mr Rajeev Masand ;) so here it goes

Love Aaj Kal - Movie Review - My Own (Unique) Style

The Cast Performance: Saif is just brilliant in his portrayal of Jai and also does a good job playing the sardar lover Veer (the younger Rishi Kapoor ), Deepika does a reasonable job playing Meera (Jais love interest) but pales in front of Saifs performance. Rishi Kapoor does justice to the role and i bet he could play this old lover boy reminiscing of his younger days character in his sleep. His performance is not to dissimilar to his role in Delhi-6. The Brazilian model Giselle Monteiro playing the Sardarni who is wooed by Veer (the Sardar Saif) looks nice and underplays the character perfectly. The credit for it is more with the director who captures their love story very well and more essentially just with gestures and expressions and very few dialogues.

The Story: The story is humorous as Hum Tum in parts and is told in the RDB style with the back story interspersed with the contemporary one. The story is about a no tension, funny but career oriented lover Jai who has a great romance with Meera a modern assertive and again career oriented girl. Jais life dream is to build bridges with this american firm and Meeras lifes passion is to revive frescos of indian monuments .

Both being practical people realize that long distance relationship dont work and hence split very amicably, even throwing a party to celebrate there break up. This leads to a funny sequence where their friends are left perplexed as to should they feel said or happy, how should they greet the couple happy breakup or i am so sorry for you and what gifts to buy for the party.

So they split and Meera moves to delhi, but both are in constant touch even guiding each other through how to get into a new relationship Meera with her new boss and Jai with some firangi...
Despite all this they fail to relaise they are soulmates so it takes a rishi kapoor to come in and tell Jai about his own story which is not to dissimilar to Jai, just that it is set in the old days in Delhi...

The old and new stories go parallelly and are told in the RDB style of narration. The old story is cute, has few words and takes a magical acting effort from Saif to pull off... Ok back to Jais story...Jai goes down to india, both he and meera have a time of life hiding from their current love interests and hanging out with each other... Yet they part ways again, just like practical people and Meera even ends up marrying her boss...

In all this Conspicuous by there absence is the families of both Jai and Meera and this is my biggest crib about the whole movie...

To know if they get back together if yes how and what leads them to do so..Well for that go catch the movie...you dont expect me to give it all away right here do you ;)

Remarks:Overall i give this movie 2.5/5 go see it for it clever humor and good story telling style...

Cheat Codes to a Better Life on Bench

To the non techie folks Bench is that dreaded 5 letter word which no techie wants to hear in general but more so in times of recession. If you are on put on bench what it essentially means is that there are no projects in the company on which you can work but you still got to show up in office and clock the required hours, hope to be allocated to a project and yes but you do get your full salary at the end of the month.

The main and only challenge of bench life is though of passing time without any work, trust me folks after the first few couple of weeks this does seem impossible. first couple of weeks you have loadsa ook to chat up with...loadsa of orkut profiles to catch up on...a bunch tiredness to get rid off and after that reality strikes and you are left counting every passing minute hoping for 5 pm to come faster.

So coming from a bench veteran here are a few tips to have a nice and peaceful extended bench life...

1. Read the same story in 2 or more papers and try to verify the facts figures in each

2. Take a pledge to try coffee from all the diff vending machines around...visit a new one everyday if not every time...

3. When u walk into a building pick an elevator and make sure u enter only that...if it comes first pick another one ;)...too bad if u r on the ground floor...

4. Learn a few new words in a technology u dont know and then go over to someone who is working on the technology and engage then in an 'intelligent discussion'

5. List out all the things that u know are wrong in ur previous proj list them out and report it so that atleast ur old mates would have work in the near future

6. Everyday morning list out 10 diff replies to the now familiar 'jibe' from friends 'so what u working on today'. Make sure u give them each a different answer like

a. Getting ready to file a patent...

b. working on how to propose to bill gates daughter

c. Writing a editorial to newspaper n blah blah blah

d. Standing for lok Shabha elections

7. Pick up sweets from people who you dont know wish them and ask them the ocassion

8. Note what each one is wearing everyday n find out how long it takes them to repeat the dress...improves u memory as well ;)

9. compose blogs like these...

10. And finally, actually do nothing at all for a while...and by nothing i mean nothing, no thinking, planning talking...nothing absolutely nothing...in other words do meditation and free urself of stress :D Atleast next time you will not utter statments like i am doing nothing at to people easily ;)

Now now now...India has another reason to celebrate. Bapus belongings are back in India...or atleast will be back in India soon enough. Is it really worth talking about or celebrating. Somehow i just hate the thought of attaching importance to objects and symbols instead of believing in the ideals MKG stood for. Isnt it really convnient we claim his legacy despite having nothing to show for it, oh no wait a minute we do have things to show for it a corrupt goverment which has more goondas in the goverment than literates, farmer suicides, naxal problems etc...

And now look at the irony of the event...A LIQUOR baron Vijay Mallya is restoring a nations dignity...A guy who has nothing to do with simple living, flaunts his style at every possible place and is selling booze which makes ppl lose there senses is restoring nations pride...

I just thought if these items would influence his psyche in what way would it show up in his work and biusiness ..herez a interesting list i could think of ;)

Whoever buys kingfisher would now be given a copy of the bhajan "Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram" no item songs man...
Booze will be served in bowl n saucer instead of mugs n glasses
Royal Challenger Bangalore (RCB the IPL team he owns) player Kumble would now play in round wire rime specs ; supporters would get to sport round wire rime specs to cheer there team...
Even better the cheer leaders would now wear only a khadi shawl n dhoti...i hope it doesnt rain for their sake :D...so will the air hostesses at kingfisher and models on F1 track
RCB bowlers will make sure if one ball goes for 6 the next one would too afterall if u r slapped u should offer the other cheek
His Formula 1 team flag bearer (the model who stands in fromt of the car) would use lathis instead the conventional flag posts(man now how creative is that ;)

And I saved the best for the last

His booze would now become non-violent. People who drink it would just sleep and not get into brwals.

Friend Required , Dog Preferred!!!!

"I wanna buy a dog" said my friend cheerfully...

"Nice idea" I replied

"What breed u looking on buying?"

"A lab (as in Labrador)would ne nice, I was thinking" came, what sounded like a ready reply

"Thatz nice...if u have thought so far why not buy it"

"Ppl keep telling me its a bad idea"

"Why do ur parents hate animals"

"Arrey noooo!!! I am not gonna keep it at home...it will be in my room" meaning the place she calls home at Blore where she works.

So much for ur assumption samrtass I thought to myself.

"Now that changes things" I replied thoughtfully.

"Who will look after the dog when u r away at work & anywayz u stay in a flat...how can anyone think of having a dog in a flat?"

"Well now you know why i wasnt acting on my idea :) " she replied

"Plus will ur room mates agree" I questioned

"I dont have one currently"

"All the more reason this is not gonna happen"

"I know yaar but what to do i get so bugged alone at home"

"Why not get a roommate instead"

"Naaa...."

"Now why is that???"

"For one I am veggie gal"

I was like "nice excuse"

From then on i didnt know what to reply. I was just too busy wondering what this world come to. People now prefer DOGS to HUMANS for company....HOLY SHIT!!!! ;)

Pity her current boyfriend (if she has one) or her future husband. Just imagine whose place he is gonna take.

But as ever no blog of mine is complete without a list...so here come a few reasons why some1 (specially gals) would prefer dogs to humans as room mates

1. They always agree to what u say, or so u can believe.
2. Never interrupt u in ur gossip with its own gossip
3. U can never get jealous of its beauty…
4. It wont warn u about how much ur spending shopping
5. U can take it wherever u want, whenever u want and all in return for just a pack of biscuits.
6. It doesn’t block the phone for long and more importantly the toilet for long
7. Poops in open and u have clean up…which otherwise would be unacceptable but in this case it could serve as practice for things to come later in life ;)
8. It remains loyal to u…I mean u don’t allow it liberty enough to make other dog pals :D
9. And also it would eat whatever is given…even if its maggi over n over again…
10. It can lick of ur make up if u r feeling to lazy (had to get in the crude didn’t I, I mean I have blog name to live up to)

Spirituality In TRAFFIC JAMS!!!!

Recently met an American who was spiritually inclined just like me and we happened to get talking. During our conversation he started to talk of the traffic situation in India in spiritual terms and I was completely amazed, horrified stunned by his view. Here is the essence of what he said…

Me and my wife had come to India last year on a spiritual tour and happened to visit places like Rishikesh, Varanasi, Haridwar etc etc. We happened to take a rickshaw ride in Varanasi and it was the most BEAUTYFULLLLL experience. There was heavy vehicle traffic on one side, there were cars and motor scooters and there were these camels there as well and this rickshaw guy was part of the whole thing moving in and out. It was so unique so beautiful. Back in the US we have one lane for the heavy vehicles one for cars and it so segregated. And this segregation comes into our lives as well.

On listening to this I was reminded of the quote I read somewhere "Man makes systems, but the divine is found in chaos". But this guy took this sentence to a whole new level.

Now with the backdrop of this conversation I thought of the following points which show the divinity in our traffic situation

1. Teaches you to be patient, biggest virtue of a seeker.
2. If you aint driving u can probably close ur eyes and meditate :D
3. Anger is injurious to health (as in this case it can lead to brawls)
4. In the eyes of the divine (red signal) all are equals
5. Enlightenment is inevitable...I mean the signal does turn green some time and no matter how far back you are u get to turn the corner sometime
6. A good guru (traffic cop) can show u the way in the chaos or bad one can lead to destruction, so choose wisely ;) .
7. Look around soak in the scenes, even the journey is joyous not just the goal.
8. Desire to compete, to race is most often the cause of casualties
9. Potholes (obstacles) can slow you down but can’t stop you
10. Knowledge of other routes never hurts instead it can give you shortcuts so respect all religions.

'Holy Shit' A Funny Question ?????????

'Holy Shit' how could this term have been formed??? I complete at awe of the person who would have thought of this exclamation. I mean who and when and in what situation could have put these 2 complete diametrically opposite terms together and formed this clause of wonderment. I bet it would have been literary revolution of sorts when these words would have been first spoken.
Here are a few scenarios which I could think of which could have led to this term being coined

A priest suffering from constipation coined it after his prayers were answered.
Person using the toilet in holy place did.
A guy so freaking bloody scared of position he was in did said 'Holy Shit' after he got out of it alive but a little dirty in his pants
A doctor coined this term after being in awe of the digestive systems.

For example Within the colon, a typical person harbors more than 400 distinct species of bacteria
The liver performs more than 500 functions etc etc etc

Some genius deliberately put such opposites together so that the person uttering them would genuinely be surprised if not at the situation atleast at the expression
It is a spiritual code which says come be in wonderment of all expressions of life no matter which extreme they are.

Pepsi Ad Ending

Ranbir n a model lay there hands on a Pepsi can and go fighting till his apartment saying

Herez r a few wacky endings i could think off for the ad...

Model says...
"What a suprise this is my bedroom to..."
turns out both r husband n wife n did this act for stealing the can free of cost...they drink the can n then.....make out what else ;)

SRK comes out from a closet n says in his inimitable style
"ehhhh ehhhh ehhhhh....this is my can i started selling it first"
He takes it n shares it only with ranbir coz he is gay what else....n both live happily ever after..

They both squeeze the can so hard that it pops n equal amount go into there mouths...man that is soooo filmy...wont blame u if u hate me for this thought....hehehehe

Aamir come in flaunts his 8 pack abd n offers the model coke...she falls for him n leaves with him...

and last but not the least

Akshay kumar comes out from nearby n says...
Ek can par kyun lad rahe ho...Yeh lo thumbs up market mein bahut milta hai...

this idea basically came from the spoof that pepsi had done on thumbs up ...
Two guys go and visit Akshay Kumar at a hospital and say… “Why are you running behind just one bottle, uncle… Pepsi piyo..har jagey milta hai… ”
seems like they r spoofing their own spoof that to on themselves...hehehehe

Mumbai Attacks My Thoughts

I am sure all of have been affected by the Mumbai mayhem or Mumbai Matinee (considerng the media coverage it got) in one way or another. And I was left wondering ke what could drive youngsters to such lengths that they come on such suicidal missions voluntarily...

I mean u r 20-25 have hardly seen the world and yet u feel such utter hopelessness about life that u r willing to kill urself and also kill mindlessly other innocent ppl including women n children...

Then i remembered Hitlers words...

The only difference between truth and lies is of repetition

i mean imagine u being told the other side are sworn enemies. they subject innocents to inhuman atrocities. the sacrifice you make would be rewarded. and imagine u being told this day in and day out for years together. Do you think one can avoid being brainwashed.

I mean small kitty party gossips can cause fights then this method of systematic human conditioning can most definitely drive a person to suicide. I know you may think the comparison is trivial n unfair but think again, see what damage a 5 min lie can cause n then imagine what it could lead to if the lie is sustained for years together.

Then another aspect that intrigued me was how almost all of us were drawn to the news channels when i am sure all of us were aware our watching or not watching is not gonna change anything in on the ground. I was thinking of why this could be n here r few things I could think of

1. We give ourseleves a ego massage. For once we can tell ourselves yes are being selfless and praying for others safety.
2. Somewhere inside we feel guilty that we are not able to help and want to see that we eveything ends well without much bloodshed.
3. Gives a false sense of unity n pride...i mean u r among a billion who are doing the samething watching.
4. U share the machoism and the triumph of our army n commandos n it gives u joy...

And now to hte big question where does the solution lie...

Where else but in removing poverty and promote education and spirituality.

Remove poverty and give ppl a decent life to live. Something they can cherish life more than death atleast. and no better of doing it other than by imparting education bot scientific n spiritual.

And finally the most important . But let me make a distinction here in spirituality and religion (and i am quoting from gurujis speech here)

Religion has 3 parts Symbols (gods, goddesses, texts, idols, animals, stars etc), rituals and spirituality. Our problem is that we r stuck in the first 2 and forgotten about the 3 aspect. This is what guruji calls Sticking on to the banana skin n forgetting abt the banana.

And finally i would like to say to those who belive having a single religion would solve the problem...well ppl u couldnt be more wrong. Its the tendency of a non spiritual mind to find a division. If it is not the faith u practice it would be the color of your skin, the length of your body, the language u speak the accent u speak with the profession u practice.

The need of the hour as per me is that religious leaders come out n condemn these attacks strongly. This distinction between religion n spirituality talked be about and remebering the progress of all is in the best interest of the world in the other words not being too capitalistic in our outlook.

Kuch Naya Finally

Its true its true. 15600 SMS's (that is in the last 15 months) and 3 years n 6 months later (that is overall ;) ), I have finally changed my phone. Herez what i have got for myself Sony Ericsson T700. So what i thought why not write a review about it so here it goes my first impressions of the phone

The styling of the phone is absolutely fab it sleek n smartly designed with the easy access keys for camera, volume etc and you know what it looks just as amazing as in the photos on the Sony site. The menu interface is awesome and typically sony style. I specially like the way how the photos move in n out of the screen when u r scrolling through them. Another nice n thoughtful thing is the nice white light that glows near the centre button when a call or sms comes. I thought it was real nice detailing

The camera is 3.2 MP supported with a photo light and the photo clarity is really nice. Some other blogs out there have said it lacks auto focus n have thought that it was the weak point of the phone, they must be some kinda pros man...i didnt mind the clarity of the photos one bit.

The phone comes with 512 mb card and is expandable upto 4GB (someone please gift me that 4Gb card for my birthday). The speakers on the phone are also good n decently loud. I have not been able to test its internet speeds as Vodafone morons dont have the settings for the phone yet, will write about the next time (i tried setting it up manually but it didnt work).

Another example of nice design is the way in which the u can both charge the phone and also listen to music at the same time. They have managed this by providing the slot to plugin ur earpiece in the charger plugin.

All in all the phone is real good for those a bit of both worlds the Walkman and the camera series and by 'a bit' i mean the good bit. The stlying fantastic n i cant say enough about it. So all those looking for a phone i recomment u do have a look at this piece before u make up ur mind.

Monkeygate

With all this talk by the Aussies away from the cricket field, the latest of which coming from Ponting, I got reminded of this whole monkeygate thing and the sydney test fiasco. And then a strange question popped in my head. Wonder if you guys can help find an answer to it.

We all know how upset Symonds got when Bhajji allegedly called him a 'Monkey'. Come of it yaar I mean symonds ever looked at ur hairdo... i am sure there are more lice in ur head than a monkeys. but anyways that is the point i am trying to make here..

I remember once someone calling Symonds 'Robocop' on air on commentry. Man isnt that racism. I mean monkey has brains of his own has emotions but robocop he doesnt even have emotions. He cant even think on his own he is apparently works on parameters of public safety. I mean i dont know about you but if you look at it this was which do you think sounds like a worser insult. Or if you choose to call Robocop superhuman then also its racism. I mean he aint human race and hence that should amount to racism. Period.

Its a funny thing this mind. the ability of the mind to hanker on the negatives is just amazing and also to suppress certain evident facts when the mind thinks its getting complimented, that too is amazing. If only it was just that easy to hanker on the positives all the time the world would be happier place.

The Joker or The Spiritualist

I was reflecting the dialogues delivered by The Joker from the movie The Dark Knight...

The joker says

I am like a dog chasing cars I wouldn't know what to do if I caught up with one

So guys do u think u guys are any different from this dog he is talking about. Well no of course not just take out the word cars from the above dialogue n replace it with the word desire...now does it strike u???

We are like that dog the only difference being we r chasing desires and what happens when it gets fulfilled we don't know what to do...so what do we do we start chasing another desire then another n then another...We might take a moment or 2 to njoi a bit but does it last nope....

Next dialogue

Kill you (batman) What would I do without you go back to ripping of mob dealers...You complete me...

Wow yaar what a line...lets draw a parallel...

Does happiness have any value without moments of sadness...I mean Guruji always says if a person says to you he has been miserable for years know that he is lying...I mean if that was to be true he would have got use to that feeling by now...it would probably become his nature by now ;-)

What is value of electricity without power failures...of food without hunger...of motor vehciles without tiring walks.What is a hero without a villain in the first place...it takes more to be a villain than a hero afterall a villain is going against very human nature (jai ho gulshan grover bhaiya ki)

The point here is if u going thru a low just remember it is just to break the monotony to shake u up and make u cherish life a little more...

And finally one last dialogue...but this time its from Dent...

U either die a hero or live long enough to become a villain..

I am sure Sourav Ganguly heard this dialogue before he made the announcement...

TERRORISM: THE CAUSE AND THE REMEDY

The act which is only destructive and inflicts suffering both on oneself and others is terrorism. In such an act, human values are lost in the process of achieving a goal.

Some of the factors that lead to terrorism are:

Frustration and desperation to achieve a goal
Confused emotion
Shortsightedness and Impulsive action
Belief in a non-verifiable concept of heaven and merit; a childish concept of God favoring some and angry at others, thereby undermining the omniscience and omnipotence of the Divine.

Terrorism induces fear psychosis in all, increases poverty, suffering and loss of life with no apparent gains. Instead of solutions the terrorist looks for destruction as an answer. If you simply criticize without giving a solution, know that this criticism comes from the same seed as terrorism!

Although there are certain qualities you can appreciate in a terrorist such as:

Fearlessness
Commitment to a goal
Sacrifice

You will have to learn from them things that you should never do:

Valuing some ideas and concepts more than life.
Having a narrow perspective of life and dishonoring its diversity.

The Remedy for terrorism is:

Inculcate a broader perspective of life -- value life more than race, religion and nationality.
Educate people in human values – friendliness, compassion, cooperation and upliftment.
Teach methods to release stress and tension.
Cultivate confidence in achieving noble aims by peaceful and nonviolent means.
Create spiritual upliftment which can weed out destructive tendencies.

Question: Can it be that terrorism need not be only physical violence, but also cultural or economical?

Sri Sri: Yes.

Solution for economic violence – "Think globally, buy locally."

Solution for cultural violence – "Broaden your vision, deepen your roots."

Question: How does one cope with the aftermath of terrorism?

Sri Sri: Faith and prayer. When disaster happens, anger is inevitable. To take precautions that one does not react wisdom is needed, not emotional outbursts. One mistake cannot be corrected by another mistake. Strive for multi-cultural and multi-religious education and spiritual upliftment to reach every part pf the globe. For the world will not be safe even if a small pocket of people are left ignorant.

Man i am so excited to share this news with you guys. If it is a dream let me not wake up man. Some of you would have already guessed it that if you are active on Orkut.

Its true its true i have got an offer from Google. Don’t believe me well see the photo below...(for the sharper image head over to Orkut, what to I don’t like putting private stuff in public you see)

The whole process began in 5 months back when i just applied for a job at google as a joke. I mean i was working in the datawarehousing domain and i mean who mines more data that google these days. You should have seen the shock I was in when they said they are willing to call me for an interview or rather a series of interviews. What began after that was unbelievable ride both mentally and physically taxing.
The interviews were stuff legends are made of...from math puzzles to complex algorithms...from database design concepts to parallel processing. From solutions to complex queries to ideas for improving Oracle...i mean only god knows what they liked in me that i was picked...

Now i can also proudly acquire the “Google 15” syndrome.

We’d heard about the “Google 15,” the 15 pounds new employees are rumored to gain feasting off the sumptuous organic foods served at the Googleplex’s cafeteria

Learn swimming in the Googleplex pool, sharpen my skills at the pool table or a play fusball...and yeah work once a while...I mean who really works when you don’t have reporting structure in a place....

just imagine what stated as a joke 5 months back On April 1...finally finished up now as joke...
if u still don’t get it...well then go to sleep n meet me at the Googleplex :P

What follows are a few simple points/practices I have picked up from my Art of Living exploits and the greatest teacher of them all LIFE itself. So here it is a few simple tips to

1. Smile Yadha Kadha Sadha (whenever n where ever)...I don’t mean LAUGH I mean SMILE think about the difference for a bit...

2. Take a walk alone for 15-20 mins daily...alone no cell phones no ipods...n if possible no traffic.

3. Sing couple of ur fav songs daily...loudly...who cares if u cant hit the right notes that is the listeners problem ;)

4. If u r depressed go out n do some volunteer work...trust me nothing better than that...

5. Breathe consciously for abt 15-20 mins everyday...think of nothing else...

6. Heck with what people say do everything once in life....experience it for urself at least once no matter what it is...make ur own mistakes n make sure u making new ones each time...trust me u ll only be wiser with the experience...if nothing else u ll have interesting stories to tell ur grandchildren ;)

7. Try making a funny dish some weird combination of food...force ur friend to also eat it...man I am sure many who know me r smiling as they read this...what i mean to say is dome some experiment...anything music food science gardening...

8. Stand in front a mirror n praise urself...u ll struggle to even get 10 points without repetitions...and then tell urself if i cant even praise myself why should i expect it from others... ;)

9. Play a really simple game till u get bored of it...snakes n ladders...ludo...uno...

10. Finally go c Dil Chahta Hai....(n hail Preity, Aamir n Aus :p ) man couldn’t think of anything else to write n was despo to round of with ten
